Well, you've read the notes, the notes kept all their balls in the air, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - their balls are in the air and frankly they're confused by that.
-
And the word of the day is: CALLIPYGIAN!
That's what I'M talkin' about.
-
Welcome twenty GUESTS.
-
And a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to beckon, whomever beckon is.
-
I guess "Mulholland Drive" and "2001 A Space Odyssey" both leave questions and room for thought.
-
"Man on the Train" (French movie 2002?) Johnny Hallyday - is the most thought provoking movie I've seen recently.
-
Goodnight DR George.
-
Good night, Tom! And BK!

Bend it like beckon?

Since I'm the only one in the jernt I'm going to hie to the bedroom and try to get some sleep!

Good morning, all! Thanks for the continued lease vibes, DR singdaw; there was a glitch yesterday and I have no idea how the situation will work out. We were also formally served an eviction notice yesterday from the current office space, so we'll see what happens next. Oy!
CALLIPYGIAN has been one of my favorite words since college. I can't remember now if I first heard it in an art history class or something else now, but there are too few really good examples of the word on the streets.
DR Matt H, THE UNINVITED is both one of my favorite 1940s novels and favorite ghost films. Cornelia Otis Sknner is the most demented repressed lesbians since Judith Anderson's housekeeper in REBECCA. I guess Bob Osborne's idea of a crazy dyke is Hope Emerson.
Back to Toyland, and then to the NYPL. As for the TOD, haven't got time for the pain.

I needed my sleep, so, consequently, I'm rushing a bit this morning to get out of the house and back down to Chelsea, but before I do...

DR MBarnum - It sounds like your DVR may be full, and may have started recording over some of your existing episodes to make room for the "new" ones. -Is that possible?

I meant to comment last night on THE UNINVITED: I've seen this movie a couple of times since it's been in TCM rotation the past few years, but it wasn't until Robert Osbourn and his co-host brought it up last night that I ever realized that Skinner's character was a lesbian (but then again, I do have incredibly bad gaydar.) Now I also find it laughable that both Osbourn and his gay co-host found this to be a stretch of the imagination. Sheesh--of course, she's a lesbian!
In any case, I never understood why this character was in the film to begin with. She's really an unnecessary red herring in a fine ghost story that doesn't need such a distraction.

I did not watch THE UNINVITED last night, as I have it on several tapes, own and have read the book, and back in the nineties wrote a script for an intended remake which never happened for several reasons I won't go into here. But oddly enough, I had an email conversation last week with Bob Osbourne (who I know ever so slightly through mutual friends) where we discussed it...as I was inquiring as to why they showed some Paramount pictures (such as THE UNINVITED) and not others (such as star of the month Ida Lupino's great performance in THE LIGHT THAT FAILED). It all has to do with what package they've currently rented from Paramount. Anyway, in my email I mentioned that I had gone back to the book for my remake, emphasizing the part of the sister and that I had been "a tad more overt with the lesbian touches in the Cornelia Otis Skinner character...though God knows, she was pretty overt in the original movie."
Like you, Larry, I really admire the book and the movie. One of the problems with remaking it is the original is quite good and John Huston's admonition echoes in one's brain:" Why do they always remake our good movies; why don't they remake our bad ones."
Still I thought I had an interesting take on the film that was probably more faithful to the book than the movie.
-
Raining here today, finally.
We had some good auditioners last night....but we do not yet have a Luisa....hopefully there are some prospects coming in tonight.

It's the only reason I would any more. My uncle (the one who took us to NYC on all those trips) was a baseball junkie, so I spent many an hour at Yankee Stadium and the old Polo Grounds (before the Mets moved). The uniforms the players wear now certainly point up the physical prowess of many of these wonderful athletes.

DR MBarnum:
Doesn't your Tivo have an option to save shows unless you manually delete them? My DVR certainly does. I still have the Winter Olympics ladies short and long programs on mine from February 2006. I keep meaning to dub the performances I want to a DVD, but I never seem to get around to it.
-
Good Morning! Once Again...
Well... So far, 180+ people are signed up. Alas, that means we're going to have to "type out". One of the biz's unfortunate necessary evils.
But, at least we have a nice turnout of folks.
-
Glad to read all these comments about THE UNINVITED. I had never seen it before, and I enjoyed it thoroughly (and Ray Milland isn't one of my favorite actors).
-
One of the most baffling movies I ever watched was a Polish film called BARRIER which was shown in a film studies class I took back in the 1970s. Though it had incredible images, the story seemed a hopeless muddle and the symbolism beyond my comprehension. The movie got shown on an ETV station several times over the course of a month, and after watching it quite a few times, I could finally piece together its story.
In certain ways, it took me several viewings of 2001 for me to understanding its story, too. Some films just can't be grasped in one sitting. I don't know if that's an inherent weakness in the film or not, but I certainly took my time figuring out both of these movies.
-
Looking forward to LUCY/MAME this afternoon. The laserdisc had very solid colors and good clarity for a laserdisc (clarity in all scenes that don't feature close-ups of Lucy, that is). I hope Warners did right by the film, flawed though it no doubt is.
-
I didn't erase THE CLOSER from the DVR last night, so I may rewatch it, too. That, along with ENTOURAGE, STUDIO 60, and NANCY DREW REPORTER should make up the bulk of my viewing today.
And LIFE ON THE D-LIST, of course, this evening unless I decide to record it and watch it sans commercials tomorrow.
-
I already got lots of work done, and it's only 10:30. that's different!
-
Good morning dear Esteemed, busy, juggled, and plotzed BK --
I want the new mystery to be released EARLIER than this Fall !! That is poopy to know about it, anticipate it, and then have to wait that long. :(
But congratulations on finishing up yet another of your creations in print! You deserve a hickey!

BK - Here's what my library's material selection policy says about young adult literature:
"YOUNG ADULT COLLECTION
Adolescence is the transitional age from childhood to maturity and an experimental stage during which young people investigate a wide variety of interests. Young adults may use a wider range of library materials than any other age group. While the entire collection is available to the young adult, the library recognizes that certain materials have a special appeal or message for this group. Some items are purchased only for the young adult collection. However, many items found here are duplicated in the children's collection, in the adult collection, or in both.
The young adult collection includes recreational reading, including fiction and non-fiction, paperbacks, magazines, and graphic novels (comic book format), particularly appropriate to adolescents ages 12 through 18. It is not intended to be a comprehensive collection serving all the needs and interests of young adults, nor is it the library's intention that young adults should be confined to the use of this material.
Materials are selected for this collection to broaden the horizons of young adults and help them to cope with the problems of adolescence. To fulfill these needs, the collection will inevitably include materials on controversial topics...."

Aw, thanks for the shoulder-rub vibes. Thankfully, because we're currently type-ing - which is why I'm able to type right now (on my laptop's keyboard) - I haven't started playing yet. And by the time we're done with this process, we should be down to about 50-60 people. Not too bad. And they'll just be doing a quick 16-bars - we have to be done by 2:00 (I hope).

