Well, you've read the notes, you are now happening and with it, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're trying to fix their collective brains to no avail.
-
And the word of the day is: IMPRIMIS!
-
Congrats to Michael Shayne for becoming the Unseemly Trivia Contest high winner!
-
Congrats to Michael.
-
Jane in "The Paleface".
Mr Gable - nothing. I've only seen GWTW and it is not a film I have any time for at all. I can appreciate the technical "wonders" but I still don't like the film.
-
Jane Russell..."Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"
I'll have to think about Clark's movies.
-
This isn't the first time that I cannot come up with an anagram, this time for IMPRIMIS.
:-\
-
I never cared for Clark Gable. He always struck me as a smartass.
Jane Russell's talents were sizable.
-
It's almost the weekend!
Or, at least I'm getting a weekend this week, on Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday, we're planning on rescuing the grandlads from daycare and taking them to a movie, and probably lunch (or dinner).
Thursday, we may head up to Philly to take in the sights.
-
Thank you for the congrats. I love the challenge of the trivia question because they are so unique not like:
Name the playwright who wrote 3 plays one each in the 60's, 70's & 80's and all three were one night flops. (BK Knows the answer to this one)
BK goes beyond that type of question and when I cannot figure it out I get frustrated because I feel I should have been able to do it.
So bring them on!
-
TOD:
Jane Russell I don't remember any movie she did that I could call a favorite.
Although I do remember her tv commercials for bras and asking what a full figure woman was when I was a young lad. (The answer was. She has big boobs courtesy of my mother.)
Clark Gable was never a favorite of mine because he was always Clark Gable. He is another actor who although made many movies over the years I have only seen a handful of films.
San Franscisco, Gone With the Wind, Run Silent, Run Deep, It Happened One Night, Command Decision and It Started In Naples.
-
And I have been up since five dreaming about work. Trying to go back to sleep but going back to the same idiotic dream.
-
38 days and counting....
-
Congratulations to DR MICHAEL SHAYNE.
Liang must search the internet everyday looking for references to her father. Hello, potential DR LIANG!
-
Oh....well....
Clark Gable is a lot of fun. I like some comedies he did in the late 50's including:
TEACHER'S PET with Miss Doris Day
BUT NOT FOR ME with Miss Carroll Baker and Miss Lilli Palmer
And of course his MGM output.....TEST PILOT, THE HUCKSTERS, RED DUST, and MANHATTAN MELODRAMA
For those who may know: SIX TALL MEN was playing at Grauman's Chinese Theatre when Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz stole John Wayne's footprints.
-
Jane Russell...
SON OF PALEFACE with Bob Hope...(because it also has Roy Rogers in it)
HIS KIND OF WOMAN (singing "Five Little Miles from San Berdoo") and her scenes with Vincent Price
Her musical numbers in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES - "Two Little Girls from Little Rock", "Ain't There Anyone Here for Love", and "When Love Goes Wrong."
-
DR TOMovOZ mentioned TRAPEZE last night. I watched it on TCM last month and taped it.
I saw it on television MANY years ago....strange movie. The more I see of Mr. Burt Lancaster in his regular films (and Mr Kirk Douglas, too) the less I understand their contemporary appeal.
-
Re yesterday's comedy team of Yin and Yang: I, for one, thought it quite humorous. Sorry I didn't pass that on, BK; like you, I had quite a busy day, not without certain unpleasantness. Must dash--just wanted you to have some feedback on Y & Y.
-
I really DO love GONE WITH THE WIND, not just for its technical acheivements, but for its strength of characters, well-written screenplay, impressive score and two (or four) towering performances, including Mr. Gable's.
Still, I have to say that my favorite Gable pictures are:
THE MISFITS
TEACHER'S PET
SAN FRANCISCO
MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY
IDIOT'S DELIGHT
As far as Ms. Russell is concerned, the two Anita Loos musicals are fun;
GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES
GENTLEMEN MARRY BRUNETTES (is its Loos?)
THE FRENCH LINE
I'm not inordinately fond of THE OUTLAW, but, oh, what a gay subtext!
Fondly, from my childhood, I remember the Million Dollar Movie showing THE FUZZY PINK NIGHTGOWN. . .(maybe I just like the title so much that I cannot forget it).
-
. . .and taking that page again from DR MattH - I'm transferring HAWAII (the L-O-N-G cut) and YENTL to dvd-r today. ;D
Yesterday, I transferred Joe Gage's "Working Man" Trilogy to dvd-r :-X
-
Just stopping by to say good morning...that is all
-
Notes from last night's northwest regional musical theater auditions:
Bizarre pair of "most frequently performed" shows: Last night the bulk of auditioners did tunes from either Last 5 Years (predictable) or.... (are you ready?).....Oliver! In fact, more people did things from Oliver! than any other show. Weird.
Other unusual repeats: Several people did Spark of Creation, but thankfully all of them had the score in C, which is the one I'm most used to. And one girl went a little starry-eyed when, after she handed me Lion Tamer, I told her I knew the guy who produced Kristen's version.
What were they thinking department: One guy did a tune from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode, a tune with such an illogical harmonic structure and tuneless shape that he basically self-destructed. One woman did a song from that other Reefer Madness ::) and I don't mind telling you it fell completely flat. I of course let all the theater companies know about Oregon's "homegrown" version of Reefer. ;D
Last night's "confound the accompanist" trend: copies with the bass clef of each page's final system lopped off. That's fine if it's a tune everyone knows, or if there are chord symbols above, but when it's something by La Chuisa I've never heard of (sans chord symbols), which has all sorts of "modern" chords ;D, I don't know how they expect me to intuit what the correct left hand notes are.
-
Just stopping by to say good morning...that is all
yeah, what she said...
-
I'm up, I'm up, but am going to try to get another hour's sleep momentarily.
I, too, saw The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown numerous times on the Million Dollar Movie. Don't remember much of it, though. As to Mr. Gable, I don't know a lot of his films so hence the topic. I do like him in Teacher's Pet, The Misfits, and a few others I've seen - wouldn't say he's my favorite. And for some reason, It Happened One Night has never really done it for me.
-
Good morning, all! It's a lazy, rainy day for sleeping in so I did. Since rising, however, I've received an invite from Mr Tom Jones to THE FANTASTICKS on Sunday, percussion requests from Stephen Cole concerning NIGHT OF THE HUNTER which will play the New York Musical Theatre Festival, an invite to a reading tonight of THE TRAGIC AND HORRIBLE LIFE OF THE SINGING NUN, and a call from a friend who's in town this week.
