Very warm here.....working on lines. I have a candle burning that is going crazy....so I must be going to get some interesting communications tomorrow.....uh....today.
-
Because I found out earlier today I'd be getting the first season of HEROES on DVD later this week, I had to accelerate my viewing of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. Tonight I watched 6 episodes. Among them were the season's best episode - "Bang" - where the marvelous Laurie metcalf took hostages at a supermarket and started shooting people.
-
Another excellent episode was the one that brought in Dixie Carter as Orson's mother who knows a few secrets.
-
Very ironic that Debra Monk has been in two things I've watched today. She was Gaby's modeling agent on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and she was on tonight's DAMAGES as well.
-
DAMAGES had an excellent episode tonight with Tate Donovan taking center stage for much of the hour.
-
I'm heading down to bed now.
Good night!
-
Good evening... Was about to post in the other thread before it was locked! :)

Pit Bulls Break Into Washington Woman's Home and Maul Her
GIG HARBOR, Wash. —
Two pit bull terriers broke into a house through a pet door Tuesday and attacked a woman in her bed, mauling her badly, a Pierce County sheriff's spokesman said.
The woman was able to grab a gun and try to shoot the dogs, then break away from the attack and lock herself in her car, where she called 911, sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said.
The woman, who was not immediately identified, was taken to a hospital in Tacoma, where she was listed in serious condition.
Officers planned to talk to the dogs' owner.
...
Well, I'm glad the cops plan on a chat with the dog's owners - we don't want any police over-reaction to this little misunderstanding

"Factor-like" red-herrings already surround S&V on Amazon.com!
Two posted reviews and we're off on a tangent of illegal immigration! There is no cogent correlation between S&V in the 20's and today's concerns over illegal immigration.
There is, however, clearly, a correlation between the xenophobia of the 20's and that of today evinced by the current xenophobic reaction to "aliens" in our midst, documented of not!
And I particular "enjoy" the comment:
"There is no mystery at all about why these two guys were executed---they were guilty as all get out."
Well, going in, I have doubts about exactly who is guilty of what - and I suspect the documentary will not resolve the issue - indeed if it is like many thoughtful works, it will raise as many questions as it answers.
I just hope after my viewing I can state clearly that the filmakers played fair. I presume, going in, that the filmakers have a progressive view of things (no hard-core reactionary would have any reason to re-visit the issue) - I just hope they were wise enough to do more than preach to the choir.

for DR elmore3003's return from D.C.
-
I shall now be on my way to the airport, from where I will post again.
-
And after catching up on last night's posts I shall go and wash the bowl.
-
Oh joy! Our corporate networks are down once again.
-
According to an Associated Press poll, one in four American adults read NO books in the past year.
Astonishing!
-
I just take the wise words of some DR to heart - was it George? -
regarding anger management:
[1] Count slowly to ten...
[2] Visualize what the video would look like on YouTube...
:)
-
Good morning DR DingSaw
-
And here I am, posting live from the President's Club. Wireless has obviously been fixed. I'm always amazed how many people are at the airport at five in the morning, especially mid-week. The President's Club is fairly empty (well, it's filling up as I type), but at the ticket counters downstairs very large numbers of folks. I do wonder, in this age, why anyone would stand in a ticket counter, but I guess they do.
-
It's still dark out here. My car was there right on time and the drive was a breeze - no traffic at all, the way we like it, baby.
-
About five people have come in here in the last five minutes. I am still sitting alone in my section, though.
-
Good morning, DR Tomovoz and Grand Poobah bk.

DR Megan, you have quite a lovely avatar. We are glad you are here!

There are lots of foodstuffs here in the President's Club buy I shan't be eating them. I will eat whatever the breakfast on the plane is, since I won't be eating dinner until around nine-thirty.

BK's show doesn't need buzz. It's got near-naked men. Why those near-naked men are not in the ads (like those ads for the underwear musical :) - which I hear is also quite good, BTW), I'll never know.

