Well, you've read the notes, the notes were birthday notes, and now it is time for you to post until the birthday cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FESTAL!
-
A Very Happy 74th Birthday to Our Very Own BK!! :D
-
And that's a very nice picture of you as a young boy.
-
Have a good day, all!
-
All of My Best Wishes,
To BK on His Birthday!!

Good morning, friends.
-
bk - wishing you a truly wonderful celebration. Happy Birthday!
-
DR George - congratulations on the new car!
-
Good morning, all!
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday, BK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for keeping the best partay on the internet going for the past twenty years!
-
Last night seemed endless. Thatch and Annabelle stayed with me, and I did sleep rather well, but I'm feeling quite lethargic today.
-
DR George, I look forward to photos of your new car.
-
Best Wishes, Bruce!!!

Good morning.

Happy Birthday, BK!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Happy 74th birthday, BK!
-
74 is a fine number, indeed.
-
I know I have seen that cut number from the Into the Woods movie before, but where? Perhaps it was included as a bonus on the DVD? I think Streep performs it very well.
-
:)
-
~~~CONTINUED VIBES TODAY~~~ for DR Laura's roof!!!!!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Happiest of birthdays to our fearless leader, MR BK!
Seventy four years young.
Yes that is a nice photo in the notes.....and a nice shirt!
-
It's that joyous time of year -- when, for one blessed week, BK is three (3) years older than me. :)
HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAY WISHES TO BK!
-
In a half hour or so my sister Paula and I will be on our way to bank....
I am waiting for the gentleman at the Citizen's Bank to ask me why I decided to put the estate account at the Huntington Bank....if he does, I have my story - reported here on HHW a few months ago - about the certified check that I was accused of printing up in my basement and trying to pass at the good old CB.
-
Interesting to read MR BK's take on Being the Ricardos.....I want to see it.....but I really don't need the folks dragged into the 2020's....but I guess if you don't trust the audience to know anything - or you don't know anything yourself.....well....there you are.
-
THERE YOU ARE. That should be the title of something-or-other.
-
Two.
-
I picked up one (1) plain bagel yesterday at the store and am eating it now, toasted, with cream cheese. I haven't had one in a few weeks, and it's so delicious I wish I'd picked up at least one more, if not several more. Damn it to HELL.
-
Congrats on the new car order, DR George. But I, too, am shocked to hear it's going to take five months to get it. That must be due to the times we live in, with shortages on car parts. But still.
I also have to wonder why - when it's a custom order anyway - they couldn't at least offer you some cherce in seat coverings. But that is the way of corporations.
-
I know I have seen that cut number from the Into the Woods movie before, but where? Perhaps it was included as a bonus on the DVD? I think Streep performs it very well.
It's wonderful and she's really excellent. I fell in love with the song as soon as I heard it.
-
I do love Subarus now, and that's where I'll go when it's time to buy new again.
Subarus are especially popular in northern climes, with their all wheel drive. I see scores of them every time I'm out. I hear you can go to southern states and see virtually none at all.
-
Oh, DAMN ME.
I do so want another bagel.
More coffee!
-
So, last night, for my very first time, I watched Nightmare Alley. The original, not the new Guillermo del Toro version.
WOW. It's a trip, for sure. I went in knowing nothing about the story, only the setting, and my jaw was on the floor half the time at the content they managed to get in there or allude to in 1947. There's apparently even more that they didn't. Amazing, really. I will revisit it soon to listen to the commentary track. And I'll definitely go to the new one at some point to see del Toro's take on it.
-
Amazing. I have the Blu-ray here, but I must not have checked out everything on it. That is incredible.
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRUCE!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRUCE!
🎂🎁💐🎉🎈😘💙
-
I still remember, shortly after we met when you were 16, and discovering our birthdays were one day apart 😊
-
Happy Birthday BK!
-
George, either black or dark grey should be pretty with the blue exterior.
-
There's lots of noise here.
-
Sadly, they felt they could fix it without having a crane remove the unit. So GS will be disappointed.
-
Bruce, have a fun day celebrating your 74th!
Fabulous. What a shame this was cut!!!
-
THERE YOU ARE. That should be the title of something-or-other.
Or, in your case, WHERE ARE YOU?
-
Oh, DAMN ME.
I do so want another bagel.
