Tom Lehr (Love him Love him)
And there I was thinking it was "LEHRER"!
Mildred Natwick [Barefoot in the Park] has one of the best entrances in history.
TD: I just sent the transcribed lyrics to "The Last Great Waltz" to der Brucer. Hopefully he'll be sending them your way as well, in some form.
Jennifer's singing on the song is exactly right. As is her timing!
And now everyone else is going to be wondering "What the fu.....?"
I saw Wicked on Tuesday and really enjoyed it. Kristin Chenowith and Idina Menzel are wonderful, Menzel especially. I love the work Kristin does. She's a comic gem and the audience eats her up. They adore her. Popular is a huge success. To use an old saw, she could read the phone book and be funny. But the amazing work done by IM is beautiful and sustained and grounded (I hate that word) in something so real. Defying Gravity is such a wonderful number for her. I think, after seeing Donna Murphy in Wonderful Town and Ms. Chenowith and IM, that Menzel has a very good chance at the Tony this year. The score is, IMHO, good, not great. Popular and Defying Gravity are excellent numbers performed wonderfully, but on the whole, I think the score is the weakest part of the show. I read the book and adored it so I wondered how they would make it a musical theatre piece. The changes they made to be able to put the piece on stage, I think, were necessary and good.
Good morning. Has anyone mentioned Carole Lombard yet? And Jack Benny in TO BE OR NOT TO BE.
Many faves have already been mentioned several times, so I'll list some that haven't... Doris Day and Rock Hudson.
Cary Grant - one of THE best screen comedians. Made the tight rope walk of romatic leading man and comic look easy.
It's twue she's been mentioned, but Madeline Khan makes me laugh from the gut.
John Cleese (A FISH CALLED WANDA. And although it's TV - FAWLTY TOWERS)
The Keaton twins - Diane and Buster
Danny Faye, Bob Hope, Harold Llloyd, Laurel and Hardy (to this day I think of them as "Stan es Pan" which is how they are known in Hungary)
That's it for now. More later, perhaps.
BK - I reviewed yer book on bn.com
Bill Murray with whatsisname who directed Groundhog Day... what's his name??? more coffee is needed before I proceed. Jeez, what's his name?
ROTFLMAO!
Panni, I know that it was probably unintentional, but Danny Faye gave me the biggest laugh I have had all week.
Judy Holliday - THE SOLID GOLD CADILLAC
BK - I reviewed yer book on bn.com
Her character Laura Partridge in CADILLAC is one of the great comic performances, I think.
Maybe someone could cut and paste it in here like they did Penny's? And if someone could also post Penny's in the official Kritzer Time thread in that part of the discussion board, that would be swellegant, too.
LOVE the Kritzertime cover art...very nice.

Things of class last forever --
Inside the Table's circle,
Under the sacred sword,
A knight must vow to follow
The Code that is unending,
Unending as the Table,
A ring by honour-bound.
A knight is sword to valour.
His heart knows only virtue.
His blade defends the helpless.
His might upholds the weak.
His word speaks only truth.
His wrath undoes the wicked.
The right can never die,
If one man still recalls.
The words are not forgot,
If one voice speaks them clear.
The code forever shines,
If one heart holds it bright.
The best thing I could possibly say about High School is that it only lasts four years.Oh yeah? When I went to high school in Canada, it was FIVE years.
I don't know how diplomatic it is. I got nothing against her, but she's never really done it for me.
But at one point, my wife said," Rosie was my teacher. I learned to sing, listening to her."
Soon I'll be going to Mr. Grant Geissman's home environment, and we shall work all the livelong night to hopefully finish the KT CD.
Are anyone else's allergies bothering them?
DR Kerry: Rod Lauren and Johnny Restivo were both "groomed" by RCA to fill the gap left when Presley went into the army. There was only a 8 or 9 month period between "A Big Hunk Of Love" and "Stuck On You" and I suspect RCA no longer had the motivation to promote the new kids. "If I Had A Girl" was one of the top hits of 1960 here in OZ and Johnny Restivo's "The Shape I'm In" was very much a favourite of my friends at School at the time.
Robin Anderson
LOTS OF STRENGTH VIBES!!
Danise, congrats on wearing your ring again.
On second thought, after reading the beautiful posts on the subject, high school wasn’t so bad. It was certainly better than Jr. High. I still have many good friends from that time, including Bruce & Penny O and I of course have Keith, the best thing to ever happen to me.
Are anyone else's allergies bothering them?Yes, but I took a pill earlier. It might as well be spring!
And I just got a lovely new haircut.Ah, now that's another reason to look forward to Saturday!
I think if you're elite, it merely means you have class...and not a part of the dross.Oh, no, DR Charles! There is a definite difference between having class and being part of the elite.
But that was how Ken operated. He was interested in everyone, and interested in boosting everyone. I wasn't the only one who benifited from Ken's modus. There were many others.
I think that my friend, Marc, who is a Buddhist, would call him a bodhisattva.
Hey, did I mention I'm gonna be seeing Thoroughly Modern Millie when it comes to Seattle in April? I'm so excited for it! Yay for birthday theater tickets...
