I did travel to England from OZ by ship in 1973 - via the Panama Canal.
Perhaps TCB will regale us with tales of his days as cabin boy on the Tea clipper ships.
And the word of the day is: DELIVERANCE!My hairdresser told me "De liver rinse will do de most mahveluss things for you hair, dahling. We extract de juices from only de very best cuts of calves liver and massage it onto you scalp, where it adds body and vitamins and... no, wait, where you going?"
Good morning, Danise!
My mother just booked her first cruise - to Alaska - and she will be almost 88 years old when she sets sail.
My first ten trips to NYC were with my aunt and uncle, and on EVERY one of them, we would take the boat trip around the island.
Have to figure out what I'm staging today. As long as you';re not staging another meltdown all should be fine :D :-*
We did this after our wedding with my parents and Vixdad's parents. I also attended a wedding reception on a boat that motored around NYC... very lovely they arranged for us to circle the Statue of Liberty at sunset
He likes everything!
I'm sure he has tales to tell! ;)
Did some canoeing in New Jersey near the Cheesequake State Park. I like to type the word "Cheesequake."
Good morning everyone! I am officially done- no more school, no more internship, nada! All I have to do is show up in two weeks wearing my cap and gown.
Anyhow I do still need postal vibes since i also sent a very important express envelope which should have arrived yesterday. It absolutely must arrive today! Fingers crossed.
Hey, I just made up a riddle:
What do they play when a mohel graduates?
Dan - How about a hint? Soemthing to do with "cut and paste" maybe? :)
Oh right, no groaning on HHW! (a response to Dan's joke, not Ginny's blog :) )
***CONGRATS, T'PUNK!***
If anyone wants an excuse not to celebrate Mother's Day, One thing that struck me was how incredibly young most of the sailors were.
Though there is the temptation to start telling circumcision jokes in DR Ginny's blog's comment section :D
Ginny
How can you call those the core of the GIC Reference Collection with a straight face?
You completely left out "Foundation Center's Guide to Winning Proposals III: Even More Ways to Win!"
I am home due to a splitting headache, so I think i shall go rest.
Can anyone here tell me how to insert a screen shot of a website into a Word document?
I wonder if Luba Kadison's apartment was rent controlled.I once visited Dorothy Frooks, an elderly lady lawyer, at Morgans, the too too trendy hotel on Madison Ave. (I was doing research for a screenplay. Miss Frooks had been hired by Harry K. Thaw - yes THE HKT - to defend a young woman accused of murder. Thaw fell for Miss Frooks in the midst of all this. A fascinating story. Frooks is featured as one of the "witnesses" in the movie REDS.)

ANYWAY, Miss Frooks had lived for many years in what had become Morgans. When they were renovating the building to create the chrome-on-chrome hotel, she refused to leave her digs, so her rent could not be raised.
So - when you entered her apartment, you'd go from the terribly trendy hallway and step back 50 years by crossing her threshold. Very unsettling and interesting.
If you want to read a little about Dorothy Frooks, BTW, the Wikipedia entry is TOTALLY wrong. You can find a bit at
http://library.law.columbia.edu/rise_of_women/practice/dorothy_frooks.html
If the resolution is not that important, you can just hit ALT + Print Scrn on the web page and then Paste it into the Word doc. If you want to be able to clearly read the what's on the webpage, you might have to paste it into Paint and then crop off some of the white space before you paste into the Word doc.
Congratulations, TPunk!! How did your kids do when you said good-bye?
My mother just booked her first cruise - to Alaska - and she will be almost 88 years old when she sets sail.
DR Ron - I have cancelled my trip to San Francisco. There are many unpleasant things that have been happening at work and I decided to take the cats to the lake for 4 or 5 days around memorial day rather than spend 4-5 days in a hotel meeting room listening to lectures about things I already know...even if it is in San Francisco
My library visit is now at an end. See you all tomorrow.
As for Wikipedia's accuracy, read this linked article (http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/editorials/2005-11-29-wikipedia-edit_x.htm).
Thanks for that, Dan. Fascinating and scary. Guess people better not toss out their Funk & Wagnalls just yet.

Ooo, I'm so excited - I now have a blog:
Nonprofit Notes (http://nonprofitnotes.blogspot.com/)
I just had the most amazing lunch with Rodzinski. I met him at his office and we went to Little India in Queens for an Indian buffet lunch. I made three trips to ensure we got our money's worth of course.
Constance Bennett was the scary looking one, though. And dead between filming and release. She had gone to Switzerland for a long put off face lift....she was afraid of the surgery....but went through with it once she was cast in MADAME X... Vanity.....
Ok, call me crazy, but in addition to the crazy stuff happening at work, for the past 3-4 weeks I have had this overwhelming feeling that I shouldn't go to San Francisco on this trip. It isn't usual for me to get this feeling and I had a huge rush of relief when I cancelled the trip. Maybe it's nothing, but I feel a lot better.
Was the call from someone in the White House?
Good morning everyone! I am officially done- no more school, no more internship, nada! All I have to do is show up in two weeks wearing my cap and gown.
DR RLP - what is the scariest place on an aircraft carrier? What is the most exciting?
Oh, crap!
Ponder this a bit more, will ya? See if your feeling was more about the "flight" than the actual "being in" San Francisco.
Otherwise, I'm gonna start packing stuff up to survive the earthquake!
Ginny, lets see how small this world really is…when does your mother leave for her cruise?
Scariest: Flight Deck during flight operations
Most exciting: Any exit being used for "Liberty Call".
Well, I guess the Chief's Mess was pretty lively...best food on the ship...but "exciting"? It eluded me.
Anyone going to see the new POSEIDON movie?
Only if Keith wants to see it, which means if the reviews are good I expect so.
Very gray here, too, but maybe it will burn off.
Boats? For being around so much water, I've sadly little experience on 'em. Just a few ferries around Puget Sound and up to Victoria, B.C.
Here is something ODD that should tickle the fancy of many of you:
On eBay, with a starting bid of $380,000:
