Well, you've read the notes, the notes' goose was cooked, as was the gander's, and now it is time for you to post until the cows comes home - they're out cooking the goose and the gander for a little festive meal.

And the word of the day is: PERICOPE!

Happy Eliza Doolittle Day to everyone!! ;D

I believe the writers sang their own material:
George Wyle / Sherwood Schwartz

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilligan%27s_Island#Theme_song):
The Ballad of Gilligan’s Isle is the proper name for the theme song for Gilligan’s Island. The music and lyrics were written by Sherwood Schwartz and George Wyle.
There were two versions of the theme during the run of the show, one for the first season and another for the second and third seasons. The lyrics were slightly altered in the second season to add direct mention of the Professor (Russell Johnson) and Mary Ann (Dawn Wells) in the opening credits. According to Schwartz, as the show evolved, the Professor and Mary Ann grew into more important characters than were originally planned.
The first season version was recorded by the The Wellingtons and had a more folk music sound. It starts with an acoustic guitar strumming for two bars before the lyrics start. The instrumentation, which includes a slide guitar, is subdued and very Hawaiian sounding.
The second and third season version was not credited to a particular group in the credits, but according to Russell Johnson in his book Here on Gilligan's Isle, it was performed by a group called The Eligibles. It begins with a mini-fanfare, and has a more traditional pop music sound but with some almost reggae-like underpinnings. The instrumentation is much more prominent in this version, and does not have any slide guitar.
The show's original pilot episode featured a calypso theme song with different lyrics. Notably, the original length of the voyage was "a six-hour ride", not "a three-hour tour."
-
Click HERE (http://www.geocities.com/rickanddarvagossip/gilliganthemesong.html) to read the original pilot episode lyrics and the final lyrics used for the series. This article also says that Sir Lancelot sang the original pilot song but that:
The later version, heard in the second and third seasons, was credited as having been sung by Gerald Fried (a man with a deper voice, who might've been double-tracked). It had a fuller, stereo sound, and was sung in more of a minor chord, than the previous year's. It dumped the hula instrument, but gained more of other instruments, in a fuller orchestral sound.... [One source says that the latter version was sung by a group called The Eligibles; but the group doesn't list Gerald Fried among them. This group consisted of: Stan Farber, Ron Hicklin, Ron Rolla, Bob Zwin. Ron was one of the four backup-singers of the Partridge Family. Gerald Fried IS listed as a composer for many TV series and movies, though; and specifically for Gilligan's Island.]
According to the Wikipedia article (and der Brucer posted this also), George Wyle and Sherwood Schwartz wrote the theme song, not Gerald Fried. ::)

Good morning all.
I had a little bit of a tough time last night but I did manage to sleep.
It just hit me that Mom is somewhere alone in Tampa and for the first time in my life, I don't know exactly where. I very much wanted to go to her.
I also found myself wanting to find some kind of sign from her. I don't know what. I want to feel her but the house feels void of her presence. For as much as she always said this was her house for her to be so completly gone seems wrong.
I feel like she's at the Hospice House and I need to get dressed and go there. I can't believe I'm only going to get to see her one more time.
I hate this. I want everything to be the way it was. Mostly, I want my mother.
I'm ok. Really I am. It's just one of those waves hitting me right now. I'm going to take the dogs to the dog park at ten and then go to Thelma's so we can make our plans to go North.
I have a lot of things to get ready for the trip. I've done several loads of laundry because I never got the chance to do any the last two weeks. The other Hospice house had a laundry you could use but the House didn't seem to.
I also managed to mow the lawn yesterday. We must have had some major rain at the house. I found things filled with water and the food my friend set out for the dogs was ruined.
-
I hope your feeling much, much better, DR TomovOz. Vibes for a speedy recovery! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vibes also for Dear Dog Sherlock. I wish you would have got your wish.
Poor Bear and Sheena are so confused. They are such a comfort. They wanted major cuddles last night. Bear sat and cried last night and I had to tell him that everything will be alright.
I hate that I have to leave them again but after that is over, I hope we will settle down into our "new" life.
I'm glad next weekend is a holiday and I won't have to go back to work until Tuesday.
-
Well, you've read the notes, the notes' goose was cooked, as was the gander's, and now it is time for you to post until the cows comes home - they're out cooking the goose and the gander for a little festive meal.
As Julia Child would say, "First you take a gander..."
-
DR Edisaurus, I don't mind telling you the snoring story.
Before Thelma retired, she used to park in the building. Sometimes she would go down to her car and take a nap at lunch time.
One day I wasn't feeling to good and wanted to lay down on my lunch but since I ride the bus, there was no where for me to go.
Thelma said I could come down with her and take a nap on the front seat of her mini van she would sleep on the back seat.
She set her egg timer and I before you could blink, I was fast asleep. Next thing I knew the egg timer went off and Thelma said, "You had a good sleep." When I asked her how she knew, she said I was snoring enough to shake the building!
She also told me that if I ever wanted to take a nap again, she didnt mind loaning me her car keys and the egg timer for me to go lay down but I would have to take a late or early lunch.
Of course it got told to the others in our section and it's been a joke ever since.
Now that I don't have Thelma's car, I've napped from time to time in the break room and have been known to snore there as well. :)

I know Jack Jones sang the Love Boat theme...
I was involved in a heated debate with several people and we could not figure out who sang the Gilligan's Island theme.
I found this over at IMDB (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0057751/trivia):
The three-man folk singing group The Wellingtons sang the theme song for the first season, but were replaced by a similar sounding group, The Eligibles, for the following seasons. The Wellingtons (plus one) also portrayed 'The Mosquitoes' in a classic episode of the series.
-

I know I will get to JANE EYRE at some point today.

I read the first chapter in HENRY VIII AND HIS COURT yesterday, and it's clear I'm going to enjoy this biography thoroughly. Thanks to DR Elmore for making the recommendation.

Good morning, all! This has been a self-indulgent weekend and I slept late. Again. Tomorrow, I'm back to a schedule because on May 29, whether I want it or not, I've got jury duty. I do not want it. Having been sequestered on a case, I never want to sit on a jury again.
Well, DR Tomovoz has his bad leg and I have my bad back. Travel travels in threes, they say, so I wonder who's coming down with a physical ailment next? Tommy, get well fast! I have to call an orthopedist tomorrow and set up an appointment. Thank God I still have the Ibuprofen.
DR Danise, we'll keep you company as long as you want us to. As a person who grew up in a house full of ghosts, I'm grateful there have been no signs of my dad hanging around. I think no signs of your mother is a very good thing.
The saga of the guidelines continues, and that's the main objective today. I think today I'll listen to Ponchielli's La Gioconda as I work. The plot is insane but the music is glorious.

I would like to hear Sir Lancelot's version of the GILLIGAN'S ISLAND theme. I am a fan of his.
-
TBS interviewed the writers of the song when TBS was doing a new version of it for their GILLIAN'S ISLAND reality show.
Yes, you heard me right...and it ran for 2 seasons! This was the show that gave me hope that reality shows would soon be a thing of the past. (Boy, was I wrong!)
Anyway, the songwriters whipped the song out on a few hours. Seems like they said The Professor and Mary Ann weren't cast yet, so they wrote the line "and the rest". I should ask the producer who interviewed them.

Ginny is that the mattress from memory foam? If so it will make my back worse.
We decided to hold off getting a new mattress once we knew a puppy was in our future. We figured if the puppy had an accident on the bed, which he didn’t, let it be on an old mattress. Plus the air mattress is lower to the bed & easier for jumping on and off of. Now that Sherlock is big enough to jump on & off of a higher bed, he really shouldn’t. I guess I’ll have to live with this one a while longer until we figure things out.

Hi all.
I'm back from the dog park. I think B & S had a very good time. I did notice that poor Bear seemed to be hurting so I didn't throw as many sausers as I normally do.
He hasn't had his meds for almost a week so I think his hip may be really bothering him. Poor baby. When we get back to "normal" I will make sure he gets his pills each day like he used to.
I had another moment when I brought the dogs home. I'm so used to bring them in and yelling, "Mom, we're home!". And then going into her room to tell her all about the dogs that were there and what adventures B & S had.
Well, I have to get ready to go over to Thelma's house. As soon as we get the details hammered out I will post them. I confess I peeked at a few of the airline web sites so I could see what seats would be available and it looks scary. They are filling up fast.
I just about have to be next to a window so I can see out and there are not very many left in a price range that I can afford or at a good time for Thelma to drive to the hotel. Yikes!
-
You beat me to it, Der B!

