Well, you've read the notes, the notes needed the Heimlich Maneuver, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they've just taken some Love Potion Number 9 and are putting the MOOves on each other.
-
And the word of the day is: HODIERNAL!
-
. . .and I'M FINALLY THE FIRST POST AFTER BK!
-
George, if only they had those Velamints in trout flavor....
-
Congratulations to DR Arnold Brockman on his millstone.
-
And I'm glad to hear that Callie is home and resting. Poor little thing.
-
Anything else I might say would just be a rant, so I will spare you.
-
Had a busy, busy day on Saturday (with only two calls from the restaurant - neither one, thankfully, asking me to come in on my day off): I had my three large loads of laundry done by noon, so I went downtown to visit the used dvd store and trade in some dvds I'd never watch again. Used-wise, I picked up two of the FOX Elvis movies I don't have (now I have two FOX Elvis films), LOVE ME TENDER and FLAMING STAR, new-wise I picked up WITCHFINDER GENERAL and finally, CULT CAMP CLASSICS' Sci-Fi collection.
Then I went to one fresh food market for dinners of Chicken Burritos, Shoreline Sushi, Angel Hair Pasta with Four Cheeses and a nicely tossed salad.
Following dinner, I went to the grocery store and got our weekend order.
Then settled down to watch WITCHFINDER GENERAL, which I loved as a kid, when it was still titled THE CONQUERER WORM. Quite a bleak flick, to be sure, but, incredibly acted and directed. Tomorrow, perhaps, I shall listen to its commentary track.
Then, even though I had recently rented it from Netflix, took in THE ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN, which always seems to brighten my days (or nights).
Now, I must go to bed and finish reading Bentley Little's THE IGNORED; I'm on a Bentley Little kick, finding him less of a hack than Stephen King, and a truly gifted writer (who oftimes needs a good editor).
-
DR Arnold Brockman has always seemed like a god to me.
CONGRATS!
-
Ain't nothin' goin' on but the rant
-
Anyone remember the great Hamlisch maneuver sketch from Saturday Night Live?
-
I think Mah Jong is like dominos and bridge...
If you've ever read Agatha Christie's The Murder of Roger Ackroyd - her characters have a Mah Jong party...
Brief sentence of object of the game from Wikipedia:
The object of the game is to build complete suits - or melds - usually of threes, from either 13 or 16 tiles. The first person to achieve this goal wins the game. The winning tile completes the player's set of either 14 or 17 tiles.
-
The computer version of Mah Jong (or spelled Jongg) is basically a matching game. I don't think that it's anything like the real tile game.
-
I've written many times of my love for The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd - as good as it gets, if you ask me. I don't remember the Mah Jong game, but it's been at least seven years since I've read it (I used to read it once a year).
-
Will we never get to page two?
-
I must abed before I fall asleep at the computer.
-
. . .and I'M FINALLY THE FIRST POST AFTER BK!
Better than being the first post After JC! ;)
-
And I'm glad to hear that Callie is home and resting. Poor little thing.
Callie would LOVE the trout flavoured Velamints I'm sure, to keep going with the "flow"!! :D

Dr. Shepherd and his sister....and 2 other characters I don't remember... play and gossip about the case.
Rough quote:
"In China, the players put down their tiles so fast it sounds like bird chirping."
For some minutes we played like the Chinese.
I think Caroline wins in the end...
I have an audio book, somewhere, of Robin Bailley reading this. He does a wonderful job.

Good morning to the King of Toyland.
-
Good morning, DR tomovoz! and good morning, all! With all the major bits of Brain surgery finished, I'm down to "The Brain Tap," and that will be finished by tonight. I have a breakfast date with the wonderful Susanna Moross Tarjan, daughter of GOLDEN APPLE's Jerome Moross, then a trek to Toyland for several hours. I will then hie myself back here for work on the last Brain number, followed by some DVD viewing: I've got my things from Friday waiting and yesterday I received Seasons 1 & 2 of the outrageous IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, surely one of the most ironic titles in tv history.
When I was in college, I wrote a one-act musical about political corruption set in the 1920s in Chicago (about 6 years before the Kander & Ebb musical). In the whorehouse scene, there was a "Mah Jong Tango."
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And, boy, did I zonk out last night!
I was already feeling quite sleepy around 8:00, so by 8:30 I just decided to lie down on the couch, and if I fell asleep, I fell asleep. Well, next thing I knew it was 11:30, and then I somehow, gradually dragged myself to my bedroom and bed where I promptly fell asleep (again). Guess I needed the sleep.

DR Jane - Yes, I did tip the cab driver - but only a dollar, not my usual two.
-
DR Jane - I hope Iona is safe and sound back home by the time you're reading this post. -Are there any plans for her to come back for a visit over the course of the next year? Or for Craig to go visit her?
-
DR Jane (again) - I also keep meaning to ask regarding Craig's medical school applications... Why so many? I think you originally listed at least 8 different schools, which sort of seems like a lot to me. Heck, I can't imagine racking up all those application fees? Or is it "normal" to apply to that many schools? -I only ask because my roommate's boyfriend applied for a couple of medical schools last year. He only applied to four schools, and he seemed swamped with just completing those four applications.

Etc., etc., etc.

