Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both green and red squiggly lines, and now it is time for you to post until the squiggly cows come home.

This "huge" rainstorm all the weather forecasters predicted is amazing - I think we've had about six drops of rain in the last two hours.

Last night, we had a speed-through rehearsal.  We very quickly sped through the show just to be a reminder of what we need to do for our paying audience tonight.  It took us all of 1 hour and 15 minutes!  But then, we also didn't go through any of the songs, because we didn't have our music director.  Then we went home. :)

Media check:

In my DVD player:  two used DVDs that I just bought yesterday:  "Hot Fuzz" and "Ratatouille."  They were $10 each, and they're practically brand new.  Also, the new musical movie, "Hairspray" and the old musical movie, "Zero Patience."

Of course, I won't have any time to watch any of these because we start performances of Nite of the Living Dead! The Musical! again and we have a performance tonight, TWO performances tomorrow and an evening performance on Sunday...at 8:00 pm!  That's too darned late for Sunday night!  The show won't end until after 10:30!  But tickets have already been sold, so it's too late to cancel. :P

Good night, all. 8)

Last night, my main bathroom faucet bit the dust...so to speak.  The handle for the hot water was cracked before I moved in and for quite a few months now, has not really gripped tightly enough to turn the water on and off.  I actually had to use a screwdriver! :P Well, the screw finally turned it's last turn and I couldn't get it to turn off at all!  I had to turn off the hot water from underneath the sink.  I finally decided to remove the old faucet and put in the new faucet that I had actually purchased when I moved in. ::) Anyway, it was somewhat of a hassle (and I didn't get all the gunk off the sink around the old faucet), but the new one is in and it's wonderful!  I have cold AND hot water!  Here's a picture of my new faucet:

It's SO nice to have easily accessible hot water again..I should've done this when I moved in! ;) Just had to share. :D

Good morning, all! I think I have to take back my offer of three weeks' work at Barnes & Noble. I had a request this morning for a scoring deadline, I've got BABES and LADY OF THE SLIPPER sitting on my desk at Toyland, and I think I've got enough to work with at the moment. I'm trying to analyze why I said yes yesterday, and I believe it's because there are a lot of wonderful people there that I like and I miss them. I also like the job but I do know I don't like having to be on my feet for seven hours at a time.  That said, I think I'm going to call the manager this morning and rescind my offer, head down to the barber for my haircut, go to Toyland and then the NYPL for some research.

I hope this offer concerning the deadline comes to fruition, so we'll have to see, and, of course, I worry that when a job ends that I'll never work again.

TOD:
DVD:  Brothers & Sisters is still sitting here

And the word of the day is: SUPERFICIES!
If one follows just the SUPERFICIES of Fusion Cuisine, all one has to do is FUSE SPICIER ingredients (say, those of Szechuan cooking) with those of a tamer taste (say, anything coming from Great Britain).  But something tells me that la doubanjiang (a spicy and salty bean paste used as a flavoring) would not pair well with clotted cream under any circumstances.

TOD:

Nothing much.  We've got the DVD for Hairspray, but I haven't had time to watch the film yet, just the bonus stuff.  And the RedBox DVD rental thingie at work has a monitor on top that keeps playing quickie previews to sell the movies they're renting, so I'm so sick and tired of the song "You Can't Stop the Beat" that I'm likely to throw up if I try to listen to the song voluntarily right now.  I mean it plays over and over and over and over and over.  Bleh.

(And poor Robert Wagner, reduced to playing Mr. George Wilson in the direct-to-video "A Dennis the Menace Christmas," another preview in the loop.  Sad, sad, sad.)

BOOKS:

Finished Raymond Sokolov's With The Grain, which is all about cooking with grains.

Margaret Visser's The Way We Are (quickie essays about where social conventions come from) and Christine Ammer's Fruitcakes and Couch Potatoes (words and phrases that sound like food, but really mean other things) are both nightstand books - something to read quickly while falling asleep.