I am now going to the NYPL Theatre Collection for some rollicking research and good times.
TOD:
Clark Gable GWTW
TEACHER'S PET
IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT
SAN FRANCISCO
Jane Russell GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES
THE PALEFACE
THE SON OF PALEFACE
-
Good morning!
Overcast here, but not especially cool. Rain is forecast for later today, and with the skies, so cloudy, I suspect the weathermen have it right.
-
Glad to hear about your DVD-R transfers, DR td. I'm slowly building up a bookcase full of them. Looks like lots of films I enjoy watching repeatedly just aren't showing up on upcoming release lists.
-
I don't know why I didn't mention it yesterday, but I found the classic comedy of Ying and Yang to be most enjoyable...and it gave me a very good laugh (as did grand-daughters letter regarding it! ) :D
-
I am hot and cold on Gable. I think he's masterful in GONE WITH THE WIND, MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, and those macho movies like RED DUST, TEST PILOT, and BOOM TOWN.
My favorite is SAN FRANCISCO. And the DVD has been sitting out ready to play for weeks. I wish I hadn't watched the videotape of it only two months ago. I'm just not ready to get back to it again so soon. But it is my favorite of his movies.
-
TOD:
Clark Gable:
Night Nurse (1931)
The King and Four Queens (1955)
Band of Angels (1956)
Jane Russell:
Gentlemen Prefer Blonds (1953)
Foxfire (1955)
-
As for Jane Russell, I think she is much less talented than others of her era. I did enjoy her in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES but disliked her intensely in GENTLEMEN MARRY BRUNETTES (where she inherited the dimwit role from Marilyn in BLONDES though not playing the same character. She just isn't talented enough to pull off playing an airhead.)
I liked her in SON OF PALEFACE more than in the original THE PALEFACE. And I liked FOXFIRE, too, though it's been many years since I saw it.
I have to admit I haven't seen all of her films so there may be some gems out there I haven't gotten to. The latest Warners Noir box has a Mitchum-Russell film in it I'm looking forward to seeing, but I have'nt opened the set yet. Waiting to finish the MOTOs before I get to it.
-
Page Two Grumpy Dance!!!
-
Looking forward to enjoying FORBIDDEN PLANET again this afternoon. Tonight will be MR. AND MRS. SMITH before a new episode of RESCUE ME comes on.
-
Guess I'll head down now and do a bit of reading before beginning lunch preparation.
WBBL.
-
Yes, Gable is wonderful in "Band of Angels". Ditto in "Soldier of Fortune", "The Tall Men," "Run Silent, Run Deep."
-
Jane Russell's "Dorothy" in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" is a classic comedy performance.
I think she was typically miscast due to her physical attributes. She had a way with a line....and if it was the right line, it would lay waste all pretenders.
I'm rather sorry that her last work of mass exposure was the work she did for cross-your-heart bras.
-
Doesn't elmore have a show to start orchestrating?
Is Stephen Cole now the composer of Night Of The Hunter? Who is watching out for Claibe, who is not here to say anything?
-
Favourite Jane Russell movie has to be HIS KIND OF WOMAN with Bob Mitchum, an hilarious Vincent Price as a ham actor, and the a malevolent Raymond Burr.
Favourite Gable: I like Gable but for a man who was considered The King of Hollywood, it's rather amazing how few truly great films he did. He's terrific in GONE WITH THE WIND, a very good film, no matter how many people now want to turn a politically correct nose up at it. He's wonderful in IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT, I like him with Sophia Loren in IT STARTED IN NAPLES. I like him in ACROSS THE WIDE MISSOURI. I actually like him in most things I see him in, but I don't find most of the movies those that I want to see over and over again.
-
Visited my friend Michael in the hospital yesterday, where his recovery from his stroke is going very well.
-
Tuesday greetings!
TOD - Nothing to add. Aside from Gone with the Wind (which I prefer in book form), I could not think of a single film for either person until other DRs started mentioning them.
-
Congrats to Michael Shayne on being the Trivia high winner.
-
Continued vibes to vixmom.
-
Saw a show at the fringe last night, or at least the first act of one. No problem with the show, really, but the seats were so cramped and the rows so close together than I was in physical pain even though I was on the aisle.
-
So, Larry, if you're going to The Fantasticks on Sunday will you still be coming to Fred and Skip's?
-
I see the show times for THE FANTASTICKS for this Sunday are 3:30 and 7:30, so that means the matinee (which vixmom will be attending) will be over about 5:45.
Larry, are you seeing the matinee or evening performance on Sunday?
-
I very much enjoyed yesterday's Yin and Yang comedy routine. I fell off my chair laughing. I was reminded of another comedy excerpt that BK posted once, but I can't get the search feature to work.
-
I saw Yin & Yang in concert once. I dunno. Did nothing for me. I guess they lost something in translation. Oh, maybe that was the problem...it wasn't translated; the show was in its original Chinese. Though their famous Rickety Rickshaw bit was fairly amusing, because it was mostly no words. How did Yang get his right leg to do that, anyway?
-
I so envy you, Pogue. To have seen them in CONCERT! I'm now obsessed with them and am hoping to get a video of one of their routines - if not, an audio tape.
-
RE: Ms. Wang's displeasure at lack of reader comments.
I'm glad she was so solicitous of BK's feelings about not having the routine mentioned.
She should be aware that many folks believe that if they have nothing positive to say about something, they feel they should say nothing at all.
Chastising them for not commenting upon something about which they had nothing to say isn't going to change how they feel...except to anger them, perhaps.
I, personally, do not get a charge out of comedy routines, per se. I enjoy a good act. But when it's over, I'm done with it.
That's me.
-
. . .
Yesterday, I transferred Joe Gage's "Working Man" Trilogy to dvd-r :-X
And the reason you didn't include the trilogy as part of your Desert Island DVD list is because...????
(Hey, at least I included KCTC!!!)
-
To all who commented favorably on the comedy team of Yin and Yang, I am most appreciative. I am LiangWang, granddaughter of Yang Wang, and I'm very happy that a person known as bk discovered my father and his wonderful partner, P. Yin. Rickety Rickshaw was one of my father's favorites.
-
BK, I think Yin and Yang did the Rickety Rickshaw bit on Sullivan once. When Yang did his leg bit the audience howled with laughter. I still have no idea how he did that with his leg. Man, it looked like it hurt.
-
So, Larry, if you're going to The Fantasticks on Sunday will you still be coming to Fred and Skip's?
Yep!
-

