Well, you've read the notes, the notes had nine moving lights, and now it is time for you to post until the nine moving cows come home.

Uhhhh...Seems like today's column is still yesterday's column.

I'm probably doing something wrong. But you know, the front page of www.haineshisway.com is still the "I'm Still Here" column. I did try refreshing the page. Hmmmm.

Weird. Suddenly it's NINE MOVING LIGHTS.

I have heard the vocal version from the TV show, but not this. It is nice. I think the reason that I didn't like it was because of the lyrics and especially the line, "Suicide is painless." I was very young when I first heard it and just didn't understand any of it. I mean, what did it all mean?? This is a show about doctors in Korea. Who is killing him-(or her)-self??
-
And speaking of "Gilligan's Island," click HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJZ5YZ4qmD0) for the original unaired pilot version! I think it's been posted here before, but if it has, it's been a while. :)

You obviously didn't see the film. The song is referencing one of the movie's subplots.
In the Robert Altman film, the 4077th unit's dentist is known as the Painless Pole (played by John Schuck). He's a ladies' man type who experiences one night of inexplicable impotence. He jumps to the conclusion that he must be gay, so he wants to kill himself. The other doctors agree to help him commit suicide, but in secret, they conspire to save his life. The succeed, and Painless doesn't commit suicide. Suicide is painless -- get it?

Gee, what decade did *I* grow up in?
What, no Beverly Hillbillies: Ballad of Jed Clampett

Farm livin’ is the life for me.
Land spreadin’ out so far and wide
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.

I'm not a Bollywood fan, but for some reason, I did see Bombay Dreams in London in 2002. The only thing I recall about it was that it had very colorful sets and costumes.
And that it had absolutely nothing to do with Dollywood, the Pigeon Forge, Tennessee-based theme park.

It's a shame that because of the increase commercial times which makes the running time shorter tv shows mostly fogo theme songs in favor of plot. I miss theme songs.

All In the Family (Those Were the Days)
Angie (Different Worlds)

The Golden Girls ("Thank You for Being a Friend")
Maude ("And Then There's Maude")
The Greatest American Hero ("Believe It Or Not")

"With A Little Love" from short-lived "Debbie Reynolds Show" (which became more hip :) when it was used by the Monty Python troupe as the theme song for "The Attila the Hun Show."

RE: bagging items at the grocery store.
HEre we have the self-check out cashes. We also have some grocery stores where you pack it yourself. And some where they do it for you.
I actually don't mind doing it myself. That way i can put the things i want together.
I'm not that fond of when they have little kids bagging for charities. They do not know what items to put together. I'd rather they just had a donation tray.

DR BrettySpaghetti, I took a gander at you list of favorite movies.
I'll keep my LAWRENCE OF ARABIA as a favorite film, if not my all-time favorite, for as long as you keep AMERICAN BEAUTY on your list, and we'll call it even.
Perhaps some other DRs can explain to me the appeal of AMERICAN BEAUTY, for as I've previously stated, I find it to be one of the more pretentious pieces of claptrap that I have ever seen.
As for LAWRENCE, not even the superbit dvd can replicate the sheer magnitude this film has on a super-sized theater screen, so it's a film I watch on rare, special occasions - e.g., it makes for great dvd viewing on a cold winter night.

Saturday morning greetings! It's an information-waitressing day.
TOD - After I'd moved away from Michigan and missing it very much, I was driving up there to visit my parents. Just as I passed the Ann Arbor exits, the song on the radio was all about welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. I found out later it was the theme from Welcome Back, Kotter. Even though I never watched the show, I always liked the theme song.
"Love is All Around," from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, has been in my head a lot as I prepare to fly to Minneapolis on Tuesday.

Yes, PSYCH was renewed ahead of MONK by USA because of Tony Shahoub's contract which had to be negotiated before they'd OK a seventh season.
And, yes, DR George, the NBC runs on Sunday night will be rerun episodes of both shows. Before the writers' strike, NBC had planned to run LAW & ORDER and MEDIUM in a two hour block on Sunday night after football season concluded. With the strike, they had to ditch those plans and use those two shows in more familiar (and lucrative) timeslots.
I'd be surprised if they don't return to those slots next season. NBC would be very foolish to move them now that they've regained audience support at those times. Of course, NBC has made A LOT of foolish decisions in the past few years, so who knows where they'll go next year. Possibly back to the bench for midseason again.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I just got to the point last night where I knew that if I tried to stay awake even just one minute more, I was going to fall asleep sitting at my computer - and probably eventually end up sleeping on my computer. So, I hied myself to my bedroom, tucked myself into bed, turned off the lights, and the next thing I knew it was 8:30 this morning. But since I'm not working today, I allowed myself to stay in bed until a littler after 10:00... :)
-
I actually slept rather well last night, however, I had some strange dreams. It was like a series of vignettes starring myself and someone else from various parts of my life. And each segment would end with both of us going in for a kiss... And then it was right on to the next chapter. Sort of strange, sort of strangely romantic, and, in some cases, just plain creepy. -No more Deep-Fried Cadbury Eggs for me! ;)
-
Good Morning Amy, Jose & Michael! ;D

