I'm reading Dean Koontz' ODD THOMAS, and Elvis Presley's ghost is a major character.

My take on the outcome is that everyone is looking for someone who makes them feel good about themselves and the country regardless of qualifications.  The pitch at our caucus to switch to Obama was just that. I feel good about the country and I haven't in a long time (this from a 19 year old). Nothing about issues just feel good stuff.  Huckabee is similar for the Reps. They both talked more about coming together as a country than they did the real issues.  People want change, but more than that I think they want a leader that makes them proud to say "Mr. President"

These are just my observations. FWIW

One last thing, Hillary Clinton ran, in part, on the Clinton presidency would be back. It wasn't always stated like that. Bill would slip and say when WE were president, then correct himself, there was a button that just said "The Clintons" that sort of thing. It was more than a subtle message but never explicit enough that it would end up as a sound bite.  I don't think people want to go back to that. They want to go forward. She tried very hard to say she was for change, but I don't think people bought it.

Well, it's kind of quiet around here.  Let's shake things up.  :)

Who here at HHW is a member of the mile high club?

It might depend on what the meaning of "sex" is.

DR dB - was it just a coincidence that your post followed one about the Clintons?  ;)

Very good, DR JoseSPiano!  :)

I take it we're eschewing the obvious "John?" retort?

I'm still trying to shake this cold. Bleh!  I did work all day today and realized how much work I have to do. OMG!!! So I'll be working over the holiday weekend.  I wouldn't mind seeing Juno...so I may do that too.

I went out and got a bite to eat and now I am back, doing a little fixing of stuff that I wrote earlier, and maybe doing another half-page or so.

I'm beginning to put a cast together for the informal reading of the musical I'm mentoring.  Barry Pearl, who did the reading with me last year, is rehearsing for a show, but has one Monday in January free - it's later than I wanted it to be, so I have to decide if I can wait.  Meanwhile, my old pal Jerry Hoffman will be playing a role (he was the infamous stunt c*%k in The First Nudie Musical).  I've also asked Alet and Andy Taylor to take part, and I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Tonight I tried taking one final series of holiday light photos - this one house a few miles from me that really does it up, with enough display for ten normal houses.  But the photos all came out blurry.  So that will have to wait until next year when I will try again.

The power just blinked here at work and my computer restarted!  I'd better log out for the night.  Have a good evening, all. :)

Well, maybe just one.  This represents but a teeny fraction of the total display:

Are you trying to take the pics in "night mode" or with just Auto Flash settings?  If there are a lot of lights, you may not need to use night mode - slower exposure - to take the pics.  However...

If you have a self-timer on your camera, and a tree stump, car hood, mailbox, etc., nearby....

I'm feeling a little kvetchy.  Luckily, I can stay in all weekend if I want to, so I won't have to foist my kvetchy self on the outside world.

Speaking as a "people", I'm much prefer going back to the "Clintons".  We were solvent, had a balanced budget, had no war and had a strong dollar.  And oddly, the president maintained a strong approval rating even through the much-overblown GOP-bloat known as "MonicaGate".

It's been a crapfest since that time.

And neither Barack Obama or this Huckabee yahoo have the knowhow to bring it all back, IMO.

But if Iowans are happy, then that's all that matters for now.

:D

DR JMK:  What a sad, apparently, end to HD DVD...as good as Blu-ray...and less expensive to produce/manufacture.  Ah, well.  Life goes on.
