Well, you've read the notes, the notes were nigh, and now it is time for you to post until the impossible cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: REFOCILLATE!
-
Welcome seventeen GUESTS!
-
Make that twenty-four GUESTS! Who ARE you people?
-
Most rewarding classes for me would have been "music appreciation" in years 9 and 10 of Seconday school (Is that Junior High?). In year 10 the class was an alternative to Art class which was taken by most students. We thus had a small class and a great enthusiastic teacher. My (limited)knowledge of classical music was from those years.
Of course the most rewarding classes I have given - probably Business Mangement classes to 17 and 18 year olds - classes that had humour.
-
Good morning all! Sorry I didn't post this weekend.
Barry did a number on the power and when that came back up, I had modem problems. And I never thought about using the lap top. Duh! ::)
I also had satellite dish problems. I managed to fix that by turning the volume up as loud as it would go for the signal strength and then I went outside and realigned the dish. I could tell when I was in the "zone" by how high pitched the sound of the signal was.
Lord only knows how long it would have taken for some one to come or how much that would have cost if I had to wait for the repair guy.
Anyway, I got a lot done around the house. I still have a long way to go but it's getting better!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day! I will have to catch up on posts tonight when I get home. :D
-
Hi and bye, DearReaderLaura! I have to go get dressed for work.
-
Hello Danise and Tom!
I am glad things are getting better for you Danise. Good for you on repairing the satellite dish.
-
Good day one and all!!
Have a lovely day!
-
Good morning Ben. You have email.

bk, I'm really enjoying the OGERMAN CD. Thanks for recommending and making it available.

DR JoseSPiano - have you tried the new "street view" in Google maps to see what your neighborhood/building look like, up close and personal?
Also...
Is "Uncle Jojo" pronounced "Uncle Hoho"? :)
-
DR Adriana Patti - loved the photos of the car show. You look smashing, as well! :)
-
Good morning. It's raining here in the New York City area. Tom, I will check my e-mail.
-
Our stress test on Friday was indeed that. Some of the new enhancements work and others need to be tweaked. It was the first time a number of people worked in the database at the same time. For a few minutes it was chaos! It got better but it will need much more work before this release is ready to use.
-
Off to check my mail.

I'm listening to Marilyn Hill Smith sings Ivor Novello.

That is the name of my new musical!

Good mornings DRs
DR ShinDing - John Lennon wrote "Get Back" for DR Jose.
-
DR ADRIANNA PATTI - what wonderful pictures, and I will also add that you look absolutely smashing in that dress!!! I would guess that Mr Barker would have auditioned you to be one of his Beauties were he still on THE PRICE IS RIGHT!
I can see you now demonstrating those appliances.

LOL....Goodnight, Irene was lovely. I don't think I had ever heard our official birthday version.
And Dance, Ballerina, Dance is actually a very sad little story that brought a tear to my eye.
A few of the songs I hadn't heard at all, that I recall. Hearts of Stone was great!!!
-
Hopefully discs shall arrive for DRs SweetThing. DtM and FJL as well today or tomorrow.
-
Glad you are enjoying them DR JRand.

Glad you are enjoying them DR JRand.
And will continue to do so! :D
-
Wow! Nobody in that picture is looking at anybody else, but Roz has found the camera!
-
Thanks again for those track listings for Ben and Ant. DR Elmore.
Only #2 is a mystery now. I suspect from the "dialect" that it is from Novello's "Valley of Song"

Goodnight all.

Good night, Irene.

A friend of mine interviewed Sophie Tucker last week!
...actually, he interviewed a Miss Sophia Tucker for a job in his department. He said that she was neither red nor hot nor a mama. And her Microsoft Office skills weren't up to par, either.

Wow! And think of the time she's had to practice!! :P

I went away for the weekend so I didn't post. And I didn't have the opportunity to access a computer.
FOR TOD
I believe it had to be some theatrical or English class I took all those many years ago.
-
Now I can't get that song out of my head:
I'm a red hot mama--
(Wahh, wahh, wah-wah!)
But I'm blue for you!
What's worse--it's the version from the PAL JOEY movie.
-
Hopefully discs shall arrive for DRs SweetThing. DtM and FJL as well today or tomorrow.
Dear DR Tomovoz - you will be the first to know! :)
-
I love that song, DR DtM!! My first hearing of it was from the revival album that starred Harold Lang....although of course he didn't sing "That Terrific Rainbow...."
DR MATTH was writing about THAT TOUCH OF MINK yesterday. :)
Doris: I would love to go out with you some time, Mr Beasley. Oh, may I have my check please?
John Astin: Oh yes...here it is.
Doris: Thank you. As I was saying, I would love to go out with you some time, Mr Beasley - if I didn't find you so personally repulsive.
-
TOD:
It would have to be a tie between two college courses:
Intro to Music 101 - a survey of Western music literature from Gregorian Chant up through the present. It was geared for music majors in the Conservatory, so the teaching and resources were on a very high level. It also incorporated "labs" on how to use the library more effectively - and they were tailored to different "tracks," depending on your interests. Wow!
and
A drama course on Shakespeare. We had 5 actors from the Royal Shakespeare company in residence for the entire semester, and they worked with us extensively - leading up to scene performances and a program of song based on WS's texts. What fun!

I will have to ponder the TOD - but it was probably some choreography classes I took many years ago.
But it may have been my FIRST dance class even many-er years ago where the teacher began by saying....do everything in counts of 4. Three are not enough and five are too many. One Two Three Four. If you need a pickup or other beat in there say "and." One and Two and Three and Four and.
-
I'm also pondering the TOD--I'm trying to decide what "rewarding" means to me.
-
Oh, and how could I foget...
A two week summer workshop I did singing in a chorus conducted by Robert Shaw. The man was amazing and a total inspiration. I've never met anyone with so much charisma. He WILLED the forces to perform EXACTLY what he heard in his head, and to WANT to give him 200 percent. He also had an internal metronome - it was quite astonishing.
-

Good morning, all! DR Jose, come back soon! I've had no one to be mean and rotten to all weekend and you are missed!
I realized yesterday during the middle of my frustrations that the main reason for my unhappiness about the current office situation is partially my fault for assuming that my wonderful colleagues are of the same mind. The problems with this project stem from the fact that it's been without a person in charge since the FAT CONDUCTOR of limitless ego and limited abilities moved on to other projects and further IRS problems.
In our meetings last week about packing up, the sound system never came up and I never thought about suggesting it be packed at the last minute with all the projects I'm working on. Again, my assumption that we're all in agreement bit my butt. So, I'm an adult of sorts. I can take responsibility here.
Today, a bit of work around the apartment, then a trip to the orthopedist. After that, maybe more of the THERESE RAQUIN with Kate Nelligan that I began watching after COUSIN BETTE yesterday.
Robert Kane's Latin classes; the best teacher ever in undergrad and grad school. He was a Manhattan rich boy relocated to the midwest, and a regular theatre goer during his New York years, so he was always good for stories about what he'd seen. His favorite was the 1956 CANDIDE, which he'd seen on a Christmas break from school. When we read Plautus' MENAECHMI he made the class listen to Rodgers & Hart's BOYS FROM SYRACUSE and discuss THE COMEDY OF ERRORS.
My high school music teacher Helen Weinberger, who died last week, was another inspiration, as was my junior high school music teacher Valda Wilkerson, both amazing ladies who could do anything and both of whom I loved unconditionally.
-
I loved YOYO with Yatherine Yepburn!

Tomovoz - If I haven't already thanked you, I apologize. The CD came on Saturday.

I know that the doyenne of the Living Room is still luxuriating in his sleeping chamber.... probably arrayed in a gorgeous gown with golden balls!
But...... Dear Esteemed BK -- I have the same question that Jrand was asking about......
Why have we not been privy to the actual title and a synopsis about this "reading of a new musical play" project that you have been involved in ??? Are we not the poor children of Israel, who trudge through the barren desert, to learn wisdom and knowledge from your perfectly pursed lips??
-
And also, dear Esteemed and cunning BK ...... You know what a dedicated "50s L.A. television" maven I am; and then you just oh-so-casually toss off a maddeningly enticing little snippet like...
".........Wattles Mansion is where I shot Weekday Heroes, my little documentary on LA kiddie show hosts of the fifties. Our host was Tony Dow........"
Come on now ---- nothing available? no order form? no way to sate the raging fires of "I want to see that RIGHT NOW!!" ?? That is just not fair, for us poor desert scum stuck out here in oblivion.
Seriously.......please release ???

The casting in that film is simply priceless. Astin is superb as the sleazy Beasley. And Audrey meadows has the Eve Arden dry put-down mastered.

Good morning!
The rain over the weekend cooled everything off, and I slept very well. Nice this morning, too, though the hot weather returns this afternoon (to the mid-80s). But it's June so I shouldn't be surprised. We'll be in the 90s by the end of the week.

DR Laura:
AVENUE Q has long since packed up and moved out of Vegas, so keep an eye out for a tour in your area. It's coming here this next toruing season.
-
Nothing on TV for me today, so I'll be DVDing it for most of the day. At some point I will watch STUDIO 60 and ENTOURAGE, but otherwise, various DVDs will form my viewing diet.
THE CLOSER, of course, is uppermost on the list. And I'm starting the next-to-last disc in the ANGEL set today, too. PRIMEVAL will be watched tonight so I can better judge the quality of the black level and shadow detail on the DVD.

I know it has, but it is not coming next season. We are having a couple of reruns. I don't like it when they redo shows they have already done. Not for the money it costs me.

I don't blame you. During the years of their great popularity, we'd get either CATS, PHANTOM, or LES MIZ every single year, and I got very sick of them. Recently, THE LION KING has made three trips to our city, but I long since let my subscription lapse. Now, I'll go to shows I haven't seen in NYC or want to see again, but not to everything.