Good Morning Matt H! ;D
-
...And I just started running the dishwasher which, from what I could tell, was 'attempted' to run last night, but someone shut it off after the cycle had started. However, after I started it up again, it started making a big rumbling noise - which means we have an airlock somewhere in the pipes. I just let it run another second or two, and that cleared it up. So, in a few more minutes, we shall have clean dishes again. *And I guess I need to remind my roomies to stop pushing food garbage down the drain - which will also serve as a reminder that we don't have a garbage disposal. -'Cause when food stuffs get caught in the main drain, it can cause an airlock with the dishwasher's drainage system.

Last night, DR Ron Pulliam responded/commented:
This is an easily solved problem, Jose. Take a cloth shopping bag with you and put all your things inside it.
I actually have a much simpler solution which I utilize: I simply take the box and/or bottle out of the bags at the end of the conveyor belt, and carry them back to my apartment - which is just a block away - by hand.

The theme song from PHYLLIS is another favorite, even though the ending joke had gotten just a little old by the fifteenth time I saw it.
"Who makes the fog surrounding the Golden Gate simply disappear?
Phyllis.
Phyllis.
Who makes the warning bells on the cable cars play the "Gangs All Here"?
Phyllis.
Phyllis.
Who charms the crabs at Fisherman's Wharf right out of their shell?
Who lights the lamps of Chinatown just by walking in view...
Who?
Phyllis!
Phyllis!
Phyllis!
It sure isn't you!"

Like the circles that you find
In the TOHUBOHU of your mind

At least not officially.
-
Good morning, all! I slept very late and had quite peculiar dreams, including a long and convoluted one about my late mother and a road trip. I'm down emotionally at the moment: I think three intense months of battling pestilence, a desire to accomplish things I cannot at the moment, inertia on the job front, discontent with what I've accomplished lately, and a slow cash flow have me in a depression. I really don't want to get out of bed and these dreams abput my late parents are getting to me. I am moving, showered, dressed, and contemplating the ins and outs of doing laundry or postponing it till tomorrow. Since I hate clutter, I'll probably cave in and begin it shortly.

And note the internal rhyme of "Figalilly" with "silly."

I have a college boy coming over at 10 am to give me an estimate on house painting, but first I must shower, shave and walk to dog.
If there ever has been another sentence ripe with so much euphemism... ;)
-
I'd catch up on last night's posts, but I've got errands to take care of before getting to work. Laters.

Perhaps some other DRs can explain to me the appeal of AMERICAN BEAUTY, for as I've previously stated, I find it to be one of the more pretentious pieces of claptrap that I have ever seen.
For what it's worth, I agree with you, TD, on AMERICAN BEAUTY. I, too, found it pretentious. Did it set out to be the Great American Film? It wasn't.
Just my two cents.

Oh! I just checked my mail, and it appears everyone's accounting departments over the past few weeks have been running slow... And I can actually still make it to my bank to make a deposit if I leave now! :)

Hello, everyone.
Since it's a holiday weekend for many, let me wish all of you who are observing religious traditions, a fine whatever. For those of us who are not, such as myself, I wish you all a relaxed and pleasant weekend.
I have a pile of old movies, plus my Netflix DVDs, to look forward to. And that's ALL I wish to do this weekend!

TOD:
I've always loved the theme to RAWHIDE. I understand that the TEN TENORS have recorded it, which surprised, but pleased, me.
-
I often hear RAWHIDE played on the radio, far more than any other theme song.
Jeanne, enjoy your relaxing weekend.
-
If there ever has been another sentence ripe with so much euphemism... ;)
An excellent way to phrase what I was thinking!
-
And the word of the day is: TOHUBOHU!
Wasn't that an ill-fated musical with Sally Ann Howe?
-
It should be noted that the theme song for The Golden Girls was not written for the show.
"Thank You for Being a Friend" was a semi-hit single for writer/singer Andrew Gold, who included it on his third album, "All This and Heaven Too," released in 1978. The television series didn't reach the airwaves until 1985.
I'll betcha y'all already know Andrew is the son of Ernest (Exodus) Gold and Marni Nixon.
-
I used to tip the baggers for helping take the groceries to my car. Most markets had a no tipping rule & I eventually got out of the habit of offering money that wasn't accepted.
-
I have cleaning and dusting to do.
-
I often hear RAWHIDE played on the radio, far more than any other theme song.
Really? I never hear it played. But, then again, I always listen to the classical station. ;)
Jeanne, enjoy your relaxing weekend.
Thanks. I intend to.