Which brings me to Ken Hom's Fragrant Harbour Taste: The New Chinese Cooking of Hong Kong.  From the spelling, you can tell that the guy does a lot of work for the BBC.  His measurements threw me until I looked stuff up.  He kept referring to a "dessert spoon" as a measurement, distinct from a "teaspoon" or "tablespoon."  I had no idea what he was talking about.  It turns out that a teaspoon is equal to 5 ml.  A tablespoon is three times that amount, 15 ml.  Dessert spoon fills in the middle, at 10 ml, or equal to two teaspoons.  Handy, what?

(The above measurements do not apply in Australia, where a tablespoon is equal to four teaspoons, or 20 ml.  And we Americans think Texans are size queens!   ;))

Enough about Chincy Bassas -- they're supposed to be gone...

Tis the Season to Be Jolly so on to the TOD:

In my car CD player, I've got the Christmas CD sent to me by DR ELmo last year -- the one with arrangements by the renowned Larry Moore (a shameless plug for my beloved friend).

Nothing in the casa player at the moment -- might end of being Christmas tunes as well.

Nothing in the DVD player -- no time for movies since this semester's final study packet will soon be due.

TOD:

So I guess I’ll tell you about my Amazon Kindle, which arrived a few days ago.  For those of you who haven’t seen the reports in the media, it’s basically an e-book reader.  It’s registered to your Amazon account, and allows you to browse and purchase content from Amazon wirelessly – not using WiFi, but much more broadly, using Sprint’s cell network.  You can actually use it to connect to the Internet, too, but the interface is a bit clunky and it works best primarily with text that is not highly formatted.  The entry price isn’t cheap – it’s $399.99 – BUT there is no monthly plan or bill – the wireless component is free.

And again, it’s primarily a text reader.  I purchased about 8 books [it holds 200 or so, expandable with a memory card] and it downloaded the complete texts in just a minute or two.  Content varies in price but most best-sellers are under $10.00.  I am also subscribing to The New York Times, which is delivered wirelessly automatically and is ready for me when I wake up each morning.  Reading a newspaper electronically takes a little getting used to, and I miss the serendipitous experience of reading the actual paper, but other than the crossword and the ads, it’s all there.  The one downside is that you can’t lend, give, or share an e-book, magazine, or newspaper as you could with the equivalent print version.

The greatest thing is that the device disappears, and you can easily go into the “reading trance” of a good story.  The screen uses a technology that approximates the written page – nothing like reading a computer screen – and the text is scalable, so you can find a size that is comfortable.  It uses ambient light, so if you want to read in bed at night, you’ll need a book light.

I’m going to be traveling next week, and I look forward to having a whole library of books and newspapers in one small, lightweight device.  Oh, and there’s a built-in dictionary and Wikipedia search capability.  It bookmarks automatically so you return to the spot you left off.  It can play audio books and mp3s that have been converted into compatible formats – and that is the only time you’d ever need to hook it up to a computer, to transfer those types of files into the device.  I’m very pleased with it.  It’s not an all-purpose machine – but it does what it’s designed to do very well.

STOPOVER TOKYO - bland transfer of an interesting film.  Robert Wagner spies with Joan Collins and a cuddly Japanese orphan.
THE TWELVE CHAIRS - good transfer of Mel Brooks' melancholic comedy with a gorgeous Frank Langella.

So...  I met my parents down at the Burger King on 42nd Street - which seems to have become their breakfast place of choice whenever they come to NYC - around 8:30.  After they got off the bus, they went to the 8:00 Mass across the street.  After giving them some basic directions for how to get around today, I walked them over to the GMA window - where we spied and tried to take a picture with Diane Sawyer - and took some other pics as well.  Then it was over to Bryant Park - "See - Radio City Music Hall is right up the street."  And now they're on their own for the next couple of hours...  And I'm about to play some auditions.  So...

