In 2001, the Guinness Book of World Records bestowed the record for the longest handmade candy cane to Paul Ghinelli, who created a 58-foot, 2 1/4 -inch cane at a restaurant in Leslie. He broke his own '98 record (16 feet) and 2000 record (36 feet). He'd planned to chop it up and auction it off, but the restaurant burned down a couple of weeks later.
Worst Memory of Last Week: Nathan Lane in an interview with Katie Couric during which much was made of "The Producers" and the Golden Globe Nominations. That was fine and funny. Then Katie mentioned that "Brokeback Mountain" had gotten more nominations. Nathan smirked, ridiculed the line "I wish I could quit you"...over and over and over.
It was the most disappointed I've ever been in a celebrity of any ranking.
Yes, I did enjoy OKLAHOMA, DR Matth, but I don't think it will ever be one of my favorite musicals. For my Gordon MacRae fix I would more likely watch BY THE LIGHT OF THE SILVERY MOON!

BK, if I could afford the trip to L.A. I would surely go to see the play...you will just have to bring it to the Pacific Northwest and cast Ms. Jessica Skerritt.
Someone on another board was actually and hilariously trying to JUSTIFY the age of Fred and Dauntless. And they were serious. And yet they thought Glenn Close wasn't right for South Pacific. How do you even have a discussion with such a person?

DR elmore - More undecipherable writing? I thought you were putting the project to bed? In any case... If I don't make it up tomorrow, I will not be up there until the second week of January. So... Can it wait until then? If not, could you scan it and e-mail me the writing in question?
...Did I make the acknowledgments? ;)