Must off. I need to finish my Saturday chores.

Good morning. DH and his family are going to the Grand Canyon. This morning DD, DH, Mae-Ling, Wae-Ling and I will color Easter Eggs at the church.

Please accept my sincerest "early" Passover AND Easter greetings (http://home.att.net/~solos_holiday/2008/_011/egg.htm), one and all!

Pesach is about a month away still. Easter comes as early as it can this year.

Spring Equinox + Full Moon + Day-before-a-holiday = Library Weirdness
A perfect storm.

TOD:
Favorite TV Theme Songs:
"I Married Joan" (the first TV song I ever learned by heart)
"Greatest American Hero" (for its absolutely perfect relevance)
"Family Ties" (for its harmonies)
"Facts of Life" (for its cheesiness)
And I'll add my non-TOD "Favorite TV Main Themes":
"Dynasty"
"Perry Mason"
"Bonanza"
"Wonderful World of Disney"
"Lassie"
"My Friend Flicka"

And yet, my greetings are in advance of "both" events!

Can anyone tell me the connection between the themes of Perry Mason and Golden Girls? :)

This is a really weird year--I don't remember Pesach and Easter ever being this far apart before.

And "Killing Me Softly" was a song off a mostly forgotten (low-selling) album that Clint Eastwood had and used forn "Play Misty For Me", thus making it "famous" as "Golden Girls" did its borrowed song.
And ditto "As Time Goes By"...it became "known" and "associated" only with "Casablanca."
So, in effect, it doesn't matter what the songs were written for...it's only important that they became famous in association with TV shows and movies, for which they are remembered.
And, thus, they are themes from those shows/movies.

According to WikiAnswers, Cynthia Fee.

This is a really weird year--I don't remember Pesach and Easter ever being this far apart before.
Considering that Easter is tied, biblically, to Passover, you'd think those Medieval Monks could have worked out a scheme to keep it so.
Of course, most Christians think Sunday is the Sabbath, so it's a lost cause.

All valid points. But while there are undoubtedly people who will forever connect "Thank You for Being a Friend" with the Golden Girls -- and I have no problem with it being anybody's favorite TV theme song -- the fact is that Gold had a Top-25 hit with it in 1978. It's not like it was just lying around unnoticed. I'm one of those who remember it as the radio hit it was, years before people started connecting it with Bea Arthur.
I met and interviewed Andrew Gold once. He's a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. "Lonely Boy" is a favorite of mine. :)

Well, then, you should be able to easily answer the connection to Perry Mason, hint, hint, nudge, nudge, say n'more.

It's that pesky difference between a solar and lunar calendar that's to blame.
-
I remember Andrew Gold from his work on Linda Ronstadt's recordings, before he soloed with the album which produced "Thank You for Being My Friend."
I also really like the cover art for that album:

Our building super has befriended down the block a family made up of the offspring of first cousins, and he's allowed them laundry access in our basement. They have tied up the dryers for the past 4 hours and I want them dead today. For what they've wasted in hours today they could have used the expensive laundromat down the street where I do my bedding and it wpuld have cost them probably no more for an hour than they've spent in the past four downstairs. Since they're screwing mup my schedule today, I am not happy at all. Not in the least.

It is snowing in beautiful downtown Dayton, Ohio.

Would you mind driving over to beautiful downtown Cleveland and physically assaulting a deadbeat, and completely idiotic and rude to boot, bidder on one of my eBay items? Thanks ever so.

Oy--having close to an acre sure sounds like a good idea until it's time to mow the lawn. And wet lawn at that.
-

How 'bout if I just take it out on one of the deadbeats right here in my library?
-
Sitting at the local Oil Changers getting lubed and changed including the transmission fluid. Sometimes I wish I didn't have a car :)
-
I just called my landlord and complained about the folk in the basement: she's been tying up one dryer with what I believe is the same load of clothes for 3 hours now! And since i've been waiting 2 of those hours for the dryer I'm very pissed.

