Well, you've read the notes, you thought the notes would never be posted, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're bored of Long Night's Journey Into Day and are doing Ah, Wildnerness instead.
-
And the word of the day is: COMPOST!
-
And a very happy graduation day to dear reader Sandra.
-
Pssst...BK, it's TPunk who's graduating.
-
Well I dont see any reason not to congratulate them both... Congrats to both....
-
George, have fun at the concert. I have always liked Manhattan Transfer.
-
bk, i hope everything is smooth sailing from here on out...
-
I have LOVED The Manhattan Transfer ever since I discovered them in high school...and have never stopped. ;D
-
I've seen the group in concert six times and this'll be the first time that I've seen any of them doing a solo act.
-
Well, it's time for me to be sleeping. Good night, DakotaCelt!
-
Good news about the CONVERSATION....the verb not the movie.
-
Work today AND thunderstorms, what a combination.
And tonight is THE AMAZING RACE.
DRJENNIFER, if you have a tracking number, you can usually go to the website for the post office and find out where the package is.
-
Fingers crossed for Mr Yamin tonight - I thought Taylor's GHETTO was wretched, but there you are....
-
I have LOVED The Manhattan Transfer ever since I discovered them in high school...and have never stopped. ;D
Wow! I didn't know they all went to high school together! Tim Hauser looks so much older than the others.
;D

Compost. That's the name of our cable company.

Compost. That's the name of our cable company.
Exactly!! :P

It's happened again.
No, we're not adding another dog to the household. (Angie is growing so fast it just seems like we've got more than six.)
I've got one day off this week, and der Brucer has already found a way to book it with something that needs doing.
This time, it isn't at the grandlads' bidding, or their mother's. This time, the request has come from the teacher of the elder lad.
She and her class will be going to Philly sometime soon to see the play The Stinky Cheese Man. What she has asked of her favorite grampa (and, therefor, of myself, the "spare") is to locate a nearby place where the class can enjoy their box lunches.
So der B and I will be heading up to scout out locations, preferably close to the theater. A park with grass, or someplace with benches, will be perfect. "Ah, but what if the weather is wetish?" I asked when der B explained our mission to me. He looked at me and scowled, because he knew I was right, even if I had complicated the job.
Philadelphia, here we come, yet again. I admit, I like the city, even though I have yet to have a proper Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, the kind you have to bend over while eating so as not to get the contents dripping all over yourself.
A raid on the Reading Terminal Market is also on the schedule for the day. :D
-
And now, off to work!
-
I have LOVED The Manhattan Transfer ever since I discovered them in high school...and have never stopped. ;D
I saw them twice at the glorious Latin Casino in Cherry Hill, NJ (once on a double-bill with Lily Tomlin--now that was a show!)
-
Good morning!
It's still overcast here, but it's a much brighter day than yesterday, and it should be considerably warmer, too, which will be a relief. When the temps went back down over the weekend, my house cooled off considerably, and I've resisted kicking the heat back on, but have had to stay bundled up to be comfortable.
Supposed to get some rain today and tomorrow, but these don't look like rain clouds to me, at least not yet.
-
I hope the IDOL judges' comments will help Elliott stay in the contest. If he's eliminated, I won't call for any of the remaining three. I'll watch the show, but I won't vote any more.
-
Oh, my! LOST tonight picks up after those shocking events at the end of the last episode. Should be mesmerizing, and then INVASION has its season finale.
I read on the internet that with the probable cancellation of COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, ABC may now give INVASION another chance next year though probably not on Wednesday after LOST. If they move GREY'S ANATOMY to Monday (as is being speculated), LOST might go there with it.
-
Good morning, all! I'm now at the public library after a lovely breakfast with DR Ginny and her DH Richard, who has been one of my best friends since junior high school. He was a boy of few words then, but a fantastic percussionist and musician, and now he's a gentleman of few words, but with DR Ginny and me running our mouths at full pace, we tend to leave him in the dust.
Last night I had a lovely dinner with my friend Alan, his beautiful wife Liliane and their daughter Julie, and a lovely dinner it was: fettucine in an alfredo sauce with ham and peas, fresh radishes and tomatoes, and strawberry shortcake. Lots of wine, to boot.
I'm still sorry I missed the salsa and margaritas, DR Ginny! Perhaps next trip?
-
Wednesday morning greetings!
And now I'm at work after the lovely breakfast described above by DR Elmore. Must go get ready for the brownbag lunch that I throw each second Wednesday for folks from nonprofit organizations. Today's speaker is February's guest - back by popular demand - ME ;)
-
Today's sparkling breakfast was at
Java Johnny's (http://www.javajohnnys.com)

