Well, you've read the notes, the notes had you dreaming of food, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're dreaming of food and thinking about eating themselves.
-
And the word of the day is: TELEGENIC!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
I guess we're doing that little session in a week - budget was just approved.
-
Congrats on the new gig, BK!
-
Happy birthday S Woody.
-
Was Tele Genic that guy who had a #1 hit with a dreadful rendition of "if"? Perhaps he was a Teletubby.

Stayed home today. Major sinus headache. Slept most of the day.
Have been up a few hours. Ate a nice dinner. Watched the newest edition of "Project Runway 3" -- got a few really good laughs, which I enjoyed.
Time now to put it all back to bed and try to make a go of it tomorrow.
Headache has subsided, but remnants are still there back behind my eyes.
Sigh.
Happy birthday to anyone I've missed.
Vibes to anyone who may be needing them.
Congratuatlions to all who rate them.
Best wishes to everyone else.

Hey, Tom!
Hey, George!
Happy Birthday, S. Woody!

A Very Happy Birthday to S. Woody White!! ;D

Cars. I'm not that interested. I guess my favourite is probably the MG. TC - British Racing Green.
I know nothing about the mechanical matters involved in automobiles and I do not look after my car very well. I don't even bother cleaning it very often.

Hello Ron & George.

Hi Ron! ~~~Feel Better Vibes to you!!~~~
-
Hello, Tomovoz!
-
I'm just listening to a compilation of "songs about the moon" (named for the Paul Simon song). Currently playing is Mr Jimmy Webb singing "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
Who cares? But it's a post.
-
Coincidence - given the tastes of the Birthday boy.
Listening is now Mike Oldfield's "Moonlight Shadow"
-
I'll have to think about the Topic of the Day at a later time. I'm going to bed soon because after work tomorrow at approximately 6:00 PM, my sister and I are going to look at condominiums! There's a place in Tumwater (just on the other side of I-5 where I live, and much closer to where I work) that has two condos for sale and I might buy one! I'll be a home owner! I'll be responsible for everything! I'll have to pay taxes!! I looked around at the outside of the place last year and it's not too bad. The pictures on the on-line listing are very nice. I think one is just an upstairs unit and the other is a townhouse with an upstairs bedroom loft. The place is really the perfect location for me...literally, less than a mile from where I work. I could walk to work all the time (which I would like to do)! ;D
-
But I have no idea about the money part of it. My sister said that she'd help me with the down-payment because our parents gave her the lot to build the house that she now lives in and they no longer have anything for me. ::) She's probably going to get some kind of home equity loan just for that and then she can repay it from selling the house that I'm renting from her right now...which I don't want to buy. So, all I have to do is find out exactly what my sister will be able give me, how much the units are and then get a loan! Then I'll never be able to use the 1040EZ tax form again...that's the part I dread the most. ;) I've never done anything other than the 1040EZ. I hope it's not too hard. :-\
-
I just turned 40 a few months ago and I guess I finally have to start growing up. Darn. :P
;)
-
Well, I'm off to bed. Have a good evening, Tom!
-
'nite George.

Aww, VixMom, I think the card I mailed you will be late. I thought your B-day was later in the week.
I was teary eyed just reading about the 911 tapes. I had to stop or I would have burst into full blown tears at work. I still don't understamd the mind set that could do something so horrible.
-
I dreamed that I went to NYC and got a job.
In another dream, I was on one of the reality shows and I was having such a good time, I didn't want it end.
-
I bought my new pillow last night and slept so much better!
-
Good morning DRs Danise and Ben

and Goodnight.

Almost at Page 2 at 7:40 in the morning. Good work morning crew!

And the word of the day is: TELEGENIC!
After his daring move, letting a bit of LEG ENTICE the viewers, it was decided by general concensus that former President Richard Nixon was TELEGENIC after all!

And here we are at Page 2!

And a happy birthday to Mr. Woody White. We are the same age! 1953 was a good year.
-
I don't have a car. I haven't had one since 1980 when I moved to New York. I couldn't imagine owning a car again. We usually rent a car once a year (or less) when we go back to Minnesota. If we moved to a new location I guess we would have to have a car but I would be one of those annoying nerds who insisted on a small, energy efficient car which got high, high mileage (perhaps a hybrid).
-
And a happy birthday to Mr. Woody White. We are the same age! 1953 was a good year.
Was it? I don't remember that much of it.

Although I wasn't downtown (near the World Trade Center) I was close enough to see the Towers burning and I have no desire to hear ANYONE's 911 calls. Not to pass judgement (oh, hell, I'll do it anyway), I think it's gruesome. I also don't need to see Oliver Stone's movie. I don't care if it's the best movie ever made. I lived through the time. I can't imagine going through it again on celluloid. I know there is great interest outside of New York (and probably in New York) about the events, especially with the 5 year anniversary looming large but I will observe it in my own, quiet, way.

Re: 1953 - so I'm told from others who would have better memories of that time ;)
-
The release of the 911 tapes bothers me. I can't help feeling that there are privacy issues here, that the families and friends of those who made the calls are now having to endure the event in an even more public way than they had to endure it before. Now, complete strangers are listening to their loved ones final moments. Everything is being exposed, exploited. It's just wrong.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY S. WOODY!
Anyone else here addicted to myspace.com?
Anyone else here addicted to youtube.com? Last night I watched the gorgeous Marin Mazzie performing "Back to Before" in a concert setting as well as a clip of Bernadette Peters performing "I'm Flying" on THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW. . .

Since I am not a driver, it's a little silly for me to be fantasizing about cars.
Other than something large, and comfortable.
And capable of transporting five dogs, two of whom are quite large themselves.
And preferably forest green.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY S. WOODY!

I should be getting ready for our grand and wonderful trip to Philadelphia. Der Brucer has planned a couple of very nice meals, a museum tour, and lordy knows what else we will manage to fit into the schedule.
I just hope we don't have to park the car too many times, since that can get expensive.

TD, I've never been to myspace but I have had lots of youtube videos sent to me by friends. Yes, it can be quite addicting. There are many clips from Broadway shows and the old TV shows like the CB clip you are wonderful to see. Even though the quality isn't great the clips are still fun to watch.

Good morning, all! My life is too action-packed for words today. I'm off to Toyland for several hours, then a jaunt to the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization to look over a small job and initiate a contract for the work. Following my visit there, I have a trek to the NYPL Theatre Collection to peruse some Elsie Janis scrapbooks. Hopefully, after that, I can catch up with my WIZARD OF OZ friend David Maxine before he returns to San Francisco tomorrow. I've left at least two messages for him on his cell and one on email, but there's been no response since his initial call on Monday!
The day I moved to New York and gaver up my car, insurance companies all over the USA threw a party. I now only drive in my hometown since I know the territory, and I hate driving in unfamiliar environments. There are no words to describe how underwhelmed I am at the thought of owning a car. I have no thoughts on today's TOD beyond that.