I think I need to find a copy of this book and read it.
I have a question: is THE UNINVITED the first Hollywood movie to deal with ghost in a serious manner? I can't think of any previous film in which ghosts weren't simply explained away as fakery or used for comedic effect.

OH!
Attention All NYC-Bound Hainsies and Kimlets - and those who are already Bound to NYC...
Is there anyone who would like to go on another HHW Walking And Eating And Walking And Eating Tour next week? Right now, my Thursday and Friday days are open, as well as Sunday (although, I suspect I'm going to get called in to play ACL that afternoon).
I'm thinking of just a "simple" walk through the Park - featuring the Reservoir. And, of course, the sojourn will either commence or end with a stop at Levain. :)
Any takers? You can just PM or e-mail me.
*I'd also be more than happy to print out a "Best Of/Must See/Must Eat Guide" for anyone who would like to venture out on their own.

Another thing to look for with shows that are recorded with Season Pass: there is a setting that tells the Tivo unit how many episodes to keep of a given show. I don't know off the top of my head what the default is, but I know that it can be turned off so that all recorded epsodes will remain until you decide to manually delete them.

Nah....I think it's more probably for things like this:

As a teacher, one had to keep his teaching credential updated by taking courses (six hours worth) every five years. (Other states have different requirements than SC.)
I DESPISED being a student with assignments, papers, tests, etc. after having done that my entire life. The learning was great; never minded that and in fact reveled in it, and I was always SO thankful for professors who gave us a syllabus, a list of requrements, and we mostly worked on our own until the things were due. I was definitely a self-motivating student as a middle adged adult.

Congrats Miss Karen!

Walking to work the last couple days I have seen them loading out the PIRATE QUEEN sets. B'way moves fast.

Guess I'll head down now and read for a bit before starting on lunch preparation.

Capital idea! And after the heat wave (or as they say come Fall -- I don't do Phoenix in the summer unless it's only to catch a plane) I'll head down the hill for brunch some morning...I want to be there when DR MusicGuy stands up and yells "Underpants!" in an eatery ...
-
Congrats Miss Karen!
Thanks! Now I get to start working on my fall semester practicum -- I'm the asst. director for Suburb, that new musical, that will open at our theatre this September -- but no rest for the weary -- I have a meeting with the choreographer this afternoon. But I enjoy the right brain stuff -- especially after this left-brain semester!
-
And speaking of meetings, got to go get ready for our post-mortem meeting for the Children's Theatre Workshop we had two weeks ago -- and then the theatre's marketing committee meeting -- Theatre Meetings Day!

Gratuitous post for Mr. P (make him do some reading this morning)

I am going to run errands now. I am very frustrated with the fact that some folks are not responding to me when I ask for their approval for the minutes that I sent them last November. And in May. And twice in June. My deadline is tomorrow, they know it, and yet they don't respond.
I am sure by the time I get back, I will have a response in my inbox. I am certain of it.
-
As we were leaving, he stood and announced: "They pee inside now."
Charming.
Was there any reaction from other patrons?
-
BK - more on language in young adult books. I just had a chat with our YA Specialist, who said it's more of an issue in school libraries than in public libraries. And, it's less of an issue if the words in question are contextual. The big 3 issues in YA selection are language, sexual content, and violence and anytime any of those are gratuitous, there's a chance that a book would be excluded.
-
Charming.
Was there any reaction from other patrons?
Nope..... apparently they all had their own places to pee already. ::)

Last night, I watched my HD DVD of "Field of Dreams".
There were some stunning moments, visually, and some ordinary ones. HD DVD isn't 100% effective when applied to older movies.
The film, however, remains one of my few very favorites. As much as it expects leaps of faith and and a willingness to suspend disbelief, it remains an emotionally gutwrenching film for me.
I cry like a baby....and it seems the more often I see it, the earlier I feel the tears start to come.
I LOVE this movie beyond reason, I guess. But I DO love it, nonetheless.
-
DR MBarnum - It sounds like your DVR may be full, and may have started recording over some of your existing episodes to make room for the "new" ones. -Is that possible?
Well, it has only been at about 60 % full so I don't think that could be it, and no other programs are disappearing. I think the machine is just rejecting the thought of Bat Masterson...or Allison Hayes :-[
-

It does and I made sure to set it to that option when taping Bat Masterson...we shall see if that helps.

Interesting information re libraries - I'll let some people in the know read it and see what the consensus is - as I said, I didn't pander to a demographic (like the current Nancy Drew film), I just wrote the book I wanted to write. But isn't S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders somewhat raw for that age group?

I don't much know from surreal films...I think...although some would consider most of the films that I watch as surreal...or maybe that it is surreal that I would watch them. Whatever. Anyway, BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS is the only overtly surreal film I can think of that I liked a lot.
-
With regards to the case of the missing Bat Mastersons I guess I will just burn them to DVR as I accumulate 4 episodes...I had wanted to try to get the remaining 2 or 3 Allison Hayes episodes on one DVDr, but I will just put one episode on the disc and she can share space with Kathleen Crowely, Yvette Vickers, and Gloria Talbott episodes. I don't think she would mind.

Yes, and The Outsiders is #43 on the American Library Association's 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 1990-2000 (http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/bannedbooksweek/bbwlinks/100mostfrequently.htm).

When I was a freshman in college, I saw Antonioni's L'AVENTURRA. I had never seen anything like it. I was amazed and befuddled. That film and SANSHO THE BAILIFF(which also amazed me) I have avoided watching on TV/DVD because I'm afraid that they won't live up to my memory of them. Books usuallly deepen with a re-read, but I have't always found that the casl tih movies.

TNT's Season 3 Premiere of THE CLOSER is BEST OF ALL TIME
With more than 8.8 million viewers and 6.3 million households, TNT's THE CLOSER once again broke its own record by scoring ad-supported cable's best delivery of all time for a series telecast.
Last night's third-season premiere averaged 8,812,000 persons 2+ and 6,376,000 households, beating the same records THE CLOSER set with its season 2 premiere last year.
This year's premiere as 4% higher among persons 2+ vs. last year's 8,499,000 delivery and 3% higher among households vs. last year's 6,173,000 delivery.
THE CLOSER also showed growth when compared to last year's season 2 premiere among adults 18-49 (2,909,000; +5% vs. last year's 2,767,000 delivery) and among adults 25-54 (3,799,000; +3% vs. last year's 3,706,000 delivery).
Overall, THE CLOSER's season 3 premiere scored an extremely strong 6.8 household coverage rating/5.6 national rating.