Good morning all. The Mother/Daughter dinner was a bit of a disappointment unfortunately. This was our 8th year and for the first time ever there was no dance floor, no deejay, no music of any kind... just a raffle for baskets that were donated by the troops.
When we brought in our donations for the baskets I assumed they were door prizes and each person would be given a ticket when she came in, but no, you had to pay for the raffle tickets. I am confused as to where the proceeds were going. This was the most expensive dinner yet and the food was terrible, cold and tasteless, some had burned entrees, others undercooked ones. The service was horrible and for entertainment we had a fashion show.
Since in years past we had arranged for each girl to receive a beanie baby animal, and the deejay always had leis and maracas and the girls always spent hours dancing and twirling on the dance floor there was a lot of grumbling.
Too bad. It is usually a highlight of the year.
-
According to dialidol.com, Taylor got the most phone-in votes last night, followed by Elliott, Katharine, and then Chris coming in last.
The text message votes supposedly will tell the story. It's going to be close, I think. Chris may be going home!
-
Vix Fam - sorry the evening was a disappointment - but at least you had each other, sometimes a position I truly envy.
Elmo and Gins!! I would have loved to be in your grand company - I would have guzzled a gallon of Java, while watching you eat... but I think I would have enjoyed the hilarity of the conversation.
I had such a good time with the Mirror Stage actors last night. Such a congenial lot they were/are. I look forward to tonight's rehearsal. We're going to block this very surreal script - in a way the director hopes will clarify some of the more opaque ambiguity. I just LOVE having playmates!!!
-
PS - first time I have ever used a Scottish accent... came off as something of a cross between Welsh and Russian, i think...
-
Fingers crossed for Mr Yamin tonight - I thought Taylor's GHETTO was wretched, but there you are....
It was BEYOND wretched.

I only managed 207 text-message votes for Elliott last night. For some reason, I wasted 40 minutes of voting time before I realized I NEEDED to be voting.

I think your dissatisfaction should be voiced to whatever organization oversees all the particpants.

Wasn't Compost on the last "Bob Newhart" TV show?
-
Two things won't crawl out of my subconscious and I can't stop singing them:
Stephen Foster's "Old Dog Trey"
Keeping house but clutching a copy of Life just to keep in touch . . .
I feel like the verse to "Fascinatin' Rhythm"!

Heaps!

Off to start cooking lunch.

Last night's "Idol" was a very mixed bag for me. I wasn't nearly as high as Randy was on the level of performances, although I agree Elliott did two of his all-time best vocals.
Chris continued his "Johnny One-Note" ways...and that's not to say I don't think he's good. He's better than good...the trouble is he's always delivering his songs in the same way...with the same intensity...with no distinction between power rock and ballad. And that has gotten EXTREMEly old for me.
Taylor...two horrendous performances, IMO. The first one seemed not only a joke, but a hideous self-caricature. There simply was too much song for Taylor to sustain his schtick, IMO.
Katherine: She's radiant, well-coifed, beautifully dressed...and she doesn't bring a memorable performance to the stage...ever. There was no problem with song choices...that last song should have been a knockout...instead, as Simon said, she overdid it. She hit a couple of notes that nearly gave me a seizure.
If Chris leaves, things brighten considerably for Elliott. If Kat leaves, it becomes a testosterone showdown next week.