DR SINGDAW - this is the system I use. It is not easy to learn....takes awhile....since the instructions are online and NOT in book form, and it takes some trial and error.
And it helps to have room for the turntable NEXT to your computer, but for the price and results...it gets you started for sure,
Minor assembly for the turntable, you have to put the motor band on, but all in all.....pretty nice for just under $100 plus shipping. And I received it within five days! ;D

I think the most rewarding class I ever took was a cinema studies class. It was there that I was introduced to many foreign films I had heard about but never had the chance to see going all the way back to CALAGARI and on through POTEMKIN, M, THE BLUE ANGEL, GRAND ILLUSION, and so many more. And once a revival theater opened in Charlotte, I was a regular customer catching up on so much I had never had a chance to see.
But that class is what whetted my appetite for more.
-
Best wishes that bk's vocal cords endure the stress of the next three performances.
-
But when one of the new and good shows comes, I have great seats, which is why I don't let the subscription lapse.
Next season we are getting My Fair Lady and Camelot, neither of which I think was on Broadway recently.
-
TOTD:
Favorite classes that I greatly enjoyed:
In high School: drama
In college: American Culture-Midwest, Indians of the Plains, Folklore and Culture, Theatre, Film, and many of my history classes. I did have some rather fascinating classes in Public Relations and Media Buying. Interesting to learn about Arbitron and Neilsen are used.
One of the more fascinating history classes I had was American Environmental history. It was very interesting

Tonight on TCM begins a month-long series on the portrayals of gays throughout the history of cinema. Beginning with the short ALGIE THE MINER and continuing up to the present day, films will be shown on Monday and Wednesday evenings for the entire month of June. Monday morning greetings! Here I am at work, having a hard time concentrating. Thanks to all for vibes for my aunt - that situation has me pretty worried.
TOD - Intellectual History of the United States, taught at The University of Michigan by Frank R. Rossiter, author of Charles Ives and his America. I loved the way we studied American history using the arts - music, literature, painting, etc. - along with philosophy, journalism, religion, and such. I took part 1 (up to the Civil War) in the fall of 1971 and part 2 in the spring of 1972 and those two courses are some of the only ones from my undergraduate years for which I've saved the syllabus and all my notes.
In 2001, C-Span did a series called American Writers: A Journey through History (http://www.americanwriters.org/index_short_list.asp), which I followed as diligently as my work schedule would allow. My favorite installments were:
Lewis & Clark: Journals of the Expedition (http://www.americanwriters.org/writers/lewis.asp#)
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and the Women's Rights Movement (http://www.americanwriters.org/writers/stanton.asp)
Harriet Beecher Stowe (http://www.americanwriters.org/writers/stowe.asp), which was broadcast from her home in Cincinnati
Willa Cather (http://www.americanwriters.org/writers/cather.asp) and
Edith Wharton (http://www.americanwriters.org/writers/wharton.asp)
Watching these programs gave me the same vibe I got from attending Dr. Rossiter's lectures.

My most rewarding classes:
High School Creative Writing my senior year with my teacher Norman Yonce. Norm was also my Advanced English Teacher my senior year and probably did more to prepare me for college than any other teacher I had. It's not that the things I wrote in that class were so brilliant, but rather just all the interesting stuff and literature Norm exposed us to. He would spend an entire class playing one of those Rod McKuen/Anita Kerr collaborations. We'd dissect the poetry of the Beatles as well as T.S. Eliot. He was also just funny, witty, and unorthodox.
Chorus with Robert Knauf was also fun, because he was remarkably funny as well as being brilliant at his job. The first fifteen minutes of class was like a stand-up routine with him reading and riffing on little gossipy notes students left on his music stand and just him cracking wise. But he had great connection with the music world...we sang at the May Festival with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under Robert Shaw's direction. And the Cincy Symphony under conductor Max Rudolf, as well as a very young Erich Kunzel, would come and perform a concert in our high school gym each year and we would sing a few numbers with them. Knauf and Kunzel became good friends.
In college, I had a great Shakespeare class under Dr. Ben Black, who also spurred my interest in the historical Richard III.
What made all these classes great, of course, was not the class...but, in each case, the teacher.
-
Good Morning!
Well, I've been up for a little while, but after I opened my e-mail and discovered yet another invoice from e-Bay for some listing fees... For items I've never listed, well..
I did try looking for a contact phone number, but since I was not able to sign into my account. Luckily, I noticed a direct link to e-Bay's LiveHelp Chat, so... And after first chatting with Sherry and then Berg, I believe everything is finally back in order. -I'm just glad I remembered my original contact info (addresses and such) from when I first set up my account back in 2000. -Which also happened to be the one and only time I've every used e-Bay, so...
Now I'm just waiting for the final confirmation e-mail from e-Bay, and then... Well, I guess I can start thinking of listing some of the goodies I've come across the past couple of months while going through my boxes-o-stuff. :)
-
Good morning, good day, how are you this beautiful day? I have no idea how I am, other than groggy. I shall endeavor to de-groggify and then joggify.
-

Nope, not yet! We on the West Coast of the USA are last on the Postal's delivery schedule, evidently.

As for the Topic of Day...
Fifth Grade - Mrs. Wallace and Mr. Kennedy. But mainly Mrs. Wallace. She just made me want to learn everything. And since it was just a fifth grade class, she did teach everything. I even wrote to her when I was in high school thanking her for being such a great teacher. Mr. Kennedy was the other fifth grade teacher and he would sometimes take over the science and history sections. He also lived on a cool "estate", and I still remember a field trip to his "estate". It was sort of like a Colonial Days outing. We cooked food. We made lye soap - well the teachers made the lye soap (fifth graders and lye.. ). And I also remember digging up a wagon wheel in his yard - he lived on some historical land. Now that was cool!
My Junior and Senior English teachers in high school - Mrs. Kamerrer and Mr. Johnson. Just cool people, and they taught more than just English. Mr. Johnson was particularly colorful. He used to work as a night attendant at St. Elizabeth's hospital, and he would share some of the funnier and sometimes dark incidents from his time in the psych ward. And since he taught "fast", we would spent the last week of each semester just watching movies: "Casablanca", "Vertigo", and some Three Stooges shorts. :)
As for college, my Song Literature Class taught by Melanie Kohn-Day (now just back to Melanie Kohn). It was primarily a class for the Vocal Majors, but since I was doing a lot of accompanying and singing as well (I was a Vocal Minor), I was allowed to take the class. And since the class was actually a performance-based class, I was able to participate as both a pianist and a singer. Melanie was a truly passionate teacher - and she was truly passionate for Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau! ;). Her breadth of knowledge was always astounding but never intimidating. Anytime we were scheduled to perform - basically as "live examples" - we would have an individual coaching or two with her before presenting the song in class. I learned some great accompanying secrets - cheats - from her, and she also was an additional help to me with my foreign language diction. Whenever I would play for the class, I would end up playing for someone else in the class. However, when I would sing in the class, she would play for me. And that was always a very safe and comforting and sympathetic feeling, partnership.
-
DR elmore - It looks like I'm going to go ahead and head back up to NYC tomorrow, probably on the 11:00am train. So I should be back in the immediate area ready for abuse by 3:00.

The most rewarding classes I took would be the social studies courses I took in Jr High (Scenic Jr. High in Central Point, Oregon). Each class I took studied a different part of the world and there was a class on WW1 and one on WW2.

DR JoseSPiano - have you tried the new "street view" in Google maps to see what your neighborhood/building look like, up close and personal?
Also...
Is "Uncle Jojo" pronounced "Uncle Hoho"? :)
Yeah, that street view is cool... and provides hours of "entertainment" in the green room while waiting for the break to end. ;)
As for Uncle "Jojo"... It goes through phases...
"Do-Do"
"Go-Go"
"Yo-Yo"
and, then, eventually, [djo-djo] - which an approximation of the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) for how my nickname is pronounced.

Weekday Heroes was shot in 1984, I think. Hard to believe that's almost twenty-five years ago! It featured three hosts - Chucko the Clown, Engineer Bill, and Sheriff John. We found all three, got them to come in and do extensive interviews and it was just a great, sweet show. It aired on KABC twice, and then the rights became mine. The big problem is that my one-inch master seems to have gone missing. I've found something that might be a sub-master, but I don't know what that means and I have to run it. If not, I have a three-quarter inch tape, but I also haven't seen that recently either. So, I have to go back into storage and find that.

Well, I think it's time for me to venture to the mall. -There's a DMV branch there. I'm gonna go ahead and get a duplicate title now in order to save me the stress of "I thought it was in this box?!?!?!?". ;)

In my day it was John Stamos, Rick Springfield, Patrick Swayze, and members of what was called the brat pack that included Charlie Sheen, Emilio Estevez, Rob Morrow, Judd Nelson and a couple of others that I am forgetting
Rob Morrow?
ROB MORROW?
Rob Lowe, I could understand, since he WAS a member of the brat pack.
No such appellation was ever applied to "rob morrow" that I can recall. He appeared in a few very cheesy "comedies" in which his only acting technique was to smile at everything. All teeth, no talent.
Now he's refined his "acting" to well-rehearsed poses, sneers and attitudinizing.
Rob Morrow, indeed!

DR Drawstring, I am very familiar with Shaw and sang under him, so to speak, many times when I was at the University of GA and he was the conductor of the ASO. He was really amazing and I loved it when he would come to conduct our choir. He really knew how to whip us into shape quickly!
I always used to go to the symphony when I could afford it. When I couldn't, friends in the orchestra would sneak me in to rehearsals.
The one thing I learned was not to sit on the front row, because he would fling sweat all over you!