Well, I guess I'll mosey on down to the gate. I'll post as soon as I get Ye Olde Laptop up and running in my New York, New York apartment.

I haven't seen the whole thing...it's so heartbreaking I can't watch the whole thing at one time. A friend of mine edited it---I can't imagine how he felt while he was working on this.
I don't know if my old house survived, but my elementary school (2 blocks away) was under 8 ft of water and it was a bad neighborhood of old houses, so I'd be surprised if it was still there.
I'm not a big Spike Lee fan, but I liked what I saw of this. Just be prepared---it's so depressing and with some graphic images.

Princess Jason was cute and fun.

Good morning!
We did have a HUGE thunderstorm (complete with hail) last night around 6 p.m., but it didn't last long.
Today is supposed to be 99.
I hate summer (in case I haven't made myself clear earlier).
-
(in case I haven't made myself clear earlier).
And just exactly how DO you feel about summer, DR Matt H.?
;)

Today looks to be another day with nothing but DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES episodes. I may watch the last of the Charlie Chan films in the latest box - CHARLIE CHAN AT MONTE CARLO - since they last only a bit over an hour.
I'm not sure I've ever seen CHARLIE CHAN AT MONTE CARLO. After one has seen so many of these series films, it's hard to remember from the titles alone what's been seen and what hasn't.

For years I’ve been teaching performers what to do on auditions. There’s a lot they need to think about, and I’ve never specified “remember the face of your accompanist” as one of them. But a book with 20 songs? Absolutely appalling and totally unprofessional. Nobody, from peon to LuPone, can keep that many numbers in audition-ready state. And “The Beauty Is” – well, Jose and I can play it, but since most audition pianists can’t, why take the risk? Guettel, LaChiusa, J.R.Brown and some of Sondheim’s more difficult pieces are recipes for disaster. The audition’s about you and your personality, not the accompanist and his virtuosity sight-reading.

RE: DR Jose's comments about last night's ON THE LOT finale.
SPOILERS
*
*
*
The idea of the show was okay. but the host was bad. And they really had no idea how to work the show properly.
For instance it drove me absolutely crazy that when they were going to eliminate contestants at the beginning of each show they couldn't be bothered to take a minute to remind us what each had done the week before. That really would have made a huge difference to me.
RE: last night's show. I really don't think the voting had anything to do with the 2 films chosen (since i think adam's were by far the best and he finished 3rd).
Since it was based on the whole season it might have been nice if they had reminded us of every film each had done.
I didn't mind the bit at the end. I actually sort of liked it (will drove off to Dreamworks studios to meet steven spielberg).
But they did have a lot of time to fill.
At least they didn't wait to reveal the winner till 2 minutes to the hour. That was one thing they at least did right.
-
Just a reminder to everyone -- be sure to have colonoscopies done as your doctor recommends.
-
DR Cason: I'm absolutely heartbroken. You mean you really are straight? All my efforts in the last - how long has it been - week since I met you - have been in vain?? ;)
I just wanna say, I don't know many straight men who would put up with all the ogling and teasing that DR Cason does. That in itself shows me how confident he is in himself. That, and the fact that he's clearly in love with Heather.
And for anyone who may be wondering what's going on over here in NYC...give us both some credit. I know better than to go barking up that tree. DR Cason and I are just friends, and I'm very happy to have met him.

Amazon Rankings: The New York Times had an interesting piece a few weeks back about how some authors become obsessed with the sales rankings of their own books.
It may seem [sic] obsessive, but every day — sometimes hourly — Aaron Shepard checks the Amazon.com sales rankings for his 12 self-published books. He even created a Web site, www.salesrankexpress.com, that lets authors check their Amazon rankings instantly.
“People want to know where their book stands, just for the thrill of that score,” says Mr. Shepard, whose top seller, “The Business of Writing for Children,” clocked in at 1,834th during one random check last week, and at 2,070th during another one. He says it sells 250 to 450 copies a month...
As tantalizing as the rankings may be, it is difficult to correlate them to the number of books sold, unless you are J. K. Rowling. Amazon announced that it had received a record 2.2 million preorders for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” 1.4 million of them in the United States. Barnes & Noble also said advance orders for the book hit a record: 1.5 million in stores and online. The book has dominated the No. 1 position on both Amazon and BarnesNoble.com since Feb. 1, the first day it was available for preorder.
For the average author, however, the volatility of the rankings is a big hook. A book that is the millionth-largest seller on Amazon, for example, might surge hundreds of thousands of places with one sale.