Does anyone ever make bread pudding muffins?

We bailed on the plan after a week and a half as it was making us crazy. However, we learned from the week or so that we were on the diet, so we kept up portion size and excercise and such and have both done very well and continue to watch what we eat and excercise every other day or so. It really has been life changing, we have good days and bad days but then again, that's life. We're still making an attempt and it's working out well.
Thanks for asking, though :)

DerB & Edi-LOL. Keith did try getting some steps (why he even thought they would work I have no idea). They are way too small for Sherlock. I figure I don’t weigh that much more than he does & stood on the bottom step. I thought it was going to collapse under me.
To protect Sherlock’s joints we are keeping his weight on the low side, still he weighed 92 pounds on Thursday.
-
Matthew you have been busy. :D I'm not a trifle fan but the butterscotch one sounds good.
It was a risk, but it worked well. Sugar free butterscotch pudding, pound cake brushed with butterscotch schnapps, mandarin oranges (it sounds strange, but it was FANTASTIC) lite cool whip, and crushed Werther's Originals candy. It was light and tasty.
-
I have to go and get redressed (you can't go to a dog park and come home clean) to go to Thelma's at two.
Talk with you all later.
-
Danise I feel the opposite about a window seat & get sick when I look out the window.
Having a seat assignment doesn’t guarantee you really will sit there. On my trip to & from Pittsburgh I got bumped from my seats three times. I just hope you get a seat at all in your price range, and that Thelma can fly standby as planned.

how did the gig go last night? Anything interesting happen onstage or anyone interesting in the crowd?
Thanks for asking! Well...
MY numbers went fine.
The accompanist got lost a few times on some of the other performer's numbers, so there were a number of train wrecks [where is DR JoseSPiano when you need him?]. In the case of Tom Rakewells' first aria, the accompanist really couldn't play it at all...but the tenor bravely forged ahead, anyway [DR FJL - that was Dan E., a real pro!].
No one particularly interesting in the audience, but we shared the bill with 12 year old Eamon Foley, a whipper-snapper with an impressive list of Broadway credits already.

Well... I slept in too today. Until noon. -I guess all that running around NYC yesterday in the drizzle took more out of me than I thought.
Of course, I woke up to an absolutely glorious day weather-wise. Danise, I found this on American Airlines website I'm sure the other airlines have discounts as well:
Q: Do you have any emergency or bereavement rates/discounts?
A: We do offer emergency fares for different situations. You cannot obtain these fares on AA.com and will have to call American Airlines Reservations at 800-433-7300.
Was Danise going to Thelma's to make the reservations? I don't have her phone number, but I hope she knows to call about this, it can be a lot cheaper...

-
DR singdaw - I've played a few auditions for him, and, yes, Eamon Foley is most definitely a whipper-snapper. :)
-
DR singdaw - There's nothing easy to play in The Rake's Progress. Although, Tom's aria is one of the easier ones. However, I will more than gladly let someone else take over the keyboard if Ann's scena is put in front of me. "I go, I go to him...." -Well, I'm going too! YIKES!

DR Danise - As others have stated, be sure to ask about bereavement fares.
-
DR Tomovoz - Glad to know the stairs are OK. ;)
-
DR Danise, I left you a message about booking flights...thanks for the number DR Jane, it was good to talk to you!
-
A lazy morning, I must say. Must now go and buy some more allergy pills because I'm out but my allergy is in.
-
I have a friend who used to sing Stairway to Gilligan's Island. The GI theme to the tune of Stairway to Heaven...he would say "Skipper makes me wonder" "Hey, hey little buddy" and other comments, but otherwise the song fit and it was pretty funny
-
I am officially disgusted with my hair today...that is all
-
Callie is really trying to get my attention, not sure why, but I'm going to sign off for awhile and play with her