Oohhh.. A high of 68 degrees for today. :)
*Although, I do suspect that we'll probably get some Indian summer days over the next couple of weeks. It wouldn't be late September or early October without them. ;)
-
Well, today's rehearsal of Mary Poppins will consist of a review of everything we've taught the Janes over the past two weeks. I still have a few hours until rehearsal begins, but I want to get down there a bit early just to get warmed up. All of the "stuff" is finally starting to sink in and settle into my fingers and brain. It's just a lot of stuff, a lot of music - and probably more than I thought it would be initially. But little by little, number by number, it's all starting to feel comfortable - well, at least more comfortable.
-
I'm up, I'm up, after a good night's sleep.
-
I'm just sitting here like so much fish wondering why we're STILL on page two?
-
Isn't the HODIERNAL the dance that Maria and the Captain did at the party?

Things are hopping here now that DR ARNOLDBROCKMAN has arrived in the HHW Heavens....yes, it is the Heaven Hop....with Cole Porter on piano.
-
THE SUNSHINE BOYS is over and done, set is struck, costumes gone, props put away.
We had a wonderful audience last night - with laughs and much applause at the end.
So my summer theatre is over....and since I am not cast in STUFF HAPPENS, I don't know if I will be doing any theatre until next June, time will tell.

Love Potion No. 9 is indeed guitar polish.
Not to be taken internally.
-
Working today. But then I have a couple of days with NO WORK and NO PLAY....just to myself!
-
Will we never get to page two?
Certainly.
-
Good morning!
The cool has arrived! A/C off (I hope for good but definitely for today)! I am happy.
-
I always had a mixtuire of sadness and exhilaration at the end of a show. Sad especially if I loved the show and the people, but usualy happy to have nights to myself without the constant worry over lines, performance, etc.
-
Last night DR der Brucer wrote:
"Our local COMCAST has BBC America and Torchwood in its On-Demand service - so we can rewatch episodes any time in the next month."
Time-Warner has it, too, but as Saturday night is usually such a wasteland anyway, I don't mind either watching it "live" or, as I did last night, recording it at 9 and watching it at 10 and speeding through commercial breaks.
-
Yes, the Emmys are tonight, and as probably the biggest TV fan on this forum, I will be watching to see who wins the awards. I will not be watching on-line, however, so I'll be back here after the show with some thoughts. No spoilers as I know it won't be carried live on both coasts at the same time like the Oscars.
-
This morning, I watched 2 1/2 episodes of BROTHERS & SISTERS. I'm wanting to finsh the set by the end of the afternoon so I can possibly get to ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS tonight before the Emmys start at 8.
I only have 2 more episodes to watch of B&S before diving in the bonus features. Then I'l be able to comment on that unaired episode that is contained in the package.
-
I may watch the Emmy Awards tonight....but since I don't watch a LOT of network/cable series television I won't know who a lot of the people are!

It's the favorite to win most of its categories tonight. Since it's the last chance the Academy will have to honor it, most predictions are leaning in its direction.
And I'd have no problem with the show and Gandolfini winning again. I think other actresses have done better work than Edie Falco this season, but she did get robbed the last time she was nominated and didn't win, so I could see them giving her another one. (She already won three for the show.)

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers.
Today's worship service will be conducted by a youth group from the District. It shall be a train wreck, I think.
Next week's speaker will be an ecologist from our congregation speaking about God's beautiful world. And all of his information for the service was awaiting me when I checked my email this morning.
-
Well, I went ahead and cleaned up myself, and did some cleaning in my bedroom as well. -I figured it was time for me to unpack my luggage from last week's trip down to Charlotte. It was only one bag, but it was taking up precious real estate sitting in the middle of my floor. And now that that's done, I'm off to rehearsal... Well, to practice, then rehearsal. -Although, I'm tempted to look into Times Square just to see what the crowd is like for today's "Broadway on Broadway" concert. And the resulting traffic snares. ;) In any case...
Laters...

We had some kind of wacky weather pass by us last night -- but it left the air cool this morning (82F). I went for a walk to get some fresh ground coffee beans to make at church today, where I shall smile and greet people, not warning them of the coming train wreck.

Bobby Breen. Oh, my. I have a cassette here from a radio show where Deanna Durbin and Bobby Breen performed together. It was clearly in the 1930s as Deanna's soprano was still light without the added maturity that came later. Breen's vibrato is so thick that he sounds almost like an old woman trying to sing at the upper end of her vocal register.
-
I'm heading back down now to finish the BROTHERS & SISTERS episodes and then get to the bonus features. The bloopers should be fun. There are also deleted scenes which I'm looking forward to seeing.

While I was tracking the flight last night the plane suddenly stopped gaining any distance, making me rather nervous until I checked again & the plane had gone backwards. Hmm... "The Emmys" are on tonight...
Who will be watching? -I think I'm going to be seeing Zorba at The York tonight.
Is it "Live" to both coasts? Will spoilers have to be posted?
Who do you want to win? Who should have been nominated? Who should not have been nominated?
Etc., etc., etc.
Christopher Meloni should have, at least, been nominated for LAW AND ORDER - SUV (or whatever it is called) He is actually a fine actor and he has had some very impressive story lines the last few years.
-
As far as school applications are concerned, I applied to eight law school lo these 28 years ago, and there was no real logic to where I was accepted vs. wait-listed vs. rejected. I got accepted at Harvard (that acceptance oddly came very early and before any other responses, so incredibly that became my "safety school" as other responses came in), Stanford (which actively tried to persuade me to go there after the intial acceptance letter), NYU, Michigan, Chicago - but wait-listed or rejected by Columbia, Cornell and Yale. Everyone thought it was logical that Yale would be more selective than Harvard, but the folks at my college were stymied by Columbia and Cornell not accepting soemone who was quickly accepted into Harvard. The Cornell result especially was a mystery to my college's Graduate School placement office rep. In short, unless you're a sure thing for admission, you want to have choices, and there's no saying what goes through the minds of admissions committees.
-
I guess I have to have a telephonic meeting in a few minutes.
-
Then I'll shower and be on my way to the Acorn to sit and watch people work.
-
I shall also wander around backstage and try to imagine how everyone will be negotiating quick changes and such.
-
Good luck, today, Bruce!