I woke up still feeling anxious about the job situation. I'm feeling like I got locked into a decision I'm not yet sold on. I'm hoping that goes away when they supply me with important details such as salary and benefits. An offer isn't a formal offer until they provide those details, correct? Likewise an acceptance isn't an acceptance until they've been provided.

Thursday morning greetings! My, it's been busy here already this morning.
I'm working only half a day today, 'til 1pm, then doing some errands on the way home. This evening, my book group gathers for our annual covered dish dinner and watching of the movie made from this month's book: Bee Season, by Myla Goldberg. All through the reading of the book, I kept trying to picture Richard Gere as the father and could not. We'll see.

Happiest of birthdays to DR SWW!

I always thought a Cord would be nice-- say around '37 or '38. But a 1956 Lincoln Continental was one very cool car. Very classic lines. Very much like a T-Bird but just a little more Bentley Greg.
Any Thunderbird from 1956 through about 1968 would be nice too.
Bruce, you said your music guy came over. Do you have a music guy, too? ;)
Don't worry about losing weight Bruce. You are indeed quite thin, so enjoy it!

Don't you do it! In terms of business and managing money in order to pay bills and taxes and stay out of debt, I assume a mask of adulthood for those minutes it takes to do that.
Otherwise, I feel as young inside as I did at 18. I asked my father before he died if he felt young inside, and he told me fighting in the Pacific in World War II took that out of him.
Since I never was in the military (apart from two years in Army ROTC in college), I didn't have that experience. Maybe that's why I continue to feel just as immature and goofy inside as I did when I was a teen.

-
Glad you're on-line, DR MBarnum!
There was an article in the newspaper today describing the Bollywood movie that's been filming at the Rockingham Speedway here. I'm sure you'd be familiar with the stars: Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee. The movie's title in English is DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY and involves a race car champion who hits the skids and then fights his way back to the top.
In fact, it sounds a lot like TALLEDAGA NIGHTS, the Will Ferrell movie that's been #1 at the box-office the last two weeks except the Bollywood movie won't be merely a farce like the Ferrell film is.
I had no idea Indians were even interested in stock car racing. One learns something every day.

THough having a car is pretty much a necessity in this area of the country, I've never been a car person. I just want something reliable that will get me where I need to go.
However, I think I would love to have had one of those electric cars that the oil barons and car manufacturers managed to squash all those years ago.
As little as I drive now, an electric car would suit my needs admirably.

The MR. MOTO box will be completed this afternoon (luckily these films last barely an hour so it's easy to watch them and then go on with something else - perhaps another episode of THE WILD WILD WEST or THE MUPPEt SHOW with Julie Andrews which, come to think of it, is what's cued up in the player at this moment.
-
Oh yes, I like Saif Ali Khan! I would not be at all surprised if it was a remake of something like GRAND PRIX...Bollywood loves to remake (to them) foreign movies..
-
Having lunch out with friends today, too, so that will also cut a bit into viewing time this afternoon. These Thursday lunches often run long.
-
Oh yes, I like Saif Ali Khan!
Yes, he is indeed very handsome in the small publicity picture they ran in the newspaper. "The Brad Pitt of Bollywood" he's sometimes called according to the newspaper article.

Good morning Dear Esteemed, hungry, automotive, & sleek BK --
As a result of your excellent information that you passed on to me last evening, I now have on order Kevin's DVD, Deceit. and The Last Starfighter CD. It will be a great treat to look forward to, when I get back from my trip.
For your really yummy dinner tonight.......it's kind of hard to beat the Pounded Steak at M.& F. , extra gravy, etc.........

I would have absolutely NO interest in watching Steve Martin's version of THE PINK PANTHER. The ads on TV turned me right off, and I knew I'd never watch it in any venue: the theater, on DVD or on pay-cable.
And I read there is a movement underfoot to remake ALL ABOUT EVE with Sigourney Weaver as Margo Channing. That's another movie I'll be sure to miss.

My other dream car is the 1963 Mercury Comet...which was my first car, purchased for $200 in 1983.

TOD:
I have to admit that I'm one of those persons who love the design, look, and uniqueness of certain cars. I'm not a "rebuild the carburetor" kind of guy (yea, like that's any big surprise!) , but I do love the interior and exterior design details of a number of autos.
I'll probably list some a little later. But for any of you DRs who live in the southern California area, one of the most beautiful collection of truly "classic cars" (as opposed to hot-rods or so-called "muscle cars") is housed in a lovely museum out in the far north end of the San Fernando valley in Sylmar.
It is called "The Nethercutt Collection", it is housed in 2 large buildings, and there is no charge involved. The one building is all cars and is open to the public at any time, and the other taller building houses both cars and other antiques and a floor of musical instruments, and it is free but requires a reservation. The reservation is because in that building, the tours are conducted by a guide who gives a very informative description of the items.
The taller building is called "San Sylmar," and the one level building is called "The Nethercutt Collection." The number to call for reservations for the guided tour building, is (818) 367-2251. And the museums are located at 15200 Bledsoe Street, Sylmar, California.

TOD...I have to say I love my Prius. Right now the only other car I would like to have would be a Mini-Cooper. I think they are adorable
-
I suppose I should get back to work....

Hi DR Cilla..........
Even though DP Kerry and I have had a really wonderful string of exotic cars over the years, my own "daily driver" right now is also a Prius hybrid. I have never had a car that was better built, quiet, wonderful sound insulation, no rattles or squeaks, and it is a bonus in these days to actually get 44 mpg around the city.
-
Before I go....I agree on the 9/11 911 tapes. I don't see any point in releasing them to the public. I can understand a committee studying them to see if there are ways to improve communication between law enforcement and medical personnel in emergencies or in allowing family members who want to hear them to do so, beyond that it's pretty disgusting, especially this long after the event

Cool! I agree. I had a 2003 Prius. It was a lot different, more of a little eco-mobile. When I got my 2005 Prius, I felt like I was moving into a sports car.

Yes, I'm here.

As for feeling "better"....well, I'm in the same place I was shortly after midnight.
I'm rested.

Well I only got home at 9:15pm. So i sort of watched it backwards. Although i knew it was going to come down to benji and travis.
I also knew benji was more popular so i was not surprised by the outcome (i was very happy but teary).
I liked how they got to do their favorite numbers. But i wish benji had chosen a better one for him and heidi. I was really happy to get to see that travis/heidi park bench one (since i had missed it the first time).
I thought the finale was terrific. But I will say that the dialspoiler site had the results right on. I actually thought heidi would finish 3rd. But they had the results as (something like this):
benji 15 000
travis 11 000
donyelle 7000
heidi 4000
I'm not sure what those numbers represent. But you can see how much more popular benji was.
The only thing i found weird on the show was how they dismissed heidi and donyelle. I think they should have had all 4 standing together. Oh and i also wish they hadn't waited till 9:57 to announce the winner. My favorite part is watching the reactions.
Will anybody be going to the tour? I would if it came here.