A quick hello. I cut my morning walk short at the end of the block because I had so many things going through my head that I needed to get on paper that I though my head would explode. (Shades of David Cronenberg...) Maybe I'll walk later today -- although, usually, if I don't walk first thing, it doesn't happen.
Woke up early this morning after a terrible dream -- I actually tried to go back to sleep in hopes of resolving it with a happy ending, but no such luck. In my dream I lost two of my sweet dogs, Cocoa, a chocolate lab, and Katie, a white lab (both of whom, in reality, are now gone to doggie heaven). In the dream I was searching everywhere and couldn't find them -- and somehow it was my fault that they were lost. I woke up feeling SO sad.
Laters!

I'm up, I'm up. After resolving one issue, I must now resolve a bunch of issues unrelated to the one issue.
And, of course, congrats to TPunk as well (I've already stated them, but we cannot state them enough).
-
Ach I wish I could see ye lass... but the truth of it is I am on the wrong coast
You mean "w-r-l-l-l-l-l-l-ong coast", dinin ya, lass?

DRJENNIFER, if you have a tracking number, you can usually go to the website for the post office and find out where the package is.
Well I can see the progress it has made, but not exactly where it is. For this type of expresspost the next track would be delivery.
I called and they said they would refund me (because the absolute last day for guaranteed delivery was yesterday). She also said it will almost assuredly arrived today or tomorrow. And that with so much tracking references, it cannot really get lost.
The thing is if it were just a cd or movie that i wanted to watch i wouldn't care so much. But this is urgent for the person receiving the envelope.
I just really hope it arrives today. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As we were watching IDOL last night my sister and I were saying how happy we were that we cannot vote. It's much easier knowing that we can't, rather than sitting their dialing away for so long.
Although that said, Canadian Idol will start pretty soon after AI finishes!
-
And yes tonight is TAR. And for the first Wednesday in a while i will be watching at home (went to see little baby yesterday instead). Not sure if I will watch LOST first at 7pm (it comes on here at 7pm). Or maybe i'll tape it then and watch it at 9:30pm after IDOL. I find I really have to concentrate for LOST, and not sure if it's better to record it.

Who organized this debacle? Do different troops take turns?
I think your dissatisfaction should be voiced to whatever organization oversees all the particpants.
Actually it was organized by the GS Coordinator for our town, she has run the last two , both of which were wonderful. The catering hall we used the past three years was unavailable and so she chose this restaurant which we had used for several years running and it had been quite pleasant, so I cannot fault her for the bad food and service. I am considering a strongly worderd letter to the management of the restaurant however.
I understand that she was trying to do something "different" but I thought (as did many of the other mothers) that the "fashion show" was in addition to the regular music. Nobody was happy with that and Iam sure she is hearing plenty about that today.
The whole basket raffle thing has me completely perplexed however. The troops donated all the stuff so where was the money going?

Add some extra time if you record it so you catch the previews for next week.
The Hanso Foundation commercial was during the last half hour last week. But you can see it on the www.TheHansoFoundation.org website. (the website has been out there for a long time--I heard about it last Novemeber on a podcast. Nothing really informative there, as far as I can see.)
-
If I record it at 7pm (LOST) it does not go over.
What was the content of the commercial they showed? I found that site loaded quite slowly for me.
-
PS - first time I have ever used a Scottish accent... came off as something of a cross between Welsh and Russian, i think...
Just watch "The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson." He's Scottish. :)

Thanks to RP, DTM and Vixmom for the dream nixes!
What's even more alarming - and not a dream - is that I've run out of Trader Joe's apple slices (not quite dried and totally yummy -- and healthy) which, coupled sometimes with sesame pretzel bits, are my latest snack addiction. Haven't got time to make a TJ's run to get them -- and they're often out of them anyway.
Not one of life's tragedies, true - but to be apple-less leaves me no treat reward at the end of a hard day's writing. Sigh....

There really wasn't much content to the commercial other than to presen the foundation as a forward thinking organization that was working towards solving the problems of the world. There was a 1-877 number to call ( I guess for another clue?)
-

Or Scrooge McDuck in DUCK TAILS.

Re: the LOST thing.
Has anyone found a site that gives more information to what the other LOST stories might be. I'd heard that the extra content would give more information about some of the characters. But I don't really understand how this whole thing works yet.

I am home this afternoon. I had a root canal this morning, and I laughed (Oh yes, I laughed) when my co-workers said that I probably would not be back when it was finished. I was sure that I had a root canal before, but I guess not. OH MY GOSH!!! I feel like Dustin Hoffman after Larry Olivier got through doing his dental work! I took some pain pills and I thought I had better try and eat something so I wouldn't upset my stomach. Unfortunately, all the soup keeps dribbling out of the side of my mouth.

Did the dentist perhaps simultaneoulsy perform your hip replacement surgery?
-
I saw in the listings that LOST does go past the hour tonight, so if you record, better add a minute or two extra.
-
Oop, should have read to the end before I replied.
I hope The Kids Next Door will come over and pamper you
-
Did the dentist perhaps simultaneoulsy perform your hip replacement surgery?
I wish he had, then it would all be over with.
-
I have had two root canals in my life and both happened while I rehearsing for shows. The first was during A CHORUS LINE (the second time I did it), and the second was during FOREVER PLAID. In both cases, I had the surgeries in the morning, and I was at rehearsal that night. I really was surprised I wasn't as floored by them as other friends of mine had been when they had them.
-
Oh, boy, DR Jennifer, are you in for a treat with VERONICA MARS! Superb season ending episode, and I didn't get the murderer correct. At one point during the season, I was suspicious of this person, but I got sidetracked on something else and focused my attention elsewhere.
Let me say that there is one shock after another during the episode, so be prepared!
-
SCRUBS had a reasonably funny/silly episode. Still no official word that it's been renewed, but NBC would be very foolish to throw away one of the few decent comedies currently in production on ANY network.
-
I enjoyed BOSTON LEGAL, too. James Spader had a marvelous tour de force closing oration near the end that demonstrates again why Emmy voters keep selecting him for Best Actor Emmys (two in the past two years).
I missed not seeing Mark Valley much in this episode, but Parker Posey was a funny addition to the team.

Well, if someone else drove me to rehearsal, I probably could go, too. Sadly, I am not in a show anyway, so I can just sleep.

I then pulled out a movie I've never seen before. MAMMY starring Al Jolson. This was Jolson's fourth talkie, and the laserdisc transfer shows the film to be in very rough shape. Lots of scratches that last for entire reels and nirate damage to the image that runs down the center. The two-strip Technicolor sequence was only in black and white (though supposedly the Technicolor footage has been located now). but this is the film where Jolson introduced Irving Berlin's "Let Me Sing and I'm Happy" among other tunes. I have a little more to go to finish it, but it's nice seeing him in something other than THE JAZZ SINGER.
-
I have this to finish and then FALLEN ANGEL to finish as well.

DR TCB - I'm sorry you had to have a root canal today. After my first one, I said, "Never again!"
Thanks, Ginny! I told the dentist if he ever wants to schedule me for another root canal, he had better come up with a different name for it, because I would not show up