Val Kilmer (is Moses) had a staff that would be quite handy for me today.
Since you are in pain today, I will skip the obvious response.
-
Since you are in pain today, I will skip the obvious response.
But remember, there's "bad pain" and "good pain".
-
I hope your feeling much, much better, DR TomovOz.
DR Danise, thank you for keeping us in the loop at what is such a difficult time for you. We all care so much about you, and it is such a relief when we see that you have posted.
DC Angel and Nicholas send their hugs and kisses not only to you, but to Bear and Sheena, too (as long as they don't have to deliver them personally to the dogs)
God bless you, sweetie!
-
Dear DR Tomovoz:
What were you doing step-dancing at your age, anyways?
Just wondering.
Fortunately, it didn't turn out to be break dancing.
-
Which of the three is supposed to be my twin?
Johnny Depp? ;)
-
Thank you for the vibes everyone. It's 5.30 am here. I have not disturbed DP Colin and crawled (YEP - hands and knees) to DR Jose's room - sort of dressed (sans sock on left foot), made it to the kitchen, made a cup of coffee and now here. My late dear mother would be proud - at 80 she would probably have crawled to wherever so as not to disturb others!
-
DR Tomovoz---that's what you get for trying to go UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE!
Didn't Sandy go on to play a role in Annie?
-
So much pain.
That was watching Val Kilmer (is Moses).
Yes indeed DRs TCB and Jose!. (I remember)
-
I don't usually wander blindly into the area of politics or religion at this site (with occasional exceptions). However, a friend of mine sent me a web address for a blog that recently took up the issue of Jerry Falwell and his death. It is quite long and is obviously not something that everyone will enjoy (or agree with); but it certainly makes some very strong points.
Having said that, enter at your own risk.

GREAT news DR Cillaliz
Yes, it is. I'm a huge Armistad Maupin fan.
-
Calibration plans were changed at the last minute. Now, I'm to go over there at 5, so I have about 45 minutes to play on the internet before I have to head out.
-
Thanks DR TCB. I had never heard of Falwell before he died! We do have a "religious right" here - fortunately not with the same influence.
-
I am officially disgusted with my hair today...that is all
I am disgusted with my hair most days. So I can certainly empathize.
-
I began my afternoon by watching BILLY ROSE'S DIAMOND HORSESHOE. Some famous songs came from this (I was familiar with them even if I didn't know the movie). Pretty predictable plot and too long for what it was. The color ended up being better than it first looked but still not perfect. The audio was full of hiss and cranked up too loud to try to compensate (nice stereo channeling, however).
Anyway, I didn't love it enough to burn it to a DVD-R. Funny how in ten years William Gaxton had gone from Broadway leading man to this portly middle aged performer.
-
Is anyone here know a lot about computer networking? The new office I'm moving into has free wireless networking. The security is by MAC numbers, but I don't see how that stops others in the building from getting into my computer if they are on the wireless network. Am I missing something? I'm considering paying for high speed and setting up my own network.
-
Next, I watched another episode of PLANET EARTH. This was #6 in the set - "Icec Worlds" about life on either end of the planet. Quite wonderful as always.
-
Today for me will be a day of watching TV and catching up on all the shows that I need to watch. So, I'm just watched "the View" with Sara Ramirez (from "Grey's Anatomy") and now will watch the "Lost" recap episdode. After that will be the last two or three episodes of "Desperate Housewives," an episode of "Psych" and the last FOUR episodes of "Grey's Anatomy." I've got a lot to catch up on!
-
I loved that even in "The Night Listener" there was a character that had been present in "Tales".
-
Since I had the Blu-ray player all warmed up, I put in CASINO ROYALE and watched the first 40 minutes of it again. I got through the chase on the fuel truck and the subsequent explosion. Exciting and enjoyable. I will likely finish watching it when I get back from helping my friend with his HD-DVD/TV calibration.
-
Since my prime time shows don't begin until 9, that should still leave me time to see JANE EYRE tonight.
-
Back from some errands. Shortly I will be having a meeting.
-
DS Rob and I are back from the TravelSmith outlet, where I found, in yellow, the microfiber shirt/jacket that I like so much (already had it in red, turquoise, and lilac). We tried to go to Izzy's for a late lunch, but I'd forgotten they're closed on Sundays. Rob was getting pretty tired, so we just came home and ate leftover pizza.
-
Welcome nineteen GUESTS. Apparently May is going to be a slow month for haineshisway.com regulars but a record month for GUESTS. There's something very backwards about that.

I'm off to calibrate a TV/HD_DVD. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there will be one switch that hasn't been flipped that will straighten everything out. We'll see.

