Well, you've read the notes, the notes were like a broken record, and now it is time for you to post until the broken cows come home - they're currently broken in Hoboken.
-
And the word of the day is: AFFLATUS!
-
Question for BK: I wanted to ask you about JEEVES -- the original Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, and not the revised version BY JEEVES. This is one of my all-time favorite scores, and I was wondering if you'd ever heard it and what you thought about it.
-
And the word of the day is: AFFLATUS!
Yes, that was inevitable.
-
Yesterday, I had thought of a question to ask today, but I've totally forgotten it. :-\

Well, you know the two worst things about getting older, right? The first is the loss of memory; I can't recall the second thing.

I've heard that too, but I can't remember the second thing, either. ::)

Yesterday, I posted this:
I got an e-mail through Classmates.com, saying I had a message. But I would have to join and pay just to find out who it was from! They wouldn't even tell me that for free. :P
Well, the e-mail that I got said this:
Hi George,
1 person signed your guestbook yesterday! Can you guess who they are?
When I clicked on the link to go to Classmates.com, this is what I get:
These people visited your profile and left their names:
Name Date
Upgrade to see who this is 03/19/2008
Upgrade to see who this is 07/05/2007
So, I would have to pay just to find out who signed "my" guestbook and what they said. :P

I've always enjoyed the score, especially Half A Moment, which I recorded with Laurie Beechman.
-
Welcome eleven GUESTS.

Dino is at the piano...
...and he is playing "Melancholy Baby" in AFFLATUS! ;)
-

Laurie was the narrator from JOSEPH who succumbed to cancer, is that correct?
I didn't know you recorded Half a Moment. That's such a great song.

I hope all is well....
Since I have been up most of the night sitting I have been doing research for DBF on pics for a trivia contest. JRand even helped....Thanks Jrand!
-
Ben, Is Ant auditioning or did he land a part?
-
nice avatar Bretty...
-
I send good thoughts to him...

It is supposed to be in the mid to upper 50s today
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And so are the ConEd workers who started their jackhammers right at 7:00am this morning - my alarm went off at 7:00, and a split second later the jackhammers started outside my window. No snooze alarm for me this morning. -Although, it's awfully quiet now outside... Hmm....
-
Don't you mean "Broken CD"?
;)
-
-Although, broken cassettes always made me laugh - at least until I had to snap off the front of the player and start unwinding all the tape that had caught up in all those capstans(?) and gears.
-
Yesterday, I posted this:Well, the e-mail that I got said this:When I clicked on the link to go to Classmates.com, this is what I get:So, I would have to pay just to find out who signed "my" guestbook and what they said. :P
I've always thought some of those Classmates.com/Reunions.com/etc.com e-mails were SPAM. It just doesn't make sense to me to have to pay for information that someone else sent to me "freely". And just how could I have a guestbook, if I've never registered for the site in the first place. Yes, I know they scour for yearbooks and collate all the info, but that's not the same thing as if I registered myself. -Right?
-
So, as for "American Idol"....
Are they really going to send someone home this week? Didn't they not send someone home during the "Idol Gives Back" week last yet? -Just to keep with the spirit of the week.
-
And as for "Hell's Kitchen"...
Frankly, I would not trust or hire any of the current contestants to be my executive chef for my new restaurant in Los Angeles. Although, since the current season wrapped up months ago - the finale was already filmed here in NYC at Gordon Ramsay at the London - I'm guessing that would provide a couple of extra months to get the winner "in shape" for such a position.
-
Hmm... What else did I watch last night? ;)
Oh, yes... As for "Dancing With The Stars"...
:)
-

-
I won't ask, don't dance me.
-
I have a meeting at 11am.
-
I will then go to the Union Square Greenmarket at noon and purchase varied and sundried products for our consumption during the remainder of the week.
-
Anthony is off auditioning this morning. It's a production of No, No Nanette. I can't remember who's doing it or where it's being done.
He didn't get the part of one of the fathers in The Fantasticks (being done in Texas and being directed by Tom Jones himself).
-
all the tape that had caught up in all those capstans(?)
O Capstan, My Capstan!
-
He will then wander off to Lincoln Center Library to peruse CDs and DVDs for our possible viewing over the weekend. This past weekend we watched the 1997 American Masters production on Vaudeville, narrated by Ben Vereen. We also watched Footlight Parade and two classic Warner Brother's cartoons, both with scores taken from songs in Footlight Parade.
-
After the library he will go to a dance class.
-
I am up due to not having an inhaler handy and the drugstore is closed!