Surely you mean brain-TAP?
And speaking of...
A question for ASK BK day:
Do you know if Mr. David Wechter is planning to attend any of the NYC Brain performances?
-
Going to see Avenue Q today in SF. Going with my favorite horn player, Cathleen. She's an Avenue Q virgin. Annie, Get Your Gun rehearsals are going well Our Tommy went and basically snaped his ankle in half and so had to drop out of the show. We re-cast withen the cast and we're back on track. This is such a cute show and fun to do.
Question for bk - what airline did you fly to NYC?
Vibes to the gang in NYC (which seems to be getting bigger everyday) have a great time together and be sure to report back to us.

We've picked a bad day - I'm already on a tear over the misuse of undocumented immigrants to further social change:
ASSOCIATED PRESS (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,293757,00.html)
Illegal Immigrant Who Sought Sanctuary in Chicago Church Deported
LOS ANGELES —
An immigration activist who took refuge in a Chicago church for a year to avoid being separated from her son has been deported to Mexico, the church's pastor said.
…
Arellano, 32, became a symbol of the struggles of illegal immigrant parents when she took refuge in the church to avoid being separated from her 8-year-old son, a U.S. citizen.
…
Arellano came to Washington state illegally in 1997. She was deported to Mexico shortly after, but returned and moved to Illinois in 2000, taking a job cleaning planes at O'Hare International Airport.
She was arrested in 2002 at O'Hare and convicted of working under a false Social Security number. She was to surrender to authorities last year.
…
Immigration activists responded with anger to her arrest, and promised protests and vigils to support her.
"We are sad, but at the same time we are angry," said Javier Rodriguez, a Chicago immigration activist who worked with Arellano. "How dare they arrest this woman?"
Anti-illegal immigrant groups said the arrest was long overdue.
…
Why do advocates for social change always pick the worst examples to publicize?
A. The woman entered the U.S -illegally - OK, an infraction, like a traffic ticket.
B. She is deported and then re-enters the country illegally - OK- now were up to a serious misdemeanor at least.
C. She falsifies information to obtain a job; is arrested, and convicted - now she is a criminal.
D. She fails to obey a court order to surrender - now she is a felon fugitive.
E. She seeks a phony sanctuary in a church and thumbs her nose at authorities.
F, She leaves the church with much publicity to protest against the government
G. She gets arrested and deported - NO KIDDING!
And, now, I am supposed to feel sorry for the family because the felon Mama abandoned her child - PLEASE!
If the immigration rights folks want to gain some sympathy for their cause, find an undocumented immigrant couple, both employed without resorting to falsifying SSNs, neither of whom has an arrest record, with a mix of undocumented and US born children, and then pick them up for deportation. (Now, you must address the issue of splitting the family between legal and illegal - and you are also removing the sole means of support for the US born children. - NOW YOU GET SOME SYMPATHY!
der Brucer
PS I would improve on the above scenario by finding an undocumented couple of obvious northern-Europen genetic heritage.

I am really disgusted by dick and the producers.
Update. Jen is on slop. She started eating regular food. She was told she would get a penalty nom next week with no chance of being taken off the block (if she stayed). So they decided to vote jameka off.
Well then big brother changed their minds and decided that she would not get a penalty nom next week. Instead she would get an extra vote against her this week.
Now whether that was more fair or not is up for debate. But how can they change the rules after they've already said what would happen.
And since jen is now the 2nd most popular houseguest (after dick) why would they want her to go. They manipulated things so eric and dick could stay. Why not jen?
Btw, i feel so sorry for jen and am so proud of her. She is finally standing up to dick (he is abusing her like crazy). He hid all her clothes and make-up in the hoh room, burned her with his cigarette (maybe not totally on purpose) and has been nothing but vile and disgusting towards her.
I just can't believe that his misrepresentation on the cbs show has made him popular. Everybody on the live feeds board i read thinks he is so vile and completely horrid. I just don't get why the producers have let him abuse and threaten jen like them have. really poor job on their part.