DR Matt H. - hope you'll report on all the lovely carbo-loading details!

I miss bread...

Yes, Gregg always gets pasta when we go out to eat before he races. Almost the only time I ever eat bread is when I go out to dinner. I'm not in the habit of eating it here. I have enough carbs here as it is!

Sorry to disagree with you, DR Ron Pulliam, about Ellen Pompeo, but I like the self-absorbed and moody character she plays and I think she does it very well.

I find the new Dempsey love interest singularly lacking in personal charisma and there isn't any sexual chemistry with him that I can detect. He and Pompeo do have it.

On again, off again, on again, off again.  Their relationship can go nowhere on the show.  Oh, they can rekindle the inexplicable lust the writers provide them from time to time, but last night you could see in Dempsey's eyes that his character isn't interested in going where Meredith has finally decided they should go.

I think the other girl IS sexy...and he and she look GOOD together.  I think Pompeo is the antithesis of sexy.

Isn't it GREAT when things fall into place?

I've spent the past several days lining things up, making notes, trying to prepare "contingency" packages for various co-workers concerning things that would likely arise in my absence.  I assured them the solutions to getting them done would be simple.

No sooner would I finish notes on how to handle something than the "something" would come in early and allow me to do it.

Today, the final piece fell into place, so to speak, and the last invoice I expected to see for December arrived this morning.  It will be processed and out the door by noon.

A Board of Supervisors action that would require our Fed-Exing some leases to a landlord for signature fell into place last night.  I have the leases and FedEx will pick them up before 5 p.m.

The only thing I have left to do is to script my voice mail message to cover all the possible things people might want to hear when they call the office (70% of my phone calls are "wrong numbers" -- and always for the same things.  I have a ready reference for referring folks to the correct offices and I incorporate those numbers/situations into my holiday voice mail).

One-stop shopping, that's what I am!

Questions about Kindle - what is different between it and other eBook readers and eBooks?  For example, I know one of our dear readers read one of the Kritzer books as an eBook on one of those palm pilots or machines you carry with you.  Is any book on amazon available?  For example, MY books?  Do you get the covers?  What does it cost to download at $25 book?  If there's a paperback AND a hardcover, I assume you can download the cheaper of the two?

Yes on point #1. I've been watching a lot of Gene Tierney lately. I think she's just gorgeous and is my favorite of the actresses of that era. She reminds me a lot of my Aunt Margaret, another dark-haired beauty. I don't recall if I've mentioned Margaret in DR Jeanne's Stories of Her Family. Margaret was one of the early aviators--married a pilot and became one herself. She and her husband, Bob Blair, had a flying school and taught many stars to fly. This was in the days when stars still did their own stunts. Both Clark Gable and Jimmy Stewart were among the students, and both became good friends. Margaret was a very lovely person and a strong role model for me.

I have much respect for Somerset Maughum's writing. I enjoyed it that he put himself in a work of fiction. It made me wonder how much of the story is actually fiction. Anyone have any info here?

I've never seen BAREFOOT CONTESSA, another of the Hollywood classics that I somehow missed. (There were many.)

BK, here's the Newsweek cover story that I mentioned earlier:

As I understand it, the big difference between the gizmo your friend has and the Kindle is the connectivity.  Books are transmitted like cell phone calls, not downloaded to a computer and then uploaded to a reading device.

I have read the article, and it somehow made me a little sick to my stomach.  Especially the part about the continuing amateurization of the world, with authors writing their books online and asking their readers to comment and basically help shape the book.  This is akin to moviemaking, where screenplays are now written by committee, shaped by people who know virtually nothing except what they've read in some Screenwriting 101 books - writing books is one of the few creative areas left where no one can tell you what to do - you write the book you write.  Yes, a traditional publisher/editor can insist you remove 150 pages from your manuscript, and yes, that might be a good idea and then again it might hurt the book.  But, even then, that is a creative relationship between two people, not the author and hundreds of people.  I just don't like any of that sort of thing, frankly.  Happily, books won't be going anywhere soon, and anything that gets people to read is a good thing.