I always had a mixtuire of sadness and exhilaration at the end of a show. Sad especially if I loved the show and the people, but usualy happy to have nights to myself without the constant worry over lines, performance, etc.
I usually feel a little bit of sadness at the end of a production, epecially if it has been a wonderful experience (cast-wise or play-wise). Still that doesn't really explain the last night of HELLO, DOLLY. When I started to sing the reprise of "Hello, Dolly" to my dear friend Sharry (as Dolly); I looked at her and she was just starting to tear-up. When we got to the little dance break we were both crying, and when I looked in the wings I could see the rest of the cast there, starting to get a little misty. By the time we got to Dolly's entrance in the curtain call, the whole cast was crying. During the final bow I think we were pretty much holding each other up, and I could see that part of the audience was crying, as well.
Looking back, it was really silly, and rather unprofessional, but it still ranks as one of my most memorable closing nights.
-
I may even watch the Emmys.

Hello.
And goodbye.
I must hie myself to the Broad Way for a two-show day. I'm not looking forward to it...

I hope Craig will get a a decent & rewarding paying job once he completes the Masters program at Carnegie-Mellon :)
If Bryan gets accepted for next year he will be almost 32 years old when he begins medical school. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why the schools accept a student so he is doing everything possible to get in someplace this time around. He should really have applied to a few DO schools but didn’t have the time.
It is fairly normal to apply to ten to twenty schools. Many applicants begin to drop out of schools as the process continues, due to the expense & overwhelming time involved.
Was the boyfriend accepted to one of the schools he applied to? He must have a lot going for him to have applied to so few schools. These days they want some major background experiences which Bryan doesn't have much of, & he not as strong as he would like in a few other areas. On the plus side his MCAT score was in the top 1% and he had all A's during his year of pre-med courses. With some schools his age could also work against him. Personally I think his age should be in his favor. Besides intelligence & a passion for learning, he has so much conviction and compassion to make a great doctor

I'm sure.from your explanation of his passion.that Bryan will make a Great Doctor.
As far as Craig is comcerned..i'm impartial,, but he is graduating from a Great School!
-
FJL, boy were you lucky to be accepted to your "safety" school early on. Craig's top pick also became his early "safety" school. If only Bryan could be so lucky, or half lucky & just receive something by October.
We need to take one step at a time, first he needs to be invited to an interview.
-
I shall now be on my way to work....which may be a train wreck.
And maybe later tonight will watch the Emmy Awards, which usually are a train wreck.
I do not know what Photo Cloning that DR TCB was talking about is, but I guess DR DAKOTA CELT posted some examples. I do not know if I have a program that does that nor not.
You usually use the cloning feature to fix flaws in photos. It allows you to take an undamaged section of a photo (or from another photo) and use it to cover part of the flaw. Of course, I use if for really goofy effects. In one of the murder mystery dinners we did, one actor played twin brothers. So, for the cast photo, I added him in dressed as the twin into the photo.
Here is a real quciky version, but you get the idea.