Michael Ball as Edna in London:

Has he packed on some extra weight or is that a fat suit?
-
Speaking of HEROES, DR MattH, did you hear that our favorite, Kristen Bell (VERONICA MARS) will be on the show this season.
Of course, I read that, and I can't wait to see how she's used in the story arc. Love her and love the show.
-
Just as hot and muggy today as was forecast. And there doesn't appear to be ANY chance of a late afternoon thunderstorm like we had yesterday.
-
Has he packed on some extra weight or is that a fat suit?
The last couple of times I've seen pictures of him in a tux, he looked very heavy to me.
-
I spent most of the afternoon watching more episodes of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. I'm up to episode 13 now.
I had almost forgotten about the creepy neighbor that Lynette suspects of being a pedopohile. That arc was very, very unusual for the show, and the misdirection was marvelous.
-
All the extended storylines with Orson's former life Alma play pretty tediously in back-to-back episodes without the benefit of a week away from them. I'll be glad when that story is finished.
-
I ended the afternoon scanning through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. More denial from Noah - the old "I can control it" argument.
From the looks of the previews, this storyline won't be featured on tomorrow's show.
-
Since our estemed BK might have missed my question very earlier this morning:

Good Afternoon!
Done for the day at Ripley-Grier. And I get to sleep in a little bit longer tomorrow, since we won't be starting until 10:30. -That half hour makes all the difference in the world.

And now, I believe I'm off to join a gym. ???

Dr Jane - I use Sprint, and I have to find a way to transfer the pictures from my phone/Sprint picture browser to another place/format. I thought I could just drag and drop them from the website, but that didn't work either. However, I'm sure there is a way to do it. Then again, you didn't ask me, you asked DR George. ;)

I still haven't figured out how to post the photos I took yesterday on my cell phone. How do you get photos from your phone onto your computer?
I have a memory card in my phone, so all I have to do is to take the card out of my phone, put it in a card reader and attach it to my computer through a USB cable. You should be able to e-mail it to yourself directly from the phone, but that (usually) costs. I think mine costs 25¢ per e-mail.

I did, until he passed away this morning.

Oh, DR DearReaderLaura, I'm so sorry...

Although Michael Ball has been heavier as of late, I'm pretty sure he is still wearing a fat suit for Edna.

I have arrived both safe and sound and am in my little studio digs, which I will be happy to leave on Saturday for the other studio digs, which, I'm told have newer things than these studio digs. It's not bad and there is a piano, so that's nice, but it kind of gives me the willies anyway, up here on Tenth Avenue. But, the high-speed Internet works perfectly and all is well. There's a shower shower (no tub shower) and a decent kitchen - the bed is large but funky and I do hope I can sleep in it until the move. The air conditioning unit works fine, although isn't really needed right now. The plane took off about ten minutes late due to a connecting flight being late, and we were held in the air outside of Newark for about twenty minutes, but even with all that we arrived only ten minutes late. Traffic wasn't too bad getting into the city, and Cason was here with my big box o' stuff and he helped me get connected to the Internet. And in ninety minutes I shall be on my way to a casting session.
-
Mr. Wechter will indeed be coming in and will be there for the first two performances.
-
Can't remember the name of the Heartbreaker singer offhand - Edie something, I believe. I think she's now married to Paul Simon so you can look it up.
Debbie Shapiro Gravitte sings When You're Waiting For Love.
-
I'm heading down now to read more of DEATHLY HALLOWS (I'm reading only a chapter a day so I can prolong the enjoyment) and then back to DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.
-
Oh. . . .

