I woke up about fifteen minutes ago.  I didn't get to bed until two, and I thought it was around nine or ten so I just stayed in bed.  Then I glanced at the time on my iPad and who knew - noon!  Guess I really needed to sleep and I did.  See what happens when the Tree Trimmers aren't there - glorious silence and glorious sleep.

So, in this interview with Cady Huffman of "The Producers" fame, she talks about eating lamb heart tartare while serving as a judge on Iron Chef America. Now, that just sounds nasty, like something you'd serve to Snow White's stepmother or something.

Just heard the edited version of a cue for an upcoming title - this is perhaps our oldest title, from the mid-1940 and from acetates, ninety percent of which sound amazing - in fact, people will be bowled over by how amazing.  But there was one almost ten-minute track which had horrible pulsing and wow, which was really irritating to listen to and just took you out of the listening experience - really bad.  And a twenty-six second cue that was even worse.  I decided to delete the twenty-six second cue since it contains no music we haven't heard.  And then, I created an edit of the almost ten-minute track that skillfully removed all the problems - it meant losing a little over two minutes of music, but the edits are very clever and you would NEVER know there was anything missing.  Sometimes I'm good at this stuff - had to do it on a few other scores, but this one is seamless.  I'm thinking about including the full-length version of the cue, damage and all, as a bonus or maybe a free download on the site.

Did anyone here see this about the malware that should strike tomorrow?

I just ran the test and it said my computer is clean.

My computer is clean as well.

Ditto. :)

Sunday afternoon greetings!  We are back from Lima, where the Killer Brownies were a big hit.  I was a hostess with the mostest, which took some doing because I'd only had about 3 hours of sleep last night and had been awake since 2am.  There was a vestry committee meeting after coffee hour, so I cleaned up the kitchen and then took a short nap in the recliner in the lobby.

Last Sunday and today, it sounds like someone is just revving their motorcycle...for hours!  Today, it's been going on since about 11:00 am (it finally just stopped) and last Sunday, it started at 8:30!!  I think it's actually trees getting cut down due to damage or illness, but still...8:30 in the freakin' morning?? :P is what I say.

And now, I must be off.  I must shower, get dressed and spend the day at my parents' house with my aunt.  I'm sure that we'll play cards or Scrabble or something and then we're going to Applebee's for dinner.  Sounds good to me. :D

Have a good day all!

Really enjoying the Victor Herbert set, Elmore. Of what I've had a chance to listen to, and it isn't much, I especially love the waltz that is "The Century Girl," though the waltzes are all wonderful.

And who said opossums can't have rabies? My understanding was the opposite. I've also been told that if animals that are normally nocturnal are out "in public" during the day, that they are likely to be rabid.

Oh I think making the cue available so that we can hear what has been done is a great idea.

Has anybody here tried YONANAS?

It's basically frozen fruit that you put in the machine and it comes out the texture of soft ice cream.

I got one this week and LOVE IT.  It is amazing especially if you like ice cream but don't want to gain weight.  Plus if you don't do well with dairy.

I showed it to my niece today. We made so many different flavors to test. We had banana/blueberry, raspberry, blueberry, with a bit of banana (this was super good). Also banana and peaches. And banana/cherry/blueberry.

I was definitely in the mood for a swamp movie.

I don't believe those are words I have ever uttered. Or thought.

I have often thought, "I'm in the mood for a good film noir."

Last night it was, "I'm in the mood for a black-and-white movie."

Of course, there could be entire worlds out there, just waiting for me. Perhaps I have no idea what I'm missing.

Ernest Borgnine has died.

He was one of the nicest people in the business.

I was with him in Dallas this past May at Texas Frightmare Weeked.

He will be missed.

Re: conversations from nearby tables:
I've been to some restaurants where the tables are extremely close together. Several years ago a friend took me to an expensive restaurant for my birthday. The food was good, but not great, but the real problem was the noise level in the restaurant. We were packed in like the proverbial sardines! There were four people at the table next to us, in animated conversation, and I truly felt like I was sitting in someone's lap. I know this is a highly rated--and did I mention expensive?--restaurant, but it ruined it for me. I would have preferred to have gone out for burritos and an actual conversation.

John G, do you hear many complaints about this?

Question: Do opossums carry rabies?

Answer: Any mammal can get rabies. However, the chance of rabies in an opossum is EXTREMELY RARE. This may have something to do with the opossum’s low body temperature (94-97º F) making it difficult for the virus to survive in an opossum’s body.

Raccoons are far more likely to carry rabies then an Opossum.  I've seen plenty of them (opossums) both in the day and the night around here where I live.  They are always cute/ugly.  Love the babies--when they are scared they hiss.  I've never had one try to bite me.  They climb up on the dogs cage from time to time and that's when I'll pet their tail.  It wraps around my finger and is surprisingly warm.  Anyway, I like them. :)  I'd be far more scared of a Raccoon.  I would never try to pet one of them in the wild.

Never heard of it until today.  I'll have to try it.  I bought lots of fruit this week because most of it was on sale.
