I work at a TV station, we've been hearing about the Ramsey murder all day. When I first started working here it was great to always be caught up on the news, but now it gets kind of tedious. And during the summer we end up running the same news 3 times a day, and that can get REALLY old.

Where have I been all day, I just now found out someone was arrested in the Ramsey case.

HAIRSPRAY is great fun.  The tour is coming to Sioux City this year and I'm sure it will be near you too JH.  I think we'll skip it this trip.

Man I look so red in that picture, I must have been drinking. I'm thinking of getting rid of the facial hair too. Although it does alow me to skip shaving every other day. I'm fine with skipping hairspray, I'm sure it will tour and it's only an hour drive to see it if it heads down here.

They've released more of the 9/11 callsfrom the Trade Center to 911 and they've been playing them on all rounds of the local news.  It's devastating listening to these poor people begging for help, but the 911 workers are amazing, so patient and supportive in such futility.

I have been doing my best to avoid hearing the 911 calls and have succeeded so far.  I cannot imagine why anyone would want to hear such heartbreaking stuff... knowing how the "the story ended"...

Vixdad completely zoned out on my birthday.  I spoke to him a  couple of times today and he never mentioned it.  When we got home there was a package from here from his sister in Canada and a card with a lovely something inside from his parents.  He watched me open them, looking very perplexed and then suddenly shouted  "It's your birthday!!!" (It was around 7:30 PM by this time.)

"Why yes, it is." I agreed , so we collected the Vixter from her rehearasal and I was taken to dinner at the Outback.

The Vixter arranged to have my dinner arrive with a candle in my sweet potato and to have me serenaded by the waitstaff.

HAIRSPRAY is tons of fun on Broadway, so if you liked the film, the stage version is a nice extension of it. The music is snappy and memorable. I found it a thoroughly enjoyable show.

Songs that did not make the final pre-Broadway rehearsals would not have been orchestrated.  Don Walker most likely didn't begin working on the score until the cast was set and a finalized rehearsal version was established.  Loesser had been doing various and sundry readings and recordings of sequences for acouple of years, and he acknowledges the singers who helped him develop the piece in the preface to the vocal score, IIRC.  Whatever was being rehearsed for 4 weeks would be what Walker was scoring to have it ready to open out of town.  From the evidence of a late rehearsal tape, the show after out of town opening was taken apart and reassembled a lot.  Those chunks that were cut and removed from the orchestra score were what made up the TER Appendix.

I finished HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE tonight. Always love the face off between Harry and Valdemort. Such excitement to come in the last three stories.

Ginny, never fear - I always wait until I at least have a couple of sparkling prizes to send out, and yours and Mr. Shayne's will go out in tomorrow's big shipment.

elmore - your sparkling prize is orchestrating The Brain!  What could be more sparkling than that.

Speaking of The Brain, the musical guy has come and gone - loved the new song and will now transcribe it for elmore to work his magic on.

Next, I watched MR. & MRS. SMITH (Pitt-Jolie version). It certainly had its breezy moments (my favorite parts of the movie), but the climactic gunplay stuff against the militia out to get them got very tedious for me.

This was such a big hit, I'm wondering if they're going to do a sequel to it.

Then, I finished the evening with THE PEE-WEE HERMAN SHOW, the stage version filmed by HBO that launched his TV series. I had never seen this. Nice to see where some of the ideas for the TV show came from.

Tomorrow, I'd like to finish up the MOTO box. I'm guessing there will be GREY'S ANATOMY episodes on tomorrow night that I've never seen before. I also have cued up in the DVD player, the MUPPET SHOW with Julie Andrews to watch tomorrow at some point.