Speaking of which, here's a bit of news from the Doctor Who News Page (http://www.gallifreyone.com/news.php):So, for all the Torchwood fans out there, it seems that a good snogging can at least get you nominated!
It was actually quite a beautiful love story, one I would love to have seen go for a 3-episode story arc to give the two actors a chance to really explore their characters and their feelings.
-
WOD: I am constantly in a state of tohubohu. :-\
Isn't that the capital of Hawaii?
-
Speaking of basements, the building in which I work has 2 underground levels. The "upper" level (first floor below ground) is a public area, housing the magazine department. The "lower" level (second floor below ground) is closed stacks, housing about 2/3 of the books available here at Main. There is rather severe flooding in that area and we've been unable to retrieve all the books that patrons have requested today.
-
I watched a couple of NUMB3RS episodes to begin my afternoon of viewing. The first was a story of sexual predators being hunted down by a serial killer. Very surprising identity of the murderer. I liked this episode.
-
I hope you are feeling somewhat more upbeat, DR Elmore. Always sorry to hear when you're down.
-
A second NUMB3RS episode dealt with co-star Peter MacNichol's exit for the series for a time (supposedly going up on a NASA space shuttle) but actually the actor was cast on '24' that season and was busy on another set for half the season.
-
Oh, the mystery that revolved around that story had to do with a MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE type story with trained assassins who would kill specific people and then kill themselves. Very interesting variation on that famous story.
-
I also watched the men's short programs at the World Figure Skating Championships. My goodness, former world champions slipping, sliding, and falling all over the place and yet less than 2 points out of the lead. Despite the much ballyhooed point system they now use, nothing seems much changed about the fantasyland of scoring figure skating.
-
I hope you are feeling somewhat more upbeat, DR Elmore. Always sorry to hear when you're down.
My depressions are doozies! I'm happy that you're feeling better now. OPf course, after a down morning, I feel as though all that negative energy has been directed to the guests taking over using the laundry room
-
Since THE CHIPMUNK ADVENTURE is only 76 minutes long and there is only one bonus feature on the disc, I decided I'd put it off until tonight to watch. Will pick up with it when I go downstairs later.
-
Yes, I can't believe I didn't list RAWHIDE as a favorite TV theme. Same with HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL.
-
{{{{{DR Elmore}}}}}
I'd like to throw you a taco party or something, but virtual hugs will have to do for now...
-
Signing off for now to help close up the library. When I get home, DS Rob and his girlfriend will probably be there to share a pizza and movie with us. Tonight will be the first time Richard and I have eaten dinner together since this past Monday.
Oh, we also have an Easter dinner table to get ready before leaving for church in the morning.
Bye for now.
-
Back from a good and short rehearsal. Fun cast!
-
Nobody here but us chickens. I think I shall make a sandwich and watch a DVD.

I'm heading down now to watch some stuff.

And now I'm REALLY going!

Those morons held up the laundry for 6 hrs today! And they're guests. According to my rules of order, they stank after three hours.
My last loads of laundry are now in the dryers, and I think I may watch the rest of THE CHANGELING with Helen Mirren from her BBC set. I do believe Christopher Bond took his SWEENEY TODD lunatic asylum from this Jacobean play; he's admitted borrowing from the Jacobean revenge tragedies, the COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, and other sources for his version. When I stopped watching last night, the lunatics have been invited to "perform" at the wedding of Beatrice-Joanna (Ms Mirren) to the man she loves, but she's already had the man to whom her father betrothed her murdered and been blackmailed into becoming the sexual slave of the murderer she hired. I don't think it's going to end well for anyone.
-
I gotta tell you. I'm watching episodes of The Rookies - haven't seen it since 1972.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS TO

STEVE AND ANDY!

Good Evening!
We're walking, we're walking...
My friend, Michael, met me at my apartment earlier this afternoon. I had wanted to check out a few (more) places on the Lower East Side, so we figured we'd just walk east and catch the 4 or 6 train down to Union Square and proceed from there. Well, once we left my place, we walked down 145th to Adam Clayton Powell Blvd., then down ACP to 125th, then down 125th to Lexington Ave. to catch the train. Whew!
-But it was a gorgeous(!!!!) day today. Perfect for a leisurely walk.
-
Once we reached Union Square, we noticed all these people carrying pillows who were dressed in pajamas. At first we thought it was some sort of Easter weekend sleepover deal, but then we found that we were about to witness...
International Pillow Fight Day! (http://www.pillowfightday.com/)
Who knew? :)
-
Well, the college guy from www.collegeworks.com never bothered to show up this morning to give me an estimate, so I guess I will cross them off the list of potential house painters.
-
I treated myself to a quick Indian lunch and then came home and mowed, weeded, and did other lawn work types of things.
I am now exhausted.
-
;D
This is a really weird year--I don't remember Pesach and Easter ever being this far apart before.
That is because Easter is on the earliest date in our lifetime. Did someone post a link to this news tidbit?
-
After walking east along 14th Street, then we took a right on Avenue A. Then the real fun began! Here's a partial list of today's culinary highlights:
Caracas Arepa Bar (http://www.caracasarepabar.com/) - Lunch. Very good arepas and some of the best hot sauce I've ever had. Just the right amount of heat, and lots of other flavors going on besides just "hot".
Australian Homemade Premium Ice Cream and Chocolates (http://www.australianhomemade.com/index.asp) - Dessert.
Economy Candy (http://www.economycandy.com/) - Just some goodies for the Easter baskets.
Russ & Daughters (http://russanddaughters.com/) - I got my "Super Heeb", and some Nova.
Doughnut Plant (http://doughnutplant.com/) - By the time we got there, they were down to their last couple dozen, and the counter guy was randomly discounting everyone's purchases. 'Cause once they're gone, they're gone, and he can close up! ;) -Oh, for tomorrow's Easter breakfast: Toasted Almond, Orange, Tres Leches.
Roni-Sue's Chocolates (http://www.roni-sue.com/) - Carrot Cake Truffles! -Easter goodie/presents, ya' know. And she even threw in a some of her amazing Earl Grey-Lavender-Honey Lollipops gratis!
-