SLASHFOOD (http://www.slashfood.com/2007/09/11/wasp-crackers-are-creating-a-buzz/)
In Omachi, Japan, a village 120 miles northwest of Tokyo, 80-year-old hunters catch digger wasps in nearby forests. The wasps are boiled, dried, then sprinkled over a cracker dough, which is cut with hot iron stamps to create the cracker shapes. The crackers are called jibachi senbei and are sold in packages of 20 for a mere £1.60.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/DakotaCelt/rosiee3.jpg)
You can also cut out and fade images... (Thorsten Kaye/Alicia Minshew)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/DakotaCelt/zenzendall.jpg)
color bleeds...
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/DakotaCelt/jasperjaspermockup.jpg)
There is another example of fade, blurred photo background and then embossed text. I did this banner for a Matt Ashford / Shakespeare fan....
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/DakotaCelt/meshakespeare.jpg)
Here is a Matt Ashford one I did with dupping a photo of Matt in a cowboy hat and then applying different effects...
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/DakotaCelt/Cowboymattbanner.jpg)
-
With the 'cutting' of a picture you can place a new background or different colors behind it. You can see that in several of teh above banners namely the Zen banner.
-
Hi all DRs and H/Ks.... I just wanted to pop in for a minute and say a quick hello to all and sun-dried.
Dear Esteemed and better-rested BK -- I'm glad things seem to be in just the right place with the cast and all, and I hope the final "Brain" piece works well for the actor and is effective to the audience. And I hope your phlegm-ism starts to dry up and depart very soon. Damn phlegm....damn it all to hell!
-
Now I have to do a lot of small errands and little things, but that take up time to drive hither and yon to accomplish. And maybe watch the Emmys tonight....God, i just wish it had a decent host!
-
Here is another example of a cut out and putting in a new back ground. The gal I did this banner for adores Matt's character, Jack and is also a huge Bee Gees fan.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/LadyAedin/Di2cjnj2a-1.jpg)
Here is another use of effects and fades. You can even change a color photo to black and white.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/DakotaCelt/jjskchemistry.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/LadyAedin/SKJJtimelesschemistry.jpg)
You can use frames in many of the programs. In some programs you have paintbrushes for painting where you can do spot transparencies, painting, correcting red eye and other fun things. Some even had ways to fade photos in interesting ways even apply an aged look. (see above)
You can also make them from stills....
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/LadyAedin/cavejackmockup.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/DakotaCelt/christinayinyan.jpg)
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/DakotaCelt/moxiebanner.jpg)
Be gentle is one of the first ones I did....
-
Those are pretty cool effects, Dakota!
-
Be gentle.....
This is the very first banner i did...
-
The above banner is not one of my better efforts...
-
Back from Toyland and environs, as well as a lovely breakfast with Susanna Moross Tarjan who send you her regards, BK. It's been a celebrity morning: as Susanna and I were leaving Popovers around 10 am, I noticed that Ben Affleck had been sitting right behind us. Later, while I was waiting for the bus around 1:30 pm, Greg Naughton and Kelli O'Hara walked past me.
Now that I'm back, I've got the "Brain Tap" to finish up. Heigh-ho, heigh-ho!
-
Continued vibes to THE BRAIN!!
-
Did he inherit the family "bedside manor"?
der Brucer
How sweet. :) I'm sure he did. I remember going on hospital rounds a few times with my father & he was wonderful to watch with the people. One time I watched him with a family while he told them a family member had died. He was obviously very grieved & the family knew & appreciated his kindness.
-
Lots going on here today.
Back from church, and I am going to postpone starting the laundry yet again by taking A NAP!!! :)
-
Dakota I’m glad you had a nice evening.
DerBrucer-LOL-At first I thought it was a chocolate chip cookie & then I was too fascinated to look away. :P ;D
-
Lots going on here today.
Back from church, and I am going to postpone starting the laundry yet again by taking A NAP!!! :)
You can't train Zach to do the laundry? ;)
-
Impressive effects, Dakota.
-
Maybe I'll take a cue from Singdaw and take a nap myself.
TTFN.
-
I am going to be watching the Emmys. For the first time we will get the E pre show coverage.
-
Keith will not want to watch the Emmy's.
-
I'm all in favor of taking a nap with Singdaw.
-
I'm all in favor of taking a nap with Singdaw.
td, I'm hurt!
-
td, I'm hurt!
I know that your shoulder is hurt, DR TCB, but you said nothing about taking a nap! ???
Besides, if I took a nap with you, you KNOW neither one of us would get any sleep, now, would we? ;) ;) ;)
-
It must be nap time on the East Coast. :-*
-
No need to fight, boys...
I'm up! :)
-
It was a very short nap; the guilt of the pile of dirty laundry got me.
-
I know that your shoulder is hurt, DR TCB, but you said nothing about taking a nap! ???
Besides, if I took a nap with you, you KNOW neither one of us would get any sleep, now, would we? ;) ;) ;)
Point well taken. I think I will go take a nap. ;)
-
I am glad to see that I didn't miss too much in the past hour!
-
DR DakotaCelt, your display of digital photo manipulation is quite remarkable! :)
-
Christopher Meloni should have, at least, been nominated for LAW AND ORDER - SUV (or whatever it is called) He is actually a fine actor and he has had some very impressive story lines the last few years.
He was nominated last year, but he didn't take it home. (He should have been nominated years ago for the riveting Chris Keller performance in OZ).
-
If Ellen is hosting the Emmy's I may watch. She cracks me up. Otherwise, I don't know...I thought the Emmy's occured during the spring?
Ryan Seacrest is hosting.
-
I did finish all of the episodes of BROTHERS & SISTERS. That emotional good-bye at the airport as Justin boards the plane for Iraq was really devastating.
And, of course, Kevin's beginning relationship with the senator's brother was hilarious when he found out he was a Methodist minister.
Eric Winter, who plays the minister, is on VIVA LAUGHLIN, I believe, so he'll only be in a couple of early episodes of the show this next season. Of course, if VIVA LAUGHLIN tanks as everyone is predicting it will, he'll be free to return to BROTHERS & SISTERS full-time.
-
The unaired episode on the BROTHERS & SISTERS set was originally intended to be episode 2. They took out about three scenes from it and discarded the rest of the episode, working those scenes into episode 3. I'm glad to have another episode, but I can see why they thought it was kind of a stagnant episode. Very little happened except people brooding after the funeral of Nora's husband.
-
Also watched the rest of the bonus features including the bloopers, the "making of" documentary (which was almost 30 minutes and richer than most with interesting behind0-the-scenes stuff).
There was also a segment on the Ken Olin family who has a kind of dynasty with this show: Ken produces the show and directs some episodes, wifePatricia Wettig co-stars as Holly, son Cliff is a staff writer, and daughter Roxy guest starred in several episodes as the bisexual girl friend of bisexual actor played by Jason Lewis.
Ken Olin was at one time one of the hottest and handsomest men starring on TV. Like many of us who reach middle age, he now has a weight problem. He looks like he weighs about 75 pounds more than he did at his hunkiest.
-
Next, I cued up ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS. Didn't have time to start the movie, but I did watch the trailer twice, one to see and hear the trailer and once to her the commentary track for the trailer.
I'll watch the movie itself when I go back down.
-
I ended my afternoon by watching Friday night's PSYCH. Funny episode with the boys playing bounty hunters and stumbling onto the real solution of a murder (actually two murders). Maybe not quite as funny as some previous episodes, but always charming and endearing.
Kevin Sorbo, playing a REAL bounty hunter, still has IT.
-
Heading back down now to first clean my bathroom and then get back to ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS.
WBBL.
-
It wasn't as much as a train wreck as I had feared it would be. Since they are kids, the folks are pretty forgiving. But first-time visitors ..... maybe not.
-
Train wreck dance!
-
Thank you for the compliments Singdaw, Jeanne, George and Jane. I ran out of time to finish my surprise for tcb....
I will have to post it late tonight...
-
DR Laura has discovered the fountain of youth with her avvie!
-
She does not look a day past 9 or 10....
-
I have always liked your avvie, zest for life and a sweet innocence
-
I think I was six. Maybe five.

