Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of A Carol Christmas and its cast album, and now it is time for you to post until the Carol cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EMPYREAN!
-
Bruce, how does one go to Kritzerland
-
I just noticed I am no longer a newbie.
-
I am now a Jr. Member! I feel so honored.
-
Congrats on your Jr. Membership, Jan! On to the Sr. Membership! ;D
-
Then Full Membership!
-
And then, Hero Membership!
-
But first (for me, at least), sleep.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
The autumnal time change never bothers me. It's losing an hour in the spring that akes me life a mess for over a week. So, I was wide awake at 6:20, the old 7:20. The cats were happy.
-
I did sleep poorly, but it's too warm at the moment. I'm ready for cold weather.
-
In my way to City Center, I'll vote, so I will leave earlier than usual. I must be home by 2:00 since I'm hoping that the super and the plumber will be here after 3:00 to repair the hot water leak. I don't dislike the new super, but he's no Val.
-
Good morning to all
-
T.O.D.
There's really not a lot of films coming out this year (that I'm aware of) that I'm anxious to see. Even if there were. I'd wait until they were released onto DVD.
Seeing new movies doesn't seem to excite me like it used to. Don't know if it's the movies or me.
There is a film coming out the deals with Laurel and Hardy and a new Clint Eastwood movie which interest me, but beyond that....
:(
-
Good morning, all.
-
We have here another (so what else is new) dreary rainy day.
-
And I am off to vote and head to City Center.
-
BK re: the person who keeps screwing up her lines
Can you have her try it once in practice with the clip board? And if she can't even do that then... Oy! Glad at least the other person did well.
-
And I am home.
-
The voting place was packed, and it took me, as a privileged crippled old coot, about 20 minutes to vote. Then I went to the bank for cash, visited with the manager for a minute and missed the bus, As I waited for the next, Joshie texted me from Queens. He estimated he would not be at City Center before 11 since the lines to vote were so long. I called him and told him I'd be in tomorrow and came home.
-
Last week I upgraded my Mac to their latest upgrade and my computer hasn't behaved properly since.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Jan, I tried to answer your question last night when the site went down. I’m not a fan of the traditional Thanksgiving meal. All that dead food bores me (and boring to me is worse than it being bad). It’s only the company I treasure.
So, save all those bland carbs for someone else. I’d prefer beef or seafood and a salad.

Congratulations 😊

Few people are.

I was thinking of asking the same question

20 minutes wasn't bad. From what I am reading you got lucky.
-
I like voting by mail.
-
I received 3 texts on my phone regarding voting.
-
The first text was for me. I deleted the text and blocked the caller.
-
The second text was for Keith telling him how he could still register to vote. I then noticed it was from Oregon. I expect blocking the number saved me from receiving a duplicate text.
-
The 3rd text was once again for Keith asking if he was going to vote for someone. Before blocking the number I replied "Not now that you bothered me with this text".
-
Tuesday morning greetings! We voted on October 12, so Richard and I are on to other things today. I have lunch with my DAR friends, after which I'll come home and make the first batch of caramel corn for the AAUW Holiday Bazaar. Our house will smell good for election returns tonight!
-
It seems too early for a Holiday Bazaar.
-
Good morning!
-
Greetings from Amtrak Train 141! Philadelphia is next.
-
Congrats on a great show, BK!
-
Vibes for all!
-
So, Robin, who had never been in a marathon before, finished in 7 + hours. She isn't a runner, so she walked almost all of it. I met her as she was walking in Central Park. I was able to walk with her for about a mile and a half. We're all proud of her. Barbra thanked her on Facebook for raising money for the Cedars-Sinai Women's Heart Center.
-
Afterwards, Robin had arranged a little party for the New York Barbra fans (and me) at the Viand Cafe on Broadway and 75th St. (DR elmore--maybe we can go there sometime when I'm in the City--it's not far from your place, right?). Most of us had contributed to the fund so she wanted thank everyone for their support.
-

DR Jane, we sell, among other things, gently used holiday decor. People like to shop for that stuff now so they can decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. We also have a nice table of fall items right up front and a lot of items that are considered "re-giftable." It's also the same weekend a nearby church has THEIR bazaar and we've found people like to have multiple events to patronize.