Last night was the Vixter's dance recital, our across the street neighbor has two girls who also attend the same dance school... One of them was there but the little one, the 9 year old was not....
I didn't see her family in the crush afterwards but I knew the little one had been feeling poorly as of late, so after church I stopped by to see how she was feeling
She was hooked up to a machine.
Apparently she was diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks ago.... I don't know what type, I was told but I was a bit numb and it went right out of my head
all I know is that she has started chemo and soon will have radiation therapy
all I know is that she is the sweetest little thing that have known since she was a bay and all I know it's it's just not right
your strongest vibes for my Sarah

No, it was Chuck E. Baby, but he sang it to the tune of Stairway to Heaven. This one is the tune of Gilligan's Island with the accompaniment of Stairway to Heaven....oh now he changes it.... Not quite the same. Chuck did it back in the very early 90s...I liked his better
-
Vibes and prayers for vixmom's neighbor Sarah

Wow, I just did a Google search and it turns out MTV signed a deal for Chucks cd of originals and they are using it in a Real World episode. That's pretty cool. I used to sing with him at his jam nights and sometimes with the whole band for a song or two back in the early 90s. What fun that after all this time things are going well.
Cool, I ordered the CD...what fun!

Red potatoes are roasted. Chicken is currently roasting in the oven - garlic/spices/olive oil/butter paste rubbed under the skin. -And while the chicken is resting, I'll place the potatoes back in the oven to warm them up. A green salad on the side...

DR Cillaliz - As long as you have some sort of personal security/encyption set up on your compuer(s), you should be fine. Just think of a larger office where everyone has their own computer. Each person, ideally, should be able to password protect their own computers, files.
When I'm out and about and am using a public WiFi signal, I use a web-based security system called Wibiki. www.wibiki.com It's a helper application that makes connection to public WiFi networks easier and safer. -They use it in Bryant Park. If you check out their FAQ under Support on their website, you should find a basic answer to the whole security question.

Had a very nice alumni association meeting - lots of great stuff coming and also endless work, but I think we're going to turn this into something really special.

DR Ginny - That TravelSmith store/site looks pretty cool. I had never heard of them before you posted the link. I may have to investigate further. ;)
DR Jose - The outlet store, typically, was full of items sized Extra Small Petite or Triple Extra Large, but being persistent paid off for me. I've shopped from the catalog and online quite a bit.

I'm gearing up for SOPRANOS at nine. I'm expecting a lot of violence tonight. There was an interview with Steve Van Zandt iin one of this week's issue of the New York Post or Daily News and he implied that no one is left standing after the final episode. He said if they brought the cast back for a movie, it would have to be a prequel.
My eyes are tired; I've been writing at the computer all afternoon. These guidelines are no fun.

DR SWW - No spatchcocking. Just a few slices of bacon over the breast during the first 45 minutes of cooking. It acts a "moisturizer", an insulator, and de-browner. And that bacon is pretty tasty too once it's off the bird. I crumbled it over the salads.
-
Off to see the very talented Lauren Molina's cabaret act. Really looking forward to it.

Well, it's a start...

:)

In honor of Grey Garden's I had corn on the cob tonight....Jerry would have liked it