I have never thought of Rob Morrow as a brat pack actor, mainly because I have'nt seen him in any brat pack ensemble-type films.
But I alway enjoy him in Northern Exposure, and QUIZ SHOW is one of my favorite movies.
Rob Lowe, on the other hand---definitely a brat pack guy, yes, but I can't tolerate his "acting". He's done 3 original movie for TNT, including Salem's Lot. I worked on these and never could understand why this guy continues to get work, apart from his looks. (I find Rob Morrow way more attractive, BTW.)

Rob Lowe is so-o-o much more interesting to me as an actor than Rob Morrow, who was good in "Northern Exposure" but certainly not the best thing about it, Janine Turner was my favorite, followed by the phenomenal supporting cast, including John Cullum and the actors playing Ed, Chris in the Morning, Shelley and the lady who ran the general store.
Lowe is wonderful in "The Stand"...and the older he gets, the more he grows into his looks. I see years and years ahead of Lowe as a matinee idol...if not in movies, then certainly on TV. He's totally wonderful in "Brothers and Sisters." Again, IMO.

Back to THERESE RAQUIN! I don't know how PBS broadcast this show in the USA to make any sense, with all of the nudity in the first two episodes. Laurent's trips to the morgue looking for Camille's body are filled with nightmarish nude corpses, and we do see a lot more of Brian Cox and Kate Nelligan than the Masterpiece Theatre audiences saw. Mona Washbourne plays Camille's mother and she is wonderful; I think my only memory of her is Mrs Pierce in the film of MY FAIR LADY.

I always thought of him as kind of a bimbo...the sex tape he made here in Atlanta with that teenage girl has probably colored my opinion of him a bit. I'll have to check out THE STAND--I loved the book.
But when I think of Lowe, I just think of that dreadful St. Elmo speech, and the stuff he's done for TNT, like Salem's Lot, which had very flat readings (watching him in dailies was downright painful.) He may be one of those actors who does best with a strong director. Didn't he quit West Wing because his character was supposed to be the star but was overshadowed by the more talented cast? (I didn't keep up with that show..)
But I agree, he is very handsome and definitely matinee idol material. And I did enjoy his duet with Snow Wihte!

Frankly, I used to detest Lowe. In his "pretty" days he would also flash a smile in lieu of drawing on any innate acting talent.
But when he did "The Stand", I saw a different Rob Lowe. I think most folks who follow him would point to that performance (Nick Andros) as a turning point that resurrected a flagging career.
In "The West Wing", I don't think it was so much a "star turn" he was expecting as he expected the writers to develop his character as the seasons passed and they went in different direction. They were fighting sagging ratings as well, and played up other characters. This, in Lowe's eyes, was not what he'd been promised would happen. I always understood the departure to be on friendly terms.
Rob Morrow held out for higher salary on "Northern Exposure" at a time when the show was enjoying good ratings. He alienated most of the other cast members who also had contracts but didn't think they were more special than anyone else. I realize his character was the anchor of the plot, but "he" wasn't more interesting or important than the other characters, IMO. When he walked away from the show (again, with the show doing well, and only after four seasons, IIRC) he did so to capitalize on better career opportunities (i.e., "The Quiz Show"). The movie was critically well received, but did nothing at the box office and his career fizzled just as quickly as did David Caruso's when he left "NYPD Blue" after only one season.
"Northern Exposure," sadly, did not survive his departure the way "NYPD Blue" survived Caruso's. The character was replaced "badly", IMO. The writers, without a Joel, had to tap dance, and found they had two left feet. There was no one left for Janine Turner to have sarcastic badinage with and that was a charm of the show...seeing her put the little pisher in his place each week.
That remake of "Salem's Lot" WAS a turkey. I don't think any actor could have saved it.
-
Didn't Mona Washbourne play the dotty mother in STEVIE with Glenda Jackson? I think she was nommed for an Oscar for that.

I have to say that Rob Morrow is not one of my favorites either though I did like his performance in MOTHER. I found him monotonous on NUMBERS which is why I stopped watching the show (and I got tired of Judd Hirsch's character.)
Rob Lowe has learned how to act as he's gotten more experienced. I think he did very well in THE WEST WING, and he's one of the stronger actors on BROTHERS & SISTERS and by far the most charismatic male on the show.

I watched another CLOSER episode this afternoon after I got in from lunch. This was the one where a wife and daughter were found in the harbor tied together, and the spotlight of guilt naturally fell on her British husband. Excellent episode, especially fine acting from the fellow who plays Cromwell on THE TUDORS.

I'm absolutely amazed that this set "plays" in your DVD machine. I mean, with the highbrow nudity and all...your DVD player is certainly attuned to much lower brow, isn't it?
Or is it the VHS player that gets the cheap porn?

Fielding several phone calls this afternoon, I did manage to watch STUDIO 60, and I thought it was the best episode it has had in months. What made it good was that it was DRAMATIC, and all of it was believable and interesting. The dialog was less flippant and wise-ass, and I got far more invested in the characters than most episodes allow me to be.
[The small excerpts from the actual sketch comedy show they're doing were as unfunny as always.]

I bit a huge bullet today and purchased a Toshiba AX20 HD DVD player.

You will enjoy seeing some of your favorite films upconverted through the HDMI port onto your new plasma HDTV. You should notice a difference in sharpness with regular DVDs, and when you watch an HD-DVD, well, you'll be thrilled with the much increased resolution and sharpness. The best HD-DVDs (like the Blu-rays I enjoy) will look three dimensional, and you'll get spoiled very quickly.

I pay a decent amount for my new cable package, I don't want to pay any more, that's for sure, and yet I had come to enjoy Fox Movie Channel as an alternative or complement to TCM. Now I am reliant on TCM for my older movie fix because Fox isn't offered with this package I have.
When will the day come where you can pick exactly the stations you want and don't want? I am sure it will never happen.

Oh, no, I love talking to my friends. I have my whole life to watch TV and films.

I don't know what's going around, but my dear friends in Brighton also lost their 18 year old kitty on Saturday. We had been sending presents back and forth from our cats for many years, and he was a good bed buddy when we would visit them.
This morning I found out that my brother's best friend in high school died on Saturday. He was almost a member of the family until my brother moved to NC and his friend got married. (He had 7 siblings and I think he appreciated our calmer household.) I hadn't seen him in years but my brother would always attend class reunions with him.
I had to tell my brother today. He is devestated and I have been weepy all day during my session. His friend was my age, too.

That would be nirvana, DR Rodzinski. I have hundreds of channels, but truth be told, I only watch a few dozen of them. The rest are a total waste (for me).
Nice thing is that Fox has sold rights to TCM for many of their films, so you won't be doing without Fox movies even though you don't have their channel. And if you ever know that something's coming on that you'd like to have a copy of, just let me know.
-
Made-for-TV movie. Aired yesterday in its entirety on Sci-Fi channel.
Dang! Oh well...I'll check for repeats. Is it based on the original Stephen King or the expanded version?
-
Elmore! I need some giant industrial metal shelving like you have. Where did you get that stuff?
-
It feels weird to have such a happy avatar right now.
-
Actually, it was the Toshiba HD-XA2 1080p HD-DVD that I purchased. I was misremembering the model.
Same comments still apply. All of the Toshiba models have an HDMI connection.
-
A very kind offer, Matt H.
Anyway, it did seem like I was not finding as many gems to watch on Fox the last few months.
You know how stupid I am? I fell asleep watching HE WHO GETS SLAPPED on TCM last night, entirely forgetting I now have the tivo thing and could have just recorded it. I tivo'd my very first thing this weekend. The Monkees movie HEAD.
-
I did watch and commented a little bit about it last night. Weren't they the parents of Lady Jane Grey or do I have it all mixed up?
Lady Jane Grey's mother was one of the children of Mary and Charles. Of course since Mary/Margaret died of consumption with no mention of children, God knows how the Tudors will ever explain the 9-Day Queen if the series ever went so far

I totally HEAR YA on this one. I don't want 45-55% of what any package offers. And yet, I have to go with higher-priced packages to get what I DO want....that is, IF I opt to go that route.
I'm still getting basic-expanded analog cable. So sue me! I cannot fathom paying my local cable monopoly $99.95-plus per month (including HD channels and DVR -- low-end DVR, too -- rental) when most satellite companies AND A.T&T offer the same service (with high-end DVRs) for a few dollars more than I'm paying now for basic-expanded ($53/month).
-
I'm absolutely amazed that this set "plays" in your DVD machine. I mean, with the highbrow nudity and all...your DVD player is certainly attuned to much lower brow, isn't it?
Or is it the VHS player that gets the cheap porn?
;D
My impression was that DR ELMORE has a two-tiered system: Masterpiece Theatre on the DVD and porn on the VCR.
Of course, it's only an impression.

DR Ron Pulliam, if after my Friday posts every week now for three years you don't know, we gotta do something about your meds. ;D
-
Yeah, last month the cable company I am forced to use had an offer, $99 for cable, internet and phone. Well, I don't want phone, so I said, what can you do for me? Gimme the $66 package of internet and cable, right? The lady on the phone basically said the internet you get for that price is crap, and the cable is not that many channels (although I should have had her tell me exactly which ones). So she upsold me with the DVR and now I'm paying $100 for just cable and internet. The thing is I wouldn't be too sad if I just got Fox Movies.
-
Elmore! I need some giant industrial metal shelving like you have. Where did you get that stuff?
Some place in the Village. I looked in the Yellow Pages at "Industrial shelving" and voila!
-
I just Googled "industrial shelving new york" and all kinds of things turned up.
-
WHOA! Is that a self-portrait, Singdaw?
Don't I wish! :P

DR Edisaurus...so very sorry to hear all that bad news.