Perhaps there's a large warning about you posted on their wall?
On to another topic, I heard the greatest dish but I cannot say a word about a certain Tony winner!
-
DR elmore - Did you get my voicemail message?
-
And now to watch some Bollywood...tonight will be YEH RAAT PHIR NA AAYGI (1966) starring Prithviraj Kapoor, Biswajeet, Sharmila Tagore, and Mumtaz....4 of my favorite vintage Bollywood performers...I don't know the plot, other then it is a murder mystery.

DR Jose, I just discovered your message; you must have called while I was waiting for the laundry. I'm in for the evening.
Did I mention the good news? Patrick's check arrived today. Very speedy payer he is. I wish that all were so quick on the draw.

I called around 6:30, I think. No worries. I just got a call from a friend who wondered what I was up to this evening, and told him I was planning on seeing Amanda McBroom at the Metropolitan Room... "OH! I would love to see her!" So, he'll be accompanying me to see her and Michelle Brourman tonight.
-Do you have Easter plans?
-
You will still be missed, DR elmore.
-And glad to hear that you had some monetary renumeration arrive in today's mail too!
-
Jose, please say hi to Amanda for me
-
I'm quite tired.
-
Really? I never hear it played. But, then again, I always listen to the classical station. ;)
My favorite local stations went to talk radio, the last just about the time I got this car.....the car with satellite radio. For the most part I listen to the 40's station, alternating between the 50's, jazz, and classical stations. Sometimes I roam into the 60's & 70's with a stop on Broadway.
-
Jose, please say hi to Amanda for me
I already planned to! :)

Yes, work: The Brain From Planet X and some band layouts for the Men's chorus. Call me on my cell tomorrow!

Just the sort of movie to watch when you are depressed.
I'm glad you have been able to do your laundry without going to the laundromat. It's one thing to do a load of wash while visiting, but all your laundry :o

DR Jane - As I was leaving Russ & Daughters, they were bringing out a fresh "wheel" of halvah. Needless to say, I thought of you. ;)
:D Did you take a photo? ;)

I had a 9 a.m. haircut today. Across the street is one of my favorite bakeries...a cooperative business going by the name "Arizmendi."
Before going to my appointment I bought a cheese roll for myself and a blueberry scone for my tonsorialist, Erin. One more thing caught my eye...they had small loaves of Monkey Bread! I'd never seen it there before. I have a loaf in my kitchen awaiting my pleasure!
-
Well, the college guy from www.collegeworks.com never bothered to show up this morning to give me an estimate, so I guess I will cross them off the list of potential house painters.
We used them for a small area once. I don't recall if sanding the old paint off is something they do. You might check, if you give them a second chance.

Greetings to all!
Just resting up for a big day of singing tomorrow. Fortunately, the church where I sing is not doing a "Vigil" service tonight.
-
DR JoseSPiano - did you grab a pillow and join in? Were the feathers flying? :)
And more importantly - did any of the male participants go sans pajama tops?
-
After two years of boiling water to do laundry in the bathtub, Craig was very happy to have a washing machine, even if it was the smallest washing machine I have ever seen.
After two years of laundry hanging all around his apartment he is very happy to leave his laundry at the Laundromat where they charge by the pound to wash the clothes for him. It is conveniently located near his home, and reasonably priced. Originally this was a short term arrangement as the “wonderful, nice” landlord in Pittsburgh promised to replace the broken machines in the basement. That was only one of the many broken promises.