I intended to get my materials ready for a presentation I'm giving on Wednesday noon. I just can't seem to get myself to do it. It won't be hard, but it's got a lot of immigration law in it, so I have to make sure I remember what I've learned. It will be good practice. ..Ah, I'll do it tomorrow
-
Hi all. I can't stay for long because I have so much to do to get ready for the "trip". I don't want to go to Pittsbugh. It makes things so--final.
I can't thank all of you enough for the caring and support. I read about VixMom's Sarah. It really puts me to shame. Here I go on and on about myself and there is a little girl who really needs all of our vibes and prayers.
Here is the way the "trip" worked out. Thelma and I are leaving on Tuesday at about 8:20 AM. We should arrive at approx 10:30 AM. Thelma will pick up the rental car and we will go directly to the Funeral Home to make the final arrangements. Then we will go to the hotel.
Now this depends on Thelma being able to get on the same flight as I am. She is flying on stand by. The next flight won't get to Pittsburgh until after five. In that case, I will have to take a cab to the funeral home and hope Thelma gets that next flight up. She may not even make it until the next day!
Anyway, I am allow the family (should there be any) one last courtesy by waiting to have the funeral on Thursday. That will allow the announcement to be put in the paper on Wednesday. If anyone shows up great. If not, so be it. I’ve made two phone calls to answering machines where I left a message and sent 2 emails. My heart is clear because I did try my very best.
Anyway, the funeral itself will be on Thursday, May 24th. What time is yet to be determined by my meeting with the funeral home.
I’ll go over to Thelma’s house tomorrow night so we can have her husband take us to the airport. I will be catching a shuttle bus back to Thelma’s house to pick up the car on Friday night.
And that is that.
I stopped off tonight on the way home from Thelma’s house and bought myself a good steak dinner. I haven’t had a real meal in about three weeks. Hospice food was ok but it was hospital food. I thought I should eat something since I only had the eggs/bacon/toast on Friday night and a TV dinner last night and nothing today until I stopped to eat.
I must say I really enjoyed that steak.
Oh and I think I got a really good deal from Obitz. I phoned in my request after looking it up on line. It would have been about $750.00 but when I explained the reason for the trip, the guy gave me a price of $630.00. That included roundtrip airfare and the hotel for 3 nights. Not bad.
-
Non stop airfare to boot.
-
Forgive me but I'm playing wussburger. I have so much to do tomorrow before I head to Thema's house.
Have a wonderful evening. I will try to post sometime tomorrow but if I don't, please don't worry. It's just that I'm trying to do a million and one things. :)
-
That sounds like a good plan, Danise. Keep yourself busy.
-
I am reading a book. A mystery.

Glad you got things arranged to this point. Did you get my message?

They are so excited to go to church every week. They usually dress themselves and sneak out of the house very early and come over to go with us. Today my DH had to send them back home because they were an hour early.
Mr. Goldstein has a hard time keeping track of them. They escape and come over fairly often.

Mr. Goldstein has a hard time keeping track of them. They escape and come over fairly often.
They probably do each other's hair as well.

Be prepared and scared and watch this:

DR Ginny - That TravelSmith store/site looks pretty cool. I had never heard of them before you posted the link. I may have to investigate further. ;)
I didn't know TravelSmith HAD an outlet store. Hmmmm. Almost worth a trip to Ohio!
-
Will we never get to page ten?
-
I finished DVD one and am now trying to figure out what I can watch that's not too too long. The movie I watched was very interesting - Night Of The Generals - I'd never seen it before.
-
Yes DR EDISAURUS - the HEATH link was very very very nice.
I'm amazed at how many pictures they had to work with. The quality was great and editing was very well done.

Yikes, what a way to start page 10.
But at least it got us there!
-
Danise, dear
We are all here for you in your time of need... I send a hug...
You did your best to contact the family and that is all you can do. I am glad you treated yourself to a steak dinner. A person needs to do that.
I think you got a pretty good deal also.
I bid you safe journey vibes on Tuesday dear... and many hugs...

I'm listening to one of my favorite radio shows: Little Steven's Underground Garage, which is a syndicated show and always well-programmed!
Tonight's focus is on Bob Dylan: http://www.929dave.fm/

i am eating homemade brownies!
-
Ginny, u can bring your ice cream here...

Congrats to Rupert Holmes!