I will look forward to it. How late are we talking about?

WBBL.
For some strange reason I am now thinking of Lost in Space... Danger Will Danger!
Odd that I know that expression or at least an aspect of it since I have never seen the show.
-
I work until midnight central time so it will be in tomorrow's posts....
-
Sunday evening greetings. Today was a first for me - I was served communion by my DH Richard. He's now an official assistant at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Cincinnati and has had quite a bit of responsibility as the priest has been away (state-side) with the Indiana National Guard.
We're now in full throttle prep for tomorrow's services for Harriet. There's a private committal service at the cemetery chapel in the morning and then the memorial service at the church at 1pm. Family members will be here in-between for lunch and then our house will be open for anyone who wants to be here after that. We've received a few food items, but we, the brothers, and some extended family are doing most of it.

DR TCB - do you know how a true blue Michigan Wolverine spells R-E-L-I-E-F?

Well, DR Ginny, you will be quite busy over the next 24 hours. Hope that they provide all with some sense of closure, though of course there will be a lot of emotions to deal with more fully as time moves on.

Coping vibes for DR Ginny and family....
-
Callie was much better this morning and was waiting at the door of her room to go explore the rest of the house. She's still quite weak, but has eaten a little here and there and spent most of the day with Boo and I in the living room. The rest of the time she's been hiding in a place I haven't located yet. She'll come out at some point.
-
No need to fight, boys...
I'm up! :)
Next to lovin', I like fightin' - I like fightin', it's excitin'.
Next to lovin', I like fightin' best.
Next to gettin' me some rest,
I like stompin' on some toes,
Next to lovin' I like fightin' mose...

~~~ HERE'S VIBES AND HERE'S HOPES FOR DR GINNY TO COPE! ~~~
-
Thanks for the vibes, DRs Singdaw, Cillaliz, ArnoldMBrockman, DakotaCelt, and td. Yes, tomorrow will be trying, but nobody loved a family party more than Harriet. My tribute is to throw her one of the best.
-
Ginny that was the same thing with my great grandmother, she loved to have family around smiling and laughing. What a fitting tribute!
(((hugs))
Have a great "celebration" DR Ginny. Remembering with smiles is the way to go.
(((((Ginny and Richard))))) for tomorrow and the days to come.
Ginny- I like the idea of a private committal service before the memorial service.
Wishing you strength, coping vibes, and a great tribute to Harriet.
Thanks, DRs Jane, DearReaderLaura, and Tomovoz.
You are welcome Ginny. And CONGRATULATIONS to DH Richard on becoming an official assistant.
So, OJ Simpson is arrested for Armed Robbery, Burglary, Assault etc in Las Vegas...
I think he only took what was stolen from him, or is this a new story? ;D
Is anyone watching the Emmys? I don't usually watch them, not sure why. BB8 is a review of the season. But tonight is they reveal the winner of Design Star. Yesterday I thought it was Sunday... I've been so out of it over the past 5 days. Sheesh!
-
I think he only took what was stolen from him, or is this a new story? ;D
With a gang of people and weapons breaking into someone's apartment....that's not a defense it's a confession.
You'd think by now he'd learn to shut up
-
I don't thnk we are going to set any Award Night posting records tonight!
-
Beginning to confess last time didn't hurt him, what's to learn?
-
They are doing the Emmy's in the round this year with the casts seated together.
-
TCB- ;D I don't think so.
I have to record them. Yesterday, I auditioned for Night of the Living Dead: The Musical! and will actually go back tonight at 7:00 pm for the second round. I don't need to be there, but there were only nine people who auditioned yesterday, so Pug (the director) said that if anyone wanted to come back, they could...so I will. ;)
Audition vibes to DR George!
Singdaw, what a lovely dog....
Is he a Schipperke?
***AUDITION VIBES***
for DR George!
I'm not sure I'd eat tacos before a callback, but that's just me! ;)
-
Back from a somewhat frustrating day. Am watching the Emmys whilst trying to do some fundraiser work. I will say that what I've seen of this show is horrid - unfunny, with a terrible set and it all looks really cheesy and cheap. Plus, didn't someone say Ellen was hosting? I've yet to see that.
-
DR DakotaCelt, I got him from the pound, so he's probably quite a mix. The closest I can find in a book to looking like him is a German breed, Hovawart.
-
And let me say that being on page eight will NOT do and all you TV people who post ad nauseum about your shows, let's have some posting just like we do on the Tonys and Oscars.
-
They said Ellen isn't hosting. That guy you see is it.
-
For DR Jane, as promised:
Keith & I have only one thing to say.....AWWWWWW!
-
Zach is a hottie!
-
They said Ellen isn't hosting. That guy you see is it.
Spoken like a true TV person ;)
-
He's a handsome fella!
-
Dakota, Schipperke's are smaller and their ears go up.
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/schipperke.htm
-
Who was that awful caterwauling woman singing with Tony Bennett. And Rob Marshall really needs to stop doing Fosse.
-
He's a handsome fella!
Ryan Seacrest? ;)
-
Rob Marshall really needs to stop doing Fosse.
He can do Fosse, but he should keep it all inside. 8)
-
DR DakotaCelt, I got him from the pound, so he's probably quite a mix. The closest I can find in a book to looking like him is a German breed, Hovawart.
At first I thought Zack might have some Flat Coated Retriever in him.
Maybe he is a mix of the two.
DR DakotaCelt...that was the other breed I marked that had a close resemblance! I guess I'll never really know, unless I happen to meet someone who really knows their breeds.