SINGDAW: Is this what you had in mind?
-
My mom sent me something in e-mail today that is very moving.
It's a talk by woman who had a stroke. (http://www.ted.com/talks/view /id/229) The fascinating thing about it is that she is a scientist who studies the brain. She explains what she experienced while it was happening (she had a brain hemorrhage) and what profound discoveries she made about the brain's function as she was experiencing it switching her back and forth between the right cortex and the left cortex -- meaning they weren't working together, but separately and she saw life and herself in a wholly new and different way.
I think it's powerful. It takes about 18 minutes to watch it but when I started it I couldn't stop listening.
She's a very dynamic, expressive speaker.
-
SINGDAW: Is this what you had in mind?
That would be it! Although DR JoseSPiano said it was a nice day - which it was - it was still a bit cool for this sort of behavior, one would think!
-
Thank-you Ron - it was a bit much on an empty stomach ;D

And so to bed! Good night.
And Happy Easter to those celebrating.

So, I'm watching my third episode of The Rookies. The first was not so good, the second much better, and the director of the second, Leonard Horn, is very good and took them off the lot, so some really nice West LA location shots (the show was filmed at Fox). The third episode comes on. First, there's a long sequence somewhere in Santa Monica that I couldn't quite figure out. Then, the next sequence takes place at what was left of Pacific Ocean Park in 1972, i.e. burnt timbers and the apartment highrise where I lived for eight years, the Shores. Later in the show, they're driving down a street in Santa Monica, they turn, and suddenly pull up in front of a liquor store the bad guys are casing. Now, that is some neat turn - to turn from a street in Santa Monica and a moment later pull up in front of Ringside Liquor - which is - wait for it - THREE BLOCKS FROM MY HOME ENVIRONMENT, at the corner of Whitsett and Moorpark. It's still there, still called Ringside. I couldn't believe it. Ringside is on the southwest corner. On the other three corners - all gas stations. You're lucky if you can find a gas station once in a mile on Moorpark right now, and here we had three next to each other. One of them is a car repair place and looks exactly the same. The other is a smog check station, and the third is the Studio City Library. Otherwise, all the buildings look exactly the same except that most of Moorpark to the east of Whitsett is lined with tall bushes.
-
For easter tomorrow i will be making a turkey. My first ever. It is one that you cook from frozen. Hopefully it will turn out!
-
Not only do you get excellent shots of the exterior of the store, both front and back, but they shot inside, too - basically it still looks the same inside.
-
That would be it! Although DR JoseSPiano said it was a nice day - which it was - it was still a bit cool for this sort of behavior, one would think!
That one was from 2007...Google didn't have photos available for today's festivity.
The comments from der Brucer and Elmore are about a "different" photo I posted...but thought better of after I posted the one you saw. It was, as Elmore's comment indicates, not on a similar "par" with the photo I left on the page.

And so to bed! Good night.
And Happy Easter to those celebrating.
I googled "topless, men"...and I selected "images" from the menu bar so as to see what might be in the offing and "VOILA!" "He" was smack in the middle of a sea of chiseled chests.
Still...he's more to be pitied than censured...so I decided I had erred in my attempt to tease singdaw with it.

It was a sad photo, thank you for deleting it.;D

And I noticed you deleted it before anyone commented.

After the attempted hold up, one of the bad guys exits the store and starts to run down Whitsett. In the next cut he's running down a completely different street a block from the beach. The magic of movie geography.

After not too much sleuthing, I think I know the photo being referred to. ;)

I never really liked the M*A*S*H theme song. I don't know why...it just wasn't the kind of song I was interested in. But I love the others you've listed.
Our fourth grade chorus sang Suicide is Painless....funny no parents complained back then. They probably couldn't understand the lyrics.

I just realized a couple of minutes ago that Guy Haines (the legend, the engima, et al) is the fellow who sang "Guess We May As Well Stay Married Now." That's another example of a cut song that I liked better than the rest of the released OCR selections.

Guy Haines also sings the best "Corner of the Sky" you'll EVER hear, DR BrettySpaghetti. 8)

In the film CINDERELLA LIBERTY, James Caan was in a bar that was located on First Avenue in downtown Seattle. He walked out of the bar and he was on Pacific Avenue in Tacoma where he walked across to the Tacoma Greyhound Bus Depot. Watching the movie in a Tacoma theater resulted in a loud guffaw over the mixed geography.

Reminds me of the illogical ways Bruce Willis and Sarah Jessica Parker got around Pittsburgh in STRIKING DISTANCE.

Hi TD! Just got caught up
-
I bought 2 pair of glasses today....Good heavens are they expensive. But my favorites are pretty funky and would not work when I need to dress up or be in more conservative settings. But I REALLY like them and since I really never wear my contacts anymore, I decided to go ahead and get two pair.
I did get a great discount using my AAA membership. I always forget to ask if they have AAA discounts but for some reason I did ask today and was surprised today when they said yes. It was over 30% off.