Very nice, and congratulations to Robin!
-
Thanks on Robin's behalf, DR Ginny!
-
Earlier Sunday I saw "The Book of Merman" --- two Mormon missionaries knock on Ethel Merman's door and hilarity ensues! It was quite funny and the three performers were all very good.
-
So, yesterday I got out of the wind and rain and had some soup at Pret a Manger. I later met Robin at the "Pavilion" in Central Park. I waited for her as she was in line to have her medal engraved.
-
I had gone to the Broadway Theatre at about 11 am and got a rush seat for "King Kong the Musical." The leading lady was very good and there were a couple of nice songs. King Kong was pretty impressive, even if he needed stage hands (dressed in black pants and black hoodies) to move his hands and otherwise help him move about. I will say that it was certainly worth the $49 I paid (for a great seat --7th row left side) but I wouldn't have been happy paying much more than that.
-
Next stop: Wilmington, Delaware!
-
DR elmore: I'm so glad you decided to keep Thatch!
-
Yes, DR vixmom, I think you're right about the hotel prices. Though Saturday nights are always the highest (I guess Fridays may be just as high), maybe they were especially high because of the Marathon. I switched to the Doubletree on Sunday and Homewood Suites yesterday. The prices were much more reasonable than they would have been on Saturday.
-
I think I love New York City even more after seeing the joyous atmosphere for the Marathon.
-
Greetings from the car place.
It’s been a while. And that is generally a good thing. But it was time for an oil change.
-
After this I’m dropping a pair of shoes off to be resoled.
And then I’m off to the voting place.
-

Thanks! I am, too.

Then excellent timing and something I would have been interested in when we still celebrated Christmas at home.

These poor people were stranded at the airport because there, supposedly, weren't any hotels available due to the marathon.

Three!
-
Thanks for the notes on King Kong, KevinH. And the Book of Merman sounds better than the Book of Mormon.
-
Back from the above mentioned three errands. The oil change was quick; I was in and out of there in no time at all.
Surprisingly, so was the voting. I was in and out of there in ten minutes. It felt anticlimactic, and I hope the activity at this polling place picks up later.
The stop at the shoe repair shop held the only unpleasant surprise: I hadn’t had a pair of shoes resoled in years, but since when does it cost $95.00??

NINETY-FIVE SMACKERS!!
-
Somebody recently told me they regretted never purchasing the 1956 G. Schirmer vocal score for Bernstein's CANDIDE, and for the life of me I cannot remember who it was. I was just browsing on eBay and came across the vocal score.
-
I’ve got mine. I also have whichever edition it was (1970s?) that’s in hardcover. Haven’t looked at these in a good long while.
-
Find anything else of note there?
(Now that we both have our DESTRYs!) :)
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
jan, if you PM me here I'll tell you how - you can come as my guest if you're here for the December show.
-
Now I’m browsing eBay. Definitely a few scores of interest.
Maybe BK will issue A CAROL CHRISTMAS someday. :)
-
I like voting by mail.
So do I!
-
The only thing I don't like about it is not getting the "I Voted" stickers anymore. :-\

Congrats to Robin! My average walking speed is about 3 miles per hour (I've done the Relay for Life walk, so I've timed myself doing that). It probably would've taken me about 9 hours to walk the marathon!

That would be cool! BK's script AND score to his WELCOME TO MY WORLD were Indiegogo perks for that show's campaign!

NINETY-FIVE SMACKERS!!
Yet another reason I like to go barefoot.
-
Find anything else of note there?
(Now that we both have our DESTRYs!) :)
I was looking mostly at old French and German operetta scores.
-
No pension check today - I'm on hold with SAG/AFTRA.
-
They can't do anything until the tenth - which is a Saturday, so I can't call until the 12th. Then they reissue the check but it gets mailed, which means by the time they do that and I get it it's probably the 15th. This is screwed up and I am FURIOUS.
-
Good afternoon.
-
I was the speaker at a garden club meeting this morning. Then I voted. Now I am baking and making some dips for a meeting I am hosting tonight. Often I stop to sit on an ice pack for a few minutes.
-
Thank you all for the sciatica vibes. This pain is really quite minor compared to what a lot of people experience. I am just always on the go, so it is hard to have to slow down. I am certainly a morning person, so sitting on an ice pack for two hours in the morning really messes me up.
-
No word from The Game Warden yet.

Is that a solid 2 hours on ice? That seems like way to long at once.

Greetings from Amtrak Train 141! Philadelphia is next.
I have taken the trains between Philly, DC, and NY. I like the speed train the best.
I guess you're talking about the Acela train, DR Jane. I have never taken it. It's a lot more expensive than the regular train and it's only about about 35 or so minutes faster.
-
Thanks for the congratulations to Robin from DRs Jane, JohnG and George!
-
I went to vote at about 4 pm and there was no line, luckily.
-
The polls in Virginia are closed. Senator Tim Kaine has been projected to be re-elected. No surprise.

Right. From DC to NY I appreciated the savings in time as I could have used the ice pack DR Laura has been using. From PA to DC I took the regular train.
-
Splurging on the faster train is different when you don't use it on a regular basis.
-
I went to vote before work. Our polling place handles several districts ,there were a few dozen people there but the table for my district had no wait so I was right in and out

I got to work around 8:30 and was surprised to find the keypad entry didn't work, so I used my key
-
When icame I was surprised to find the computers were al off
-
So I turned my mine on and started answering emails
-
Then the computer turned off
-
Then the phones went out
-
Some one else came in and asked why the lights in the hall were out
-
Our lights never went out but the phones and computers were down until about 3:30
-
The boss used his cellphone as a hot spot and tethered it to a slooooooooow laptop and I used that to try and keep up with my emails
-
And used my cellphone to reach people
-
Put turns out the construction peop,e in the building (custom building an mpty Soave fir a new tenant) cut through an important cable
-
When everything was finally restored it was sheer chaos
-
But I managed to be out of the office by 8 by not completing everything they needed to be completed
-
I brought home a Taco Bell for dinner
-
I am proud of you leaving work behind.

