JRand, oh yes, very interesting.  It is great you have the proof in a book.  I have two interesting oral histories.  The first Keith proved was only by marriage so I can no longer say I’m related to Captain Smith of the Titanic.  The other is more difficult to prove and I’m sure it’s true.  The proof I’m a direct descendant of a famous rabbi would be nice.

I wonder if

Val Kilmer is... him!?! :)

Do you mean it was a fitting end to a long career or that it was the curse of the Emmy and he never worked again?

Dad's history with Peter the Great has many fascinating aspects.  I don't think anyone views it as a good thing that, after the miniseries' success, he never worked again.  He was the de facto producer of the project, which involved many, many months of filming in then-Communist Russia.  But he didn't receive the Emmy; the show did.  There was one post-Peter job, VP of then-producing-television MGM, but when that ended, he saw himself as wholly unemployable.  So he left the left coast entirely.

Tomovoz sent a few words from London, England!

He did enjoy "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", even though the star now is Jason Donovan...

"But the CAR is the star after all!"

Went to the new ALW* work, The Woman In White, and.... left at interval....

He is somewhere in France at the moment, and I will get to meet him and Colin on October 12!

Some people have all the fun, it seems!

*Andrew Lloyd Webber, of course!

Thanks, Jane!

I've always known that you're too good for my ego!

Pictures of the "Mr Tomovoz, I presume?"-meeting will definitely appear here first, before being sold to the National Enquirer.

Not so slow a day - we've been MUCH slower.  Back from Grant Geissman's house; book is now to bed.  Just spent a couple of hours chatting with my darling daughter and her friend.  Now I shall jump in the pool and then shave and shower and get ready to be on my way to the theater for our final performance (for this run anyway).  We're doing much better, audience-wise, with only about twenty seats left unsold.

Noel did your father receive credit for producing the series?  I don’t understand how it ended his career.  What did your father do after he left the West Coast?

Good Afternoon!

DR JRand54 - Mission Accomplished!  -Alas, I will not be able to post my pics until I get back to Fairfax, VA tomorrow since I don't have my cable for my digital camera with me.  -Actually, I just may send you the full-size digital photos, and they you can edit and post from those.  All I'll say right now is that there are/were a lot of trees in front of the house.   But beautiful trees a d a beautiful house.  And that hill is steep! ;)

My lunch with Barbara was wonderful!  We ended up at California Pizza Kitchen since ChinChin was closed due to Yom Kippur.  -Actually, a bunch of store fronts along Ventura Blvd in Studio City were closed for Yom Kippur.  So we just walked down a few blocks to CPK, and had a nice lunch there.  -We were basically right around the corner from BK's new abode.  And, yes, we dished the dirt, as well as shared some wonderful stories with each other.  I never really got to know her last year when I was here, but she really has quite a history of directing and producing projects here in L.A. as well as in NYC.

She was also very complimentary about the show, and she had some very nice and generous praise for me.  I was blushing.  After sitting in an audition room with her last year for five days in a row, I know what a tough cookie she can be, so her praise was very much appreciated.

After lunch, I explored a little bit around Studio City.  It was HOT!  The temperature/clock outside the bank kept climbing in degrees... 98, 99, 100, 101, 102, 103... 104(!),... 105(!!!).  After a brief ride on the 218 Bus, I headed over to Orange Grove, took my pics, then grabbed the 218 back in the other direction, and now I'm back in the Miracle Mile.  And now I must pack up my stuff here, clean and get ready to head into the theatre...