DR Tomovoz...
The CD arrived today!!!!
THANK YOU so very much. :) From all the other DRs reports, I know I shall enjoy it immensely!

DR Edi - I hope you find something to smile about soon.

Well, DR Edi, that sounds like fun, especially for those who've kept up with the series. My DH and I started watching the first season on DVD, liked what we saw, but had to return the set to the library and haven't gotten back to it. Think I'll look into that...

I read about this earlier in the afternoon. Since Tony Denison is my favorite actor on the show (after Kyra and Jon, of course), I was delighted with this news.
-
BAck from a very annoying final, but my final final, my finale.
-
Well, I had to put myself on the waiting list for season one of The Closer - all five copies are checked out and 12 people are ahead of me. Season 2 is still on order (5 copies) and I'm #28 on the list for that.
-
Time for me to go home.
Bye for now.
-
My DVD of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC came in the mail today. I won't get to it until tomorrow, but some screen captures I've seen make it look a thousand times better than those hideous full frame videotape and laserdiscs.
-
Lady Jane Grey's mother was one of the children of Mary and Charles. Of course since Mary/Margaret died of consumption with no mention of children, God knows how the Tudors will ever explain the 9-Day Queen if the series ever went so far
Ah, yes, that makes sense, of course, since Lady Jane was so young when Edward died.
-
Off to watch PRIMEVAL now. Then, depending on what time I have left, possibly A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. I'm excited I may get to it tonight after all!
-

GW Bailey is making an appearance at a Closer event next week here in Atlanta. I hope I can go, because I'd like to say hello to him. He was in the first movie I ever worked on (one of his, too!)
He's probably my favorite character since he was so nice to everyone on that film, even little peons like me.

DR Adriana Patti - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! on making it through your semester...that must feel incredible to be done!! :)

It is 107 F outside. That is all.

DR Jane...I keep forgetting to post: Thanks so much for sharing your anniversary with us last night. So wonderful! And how good it must have felt to let Sherlock really ROMP!!!! :)

I worked with G.W. Bailey on some TV thing - can't remember what, though.
-
Well...
I got to the mall. I found the DMV branch. When the DMV first set up shop there a couple years ago, it was just a "DMV Express". Apparently, it eventually upgraded to a full-service DMV Branch. In any case...
The line to get in was out the door, but after look in, I realized there was a check-in information desk you had to go to first, so the line was only about 10 people deep. Not bad. Well...
After inquiring about obtaining duplicate title, the woman behind the desk informed me that there was a lien against/on my title, and it was from Ford Motor Financing. "Well, the car was paid off in 1998." -Well, there's still a lien, and you'll have to contact the lien-holder to get a letter stating that it's been removed. Then you can come back and get the duplicate title. Oy vey. Well...
I went ahead and found a relatively quiet spot in the mall, and after a few phone calls, and dealing with some very helpful customer service reps, I was able to get the lien removed. Of course, the letter will take a few days to get to me, but it's supposed to be mailed out tomorrow, so I should have it by the end of the week.
"So, even though the car was paid off, and I received a copy of the title already, there can still be a lien on it?"
-Yes.
"So, even though I've renewed my license for the past ten years, and renewed my plates too, the lien was never brought to my attention?"
-Yes, that's possible. You can renew and renew, but until you specifically ask about the title, then we can't tell you any information about it.
Hmm...
Fortunately, I did enquire about the possibility of this lien affecting my credit rating - and my Mom's credit rating since she was the co-signer on the loan. They said there was no "blemish", and that what most likely happened was that a payment was a day or two late, and the computer applied the lien. -Well, it would have been nice to know there was one, and that I had to apply to have it taken off. Well...
At least I took care of that. And that will also help get my timetable prepared for the next two weeks. -I think I'll head back down to Richmond two weekends from now. And once, I'm down there, I can take care of everything all at once! The title, the car, etc. *And, I'm just glad I did look into this, 'cause who knows what kind of problem that would have caused if I had already had found my original title, and then tried to donate the car earlier. Ah, well...
In any case, it's been a good day with good customer service reps for me. First e-Bay, then Ford Motors Financing.
-
I just spoke to DR vixmom, who sends you all her love and regards. She wants to come in the weekend of June 30 to see all of us.
-
*Oh, and I was relieved to find that my car loan was still in their 'active' system. The first CSR I spoke to at Ford's was not sure she could pull up the records since the car was bought back in 1993, and that it had been paid off already. Luckily, it was there! Otherwise, I would have most likely had to pay some sort of research fee, and then wait for some undeterminate amount of time before I heard anything. -Whew!
-
DR Jose, I blame you for all liens, leans, loans and lones, whatever that is!
J'accuse!

Well, my niece, Alyssa, has just informed that dinner is being served, so...

The CD arrived today!!!!
THANK YOU so very much. :) From all the other DRs reports, I know I shall enjoy it immensely!
A pleasure. DR FJL I may have missed a post - I sometimes do (but not usually yours as I read so many of them to Colin). I also have missed if the 12ths Street Rag made it to Oakland,.
Hopefully DRs TCB and MBarnum will receive there copies today.

I hope so too. Alas, sometimes it's more a matter of having a responsible delivering the mail in my 'hood. :-\

Back from dinner... Hamburgers and potato chips. With Kool-Aid - a.k.a. "red juice". -I can't remember the last time I had "red juice". :)

-
Dang! Oh well...I'll check for repeats. Is it based on the original Stephen King or the expanded version?
Impossible to tell which version, since adaptations have to make editorial decisions to delete characters, combine scenes.
I love the expanded novel, but none of the plot points change.
It's a roughly six-hour mini-series.
-
I just spoke to DR vixmom, who sends you all her love and regards. She wants to come in the weekend of June 30 to see all of us.
Hmm.. I guess it's time to start coordinating schedules, and see just how many HHW gatherings will be taking place that week.
-
I worked with G.W. Bailey on some TV thing - can't remember what, though.
I'm guessing either LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY or M.A.S.H.---maybe HAPPY DAYS....
-
I just Googled "industrial shelving new york" and all kinds of things turned up.
DR Rodzinski - I'm sure you can find that type of shelving at Home Depot down on 23rd Street or the one on the East Side. You could even arrange for home delivery and set-up.
-

I hadn't yet posted that I found a rag on 12th street. And a most delightful surprise it was, too.!
You're a very thoughtie soul, Tommy!

Yeah, last month the cable company I am forced to use had an offer, $99 for cable, internet and phone. Well, I don't want phone, so I said, what can you do for me? Gimme the $66 package of internet and cable, right? So she upsold me with the DVR and now I'm paying $100 for just cable and internet. The thing is I wouldn't be too sad if I just got Fox Movies.
Be sure to check the OnDemand channels. A lot of times, the movies that are being shown on the cable channels will end up in the "general" movie listings on On Demand or the specific channel On Demand listing. *I also like that HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, etc. OnDemand is included with most cable packages now even if you don't necessarily subscribe to those premium channels.
-
Back from dinner... Hamburgers and potato chips. With Kool-Aid - a.k.a. "red juice". -I can't remember the last time I had "red juice". :)
Was there nothing in the meal of nutritional value? A slice of raw onion, perhaps?
-

Well, it was just the burger part. No bun. Lean ground beef, broiled. -With a formula chaser. ;)
-
I sure could use some "red juice" right now...
-
Was there nothing in the meal of nutritional value? A slice of raw onion, perhaps?
Well... Again, lean ground beef, broiled. -Think of it more as chopped steak. And following my niece's lead, I skipped the bun. But I did have a couple of pieces of lettuce and a few slices of tomato too.
-
Well, my niece, Alyssa, has just informed that dinner is being served, so...

Yes, MR BK you can inform Ms Hanley that she is well remembered and well regarded by many fans still.
-
Count me in as another fan of Rob Morrow on "Northern Exposure".
*And still wonder every now and then how John Cullum was never nominated for an Emmy on that show. He wuz robbed!
As for Rob Lowe... I never really liked him when he was a member of the "Brat Pack" - there was just something "not right" about his look to me. Then when he tried to be "grown up" in "The Hotel New Hampshire"... Ugh! And then the whole video-taping scandal at the DNC... Double-Ugh! However, I do have to say that he has grown on me over the past couple of years. When he started on "Brothers & Sisters", I was very wary of his being added to the cast. But it's a good character and great writing, and he's handling it all wonderfully.
Alas, Rob Morrow has tended to grate on me the past couple of years. Ah, well...

Call me dumber than a bag of hair today! I'm all dressed up to see the orthopedist, ready to take a bus trip, and I see that it's scheduled for this time tomorrow. Well, duh!
I still remember being shocked by the love scene on the ship during "Brideshead Revisited". -And then the subsequent showings where that scene was edited.
However... Which recent BBC/PBS presentation had a nice view of Robson Green's backside? :)
-
HA! While Googling for a pic of Robson Green, I came across a site entitled "Hairy Chests of the Rich & Famous". -You can Google that for yourself if you so desire. ;D
-
When will the day come where you can pick exactly the stations you want and don't want? I am sure it will never happen.
Wouldn't that be nice!
-
Yes good vibes to BK on his show!
And guess what? I totally agree with DR RonP re: Rob Lowe. I really liked him on THE WEST WING. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE him on BROTHERS & SISTERS. He is so perfect on that show. And I really love him and Calista as a tv couple!
-
Ohh! A nice bit of news just posted over at Playbill.com:
Glorious Ones, a Musical Page Out of Theatre History, Will Get Lincoln Center Run (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/108551.html)
Hmm... I'm wondering if Jenny Powers will stay with The Glorious Ones, or if she'll stick with playing Rizzo in the upcoming Grease revival. Or if she could both?