Well, the HUGE rainstorm of last night produced 0 inches of rain, just some damp streets.  These weather people should be put out to pasture, but, no, they just continue to give misinformation and collect large salaries.

Actually, the LA basin received .5 inches of rain - a downpour that would have been welcomed in Atlanta. And some of your neighbors got damp:

Mark Boster / Los Angeles Times

Modjeska Canyon resident Gil Santos walks his dog, Negro, on his daily hike. Several residents had evacuated overnight ahead of the storm, which was less fierce than expected.

And I doubt that the weather people put out "misinformation", surely that qualified their prediction with a percent probability.

No, DR Jeanne, I have never used any previous e-reader device.

bk, DR Ginny was correct, the primary difference between Kindle and other e-readers is the connectivity.  Which kind of ties you to Amazon, for good and for ill.  Amazon at the moment appears to have the largest selection of e-books [90,000 titles and growing daily - but that is only a small percentage of Amazon's stock], but it only accepts a few other formats besides its own proprietary format.  Kindle books by and large cannot be viewed on other e-devices, and vice-versa.  You can manipulate books from the www.guttenberg.org project to work on Kindle.  But for now, the vast majority of books on Amazon - including yours - are not converted to the proprietary format, nor are much of the print books already in your collection - which is certainly a limitation.  You can, for a very nominal fee, have Amazon convert Word or .pdf docs to Kindle-ready "books."  The .pdfs would be more successful if they are simple text and nothing complicated.

You do not get covers.  There are no formats - it's just the text, so hardcover/softcover are indistinguishable - you're just getting the text of the book.  No download charge at all - it's built in to the cost of the reader device and the Kindle version of the book.  Most Kindle versions of the best-sellers are going for under $10.00.  Things in the public domain [that have been converted and are available] can go from .99 to a few dollars.

It certainly doesn't replace a print book, and it has its limitations, but it is very convenient for reading on the go, and for books you'd like to read but don't really care if you own a hard copy.

bk, DR Ginny was correct, the primary difference between Kindle and other e-readers is the connectivity.

Sounds like it won't hurt BK's book sales, assuming someone really wants to read one of his books, ie they won't be able to read it "free" on Kindle.

It does give new meaning to the word "library", though.

MOVIE?  How do you know Jeanne isn't referring to DVDs of episodes of the television cooking show with Ina Garten called The Barefoot Contessa? (http://www.foodnetworkstore.com/p-608533-Barefoot-Contessa-Vol-1-2-6-packbr-By-Ina-Garten.aspx)  (Named after her catering business.)

Woody,
You are correct that I could have been referring to the cooking DVDs.
I am indeed familiar with Ina Garten and her Barefoot Contessa line. She was a regular for a while in MARTHA STEWART LIVING. I admit that the name of her company spurs interest in me for the movie. However, Ron's assumption in this case was correct. Much to my nutritional distress, I am mad about movies these days and "off" cooking.  ;)

Grocery gaffe: hams for Hanukkah
Manhattan grocery advertises food Jews can't eat under their dietary laws
The Associated Press
updated 8:20 a.m. PT, Fri., Dec. 7, 2007

NEW YORK
- A luxury grocery store in Manhattan made a food faux pas, advertising hams as "Delicious for Chanukah."

Chanukah - an alternate spelling for Hanukkah - is the eight-day Jewish holiday that began Tuesday evening, and hams, as well as pork and other products from pigs, can't be eaten under Jewish dietary laws.

A woman who saw the mistake over the weekend at the Balducci's store on 14th Street took pictures of the signs and posted them on her blog.

Jennifer Barton, director of marketing, told The Associated Press on Thursday that the signs were changed as soon as the error was noted.

She issued an apology on the company Web site, saying the company would be reviewing its employee training.