More coffee!
I did not succumb to HHW peer pressure this morning. Before I ever logged on, I had a cup of coffee and an apple fritter. YUM!
And then I had another cup of coffee while I surfed.
-
I know I have seen that cut number from the Into the Woods movie before, but where? Perhaps it was included as a bonus on the DVD? I think Streep performs it very well.
It's wonderful and she's really excellent. I fell in love with the song as soon as I heard it.
I always felt that part of the movie ended too quickly...this song would have served it very well.
-
An apple fritter sounds good.
-
I have leftover chocolate cake.
-
Instead of cake I am enjoying a cup of hot chocolate.
-
Keith is enjoying his coffee and deciding were we will explore today, someplace out of town I have never been to.
-
I doubt the riding stables I went to as a child are still here. My best friend and I met George Hamilton, looking dashing, after our ride and chatted with him while he waited for his horse.
-
George Hamilton was super nice and very friendly to two young girls.
-
They left without saying a word. I guess they are done?
-
Boy, there's going to be A LOT of stuff that falls down when they remove the tarp.
-
DR Laura, wasn't there at least a parade down your block, with marching bands from the local high schools?
-
;D
-
There certainly OUGHTA have been!
-
:)
-
DR LAURA maybe they are on a break.
-
The banking was most interesting.....and said topic did not come up......
I was asked if I had an account there which of course I do - but I think if I hadn't there would have been a surcharge for the service.
-
This afternoon we shall go to the second bank....close the current checking account and open the Estate Account.
-
Happy birthday, BK!
Birthday cake or pie? Or both?
This day has been crazy busy. Why, I don’t really know.
This day has been crazy busy. Why, I don’t really know.
If I were suicidal, this could be the day. Nothing is going right.
I'm up, I'm up - just about eight hours of sleep.
-
Many thanks for the lovelier than lovely birthday boy wishes!
-
Lots of e-mails and texts, too.
More hugs, Elmore.
-
DR John G. - both. Definitely both.
-
Seven years ago today, we said goodbye to DD Zach.
-
They left without saying a word. I guess they are done?
What! Did both the roofers and AC people leave? Have you called and spoken to anyone? Maybe they just took a lunch break.
-
Boy, there's going to be A LOT of stuff that falls down when they remove the tarp.
That isn't surprising. The AC people should have cleaned up the mess. I expect they didn't.
-
DR Laura, wasn't there at least a parade down your block, with marching bands from the local high schools?
Seven years ago today, we said goodbye to DD Zach.
-
Zach looks like a real sweetheart.
-
It is 75 degrees and sunny today, finally a warm day.
-
Wednesday evening greetings! Guess what I found in our newly waterproofed basement when I went down to do laundry this morning - yep, water. We can’t tell where it’s coming from and the chick who answered the phone at the company says they can be here Tuesday. We’re on a cancellation list, but it’s impeding my Christmas decorating, which is already slowed down because Richard can’t help.
At least I was able to do the laundry…
-
Happy, happy birthday to BK!
-
DR George - congratulations on the new car!
Thanks, Singdaw! I'll definitely post pictures when I get it...some time next year.
-
Oh, look! It's Page Four!! ;D
Thanks, Larry! So do I. :D
I know, right?? What IS the big deal with color options...or the lack thereof?? But fortunately, it'll only be four months, not five. ;)
-
I do love Subarus now, and that's where I'll go when it's time to buy new again.
Subarus are especially popular in northern climes, with their all wheel drive. I see scores of them every time I'm out. I hear you can go to southern states and see virtually none at all.
The car I had in the '90s just before I got my Escort was a Subaru Justy with a button on the stick shift that I could push to get four-wheel drive anytime I needed it. That was a cool feature.
-
There are times when I wish this here site had a "like" button.
So do I.
We used to have the Karma button. Maybe that can be used without the negative karma option.
-
George, either black or dark grey should be pretty with the blue exterior.
Thanks, Jane. I did not want a black car, but black cloth on the seats didn't look bad on the car I drove yesterday.
I'll check on Ye Olde Karma button.
Good evening!
I'm sorry I missed your birthday yesterday, DR Jane. Belated good wishes!
-
Happy Birthday, Bruce!!!
-
Congrats on the new car, DR George! I'm thinking of getting a new one at some point, but my 2001 Camry works just fine.