Funny you should mention that, Cillaliz, I just got a new pair of glasses that I am going to save for dress-up occasions only.

LOL! I'm really not going to save the pair for dress up occasions, but there are times, like jury trials when I may not want the focus to be on my glasses....well, maybe if I have a lousy case I wouldn't mind that...

Such interesting links today!
Thanks to all and sundry this Saturday.

Not a classic for TOD - but jaw dropping:

Easter has been canceled this year, I am sorry to report.

I watched The Rookies every week. Michael Ontkean became a lifelong favorite actor of mine beginning with this show....and his battles with producer Aaron Spelling to wear his hair CURLY.....quite the news back then.
-
Had a full night of viewing. I began with another NUMB3RS episode. This one was about a religious cult whose pastor was so eager to procreate that he was marrying young teens. Crazy, sad story.

How in the world did I ever miss this show!
-
Next I watched THE CHIPMUNK ADVENTURE. The Chipmunks and the Chipettes (three female counterparts) are the stars of the show. "David Seville" goes away on a business trip to Europe and leaves them all under the care of Miss Miller (voiced by the funny Dody Goodman).
The animation is only slightly better than you'd see on TV back when this was done (1987). Lots of music, though. I guess it wouldn't be a Chipmunks movie without a lot of songs sung in their unique style. (The CD soundtrack was also part of the package.)
Thankfully, it wasn't too long, 70 minutes or so.
-
My Bollywood movie turned out not to be a murder mystery at all but instead is shaping up to be a ghost/reincarnation film.
So far the film makers have stolen the them music from EXODUS (for the scene in the art gallery) and GOLDFINGER (for a chase scene).
-
How in the world did I ever miss this show!
Be very very grateful. :P
Loved TORCHWOOD tonight!
-
Since I had a good portion of the evening still left, I decided to watch a Blu-ray I got this week (not for review, just for fun): I AM LEGEND. A thousand times more exciting and involving than Charlton Heston's THE OMEGA MAN even though the story is basically the same with alterations here and there. The night people are CGI creations rather than real actors, but I'll admit I jumped in my chair a couple of times.
A good popcorn movie.
-
My goodness - TORCHWOOD. Almost a comedy of errors tonight and yet exciting and scary a bit, too. Really ran the gamut this week.
Wonder if we'll find out more about Jack and that photo we looked at with him. Perhaps DOCTOR WHO fanatics can explain that picture to those of us who are ignorant.
-
Intriguing photo, yes.....and a nice wedding dance too.
-
I think I shall go to bed.
There is a short subject on the Ballet Rousse on TCM early in the morning, and I may...MAY decide to see if I can watch AN AMERICAN IN PARIS and revisit my low opinion of it.......it is a day for miracles, they say.
-
I've got to write for a little while. Then, I'll be heading down to bed myself.
Good night!
-
DR td - glad you are enjoying your new iPod!! :)

I've caught up and am now ready to sleep.
No connection between those two things, of course.
-
Just finished a horribly horrible movie - something called Gone Baby Gone. I should have been Gone Baby Gone directly after the oh so courant terrible opening narration.
-
Will we never get to page eleven?
-
Nobody here but us chickens.
-
Good evening...
Sorry for being errant and truant due to being insanely busy...
-
TOD
Gilligan's Island... (I have a rendition someone did as an ode to the internet...)
Partridge Family
Greatest American hero

Facts of Life
Brady Bunch

This was a fairly well-acclaimed movie, with at least one Oscar nomination. Yet I can't say I enjoyed it very much either.
-
After the attempted hold up, one of the bad guys exits the store and starts to run down Whitsett. In the next cut he's running down a completely different street a block from the beach. The magic of movie geography.
My story of movie magic.
The very first movie I ever worked on was a film called Final Assignment. Took place in Moscow and other places in Russia, but filmed in Montreal. There is a scene where Genevieve Bujold comes out of a hotel (The Ritz Carleton Hotel on Sherbrooke St.) She crosses the street and bang! She is several miles away in Old Montreal!!!
-
BK, why do you keep watching such horrible movies!
You should watch something from India instead.
-
Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi was quite good...lots of scarry spookiness, and fog machines all over the place.
It took me some time to watch the whole film as I got up to get a glass of water...passed by the bedroom and saw Dog Bosco sleeping on my bed. Just for a minute I thought I would go and cuddle with him....just for a minute. Well, 1 and 1/2 hours later I woke up.
-
I want to watch another movie but I know I have to get up early and head up to my sister's house in Aumsville for Easter breakfast. I am supposed to bring cinnamon rolls, but I happened past a Mexican bakery today...and everything looked so colorful and smelled so good...well, there will be a nice variety of items for everyone.
-
If you read the imdb comments on Gone Baby Gone you'd think the film was Citizen Kane.
-
People come, people go, like Grand Hotel.
-
Well, there are seven GUESTS.
-
I'm back from two, count 'em TWO good performances of Side Show. We had a smallish audience for the matinee and the evening show was about three-quarters full, and both audiences enjoyed the shows very much. :) They like us! They really like us!
;)
-
Now back to page 3 to ketchup! ;D
-