Matinee.
-
The Rod Man is back from Ohio.
Sorry I can't make the gig tonight but if you plan any other performances let us know and perhaps we can see you.
BTW, are you and TPunk going to Fred and Skip's on Sunday?
-
Hiya Ben!
No problem-o. Yes, I am back from Ohio. We had tough times on our flight out there, sitting on the runway for 3 hrs. And rough times on the way back, a sick passenger, and a two-hour wait for our luggage. But the time in Ohio itself was fun. Weather was very pleasant. Nieces and nephews kept me busy. Friend's wedding in Bowling Green was a hoot.
Yes, we do plan on attending FJL's event.
-
Back from San Francisco where I helped DD move into her new apartment. While there I visited a small park in Chinatown which features a statue of Yin and Yang. I threw a penny over my shoulder into the open mouth of Yang, then twirled around three times while singing "Have a Goldstone, Mr. Eggroll" - a local custom. They say that if you do this during a full moon, you will have a lucky year. There was no full moon, but what the heck.
-
Tonight, the gig. It is weird to play without having had a rehearsal for several days, so I hope we can recapture our magic.
-
The Yin and Yang footage I have seen was amusing. They were like Frick and Frack, except not on ice.
-
I'M PRIM, IS something Miss Muffett might say.
-
BK, I think Yin and Yang did the Rickety Rickshaw bit on Sullivan once. When Yang did his leg bit the audience howled with laughter. I still have no idea how he did that with his leg. Man, it looked like it hurt.
My understanding is that the segment was censored in conservative Oregon...so that routine is only legend in these here parts.
-
Forgot to say that THE MISFITS is my favorite Gable film. As for Miss Russell, GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES, But one I've never seen that I'd like to is THE REVOLT OF MAMIE STOVER.
And a big HHW Welcome to new Dear Reader LianWang! (BTW - "New Dear Reader LianWang" is a nice tongue twister if you say it quickly 5 times.)
-
New Dear Reader LianWang
New Dear Reader LianWang
New Dear Reader LianWang
New Dear Reader LianWang
New Dear Reader WianLang—oops!
I couldn't even TYPE it five times.