DH and I decided we wanted to see something different so we went to a nearby town, about 1/2 an hour north for dinner.
An old mill, built in the 1870's had been converted into a restaurant since we'd last been there. We hadn't heard anything about it but it looked nice so we decided to give it a try.
Wow! It was so beautiful inside and the food was wonderful! A splendid example of adaptive reuse done right:
http://www.acwortholdmill.com/
I had the best green beans I'd ever had in my life and also splurged on a lobster casserole, and DH had a huge ribeye. He also had collard greens...again, the best I've ever had, and we both had whipped sweet potatoes. For all that, drinks and dessert it was surprisingly cheap: 48 bucks.
The staff was nice and the dress was very casual, since it's near a big lake. My kind of place!
Since we didn't go out on our anniversary, we decided this would qualify as our celebration dinner. It has been ages since we've had a meal that was such a delightful surprise! (Considering we weren't at Jose's that is...)
-
Will we never get to page ten?
In a jiffy.
-
Got the set and HD-DVD calibrated correctly and then spent some time visiting, so I didn't have as much time to view things before 9 p.m. as I had planned.
-
I did have time to watch JANE EYRE. Despite just a few artifacts with the transfer, it looks absolutely stunning: grayscale, black levels, and SO sharp. I really loved it.
Since Nick and Julie did a commentary on the disc, I have to assume he either produced this disc or was a VIP in getting it done. Many congratulations! It's a grand addition to my classics collection.
-
I watched the documentary on Orson Welles and director Robert Stevenson, too. That also contained some really interesting facts I wasn't aware of before watching.
-
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES certainly stretched plotlines for all the major ladies and left us with the summer to ponder what Bree was up to, how Edie would fare, what Gaby is going to do about her situation, and Lynette's cancer treatment.
The Susan story was very sweet.
-
BROTHERS & SISTERS had another very emotional episode while also providing some funny bits and leaving us with some interesting plot strands to ponder over the summer.
-
Tomorrow I'll have THE TUDORS, ENTOURAGE, and THE SOPRANOS waiting for me on the DVR.
-
Welcome twenty GUESTS. Who are you people?
-
Hi again, I am sorry I dumped that on you all, and thank you all for your vibes and prayers. I will ask that all who engage in the practice of prayer keep remember her and her family.
Danise, in no way is your pain diminished because of another's.... you are grieving amd you are entitled to your grief, you are doing everything the way yor mom wanted it... a lot of people would have taken the easy way out and just kept her in town.
I admire all you have done for your Mom over these years, I only hope that when I am confronted with this situation that I am able to meet it with the same dignity and responsibilty and attention to needs and desires that you have shown.
My prayers and VIBES that your Thelma gets to travel with you

BTW the Vixter does not know about Sarah yet.... the parents have asked that it not be shared with her until school lets out next month... it's hard info for a kid to keep bottled up and they don't want it all over the school right now
let Sarah share the news herself when she is ready to...
in fact Sara"h was the one who told me, she was very matter of fact about it and really just annoyed that she has to have this backpack that holds the machine that was pumping something into her all the time, it's heavy and it's hot... and the port in her chest means she can't go swimming (which she loves)
her words "Cancer Sucks"
she said she's allowed to use that phrase in regard to the disease...
its still off limits for referring to anything else
so of course she repeated it a few more times to enjoy the "wickedness" of it ;D

I'm watching the Drama Desk Awards live online, boy are they running long. They were supposed to be over 15 minutes ago and they have just gotten through best featured actor and actress. Yeah Debra Monk! (best featured for Drama Desk)

Tomorrow evening the Vixter wants to audition for a part in a summer (teen) production of Evita

Vibes to Vixter

leg breaks for Victoria
Thanks :-*
-
Edi.... I just checked out the menu... good thing that restaurant is such a long drive from here or I'd need to order some of thise triple extra large clothes from DR Ginny's new neighborhood outlet store
-
Well I must to bed... it's been a long day at the end of a very long week
-
Good Evening!
Ah, a nice night of TV with the roomies.
And, yes, lots to ponder over the summer regarding "Brothers & Sisters".
-
DR Matthew - So... What are you going to do with the kit that came with your diet plan? ;)
-
Tomorrow evening the Vixter wants to audition for a part in a summer (teen) production of Evita
That doesn't sound quite right, a "teen" version "Evita". Along the same lines as a certain Children's theatre around here that has done "Miss Saigon" and "Tommy", doesn't seem right. Broken legs anyhow to the Vixter

Hi all..... Hi dear Esteemed BK -- .... I just wanted to pop in for a minute, as I don't think I'll be staying up too late this evening. I have a full work day tomorrow, and have to get up fairly early.
I've been in the oddest kind of mood for most of the afternoon, and it has gone on into this evening. Don't really know what it is......just kind of odd and unsettled??
Anyway, I need to think about my NYC trip a little later this summer, things like the Little Pie Shop (?), some good company, some good dinners, maybe a visit to Levain's,..........just enjoyable and fun things to do.
-
DR Matthew - So... What are you going to do with the kit that came with your diet plan? ;)
We still use the excercise portion of the plan which is mostly what came with the kit. Also, did you get the email I sent you last week?
-

I saw one of the first high school productions of Evita many years ago. It was done in Fairfax, VA, by a high school known for their very good productions. And, lo and behold, it was an amazing production. It was not only a good high school production, it was just a great production all around. Subsequently, I saw them tackle and succeed with productions of Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods and The Secret Garden! -And they had killer pits too! -All high school students, no ringers.