So you're dreaming about food, BK? You certainly TALK about it a lot! And HOW many times did you tempt me with pie last week when I was visiting? Hummmm? Must admit that coconut cream pie was divine. Could HHW be coming out of the summer doldrums?
We achieved NINE pages of posts last night. Know when the last time we achieved as many as nine pages of posts? June 21!
-
I agree wholeheartedly with Ben regarding the 9/11 calls and movies. I was reading the paper this morning, and had to just turn past those pages of phone call text.
I will say one thing though, regarding making them public. It is an unfortunate necessity. And the reason is, if you don't make everything public, people will think something is being hidden from them. The government is required to do this, and it is a good thing, not only because sometimes a government might actually be trying to hide something, but the appearance of secrecy foments conspiracy theorists and other such rabble rousers.
One does wish the press would not use the release of the material in such a sensationalistic manner.
-
I was feeling like jumping on a bandwagon, so since everyone else seemed to be getting tickets to the Thurs. Oct. 5th Drowsy Chaperone performance, i figured it was the happening place to be that night. So i grabbed myself a ticket before they're all gone. Any chance of a post-show snack that night, people who are going? (The show is actually an early-ending show, ends about 9:45 or 9:50, IIRC.)
-
Wide automobiles make for a wide HHW, BK.
-
Also, at least from what little I did read this morning, the words of private citizens (i.e. people who are not rescue workers or dispatchers) have been redacted from the released materials.
The exceptions are in cases where the call content was already used on record in a trial.
So, there is some judiciousness to what was released.
-

THEN I had two browsers up and resized so that I could watch both them at the same time! I had to pause one or the other every once in a while to sync them up but it was pretty cool seeing them literally side by side! ;D

Things to find out:
Monthly HOA/Condo fees (this is property management...and it's NEVER a fixed fee).
Age of building! (The older, the more maintenance required and the more costly "fixes" in its future).
Last major "fixes" (i.e., roof, hot water heaters, elevator -- if any -- plumbing).
On your need-to-know list: Condos are more costly than paying the monthly mortgage. You have monthly HOA/Condo fees, insurance and, when required, "assessments" to offset your share of common expenses like a new roof, or new siding, or painting or whatever. These things are never dependent upon whether it's in your budget at the time!!! That's "in addition to" your normal mortgage/HOA fees.
Also ask for a copy of the CC&Rs BEFORE you commit to anything. Sometimes, a condo board will consist of some eccentric souls who, for their own reasons, believe everyone should think as they think...and they impose some strange "rules" on everyone else (these are the folks who run for the HOA board and win and then make rules whether they get full ownership participation or not). Be aware that condos are VERY POLITICAL.
If you can live and let live and let everyone decide what's best for your without your interfering, then proceed blithely forward. Or....find out everything before you make your final decision!
:D

I only know Ashley Tappan because of a couple records I have, one is a Ken Griffin tribute LP, and one is Ashley Tappan at the Piccadilly Gardens.
So...does anyone know if Ashley Tappan is related to Tami Tappan Damiano? :)
-
On the film music board, this guy I really think is a fool made a post in which he said something about "the last act" of The President's Analyst film. I posted that given the use of "the last act" he must have gone to film school or taken the class of Syd Field or Robert McKee. He came back and basically said he'd met Syd and liked what he had to say, and had taken Mr. McKee's class (and hadn't liked him - but obviously liked the terminology). I do not like the terminology and find it amusing that so many youngsters use it as if it's the be-all and end-all of film script structure.

Haven't read today's posts yet. Must rush out, but I want to show you a sign that's recently gone up in a parking space at the corner of my street. You'd have to be brutally honest with yourself to park here...

Looks like our readings of LAST STARFIGHTER on Sept. 29th and 30th will be associated with NYMF. We're thrilled that NYMF has let this happen. The page on NYMF's website is just starting to get together, but here's what's there so far.

Okay, Ron...what are CC&Rs??
Conditions, Covenants & Restrictions
In general, they are a good thing. However, dependent upon the makeup of the "elected" board that modified the latest version, the CC & Rs could read more like "How to keep everyone in line with every nitpicking thing the HOA board can imagine."
There's always bad mixed in with the good...generally the bad is something one or two want to impose on everyone else...and they get away with it because it shuts them up so they'll leave everyone alone.
In my unit, it recently became "no charcoal grills on the balconies" (even though local fire codes permit such things). Gas grills and electric grills are fine.
-
Even if I bought into that terminology, I really wouldn't know what to define as the "last act" of that movie. No such animal.
-
Maria- ;D
-
George-C, C & R’s:
Covenants, Conditions & Regulations
The purpose of CC & R's is to give guidelines to enhance the quality of living and preserve property values for everyone.
Some say no pets or have restrictions on the size or type of pets. Others state what or what may not be placed in the hall outside your door. The list goes on.

What an infuriating morning. The DVDs arrived at ten. What should have taken all of ten minutes - stuffing the pre-addressed envelopes - turned into an hour because the DVDs wouldn't fit in the envelopes without the envelopes bending, tearing, or just not fitting at all. Now, these are the same envelopes in which I shipped the DVDs for Deceit - those were snug but no probs getting them inside. Same envelopes. Same exact size DVD case (the Deceit DVD won't fit in these recently purchased envelopes) - which means that the envelopes are slightly smaller. So, I had to go buy the next size, readdress everything (including the delivery confirmation slips) and what a pain in the ASS and the fesrhluganah envelope company can KISS MY ASS because I wasted about thirty bucks on those envelopes that I can't get refunded because I used them.

