BK, I forgot to answer your question, but now that it is Wednesday, I can answer. I am still working on my book. I have kind of torn the whole thing apart (KABOOM!), and now I have to try and put the new and improved Humpty Dumpty back together again.

I took two Advil PM tablets at 8:00 last night and was asleep by 9:30. My right hip and knee are tender, and walking is not easy, even with a cane, but nothing is broken, and I will get through this. Nurse Annabelle stayed with me all night, while Thatch and Stella did their usual routines of sleeping with me for a while, then running off to frolic before coming back to settle in with Daddy again.

BK, I am so happy that you loved La Fille Mal Gardée! I knew you'd catch all the things you've complained about in other ballet DVDs, from the photography shot from the waist up to the dance belt issues. The blu-ray is so dark that I missed two of my favorite bits: Alain and his umbrella flying away in the storm and the staircase business in Act Three.

The black and white telecast is all of the original cast and it's really quite nice. The sets are adapted to a soundstage, so it's a bit like watching the movie of Li'l Abner. David Blair sadly died of a heart attack at age 45, just before he was to become director of the Dutch Ballet (I think that was the company). He was a handsome dancer who was relegated to secondary status when Nureyev joined the Royal Ballet and became their superstar. Blair's daughter occasionally posts on YouTube clips of her father's performances.

You might like John Cranko's ballet Pineapple Poll, which made Blair's career. It's based on a poem by W.S. Gilbert, and the score is adapted by Charles Mackerras from Gilbert & Sullivan operas. I can't believe we haven't had a newer DVD of this funny ballet.

I had a dream where dozens of people showed up ay my house for a party that I didn’t know was happening. The house was a mess and there were house guests who had taken up residence and left everything a mess. I remember trying to make a pitcher of gin and tonic and asking a friend to play some music from her phone. No one seemed to mind the mess, but only two lifted a hand to help.

This is the second Amazon Fresh order in a row that I have requested delivery between 9:00 and 11:00, only to have the delivery show up at 8:15. I am not happy about this.
