And the word of the day is: SPALLATION!
EVIL KURT has not let me know about where dinner may be on Friday night....we shall see.

Is EVIL KURT any relation to DRUNK DUANE?

Wednesday morning greetings! Tonight Richard, Rob, and I are going to Miami University's Hamilton Campus for

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm washing my tux shirt.

No one notices if it's clean - but it it's not, they do.
DR JMK did you bank all the money you stole from the senior citizens to buy your new house?
The actual seniors who were in my group stormed the Executive Director's office yesterday to complain. She's denying she ever made the allegation. Unfortunately for her, I saved the emails. :)
Oh... The "Lost" graphic in question:(http://ll.static.abc.com/c/shows/lost/slideshow/lost_s06_624x351_01.jpg)

There were three different pics of the cast taken in that same setting (one was just a regular cast photo with everyone looking directly at the camera.) The pics have been overanalyzed to death!
DR Ron Pulliam - Do you at least get to pick a lollipop out of the jar when you leave your dentist's office? Or a toy out of the "treasure chest"?
I'm up, I'm up - third day in a row to sleep this late, but tomorrow I'll be up at five in the morning, although that will take some serious inner clock resetting. I don't really have a good alarm, so I'll just the iPhone, I guess.
The audience will be pleased.
Will the show be reviewed in the local press?
My problem with LOTR: FELLOWSHIP OF THE RINGS was that I'd never read the books.
So, watching the theatrical release, I was a bit confused for the first half hour or so, because I didn't really understand who the hell these characters were and what kind of world they were in. [I'm not big on fantasy worlds anyway.]
I later saw the extended version which, for me, made everything much more clear.
I don't usually like extended versions because they, almost always, reinstate footage that was best left on the cutting room floor (e.g. RIDE WITH THE DEVIL, the 2nd two LOTR movies). This first film in the trilogy is an exception.
I unfortunately will not be able to journey to Olympia as I have gigs all that weekend. If a certain piece of paper were to come back to me fairly soon, I might be able to talk about another opportunity for a NW HHW get-together. Hint, hint, nudge, nudge, say n'more. ;)

Do you think you will return for the senior citizens?
Today is National Bookmobile Day (http://ow.ly/1yoNp)I listened to a library book while driving in my car today. Does that count?
JohnG, I love all good tunes and there are a huge number of them I'd love to still record.Very diplomatically put. Thank you.

I just returned from what I thought was going to be a wildgoosepumpkin chase. Because my book group is meeting here tomorrow evening and because the main character in our book often eats pumpkin, I'd decided to make pumpkin pie for our refreshments. There was no canned pumpkin to be found at Kroger on Monday and they told me they can't even order it. So, today I went out with 3 other stores on my itinerary. I did find it at the first store and, after checking the "use by" dates, bought enough to make 2 pies tomorrow and some later in the year. Has anyone else heard about a shortage of canned pumpkin?

Interesting, I never thought one would be confused it they hadn't read the books. I think you missed something special having not read them.
I just returned from what I thought was going to be a wildI notice that it's available only during fall/winter over the holidays. But since I started cooking my own, I never but the cans anymore. I roast enough for the year -- drenched in butter, of course -- and then just pop it in the freezer in 2 cup baggies (I'm AR about that, but most of my recipes call for 2 cups). It keeps all year. Not that that helps now when there's none left to buy, but ...goosepumpkin chase. I'm not much of a fantasty world fan, either (except for musicals). And I didn't like the books when I was a teenager, but I found the movies enjoyable enough. I will have to admit that I saw all of them on DVD and in a party setting where plenty of drinks were being poured. that makes quite a lot bearable. My problem with LOTR: FELLOWSHIP OF THE RINGS was that I'd never read the books.

Maybe, but as I said, I've never been a big fan of fantasy worlds. If it wasn't a musical, I probably wouldn't even like THE WIZARD OF OZ.
Of course, if you've read my book, then you'd know that, according to Harry Pennypacker, Oz was not a fantasy world after all.
::)
I'll put up big signs that say "PLEASE DON'T LET THE CATS OUT!
I saw two of the three "gasp" moments on last night's LOST coming.

I think that it's great that MAMMY and other movies are being preserved and made available for people who want to see them.
However, let's not kid ourselves. Except for Jolson's singing, this is a boring movie. The script just limps along, and even Michael Curtiz' direction can't save it.
There are classic films and there are curios. MAMMY is definitely a curio.

I don't think anyone has EVER claimed that MAMMY was a great film. It was also Jolson's first flop at the box-office, so even back then folks knew that it wasn't memorable stuff.