Those Bastards! :o

Thanks for the update Ron and Jane! :-*

I think I'm a little late on the car topic, but I wanted to chime in about my 76 beetle. It's in almost perfect condition and was my daily driver for years. I'm kind of a beetle fanatic, take it to car shows and belong to a vw news group and such. I'm not quite sure how to post a pic or I would put one up. To give you an idea it's the color of a brand new penny, not a dent or scratch, and the interior is almost perfect. I'm in love with older cars, I think they have more character and personality than newer cars. BUT, after riding in DR Cillaliz's Prius I decided I could drive a new car. It really is quiet and has a good ride, not to mention the savings on gas mileage. All right, that's my 2 cents for now.
-
Happiest of Happy Birthdays, Dear Dear S. Woody White!!! And many more to come. You should enjoy in good health!
TOD - loved my first car - a 66 light cream colored VW Bug, with a sun roof and everything... 5-speed... my brother drove it into its grave, while I was in Europe... Next fave was my trusty Honda CRX, '85, got almost 50 mpg. In summer 1991 a drunk came crashing into it - byebye, CRX. I immediately bought another one, an '88, drove it for years. And then, nearly 3 years ago, I bought the estimable and totally terrific 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid - which gets better than 50 mpg, and on which I have racked up 75,000 miles. I do love that car. Yup - I am a frugal sort, who appreciates economy!
-
Nope - actually where I wrote 1991 - it should read 2001, when the drunk killed my car and just missed killing me...
-
DR PennyO, it's awesome to know you had a bug. Nowadays that 66 would be worth probably 4 or 5 times what you would have bought it for new. It's kinda crazy, people will buy those older in bugs that are in good condition at quite the cost.
-
Happy birthday, DR SWW.
Loved the added eagle pics yesterday, DRJANE.
DR ANN - sorry for your problems.
DRDANISE - congratulations on your new pillow!
-
I had a 1964 Comet that was very pretty but not very dependable. I also had a Mercury Capri....a light blue station wagon. Everyone thought it was a Ford Escort, but it wasn't. It was very nice.
-
Love the sign, DR MARIA.
Most of the cast of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD could park there anyway....and still have room for the ENTIRE cast of SEUSSICAL.
-
Here is my answer to the TOTD:
-
Must go work at the box office for the sold out show tonight and then clean the theatre....bleh!
But then my association with SEUSSICAL will be complete!!!
-
Back from the jog. I don't know what it is, but this entire week of jogging has been really difficult - each day is like I've never jogged before and I barely am able to complete the distance. I do complete the distance, oh, yes, I do complete the distance, but it's been really difficult for the last five days.
-
I am happy about the winner of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE....even though said winner didn't get my vote....almost....but not quite.
And I am not too happy about the elimination on PWOJECT WUNWAY last night....I think I would have gotten rid of the other member of the bottom two.
-

Good Afternoon!
We have wireless in the rehearsal hall! Yippee!
*And since I'm in the midst of a choreography rehearsal, that means I have time to read and post right now. ;)

I agree, although I had no expectation that the one who got eliminated would make it to the finals.
-
Happy Birthday DR S. Woody White!!!!!
-
I'm still catching up on posts, so....
As for "So You Think You Can Dance?"... I was happy with the winner. I would have been happy with any of them. However, the "elimination" format of the second hour was just totally ridiculous! Especially with Cat Deeley's comments - she made me want Lauren Sanchez back.;)
-
And as for "Project Runway"...
Fun episode last night. It will be fun to see the winning design in the window at Macy's tomorrow. *I'll be back in the City tomorrow, and just working a few blocks from there.
-
I liked the newspaper dress more than the one that won!
DRJOSE.....do you have someone writing down your steps while you internet?
-
I agree, although I had no expectation that the one who got eliminated would make it to the finals.
True although, the one going home had been in the top three at least once....and maybe twice....while the one that stayed, if I remember correctly has NEVER been in the top three. ::)
-
I wish I was driving my cherry red 1958 Chrysler Imperial convertible to the theatre tonight! Instead of my cream colored 2004 PT Cruiser.
-
It's just not the same. :o
-
Off to the theatre......
at least it's not raining.
Watched the VHS of THE FANTASTICKS....forgot how much I really like the music.....even in the movie. And it is only movie I have seen where I liked Joel Grey's performance....even though I know he is a close personal friend of DRGINNY.
Very excited about the upcoming Broadway adventures of DR GINNY and DH RICHARD and DR's CILLALIZ and JKVW!!!
-
Hello, happy taxpayers!
Wanted to share those joyfull clips of Disney-animators turned musicians, namely the FIREHOUSE FIVE + TWO:
And let's keep the beat!
And a-One, and a-Two....

My best friend in Jr High, Dave, had a 1958 Imperial sitting in his back yard for years...it was the old family car...it finally rotted away and I think his parents paid someone to haul it off back in the mid 90s.

I had a green 1966 VW bug in grad school, 1969-71. I loved it and miss it still.

I am sorryt to report that lovely Lois January, star of the 1936 film COCAINE FIENDS passed away this week at age 93.

You mean we're supposed to be taught and learn steps in choreography rehearsals?
:-\
;)
-
They are putting the garbage dresses in the Macy's window?
For non-fans, that is not a value judgment. The dresses were made of recyclable garbage.
Spoiler:
I will miss the gal who left because she was really cute. I keep rooting for Vincent, but he really doesn't have much to offer, does he? Laura was out of line though.
-
Oh, nnnnoooooooo!
The subject is FOOD again!!
-
Well, the sun is very bright, but it's not hellish hot, so at least we can be grateful for that. 83 instead of 93.
It's a start toward fall anyway.
-
Enjoyed the Julie Andrews-MUPPET SHOW. Hadn't seen it since it first aired, so it was a nice reintroduction to it.
-
Then I watched MYSTERIOUS MR. MOTO. Enjoyed it more than the previous two. There was a real mystery here, and I guessed the identity of the mastermind before it was revealed.
Lots of people in this movie that didn't get billing. Leon Ames had a BIG part, and he didn't get billing. Neither did a favorite movie and TV villain - Leonard Maudie.
This may be the first time I ever saw Henry Wilcoxin in a movie not produced or directed by Cecil B. DeMille.
-
For your really yummy dinner tonight.......it's kind of hard to beat the Pounded Steak at M.& F. , extra gravy, etc.........
One only beats a steack if.... it is not tender enough! ;)
Gravy on a steack?!?!? NO gravy if the steack tastes good by itself! Gravy is to "hide" something not to "enlighten"...
-
I have also always been fond of the Nash Metropolitan. Cute cars!
My buddy Ryan has one and his father also has one, and they are fun to run around in.
Ohhh! I like this one
-
I was feeling like jumping on a bandwagon, so since everyone else seemed to be getting tickets to the Thurs.
Cool! Sounds great. Count JH and I in on this one
-
Then, I watched the featurette on the career of director Norman Foster. I had NO idea he had no only directed CHANS and MOTOs at Fox but also did a lot of work at Walt Disney including the DAVY CROCKETT and ZORRO series. Also was great friends with Orson Welles and directed JOURNEY INTO FEAR.
I have to say that greatly enjoyed all of the featurettes presented on the four MOTO DVDs. Very concise and worthwhile overviews in the lives and careers of these movie folks.

Tonight's GREY'S ANATOMY repeats are the two part episode that was first shown after the Super Bowl this past February and on the following week. Looking forward to this highly praised set of episodes.
My local NBC affilliate is preempting MY NAME IS EARL and THE OFFICE tonight with a special on the upcoming season of the Carolina Panthers, so I won't get to see either of them tonight. They don't make it a habit of rebroadcasting shows they preempt in the early morning hours like other stations around town do. Very infuriating.
-

Oh, I remember Metropolitans. I agree, DRs MBarnum and Cillaliz, they were rather cute. They were ahead of their time, weren't they? Does anyone remember the Volvo 2-seater? I'd like to see something like that now.
-
JH, What was the car that your DB (dear brother) David had (or still has?) That was the cutest little car I've ever seen
-
Ah, back to work, but the day is nearly over......