Kopit's OH, DAD, POOR DAD . . . and THE DAY THE WHORES CAME OUT TO PLAY TENNIS
Ionesco's THE CHAIRS, THE LESSON, and THE BALD SOPRANO
TV: POPULAR, the Season One closer was so far in left field I can't wait to see Season Two

I will get controversial for a moment: So when producers kvetch that people who audiiton aren't well-prepared for a specific audition, let me remind them of the times that people prepare, even hire a coach to learn something, and then get typed out. :)
-
Will she and the Matt continue the zaftig concept of the CINDERELLA?
Matt is tall and skinny. ;D
-
Walking to work the last couple days I have seen them loading out the PIRATE QUEEN sets. B'way moves fast.
Cain's Warehouse. :D
-
Congrats to DR MISSKAREN on completion of her classes....dare I saw moving toward become a Master!
Congrats to DR EDISAURUS on her fantastic rating....and a VERY good CLOSER episode....the first time I have EVER watched. I watched the midnight edition.
-
Yes DR BRIAN if you liked L'AVENTURRA you must by all means catch AVENTERERRA....unless you don't like Mexican musical melodramas with Cuban leading ladies.

Back from shipping off some stuff. In a short while I shall be on my way to Vinnie's to try and finish Susan Egan's CD, although I suspect that will ultimately take a total of two to three days beyond what Vinnie has done on his own - but maybe it will go faster than I think, since his mixes will probably be close given it's only piano and voice. But the editing of the patter is what always takes time, esepcially if I'm cutting and pasting between the two shows.
-
Good Afternoon!
Well... I'm all done for today. And I think I'm gonna head back uptown, and try to get a run around the Reservoir. -I want to watch the Key 2 Book again tonight at ACL, so, we'll see... In any case...
Laters...
-
Back from shipping off some stuff. In a short while I shall be on my way to Vinnie's to try and finish Susan Egan's CD
I'm looking forward to that---she is my favorite Kritzerland vocalist!

Wow, another FORBIDDEN ZONE fan? Wow! That should have been on my list.
And I thought of putting HEAD on the list as well.
Edi, I think you would like the films of Guy Maddin, if you haven't checked any out yet.
I have the films and the soundtracks of both. Remember the scene in which Davy Jones dances to Daddy's Song and his tux changes back and forth from black to white? That was just magical and thrilling to me when I was in Jr. high, and one of those moments, like the end of HAROLD AND MAUDE, that led me to be an editor, even though I didn't know what an edit was at the time!
I will check out Guy Maddin. Where do I begin?
-
MBarnum-I set TIVO to record the last two Rusty movies. The last two that begin with Rusty anyway.
-
I meant to comment last night on THE UNINVITED: I've seen this movie a couple of times since it's been in TCM rotation the past few years, but it wasn't until Robert Osbourn and his co-host brought it up last night that I ever realized that Skinner's character was a lesbian (but then again, I do have incredibly bad gaydar.) Now I also find it laughable that both Osbourn and his gay co-host found this to be a stretch of the imagination. Sheesh--of course, she's a lesbian!
In any case, I never understood why this character was in the film to begin with. She's really an unnecessary red herring in a fine ghost story that doesn't need such a distraction.
THE UNINVITED is one of my favorite films, & one of my favorite Ray Milland films. I wish I had watched it last night cuz to see what the fuss is about. ;D
-
Miss Karen-CONGRATULATIONS!
-
We did it! Thanks, Hainsies/Kimlets!
TNT's Season 3 Premiere of THE CLOSER is BEST OF ALL TIME
GREAT NEWS!
Please tell the network we did not watch HEARTLAND because of those stupid pop-ups. We appreciate not having commercials, but those pop-ups were BORING!
-
DR JANE you might get RUSTY UNDERPANTS! with Jane Russell and Kim Novak.
-
Or RUSTY ROCKETS with Richard Crane and Sally Mansfield and Scotty Beckett.
-
Thanks, HHW'ers.....Miss Amanda is in the lead again (barely)....Mr Wade Wingler is putting up a good fight.

Well alert the media and unleash the hounds.....because of general lack of bodies and interest on the part of the PCPH public....
I will be playing Mortimer in the 2007 production of THE FANTASTICKS.
A star is born.

Not anymore, even with one more vote from me.

Not anymore, even with one more vote from me.
Laskonyko! Well as long as we are not the lowest vote getter over the next few days, we'll be okay.
Wade must have lots of relatives. ;D
-
Just read that we even had higher ratings than any of the broadcast networks in the 9PM hour. That's huge!
-
Dear dear Esteemed and mensch-like BK -- A nice mailer envelope arrived yesterday, and I thank you most sincerely for taking the time to send me the special dubs that you did. You are a gentlemen....... and you shall be rewarded the next time I see you ! Musso & Frank? Ruth's Chris? A hickey?

That is HUGE indeed!!! 8)

Thanks DRs DtM and MUSIC GUY for the congratulations.....I shall try to live up to them.
It helps that I am 1/16 Cherokee....it hurts because every time I tap dance, it rains.
-
Hoo and Ray! My little laptop computer is back from the shop and it was covered by the warranty!
-
And to our beloved Leader, and all of the assorted cookies, studlies, lovelies, and vixens......
I leave tomorrow morning for Chicago to participate in a 2-day fundraising concert for an organization that provides financial help specifically for people in the arts who are self-employed, and facing critical and life-threatening illnesses. You can take a look at www.hopefulheart.com if you are interested. I will try to log on when I can.....I think I can still log on, even though I am using someone else's computer??
Then I will fly into NYC on next Monday the 25th, and my hotel says that it has complimentary wireless internet in the rooms. So I can post, and read, and laugh, and then laugh some more.
-
Thanks DRs DtM and MUSIC GUY for the congratulations.....I shall try to live up to them.

Even though I'm a big old goy wasp, I DO have rhythm...... I could have been a Pip or a Drifter....but not a Harlette ! 8)

DR MusicGuy, I plan on parking at your house early and going for a walk before we leave tomorrow. Is that ok?

We did it! Thanks, Hainsies/Kimlets!
TNT's Season 3 Premiere of THE CLOSER is BEST OF ALL TIME
With more than 8.8 million viewers and 6.3 million households, TNT's THE CLOSER once again broke its own record by scoring ad-supported cable's best delivery of all time for a series telecast.
SOURCE: Turner Research from Nielsen Media Research -- Cable Fast National Data.
I am simply thrilled with this news. Often, junky shows get high ratings and quality efforts get overlooked or are underappreciated. Glad to see this isn't happening with THE CLOSER.
Hooray!
-
Now to get those people to approve the minutes, and everything I hoped to accomplish today will be done!
-
DR MusicGuy, I plan on parking at your house early and going for a walk before we leave tomorrow. Is that ok?
Sure thing.........sometimes you may see some of the quail families out on the lawns with all of the little "peanuts" walking in a line. They are so cute !!

I am using a lot of exclamation marks today!

And now, back to more errands to complete the "getting ready" for leaving tomorrow morning.. Uuga-Buuga !

I am using a lot of exclamation marks today!