Edi, sorry to hear of your sad news... Comfort vibes!

Hey say what you want about Paris Hilton. But she really outwitted the paparazi. She went to the MTV awards, and then snuck out. ANd then managed to go to a family house, sneak out again (i believe her sister was wearing a blonde wig to trick the media). And then she went through a tunnel at the prison. and only like one "news" crew got her photo.

Was there nothing in the meal of nutritional value? A slice of raw onion, perhaps?
Hold on a second here! What's this with hamburgers not having nutritional value?
Drawing from a quick Google, here's some information from the Ontario Cattleman's Association. (http://cattle.guelph.on.ca/kids_cattle/beef_everywhere/nutrition_a1.html)
Based on five patties per pound of ground beef, the average patty (no bun) made with lean ground beef, provides 10 essential nutrients including protein, B vitamins, iron, and zinc while contributing only 7.6 grams of fat and 139 calories. The same patty made with regular ground beef has 10.6 grams Of fat - less fat than found in a commercial muffin.
Sounds to me like our DR Jose should be eating more hamburgers, and less muffins!
-
It arrived today. Thank you. I can't wait to play it.
Good to know. There is still hope for MBarnum then.

Are there any redeeming moments in Val Kilmer's TEN COMMANDMENTS? Are there any half naked men, or anything?
One of the things I "fondly" remember about seeing The Ten Commandments: The New Spectacle Musical was that a bunch of male ensemble had six-pack abs. Maybe even an 8-pack in the bunch. However, when Mr. Kilmer was playing the "young Moses", it was clearly evident that his six-pack was "enhanced" with make-up, and I suspect there was a reason that Moses did not have a waxed chest. ;)
-
I have yet to see the DVD of The Ten Commandments, but can you read the big sigh of relief on Lauren Kennedy's face while she exits after her last big, Janet Jackson-ish type number?

I've been relaxing and trying not to use my voice, but I'm quite bored of that, so I shall now start speaking and not worrying anymore. Have to shave and shower and be at the theater by six or so, although just what we'll be doing for two hours before showtime is anyone's guess. I think we'll figure out how we're getting on and off stage and probably work on the little curtain call, but that's it for me - I won't sing out Louise until the show.
-
I had the great pleasure of seeing Bridget Hanley in the Theater West production of SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY in L.A. a few years back. I had been disappointed before going in that Lee Meriwether wasn't going to be performing (there were alternating casts), but Hanley was simply wonderful and memorable. One of my first tastes of L.A. theater, and it was a simple but top-notch production.

Been trying to watch MR ARKADIN. This thing makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Tonight on TCM begins a month-long series on the portrayals of gays throughout the history of cinema. Beginning with the short ALGIE THE MINER and continuing up to the present day, films will be shown on Monday and Wednesday evenings for the entire month of June. My DVR will be going into overdrive to catch movies I've heard about but never had a chance to see.
Today during lunch, I was able to exchange my defective DVR for another (hopefully NOT defective) DVR. I hadn't heard about this series. I'll definitely be recording these. Thanks for posting this!

Here's the question for the day: what is it with all the whores working MySpace.com?
-
Evening everyone!
I know some ears were burning today because I took the lovely card into work and told everyone about Mom’s star. Everyone told me what wonderful friends I have and I am proud to agree with them!
Again, I can not thank you enough for your kind, sweet gesture. I’m just looking for someplace to go so I can see Mom’s star for myself!
I am so very sorry to hear about Dear Dog Marty and Dear Kitty Walty. My most deepest condolences. I know they both had a better life for being in the care of someone from HHW. :'(

On The Lot will be on TOMORROW....they say, I don't understand how they can have the presentation AND elimination shows in a single hour on one night......but neither do I have any curiosity about finding out.

Did someone just call me? The phone rang and I answered but I couldn't hear anyone. Please call me again whoever you were!
-
DR RLP thanks for the additional codes.
Does anyone know how long the sale lasts?

All six seasons of NORTHERN EXPOSURE were filmed here in Washington State. During that time, they employed a great many local actors, both professional and non-professional. I know a large number of actors who worked at various times on the series, and I can tell that the one constant among every single individual, was their intense dislike of Mr. Morrow. At various times I heard him described as vain, self-centered, obnoxious, insensitive, foul-tempered, beliggerant, and a little Hitler. And those are just the terms that I remember.
Personally, I consider Rob Lowe a good actor and Mr Morrow, merely a famous name.

As do I. And some Cherry Coke.
-
I am listening to Mrs. Miller singing "Monday, Monday."
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater, after which I shall return.
-
All six seasons of NORTHERN EXPOSURE were filmed here in Washington State.
There was gossip that he was dating a fellow in the NYC Gay Men's Chorus while the series was running.
-
DR JRand, Did I ever tell you about the Dan Curtis Macabre Colleciton that I bought at Deep Discount?
It has:
Dracula
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
The Picture of Dorian Gray
The Turn of the Screw
I keep meaning to watch them but I never seem to get around to it.
-
Ho's have a right to their space, just like anyone else!
If a person feels the need to seek the services of an escort, that's another matter entirely. What I resent is the constant barrage of "Friend Requests" I receive from hookers working the site.
-
Here is the history of the tradition DR DANISE!! ;D
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Break_a_leg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Break_a_leg)
That was an interesting read but it still sounds funny.
-
Speaking of unpleasant people, why would anyone ever give the thoroughly repugnant and appallingly rude Fran Liebowitz, who's acting abilities are nil, recurring walkons on LAW & ORDER? I've had several run-ins with her at Drama Book Shop and she's a four-letter word of the lowest order.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater, after which I shall return.
Have a broken legged show, BK, but a safe drive there and back!
-
Mrs Miller "singing? Or are you referring to Dear Reader Laura?
-
DR Jose, I blame you for all liens, leans, loans and lones, whatever that is!
J'accuse!
No one is a loan.
-
If a person feels the need to seek the services of an escort, that's another matter entirely. What I resent is the constant barrage of "Friend Requests" I receive from hookers working the site.
Do you know many of them?
-
My goodness we have a quorum on the forum!!
How wonderful to see all your lovely faces!!!
How lovely to see all your wonderful faces!!!

Didn't he also do Dark Shadows?
-
I've never really bothered with "My Space.com". I'll have to give it a look/see sometime.
-
According to my CD playing at the moment, Nat King Cole is still attempting to sell his Cottage. (without the help of Natalie).
-
Didn't he also do Dark Shadows?
Yes, he did. ;D JRand and I are both BIG DS fans.
-
Mrs Miller "singing? Or are you referring to Dear Reader Laura?
Now she's "singing" "These Boots Are Made For Walking." I think she sounds like my grandmother.
-
My goodness we have a quorum on the forum!!