Sounds like a partay is shaping up! DH Richard and I will be there and my suspicion is that DR Elmore will be there, too.
-
Spoiler:
I will miss the gal who left because she was really cute.
Now I really won't miss her. ;D
-
Perhaps Rodzinski and I should look into tickets for Drowsy Chaperone.
-
Holy Moly, we're on Page 7!
-
I want to be there on the 5th-still waiting to hear my friend's chemo schedule before I make plans.
-
Hello, Jane! haven't seen you in a long time - seen the puppies, yet? I have a new feral cat - she has chased away the sweet orange one. This one is a pregnant all-gray cat. She just wants to curl up in my lap. I think she must have some Siamese in her, because of her fairly constant talking... sometimes I would swear I hear actual words. Anyhow, i do wish these kitties would have their babies earlier in the year. How will she get them trained to hunt, before the winter comes? Ah, me...

Amazon.com now has artwork (and a listing) for the pending issue of the 1974 (Chelsea version) of "Candide."
Release date: August 29, 2006!
HOO and RAY!

Okay, off I go to chew out a hapless arts commissioner, who has not shown me due deference and respect...
-
For JRand and Jose...and anyone else who watches "Project Runway":
Last night's episode was, at times, hysterically funny to me.
Kayne's original creation...!! As he said, it looked like "a frog exploded on it."
Loved Laura's remark: "There's some serious ugly in here!"
Hated that Alison had to go. Hated it, hated it, hated it. Mainly because I think Vincent's every fashion has been hideous and Alison has done some terrific stuff.
Still, she really had an ugly outfit on the runway.
I disagree with the choice of winner. Michael did well, but it was rather blah/bland. Jeffrey really stepped up...and got kicked in the...errr...um...gonads with that "just barely" remark about losing out on the top spot.
Kayne and Robert having their quickie meal...and trash-talking Laura...was a hoot.
Laura's remarks to Kayne were too bitchy, as were here post-runway remarks to Vincent, whom I believe she felt should have been the one to go instead of Alison.
Not her call to make...any of it. And I'm glad Kayne and Vincent gave her as good as she dished out.
Paraphrasing best bit of the night:
Laura (to Kayne): "I question your taste in many of the choices you make."
Kayne (to Laura): "And I question your character most of the time. I've won a challenge, and I certainly won't be dissed on camera by you."
-
Back from errands (package arrived), and now must go to the post office and then to Mr. Geissman's, after which I shall return.
-
LOL Kayne and Laura.....I like Laura....and what was it with Jeffrey saying...:"she's making ANOTHER high waisted skirt....." and that's exactly he made, too....although I liked Jeffrey's design best of all.
-
Yes, DRJOSE.....but choreography rehearsals are mainly to stand around and roll your eyes at the steps and patterns the choreographer gives you and then only half-ass try them and say they won't work so that he/she has to start over.....
-
Okay, off I go to chew out a hapless arts commissioner, who has not shown me due deference and respect...
Tell them they don't know anything about art.....they are a pair of brown shoes and the art world is a tuxedo. 8)
-
Cool! I agree. I had a 2003 Prius. It was a lot different, more of a little eco-mobile. When I got my 2005 Prius, I felt like I was moving into a sports car.
I almost bought a prius. They are nice cars. I do have Chevy Prizm that I like.
-
DR Elmore and I shared the stage in Auntie Mame with many folks who qualify to park in the space in DR Maria's neighborhood.

DR Elmore and I shared the stage in Auntie Mame with many folks who qualify to park in the space in DR Maria's neighborhood.
Ohmigod! One of the alltime lows in my rather nadir career.
-
My cousin used to have a couple of corvettes that he restored from the 1960s. They were gems...
-
My first car was a 1981 Chevrolet Chevette Scooter. It was a nice little car and got better mileage than a Ford Tempo I had.
-
DR PennyO, it's awesome to know you had a bug. Nowadays that 66 would be worth probably 4 or 5 times what you would have bought it for new. It's kinda crazy, people will buy those older in bugs that are in good condition at quite the cost.
My first car was an orange 76 Super Beetle! I loved that car. The next one I get will have to get better gas milage than what I'm getting now (about 30 in the city and going to Issaquah and back four days in a row, I got 35!) and I'd like another European car. My second car was a Subaru Justy (Japanese) and the car I have now is a Ford Escort (US). Back to Europe! ;)
-
Hi Penny. I doubt we will see the puppies in person until we know which ones we get to choose from.
Any chance you can keep the mother inside so the kittens won’t be feral & can go to homes? Then the mother can be released after being spayed.
-
I have also always been fond of the Nash Metropolitan. Cute cars!
DR MB -- Snazzy indeed !! Ask DR Kerry about the Metroplitan....:) :)
-
My first car was a 1967 or 1968 white Chevy Chevette. It had automatic transmission, but it had no power steering or power brakes and was a bear to drive for me as a 98 pound weakling.
It was a bare bones model for sure, but it was nice having a car to go to college with.
-
Yay! Just got my copy of PennyO's book "Jewish Thighs on Broadway." Looking forward to reading it.
-
One only beats a steack if.... it is not tender enough! ;)
Gravy on a steack?!?!? NO gravy if the steack tastes good by itself! Gravy is to "hide" something not to "enlighten"...
DR Francois -- I would agree with you about 99% of the time about beef steak, but this isn't like a wonderful "entrecote avec pommes frites" type of steak. Rather it is a peculiarly American and wonderful creation, which is truly delicious. Also very rich (the "gravy" or sauce has lots of cream and butter and pan scrapings and stuff in it). If you ever hit Hollywood, ask our Esteemed BK to take you to Musso & Frank Grill on Hollywood Boulevard.
-
Great about October 5th aftre the show. It's too soon to make a reservation, but anyone have any favorite places that (I hope :) ) don't require dress-up?
-
Barrymores? Oh, yeah :'(
-
I'm off now to sup with my book group girlfriends and to watch Richard Gere in Bee Season.
Bye for now.
-
Off to clean the bedrooms and then back to a full evening of TV.
WBBL.
-
I'm just listening to a compilation of "songs about the moon" (named for the Paul Simon song). Currently playing is Mr Jimmy Webb singing "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
I thought the song title said "The Moon is a Hard Matress" LOL!
-
Good Afternoon! -Almost Evening...
Choreography rehearsal ended. -And that's all I'll say for now.
;)
-
DR Rodzinski et al - If the "trend" continues", Macy's has been displaying the winning dresses in one of their windows on 34th Street. I guess it started with the "reveal" of the winner two weeks ago, but the other winning dresses from the start of the series were also on display. Kind of neat seeing them up close.
-
The release of the 911 tapes bothers me. I can't help feeling that there are privacy issues here, that the families and friends of those who made the calls are now having to endure the event in an even more public way than they had to endure it before. Now, complete strangers are listening to their loved ones final moments. Everything is being exposed, exploited. It's just wrong.
The news story I watched last night focused entirely on the families of the victims. They were the ones that sued fot the release of those tapes, many of which the officials claimed did not exist. One man, the father of a victim, said he could now have closure, because he now knew where his son was when he died. The tapes are not my cup of tea, but I certainly would not wish to decide the issue for other people with much closer ties.