Oh Clairee... you are too warped for television! ::)
Ain't it the truth.
Have fun in the Windy City!!
DR LAURA.....wonderful. I love warranty!!! ;D
-
And they must have cleaned the keys, because a couple of keys that were sticking are no longer sticking!
-
I had a very enjoyable afternoon of entertainment.
I began with LUCY/MAME. The film has never looked as good on home video. Very sharp (except for you-know-who's close-ups), good color with the right level of saturation.
Yes, I knew we'd get the same mono sound, just like in theaters. Seems like I read somewhere that the stereo tracks were destroyed. Still, the sound is strong, and I enjoyed seeing the film again, especially looking so good.
And I still say Robert Preston's "Lovin' You" is about three or four minutes of musical comedy joy. Beautiful song, excellent vocal, well shot and edited to get the most out of the sequence. By far the best thing in the movie.
-
Now to get those people to approve the minutes, and everything I hoped to accomplish today will be done!
Still waiting??!! Shocking. :o
-
Some of the time in "It's Today" Lucy is singing but we hear no one.....it might be a blessing, but I was kind of hoping the sound would be better....oh well.
I do have the CD....
-
Most worthy organization, DR MUSIC GUY...
-
Next I watched NANCY DREW REPORTER. Not a great mystery, but it's a fun little spree. Ted's sister and friend are trying little brats but otherwise, the movie (just a bit over an hour) was fun.
Print used for the transfer is in bad shape though with lots of spotting and some damaged places near the end that were really bad. Sound very full of hiss and flutter. I'm sure they did what they could with what they had to work with, but it's still in pretty wretched shape.
-
TOD-my favorite surreal movies, or those having surrealistic scenes:
THE 5,000 FINGERS OF DR. T
Jan Svankmeyer's ALICE
THE FORBIDDEN ZONE
HEAD
DONNIE DARKO
THE ELEPHANT MAN
LA JETTE
BRAZIL
DELICATESSEN
MON ONCLE
DR Edidaurus stole my surreal list!
Ah well, we are all surrealist pilgrims, melting clocks in marble halls.
Which brings me to JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL AND LIVING IN PARIS - now that's another favorite surreal film.
-
It's official!! I"M DONE, FINISHED, COMPLETED, THROUGH WITH, WSHED MY HANDS OF, TOTALLY OVER MY FIRST MASTER SEMESTER! Met yesterday's deadline of turning in the end-of-semester evaluations, papers, forms, etc. , etc. YEAAAAAA!
CONGRATULATIONS, Miss Karen!!! ;D
-
Some of the time in "It's Today" Lucy is singing but we hear no one.....it might be a blessing, but I was kind of hoping the sound would be better....oh well.
I do have the CD....
I mentioned this when I got the laserdisc about a year ago, but it's even more noticeable on the new DVD: Lucy is so robotic in "It's Today" and "Mame." There's not an ounce of ease or spontaneity about her dancing or movement, especially in dance numbers. I know she was coming off of a badly broken leg and was probably tentative about moving much, but she's just so frozen and joyless with a fake plastic smile plastered on her face. Pretty painful to watch her. For most of the numbers, I was looking elsewhere.
-
We did it! Thanks, Hainsies/Kimlets!
TNT's Season 3 Premiere of THE CLOSER is BEST OF ALL TIME
CONGRATS TO EDISAURUS!!
-
Well alert the media and unleash the hounds.....because of general lack of bodies and interest on the part of the PCPH public....
I will be playing Mortimer in the 2007 production of THE FANTASTICKS.
A star is born.
Do you have a harp for the production?
-
I think MYRA BRECKINRIDGE is pretty surreal and a fun guilty pleasure.
-
Thanks DRs DtM and MUSIC GUY for the congratulations.....I shall try to live up to them.
It helps that I am 1/16 Cherokee....it hurts because every time I tap dance, it rains.
Mortimer's about as much real Native American as Queen Victoria! I'm certain, though, that you will be quite funny in the role.
-
I finished my afternoon putting DREAMGIRLS back in the Blu-ray player and watching a couple of numbers in the extended scenes section. "Step into the Bad Side" is totally different from the way it appears in the finished film (actually gave Jamie Foxx something to do) and I enjoyed seeing the longer versions of "I Am Changing" and "Heavy," too.
-
DR Edidaurus stole my surreal list!
Ah well, we are all surrealist pilgrims, melting clocks in marble halls.

One of mine, too! I'd forgotten it.
How? you may ask. Well, I don't know.

Wonderful, JRAND! Congratulations. There will be a DVD, yes?

You can take a look at www.hopefulheart.com if you are interested.
What a wonderful organization you started! I would love to order a CD (I must hear "TOY TRUMPET"!) as well as make a small donation. (wish it could be more...) Please let me know how I can do both!
-
Do you have a harp for the production?
Of course.
I am usually in charge of harping, but that will come later. 8)
-
I will try to log on when I can.....I think I can still log on, even though I am using someone else's computer??
You should have no problem. I did that very thing just a few weeks ago.
-
DR JRand - Congratulations on your role in The Fantasticks. Who's The Mute?
-
Wonderful, JRAND! Congratulations. There will be a DVD, yes?
No doubt.
LOL...DR ELMORE - I didn't know Queen Vickie was a Cherokee. :P
-
DR JRand - Congratulations on your role in The Fantasticks. Who's The Mute?
Joan Osborn.....very nice and funny lady. She came to auditions with signs:
"Do you have anyone for the role of The Mute?"
"Will you consider a female?"
"I would like to audition for the role." ;D

TOD:
5,000 FINGERS OF DR T
PEEPING TOM
Re: PEEPING TOM. It is so creepy that it's hard to say I "like" it. Respect it, yes. Admire it, yes. But "like"? It gives me the creeps just thinking about it. Please don't ask me to explain how that brings us to surreal, but somehow it does.
-
DR MUSIC GUY,
Thanks for the information about Hopeful Heart. It sounds like a wonderful organization and I shall tell others about it.
-
I have the films and the soundtracks of both.
I just DVR'd HEAD recently, and that Jones scene is really great. Especially because they couldn't use the tricks of today to do that, i.e. just change his colors with computer. I love that psych Nesmith Birthday party editing as well. The song "Do I Have to Do this All Over Again?"
Guy Maddin, start with CAREFUL or THE SADDEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD. Both are extremely expressionistic, borrowing heavily from early cinema, but yet both also have a wonderful sense of humor. I saw SADDEST MUSIC in the exact same theater I watched your film in, come to think of it!
-
It helps that I am 1/16 Cherokee....it hurts because every time I tap dance, it rains.
;D
Congrats. I have never seen the show, if only you didn't live so far away.
-
The film of CATCH-22 has some great surreal moments in it.
-
I need to see PEEPING TOM. I rented it one time because a director I was working with loved it. The tape was defective and then I forgot about it.
I forgot to include THE APPLE and PUTNEY SWOPE----maybe not surreal---maybe just plain weird!
-
MusicGuy, SAFE TRAVELS AND VIBES FOR A SUCCESSFUL CONCERT! Your organization is wonderful.
-
Opera lovers, click HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiZcuzgJKT4).
Then again, maybe not! ;)
This is hysterical!! ;D Thanks for posting it!
-
MANY more Broadway Bares photos HERE (http://www.vrzala.com/bb/1/). :P :)
And thanks for posting this! :D
;)
-
Why don't they "type" first thing every audition? Cut out the people you aren't going to hire anyway. Save everyone's time.
Why not??...because a performer might have a talent so great as to transcend the producer or director's original idea of what the character "should" look like. If they got rid of someone right off the bat all the time, they could easily remove the best performers without even knowing it. :)
-
There are two women who obviously coordinate their jaunts to the dog park. Between them they have an interesting collection of little dogs. They are nice & their dogs play well with Sherlock.
Today they showed us the creek behind the dog park. All the little dogs, and people, watched while Sherlock had a grand romp through the water. :D
-
Heading down now to read a bit and then back for more viewing. I cleaned the living room this morning, so I'm free tonight of any chores.
WBBL.
-
;D
Congrats. I have never seen the show, if only you didn't live so far away.
Oh I am sure we will have to tour this production just to satisfy our fans. 8)