Hey Rodzinksi, if you happen to be of the mindset, you could call me on your cell phone during the concert and let me listen to some of it...after all I am the biggest west coast fan of your musical group.
-
Yin once wrote a very esoteric piece in the Theatre Arts Magazine back in the sixties about the ancient Chinese dramatic influences on modern Chinese comedy. It was entitled, I believe, " Noh Comedy".
-

My DH did that once so I could hear his shape-note group sing back-up for Alison Kraus.
-
Will do, MBarnum. A telephone simulcast!
I usually start the song "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" with a bit where I pretend to be talking on the phone. Maybe I'll just actually dial!
-
That's England Dan and John Ford Coley for you '70s aficionados.
-

That was when Theatre Arts was doing an alternating viewpoints series, and of course Yang had to follow up the next month with "Noh Joke."
-
Really enjoyed FORBIDDEN PLANET, but the movie is DEFINITELY in need of a remastering. Maybe I hadn't noticed before, but there is a fair amount of speckling and dirt on the DVD transfer we have now, and some scenes definitely look digital instead of film-like.
The new version will HAVE to be an improvement.
-
There's Noh Comedy like Loh Comedy.
Yoh! John Loh. Do some standup already.
(Can't find Yin and Yang listed anywhere in the Google community...except yesterday's column)
Must be that rare esoterica like the Meltz lyrics. You can only find it here.
-
Next came MR. MOTO TAKES A CHANCE. It looked very good with great grayscale imagery, sharp focus, and great contrast. Definitely the best of the three MOTOs I've seen thus far picture-wise.
The story again wasn't much of a mystery. I had it in my mind these were mysteries on the order of the CHANs, but my memory has proved to be faulty in that regard. Apart from the first, the next two were definitely not mysteries in the classic sense.
I know MR. MOTO'S GAMBLE (not in this box) will be a mystery since it was originally meant to be a CHAN picture but was switched to MOTO when Warner Oland died. As for the others, I'll have to see for myself.
-
This is the only site on which to find true esoterica.
And it's Liang Wang, not Lian Wang. Lian Wang was a Chinese herbalist and pornographer.
-
When the MOTO movie finished, I watched the Peter Lorre documentary on the DVD. Not a happy man for much of his life, but he did do some wonderful films. Again, the documentary could have been three or four times the length.
-