I am proud of you leaving work behind.
Ditto!!

And speaking of leaving work, that's what I'm going to do right now.
Off to rehearsal! Be back later.

Hello, everyone.
-
John G, I'm pleased to heat that your father is back home again. Vibes to him, to you, and all of your family.
-
I'm hoping that the political angst that many of us have been feeling will soon be over.
-
Two of the candidates I was rooting for have lost. The third is still up in the air. All were longshots.
-
I'm pleased to see the high voter turnout.
-
That's three nonpolitical posts on a political topic.
-
I, too, am pleased to see that Vixmom is limiting her commitment to her clients in favor of her own welfare. I hope it continues. Not an easy change to make, I know.
-
Her boss needs a kick in the butt, IMHO.
-
I have no other news.
Good night.
-
I am proud of you leaving work behind.
Ditto!!
You must do it more often.
-
I did it today. I just up and left. Of course, it was after all but one had gone. But it was 15 minutes earlier than usual.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Five!
-
I'm watching an early Fassbinder tonight called The American Soldier. It's supposed to be American noir, but it looks like Alphaville and early French nouvelle vague, but filmed on an even smaller budget.
-
Bruce, I am a total troglodyte when it comes to social media. What is PM and how do I do it?
-
Private message here. Just click on my name and you'll see the option to do so. Or send me an e-mail to haineshisway at gmail dot com.
-
Facebook - not a night anyone needs to be there. And I will never understand how the media makes calls based on tight races where there are yet hundreds of thousands of votes to be counted.
-
I'm going to the market for some ice cream is what I'm doing.
-
I'm going to the market for some ice cream is what I'm doing.
Sounds good to me.
-
What flavor ice cream?
-
Very weird ending to this Fassbinder flick. But I guess that's Fassbinder.
-
And that's, folks.
-
Good night, all.
-
My POS congressman was re elected. Boy there are a lot stupid, self destructive people in my district
-
Vibes for ajihnmfis dad and mom and his whole family
-
Ajihnmfis is my private little pet name for John G (or perhaps it's my iPads petname for him)
-
Any of the NYC Contingent us the website TodayTix to buy discounted tickets to theater, music, comedy shows? The only thing that bothers me is that you meet a representative outside the theater to get your ticket. Anyone ever have a problem?
-
That's three nonpolitical posts on a political topic.
Well done 😊

Haagen-daaz is my favorite but I prefer their cherry vanilla.

We learned a couple of the group numbers.

;)

And speaking of leaving work, that's what I'm going to do right now.
Off to rehearsal! Be back later.
We had a good rehearsal tonight.
-
Good evening.
-
This has been an icky day
-
I found out that in addition to playing Santa Claus, I'm going to be one of the bank robbers in Ralphie's old west daydream sequence!
-
This has been an icky day
Oh, no.
-
I spent most of the day in the bathroom; and I wasn’t taking a bath.
-
I finally had to call and tell them I was going to miss rehearsal.

I know! I remember some years ago, a winner of some race (I have no idea which) was being called by one of the TV stations after only 3% of the votes were counted. WTF?? :o
-
I assume they got the message because I never got a response from anyone.
-
My POS congressman was re elected. Boy there are a lot stupid, self destructive people in my district
Sadly, that's not unique to your district. (cough...cruz...cough)
-
I spent most of the day in the bathroom; and I wasn’t taking a bath.
~~~Feel Better Vibes and QUICKLY!!~~~
-
It is a very complicated process. They use sample precincts determined by some computer formula, and from those they are able to project most, but not all, races.
-
Was Claire Foy the actress in the previous “Girl” movies?
-
I am updating my computer and I need to restart it. I don't know how long it'll take, but I'll get on my tablet, just in case it takes a long time.
-
I'm on my tablet now.
-
Doesn't that just thrill ya?
;)
-
TCB are you sick or did you eat something you shouldn't have? Either feel better quickly as I need your posts!
Well, this is pretty damned cool! Jared Polis becomes first openly gay person elected governor in America (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/jared-polis-becomes-first-openly-gay-person-elected-governor-in-america/ar-BBPqwWv?OCID=ansmsnnews11).
Maybe it was just something I ate, because I am feeling better now.
Yay, Jared Polis!
Earlier today, I bought THIS (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077H9PFZM/) bumper sticker 2-pack:
This year the limited edition only had three flavors instead of last year’s eight flavors. Turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie.
Goodnight, George.
Good night, Tom.