Is that why we had a woman audition for El Gallo last night? :P
-
When they cast someone who is obviously not right for the role, I don't believe the story. Like the obese woman cast as Miss Adelaide.
-
Is that why we had a woman audition for El Gallo last night? :P
Geez....that's interesting. If she was the best El Gallo who auditioned, you could easily reinstate "The Rape Ballet"...I mean...who would beLIEVE it?
-
Oh I am sure we will have to tour this production just to satisfy our fans. 8)
What constitutes a "tour" schedule for your group?
-
Oy! What a day I've had today!
-
I again find myself awaiting Deep Discount packages that seem to take forever and day to arrive. One package was mailed last Wednesday.
And then there's UPS. I've seen two UPS trucks arrive and depart....neither leaving me a package that is supposedly "Out for Delivery" since 4:40 a.m. today.
-
Congrats to Jrand!
-
Is it so far from Elle Woods to Elle Gallo?
-
Congratulations on your part, JRand.
-
What constitutes a "tour" schedule for your group?
Greencastle, Terre Haute, Crawfordsville, and one night in Cloverdale. ;D
-
Is it so far from Elle Woods to Elle Gallo?
Uh...maybe not.
Thanks DR LAURA.
Of course I will give FULL reports as we begin the journey. ;D
-
Raining here today, finally.
We had some good auditioners last night....but we do not yet have a Luisa....hopefully there are some prospects coming in tonight.
Okay, dammit, I will bleach my hair blonde!
-
Is it so far from Elle Woods to Elle Gallo?
Elijah Wood - is he on the journey?
-
TOD
Just about any movie by Michelangelo Antonioni.
-
"The Passenger" is one of my favourite movies.
-
OH!
Attention All NYC-Bound Hainsies and Kimlets - and those who are already Bound to NYC...
I'm thinking of just a "simple" walk through the Park - featuring the Reservoir.
Jose, I am not sure everyone would be interested in a job jog at the Reservoir.
-
Walking to work the last couple days I have seen them loading out the PIRATE QUEEN sets. B'way moves fast.
Why? The YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN sets won't be done in Seattle until September.
-
Is Pale Male still in Central Park?
-
Ginny, does your library
carry stock display (whatever) GEOGRAPHY CLUB by Brent Hartinger?
-
Okay, dammit, I will bleach my hair blonde!
Bleach? Wouldn't "blonde" be darkening your hair?
-
Greencastle, Terre Haute, Crawfordsville, and one night in Cloverdale. ;D
Terre Haute! Golly....that really IS a "tour".
-
I finished my afternoon putting DREAMGIRLS back in the Blu-ray player and watching a couple of numbers in the extended scenes section. "Step into the Bad Side" is totally different from the way it appears in the finished film (actually gave Jamie Foxx something to do) and I enjoyed seeing the longer versions of "I Am Changing" and "Heavy," too.
The extended "Steppin' to the Bad Side" is presented precisely how I saw it when I saw the advanced press preview for DREAMGIRLS; when I saw the film again on Christmas Day, those cuts had been made.
-
We did it! Thanks, Hainsies/Kimlets!

I'm sorry, edi, but I didn't watch THE CLOSER last night. It is past my bedtime. Of course, I am in that over 55 demographic that nobody cares about anyway.
-
DR JRand - most importantly, who is your HENRY? When I played Henry, I had the best-est Mortimer in Mark Calla, whom I'm sure couldn't hold a candle to you. Congrats!
-
If only they'd cut another two hours out.
-
I forgot to include THE APPLE and PUTNEY SWOPE----maybe not surreal---maybe just plain weird!
Omigod! How could I forget THE APPLE?!?!?! Thanks for the reminder DR Edisaurus!
-
Of course, I am in that over 55 demographic that nobody cares about anyway.
But, but, but, TCB - you'll always be timeless to me. :-*
-
I have been thinking about the TOD, and I would consider these items:
Plays: WAITING FOR GODOT, which I respect but never want to sit through again
Albee's THE SAND BOX and THE AMERICAN DREAM
Kopit's OH, DAD, POOR DAD . . . and THE DAY THE WHORES CAME OUT TO PLAY TENNIS
Ionesco's THE CHAIRS, THE LESSON, and THE BALD SOPRANO
TV: POPULAR, the Season One closer was so far in left field I can't wait to see Season Two
Well, when it comes to plays, GODOT is up there, but I would rather endure that than NO EXIT.

Is Pale Male still in Central Park?
Doesn't Pale Male reside on Fifth Avenue?

Maybe so. I guess I thought it was at Fifth Avenue where it meets Central Park. Maybe there is no such place. Don't laugh at me.