Is there an echo in here? ;)
DR DakotaCelt - I have never heard of "snow mold"! :o
Hope the drug store opens soon and that you soon feel better!

After dinner today I'm meeting a friend who teaches introductory playwrighting at NYU. It's the end of classes and he asks his actor friends to help out the budding authors by reading their plays in class. I've done this 5 or 6 times in the past. It's great fun (even when the plays are not very good). It's nice to still be considered an actor by someone in the business (my friend just directed Larry's good friend Helen Stenborg and Timothy Busfield in a show at Westport Playhouse).
-
My, this was a frenzy, wasn't it. I must get back to Robert Wood Johnson and finish as much as possible before my 11am meeting.
-
don't dance me
Boy, did you pick the wrong partner! ;)
-
Even though the pills take longer to work (about a half hour) I always keep Asthma pills handy in case the inhaler is not around. I rarely need them (I haven't had an attack in years) but I keep them around just in case.
-
I will then go to the Union Square Greenmarket at noon and purchase varied and sundried products for our consumption during the remainder of the week.
Although we have plenty of Farmers' Markets out here in "the country," I'm still jealous of you New Yorkers! :)

I must say, even though it will be a while, I'm looking forward to Evening Primrose. It's one of those things I never, ever, ever, ever (that's 3 evers) thought would come out on CD. Now, as George said yesterday, let's hope for a DVD of the show. I was 14 when the show was aired so I never saw it. Culture wasn't that big a deal in Coon Rapids, Minnesota in 1967.
-
I hope DR Kerry is OK. He hasn't been around these parts for a while.

DR Ben, that is so cool! I would think it would be fun and kind of gratifying. It's great that you do this! :)

I hope DR Kerry is OK. He hasn't been around these parts for a while.
Perhaps DearReaderLaura DR can give us a status update.

Rain predicted for today. Grass seed broadcast and covered with straw, so we shall see if we have a backyard this year instead of a dust bowl.
Thanks to DR MBARNUM, Bosco and Freddie, and to DR JANE, Keith and Sherlock for the lovely cards received this week.
-
Off to do some Wednesday morning things.
-
Well, since I got a slightly earlier start today than planned, I might as well take advantage of the extra time and run an errand or two before my audition session starts. -I just hope I don't disappear into the mists for another 40 years or so after I'm done playing today... Hmm... Or maybe I do? ;)
Laters...
-
Oh, my. You probably won't get to hear any of the newly revised book, the topic of which caused quite a furor at CastRecL if I recall. In subsequent information about the production they seem to have dropped that point. The book is still being revised by John Guare I understand, but the whole issue of making it an anti-war piece seems to have disappeared. This is from Playbill On-Line
The New York Post previously reported that Guare's new book reinvents Brigadoon as "a pacificist town that 'disappeared' in 1939 because its inhabitants didn't want to live in a world torn apart by war.
But the casting notice characterizes the production this way: "Vivid re-imagining of the classic 1947 production; new production with a revised book. Story of Tommy and Jeff, two modern-day American travelers, who stumble back in time to a village in 18th-century Scotland.
-
-I just hope I don't disappear into the mists for another 40 years or so after I'm done playing today...
I thought it was 100 years? Or do you get time off for good behavior?
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Today I'm hosting a brownbag lunch for nonprofit folks and my email contained a message from the guest speaker, confirming that she will be here - Whew!