I thought the song title said "The Moon is a Hard Matress" LOL!

Hmm... I just remembered that as of now I'm actually "off" the first week of October from Cabaret, so I guess I will be up in NYC that week. I was thinking I would be otherwise engaged that week with another project, but since that contract has yet to materialize... In any case, I was also think that would be a good time to rent a truck, and clear out my storage spaces in Richmond and Fairfax (ugh), and move it all up to the Big Apple. Finally!
-And maybe I'll just sit audit in the pit that night for The Drowsy Chaperone. ;)
-
Well, time for me to get ready to head back up to NYC for the night... However, apparently, the rush hour traffic down here is still in full swing, so... Ah, well...
Laters...

And thus it was...the "plan" for domestic bliss in the Eisenhower Years!

On the Sondheim listserv, someone posted THIS (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-2310051,00.html) article about the Johnny Depp "Sweeney Todd" movie. In part, it says:
....Stephen Sondheim, the veteran composer, wants the actor to take a voice test before he blesses Depp as cinema’s latest Sweeney Todd.
The 76-year-old composer is concerned that Depp, who has played with rock bands since he was 13 and based his anti-hero Jack Sparrow on Keith Richards, the Rolling Stone, may be too “rock’n’roll” to play the murderous barber of Fleet Street.
Tim Burton, the London-based director behind the proposed film, has been praising Depp’s singing voice, but Sondheim needs to be convinced. The composer has said that he will not approve a cinematic version of his Broadway musical, which he describes as “virtually an opera”, if the main character has to mime rather than sing.
Yea! ;D
-
My first car, now that was an AMC Hornet. Any other AMC owners here?
-
I have an mp3 of Johnny Depp's early band, the Rock City Angels. I doubt he could carry Sweeney.
-
I have an mp3 of Johnny Depp's early band, the Rock City Angels. I doubt he could carry Sweeney.
And Johnny Depp is just so skinny! I would think that a more sold physicality (for a lack of a better term) is needed for the role.

I just cant see Depp doing Sweeney...

And Johnny Depp is just so skinny! I would think that a more sold physicality (for a lack of a better term) is needed for the role.
He's been a prisoner doing hard labor in Australia for 18 years, was rescued in the ocean by Anthony, and he weighs how much?

And it's about 1830 when the life span was about 55-60? If you're lucky. And he weighs how much? Sweeney's about 40 years old.
I think Tim Burton's the perfect director and I am already looking forward to this film.
-
I have an mp3 of Johnny Depp's early band, the Rock City Angels. I doubt he could carry Sweeney.
Perhaps he'll be dubbed? We don't even know how much of the score will be cut. Perhaps he'll sing next to nothing?

Then what would be the point of making the movie?? :-\
-
He's been a prisoner doing hard labor in Australia for 18 years, was rescued in the ocean by Anthony, and he weighs how much?
I'm thinking a physicality to actually sing the role. A tiny pip-squeek of a guy like Depp can't really have a booming baritone voice, can he? ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWW!!!
Re the TOD - I don't know from cars.
I guess if I had a dreamcar - which I don't - it would be my new car. It's quite snazzy and does everything except write scripts for me. And it's a hybrid, so I'm doing my bit for the environment. I gave my old car - which wasn't all that old and had very low mileage - to my DD.
I'll post a photo later.
-
Well...I'm off to look at a couple of condos! Later!
-
Here's the new car-car...
It has a navigation system which was very helpful today in coming home from a meeting. I just punched in "Home" and the nice lady who lives inside the engine told me exactly how to get there. And she never once yelled at me!
-
Maria-nice car. I should learn how to use my navigation system, just don't really need it around my small town, very often anyway. ;D Otherwise Keith is driving & he works it.
-
Back from the post office (everything is shipped and up to date), and from Mr. Geissman's house. I'm happy to report that Mr. Geissman has outdone himself with the cover of the new short story collection - it is, in a word, faboo, and in another word, magnificent and a total eye-catcher. I kept asking him to print it out and he kept doing other things and then he had to leave and it was too late. He's supposed to e-mail me the image in the morning, and I'm hoping to go over to his house and get a printout after my morning meeting. I couldn't be happier and I think everyone will love it.
-
The good meal I was hoping to have isn't happening. My dinner partner copped a plea of illness, and I was so hungry and fed up that I just stopped at MacDonald's and got some mediocre food to eat. Oh, well.
-
Thank you, DR Francois, for your comments on food. I quite agree!
-
While in L.A. we have seen some beautiful Bentley's.

I'm thinking a physicality to actually sing the role. A tiny pip-squeek of a guy like Depp can't really have a booming baritone voice, can he? ;)
Three of the more booming baritone/bass voices in my experience have been Norman Treigle (may he rest in peace) - who was about 5'10 and weighed maybe a buck-oh-five; Justino Diaz - about 5'10 and maybe 140; and my ex, Charles Long, who back in the day, was 5'10 and weighed between 136-140 on a good day. Sam Ramey - another old pal, was/is about 5'11 and in HIS heyday, weighed probably 150. They all shared costumes at New York City Opera. They all played villains...
Any and all of those guys could have sung the sweet Bejeezus outa Sweeney. I don't know if Johnny Depp can sing, but I wouldn't question his dramatic/physical rightness for the role...
-
I’m tired, probably because I didn’t exercise today. Instead I got work done around the house & the carpets cleaned. I didn’t clean them, had the carpet guy come. I did move some of the furniture & guarded the outside doors he had to leave ajar-didn’t want any lizards to move in.
‘night.
-
Jane - I would love to keep the mama cat inside and raise those kittens as house pets - if I had another month here I sure would. I have no idea when those babies will be born - I think gestation is 9 weeks - we could be three weeks or a month away. At which time, I'll be in LA... I have, from time to time, put 5 pounds of rice under the pump house when I leave, to keep mice coming back for more... a little rodent farm for mama cats...
-
Then what would be the point of making the movie?? :-\
MONEY!
As the Hollywood "suits" say: Mr Depp is BANKABLE! :)
-
Penny, there must be a cat rescue group somewhere between you and Seattle.