Maybe so. I guess I thought it was at Fifth Avenue where it meets Central Park. Maybe there is no such place. Don't laugh at me.
Fifth Avenue runs alongside Central Park. Wasn't there a whole brouhaha last year about the tenants wanting the hawks evicted?
-
DR Elmore, your mail order Boy Friend was just posted. Hope it will do until the real thing comes along.
-
No photograph Dear Reader Laura but a Wedge Tailed Eagle flew over here yesterday. Amazing wing span.
-
Ginny, does your library carry stock display (whatever) GEOGRAPHY CLUB by Brent Hartinger?
Yes, DR TCB, 9 copies systemwide.
-
Wedge Tail Eagle
-
I thought so, DR Elmore. Yes, the tenants wanted them evicted, but I think it was a couple years ago.
Swell eagle, DR Tomovoz. I've never seen one of those.
-
Tomovoz, is it cold where you are? It is hot here. It is supposed to be really hot in a couple of days.
-
Cold mornings here DR Laura. Down to zero some mornings. No snow here this year. (Only once every decade or so where we are)
-
We rarely see the Eagles here - quite special. Australia's largest bird of prey. Not the largest bird but then the Emus are not likely to fly past.
-
I need to see PEEPING TOM. I rented it one time because a director I was working with loved it. The tape was defective and then I forgot about it.
I forgot to include THE APPLE and PUTNEY SWOPE----maybe not surreal---maybe just plain weird!
Oh, I forgot, BREWSTER MCCLOUD.
-
What a wonderful organization you started! I would love to order a CD (I must hear "TOY TRUMPET"!) as well as make a small donation. (wish it could be more...) Please let me know how I can do both!
Dear DR Edi.... if you will send me a private post with your land address, I'll get a few things and some info sent off to you when I get back from this trip. Unfortunately, that won't be until July 1st, but I can take care of it then.
Thanks mucho, and a bunch! :D
-
Hi folks! I’ve been busy with Mom’s room and to much else go into right now.
I am glad to hear that DR Elmore got his lease. Yay!!!!
I’m sorry to say that I haven’t heard from the guy from MOSI since I last posted. I haven’t had time to follow up.
Today was the first time I went to the sleep doctor. I spent all of 45 minutes in this office. Let’s have a guess as to how much of that was spent WITH the doctor. I think anyone who says under five minutes has it just about right.
He made me say “Ahhh”, looked down my throat and said my throat was small. If I am snoring as badly as my friend said I needed a sleep study and there really wasn’t anything he could tell me until that is done.
The up shot of that is that I have to report to his office on July 6th at 9:00 PM to be hooked up to all of the wires and have them watch me sleep. Friday is a good night for it because it will be a work day and by nine, I can hardly stay awake as you all already know.
Tomorrow is the heart stress test. I fear this one. I can’t really explain why but I do.
I finely had to go to the Vital Statistics to get Mom's death certificate. I paid for seven of them but have yet to receive one!
I can't close her bank account or any of her accounts without it so I thought I'd better go ahead and get at least 2 copies to send for her life insurance.
It's killing me to close things. It's like I'm losing her bit by bit. I called the SS office to let them know she passed because I thought the funeral home didn't do that either but was surprised to learn they did.
-
Greencastle, Terre Haute, Crawfordsville, and one night in Cloverdale. ;D
ONE NIGHT IN CLOVERDALE is the name of my next play.
-
Yes, DR TCB, 9 copies systemwide.
He lives here in Tacoma, not far from the theater where I usually work.
-
Last night, I watched my HD DVD of "Field of Dreams".
Well the field and most of the outfield is still in Dysersville...it isn't heaven, but it is Iowa
-
DR Danise! I was just about to email you to see how you're doing!

Congrats to DR Edisaurus and the Closer!
Congrats also to DR JRand!!
And Good travel vibes to DR MusicGuy!

Hi folks! I’ve been busy with Mom’s room and to much else go into right now.
I am glad to hear that DR Elmore got his lease. Yay!!!!
I’m sorry to say that I haven’t heard from the guy from MOSI since I last posted. I haven’t had time to follow up.
Danise, I am so happy to see you posting again. I woke up in a panic last night realzing that we hadn't heard from you in a while. I am glad you are okay.

Hi folks!
I am glad to hear that DR Elmore got his lease. Yay!!!!
Hello, DR Danise! We actually still don't know that we have the damned lease! However, next Wednesday, we are moving, either into a new office or into storage. This is ridiculous!
-
DR JRand - most importantly, who is your HENRY? When I played Henry, I had the best-est Mortimer in Mark Calla, whom I'm sure couldn't hold a candle to you. Congrats!
Henry is being played by my friend Larry Sutton who for many years was the TD in the theatre/opera dept. of DePauw University. Very nice man and a very good actor. I directed him last year in DEATH BY CHOCOLATE.
We have a fine cast....so hopefully the director won't get in our way too much. ::)
-
Maybe so. I guess I thought it was at Fifth Avenue where it meets Central Park. Maybe there is no such place. Don't laugh at me.
Yes.
-
Test vibes for DR DANISE.
-
Yes, Terre Haute AND Cloverdale....we hit ALL the metropolitan towns.
Cloverdale has more liquor stores than churches and Terre Haute has more gasoline stations than churches - so we enjoy Cloverdale a bit more.
-
Jrand56, I am hoping for some 8 X 10 glossies of you in your loin cloth and war paint.
-
Life is so surreal....but I will second:
The 5,000 Fingers of Dr T
and add:
Shadow of the Vampire
The Picture of Dorian Gray
The Red Shoes

That's about 25 pounds from now. ;D

Oh, my, I didn't mean to make you panic! :o Hi DR Ginny!
I have so much going on right now, so much paperwork/phone calls/running around town trying to get things taken care of/trying to get her room done AND trying to work at the same time. I'm also working overtime when ever I can to make time up since I don't have any time left on the books so I can go to these doctor appointments and take care of my Mom's business. I honestly wish I had some time to take off.
You have no idea. All I can say is Oy! :-\
-
DR Laura, last year on our HHW walk we went to the spot where you can look at Pale Male's nest. So unless something has happened, you should be able to see it.
-
There are tons of hawks around here, I love to see them circling
-
Good to see you, Danise. I also noticed that we hadn't heard from you and wondered how you were doing. I know these things are tough to do. I've been there.
-
Hello, DR Danise! We actually still don't know that we have the damned lease! However, next Wednesday, we are moving, either into a new office or into storage. This is ridiculous!
I'll hope for the new office. :)
-
...but then the Emus are not likely to fly past.
Now THAT would be a sight!

I think our largest birds are the California condors, which I have yet to go up to see this summer.
Ah, Laura, wouldn't those have to be Arizona condors?
-
I am still waiting on the people approving the minutes. My deadline with the District is tomorrow. I have sent a reminder, plus the document again.
-
Ah, Laura, wouldn't those have to be Arizona condors?
They are now!

I’ve noticed a pair of cardinals here in my yard. I want to put some seed out for them but I just haven’t been able to remember to pick up some at the store. I don’t know when I’d have time to put it out either. :(
I hope to see some cardinal babies. :D
-
At an internet cafe. I miss my computer.
-
DR Danise! I was just about to email you to see how you're doing!
I always welcome emails! :)
-
I just may not have time to answer them quickly. ;)
-
At an internet cafe. I miss my computer.
I understand. I finally got mine back today, and it is wonderful.

I once saw a couple of cardinals at the Vatican, but I never counted on any cardinal babies!
-
I've seen quite a few juvenile birds around lately, begging their parents for food. Not unlike humans.
-
Well, I've got to scoot. I'm tired and I want to be somewhat rested for that stress test.
Goodnight and vibes to all who need them that I missed. I'm sorry I'm not up with things. I hope everything will calm down soon. Like by Christmas. ;)

I wish I could donate some of my sick leave to you! (I have accrued over 1100 hours!! ;D) We can donate vacation time to other library employees, as long as the donator's accrual doesn't go below 60 hours. But, we can't donate ANY sick leave...and we can't buy out any sick leave when we retire. State employees can buy out 25% of their sick leave, but we can't. We're a special county taxing district.

Thank you for the kind offer anyway. If I belonged to sick plan A, I would have the same kind of "bank" to draw from but I'm in sick plan "B" and we don't have that.
We get Short Term Disability after 14 days which the plan "A" people don't get.