I forgot to mention in my early morning frenzy that we will be seeing Candide this Sunday afternoon. I had no plans to see it but a friend called. He has 4th Row Orchestra seat and he wanted to know if I wanted the tickets for FREE. I, of course, said yes. Seems he has a previous engagement which cannot be changed so Ant and I get to see Candide. I must find a nice bottle of wine to give to my friend (he's an oenophile) as a thank you. Even if it's not very good, it's still Candide with the glorious overture and wonderful music.
-
Acting vibes to Ben
-
DR Ben - I'll be curious to hear how Daniel Reichard does as Candide.
-
Good morning, all! Last night I took some Nyquil because I was so congested and I slept a long long time. I feel great, now that I'm vertical and out of bed, and I have some fun things to do in my puttering about the apartment: continue the Act II and III notes on LADY OF THE SLIPPER and redo some Duke Ellington scores for the New York City Gay Men's Chorus.
Last night, I read more of John Spence's BECOMING JANE AUSTEN, source for the film and a very thorough biography of Miss Austen's family, and watched many episondes of LAW & ORDER until THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK CITY. I wonder how they picked these ladies for the series?
Later.
-
Time to get ready for my guests...bye for now!
-
So, as for "American Idol"....
Are they really going to send someone home this week? Didn't they not send someone home during the "Idol Gives Back" week last yet? -Just to keep with the spirit of the week.
Last year, the elimination for the week was set to be at the end of the telethon. Producers decided that it would break the spirit of the event to end on such a down note, so it was delayed, and the the following week two people were sent home.
This year, Fox built in an extra elimination episode, so the feel-good vibes from tonight shouldn't be disturbed.
At the same time, they may surprise everyone and not send someone home tomorrow night either. We'll see.
-
Good morning!
Beautiful day here with the bluest sky we've had in many days. Going to be in the 70s today and tomorrow, too, so that's nice.
-
TV Reminders:
IDOL GIVES BACK
new episodes of CSI: NY and CRIMINAL MINDS
-
I will not be watching IDOL GIVES BACK tonight. I plan to watch some movies both this afternoon and this evening, but what as yet has not been decided.
I am reality series-out! After COLLEGE HILL INTERNS and A SHOT AT LOVE, I don't want to see any more of these contrived elimination shows.
It was all I could do to watch IDOL last night, and watching it out of real time allows me to see the entire show in about 25 minutes. That's about all my constitution can stand any more.
-
Speaking of a DVD for EVENING PRIMROSE, who owns the rights to it now? ABC? Sondheim?
I never thought we'd see a commercial recording of the Julie Andrews CINDERELLA, but we finally did get it. Surely EVENING PRIMROSE would look better than that (though admittedly, it is much less famous to the general public).
-
Matt H, you will be glad to know that Jason O'Mara is a cast member in the new TNT series: TRUTH IN ADVERTISING, starring Tom Cavanagh and Eric McCormack as employees of a big ad firm. Griffin Dunne, one of my faves, is another co-star, along with Monica Potter (BOSTON LEGAL) and Sarah Clark (24).
It's written and produced by THE CLOSER team, so it should be good!

I was glad to read that it helped DR TCB, but cranberry juice did nothing for mine. After I had my first one, X-rays revealed I had no more (then) in my kidneys. The doctor put me on a specific meat/fish diet and with cranberry juice as my drink of choice.
Within two years, I had several more stones (and have since passed three more).
I think it's all involved with a person's physiological make-up and has very little to do with what he eats or drinks.

Back when I was twenty, I got my first major kidney stone. I ended up getting rushed to the hospital, staying there in bed for three days on heavy drugs, and the doctor finally deciding to operate to remove it. Over the years, I have had many kidney stones, none as bad as the first time. Each time I got one, the doctor said to drink lots of cranberry juice. I have no idea why it worked, but I always seemed to pass them with less effort and in less time.
About 14 years ago I started drinking, as my cocktail of choice in the evening, Cranberry juice and diet 7-Up. I drink probably three glasses of that a night, over the course of the evening, and I haven't had a kidney stone since.
Other than the fact that it is a diuretic, I have no clue to the reason it works.