I watched another MURDER SHE WROTE episode. It was an Amish-set story with a good mystery and, again, one I had never seen before. I did not get the murderer's identity correct, but the clues were really lacking.

Oh!  Oh!

I watched Wednesday's episode of "Life" last night (following which, the announcer said that all new episodes of "Life" would resume after the new year....attn: Michael Shayne).

S P O I L E R S

What a terrific episode!  I loved how they started it off with the corpse outside the apartment door, the hole blasted through the door by the girlfriend/wife, the forest of marijuana plants and the missing gun dilemma.  That was a nifty bit of foreplay for the phone call Charlie got and all that followed.

I remembered thinking at the time Charlie had entered the house and found the wounded girl in Indio that she might actually be the daughter of his dead friend rather than the daughter of his friend's murderer.

The scene with Charlie in the overturned vehicle and the guys who crashed into him was terrific, too.  "Am I upside down, or are you?" LOL.

And that moment after Charlie left Jack Reese atop the building was a true "red herring".  I'm sure a lot of folks figured he'd shoot himself or jump.  But....NOPE.

I can't wait to see how they further develop the plot that goes into who set Charlie up.

The menu after 11 a.m. is nothing great, but oh, that breakfast menu!  :)

And I've also noticed that no one really seems to go to that Burger King for breakfast - at least the few times I've met my parents there.  In fact, today, there breakfast was basically cooked to order - at least the pancakes were.  And since they were out of small and medium coffee cups, everyone was getting large coffees for the price of a small (or medium).

A little holiday cheer, Samba Soleil style:

You would not believe the cool device our bass player recorded this with--it's something called a Zoom, IIRC--it was about the size and shape of an I-Phone, had 2 condenser mics built in (though you can attach real mics), and it stores up to 6 hours of MP3 recordings.  Amazing.

I <heart> Zooms!  As do a bunch of my friends.  I don't have one of my own - well, I just don't have the need for one - but it sure comes in handy for some composer and sound friends of mine.

In other news...

My day of Mary Poppins auditions went well.  However, I will say, I was a bit caught off guard by how many production personnel were there: the resident director, the resident choreographer, the two dance captains, the music director/conductor, the music supervisor (the recently Emmy-nominated David Caddick), the casting director and myself.  However, it turned out the were casting one very-soon-to-be-open ensemble slot, and the "winner" would have to start rehearsals in January, and be ready to go on four weeks later.  And since it's a "swing" slot, said person must learn eight(!!!!!!!!) different tracks in those four weeks.

We saw some great people, and, as always, it was nice to see some old friends come into the room.  And top it all off, I was done at little after 1:00!  :)

I have a friend who's been giving me a chocolate assortment for Christmas the last couple years. I actually asked if he could go back to the book gift card this year. I've eaten waaayyy too much chocolate!

So...

Once I got up to Radio City, I waited across the street until the show got out.  Once I noticed people coming out of the doors, I called my parents' cell phone.  No answer.  Then a few minutes later, I called again.  Then a few more minutes later, the same.  Well... I then remembered that they were going to try to meet up with some family friends who were coming up to the 4:00 show this afternoon - my parents went to the 1:00 show - and that they were going to try to meet up in the lobby of NBC.  So, I headed over there.  And looked... And looked.  Then I recalled that they were also going to try to have lunch at the Carnegie Deli, so I headed over there.  And I called them again too.  Still no answer.

Just as I had finished looking in the very(!) crowded Carnegie Deli, my Dad called me - it was already about 3:15.  And they were already back at Port Authority.  They had hoped to take the 3:00 bus back to Atlantic City, but they just missed it, so they were in line for the 3:30 train.

Hi, Mom and Dad!  Bye, Mom and Dad!

::)

In any case... They said they had great seats, and that they really enjoyed the show.  And, of course, my Mom then asked me if I could get another set of house seats for a friend of hers.  For tomorrow.  Na gonna happen.