And in ninety minutes I shall be on my way to a casting session.

Good morning!
We did have a HUGE thunderstorm (complete with hail) last night around 6 p.m., but it didn't last long.
Today is supposed to be 99.
I hate summer (in case I haven't made myself clear earlier).
It's so dry in Indiana that the Baptists are baptizing by sprinkling, the Methodists are giving out wet- wipes, the Presbyterians are passing out rain-checks and the Catholics are praying for the wine to turn into water!
-
And when you are working on something, don't forget to hit "Save" every now and again.
I hope that's not prompted by recent personal experience! :P

I only lost a half hour's work when my computer froze up.

In any case...
I'm back at my apartment, and I shall be leaving very shortly to join the newest location of New York Sports Club which just happens to be two short blocks from my apartment. And the "VIP Grand Opening" membership deal is pretty decent - no initiation or enrollment fee, and my monthly rate is only 1/2 of the regular rate for the first year. Not bad at all. And since it's so close to the apartment, very convenient too.
Well, I better start walking.

Well, glad to announce that BJ has indeed arrived safe and sound here on 44th Street. Now, we just wait and catch up until we meet BK for dinner at around 9.

I shall now be on my way to the casting session. Pray for Rosemary's Baby, baby. Cason, show BJ our nymf page - and see if he has a headshot he can send me via e-mail.

BK - For what it's worth, I just got a message from a guy on Myspace interested in the part of Fred.

DR Laura, I'm very sorry. I feared there was sad news behind your statement.

Good Evening!
Back from the gym... Which, as it turns out, is not slated to fully open until October 1. Ah, well... I took the tour of the still in-the-process-of-being-completed places and it looks pretty good. It's one of those places that looks small on the outside, but is surprisingly roomy once you step in the door. Three floors roomy, in fact.
Even though the club is not slated to open for another couple of weeks, I went ahead and signed up anyway. What I didn't realize until before today was that the special Grand Opening rate is actually the rate for the life of my membership - I thought it was just for the first year. So, I'm basically getting almost 50% off the regular monthly fee for as long as I want. Not a bad deal at all. I can feel by tummy flattening and my biceps bulging already. ;)

What a great idea! Der Brucer could post a review at Amazon....and use that quote for a headline!
;D

Well, sorry to hear about the needed surgery, DR TCB, but it sounds like the best outcome possible.
Do you have some leeway as far as scheduling? I imagine you want to get it over with ASAP, to get rid of the pain and start the healing!
They are going to fit me in at the end of the day on Monday for an appointment with the surgeon. I should know a little more after that.
-
TCB I'm sorry you need surgery, best of luck it will be a complete success.
-
LOL...but I hope it doesn't make it to imdb/Amazon!
I remember when Sunday in the Park with George was at Arena Stage back in 1997. We basically got wonderful reviews from everyone except The Washington Post. -Which sort of surprised us, since the reviewer always seemed to like whatever Eric Schaeffer directed - even if there were issues with the production. In any case...
Since Eric had a background in graphic design, he came up with a mock-up quote ad for the show. It started off with pulls from the good reviews, then ended with...
"Flat."

DR Ron - I like Eric because he has been able to pull off lots off so many of the America's Player stuff and everyone just seems to fall for it, that's lol to me. And I think that a final 4 of Eric Jessica Danielle and Dick would be a lot of fun
-
Loblolly!

Nope - the Doc has been prompting for years but I'm not buying. If perchance I should develop colon cancer, then make me comfortable and let me go.
If you had skin cancer would you also leave it instead of cutting it off? It is basically the same concept, you cut off the cancer or pre-cancer spots-end of story. If left alone the cancer eventually takes over.
-
Still catching up. Better news than expected from TCB.

This happens all the time, Der Brucer

I just read the live feed summaries. Oh Puhleese. Jen broke the rules and flaunted it because she got nominated. Talk about a cry baby. Time for her to go home.

I sure would like some citable examples of the latter - not that I disbelieve you, I just need ammo to argue with my wing-nut tending friends.

