[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]ASK BK QUESTION[/move]
When was the decision made to alter the tracks on Debbie Shapiro Gravitte's album of Mencken songs?
Who made the decision?
Did Laurie Beechman's Andrew Lloyd Webber album have anything to do with the changes on Debbie's cd?
Davis Gaines performs back-up, even duet, voice on a couple of BK-produced cds; why?    Seriously, what was Mr. Gaines like during those recording sessions?  Probably these are my personal faves of his recordings, btw.
Did Davis ask you for any input when he recorded his album, AGAINST THE TIDE?

If I remember correctly we didn't "alter" the tracks on Debbie's album, we added one track.  Because we'd done so well with Laurie's album, we decided to change the title to The Alan Menken Album.  Unfortunately, as much as I like Mr. Menken and his music, he does not have the same name brand as Mr. Lloyd Webber.

I don't think Davis ever performed backup, but he's on a few of my CDs, doing some duets and some solos.  I enjoyed working with him, but his voice is very specific and I only used him for certain sorts of songs.

Re Fed Ex: It wasn't going to my house, nor do I ever have packages go to my house - I have one of those mail places.  But this particular box was going to Jose's place.  It's turned out to be a bit of a comedy of errors that I won't go into - hopefully the package will be here tomorrow, but we're covering ourselves by buying most of what's in the package today so we have it for tonight.

Thank you for your quick responses re: the Bottoms boys.  I suppose I could have checked out IMDB myself, but....well, I didn't.

I thought Joe Bottoms was the livin' end in Disney's sci-fi (non) epic THE BLACK HOLE. For me, he was always the sexiest of the brothers.

This is the first afternoon in many, many months that I didn't watch a DVD. I have that Jack Benny Program DVD cued up, but was busying dubbing some things this afternoon. Hopefully, I'll get to it tonight. Other than RENO 911! there is certainly nothing interesting on television.

I liked those boys named Bottom, and I think their father was an actor, too.

Good news from DRtd!  ;D

DRJANE did you find ESTATE SALE on a Cheryl Wheeler cd?  :-\

DRPANNI - loved your Cole Porter house story....wow!  I just wonder what the people on N Orange Avenue would think if they knew the first owner of their home was Allison Hayes - the 50 foot woman?  The people who bought her house in San Clemente had lived across the street when she lived there with her mother.  The owner's wife is in a nursing home down the street, but said that all that she remembered was she was "an actress of some sort, and was very concerned with her diet....."

Jose had a huge box of music which was supposed to arrive yesterday, which we were hoping to have for last night's rehearsal.  It didn't get there before he left, but when he got home he found some box filled with stationary instead.  OUR box was sitting in Louisville and won't get here until tomorrow.

AND THEY HAVE FOUND IT!

We have just finished taking apart and junking the big ol' smegging desk that I have been keeping in my room for so long for lack of anything better to do with it. This desk was HUGE and now it is reduced to a pile of junk in the alley.

But now I can get my brand old furniture from Grandma's house. I'm almost certain that it won't all fit, but that's half the fun. (The other half is putting the plastic covering on Grandma's green sofa. Don't you just love that?)

Later, we are going to the French bakery at the mall to celebrate Bastille Day.

I was NOT happy with the team that got eliminated last night.

I was quite pleased.

DRPANNI if it was the house on North Rockingham, you were touching a LOT more than Cole Porter....because none other than Greta Garbo also lived in that house....not at the same time, of course.  ;D

Here is the lovely Allison's house on La Ventana in San Clemente....and the garage where she parked her 1971 Chevrolet Camaro!   ;D

Tim in JOHNNY GOT HIS GUN:

Sorry, td, but that does "not" look like Timothy Bottoms to me, and the photo doesn't appear to be from any movie in particular, but a "fan shot."

Is it Sam?  Joseph?

They're hardly "boys" any longer, sad to say.

Yesterday I was chatting with one of the editors I work with. She was telling me that she was annoyed at her ex-husband. Their daughter was visiting him and had forgotten her key. The husband (a tarot reader) wouldn't answer the doorbell because he was busy with a client. Said my colleague: "For goodness' sake - the relationship isn't sacroscant." I was going to tell her gently the word is "sacrosanct," not "scant." But I hesitated (I know she's a bit sensitive to criticism), then realized I had waited a little too long. Question: Should I have corrected her, and how?

JRand53:  The picture you posted most recently IS Timothy Bottoms...but the facial features are not right in the picture td posted.

Timothy Bottoms has looked the way he does in your recent photo since he debuted in film in "The Last Picture Show."

Here's art associated with "Johnny Got His Gun":

To me, the guy in td's photo doesn't look like any Bottoms I know.

But it doesn't mean he's not related.

The cheeks and chin aren't the same as Timothy's, IMO.

I just read that famed cinematographer Carlo Di Palma has died. He did almost a half a dozen Woody Allen features including the deeply saturated color cinematography on BULLETS OVER BROADWAY and the expressionistic camera work on SHADOWS & FOG. He also was his cameraman for HANNAH & HER SISTERS.

Finished writing our opening number.  We'll see if it works later on when we learn it.  Waiting to hear if we have our choreographer problem solved.

Speaking of sagging bottoms... Oh, never mind.

It's already three o'clock in my neck of the woods and also in my knee of the woods.  Waiting for calls.  Fighting a headache.  Kicking people's sagging bottoms.  About to fire our publicist.

Howdy, gang!

Bruce, how excellent to have dived off into another first rehearsal! How well I remember the first revue, so many years ago... and how proud I am to have been part of it! Look at us: Here we are at midlife, and we're still doing what we have been doing all our lives, and each first rehearsal of each new project is still the thrill it was when we were back in high school. Yowza, whatta life! I'm so happy for you.

OK - all youse Noo Yawkuz: if you hear of a sublet from mid-September through March, gimme a holler, okay? I certainly prefer upper West Side - 70's, 80's 90's,- but I'd take anything reasonable. Prefer it have a piano, of course.

BK- which songs are you going to sing? So curious!!!
