Well, you've read the notes, the notes were bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and now it is time for you to post until the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed cows come home.

About the last word that I tried...I just typed in letters and didn't realize that it was a real word. ::)

I can't say this abdominal pain is going away, but I did sleep well until around 5:00 when Annabelle woke me as she vomited at the foot of the bed.

I am uncomfortable because of the abdominal pains, but I'm also in a rather bad mood. I don't know why.

Last night I finally watched the Nature broadcast about Pale Male, the red-tailed hawk was was a New York superstar for 32 years. He was found dead this year. The documentary did not include the huge brouhaha when the co-op board of the Fifth Avenue building removed his nest; instead, it focused on his first years after arriving in NYC in 1990. No one knows why a one-year-old hawk settled in Central Park, but he eventually found a mate, whom the birdwatchers named First Love and they eventually nested on a ledge of this Fifth Avenue building.

The hawks produced three babies, and the documentary primarily focused on the hawk family: the difficulties of teaching three fledglings to fly from a nest over 120 feet above the ground. They generally learn to fly by flying from tree to tree. The documentary was a good Father's Day surprise since Pale Male was a fantastic father, hunting five times a day to feed the babies pigeons, rats and other birds and rodents. There were also interviews with the hundreds of New Yorkers who became fascinated by this family of red tails, including the author of this wonderful book.

The notes gave me a craving for some Chinese chicken salad. I've had it, but not for years. I searched to see if BK had ever described Stanley's in any detail, but I don't think so. I went to Google and looked at a few descriptions and pictures. I'll have to see what's available in my neck of the woods, or better yet, see how challenging iti would be to pick up ingredients and make a big batch myself.

The one thing that surprised me is that it seems to always call for lettuce, not cabbage. The photos make that look perfectly logical, but I had always imagined it to be more of an Chinese or Asian style cole slaw - plus the chicken. I guess not!

BK:  Were you listening to Dead Ringer from an online source, or was some wonderful CD ever issued?

I only ever had the vinyl - and sadly, for some reason, only the mono.

As a lad, I was very much taken with the Davis & Crawford films that followed Baby Jane, and I remember thrilling to Dead Ringer. I'm looking at Davis' filmography, and had forgotten that that one came out before Charlotte (if the IMDb dates are anywhere near accurate). And that was followed pretty closely by The Nanny. But the score to be thrilled to, and always remembered, is Dead Ringer.

Kristi's office now has Juneteenth as a company holiday, so she's here and I think we're going to tackle a couple of housecleaning projects together later.

Enjoyed hearing about DR Rodzinski's adventure in the sky.

I'm probably the only one here who has ZERO fear of small planes (as long as I trust the pilot or the company), and who has the private pilot license to prove it.

(Don't get excited. I haven't flown since 1985, and the license can only be used when you've passed the standard medical exam and passed a check ride with an instructor within the past two years.) (But it's there to use, should I ever decide to jump through the hoops and do so.)