Title: Re:THE WORD POLICE

DR JoseSPiano - no, just one font in [I think] six different sizes.  I can't remember the name of it, but I think they selected it for maximum clarity on the screen.  I can easily read the smallest font, and it minimizes page turns.  So everything that is converted into a "Kindle" edition is converted into that font.   Reading the NY Times, they do use a slightly larger font size for Section and Article headings.

I have a sense of deja vu.

;)

So did I.

So did I.

But it was good seeing them today.  Although, my Mom almost had Security called on her when she stopped by the GMA window/studio.  She noticed that people were in there getting their pictures taken with Diane Sawyer.  I told her that GMA has an audience, but you have to arrange for the tickets in advance.  Well, after trying to sweet talk the Security guard into letting her in the studio area to have her picture taken with Diane Sawyer - even though she was not part of this morning's taping - she called me over to take a picture of her with Diane Sawyer standing in the background...  Excuse me, ma'am, you need to stay in front of the line....  Ma'am, you are not allowed into this area....  PLEASE move away from this area now.  NOW.

-And that's when I gently guided her back onto the sidewalk.

Whew!

Hi folks!

I couldn’t let the day go by without wishing our Dear Jane a most happy of happy birthdays.

I’ll also sending vibes to Dakota Celt.  You are very much in my thoughts.

Thank you DR Ginny for the lovely card.

I’m still in the battle.  I’m not sure if I’m wining but we’ll have to see what the doctor says on Monday.

I had to battle the short term disability folks today.  It seems they closed my case and I won’t be getting another check even though I faxed them my fitness for duty report on Monday!  They said it wasn’t good enough.  I called the doctors office but he had already left for the day so I can’t get anything taken care of until this coming Monday.

It’s been horrible being here at home alone and not even being able to use the computer but I’ve done everything the doctor has said I must do to get well.

All in all I am not the least bit sorry for undergoing the surgery.  This was not done for vanities sake but for my back and I am already reaping the benefit in that regard.  My back feels so much better.  Once I am healed and everything goes back to normal, it will be the best thing I have ever done for myself.

DR Ben and DP Ant, I’m glad you got a chuckle out of the Christmas card.  I thought it was the best card I’ve sent since I had the one about the 4th Wise man who came bearing Fruit Cake.

I’ve got a few back in the mail—Cillaliz and George.  I guess I didn’t have your correct address.  I’m sorry.

I also wanted to tell you all the Christmas song I dislike the most is “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer.”  Ugh.

Well, I’d better go.  Have a wonderful evening everyone!   :)

My, what a busy day I’m having!  I was a whirlwind of energy this morning & rather productive around the house.  I

Sherlock gave me a very cute card, mouth delivered.  He still doesn’t have the hang of letting me take something from him & just dropped it at my feet.

I read all my email birthday wishes, which I have not had time to respond to, and then the phone began ringing, and ringing, etc.  I couldn’t head out with Sherlock for a hike until after 12:00.  By then it had stopped raining. :)

I returned home and the phone rang again, and then again.  And once again while I was catching up on the posts and wonderful birthday greetings.  :D

Now one of my favorite humor Christmas songs is the "Twelve PAINS of Christmas".

"Shut up, you"
"Fine! Your so smart, YOU put up the lights!"

And who could forget "Hangovers", "Making dinner for the in laws", "She's a witch, I hate her".   "BUY ME SOMETHING!"  :) Too funny!

Hi DaNiece!

Hello there!

I finished the video and it should be posted next week. I think I'll put in on Utube and link the web site to it. I don't know if anyone outside our industry will appreciate it but it's cute.

I shoveled my driveaway and threw some salt. By Sunday, the snow will be a faint memory. It's chilly here. I can't seem to warm myself.

We were supposed to tour the Victorian Homes tonight but we couldn't organize the troops. We decided to skip it this year. Tomorrow I am volunteering for a childrens Christmas party and won't be back in time to meet their tour schedule. Maybe you'll be here to join us next year?