I have cued up on the DVR MR. BELEVEDERE GOES TO COLLEGE. This morning, the Fox Movie Channel showed both sequels to SITTING PRETTY - this one and MR. BELEVEDERE RINGS THE BELL (about an old folks home). I plan to burn DVD-Rs for both of these films.
They haven't showed SITTING PRETTY in months, and I need that one, too, to complete the set. Can't believe Fox hasn't released all of these in a set.
-
You got a Moto photo?
Not on me, no. ::)
-
Well tonight is the beginning of the 2008 Presidential Campaign for me.
Oh they've already been here trolling county fairs and shaking hands, but I'm joining in on the meet in someone's living room thing tonight. It's really ridiculous that we have to hear campaigning for over 2 years before the election, but that's the price of having the caucuses be first in the nation and it's sort of cool in its own way.
Not trying to get political, just explaining one of the bizarre things about being from Iowa. It's sort of a game to see how many of them you can see, but the calls and ads start WAY too soon. By the time the caucuses hit we've been inundated for months and months and months and the real campaigning hasn't even started yet. I'll never forget New Year's Eve 2003/2004 You could go to the Sioux City Elks Club and dance with John Kerry....lol... it's almost pathetic.
Anyway, tonight it's Joe Biden (being a democrat, I don't get the invited to the Republican soirees, but that's ok with me).
-
You got a Moto photo?
Whoops, Mister Moto, I'm a coffee pot
(a Manhattan Transfer reference!)
-
Well tonight is the beginning of the 2008 Presidential Campaign for me.
It's the END of the campaign that gets intense here in Ohio, which I heard described not long ago as "the purplest of purple states." November in a swing state, with lots of electoral votes, means that those presidential candidates spend a lot of time and media money here. One of my favorite Jim Borgman editorial cartoons from 2004 shows a woman on the phone saying, "I'd love to go out for pancakes with you, Mr. Kerry, but Dick Cheney is out mowing my lawn and John Edwards is on his way over to give me a foot massage."
-
That's England Dan and John Ford Coley for you '70s aficionados.
England Dan being Dan Seals, who later had a respectable solo country career. Brother to Jim Seals, whose on-stage and recording partner was (is?) Dash Crofts.
-
OMG new DR LIANG WANG.....I didn't realize you were a grandaughter of the famous comic.
I only know you by your married name Liang Wang Chung
-
Best of performance vibes to DR RODZINSKI and his band this evening!
-
More TKAM rehearsal.....and no we haven't.
-
Ying and Yang - the routine I like the most....I think they did it on the Hollywood Palace when Anna May Wong was hosting....was that one called Waiter, There's a Bishu in my Pagoda. It was probably censored in Oregon as well.
-
Well tonight is the beginning of the 2008 Presidential Campaign for me....Anyway, tonight it's Joe Biden (being a democrat, I don't get the invited to the Republican soirees, but that's ok with me).

DR JMK - for the SOUND OF MUSIC audiitions we had two high school kids (a boy and girl) do the ENTIRE love duet from MOULIN ROUGE (a collection of love song snippets) acapella....about 7 minutes of song - and it wasn't the girl's audition...she sang again by herself later....
-
Off to rehearsal
-
Off to clean the living room, do some reading and then back with either the Clifton Webb comedy or MR. AND MRS. SMITH. Haven't decided yet.
WBBL.

Have you ever had a bishu in your pagoda?
And didn't the duo break up for awhile when Yang joined a Buddhist monastary....