And where is the Wendigo in this romantic setup?
Yep, I'm back! And THE WIZARD OF OZ, 1902, vocal score and orchestra parts were recovered. Now I have a lot of interpolated song sheets to locate.
-
Is that how those celebrity conductors do it?
It's certainly been the case with all guest conductors I've endured. The drummer leads the band, the conductor tries to look aware. It's the concept of those charity vanity prizes I never understand: give a lot of money then stand in front of smart musicians and look stupid.

I have a memory card in my phone, so all I have to do is to take the card out of my phone, put it in a card reader and attach it to my computer through a USB cable. You should be able to e-mail it to yourself directly from the phone, but that (usually) costs. I think mine costs 25¢ per e-mail.
Dang, I can't email photos from my phone & I don't have a memory card. There is a little space I have no idea what it's for. I just spent way too much time setting up a t-mobil "my album" web-site only to find I can't connect at the moment. ???

That's too bad. I wish I could help more, but I would need to be there, at your computer trying to figure things out. :-\
-
Thanks George. I ran out of patience (my eyes couldn't take it anymore) & Keith doesn't care so he wouldn't help me. ;D
-
You could see if your phone has a slot for a memory card, then you could get a card reader for your computer and transfer them that way. It's very easy and the card should be able to hold a lot of pictures!

Although, no computers are allowed in the pit at ACL. However, I could post during Paul's monologue if I happened to have my computer with me. ;)

Sure. I'm interested in all opinions, as long as they are informed, as opposed to ones belonging to those who didn't like the subject matter or product description and didn't even bother to watch the film.

I would fix my previous post, but I'm not sure how I "broke" it in the first place.

The instruction book says I have a micro SD memory card slot. Next time I'm at the mall, where the t-mobile folks are I will check out the cost to get one. Thing is, these folks aren't very knowledgeable so if they can't put the card it & send a photo for me I might skip it.
Keith hates his Sidekick & the chances are once our contract is up we will be switching to another server who carries a phone he prefers. I will make sure my next camera phone is easier to use.

Well, it seems like the camera part worked fine, it was the getting it out of the phone part was where you had the problem!
-
LOL-Taking photos is easy, in fact my phone does it all the time all my itself. Most of those photos are of the inside of my pocket. My next camera phone will have the photo button on the inside of the flip top, not on the outside of the phone.

I guess BK must be dining at Joe Allen's at the moment. I doubt I can stay up long enough to find out how the casting went.

Welcome back, DR elmore.

That sounds like the kind of memory card slot that I have. If your phone is anything like mine, it should otherwise be fairly easy to figure out. Once you put the memory card into your phone, you can move the picture to the card. You can also (hopefully) be able to set it up that the pictures you take are automatically saved to the card and not the phone.
-
I'm off to see the movie, "Hairspray." Have a good evening all!

Sure, real easy ;D If the cost of the memory card is reasonable I'll get it. I can always have Bryan do it for me when we see him next, if I can't figure it out before then-with your help ;)

Have fun George.

They PAID to look stupid. That makes it OK. Cheap or free stupid is another story.

I hope Craig can avoid more rain & storms during the remainder of his trip home. I should get my daily report from Ioana sometime tomorrow morning letting me know which direction they are headed from Memphis.

That picture, as you call it, may just drive DR Danise right over the edge!
As for the shoulder, I got good news for a change. The MRI shows that I did not tear the rotator cuff, but I tore a ligament in my shoulder instead. I will still need surgery, but the recovery time shoud be better. Thanks for asking, td.
Tearing a ligament sounds horrible, but still, if it is better then the rotator cuff business (are you sure that isn't just something from the underneath of your car?) then I am happy to hear such good news.

I like Dick...there I said it. Now, I'm not watching the live feeds, but I really like the Dick, Danielle, Eric and Jessica foursome. Don't like Jen. Not sure exactly what happened, but I'd love to see her go. I'll have to check the summaries for the live feeds
Uhg, I still can't stand Dick. Danielle is not a favorite either, but I wouldn't care if she won because I think she is playing a fairly good game and I imagine she is really a pretty nice gal. I like Eric and Jessica...especially Jessica...she makes me laugh. I am sure Amber and Jameka are very nice gals and I am sure I would like them...but good...well, I just don't know about them two.