One of the cars I mentioned very early this morning

Hello, fellow Dear Readers! I have just returned from a whirlwind trip to Las Vegas with my son, where we just happened to see the Phantom extravaganza, starring the WSMA. It was great.
-
(Sorry to toot my own horn, but I have had lots of practice)
A Public Service Announcement that I filmed for the Tacoma Little Theatre, back in January, has started airing on all of the Northwest cable channels. Since most of you don't watch cable in Washington State; if you want, you can check out the 30 second spot at this website:

Of course it was great, it stars the WSMA.

Yay! Just got my copy of PennyO's book "Jewish Thighs on Broadway." Looking forward to reading it.
WOW~! I was about to say that there were thighs in my mailbox, not chicken thighs or even turkey thighs, but Jewish Thighs on Broadway, no less....LOL I got mine today, too
-
Thanks for the link DR TCB. Which one was you?
Congratulations.
-
Fun PSA, TCB, you looked quite dashing
-
Quite weary, but am happily sitting on my couch like so much fish, watching a really fun Danish movie.
-
AHHHH I've been training my Dragon Naturally Speaking tonight. What a pain. I'm now having a problem getting the digital voice recorder files into Dragon Naturally Speaking.,..I'm either going to have to read the manual or wait until tomorrow and ask our CSA how to do it. That's the ticket....
-
Danish you say? A Danish sounds really good right now...maybe I should make a trip to Panera
-
Thanks for the link DR TCB. Which one was you?
Congratulations.
The one putting on the eye makeup.
-
Thanks Tom and Cillzliz.
-
Tomorrow morning I must remember to get online and buy tickets for (drum roll) The Smothers Brothers 50th Anniversary Tour! I'm really excited they will be here and have several friends who are coming down to see them. I think it will be a blast

I just wanted to say that I did something highly unusual today!

I was interviewed and will know in two to three weeks, via postcard and telephone call, whether I should start packing for another trip to the Big Apple. . .
-

DR TCB ALWAYS looks dashing . . .well, always in my dreams. . ;)
-
My first car, now that was an AMC Hornet. Any other AMC owners here?
Yes, DR Rodzinski, my first car was a beige 1973 AMC Hornet. A far cry from that Capri that I really wanted.
BTW, like many other DRs, I am quite pleased with what I'm driving now, my Pontiac Vibe. It's just the right size and gets good gas mileage.
-
And now I am getting ready to fly to California tomorrow for meetings. My travel companion and I agreed not to check on any luggage, so after removing all the unallowable gels and liquids, I will really be traveling light!
-
Love the PSA, DR TCB!
Congratulations to DR td on making the Millionaire finals!
Back from a sparkling evening with my book group. Anybody want a leftover cupcake?

Well done DR td.

Congrats TD....Hope you win a million!!!

Thanks, td. You know, dreams can come true.
-
My first car, now that was an AMC Hornet. Any other AMC owners here?
I traded in the 1963 Comet for a 1975 AMC Matador. It was gigantic!
-
Good luck DR td...
Nice job TCB with the PSA!!
-
My favorite car, ever, the 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse
-
Nice evening of TV. I started with a MURDER SHE WROTE rerun, one I couldn't remember from about the middle of the show's run. Ron Masak had taken over from Tom Bosley, so I'm thinking it was probably seven years in or so.
-
Thanks Ginny and DakotaCelt.
-
Next came two episodes of GREY'S ANATOMY back-to-back. This was the supercharged Super Bowl episode and the conclusion of the two-partner that featured the rocket inside the man's body.
Kyle Chandler and Christina Ricci both earned Emmy nominations for their guest star roles on these episodes. Ricci might win for her work. Chandler was fine, but if he ends, I suspect it will be more for his character's fate than for the acting otherwise.
I still think James Woods is going to win it for ER.
-
And then at 10 I watched the 9 p.m. CSI episode. This was George Eads' finest hour from this past season as the CSIs investigate the deaths of an entire family where there is plenty of blood but no bodies.
-
I haven't seen the movie version of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE in a long, long time, and I noticed that one of the HBO channels was showing it this afternoon, so I set the DVR to pick it up. Imagine my disgust when this Panavision movie was pan and scanned for broadcast. So, it got deleted about five minutes into the viewing. I'll have to make do with the DVD from the Delacorte live performance.
-
Where in California will dear reader Laura be? Here in LA? She'd better call, if so.
Danish movie is done, and am now starting Mr. Kurosawa's Scandal.
Ten pages of postings - that's what I'M talkin' about. Maybe we've gotten back up to speed. I so wish I could post the cover of the book - I so wish I could even look at it right now.
-
I'm really in the mood for a musical for tomorrow, so I'll start combing the archives to find something I haven't seen in awhile and want to see again. At this point, I have no idea what it will be.
-
Heading for bed now.
Good night!
-
Haven't gotten any original art in years, but I was able to do some tradin' tonight, and next week I'll be the proud owner of an original Cracked Magazine cover painting used for issue 104 (circa 1972). It's a wonderful piece of comic art depicting the cast of The Godfather (for a spoof called The Rodfather).
-
Where in California will dear reader Laura be? Here in LA? She'd better call, if so.
I will be in Pasadena. I wanted to drive over, but they convinced me to fly. I wish now that they hadn't. If I had been able to drive over, I might have been able to sneak out for pancakes.
-
I can always come get you.
-

Just call when you get in - let's see if we can work out a meal.
I have meetings most of the time. I'll have to see if I can get out of some of the evening stuff. Or maybe late on Saturday night?

Have we surpassed our all-time low yet? I hope so, because I have to get to bed.

This morning I went for a walk in the Rio Casino, and I saw this parade in the sky:
-
And since I'm sure you are all dying to know, here is the carpet in the Rio Casino:
-
Thanks DR LAURA....I was waiting for the carpet pic! Lovely....best evah, I think!
-
Great video from DR TCB....the stah!
And good vibes for DR td.....HHW will deserve a mention once he gets in the hotseat....I am sure.....
-
My brother Dane had an AMC Hornet in olive green....it caught fire and burned up....then it was kind of black and brown and green.
-
I always thought the AMC Matador was a hot looking car....but only saw one ONCE in my life.....in person.
-
The Drowsy Chaperone???
Your ICE water, madame.......
-
yes we must see the BOOK cover!
-
Of the three hotels I've stayed at in Vegas - the Riviera, the Rio and Bally's - the Rio was my favorite. now if only they could take that hotel and actually put it ON the Strip, that would be something.
-
We have been staying at the Gold Coast when we can. It is smaller and not so overwhelming as the big hotels. And they have no pictures of scantily clad girls.
-
TCB, great TV spot. Jed and I have been trying to catch it, with limited success. I'm glad they posted it on the website. You look fantastic.
-
Hey, great commercial, TCB. I recognized you right away.