Welcome new Dear Reader LiangWang! ;D

Yes, the most visible members of the Ba'hai faith. Seals and Crofts, whose "Summer Breeze" we have been known to make our own.
-
DR Rodzinski - I'm glad to hear that you and DR TPunk had a nice visit to Ohio, but sorry to hear that you had difficulties getting here and back again.
DR Ginny, do you want to get that info for DROWSY CHAPERONE to me so I can take care of your request?
-
Oh course, what many readers missed in Yin and Yang's dueling articles in Theatre Arts was that Noh is a form of Japanese Theatre, not Chinese, and they were slyly commenting on how Occidentals will confuse any Asian for another. These guys were not only esoteric, but also highly satiric.
A few years later, of course, Yin wrote another artice for Films and Filming about Hollywood's propensity for casting Chinese actors as Japanese in WWII movies. I believe the article was called, "Keye Luke, Which Way Are Those Feet Bound?"
-
Yin and Yang never broke up their act. I'm fairly certain you're confusing them with another Chinese comedy team, Ah and So.
-
Has everyone heard about the Dell Laptop Battery recall? Turns out they can burst into flames...no kidding. Anyway, if you have a Dell Laptop you can go to this (https://www.dellbatteryprogram.com/) website and find out if your battery is recalled and order a new one free
-
Of course my battery was recalled....you can still use the lap top, you just have to use the AC cord and take the battery out
-
DR Rodzinski, how is your diction on "I'd Really love to see you tonight"s - I'm not talking about movin' in -?
One of the great misheard lyrics.
-
In today's mail: The long-awaited, I-thought-doomsday-would-get-here-first DVD of Hitchcock's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."
Also, the LP of "The Belstone Fox" with original score by Laurie ("First Men on the Moon") Johnson.
Life is good.
When can life suck? When a parent (or someone else) has given a man a woman's name...or a woman a man's name.

The event tonight was fine.. the best part of it was the wonderful appetizers. My favorite was individual asparagus spears partially wrapped in puffed pastry. They tasted really buttery.

Page 5 - Do Yin and Yang have a dance routine for us?

That's what the Una-bomber used to say!

Yeah, he went to The University of Michigan, too! (I was so embarrassed when that was revealed)
-
Yin and Yang had a dance routine called One From Column A and One From Column B. And Yang incorporated that amazing leg thing he used to do. How did he do that???!!!
-
Welcome jhvw!! [/size] I’m sorry I wasn’t here to welcome you sooner. I look forward to meeting you in October along with Ginny’s DH Richard.
-
Yeah, he went to The University of Michigan, too! (I was so embarrassed when that was revealed)
That's okay, Ted Bundy went to my high school.
-
I can't believe it, I actually have an office day tomorrow and possibly Thurs and Fri.....That means for the first time in weeks I won't be in the court room or getting ready to immediately go to the courtroomand can catch up on all the stuff that has moved farther down the priority list. I love it when I have days like that.
-
Thanks for the welcome Jane. New York should be a blast.
Cilla, I didn't know you spent so much time in the courtroom. While you're happy to be back at the office I'm wishing I could get out of it. The life of a computer graphics operator at a tv station becomes tiresome. I need to get out and actually do something while on the clock.
-
DH Richard and I are now the proud owners of 2 tickets for the October 3 preview performance of A Chorus Line. It's one of our favorite shows.
-
Hi, DR jhvw! Are you a computer guy? Our son, who's just a couple years younger than you, is a computer science major at The University of Cincinnati.
-
DR Jane - we haven't seen you around here for a while. Everything OK?
-
Yes I am one of those computer guys. I'm studying computer forensics at the moment, but not sure if it's the right career path for me. Until I graduate I'm just sticking with this job. Not too much fun anymore but it pays the bills. After spending 6 years working in front of one I'm starting to wonder if I want to do something different...what I don't know
-
I have finished my stuff on The Brain. David has his two things, not more than five pages, and then we'll have our rehearsal script - I'm sure there will be more changes to come, but it's quite a bit more focused and better than it was at our reading.
-
Ginny- Thanks for asking, all is very well. We spent the weekend in Portland with Bryan & had a great time.

I was hoping it was something fun like that!
-
MusicGuy-I’m glad you enjoy my avatar. It was taken at the Santa Monica Pier when Keith and I were 17.
-
We found a great novelty pet store in Portland & purchased loads of puppy toys.
Keith made ice cream tonight & I have a mess to clean up-sorry I can’t stay and chat more.
‘night.