My mom and I discovered that dinner at Denny's is not such a good thing. :P

We actually had a soaking rain tonight rather than a quick cloudburts that was over befopre it started. This lasted about 30 minutes and I'm sure was much needed.
Of course, all it means for me is that I'll be mowing the grass if not this weekend then most assuredly next weekend.
-
I'm off to see the movie, "Hairspray." Have a good evening all!
Hope you enjoy it. I certainly did.
-
I continued with many more episodes of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. Very interesting watching Marcia Cross get bigger (with child) by the episode. The episodes I watched tonight involved that weird murdering mother storyline that was probably the most venal plot ever presented on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.
-
Also watched Danielle find out she's with child which will lead later to the season cliffhanger.
After all the horrible things Andrew did to his mother during the first two seasons, it was nice to see him protective of her once he came back home. Now, if they had just given him some sort of personal life. Maybe next season. Wonder if he'll get involved with the new gay couple on the block?
-
RESCUE ME had another transition episode. Probie Mike finally got out of his apartment and went to a bar where a nice looking woman asked him if he wanted a mother-daughter menage that night. He was ALL for it. Very funny.
Probie Sean was teased about not fitting into the family AA group so he bought himself a lot of liquor and beer in an attempt to become more like his family.
These two guys crack me up every week.

Hmm... Are bk and the gang still at Joe Allen?

WHOA!
Just saw the clip of David Hasselhoff singing "This Is The Moment" on last night's finale of "America's Got Talent". Well, it appears Mr. Hasselhoff does not have talent... and he doesn't have pitch either.

Off to bed now.
Good night!

Oh I like Dick because he is trying so hard to make everyone hate him. He used to disgust me....now I'm just amused. He's still there. He's not playing a bad game and he keeps things interesting

Back from our casting session and a lovelier than lovely dinner at Joe Allen. We saw some okay folks tonight, and it looks like we do have our Rod and General Mills (confirmation pending agent discussion in the morning - but they both say they're on board - it's just the courtesy call to make it official). We saw one Fred who I thought was very good and I was willing to go with him immediately. It's never that easy, though - while he is a solid working actor and has done many NY shows, he also has a family (wife and two kids) and has a sort of day job that he has to deal with. We're trying to see if there's any way for both of us to bend our schedules and make it work. I won't know anything until mid-day tomorrow. The actor really wants to do it, but has this reality too. He has a nice voice, and most importantly, "got" the character, didn't over do it, and was funny and real. We shall see what we shall see. Otherwise, we're kind of out of options for the moment but are both thinking about alternatives.
-
That sounds promising, BK. I hope it all works out!
-
Busy day today; very long day tomorrow.
-
At Joe Allen, first the wonderful Jackie Mason came in. He basically stopped by every table and said hello to complete strangers - what a hoot. Then, in a bit of wonderful serendipity, my old schoolchum Linda Hart came in. I've been trying to find her contact info re our fundraiser. As it turns out, she's doing a NYMF show at the Acorn, too - Gemini. It looks like she might be able to come to LA to do our fundraiser - we're going to have dinner and discuss it. A refreshing change of pace from another alumni I've been trying to get to do the show - she apparently has some "problem" with me because she's being a complete twit - answering me tersely (not available), not addressing my questions when I ask if there's a problem I'm not aware of (I honestly don't have a clew what the problem might be - I've known her since she was nineteen, put her on my first CD for Varese, used her many times and, when she asked me to do a solo album I said yes, and when she asked me to do a second solo album, despite opposition from everyone at Varese, I said yes again), and I'm sorry, but I don't need to be treated with disregard by the likes of her. It will come back to bite her in the ass, that's all I can say.

But I hear he's HUGE in German!

And he stills moves his mouth saying my lines as I say them.