And Very Happy (belated) Birthday Wishes for both Andrew Lloyd Webber and BK's close and personal friend, Stephen Sondheim!! ;D
-
"Love is All Around," from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, has been in my head a lot as I prepare to fly to Minneapolis on Tuesday.
I love the cover version by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLXGRrKIv14)!

Good Evening! Good Morning! Happy Easter!
I'm back from seeing Amanda McBroom and Michelle Brourman at The Metropolitan Room. The place was sold out, and I'm glad I got there as early as I did - I was able to get a table just one table away from the stage. Perfect! And both Amanda and Michelle were in top form. Not only did they break my heart a few times throughout their set, but they also made me laugh, and genuinely smile a lot too. -And her encore rendition of "The Rose", truly beautiful. -I'll post more details a couple of hours from now after I've had a good night's sleep.
-
HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkE3-r6vtMU) is the recorded version of the song with video clips of Xena and Gabrielle from "Xena."
-
Oh.. And Amanda and Michelle are working on a new Brel album, which was sort of "previewed" tonight. It's gonna be something truly special.
bk - Amanda sends her love. :)
-
And I also had my camera with me too, and was able to get some pics taken with both of them. In fact, David Zippel kindly volunteered to be the photographer for the evening too. :)
-
-I know, I know.. I could be putting all of this into one post, but since I was E&T a good portion of the day, well...
The best part of the evening for me was being able to catch up with both Amanda and Michelle. It turned out that Michelle had been trying to reach me about a new project of hers sometime last year, but for some unknown reason, all her e-mails to me were getting bounced back, and she had not received my updated NYC cellphone number. However, she said she may have something down the line I might be perfect for. I also got Amanda and Michelle to sign their respective CDs for me. Funny-nice thing: they both signed my CDs "To Jose of the Magic Fingers"... Aww. I needed that. :)
-
And since I'm a bit tired and sleepy....
Goodnight.
-
Thanks for sharing this, DR Ron Pulliam. Fascinating!
I'm glad to see that you found it worthwhile. It was fascinating to me, too.
My father had a massive stroke in 1990. He was taken to a Duke University facility where the doctors drilled two holes into the back of his skull to drain blood from the hemorrhaging. After he regained consciousness and began responding (with blinks of eyes and squeezes of hands), my mother asked him some questions about how he felt.
One of the things he would repeatedly do, and only now does my mother believe she understands exactly what he meant, was to use his left hand (he was paralyzed on his right side) and draw an invisible line from the top of his head down his body. After he regained rudimentary speech and the ability to get around on his own (he was in leg brace and used a walker) she asked him if he remembered doing that and he said yes. He was never able to tell her what it meant, though. We both now believe he meant that he felt divided...half of him existed whole but another half (critical to speech, control of his body) was seriously hurt.
It's, of course, not wholly scientific, but I think this lady's presentation paints a fascinating picture of what can happen when the brain's functions go awry, and the insights you may get into what you're all about.
-
And since I'm a bit tired and sleepy....
Goodnight.
Sweet tooth wishes and Monkey bread dreams.
-
PAGE 11 DANCE!!
-
Jose, that's so cool about Amanda McBroom and Michelle Brourman!
-
And David Zippel! :D
-
Other faves were:
the title song from the short-lived "Makin' It" (which later became a hit single when it was included in a film)
I used to love this song, too! I even think I might still have it on a cassette tape somewhere. ;)
-
It should be noted that the theme song for The Golden Girls was not written for the show.
I did NOT know this! Thanks for the info. :)

Tomorrow (well, really today since it's after midnight, but we're still on Saturday's posts ::)), my sister, her boyfriend and I are going to see Mamma Mia! in Seattle! We're going to the matinee, so I have to be at my sister's house at 9:00 am! That's early for me...especially on a Sunday, so get there early, I will. I'm still catching up on the posts, so I need to do that before I go to bed. :-\
-
I went to Fred Meyer tonight (the Saturday tonight) and used the self-checkout. I got some cash back since we're going to Seattle in the morning. I entered $35 cash back because I wanted small bills and I got seven brand new, consecutively numbered, redesigned $5 bills! They're pretty cool. Colorful, too.
Just had to share. :)