The info has been forwarded to The Star!
I'm back from a reading. with the cast for the Festival, of THE TRAGIC & HORRIBLE LIFE OF THE SINGING NUN. I think the cast will be a hoot and I love the show. I've now heard all the songs that are not on the demo, and some of them are quite wonderful. There is one song to be written for Sister Helen Lawson in Act Two, but everything else seems to be in good shape.
-
Before I leave, our puppy can now see & is beginning to hear. I can't wait to know which one will be ours.
-
The info has been forwarded to The Star!
So, now, DH Richard and I are booked for A Chorus Line on Tuesday, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie on Wednesday, and The Drowsy Chaperone on Thursday. I can't wait!

WOW! That sounds great. I want to see one or two more shows. I'd really love to see Cynthia Nixon in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie....we'll have to talk about it
-
DR Jane, can't wait to see photos of the puppy when you know which one is yours!
-
jhvw, on an average week, I'm in court at least three or four times. Sometimes it's a five minute hearing and sometimes it's several hours of a contested hearing. I've had a lot of contested hearings lately and have been in court every day. That means lots of writing motions and briefs before the hearings. When I'm doing that I have to put the things without immediate deadlines on the back burner. I'll be glad to get back to them.

Hoping to add The Fantasticks, probably Friday or Saturday night.

We have had three major thunderstorms moved through here from dusk until now. Right now, the third one just knocked my power off for a few minutes. (Thank goodness for laptops with battery backup!)
I hope I won't have to mow again THIS weekend. Not fair!
-
TOnight, I watched MR. BELVEDERE GOES TO COLLEGE and burned a DVD-R of it. Nice seeing it again even if it doesn't come close to the hilarity of SITTING PRETTY.
-
When I finished with it, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY was showing on HBO-HD. I've watched the standard definition DVD a few times, but I took the opportunity of watching the HD version. The colors popped, but there wasn't a HUGE difference in quality from my upconverted DVD and the HD version playing on HBO tonight.
-
RESCUE ME had a "getting back to normal" episode with the guys in the fire house. So much has been topsy-turvy with them in the past weeks, seems like things were settling down for them tonight. Of course, with only two episodes left in the season, there's bound to be major trouble ahead in the next two weeks.
-
Wow - two of my favorite guys online!
-
I'll dance to that!!
-
TOD - haven't read today's posts yet - but I bet someone else musta put on their list GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES...
-
I had a mad dash into Seattle to ransack my nephew's room, to find his certified copy of his birth certificate, and then dash over to FedEx to overnight it to Simi Valley. Mission accomplished.
-
I'm guessing the Yin/Yang skit just didn't translate well or something. Our own answer to Yin and Yang, the legendary and immortal Abbott and Costello, did a much funnier skit, Who's On First. Although, I wonder if that would translate well into Chinese??? I guess you had to be there....
-
Finally saw The Cider House Rules on video last night. Quite a picture! i could see it again!
hello, Cil! And good night to all and sundried.
-
Almost midnight here. The thunder and lightning have mercifully stopped.
And I'm off to bed.
Good night!
-
Night Penny and everyone else
-
Ah So....that's the guys....yup.
-
Nice weather here....
Chief of staff goes into the oval office. Says to President Bush:
"Sir, we just got word that three Brazilian soldiers were killed in Iraq this morning."
The President is silent for a moment, the puts his head in his hands. Everyone in the room gets quiet, too.
Then the President says: "Tell me again - how many is a Brazilian?"
-
DR GINNY - it sounds perfect!!! Pick up all the Playbills from the floor that you can for needy bald people in Indiana.
-
"Let America come
I've opened my doors.
America, come
I've opened my drawers."
Who says the musical is dead? I am using this as my next audition song.
-
Of course my avatar (soon to be changed) has been inaccurate for a couple of months.
Mr Eric Lindros is now a member of the Dallas Stars!
-
And it's Richard Dix night on TCM.
-
A Dick Dix film festival and I am missing it!?

Tonight I was a proud participant in a concert held someplace in New York City..I was a prop that was put to use during a wonderful rendition of a famous 1970s song sung by that popular crooner Tom Nondorf!
It quite noisy in the background and so it was difficult for me to hear the song very well. I think there may have been a riot or something breaking out during the performance and no doubt many women's unmentionables were being tossed on stage...or else there was just a lot of static on the telephone line!
-
That's pretty cool, MBarnum!! I've done that a couple of times, for fun. And one time, my niece and I went to a Dixie Chicks concert (it was fabulous) and I recorded a bit of the concert on a message to myself. When I got home and listened to it, it was quite distorted. ::)