And this is unusual for you?
-
Hey Gang!
A little busy at work today. And meeting TPunk tonight going to City Center for the final Encores show: OF THEE I SING, starring ALIAS's own Victor Garber.
Don't know too much about the show except Gershwin, Gershwin, Kaufman, and Ryskind, which ain't a bad combo.
Tonight is a dress preview and they hand out what turns out are small, bastardized versions of what I do, sometimes chock full of mistakes because they get slapped together quickly. Though I'm not to blame, I fear it impugns my (hopefully) good work.
-
I just hauled 3 and 1/2 boxes full of law clerk applications materials to the Court of Appeals, which is two blocks to the north and one block to the west...last year they were only down 2 floors...but since our old, old, old building is being renovated and reconditioned we are spread out all over downtown.
I will take Supreme Courts boxes to them tomorrow...it is now my break time!
-
I wonder if DR Jason will ever return to these here parts.
-
Rodzinski, did you fill out that form that I sent to you the other week?
-
And this is unusual for you?
Usually, he does that trick with his nose.
-
MBarnum, I did manage to show TPunk the place where I believe you purchased your kurta.
-
Didn't fill that out yet, Mbarnum.
-
DearREaderLaura, what ever became of that cat that snuck into your house and stayed? Did your DearHusband ever notice the extra cat?
DR MBarnum, we haven't seen Scottie in a LONG time. My guess is that he was someone's pet and they are now keeping him inside.
However, there are a couple of others that walk right in and make themselves at home
-
The library time for me is up. I'm off to visit my brothers. Till tomorrow, au revoir.

Put your arms around me
And swear by stars above
You'll be mine forever

My day began well with a long beautiful hike with my Wednesday hiking group.
After breakfast/lunch I set out to do a grouping of errands in Medford, where MBarnum hails from. The second to last stop was at C.A.T.S. (Committed Alliance To Strays) where I picked up a volunteer application. The place is very clean & very nice. Between petting the cats I was told to use a disinfectant wash.
Of course I had to play with a few of the cats. There was one super sweet girl, Posey (see her at http://www.kittensandcats.org/cat_detail.asp?ID=74). Posey has a ton of long hair and needed a good brushing. Someone gave me a comb to use, I would have preferred a brush, and I combed away. The entire time Posey was nuzzling me, such a sweetie.
I’m not sure which combinations, Posey’s hair along with dust or whatever and/or the hand wash & the cleaning solution for the comb caused a major allergic reaction. My eyes began to swell & like an idiot I rubbed. My right eye just kept swelling & filling up with something that looked like it might bubble over. Thank goodness I always carry allergy drops. I used some there, pulled over to the side of the road for more, and used them again once I returned safely home. First thing I did after walking in the door was to wash my hands well & soak my eyes. The mess is slowly residing.
-
While I was cooking dinner I spilled a cup of almost boiling water, after splattering some of it on my hand. Now I’m sitting here keeping the two “hot” spots cool with ice.
-
Well the expresspost did not arrive. So i'm scrambling to try to figure something out. Not too happy about this. :(
-
Jane! Take care and don't do anything else tonight!
By the way, to answer your question from last night: The "E" stands for Ellis, my maiden name.

DR JENNIFER I feel your pain....this is unacceptable!
-
So many wonderful DR's doing so many interesting things!
TAR and AI both had satisfying conclusions this evening.....at least for me.
-
Happy Graduation Day for DR SANDRA. And may I say:
Underpants.
-
It is STILL raining ... still.....flash flood warnings and lots of WET ground! Whew....rain!
-
It is STILL raining ... still.....flash flood warnings and lots of WET ground! Whew....rain!
Any thunderstorms headed my way, DR JRand? I'm wondering whether to disconnect my computer before I go to bed.
-
Jennifer, good luck.
-
Congrats! DR Sandra!!!! We need photos!
-
DR ELMORE I received my Juan Florez CD today....and those tenor arias are certainly soaring!
I like it a LOT!!! I can't say that I will play it more than my Mario Frangoulis....but it certainly fills in a blank spot in my collection!
-
I'm having a real hard time at work right now, I'm not whining just saying I'm trying to figure out if it's time to take a chance and try something new, or take a few days, buck up and keep going. Not an easy decision
-
DRGINNY - no thunder & lightning....just lots of wet wet rain!
-
Today it was confirmed that, as a result of my promotion to Grants Specialist, I will not work regularly-scheduled evenings - just when I have programs or speaking engagements :D Also, 4 days out of 5, I will not be an information waitress for the general public, but the 5th day (alternating Fridays and Saturdays) will be all IW-ing. This all takes effect Memorial Day week.
-
DR JRand - I sent you a package today. I was in a state having walked away from the office when I sent it. Please be sure I sent you the right one. One was for my sister and the other for the playhouse. LOL, she'll love her birthday present if it says "To the Putnam County Playhouse".....
-
DR CILLALIZ with the moon where it is - there should be just one more day or so of irritations .. then things will even out.
Then the moon goes into Scorpio and ALL bets are off and ALL secrets will be made known!
-
I'm a cancer, does that make any difference?

