Hi everyone!

I take it that there hasn't been any news about TCB.  I've been thinking and sending good thought about him all morning.

Work has been a real bear today so far.  Ugh.  3 more hours and I'm free!

Danise, it will be your evening before there is any word on my surgery.  My surgery isn't scehduled to start until 1:30 p.m. my time.

Dear BK, is tonight the last night of the reading? We are under a weather alert that makes us wary of driving.

There is blowing dust, and that is dangerous and scary to drive in.

Dust in the Wind.

That is the title of my new book.

YES DR DtM - that ray that burnt the flesh off the skeleton was SUPER COOL.

And I loved the reaction of the secretary who came back and found the skeleton of her boss at his desk...."I'm not going to work at a place where this kind of thing goes on!!"

Before I could post we are having computer woes I was kicked off the site & couldn’t reconnect for awhile.  I was kicked off again when I tried to post-sure hope this works.

I was very sorry I couldn’t post my good wishes & vibes to TCB yesterday.

Today  is Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle birthday. He was born on May 22, 1859, in Edinburgh, Scotland.  This was on Google today

I was wondering about that myself, DR Vixmom.  Maybe it's International Sherlock Holmes Day.

Vixmom thanks for the vibes and the laugh.  Your dream was funny.

My second big laugh for the day-SWW & DerBrucer- “ignorance is bliss”.  I loved the story.  I hope they haven’t given up on Blackie & find the right foster home for him.  With work he should learn not to jump like that.

I still remember training our Siberian Husky who was stubborn even by husky standards.  One day after he listened to me I leaned down with an excited “good boy” at which point he jumped up and banged his head into my nose.  I swear he broke it & it hurt for months.  I realize now I’m lucky he only got me with his head and not his teeth.

Ginny I think you will enjoy Snow Flower-let me know what you think.

As for the “Chinese Theme” I will add WOMEN OF THE SILK by Gail Tsukiyama (I just saw it is on the AAUW list-great choice).  Another wonderful book of hers is THE SAMURAI’S GARDEN.  As you might guess, this is in Japan, not China.  I agree with Vixmom regarding SPRING MOON.

DakotaCelt, my book group read THE TIME TRAVELERS WIFE, interesting.

I recorded "10.5 Apocalypse" last night while I watched "Desperate Housewives".  Very interesting developments on "DH"....as MattH indicated, it was a bit brutal...but I kinda liked it.

Cillaliz, if your watching the NBC disaster was for same reason I recorded it, then you wanted some escapist fare that offered some CGI effects to show what would happen to our continent if a major earthquake struck.

I changed channels during commercial breaks and saw lots of the same old tired cliches of "disaster epic filler" of stalled cars and folks trudging through rubble...and far more footage on that than on the actual disaster footage itself.  Still....so long as I have fast forward, I should be relatively entertained when I watch.

Actually, Ron, I think I was just too lazy to change the channel.   ;)

I wrote a post, and it didn't get posted and I couldn't get back on for a long time.

I had written that we have decided we need to stay home today. The weather bug has been blinking a warning, and there have been warnings on the news about the dust storm danger that is expected to go on all day. I am usually pretty fearless about driving, but dust storms really frighten me. The segment of I-10 across Arizona is dangerous during a dust storm. I'm sorry I can't make it tonight -- I was really looking forward to it.  :-(

I got kicked off and a "too many conenctions" after my last post.  I'm back, but only for a minute. There is a park on a hill near here and you can't see much of it from the road. I have been meaning to walk up there and now I'm going to do it. I'll take my camera in case it's a cool view

Yes DR CILLA LIZ we must have pictures.

DRLAURA maybe we can see pictures of the dust storm?  I have learned, particularly from Nov-Feb:  Never ignore the blinking WEATHERBUG!

And did you notice that Edie was nowhere to be seen??

I think Edie is still in the hospital with massive wasp stings.  If not, she was probably taken into custody for arson.

That's perfectly fine, too.

But you never need to make excuses for anything you watch, listen to or read.

Most of us won't judge you one way or the other for it.

DR MATTH - I really like THE BEST OF EVERYTHING!  So many good things in it.  And the book is even better!

Gregg's playwright boyfriend is having an affair with the leading actor in the book - which is what sends her off the deep end....and even though Suzy Parker isn't MUCH of an actress, she is stunning to look at.  And Hope Lange is great....Diane Baker is okay.  And her good working relationship with Crawford on TBOE, got Baker the co-starring role in STRAIT-JACKET when first-cast Anne Helm and Crawford clashed on the first day of shooting.

Thanks for this information. I finished the film this afternoon and then flipped back to early in the movie (Crawford's introduction) and put on the commentary and started listening. The author is one of the people who is commenting on the film, but a film scholar is also on the track and their comments have been edited together. I didn't get very far in listening, but with this new ionformation from you, I may go back and listen to some more. I suspect the author will mention these changes as we get deeper into the film.

It's also Victoria Day in Canada whatever that celebrates. Surely that's not Queen Victoria? Maybe one of our Canadian DRs can illuminate us?