The truth is that, with the exception of the musical numbers, ALL of Jolson's movies are curios...including THE JAZZ SINGER.
Shhh! Don't let anybody in the Al Jolson Society hear that.
Well I may have to buy this LUCY MOVIE disk.....

EVIL KURT has not answered my email.
MR BK how would you and DR CP feel about dining in the restaurant at your hotel.
The theatre is in the middle of NOWHERE to be sure....however EVIL KURT may yet come through.
Was reading DR CP's original screenplay for THE FLY on the special edition DVD. I think I like his characters more than the ones in the movie.
One of my favorite things about the story and the original was that the couple were man and wife....Patricia Owens was very good in the original - and I loved her in SAYONARA as well.
In DR CP's script, they are a married couple.....in the final movie they are not - and there is a third wheel played by an actor who is NOT....well....very good.....
Well I may have to buy this LUCY MOVIE disk.....
The list price is only $19.99, and I'm sure you'll be able to find it considerably cheaper. I'd think it would be a must for a Lucy fan, but not being a huge collector, I don't know how much of this stuff was already available elsewhere.
BK, perhaps we could go for dinner before the play on the 7th?
I have not yet decided if I will drive up to Olympia and then drive back home to Salem that night, or if I will get a room and drive back the following morning. If I stay then we can also do breakfast, perhaps.
The other day I was listening to Sirius On Broadway and they were playing "The World Goes Round" from LIZA AT THE PALACE.
I swear that I thought it was Wayne Newton singing!

MBarnum, if you drive back to Salem on Friday night, you won't be able to go out with us after the show!
Well I may have to buy this LUCY MOVIE disk.....
Or get the remake starring Debra Messing.
I've been listening to the cast recording of AMERICAN IDIOT and I enjoyed it a lot! (it's currently available for a free listen at MTV.com (http://www.mtv.com/music/the_leak/green_day/american_idiot_the_official_cast_recording/#full-desc)--warning--it's not for everyone's taste...)
I'm a little bit disappointed that they stuck so slavishly to the original arrangements from the album and I'm finding that the lead female doesn't pack enough of a punch to be able to deliver her songs that were written for male voices. But these are minor complaints. I'm a big fan of Green Day and I'm hoping that the show does well.
Today's exciting I Love Lucy palindrome:
Tarzan raised Desi Arnaz' rat.
Jennifer - I'm not being deliberately stupid, but for a player on the Bengals, is $10,000 really considered a lot to spend on a present?
I saw two of the three "gasp" moments on last night's LOST coming.
And speaking of "Lost"...
I'm currently watching it online, and noticed the Last Supper tableau on the "Watch Episodes" page. Hmmm...
Last week I mentioned that I would willingly sit through a screening of SHOWGIRLS, rather than having to sit through ARMAGEDDON ever again.
Today let me just say that I would willing sit through both SHOWGIRLS and ARMAGEDDON rather than ever having to sit through LORD OF THE RINGS another time.
Did anyone else have a WTF moment last night during the previews for next week's LOST when they played that weird distorted soundclip from WILLY WONKA?

Jennifer, a friend at book group yesterday told me she returned from a trip with a copy of THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET'S NEST. Guess what I get to read once she is done!!!! :D
DR Jane, I do have another book pick for you, it's THE PHYSICK BOOK OF DELIVERANCE DANE and it is quite a novel. I have been recommending, and selling, it for the past week at Borders as my personal pick.

I just looked it up. It looks interesting, especially after reading about the author's family tree.
(I'm also pushing DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY).

I'll think about this one. It looks good, funny thing is as much as I read fiction like this, not sure I want to read non fiction. I'll put it on my to read list & keep it in mind.
Thanks for the suggestions. Did you read THE HELP?
Don't forget to thank the little people, DR DRUXY.
And don't forget to thank the higher being for deciding your winning this award was more worthy of attention than the four other nominees and starvation around the world.

I have THE HELP on my "To Read" list, though I understand that the listening experience of its audiobook is a better experience.
Erik Larson's DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY reads like fiction, don't discount it just yet. His THUNDERSTRUCK is also a fine read, though not as memorable as DEVIL.
And don't forget to thank the higher being for deciding your winning this award was more worthy of attention than the four other nominees and starvation around the world.
Guys,
I DIDN'T WRITE IT!

They aren't remaking the movie, they are mounting a stage production in Dallas starring Feldshu & Buckley
I love your wildlife photos, DerBrucer.