-
DR Cillaliz - my thoughts are with you as you deal with the work stuff. Not easy, I know.
-
Thanks DRs Jane and Jrand.
The woman on the phone today (from the canada post) said i will get a refund. BUt that isn't enough.

I will let you know....I understand! 8)
Come September I will send you a copy of the program with your special thanks. I am sure your life will be complete then, having been mentioned in an actual program for THE PUTNAM COUNTY PLAYHOUSE! 8)
-
Dr Ginny - thanks and congrats! One of the biggest problems is there really isn't anywhere else I want to work here, but I don't want to leave either. LOL, I guess I need to start buying lottery tickets
-
I'm a cancer, does that make any difference?
No....no neglible difference. :D
-
Oy, I am trying to fix the "problem" online, and it's pretty funny. I'm on a certain site and it keeps telling me my address and other things are wrong. My city is D.D.O, but this site does not allow cities with periods in them! :)
-
Thanks DRs Jane and Jrand.

That's the truth! :-\

Well, not only will her life be complete, but her name will become very interesting to the development directors of all the other nearby community theater companies!
-
dRLaura & Sandra why have you both been so quiet on the subject? Details please.
DR Sandra is very humble. We have had a hard time getting her to even agree to go to the ceremony tomorrow.
-

It won't be complete, but it will be a GIANT step closer to being complete! There just aren't that many people who get a thanks in an official Putnam County Playhouse program!
-
Well, not only will her life be complete, but her name will become very interesting to the development directors of all the other nearby community theater companies!
Saying my life is complete sounds so....final....so I choose to say it's closer to being complete. Wonder if people will look and say "Who on earth is that???"
-
Just balanced my checkbook, to the penny, first try ;D
-
DR CILLA LIZ:
Are you staying stuck in the past because you're afraid of what might come next? Don't. A great opportunity awaits you, but you have to be the one to make the first move. The universe will rise to meet you.
Watch for the slightest opportunity that may point you in a different direction tomorrow...and remember the most eccentric person you may meet will turn out to be a conservative at heart.
-
Thanks for the Astrology DR JRand. I'm going to be out of the office most of the day tomorrow visiting jails. Plus I don't have to see the federal judge who is the source of the problem again for about 10 days. Maybe things will calm down by then
-
Well, not only will her life be complete, but her name will become very interesting to the development directors of all the other nearby community theater companies!
You got that right! ;D
-
...Wonder if people will look and say "Who on earth is that???"
And, "I wonder what she'd be willing to do for us?"

Ain't it the truth! Half the people that should be listed in Special Thanks and at least a third of the cast are usually left out! :P
Keep your eyes open tomorrow!
-
And, "I wonder what she'd be willing to do for us?"
Hmmm maybe that's a new direction....
-
And, "I wonder what she'd be willing to do for us?"
Actually around Greencastle, when our season ticket subscribers see a new name in the program, one they don't recognize, the major question is:
"Whose girlfriend is SHE?" ::)

Does that mean the homeless guy who gave me a hard time tonight, then called my boss "ignorant," is really a blessing in disguise?
Or, how 'bout the slightly creepy, in a John Malkovich sort of way, guy who requested 3 books out of storage and they were all about CHAINSAWS :o?
-
Congratulations from the land of Oz for DRs TPunk and Sandra.
Humble I like! I only went to my University graduation to please my parents. Fortunately when I was at School, graduation ceremonies were not held. Post graduation - the mail was good enough for me. Fortunately I was not using Canadian Express post as my agent.
-
Danise how far from Hillsborough and the fires are you?

