Well, you've read the notes, the title of the notes is an inversion of the title of a long ago notes, and now it is time for you to post until the inverted cows come home.  They're currently doing the samba and the MOOmbo.

Our GUESTS are reading long ago threads, which I've gone back to and perused, including several days in 2004, right after this board was created.  And I got my first Powerbook and Mac in January 2005.  I looked at the first day's posts on the new board here - very interesting.  And I saw that the merry searchers were here almost every day, right around the time that a certain label folded its NY office and fired everyone.   And sadly I see many posters that I used to really enjoy who simply drifted away, like Emily, Laura II, Maya (always liked her), William E. Lurie, William F. Orr, and a few who left for reasons that are personally annoying to me - Jay and Dan-In-Toronto being two of them - a shame really.  And baffling disappearances like Rodzinski.  Still, we have so many of our regulars still with us and that's just too too amazing.

I am watching a DVD that DR MBARNUM sent me called OSS 117 - CAIRO NEST OF SPIES.

Now it was in a stack of discs that included a CD sent me by DR ELMORE - but I don't think he sent me the DVD....

ANYWAY - it is a very funny French spy spoof that I would highly recommend to all DR's who might care for such a thing.  The leading man is Jean Dujardin and he is handsome and funny....the leading lady is Bereniece Bejo, and she is Bee-yoo-tee-full!

I guess there is a sequel that is in post production.

Well, yesterday was a day.

I went to my office early and did some work.  Then I left and took the train to NYC to meet my DH for a pre-arranged tour of the Armory building at Park and 66th.  It is magnificent - a very important historical collection of rooms.  Lots of restoration work to be done.  And the Drill Hall is one of the largest enclosed spaces in NYC!!  But I almost didn't get in to Manhattan because an earlier track fire shut down all Metro North trains into and out of Manhattan for a time.

After that, I took the train directly to my Amahl final dress rehearsal in Connecticut.  And all I had for dinner was half of a personal Apple/Walnut/Sour Cream pie from The Little Pie Company.

After the rehearsal, I got a ride to the Stamford [CT] train station, whereupon I discovered that due to police activity [someone had been run over by a train], there had been no trains into or out of Manhattan for the past 2.5 hours, and none were yet scheduled. [Thanks for the wishes, DR Jane!]

After a very long delay, I finally made it home - WAY past my normal bed time.  And that was my day!

Today's two performances of Amahl have been moved up by several hours to try to avoid the snow storm that is predicted to start this afternoon.

TOD:

Carol Burnett to be sure.....but I always thought of her show as a comedy show and sometimes the guests singing was a waste of time.

My favorites:

Ed Sullivan
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Giselle MacKenzie - although her show didn't last very long
Kraft Music Hall
The Hollywood Palace

I was never a big fan of the variety shows, but I recently "discovered" UTube and am really enjoying clips from these shows, particularly ones with Don Rickles, Jack Benny, etc.

Finished most of our meetings with the builder and vendors yesterday.  Our building supervisor is a great guy.

Yesterday, we went to see GRAN TORINO.  Really enjoyed it.

Today is the book signing.

Fingers crossed.

Good morning, all! Since my adopted son Josh cancelled on me this morning, I slept in and didn't get out of bed untill 9 am.  Last night, before watchng PSYCH, I rearranged some of the furniture and I'm much happier with the look of the apartment. The man objective was to cut down any comfortable guest space so that, next time I'm visited by DR MBarnum, if the weather's too lousy on the fire escape and I decide to let him sleep elsewhere, he has to sleep standing up next to my filng cabinets.

I forgot about MONK at 9 and I missed most of it. That was a bummer because Steve Zahn was the guest star and I think he's a hoot.  As for PSYCH, I love the series, but I thought the episode was a lesser effort.

Today, my walk and a lot of Frank Loesser. Hopefully, my friend Chris will show up later and show me how to deal with this Lacie hard drive, which is nothing like my old one!

   The Gary Moore Show
   The Bell Telephone Hour
   The Ed Sullivan Show
   The Carol Burnett Show

I have made it back from Siam.  I made it to the Small House of Uncle Thomas last night before falling asleep (not because of the content, because I was tired!) and this morning picked it up at the Small House and watched to the end.  I must say it is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen - and the story... oh the story.... yes, I shed a tear at the end.

I'm up way too early - bounced awake at 4, and tried to go back to sleep - abandoned that effort at 5:30 and just hauled my aging caboose outa bed and started sucking caffeine. Got an early (12 noon) art therapy session today, instead of tomorrow - this one with families of the addicts, so it'll be a big group. I'm doing collage - got lotsa glue, but I've been madly cutting words and pix out of the limited yoga and travel mags I have around here. I'll pick up card stock, fallen leaves, some free advertising-type mags on the way - they can cut out pix as part of the session. If I leave here by 9:30 or so, I can hit the 99-cent store and Michael's art/craft supplies before I head up the coast to Malibu.

Tonight is a fundraising effort for the theater org I work for - the other group that uses our theater space is doing a split-the-gate night for us... It's Daddy's Dyin' Who's Got the Will, which will be somewhat amusing. Don't you love farce? I'll go be visible and show my team spirit - even if I'll certainly need a nap before an 8 pm show... sheesh... early to bed and early to rise doesn't make much of a theater-goer!