Hi Vixmom! Was that you who just tried to call me a little while ago?
-
If a person feels the need to seek the services of an escort, that's another matter entirely. What I resent is the constant barrage of "Friend Requests" I receive from hookers working the site.
OK, I know I'm going to stick my foot in this but I have to ask,
How do you know they're hookers?
-
Hi Vixmom! Was that you who just tried to call me a little while ago?
Not today although I was thinking of you... maybe my physic ability caused your ohone to ring! ;D
We'll have to ask Jack ;)
-
OK, I know I'm going to stick my foot in this but I have to ask,
How do you know they're hookers?
If a scanitly clad lady, not of your aquaintance comes over and asks if you are looking for a date , it is a pretty sure bet that's she's not simply hospitable
;)
-
Hi Danise. I didn’t call, if that helps.
I missed the sad news and am going to go read the details now.
-
Do you know many of them?
You thought I wouldn't recognize you in that fancy drag? I've seen better heads on beers.
I blame DR Jose for all of it.
-
Not today although I was thinking of you... maybe my physic ability caused your ohone to ring! ;D
We'll have to ask Jack ;)
and not just ANYONE can cause a ohone to ring! Phones of course are entirely differnt matter
-
We have such taste here. (Dear Reader Laura would be impressed). Mrs Miller made it to the top 40 here. She was only able to reach the lower rungs of the the top 100 in the USA.
-
Here's the question for the day: what is it with all the whores working MySpace.com?
I dunno, but I'm sure tired of all those "New Friend Requests". :-\
However, some of those whore are also responsible for hacking into accounts and "hiding" pics behind other member's pics. So be sure to check your own pics from time to time.
-
OK, I know I'm going to stick my foot in this but I have to ask,
How do you know they're hookers?
Trust me, DR Danise. They're sex workers, from the erotic photos to the "let's get together . . ." come-ons.
-
You thought I wouldn't recognize you in that fancy drag? I've seen better heads on beers.
I blame DR Jose for all of it.
LOL DR Elmore. True - the clothes were borrowed from DR Jose.
-
I don't think I will check out My Space after all. Doesn't sound like my kind of place.
-
I thought it was a site for teen agers from what I had heard about it on the news.
-
GRATUITOUS POST!
Washbourne abs:
Wow! I'd pay to see that...live...up close and personal... ;)
;D
-
More reasons for not bothering with the MySpace/My Friends etc internet connections.
I've never really understood the personal "blogs" concept either. If I wanted my friends to know about my "interesting" life - I would tell them personally. (or post at HHW)
-
Wow! I'd pay to see that...live...up close and personal... ;)
;D
Looked like the poor guy could use a meal or two to my eyes. ;) :D
-
I already have close friendships with people in North and West Africa who often need my assistance with banking.
-
Speaking of unpleasant people, why would anyone ever give the thoroughly repugnant and appallingly rude Fran Liebowitz, who's acting abilities are nil, recurring walkons on LAW & ORDER? I've had several run-ins with her at Drama Book Shop and she's a four-letter word of the lowest order.
I see.....not even worth a cedilla, eh?
-
I never understood blogs either. I used to keep a diary when I was younger but I never would have wanted the world to see what I wrote.
Note to self:
Hummm, just where did I put those things?
-
I thought it was a site for teen agers from what I had heard about it on the news.
It is, and college kids, and old coots, and professionals networking, and WHORES!
-
I already have close friendships with people in North and West Africa who often need my assistance with banking.
I get regular emails from the same people telling me what a good person I am and how they want to give me millions of dollars to put in my bank account. Not!
-
I see.....not even worth a cedilla, eh?
When I got to New York, her humorous writing was the epitome of Manhattan chic, and I enjoyed it. Then I met the old dyke: hostile, ugly, rude, bitchy. We all looked forward to her visits so much.
-
There was gossip that he was dating a fellow in the NYC Gay Men's Chorus while the series was running.
Hope his wife and daughter don't find out!
-
The Van Dyke Parks yahoo site is 90% spam from people who are trying to pimp for a "different" kind of dyke.
-
It is, and college kids, and old coots, and professionals networking, and WHORES!
Well, maybe they are just professionals. Networking. :D ;)
-
Hope his wife and daughter don't find out!
I only repeat what I've heard. I'm sure he knows of lots of other similar situations in the business.
-
Well, maybe they are just professionals. Networking. :D ;)
They're just poor girls photographed in lingerie and trying to make ends meet.
-
As for the Topic o' the Day:
My most rewarding class was The Dreaded Dr. C.'s Chamber of Horrors. NOT!
-
Do you guys need house seats? I think I may know someone. ;)
Thanks, DR Jose, we're all set, but maybe there are some other Hainsies or Kimlets (what is the difference, anyway?) who could use your help.
-
They're just poor girls photographed in lingerie and trying to make ends meet.
That is a shame. But I would guess some of them are just young girls who don't know any better and just want the attention.
-
Well, two down, one to go...
My brother and his wife decided take advantage of the temporary live-in uncle and go see a movie tonight. So, Uncle Jojo is now Babysitter. :)
After their post-dinner/pre-bedtime snack, both John and Alyssa went upstairs, washed up, brushed their teeth, changed into their pj's, and tucked themselves in. I've been trying to get Emily to follow suit - especially after changing her diaper, but every time I put her in her crib, she starts to stand up, then she starts to whimper... And Uncle Jojo comes over, picks her up, and walks her around a bit. So far, we've been walking around for about 30 minutes... ;)
She's starting to do the "sleepy eyes" thing where she rubs her hands in her eyes... Or she's pinching my arm - ??? - while I'm typing with the other. :)
-
Wow! I'd pay to see that...live...up close and personal... ;)
;D
Um... Well.. I think that's very possible. If you're on MySpace. ;D
-
Your such a good uncle!
I just found out I am a Great Aunt. In fact, I am a Great, Great Aunt.
-
9:30! Yikes! I have to go. I must sleep so I can get up and go to work.
Have a good evening all!
-
Nope, not yet! We on the West Coast of the USA are last on the Postal's delivery schedule, evidently.
Odd, I would have expected you to receive yours before I received mine.
-
If a person feels the need to seek the services of an escort, that's another matter entirely. What I resent is the constant barrage of "Friend Requests" I receive from hookers working the site.
I've been getting those a lot lately...and they're always from women! :P
I always report them as spam. ::)
-
But I alway enjoy him in Northern Exposure, and QUIZ SHOW
(I find Rob Morrow way more attractive, BTW.)
Me too! :)
-
I never understood blogs either. I used to keep a diary when I was younger but I never would have wanted the world to see what I wrote.
Note to self:
Hummm, just where did I put those things?
did you check ebay?
-
Speaking of these actors who appeal to the young people, exactly when was Rex Smith a teen idol, as reported in his bio?
-
Odd, I would have expected you to receive yours before I received mine.
I wonder if I addressed Michael's to Sister Smile.
-
Speaking of these actors who appeal to the young people, exactly when was Rex Smith a teen idol, as reported in his bio?
Late 70's, early 80's, I believe. Then came "Solid Gold". I still have nightmares of him singing "Eye of the Tiger" in leopard skin spandex. With a gold lamé headband, of course. :-\
-
When the children are asleep....
:)
-
That is probably it is and my groggy brain came up with Rob Morrow. .
LOL-look at the discussion you started :)
I liked Rob Lowe in WEST WING and felt they shouldn't have pulled away from his character, one of the more enjoyable ones on the show, IMHO.
Rob Morrow should never have left NORTHERN EXPOSURE, one of our all time favorite shows. We often watch re-runs. He was the anchor of the show & sadly it couldn't survive without him.
-
Ohh! A nice bit of news just posted over at Playbill.com:
Glorious Ones, a Musical Page Out of Theatre History, Will Get Lincoln Center Run (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/108551.html)
That's all fine and well, but what I want to know is...will it get a recording??
:)
-
Speaking of these actors who appeal to the young people, exactly when was Rex Smith a teen idol, as reported in his bio?
ooh in the 70's I guess it was, when was he in Pirates of Penzance on Broadway? He played Frederick and Loinda Rondstat was Mable...
but the Pirate King........ah.. the Pirate King...
my first glimpse of Mr. Kevin Kline.................................<sigh>
Oh Rex Smith.... late 70's I think
-
Is it unseemly to start a new page by drooling all over it?
-
My clipping service informs me that England's gift to horse's asses, now blessing Toronto with his presence, has been throwing stones at our fomer DR Noel today.
???
-
back in the day
-
I should think I would have remembered him.
-
I was a teenager in the 70s and I have no recollection of him at all.
-
Isn't NUMB3RS supposed to be a good show? (I keep forgetting to watch it.)
In my opinion it didn’t live up to its potential. The shows I thought were excellent (unfortunately there have been too few of those) were ones that usually centered on Rob Morrow’s character. More than often the show centers on the brother & his math theories, even when Morrow’s character should have solved the crime faster without the assistance.
I still occasionally watch the show for Morrow. Keith has given up on it.
-
Count me in as a Kline fan and I like "Loinda" a lot too. (I'm never disappointed with her CDs)
I'd forgotten about Rex on "solid gold".
-
Solid Gold - Marilyn McCoo in a different dimension.
-
I was a teenager in the 70s and I have no recollection of him at all.
Me too... didn't you read 16 Mag? Tigerbeat?
-
Apparently not.
-
Maybe I was too mature.
-
Stop laughing.
-
Count me in as a Kline fan and I like "Loinda" a lot too. (I'm never disappointed with her CDs)
I'd forgotten about Rex on "solid gold".
Only her special friends are allowed to call her Loinda ::)
maybe I can borrow DR elmore's secretary sometime
-
Edi I'm sorry to read of your losses. Vibes to you and your extended families.
-
We have such taste here. (Dear Reader Laura would be impressed). Mrs Miller made it to the top 40 here. She was only able to reach the lower rungs of the the top 100 in the USA.
I think Mrs. Miller is swell.
-
Stop laughing.
;D
I think I was already post college by time Mr. Smith made the scene... I was out of my teens by '77... perhaps you missed him for the same reason
-
Solid Gold - Marilyn McCoo in a different dimension.
...From which she never really left/escaped/recovered. ;)
-And didn't Sheena Easton do a stint on "Solid Gold" for a while too?
Oh, and, of course, one cannot forget those "Solid Gold Dancers"!
-
Oh I just was catching up ... Edi I am so very sorry
-
back in the day
I think he looks like one of the Semonski sisters on The Lawrence Welk Show.
-
;D
I think I was already post college by time Mr. Smith made the scene... I was out of my teens by '77... perhaps you missed him for the same reason
I was still a teen in 1977.
-
My grizzly day yesterday, my poor night's sleep last night, and my 2 glasses of "red juice" before/with dinner have done me in.
'night!
-
I liked Sheena's recording until the "Prince" era. Her "No Strings" Cd is fine.
-
I was still a teen in 1977.
Despite being born in 1900.
-
Despite being born in 1900.
;)
-
That's all fine and well, but what I want to know is...will it get a recording??
:)
I'm pretty sure it will. RCA - or whatever the company is now - seems to "like" them. I mean, if "A Man of No Importance" can get recorded, well..
-
Despite being born in 1900.
hey! >:(
-
-I'm not disparaging "A Man of No Importance", just saying that if a show that had a limited run can get recorded, well, then... And if not RCA, then most likely PS Classics. I hope.
-
I'm pretty sure it will. RCA - or whatever the company is now - seems to "like" them. I mean, if "A Man of No Importance" can get recorded, well..
speaking of recordings has there been any news of a certain OCR ever seeing the light of day?
-
I love "A Man Of No Importance". (More satisfying than "Dessa Rose")
The film is very worthwhile too - and available on DVD
-
;)
I was outraged for you Laura, I know you are too sweet and nice ;)
;D
-
Not the film of the musical DR George.
-
DR Jane...I keep forgetting to post: Thanks so much for sharing your anniversary with us last night. So wonderful! And how good it must have felt to let Sherlock really ROMP!!!! :)
So are so sweet, thank you. Words can't express how happy we were. If only we could live there & take him to the beach every day.
-
I think he looks like one of the Semonski sisters on The Lawrence Welk Show.
shhh don't tell any one
-
speaking of recordings has there been any news of a certain OCR ever seeing the light of day?
I was just about to mention...
Of course, there are shows that do get recorded, but never have their OCR released.
Mercury? Are you listening? ;)
-
I was outraged for you Laura, I know you are too sweet and nice ;)
;D
It is Dear Reader Laura who claims to have been born in 1900! (and thus does not have a birth date song "Ma Tiger Lily" CD)
-
I was a teenager in the 70s and I have no recollection of him at all.
I was a teenager in the 70s and I don't remember him either
-
Not the film of the musical DR George.
Darn. :(
;D
-
I was just about to mention...
Of course, there are shows that do get recorded, but never have their OCR released.
Mercury? Are you listening? ;)
But think how valuable existing recordings are.
-
-I'm not disparaging "A Man of No Importance", just saying that if a show that had a limited run can get recorded, well, then... And if not RCA, then most likely PS Classics. I hope.
I think it was JAY that recorded both "A Man of No Importance" and "Dessa Rose." I would assume that JAY might be Ahrens & Flaherty's recording label of choice.
-
I was still a teen in 1977.
Me too..
-
I think it was JAY that recorded both "A Man of No Importance" and "Dessa Rose." I would assume that JAY might be Ahrens & Flaherty's recording label of choice.
Ah... You are correct, Sir!
-
DR Edi - I am so sorry for all of your losses and those of your friends and family Vibes to you~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My this is a busy night here on HHW
-
Late 70's, early 80's, I believe. Then came "Solid Gold". I still have nightmares of him singing "Eye of the Tiger" in leopard skin spandex. With a gold lamé headband, of course. :-\
Before 1980, which was the summer in Central Park of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE. Rex Smith was already a pop star.
-
OK, I know I'm going to stick my foot in this but I have to ask,
How do you know they're hookers?
LOL-I was wondering the same thing. I just figured someone more worldly than I would know the difference. :)
-
Before 1980, which was the summer in Central Park of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE. Rex Smith was already a pop star.
Mr Smith had a #10 song in 1979. (You Take My Breath Away)
He will be 50 in September.
-
With her fingers!!!!
*rimshot*
Which reminds me of one of the many jokes I remember from "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson"...
-What the difference between a vitamin and a hormone.
I don't know, what's the difference between a vitamin and a hormone?
-You can't make a "vita" "min".
Brief puzzled pause... Followed by some "oh, that was naughty" laughter.
;)
-
It is Dear Reader Laura who claims to have been born in 1900! (and thus does not have a birth date song "Ma Tiger Lily" CD)
dang I forgot (we old people do that a lot) ::)
outrage reversed!! :-* ;D
-
I was just about to mention...
Of course, there are shows that do get recorded, but never have their OCR released.
Mercury? Are you listening? ;)
maybe if we speak up
MERCURY ARE YOU LISTENING?!!!!
-
But think how valuable existing recordings are.
ah, if only one could get one
-
More catching up... belated anniversary wishes to the lovely Jane and her dashing Keith
belated birthday wishes to the Mama de Jose
-
Well I must wander back to the many tasks that are awaiting me.... hugs and vibes to all
-
Rex Smith shot to fame with a TV movie called "Sooner or Later." it was aimed at teen girls, but I somehow noticed the barrage of advertising.
:)
-
LOL-I was wondering the same thing. I just figured someone more worldly than I would know the difference. :)
Jane and Danise, you don't have to "know" the difference...you just know the difference. ::)
;)