It's all gonna make great testimony, DR GINNY! It will be your moment on COURT TV! ;D

LOL...I like a man who ties it all up in a nice package! ;D
-
Was the chainsaw guy wearing mascara?
-
DR LAURA - please let DRSANDRA know that it may not be her favorite thing to do....but she is walking the walk for ALL of us here at HHW - we are with her every step of the way.
We went to all the classes with her, we really need to have our moment in the spotlight!
-
Was the chainsaw guy wearing mascara?
Just on the right eye is my guess! :o
-
LOL...I like a man who ties it all up in a nice package! ;D
Oh the responses I could make!
-
Was the chainsaw guy wearing mascara?
Don't think so, DR Tomovoz. We haven't seen the mascara-wearing guy in quite a while. I did see the sombrero-wearing woman the other day, for the first time in ages.
-
More rain.....poor Blue has been inside most of the day....on the screened porch. She hates rain and storms.
-
While I was cooking dinner I spilled a cup of almost boiling water, after splattering some of it on my hand. Now I’m sitting here keeping the two “hot” spots cool with ice.
Jane, I hope you are okay.
-
But he was such a nice quiet man....we just thought he was interested in cutting down trees
-
Oh the responses I could make!
Hehehehehe. 8)
-
But he was such a nice quiet man....we just thought he was interested in cutting down trees
Yeah, that's what they all say!
-
Sombrero....wasn't that an Esther Williams movie?
How is the hand, DR JANE?
-
I am buying some lovely costume jewelry for the actress playing The Baroness in The Sound of Music.....I think I will make her shine and sparkle as much as possible....she is supposed to be RICH RICH RICH, and in all the productions I have seen she might have a pearl necklace and a diamond brooch....MY baroness will be dripping with diamonds, rubies, and pearls.....take that Georg Von Trapp!
-
Well I suppose I must be off...
-
DR Sandra is very humble. We have had a hard time getting her to even agree to go to the ceremony tomorrow.
DR Sandra, I will give you the same advice I gave Bryan when he didn’t want to attend his high school graduation. If you don’t go and you regret it later, you will always regret it. If you do go and it isn’t rewarding, you only lost a few hours of your time, made your family happy and you won’t regret having gone.

-
Jane - good advice for DR Sandra. I chose not to attend my Master's ceremony and have regretted it for 33 years.
-
TCB & JRand thanks. Fortunately my reflexes were in working order & I jumped away from most of the water VERY QUICKLY. They are just little burns & will be okay. Funny, as my hand begins to feel better I’m noticing another “heat” spot on my foot. Not a big deal.
-

