And I immediately think of "Agnes DiPesto" from "Moonlighting"!

:D

Same here. Loved Moonlighting!

...And I wish I had been able to see Mr. Diego Florez at the Met last season when he was in Barbiere di Sivilglia.  I bet his "Ecco Ridente" was exquisite.

*His debut album of Rossini arias is one of my favorite recital discs.  Not only only does he nail the vocal pyrotechnics, but his sense of musicality is... well... very musical.

Yes, where is our Jason.

Our Jose is here...our Jack is here...all of our "J's" are here...well, except Jay...but not Jason.

We certainly do have a lot of "J"s here.  Multitudes of "J"s, in fact.

Just call me Jan (the Man).  Or maybe you shouldn't.

Everytime you mention this name I get mental picture of Mrs. Beasley... the doll from Family Affair

I was going to say that Allyce Beasley make me think of her Alka-Seltzer commercial but then I realized that it was actually Alice Playten I was thinking of.

Oh but they do listen... and they talk back. Of course I have no idea what they are saying, but they talk back

Or, THE BALLAD OF JOSIE?

I think it was Universal, not Warners.

As for "Transamerica"... What an amazing movie.  I had not paid much attention to the reviews, except for the general raves, so the whole plot and journey of the movie came as a very pleasant surprise.

As other DRs have stated... Highly recommended.

Nice to know. I was in shock to see that it will be in Sioux City starting Friday. I'm planning to go this weekend.

Spent two hours watching the men sing on AMERICAN IDOL tonight. Some good singers, but I have to say there weren't any that simply lifted me out of my chair with their talent. I think there were a couple of girls last night who were much superior to any of the men, at least on this first go-round for everyone.

My votes for the two WORST vocalists tonight:

Sway, who did about 3/4 of the song in falsetto but switched to chest halfway through when his voice was tiring and then jumped back into falsetto again - just abominable.

Bobby, a jolly soul who did "Copacabana" with only a slight tendency to stay on pitch. Simply dreadful.

Continued watching skating from last night today, too. Thought Kimmie Meisner and Emily Hughes skated wonderful programs. Neither have quite the maturity to make them soar, but it gives one great hope for the future of American skating with these two on board hopefully for years to come.

The Madrid DVD of "The Barber" had a great cast and a director who didn't trust the singers to keep the audience's attention:  during al the vocal pyrotechnics, he had dancers needlessly prancing in and ot of the scenes.  If I were Mr Florez, I wouldhave stopped singing and asked, what the hell do you want, me or them? and if the director said them, I would have walked.  He also spoiled the funny moment in the Act One finale when the police arrive by showing them gettign ready on the side of the stage.  Why is it so many incompetent morons make a living by doing lousy work?  On the plus side, his Act Two Finale, with Almaviva and Rosina flying off in a balloon, was quite lovely and now I cannot get the tune for the bolero finale out of my head.  Well, it's better than "Mattilda."

I pre ordered the new AIP double features, MBARNUM.

LOL! Very good! I am so looking forward to them!! Oh, and Jonathan Haze as that cute caveman! Woohoo!

By the way JRand55, if you get a hankerin' for some fun Bollywood I suggest the film CARAVAN...not only does it star Asha Parekh (of LOVE IN TOKYO fame) but it has one H-E-double hockey sticks of a nightclub dance number by Helen! Whew.....and the other musical numbers are wonderul as well...all very chipper...no slow songs in this movie! It is considered a Bollywood classic...and it is in color! I have found myself watching just the musical numbers several times a week lately!!

I had another photo of Mr Florez as well.  This is an excellent album of tenor arias.

DR Elmoore, can you find me a baritone that looks like that?

DR MBarnum, you shouldn't always equate a deep voice with being butch.  I've known too many nelly baritones and basses.

My typing is pathetic.

Tell DR MBarnum about all the nelly baritones you know.  I am going to bed.  If the VCR were running, I wouldn't be wasting my time with you!

Sleep well.