-
Dakota, and all dog lovers, this is a fun site. It includes the strange new breeds as well as the established ones. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/abc.htm#F
-
BB8 SPOILERS
The review show is really showing how much work Dick and Danielle did on their father/daughter relationship over the summer. I want Dick to win now.
-
Dakota, Schipperke's are smaller and their ears go up.
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/schipperke.htm
I stand corrected... My grandparents had a small black dog they insisted was a schipperke. Mickey was his name... he was a wonderful dog and one my favorites that they had over the years. My other favorites were Skipper, a rat terrier (he was a card ;) ), Bob, an Aussie blueheeler as they were once known as but are now called the Australian Cattledog, and Spud, their gentleman of a German Shepherd.
-
DR DakotaCelt, I got him from the pound, so he's probably quite a mix. The closest I can find in a book to looking like him is a German breed, Hovawart.
Hovawart? Is he Harry Potter's dog?
-
Singdaw, he could very well be a mix but he still is loveable!
Dogs, Wolves and Horses are my favorite animals...
-
Ryan Seacrest? ;)
Who?
-
I was wondering the same thing TCB...
-
That would be
This dog (http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/neapolitanmastiff.htm)
-
I am posting a link that has a picture of a rat terrier. Skipper was a fun dog and along with Bob they loved to play chase and catch the tire....
here is the url, sorry...
What is Robert Duvall going on about? His first speech was embarrassing and now he is topping it.
C'mon, you TV people, let's hear your comments.
My favorite dog breed is a Sugar.
Here is info on teh Aussie Blue Heeler or Aussie Cattledog..
My grandparent's dog, Bob, had a bit more blue in his coat. He loved to eat grapes!
-
Who was the woman caterwauling with Tony Bennett?
-
Kerry, I remember watching that tv movie many many (many many) years ago.
-
Has Cason won any Emmys tonight?
-
DR Singdaw, I love Zach!! Why has it taken so long to get a photo of such a wonderful pup posted on this here sight!
-
Nice to see Leslie Caron looking lovely.
-
BTW, my grandfather's cows were not fond of Bob.... He did his job admirably
-
Bruce-Why do I want to watch a show you are ranting about? ;D
-
I just woke from a nap. I don't think I will watch the Emmys. I don't know what I will watch.
-
The Sopranos just won for director - I'm glad as all the other clips they showed were they typical TV "hip" crap.
-
MBarnum, you must have missed Zach in the past. This is just a current photo of him with his new bandanna.
-
The award show doesn't start for another 45 minutes here in the west.
-
C'mon, you TV people, let's hear your comments.
I'm not watching the Emmys. Did Britney apologize?
-
Well, dear friends out there in the dark - I'm gonna sign off and probably won't be back 'til tomorrow is behind us.
Thanks, JRand, for the earlier vibes and everybody for all the support during this trying time.
-
(((((Ginny)))))
-
David Chase for writer. Is Battlestar Galactica really so good as to be up for writing and directing awards.
-
Well, dear friends out there in the dark - I'm gonna sign off and probably won't be back 'til tomorrow is behind us.
Thanks, JRand, for the earlier vibes and everybody for all the support during this trying time.
DR Ginny, I wish you, Richard, David, and John and their families as good a day as I could wish anyone for tomorrow. It won't be easy.
-
DR DakotaCelt...that was the other breed I marked that had a close resemblance! I guess I'll never really know, unless I happen to meet someone who really knows their breeds.
You thought he might be part Schipperke, Rat Terrier or Shepherd?
-
David Chase for writer. Is Battlestar Galactica really so good as to be up for writing and directing awards.
Is Battlestar Galactica still on the air????
-
Ginny, Best Wishes for tomorrow. I hope you sleep well tonight.
-
We tuned out Battlestar mid way through the first season.
-
Thanks, DRs Jane and DakotaCelt, for the links.
And thanks to everyone for your comments on Zach! He's a great guy. DR MBarnum, I have posted a few photos of him prevously here and there.
I am not watching the Emmys; I don't see enough TV for me to be invested.
-
So, is Leslie Caron caterwauling with Tony Bennett?
-
You thought he might be part Schipperke, Rat Terrier or Shepherd?
No, Flat-Coated Retriever.
-
So, is Leslie Caron caterwauling with Tony Bennett?
Perhaps they're performing the hootenanny.
-
Did Cason win any Tonys tonight?
-
No, Flat-Coated Retriever.
Then you meant me, not Dakota ;D
-
My friend had a sweet flat-coated retriever Zack resembles in appearance, and I'm guessing temperament.
-
Then you meant me, not Dakota ;D
Oh, dear.
Sorry! :)
The posts, they are a flurryin'...
-
You thought he might be part Schipperke, Rat Terrier or Shepherd?
He could possibly have terrier. He has the face shape of Schipperke in the muzzle. His ears could be terrier or a shepherd breed such as a sheltie.
-
He could have some sheltie also they have the fold over type ears. His muzzle appears like Schipperke
-
The funniest thing about my grandparents dogs was Bob trying to heard Skipper... That was a riot Cattle dog vs. Terrier...
-
Woof!!
-
He could also have a bit of a herding breed in him also
-
Does he have an undercoat?
-
So is anyone watching the Emmys?
-
I am at work and it is quiet...
Odd, sometimes I can get on HHW at work and sometimes not... very odd!
-
Cilla, vibes for callie !!!
-
Does he have an undercoat?
Yep...
Very, very thick!
-
His undercoat, that is.
-
:P
-
I wonder if he might have some Sheltie.
Both breeds have an undercoat
-
Now we have an absurd Jersey Boys meets The Sopranos thing. It's completely idiotic because the clips of The Sopranos are, for the most part, not seeable.