Do you do astrology Jrand? I have done a bit of numerology....
-
DR Laura, please give Sandra my best wishes for her accomplishments and for her future endeavours...
I also extend the same wishes to TPunk!!
Congrats Ladies!
-
Jane - good advice for DR Sandra. I chose not to attend my Master's ceremony and have regretted it for 33 years.
Sandra is lucky to have family that wants to see her graduate. Keith wasn’t overly interested in attending his graduations (Bachelor & Masters) nor did we have the cost of admission. Most of all, his parents would not have been interested in attending. You can bet we were very interested when our boys graduated.
-
Danise how far from Hillsborough and the fires are you?
Jennifer, refunds for service don’t really cut it when the loss is far greater than the actual service.
Cillaliz, no wonder you cancelled your trip to San Francisco. Good vibes while you work through this. While I'm at it, good house selling vibes. :)
'night
-
Danise how far from Hillsborough and the fires are you?
Jane, I was also wondering if she was close to the fires.
-
Sandra is lucky to have family that wants to see her graduate.
Congrats to DR Sandra on her graduation!
Update -- I finally broke down and went to Trader Joe's to get some Granny Smith apple slices. No need to join AA (Apple-Eaters Anonymous) -- I got my fix.
-
Healing vibes, DR Jane!
-
Congratulations Sandra on the Graduation!! ;D
-
Here in lovely La Jolla. The clock says it's 8 pm but to me, it feels like 11 pm.
Let's see if this post works.
-
It worked. Now I have to go catch up. See you guys later.
-
Mail delivery is really weird. Usually when I get my confirmation from Amazon on Monday that my items have shipped, I get them on Wednesday.
This week, I got my confirmation on Sunday, and they didn't come yesterday or today! Weird, I say!
-
I finished MAMMY with Al Jolson when I turned the set back on. There were only about 15 minutes (if that) left. A fairly uneventful ending, but Al got to sing "Let Me Sing, and I'm Happy" once again. He sang it three times during the course of the movie.
-
Really enjoyed the ending of FALLEN ANGEL. I didn't guess the identity of the murderer, and I was disappointed in myself for not even coming close.
-
ALIAS, well, the best I can say is that we're one episode closer to it being over.
spoiler - - - - - - -
I wanted to feel a great joy at the reunion of Vaughn and Syndey, and I honestly felt nothing.
-
LOST -
Did anyone else jump out of his seat a few minutes into the show tonight. My heart almost stopped beating!
The rest was really interesting and confirmed some of my suspicions about the island.
-
I was under the mistaken impression that tonight was the season finale of INVASION, but it wasn't. There's still one episode left, and it couldn't get much more exciting!
Sure do hope this gets another season!
-
As for IDOL, I was disappointed but not especially surprised.
I was clearly thrilled with who landed among the top vote getters!
-
Congrats, Ginny! Sounds like a good deal for you!
-
Thanks for all your graduation messages to DR Sandra. She finally had her final final today, and she is recovering. I'll have her log on and read them. Of course there will be photos tomorrow.
-
Returned from OF THEE I SING, a goofy and fun bit of entertainment. The basic premise is to put their candidate for President over, a political party holds a contest for him to find a wife. He ends up falling for one of the event organizers, thus upsetting the girl who is chosen to be his wife. Much merriment ensues, not particularly biting political satire, but still fairly trenchant. Good tap dancing and fun staging. Probably the best and most completely staged of this year's ENCORES series.
-
Oh, yes, many congrats to Sandra the Student. Why, I remember when she was writing paper after paper. Now she has reached the end o' the line.
Not to be contrary, but I attended neither my undergrad nor graduate commencement exercises, and I have never regretted it. My schools were large though, and you just stood up when they said, 'College of Liberal Arts' or whatever. They never called out individual names. It wasn't personal enough for me to get excited about.

That's what it will be tomorrow. And she will sit with her friend in the business department.

I would love to have seen Victor Garber in this. He would have been perfect casting as Wintergreen.
Note: this was the first musical ever to be voted the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
-
Off to bed now.
Good night!
-
Congrats Ginny!
-
Will they be from your own collection?
What...that old paste? I should hope not.....
:D

As for IDOL, I was disappointed but not especially surprised.
I was clearly thrilled with who landed among the top vote getters!
I was very pleased with the outcome. The departed contestant had pretty much done all he could do to show his stuff while the others seem to have the capacity for more surprises.
I've been fairly certain the past five or six weeks that the guy who left tonight had nothing "new" to show us, and he's proven me right week after week.
It's also my belief that this outcome best serves my favorite contestant, whom no one I know ever would have believed would be in the final three. The evictee's votes will go toward one of the other contestants, most likely....and I think my favorite may benefit.
Put out the lights......the party's over......

Back from the Pasadena Playhouse, a quick trip to Du-Par's for pie, and then back home to meet up with Mr. Kevin Spirtas, who delivered the camera tapes so we can now edit his show for DVD, which I'll start in a week.
In the meantime, here is a photograph of the very sweet and very pretty Miss Jessica Rush, taken this very evening in the forecourt of the Pasadena Playhouse.
