I was a Stephen King fanatic up through Misery and then it was diminishing returns and I finally stopped. But, up until the bad business of 2001/2002 I had an incredible King collection - all the books in pristine firsts, most of the limited editions, lots of one-off stuff - had to unload it (and a lot of other stuff) to pay the legal bills - yes, the pointless legal bills.
My favorite King novel is The Shining, which I think is brilliantly done. But I enjoyed all of the books of that era. My favorite film adaptation of his work, the one that comes closest to capturing the novel and yet works as a film is The Dead Zone, one of my favorite films and one of my two favorite Cronenberg movies. Carrie is also good.