No doubt that high school's can pull off productions like that. My comment was more about content then anything else.

Gotcha. Well, this high school also put on Agned of God. Talk about challenging material!

Wow! We're more in the BYE BYE BIRDIE mode here. (Not that there's anything wrong with that...)
-
Goodnight Edi.... your "splurge dinner" sounded FABULOUS !
"Night night Cilla.....hope the move into the new office is continuing along smoothly.
Sweet dreams Jose .....Do you have audition or rehearsal days coming up this coming weeK? I hope all is going wonderfully.
:D ::)
-
Heading down to bed now.
Good night!
-
Did I?
Hmm... I think I did... Hmmm....
That's good, at least I know I have your right address.
-
So Jose - were you supposed to be at Lauren Molina's act at the Duplex?
Really spectacular act, great mix of new songs and old.
She is really an amazing songwriter as well, based on the material which she mentioned was her own.

Thanks, DR MusicGuy - I just have one day this week, Tuesday - more Evita. Then I think I'm heading down to Fairfax and Richmond for the holiday weekend. I think. ;)
-
That's good, at least I know I have your right address.
Yeah... I believe I saved it to my computer, and meant to respond to it sooner. Alas, it looks like I'll be responding to it later.

Was tonight the first or second night? I think she's doing it again next Sunday night. Or not.
I just remember talking with some friends, and we were all interested in catching her act, but... ???

~~~~~~~AUDITION VIBES TO THE VIXTER!!!~~~~~~~~~~
I don't think I can make it to 400 tonight, so I must WUSSBURGER.
Nytol!
-
Last night was the Vixter's dance recital, our across the street neighbor has two girls who also attend the same dance school... One of them was there but the little one, the 9 year old was not....
I didn't see her family in the crush afterwards but I knew the little one had been feeling poorly as of late, so after church I stopped by to see how she was feeling
She was hooked up to a machine.
Apparently she was diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks ago.... I don't know what type, I was told but I was a bit numb and it went right out of my head
all I know is that she has started chemo and soon will have radiation therapy
all I know is that she is the sweetest little thing that have known since she was a bay and all I know it's it's just not right
your strongest vibes for my Sarah
~~~Super Vibes for Vixmom's little friend, Sarah and her Family!!~~~
-
Will we never get to page twelve?
-
Excellent vibes and xylophones to Sarah.

I agree with you. Of course, my initial reaction to Edie's "situation" was:
OMG!!!! :o

Tonight, I watched four, count 'em, FOUR hours of "Grey's Anatomy," one and a half episode of "Reno 911." The DVR crapped out half way through the next to the last episode while it was recording...it has to go back. This is the third time that this has happened! :P

How many hours is it supposed to hold?
-
I don't know why I can't sleep, but I can't.
-
How many hours is it supposed to hold?
Up to 60 hours, I think. It only holds up to 15 hours of high def shows, though.
-
But I never record HD shows, so that's not a problem.
-
Right now, it's about 64% filled. ::)
-
I suppose I should tape what I want to keep, so that I can turn it in and get a new one.
-
What is really strange for me is I have very little knowledge of the evening shows due to working during the year. I am hopelessly lost when I have day hours.
Oddly the only shows I have some familiarity are are Ugly betty and Grey's anatomy. Never did get into Desperate Housewives
-
I fear I would be hopelessly lost the day I can afford a dvr and high def....
-
Right now I would settle for a converter for my old tv to do Closed Captioning. My tv is not CC ready. I bought it in 1989 and the law requiring the chips was not passed signed into law until 1990.
-
I had a small Black and White telly taht had closed captionine but it bit the dust over two years ago. I turned it on and a lovely plume of smoke came from it.
-
We now slid into page 12!
-
Stupid stupid stupid Time Warner!!! Everything just went out for the last fifteen minutes. It finally went back up about thirty seconds ago - naturally you can't get anyone on the phone, nor would they acknowledge the problem. I HATE these corporations. Anyway, I'm posting the notes right now, just in case.