Thank you Vixmom

Man Makes Woman Fill His SUV With Gas (http://www.comcast.net/news/strange/index.jsp?cat=STRANGE&fn=/2007/06/04/680694.html&cvqh=itn_gastank)
By Associated Press
SALT LAKE CITY - A woman was held up during a fill-up. The woman was pumping gasoline Sunday morning when a man stuck something in her back, told her it was a gun and ordered her to start filling up his sport utility vehicle instead of her own car, said Salt Lake City police Detective Jared Wihongi.
"This is definitely not common," Wihongi said Monday.
The woman put $15 worth in the other vehicle's tank before her debit card reached its limit.
Wihongi said surveillance video at the station showed two men in a large, white sport utility vehicle with Wyoming license plates. They could face aggravated robbery charges.
The woman was so shaken up by the incident she didn't call police until about three hours later.
-
Rex Smith was also quite wonderful in one of the interim Broadway versions of Wildhorn's THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL.
-
Sympathy and comfort vibes for DR’s SSW, Derbrucer, TPunk & Rodzinsky.
Healthy vibes for TCB’s Angel & all the other sweet HHW furry family members.
-
Mr Smith had a #10 song in 1979. (You Take My Breath Away)
He will be 50 in September.
Yeah, the year I graduated. I remember the song just not him.
It had very creative lyrics...
You. You take my breath away. I don't know what to say. You take my breath away.
-
Rex Smith shot to fame with a TV movie called "Sooner or Later." it was aimed at teen girls, but I somehow noticed the barrage of advertising.
:)
The source of his only solo hit song.
-
Rex Smith was also quite wonderful in one of the interim Broadway versions of Wildhorn's THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL.
DR Sandra loves that recording.
-
The source of his only solo hit song.
He may have had a solo hit song, but that doesn't quite make one a teen idol, does it?
-
Not in my book either Laura. His only other "hit" was a duet with Rachel Sweet.
-
Mr Smith may have had a New York fan base of course. His older brother was lead singer of a New York rock band.
-
It's 10:00 and I know where the ice cream is.....
-
It's time for me to leave work, go home and try out my new DVR! I'm sure that if anything's wrong with it, I won't find out for quite some time. :-\ But, I can just exchange it again, if I need to. Until later!
-
Well, time for some major cuteness! ;)
First, my goddaughter and niece...
-
And now...
My niece, Alyssa, and her grandmother - a.k.a. The Birthday Girl!
And now Emily and her grandfather...
-
They are darling!
-
Here's the cake... Oh, and the grandkids with their grandparents...
My brother, Don, took some more shots of the festivities yesterday, but I'm still waiting for those.
-
I call this one, "Goobers Under Glass"...
-
Like uncle, like niece... or is that the other way around?
-
Oh, and here are the other "kids" in the house...
And they're asleep now too..
-
Oh.. Iki is the chihuahua, and Manchita is the dalmation.
Iki was born in Hawaii, and "Iki" means "small" in Hawaiian. Manchita was born in Puerto Rico. "Mancha" is "spot", so "manchita" is "small spot". :)
-
Thanks DR JoJo.
-
I had a full evening of viewing.
I began with PRIMEVAL, a very minor league JAWS-clone only with a crocodile instead of a great white. And with it being set in Burundi, it gave the writer a chance to get in his licks about the genocide and civil wars going on there and Rwanda.
But it's pretty lame stuff with a creature that's a total CGI creation. It's done well enough for believability (can crocs really move that quickly?) but the scares are all predictable and telegraphed badly.
-
Thanks for the pictures, DR Jose. Enjoyed them.
-
I also watched the 9 minute documentary on the creation of the creature in PRIMEVAL and also the three deleted scenes on the disc.
-
Major AWWW.
-
Next I put in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, the 1977 film version which just came out on DVD.
It does look sharper with better color than it's ever looked before on home video, and the 1.66:1 aspect ratio is presented on video for the first time, too.
Sad to say, it's NOT an anamorphic transfer, and the print they used for the transfer has lots of debris and black scratches. During "Now/Later/Soon," at one point there are three black scratches running down the image, all clearly visible because the scene is taking place in a bed with cream colored sheets.
The sound is Dolby Prologic 2.0 mono, and it doesn't have much body to it, especially on the low end.
A shame, but it's likely the only one we'll ever get.
-
How come "anamorphic" sounds, to me at least, like they altered the pic, rather than presenting it in it's original format?
-
Next I watched last night's ENTOURAGE. It is the third season finale episode with Vince finally getting his movie financed. Looks like next season (which starts in two weeks) will at least at first be about the making of this lifelong dream project of his.
-
How come "anamorphic" sounds, to me at least, like they altered the pic, rather than presenting it in it's original format?
Not altered at all. Merely coded on the DVD in such as way as to increase the resolution for those who have widescreen TVs. Those with 4:3 TVs notice no difference at all.
-
Next I began the movie FROM THE TERRACE. I've never seen this movie before. It's available on DVD, but I thought before I spent the money I'd get it off the Fox Movie Channel and watch it before investing (though admittedly, a new copy is less than $10). I onl;y got about 10 minutes into it, but since it's over 2 hours, I've saved most of it to watch tomorrow.
-
Not altered at all. Merely coded on the DVD in such as way as to increase the resolution for those who have widescreen TVs. Those with 4:3 TVs notice no difference at all.
Ah, I see, said the blind man.
And just what is the ratio for those with widescreen TVs (since it's not 4:3)?
-
Ah, I see, said the blind man.
And just what is the ratio for those with widescreen TVs (since it's not 4:3)?
Same ratio as those with a 4:3 set. For A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, 1.66:1 across the width of whatever screen you're dooing the measuring with. With the anamorphic enhancement on a widescreen TV, the letterbox bars go away due to the added resolution.
Remember that you're measuring PICTURE AREA, not size of TV screen.
-
And now, I must do a little writing before heading down for bed.
Good night!
-
Speaking of these actors who appeal to the young people, exactly when was Rex Smith a teen idol, as reported in his bio?
He's an Atlanta boy, so I remember when he was big with the teeny boppers---he had that beautiful mane of hair back when there were manes!
-
Is anyone else wondering if DR MattH is writing a book?
-
Hi everyone...
-
Remember the mane!!!
This was back when he was "Sexy Rexy"!
-
Speaking of these actors who appeal to the young people, exactly when was Rex Smith a teen idol, as reported in his bio?
Back in the 70s