I'm never far, DR Michael S.--at least in thought. :)

1100 hours????? I have eight.
I've been told that there are a couple of people who have over 3000 hours of sick leave built up! We can only accrue a maximum of 240 vacation hours, but there is no limit to sick leave. I only have about 90 hours of vacation right now, and I've only had over 100 hours once...and that was just last year. ::)
-
Time for "Shrew" rehearsal! Until later!
-
Back from a long day at Vinnie's but we managed to finish Susan's CD, so that's great. I really thought it would take at least two days, but Vinnie's pre-mixes were very good and I only had to do a little futzing here and there (just piano and voice, so it's not hard), and he'd followed my road map perfectly, so I didn't have to fix any of the editing - I just did some additional smoothing out on the patter. So, I'll have a copy tomorrow, Susan can listen and give whatever notes she likes, and then early next week we'll convene at Vinnie's and, if there are any notes from her or me, we'll do them, plus we'll record a the prelude to a little hidden track.
-
I'm quite tired and really want to find something fun to watch after the surrealism of last night.
-
Actually parts of today have been totally surrealistic, some of which had to do with Kritzerland. I check the balance in the account once or twice a week and so am always aware what's in there. Well, when you hear the balance (I'm always a couple of months behind in balancing out statements because I don't do that, someone else does) you assume that's what you have in the account. Well, someone I wrote a check to in March didn't, as it turns out, deposit the check until one week ago. Well, that plays havoc because suddenly money I thought was there isn't there anymore - luckily it was all fine, but that sort of thing freaks me out, let me tell you that.
-
Will we never get to page eleven?
-
Vinnie and I and his ever-lovin' Stefanie ate lunch at Mel's, as he lives nearby.
-
I am beginning to wonder..............
-
............if we will ever get to............

-
DR td - what's the word on Scarlet Street?
-
I didn't realize that td lived on Scarlett Street.
-
Always nice to see our lost lambs return to the flock.
-
I hate it when people take months to deposit or cash checks. I've actually taken my business elsewhere when people let a large check sit for over two months after I asked them to cash it as soon as possible.
-
Will we never get to page eleven?
Here it comes!
-
Yes, I'm pretty annoyed with the people who held this check for over two months. I mean, WHY? How stupid are they? And it causes such problems - this was a close call that happened to work out okay, but might not have if it had been a few weeks down the line. I gotta tell you.
-
Well, back to the DVD.
-
I spent a good portion of the evening watching DRAGON SEED. I had never seen this film, and I must say I did get very involved with it despite all the Caucasians playing Chinese. I'd never read the Pearl Buck novel it was based on, so I don't know how faithful it was to the book. Since it's almost 2 1/2 hours long, I'm not sure it would have been a big hit in 1944, but I did enjoy it.
Beautiful, lush transfer, too, with some of the best black and white representations this side of CITIZEN KANE. Really looked spectacular, and because it was one of many films in this Hepburn set, I doubt much clean-up was done on it at all. The print they used was just in wonderful shape, I guess.
-
Unless it was just an oversight, I can't imagine not cashing a check as soon as I get it (or within a few days). I need the money! Don't most people?
-
I didn't realize that td lived on Scarlett Street.
They NAMED the street after me!
-
After finishing DRAGON SEED, I watched one of the special features on the disc, an MGM publicity reel trumpeting its slate of 1944 releases and celebrating its 20 year history going back to THE BIG PARADE and HE WHO GETS SLAPPED.
Then they presented an array of their top box-office stars. Then there was an array of what they called "Stars of Tomorrow," among them June Allyson and Donna Reed.
They ended the reel with a salute to ther stars that were then currently in the service, among them James Stewart, Clark Gable, Robert Montgomery, and Robert Taylor.
-
DR td - what's the word on Scarlet Street?
I'll be seeing Richard and Tom over the weekend (at the Monster Bash); this week I'll be seeing Jason Graae, Shirley Jones, Matt Bogart and his lovely wife, Jessica.
-
Wishing a change of pace after the heavy drama of DRAGON SEED, I turned to season two of GREY'S ANATOMY. Not that there wasn't heavy drama in the three episodes I rewatched, but as always they were tempered with lighter moments, one of the reasons I love the show so much.
-

And season two has DEBORAH MONK!
-
Why? The YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN sets won't be done in Seattle until September.
And anyone in Seattle who didn't go to see our film missed a GREAT double bill!
-
Actually, that sounds pretty surreal. Talk about your odd couple!
-
I'm sorry, edi, but I didn't watch THE CLOSER last night. It is past my bedtime. Of course, I am in that over 55 demographic that nobody cares about anyway.
I know. I always resent it when I hear that I am outside of their demographic. I mean...I'm not retired; if I had kids they would be out of the house, so I would have plenty of disposable income. I have never understood that!
Don't worry, there will be a marathon probably at the end of the season. And there's always Tivo/VCRs.
-
Omigod! How could I forget THE APPLE?!?!?! Thanks for the reminder DR Edisaurus!
td---did you know they released it on DVD? I recommended it to the art director at TNT and he loved it so much he bought one for me, too!
-
Doesn't Pale Male reside on Fifth Avenue?
http://www.palemale.com/
Those are great pix of Pale Male!
-
And season two has DEBORAH MONK!
And Stephen Spinella who was in one of the episodes I watched tonight.
-
OK, I was up way too late last night, so I'm heading down now attempting to get a little earlier start on going to sleep.
Good night!
-
DR TD, please stop and say hello to my dear Laurie Mitchell when you go to Monster Bash this weekend, she is a livin' doll and you will just love her! Tell her Michael Barnum sent you...
I so wish I could go :'( but I couldn't afford to do Pittsburgh and NY so I chose NY...actually, can't even afford NY, but that is life!
-
DR Danise, thanks for the good wishes. Sleep vibes to you and big hugs. Hang in there!
-
The last time I was in NY I saw a long-eared owl. First and only time I've ever seen one!
-
Oh, I forgot, BREWSTER MCCLOUD.
Speaking of large birds, LOL...
I <heart> Bud Cort!
-
td---did you know they released it on DVD? I recommended it to the art director at TNT and he loved it so much he bought one for me, too!
THE APPLE is probably one of my most watched dvds; it's right up there with SHOCK TREATMENT (the surreal sequel to ROCKY HORROR).
-
Good Evening!
Whew!
'Tis been a long day.
-
I've seen quite a few juvenile birds around lately, begging their parents for food. Not unlike humans.
I love to watch them feed the juvies---they're so cute and awkward-looking like teenagers. They haven't grown into their beak yet and gotten their full color!
-
What I wrote about THE APPLE:
So bad, it's good. Why this rock & roll satire hasn't developed a stronger cult is beyond me. Bite the apple, magic apple, let the apple set your soul on fire. . .
Title song's production number is enough to achieve cult status as the heroine is tempted to take a bite, while the hero looks on forlornly. Vladek Sheybal is delightful as a devilish record producer cum manager. When a sweet and innocent duo nearly win the hearts of fans, this devil signs them up to hinder their careers. Alfie (Alpha - get it?) and Bebe (Beta - get it?) and the APPLE. . .and then there's Sheybel's "I know how to be a master" song. . .yep, take it any way you can.
Film is filled with double entendres, silly catchy tunes and fabulous fashions. Great fun, if you're in the right frame of mind.
Mind-boggling, to say the least.
-
Auditions - Well, they're almost done casting this show. -You'd think that after two months and six sessions of auditions, they'd have this show cast. At least it's been work for me! ;)
-
And I don't how I never this before today: The character of "Larry" in A Chorus Line is based on Larry Fuller. Very cool.
-
How about a PAGE TWELVE DANCE?