DR JRand55...I find it hard to believe that you thought this was a cool looking car.

unfortunately that is not what I had :-\
-
Happy Birthday (a little late) DR SWoody!
-
BK, I am excited that you are going to watch SCANDAL! I hope you will enjoy it as much as JRand55 and I did...it is my most favorite Toshiro Mifune movie thus far.
-
TOD: I rather like my 1998 Corolla. I want my next car to be a Corolla, too, but with an option or two.
-
Dear Esteemed, benevolent, and multi-talented BK --
I'm really sorry that your evening intention of a really fabulous bunch of eats fell through. In the parlance of the young, "that sucks!"
But to finish out the TOD (before retiring to bed) :
DP Kerry and I have had a really unusual string of cars over the years, sometimes having more than one of these at the same time.
The first 2 on the list were my daily drivers for 12 to 15 years!
1956 Ford Thunderbird convertible hardtop
1933 Packard standard 8 4-door sedan
1972 Cadillac Eldorado hardtop
1975 Cadillac series 75 Limo sedan
1976 Cadillac Seville
1971 Karmann-Ghia
1959 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I
1990 Ford Taurus
1995 Ford Explorer "Eddie Bauer" -red - (mid life crisis!)
4 or so Chrysler mini-vans
2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser
2005 Toyota Prius
I admitted earlier that it was a most varied and eclectic bunch of cars!
G'night BK
G'night DRs
-
I am going in to work late tomorrw which means I can sleep in, which means I can stay up and get an early start on my Bollywood movie of the weekend...
SANGDIL (1952) a romantic melodramas starring Madhubala and Dilip Kumar.
-
And I saved the best for last... (but I'm sorry that I don't have a picture to post)...
DP Kerry's "extra car" at the moment is....
(....drum roll......)
a 1959 American Motors Metropolitan, turqoise and white.
We call it "Benny," after Benny The Cab in Roger Rabbitt!
-
Good Evening! Good Morning!
Greetings from NYC! I'm back! -At least for about 24 hours... well, maybe more like 19-20... Ah, well...
In any case, I'm going to have to ready myself for bed since I have auditions to play in the morning. -And since it took me an hour and a half(!!!!!!!!) to get across the GW Bridge tonight - UGH! *I went against my whim to take the Lincoln Tunnel for a change... I should have known better than to deny my instincts... In any case... Sleep is needed, so...
Goodnight.
-
Dear reader Laura, I have some opening night to go to on Saturday - some Mexican ballet or something - it's at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, so I'll only be ten minutes from Pasadena.
-

-
Oh, btw, the Millionaire thing was sponsored by NETFLIX; both a general test of thirty questions as well as a movie test of thirty questions were administered, I was chosen for the movie edition. . .the four questions I was very unsure of were an Eddie Murphy question, a MATRIX question, a MY COUSIN VINNIE question and a MYSTIC PIZZA question.
DR Elmoore, since you're so good at it, I may have to have you on hold as a lifeline. . .
Truly a weird day, if I do say so myself.

Are "last acts" in films in any way related to terrorist acts? Or lumberjack's ax? Or perhaps questions a lawyer for the prosecution asks?
-
John Wallowich wrote and Dixie Carter performed a song called "I'm Aksing You." It's hysterical!
-
Happiest of Happy Birthdays, Dear Dear S. Woody White!!! And many more to come. You should enjoy in good health!
Thank-you! And I haven't even a sniffle!

And so, good night!

And now I must wend my way to bed! 'Tis already past two here, and my beauty needs sleep. Yes, Bonnie the Princess needs me to head to my bed, so she can have someone to cuddle with!

Thanks again to everyone!

Thanks, PennyO!!
Good night, Woody!!

Well, my sister, her boyfriend and I went and looked at three different condos today (that's all we did...just look). They are all part of the same place. There were aspects of each unit that I liked. They all have two bedrooms, and two of them have loft bedrooms and fire places. Also, they all have vaulted ceilings in at least one room. One of them has one bathroom, one has one and a half bathrooms and one has two full bathrooms....
-
The unit with the one bathroom already had a washer and dryer, but we all thought that it was the most overpriced because it has the smallest square footage (855 square feet) and only one bath but it cost the same amount as the unit with the two full baths and 1,050 square feet. Both of those have two levels.
-
The unit with only one and a half baths has 1,250 square feet and is on three levels (but again, it only has a powder room on the ground floor and a full bathroom on the second level...if you use the very top for the master bedroom, you have to go downstairs to use the bathroom). This unit also had the smallest kitchen area and is $11,000 more than the other two units.
-
The overall best part is that the condo "community" is literally one street across from where I work. I LOVE that part. I really think that if this all works out (and nothing is a done deal...I really was just looking at this point), I think that I could be happy with any of these units. The negatives seemed to be really minor, except for one thing: the unit with the two full baths (1,050 footage, and the nicest looking) has very noisy neighbors right next door (and they share a wall). There are little storage units on the outside in between the front doors of the two units and from what I've been told, one of those neighbors accidentally(?) dropped a lit cigarette and that little storage unit caught on fire! It was already being replaced, but it could be an indicator of what life could be like there. So that's why as much as I liked the two full baths, I might put that at the bottom of my list. We'll see what happens now. But then, the place has rentals as well as purchasable condos, so maybe these noisy people are renters and won't stay for very long. One can only hope. ;)
-
Before ANY of this can move forward, I must consult with my financial advisor...my mother! She really does have good advice in these matters (even if I don't always follow it ::)).
;D
-
The picture seems to have been deleted!
Doesn't look deleted to me - shows up fine.
-
We asked questions of the lady who showed us the units (she's a friend of my sister's boyfriend and I think newly started working as a realtor) and she wasn't able to answer much, but she was very nice and took a lot of notes and will get answers to the questions that we asked. She also said that she'd get a copy of the CC&R.
-
Doesn't look deleted to me - shows up fine.
Something must be wrong with my computer, then. I still see a box with a red X. When I click on the link below it, which is supposed to open a new browser with the picture in it, I get the browser but it still only has the red X. Here's what I see :-\ :
-
"I guess I am just not special enough."
Name this musical.
-
Wow...we still have a half hour or so until tomorrow and only six more posts (after this one) will get us to Page 13!
-
I don't get the picture, either. When I click on the name of the jpeg, this is what I get:
The image “http://www.haineshisway.com/community/attachments/ACART00_Severin_Cracked104C.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors
-

I didn't get any kind of error message. I just got a new browser with a little red X (almost a "Little Red Hat" reference. ;))
-
And now for something completely different: A couple of days ago, I left work and took this picture...just because. ;) (I hope I resized it so that it's not too big)
-
I didn't even think about taking pictures of the condos, but they do have some on-line. I'll get the link from my sister tomorrow and maybe post them...if I remember.