-
I cannot believe our TV fanatics are errant and truant and they truly deserve a bitch-slapping from here to eternity and hell and back.
-
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/shetlandsheepdog.htm (http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/shetlandsheepdog.htm)
Take a look at him. Shelties have a very thick undercoat. Shetland isles, where the breed was developed was not a particularly hospitable place for animals
-
Sorry, Bruce, I am at work....
-
I am watching Design Star...
-
Good luck this week with final rehearsals of THE BRAIN!!
Is the brain prop all ready to go?
-
Does Zach try to heard his canine freinds? or you for that matter? :)
-
I will not be in NYC in person but I am there in spirit and wish only the best for the show!
-
So is anyone watching the Emmys?
Nope. Doesn't start for another fifteen minutes. But I won't be watching, anyway.
-
'night.
-
Flat Coated Retrievers also have a dense undercoat.
Does Zach have herding tendencies or is he more retriever like?
-
How is the fundraiser shaping up? I hope everything is falling into place beautifully.
-
Night TCB
-
My vote is Zach is a very handsome lovable mutt! ;)
-
No, DR DakotaCelt...doesn't do much herding at all, just wants terribly to chase after squirrels and bunnies and cats.
I think I'm turning in, as well...
Good night, everyone!
-
Thanks all for your kind comments! :) :)
-
DR Laura, love your quotes... Cute!
-
I agree Cilla...
Singdaw, be glad it is squirrels, cats and birds and not cars....
-
The beauty of a mutt is their mystifying mystery...
-
I'm also tired....
'night
-
I used to have a mini schnauzer / mine poodle cross... he was an fun dog.. Loved the blowdryer, literally. It made blowdrying one's hair in the morning an entertaining exercise in getting ready for school!
-
Good night singdaw and Jane, pleasant dreams!
-
All I can say about Design Star is YEAH!!!!!
-
DR Laura, love your quotes... Cute!
Thank you. I have no idea what Sandra's means, but the others were all directed toward me.
-
I am trying to figure out Sandra's also...
-
Cherry coke?
-
My hope is that the new Brain head will be with us tomorrow.
-
Page 12!!
-
How is Callie Sue feeling tonight?
-
She's feeling better. Not 100% by any stretch but better, I think. She hid in the basement for a long time, but I brought her up a little while ago and she's stayed up here. Right now she's sitting on a blanket on the couch, one of her favorite places. Boo is pretty irritated that she isn't getting all the attention. She stood at the bottom of the stairs and meowed very loudly then went upstairs. The cat knows how to make an exit.
-
Are you letting them be together?
LOL BK.. She has never been one of my favourite actresses.
I've not watched the show.
-
Yes, Callie came out of her room this morning and hadn't had any accidents in the night, so I let her roam the house. Actually the first time they saw each other Boo walked up and Callie licked her on the head. But with the smell of the procedures on Callie and the perfume someone at the clinic put on her to make her smell better, Boo doesn't know what to think
-
Sally Field - the most obnoxious acceptance speech EVER.
It wasn't all words and she got censored....I have to agree it was awful
-
Awwww.
-
I wonder what they censored. I wanted to hurl something through the TV.
-
Thank goodness I've been doing work all the while the show has been on.
-
And they just gave best actor to someone named James Spader - I've seen him in a few movies and have never been impressed - James Gandolfini's Tony Soprano was one of the greatest performances in the history of television - why reward it with an Emmy.
-
She was saying "If Women ruled the country there wouldn't be any God damned war." She said the first part and mine cut out on the g sound
-
Hello I am all caught up
-
I've never seen 30 Rock. Is it really that good?
-
We are not watching the Emmys'... it seems we are not missing anything
-
Hi Vixmom!
-
Has this show really been on over three hours???
-
If you eat raisins that's healthy, right?
-
And are we still on page twelve?
-
The Emmys were on?
-
and dark chocolate is supposed to be good for you , isn't it?
-
So chocolate covered raisins must be doubly healthy, yes?
-
I'm eating healthy!!!
-
Congratualtions to Skip and Fred and also Fred and Skip on the added performance for The Last Starfighter
-
Wasn't St Clements where the Singing Nun played last year?
-
Don't forget to wash them down with a glass of red wine, Vixmom!
-
Hi Cilla!! Continued VIbes for your Callie Cat
(((((GINNY & RICHARD)))))
OOH! I almost forgot!!! Thank you Laura!!!
Oranges and lemons
Say the Bells of St Clements.
-
Yesterday I got up, I was taken out to breakfast... (IHOP has a fruit crepes special going on.....)
The the Vixter and I started on her room.... she has several hundred thousand million billion trillion stuffed animals, beanie babies and the like and we are separating them into catergories:
securely wrap and box and place in the garage loft
Give away/garage sale
keep as bed decoration
The garage loft may have to be seriously reinforced to handle the load
Oranges and lemons
Say the Bells of St Clements.
You owe me five farthings
Say the Bells of St. Martins
Hi Cilla!! Continued VIbes for your Callie Cat
Thanks Vixmom. I had a dish of ice cream with dark chocolate syrup tonight. Dairy and antioxidents, I'm eating healthy too
-
Thanks Deb. Never know how universal those rhymes are.
Jane will be so proud of us!
-
Thanks Deb. Never know how universal those rhymes are.
I cheated, I have a Brit in the house... he often said that rhyme to baby Vixter while jiggling her on his knee
I believe the next bit is
When will you pay me
Say the Bells of Old Bailey
-
I did grow up hearing