-
DR DearReaderLaura - Typing usually only occurs when there are specific slots to be filled, as it were. This will happen a lot when they're filling open slot in an ongoing production. -It's all about the costume. *Disney calls will usually type out - at least for the Theme Parks and Cruise Line.
Casting directors would prefer not to type, but sometimes, like today, if the turnout is a lot larger than expected, they will type just to help get everything done during the day. And, yes, they also know they might type out someone wonderful. Just a necessary evil from time to time.
-
As for my jog around the Reservoir this afternoon... Ugh! It was not the easiest run of the past week, and by the time I hit the two mile mark, I went ahead and walked for a bit before sprinting the last 1/4-mile. But at least I still did my two laps.
I'm also not usually an late afternoon/evening runner. I have a feeling that since I had already been up for a while, and working today that that may have contributed to my slower pace today. Or maybe the heat and humidity had something to do with it too? (Although, it's always cooler around the Reservoir.) Or maybe I still needed a bit more "recovery time" after my workout yesterday? Or... Like I said, I got my two laps in.
:)
-
As for my jog around the Reservoir this afternoon... Or maybe I still needed a bit more "recovery time" after my workout yesterday? Or... Like I said, I got my two laps in.
Or maybe you were slower because you did a lot of rubbernecking/gawking?
-
And I went ahead and watched the Key 2 Book at ACL again tonight. I was able to get some practice in before the show began, and I'm feeling much, much better about "dealing" with the guitar patch. I realized that the guitar patch in the Opening is different from the rest of the show. That helped to ease some of my uneasiness with the book. Now onto some of the almost-impossible quick patch changes. And at least I have a couple more days to get some practice, my first shows on Key 3 are not until July 7 & 8.
-
Or maybe you were slower because you did a lot of rubbernecking/gawking?
Umm... Well... Ahh... Hmm... :-X
-
DR Danise - Good to see and hear from you! One day at a time. One day at a time... -And then you'll be visiting NYC again! :)
-
DR td - So, I guess you're going to see Oklahoma this weekend?
-
And speaking of Oklahoma - Did anyone else see the cast list for the upcoming production at the MUNY in St. Louis this summer? It's a good cast, but I was surprised to see certain people in certain roles. It just seems like an "older" cast - especially in regards to Will Parker and Ado Annie. -Just wondrin', that's all.
-
DR td - So, I guess you're going to see Oklahoma this weekend?
It wasn't my first choice of CLO shows this summer (WHITE CHRISTMAS was/is), but with the cast assembled for OKLAHOMA!, I'm almost duty-bound to attend.
I met Shirley Jones many, many, many years ago at a now defunct nightclub in the environs of Pittsburgh, The Holiday House, where she was performing; that had to be sometime in the 1970s. . . .
-
DR td - Well, give Matt Bogart a big ole sloppy kiss on the mouth for me! With tongue! ;D -I guess Jessica (Bogart) is out there with him - I don't think she's in the show. Jessica Grové is playing Laurey. -And I believe they just recently celebrated their First Wedding Anniversary too! -Or are about to. :)
-
And I actually think I'm gonna head to bed now. It's been a long day, and I'm playing ACL rehearsal tomorrow starting at Noon. So...
Goodnight.
-
Finished the DVD and am too pooped to watch anything else, so I'm listening to CDs.
-
I'm the only one in the jernt?
-
Well, me and the eleven GUESTS. Enough with the WUSSBURGERING already.
I will single-handedly take us to page thirteen.
-
or not

-
I doubt many people in the world have listened to two versions of "The Happy Wanderer" today - Frank Weir and the Obenkirchin Children's Choir.
1954 was a great year.
-
Hi Tom..... I'm about to close up my suitcase for tomorrow, and just wanted to say goodnight.
And Bruce....thanks very much for sharing the Thompson Symphony with me. I will listen all the way through several more times when I get back from my trip, but I sure enjoyed my first listening today. You are a mensch and a sweetheart, and I thank you very much.
-
I've spent much of the day listening to the voices of:
Kay Starr
Terese Brewer
Joni James
Georgia Gibbs
Jo Stafford
June Valli
Jaye P Morgan
Rosemary Clooney
Patti Page
Felicia Sanders
Denise Lor
Kitty Kallen
Any wonder I think that most of the female singers around today have no idea!
-
Goodnight DR MusicGuy
-
And don't forget the Hanson, MusicGuy.
-
Are we still on page twelve?
-
You know, if our ten GUESTS came out of the woodwork, we'd have quite a lively and sparkling time here at haineshisway.com in the wee small hours of the morning.
-
I'm juggling away here - tomorrow I may now have to rehearse with Joan (we'd only planned Thursday and Friday) but I haven't heard anything concrete. I have to start rewriting her patter (I do NOT get paid enough for these one-person shows!) and I'm not sure when I'm supposed to have time to do that.
-
Fifteen GUESTS and little ol' me.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
At long last page thirteen.
-
Will we never get to page fourteen?
-
Hola!
-
bk ~ just sent you an email with the info about Cabaret. Hope that you can attend. DH and I are going to opening night next Friday and again the next night.
-
I certainly think all HHWers within the vacinity ought to come to the Cabaret..
-
Put down the knitting, ColeSlaw
The books, all you librarians
-
Right this way
Your table's waiting
-
Come taste the wine...
-
I'll see Cason on Friday morning and figure it out. I'll probably come on opening if there's room, if not maybe the next night - and then we can all go out and have FUN!
-
Come hear the band
-
Come blow ... your horn!
-
Life is a Cabaret
-
Old Chum
-
And I love a Cabaret!
-
Especially when it stars Boo-Key!

Well we've arrived!

You did it, Mr. T -- Page 14! I pity the fools that missed this frenzy!

I'm used to waiting up to a month for deliveries from Amazon and Deep Discount etc. My mailbox surprises me as parcels rarely arrive in the order odered.

Try Amazon.com!!!!
Three orders were "cancelled" today by one Amazon marketplace vendor because, the vendor said, a serious error had been made on the pricing of the items.
When I got my cancellation/refund notice from Amazon, it said the reason was that my "ship to" address was unacceptable for mailing packages to. RUBBISH...it's the ONLY address I've used for nearly 10 years of Amazoning.
I know the truth...and I'm guessing the vendor's choice was one of several that did not include "we screwed up and listed the price wrong".
I have to admit I was getting "incredible" deals on some items....but you'd think the vendor would have honored at least one of the three....or offered them to me at a "reasonable" price rather than just cancelling them outright.
Won't do business again with "eforcity", I can tell you that.
-
I think the witching hour has arrived!
-
We can make it to Post 400 -- bk will be pleased!
Why on earth do you feel you must please BK with "numbers"?

I think the witching hour has arrived!