Take care and don't overdue it.

I'm not sure it is availabe on the NET for listening to or downloading but I do enjoy Frank Kelly's take on the "Twelve Days Of Christmas".
I still smile at the Allan Sherman version as well.

What one did Jason Graae sing on PBS?  It was a spoof of "Twelve Days."

And you know that in the past, I have also changed out both the bathroom and the kitchen faucet.  I'm not afraid to tackle any thing water but I draw the line at anything to do with the electric.  Too scared I'll get shocked I guess.

I've changed light fixtures before.  You just have to make sure that the power is turned off at the circuit breaker box.  I've got an outlet in my garage that I need to swap out.  I don't know if it's just the individual outlet, or if part of the power line is bad, but I'll start with the outlet.  That should be easy.  If that doesn't work, then I'll have to call an electrician. :-\

BK, thank you for the directions to In-And-Out Burger. Greg was very happy to have one!

And, it was right across the street from Coffey Sound, where sound techies like to shop, and a few blocks away from my good friend who is moving out of her apartment this week. She had been keeping it in hopes that she could get another film going but since it hasn't happened she'll move all her stuff back to Atlanta. (She's the friend who cooked dinner for James Ivory).

We dropped by to visit and it turned out that she knew our cameraman. We hadn't told him who we were visiting because we assumed he didn't know her, so that was a fun coincidence!

DR edisaurus - Love the Mercer stories!  -And I think I shall listen my Ella Fitzgerald "....Sings the Johnny Mercer Songbook" in your - and his - honor.  :)

Awwww...thank you!

Another Mercer tidbit: Johnny always regretted that he never had a big Broadway hit that yielded any well-known songs. He was offered the opportunity to write the lyrics for GYPSY, but didn't like the script at all.

Sure would have been interesting if he had liked it!

I have never tackled plumbing work but when we first moved inot this house I decided that we needed new wall outlets.

I was not working at the time and Vixdad was at work so I went up to the Home Depot and bought a bunch of outlets.  The man at the store told me how to connect them and I went home and changed  all the outlets in the house, every single one of them, about 20 or so..... when Vixdad came  home he wanted to know how I knew how to turn off the power... I looked at him blankly.... I had no idea what he was talking about...

When we got back to my house, we watched SHOW BUSINESS: THE ROAD TO BROADWAY. I throoughly enjoyed it. I think it might bore non-theater folk, but I certainly enjoyed it though I did think some of the construction of the stories surroundings the four shows were a bit incomplete. I think TABOO didn't get enough time. I could have done without those pompous critics trying to be worldly and philosophical (though it was nice to finally put faces with names after all these years.)

I had had this DVD sitting here for weeks waiting for Gregg and me to watch it. He really loved it, but he was a HUGE supporter of CAROLINE OR CHANGE, so he enjoyed those segments the most.

Greetings from Jackson, MI!

I've decided that I'm not a very big fan of this state. That's all I'm saying about that.

We had two shows this morning that went less than brilliantly. Our Scrooge woke up with a sore throat and a bum shoulder, our Mrs. Crachitt couldn't breathe through her nose, I also woke up with a sore throat (from having the heat on in our hotel room last night), and Tiny Tim just didn't have her head on straight through the entire first show. It was a mess. But they fed us, so we saved some of our per diem, which is a good thing.

And now I'm off to shower and sleep - we have load-in, two shows and a load-out tomorrow, and I'm fairly pooped so...goodnight!!

And sharing a can
And vocal strain
And -
No Levain

I had another memory flashback.

Who here, with vivid memories of late 195s TV, and "Wagon Train" in particular, recall an episode with Patty McCormack?

When I had to have my root canal, I had an appointment for a Monday morning.  I suffered in extreme pain through a very long weekend.  I was ever so glad to keep that appointment that Monday morning; it was actually a huge relief!