Anyone remember me?
I used to wander around these parts, many moons ago... Then I got a new job and planned a wedding and went on a honeymoon, and now I'm coming back to poke my head in and say hello...and accept the bitchslappings I probably deserve for being so very very errant and truant
-
Hello, Mrs. Jed!
-
My idea of a teen idol:
-
...From which she never really left/escaped/recovered. ;)
-And didn't Sheena Easton do a stint on "Solid Gold" for a while too?
Oh, and, of course, one cannot forget those "Solid Gold Dancers"!
Yes she did...
-
So, Ann...
Anything to tell us?
-
I only repeat what I've heard. I'm sure he knows of lots of other similar situations in the business.
Like a famous broadway/movie star having a "close" relationship with his stand-in on a film shot here in GA? That always struck me as the height of narcissism.
-
Odd, I would have expected you to receive yours before I received mine.
And today the Oz birthday CD has still not arrived...maybe Salem is in some kind of time vortex or something.
-
Before I forget...two things I wanted to say
One, to DR George - THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for that CD of the Australian performance of The Secret Garden. Anthony Warlow gives me chills every time I hear him sing. The CD has spent much of the last three months in my car with me.
Two, to Tomovoz and Colin, thank you both for the beautiful card. It is sitting in a place on honor on the mantle.
-
My favorite 80s Aussie band was Men At Work. I also liked Air Supply in small doses. INXS was good also.
I like the Bee Gees also but they do not fit into any decade precisely.
-
Rob Morrow should never have left NORTHERN EXPOSURE, one of our all time favorite shows. We often watch re-runs. He was the anchor of the show & sadly it couldn't survive without him.
He left when the scripts started getting bad---he was only missing from the last 10 episodes or so. Paul Provenza was a very poor substitute.
My favorite episodes were, of course, the ones featuring Bill Irwin (who, I beleive, must live close to Zingstraw.)
-
I vaguely remember Leif Garrett but not no recollection of Rex Smith. I was a teen/ early 20s in the 1980s
-
In the 1980s I was watching Sesame Street.
-
I echo DR Laura....
Major AWWWWWW! THey are absolutely precious Jose.. Thanks for sharing!
-
In the 1980s I was watching Sesame Street.
What was funny was in the dorm I lived in at the time, the number of people watching Sesame Street and Electric Company
-
Hi everyone...
Hello Ann!
I hope all is well with you and Jed!
-
My idea of a teen idol:
Oh yes.... the fangurlz like him....
-
Wasn't "Sexy Rexy" Rex Harrison?
-
Laura, 20 to go to reach 5000!
Post away dear, post away!!
-
I was thinking of a character that I called Sexy RExy... Sigh....
-
DR Jose, what nice family photos!
-
At the height of Rex Smith's fame,. he opted to do Broadway shows like THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE and then a short while later, THE HUMAN COMEDY. He could have made lots of money elsewhere, one would think.
-
And, for those of you who are interested...the wedding was simply wonderful, the best I could have imagined...and here are a few pics!

-
Jose, Your neices are adorable.. Emily is cute as a button!
-
TO REACH HIS OWN - my comedy about a star falling in love with his stand-in, or something like that
-
I recall both Rex Smith and Leif Garrett from the 70s...but I didn't care for either one...as a teen my "teen idols" were Tom Wopat and Tom Selleck...although I guess they weren't teens, were they.
-
Lovely photos tonight!
-
NICE wedding photos DR Ann! Say hi to Jed for me!! I am so happy for you two!
-
Ann, you look simply beautiful in your gown. Beautiful pictures!
-
page 19 dance.....
-
Wow, I never knew Rex Smith from anything except the video of Pirates....how funny to see him as a teen idol!
-
Beautiful photos, Ann.
-
Rex Smith is much cuter now...and if he had looked like this when I was a teen...well!!
A few years back he was doing a series of TV commercials for some laundry detergent, IIRC.

HE looks like Brody Hutzler!
HHWer, have any of you ever had crushes on particular characters?
I am too embarrassed to say mine....
-
I do like him with facial hair, MBarnum...very cute. I always liked Kevin Kline more in Pirates, though...I liked the rough scraggy pirate look I suppose...and the leather pants didn't hurt either...
-
Edi I'm sorry to read of your losses. Vibes to you and your extended families.
Thank you for the vibes, DR Jane. I had a double session with a deadline, so my mom went to the funeral home. Everyone was so glad to see her because they didn't know how to get in touch with my brother.
Even if he had known in time, I don't think he would have been able to go. He has a hard time dealing with emotional situations.
I did get home in time to light candles for Danise's mom, our friend Tom, Jack, Rusty, Walty, Marty and Augustus.
Augustus was our kitty friend in England that I mentioned earlier. When I got home tonight, there was a huge box of presents, most of them from Augustus to our kitties. They gathered around as we opened each present, (15 in all I think) expecting something new to play with. It really did seem like Christmas for them!
There was also a card with a picture of Augustus playing with bubbles, and on the back, a small photo of the bubble gun we had given him years ago.
I have been crying a lot tonight...
-
((Edi))
-
Thanks, DR Dakota. I've been trying to post a picture of the great Augustus, but to no avail. You all must just settle for imagining him in his spleandor.
-

crikey... they look almost alike
-
Thanks, DR Dakota. I've been trying to post a picture of the great Augustus, but to no avail. You all must just settle for imagining him in his spleandor.
I am!!
I used to have a Norwegian Forest cat named Spades.. He was a hoot and I was saddened when he passed away. He was a huge cat and felt wonderful on your feet in the winter...

You're very welcome! I'm glad that I was able to find it! ;D

And Congrats on officially becoming TCB's daughter-in-law!! ;)
-
Ann, those are lovely pictures of you and Jed!
-
Wonderful photos, Ann and Jose!
-
And Jose posted some very nice pictures, also!

My replacement DVR seems to be working quite well. So far, so good!

If I ever see this movie again, I will never be able to watch it with a straight face after seeing that hilarious clip
-
Here is my favorite Rex.
-
He looks so sweet Sandra!
-
Lovely to see you DR Ann. Best of wishes to you and Mr Slaughter.
-
Holy smokes, nineteen pages - I have to eat now, and then I'll play ketchup. I have much to say about this evening's performance.
-
PAGE 20 DANCE!!
-
We have not hit 20 pages in a while...

I need to get to 8031...
-
Sandra, how many cats do you have?
-
Do you get snow in Melbourne in the winter Tom?
-
four more to go to my goal for the night...
-
We could definitely use some warm weather up here. Rather cool for June with temps in the 60s today
-
any cures for a charley horse in your feet?
-
I am on my own frenzy!
-
bk, have you ever had thai food?
-
George and Tom, have you tried Thai food?
-
Sandra, how many cats do you have?
I have two (Rex and Sasha), Mom has Joshie, and Bloog has Sassy, who answers to "Fish."
-
And I have never tried Thai food.
-
I need to get to 8031...
You made it...and then some! :D
-
I have two (Rex and Sasha), Mom has Joshie, and Bloog has Sassy, who answers to "Fish."

interesting name for a cat...
-
You made it...and then some! :D
Go check the rankings...
-
Bloog is my brother.
-
Funny how a couple of oscar night posting frenzies can bump ya up..
-
Ahhh, I understand... How old are Rex and Sasha?
-
George and Tom, have you tried Thai food?
A friend of mine gave me some Thai (inspired?) frozen entrees that weren't too bad. And I think I had some kind of tofu salad quite a few years ago at a Thai restaurant, but that's about it...if I remember correctly.
-
Joshie is attached to your mum.. BTW, Sandra, she is a very nice person in my book!
-
Go check the rankings...
You're now the 13th highest poster!
Good job!! ;)
-
Caught up, eaten, and must now scurry to write the notes.
Yes, Dakota, I've eaten Thai food many times and quite enjoy it.
-
I got them both when they were already grown up, so I don't know, but Sasha (in my avatar) is about ten and Rexy is maybe six.
-

A freind of mine who I helped do a number of things over the years gave me a recipe book of Southeast Asian and Indian cooking and taught me how to make soem of hte dishes. I love Pad Thai noodles and put in veggies with them.
-
I also like Mango Chicken and Marsala.
-
Both my niece and sister are vegetarians (it was my niece's idea) and they make some Thai stuff all the time...or so they tell me.
-
My other passion is Mediterrenean cooking. I love Greek and Southern Spanish cooking which has influences from North Africa.
-
There is very little meat in Thai cooking
-
And since we're so close...
-
[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]PAGE 21 POST # 600 DANCE!![/move]
-
I am going to attempt to go to sleep. Good night!
-
I also like Mango Chicken and Marsala.
Masala - maybe? instead of "Marsala"? -Although, since fusion cooking is still alive and well...
-
gOOD NIGHT sANDRA!
-
I have not been as successful with Chinese and Japanese cooking.
FArgo has a wonderful Korean / Japanese restaurant. I have even tried Vietnamese food.
-
SPOO!! Good night, Sandra.
;)
-
Yikes, I misspelled it!
-
NN Sandra and pleasant dreams.... I am not far behind her in that department. I have to work at 1030 am.
-
The only food i truly dislike is Lutefisk!
-
There is very little meat in Thai cooking
Although, there are lots of veggies in Thai cooking, trust me, there is also a lot of meat in Thai cooking: beef, pork, chicken, duck, etc. And lots of seafood too. Duck in Red Curry is one of my favorite Thai dishes. And it's a hot one too! Spicy that is.
-
And in some ways Thai is closely related to Vietnamese cooking. One of my favorite Thai "starters" is a green papaya salad, preferably with the sun-dried beef on top.
-
And on that note, I believe I shall just wait until the "morning" to read the new Notes... Tomorrow/today is a travel day for me.
Goodnight.
-
OH!!!
And a VERY HAPPY WELCOME BACK to DRs Ann and Jed!
Our first HHW Marriage!
