Don't you just hate it when you are watching something on the DVR and you forget you can fast forward through the commercials?

You can?

Yeah, don't tell Jrand57, but I think that was what killed Lucy!

Her window was coated with concrete.

Having a bit of a problem with the buy who I sublet from for the first few days of my stay.  He made me give him a $200 deposit which was supposed to be returned the day he got back in town, which was yesterday.  Apparently he sent an e-mail a week ago asking me to call him to set up a time to get the keys back.  All fine and dandy except I didn't get the e-mail.  Now, the guy has my number, and he has Miss Patti's number (since she found the sublet for me and dealt with him) - did he call?  No.  Miss Patti left him several messages yesterday and today, none of which were returned, so I wrote him a note asking where the money was (he was supposed to paypal it).  I told him that I expected it by the end of this evening, otherwise I'd stop by there tomorrow after rehearsal and he could give me cash and I'd give him keys.

He wrote me back saying he was out of town (yes, he got back yesterday and left today or so he says) and we can't wrap it up until the 11th when he returns.  Now, never mind that I stayed in his place for three days even though I paid for a week.  Never mind that he didn't return my deposit right after I moved because he had to make sure his little sty of an apartment was in the same condition that he left it (it was, plus I left him some toilet paper, which is more than you can say for him).  So, I came on really strong, saying that if I had to wait until the 11th that paypal was no longer an option, he had to have cash and we'd meet and exchange, but that I didn't appreciate the games.

I guess I made him very nervous - the next e-mail was one of those "why are you getting so upset" things and that given the tenor of my e-mail he didn't really want to meet me or anyone associated with me - he'd paypal the money and I could mail the keys back.  I told him that was fine.

The paypal payment arrived five minutes later and I told him I'd send his keys tomorrow.  Then I looked at the payment - an eCheck - five business days to clear, expected clearing date the 12th.  Well, I wrote him right back and said "What if I'd sent you my payment for the sublet and deposit as an eCheck and it was five business days to clear - would you have let me have the keys and let me stay there prior to it clearing?"  I think we know the answer - so, I told him I'd be mailing his keys after it cleared, which is even later than him getting back on the 11th.  I gotta tell you.

I really liked the CLOSER pilot.  I figured it out really quickly, but it was fun to watch it develop.

Tonight I was invited to be part of a focus group.

We watched 4 TV spots, saw 5 print ads and heard one radio commercial and then discussed it all

There were 6 of us all ladies together and the moderator.. we had a really fun time and were paid $75  and given a free product as well

Bruce, I can't remember.  Did you watch BURN NOTICE?

If he's seen it, he's never mentioned it; I would definitely have noticed. He might find some interest in the ambiance of MAD MEN, too, but again, hard to get into a serialized show like this without seeing it from the beginning.

Got to the end of Season 3 of GREY'S ANATOMY. I didn't like the cliffhagners at all this season. In rpevious seasons they were superb, but this year, it just seemed like so much gloom and doom for everyone. Very unsatisfying.

DR ArnoldBrockman has a face!  And a nice face it is.  I watched TIM GUNN'S GUIDE on Bravo tonight;  I laughed  lot.  It's nice to see a model with a brain and I really like themodel who advises with him.  There were some very funny moments. I'll try to catch the BURN NOTICE repeat on Saturday afternoon.

Next, I watched all the special features on the disc. My favorites were the outtakes and the unaired scenes. There was one confrontation between Derek and Mark that should have been in the show. Gave SO much added character to Sloan who often comes off as such a womanizing prick.

No fears, DR Elmore. There was no BURN NOTICE tonight. US Open Tennis.

I finished my evening watching a new episode of MAD MEN. A wonderful storyline for Bryan Batt who did a grand job with his scenes. I wouldn't have minded a lot more with that confrontation and less with Draper and his beatnick girl friend.

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but when I went back downstairs in the late afternoon, instead of immediately going into the den, I took out an old Smothers Brothers LP - MOM ALWAYS LIKED YOU BEST, and just had the best time reliving their endearingly innocent antics. I also love that on their comedy albums, there would occasionally be whole, beautiful songs with the brothers singing in such glorious harmony together. Their blend was really magical.

The first rehearsal was very much like a dream.  The day was just about teaching seven of our players their songs, but they're such pros, as they'd sing through they already brought such wit, warmth and personality to the songs.  My director, musical director and I also found time to finish our meeting going over the score: in all, we spent ten hours poring over every measure, talking about every intricacy of the music – the feels, the tempos, the lead-ins, the cues, even the voicing of chords.  This weekend, I'll have to go over the tapes of these meetings, making a myriad little changes.