Ride a cocked horse to Banbury Cross and never knew what it was about until my inlaws took me to see Coventry Cross and explained about the death of a beloved Queen (I forgot which one I am afraid) and the King's (yeah, don't know his name either) tribute to her, having crosses erected in every city in which the funeral procession stopped on the sad journey back to London to inter her body
-
Sweeney Todd would have heard the bells of St Clements and Old Bailey.
St Clement Danes is at the begiining of Fleet Street
I heard that one growing up too...
Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross
To see a find lady upon a white horse
with rings on her fingers and bells on her toes
She will have music wherever she goes
"Oranges and lemons", say the bells of St. Clement's
"You owe me five farthings", say the bells of St. Martin's
"When will you pay me?" say the bells of Old Bailey
"When I grow rich", say the bells of Shoreditch
"When will that be?" say the bells of Stepney
"I do not know", says the great bell of Bow
Here comes a candle to light you to bed
And here comes a chopper to chop off your head!
Chip chop chip chop - The last man's dead
-
The rhymes were still used in a party game when I was a child.
-
vixmom - Thanks for the good wishes.
But let's not take anything away from the other HHW NYMF shows, which are in theaters larger than ours (their theaters have 199 to our theater's 160).
No one's taking nothing away from nobody....
(our retired English teachers are gonna LOVE that sentence)
but excellent news that you are so popular (and glad I got my tickets early!!)
-
Speaking of which, will you be available for post matinee nosings on the 29th?
I understand that your dance card may well be filled!!!
Vixdad told me it was a rhyme to teach the children the names of the different churches in London... I don't know about the chopper bit I shall have to ask him about that
I watched ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS early this evening. It was my first time with the film, and I found it charming, engrossing, and surprisingly well done. Yes, the effects were rather low grade, but who cares after all these years? Its charms are still plentiful, and Paul Mantee has a gorgeous body, well worth waiting all these years to see.
-
Time for me to get some sleep. Night
-
I also watched the documentary ported over from the laserdisc, and it was enjoyable too showing how accurate the science was for the time in which the movie was made. Also an eye-opener.
-
English nursery rhymes are all a bit gruesome though aren't they?
Bridges falling down, people turning to ashes and falling down, mice getting their tails cut off (as if it wasn't bad ennough that they were already blind).. there is just no joy in an English nursery rhyme!!!
-
G'night Cilla... I had better toddle off as well...
Good night and good vibes to all!!!
-
I watched some initial sketches and storyboards for the film in another bonus feature, but I haven't gotten to the commentary yet. I'll listen to it tomorrow.
-
I did watch the Emmys. Bravo to Fox for FINALLY broadcasting them in high definition, a first for the Emmys (the Oscars have been in high def for years. The Tonys still aren't.)
Didn't like the in-the-round set, but I applaud the effort at trying to be different. Ryan Seacrest is such a smarmy host on IDOL, but that kind of persona works on that show. On the Emmys, one needs a little more or something else, I think.
-
I wasn't going to talk about the winners since the West Coast is just now getting the broadcast, but looks like bk has spoiled anyway.
Stil, I'll say I think only a couple of awards were disappointing for me. I like the Best Comedy Series winner, but there are two others that I think are better, more consistent shows. Best Drama was no surprise. The acting awards were mostly deserved, but I would have gone a different way with Best Actor/Drama and Supporting Actor/Drama though both men are talented. I couldn't argue with any of the actress winners tonight. But the competition is so intense for these prizes since all of them are talented and are given wonderful scripts to act each week. The choices are awlays hard.
-
Many thanks, Bruce, for announcing the Emmy winners for those of us on the West Coast where the show is currently being shown tape-delayed to air in primetime. The show isn't an hour old here yet.
I thought maybe the forum would be like when the Tonys are done, so I logged on to see reactions as the winners were revealed.
I'll now find something else to watch.
Oh!!
This just in...
"Surprise good news...Sarah has finished her last round of chemo!!! We were expecting it to go for another 2-3 rounds, but the doctors want to give her a break and do the scans to see just where we're at. we all have mixed emotions about this, but hell, what do we know??? We will keep you all informed as always. she's still feeling nauseous and her throat is still a little sore. depending on the results of the scans, we will either go back for another couple of rounds of chemo, or just go onto monthly monitoring, from there if all is going well, every six months and hopefully from there every year for at least five years. srah hopes to get back to school some time this coming week. her teachers and classmates are also hoping for this since they miss her and want to know more about what she went through and is going to go through. sarah is still writing her "memoirs" and one of the teachers at Sloan said she would help her polish them up and publish them once complete. Sarah thinks she'll become a millionaire by doing this, ah the exhuberance of youth. So we all still remain cautiously optomistic. we all know that there's still a long road ahead of us, but we keep forging ahead one day at a time. til the next update, thanks and keep the faith."
-
and now, good night
-
See, I still think I'm in LA - oh, well, sorry about that.
-
Good Evening!
I did not watch the Emmys tonight.