-
Thanks for that "Bette Davis sings Feliz Navidad" link, DR ChasSmith. I shared it with several people. I think it's hysterical!
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
New car eventually vibes for DR GEORGE.
-
DR singdaw that for the photo of DD ZACH. I don't think it ever gets easier.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
What is your favorite Birthday Card that have ever received?
-
DR George - congratulations on the new car!
Thanks, Singdaw! I'll definitely post pictures when I get it...some time next year.
SOME TIME NEXT YEAR - sounds like the noncommittal version of SAME TIME NEXT YEAR
-
Hugs to singdaw. :(
-
DR Freddie--you asked the other day about "Morning's at Seven." It was supposed to close on January 9th.
-
Congrats on the new car, DR George! I'm thinking of getting a new one at some point, but my 2001 Camry works just fine.
Thanks, Kevin!
Hello, everyone.
-
MEGA Happy Birthday to BK!
May you have a wonderful celebration tonight!
Congrats to DR George on his not-quite-here-yet new car!
Vibes all goes well and it's worth the wait.
So nice to see DR Ron posting here again.
You were missed.
Hope you have been able to get some better rest, DR Jeanne, and that you are feeling better.
Hope you have been able to get some better rest, DR Jeanne, and that you are feeling better.
Thank you, Sing. Yes, I slept well, and am doing better today. However, the to-do list calls. I postponed one errand and did the laundry instead. I'm hoping for a little staycation before the end of the year.
-
Must find some lunch.
TTFN.
Jrand, best birthday card was the one that had Cindy Williams' The Creature Wasn't Nice signed contract in it :)
When the roofers got started, they discovered that they could make the repairs without having to move the AC unit off the roof. So they didn't need the crane or the AC people at all. The repair took only two hours.
-
The mess in the tarp -- it's the stuff that fell inside while they were removing the old shingles and damaged wood. It's up in the tarp that is stapled to the ceiling. There is no mess in the house. The drywall guys will take care of it when the ceiling is repaired. Hopefully soon!
-
Glad you are making progress, DR Laura.
May it continue apace.
I do not like clowns. Or scary clowns.
I shall shortly be on my way to the birthday dinner. The Pearls are picking me up - they should have been here six minutes ago, but Barry has never been on time in his life.
Enjoy your natal repast, BK.
Happy 74th Birthday to the Founder of the Feast, our Host, Mr. Bruce Kimmel
That's amazing.
Back from a really fun birthday dinner at the Smokehouse. Had three pieces of the garlic cheese bread, a shrimp cocktail, and the wedge salad with thousand island dressing, all great. Some creme brûlée for dessert.
Feeling just right - not too full.
Now, I have to decide if I want to watch a motion picture.
Am glad your birthday festivities were pleasing!!
Amen.
Listening to Charles Munch do Symphony Fantastique by Berlioz - wonderful performance.
-
I watched the first twenty-something minutes of The Harder They Fall, a smart-ass, meta, bit of twaddle that reviewers love because their so scared to criticize it. Some have, and few of its reviews are outright raves. But, I'll have more to say in the notes.
-
I gotta tell you.
ASK BK DAY!
Is it true that at one time, before ALW became involved, Stephen Sondheim was working on the idea of a musical of SUNSET BLVD with Angela Lansbury as Norma Desmond?
-
If anyone's interested in Menotti's The Medium, starting tomorrow, OperaVision (https://www.youtube.com/c/OperaVision/featured) will be streaming the Croatian National Theatre Zagreb production (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsOTKyRGEYs).
Also, there's also this introduction to that production:
T.O.D.
ASK BK DAY!
Is it true that at one time, before ALW became involved, Stephen Sondheim was working on the idea of a musical of SUNSET BLVD with Angela Lansbury as Norma Desmond?
I have a vague memory that I'd heard that it was suggested to him, but he thought that it had to be an opera, and he wasn't interested in writing an opera. But I do remember hearing/reading about Angela being suggested as Norma. I would've loved to see/hear that!
-
TCB, the answer, as far as I know, was that it was talked about - don't know about Lansbury - but when I asked him directly if he'd written anything the answer was not a note.
-
I don't think he thought it was a workable idea.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
Are up the new notes?
-
They are.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