And the word of the day is: AFFLATUS!
And The Songs Of The Day Are: COLOR AND LIGHT and FINISHING THE HAT
-
Note to you BOSTON LEGAL fans....
I found it deeply ironic when Alan Shore, scolding the executives of an insensitive TV show, said in his summation: "Psychologically damaged people are paraded onstage to be exploited, ridiculed, taunted...!"
Ahem, BOSTON LEGAL is the show that regularly parades Jerry "Hands" Espenson, the attorney with Asperger's Syndrome, across its stage to mock his habit of making goofy sounds, and Denny "Mad Cow Disease" Crane across its stage to lampoon his walking around with no pants on and other "hilarious" jabs at dementia. These hypocrites can't have it both ways.
-
And the word of the day is: AFFLATUS!
Scientists and poets can have the occasional AFFLATUS - politicians just have mental farts.

They have David A safe (no susprise). And Jason Castro safe (i guess little surprise since he got raves last night). Btw, i did like him last night. But the surprise to me is the other person they have safe. Kristy. I guess i just don't understand how someone can almost go home so many times. And be in the top 3 now.
Anyhow it is too close to call for them between the rest. But David Cook has been the most popular for weeks. So i am surprised he is not safe (even though i thought last night he was just average). I really hope brooke does not go home. And after all the hype carly has received, i would be surprised if she went this early. I am okay with syesha going. Or kristy.

If I can do 100 today, then the rest tomorrow, that would be good. Then, next week, or as soon as the shippers arrive, I'm going to have to have people here to begin addressing them - now I have to check and see if I have enough Kritzerland mailing labels. If not, those take about three days to get.

Even though i wasn't really an adam fan, and even though he was the worst dancer left, i was really sad to see last night's elimination. It's probably becaues julianne is my favorite pro dancer. But i just wanted to see how far adam could go training wise. I was happy to see kristi and marissa safe. I really would not have cared if priscilla had been sent home. She's fine. But i like most of the others better. I'm sad we won't get to see julianne every week. :(

AMERICAN IDOL Spoiler.
Well, actually, all they did was sing. How can talking about a Tuesday IDOL be spoilery?
Anyway, my 2 cents.
The popularity of David Archuleta baffles me. He must be preternaturally cute or something. I find his nasally singing style to be annoying as hell. What am I not getting about this guy?
Jason Castro. Also totally mystifying. He is BEYOND lightweight. I half-expect him to evaporate during any one of his performances. Screwing up the words to the song as badly as he did last night should be immediate grounds for dismissal.
I suppose the bottom three will include Syesha, whom I like, and Carly, whom I do not. I genuinely adore Brooke, but I don't think any of the women have a chance of wearing the crown this year, so it's just a matter of time.

Well for my post at least the spoiler was for the dialidol results (which maybe not everyone would want to know).
But ia agree the spoilers should basically be only for the elimination show.

Oh, my. You probably won't get to hear any of the newly revised book, the topic of which caused quite a furor at CastRecL if I recall. In subsequent information about the production they seem to have dropped that point. The book is still being revised by John Guare I understand, but the whole issue of making it an anti-war piece seems to have disappeared. ...
Just on a tangent here, but have you ever noticed how plays and other pieces of art are often listed as being anti-war, but you never hear of a play or other piece of art being called pro-war?
Just one of those things that flitted through my mind. Brain fart, sorta.
-
Well for my post at least the spoiler was for the dialidol results (which maybe not everyone would want to know).
True dat!
Actually, I knew nothing about this DialIdol thing. Very interesting. They say it has accurately predicted the winner every time.
I've never even considered voting. Has anybody here actually dropped a dime on this show?

1776 PRO-war?
With a song like "Mama, Look Sharp"? A song about death caused by war? About loss caused by war?

I've never run across a review that said the musical makes war sound like a good thing.
1776 is pro-revolution, pro-freedom. It is about throwing off the shackles, whether they be of the tyranny of unjust leadership or the equal tyranny of following a way of thinking simply because that thinking has existed and been followed before. That does not make it pro-war.

DR Ben, I didn't have a chance to listen to Beverly's entire show. I thought maybe she had played Bryn Terfel for me and his other fans, but it must have been a different song...do you know which one it was? My clients wanted to hear her give me a shoutout but didn't have time to hear the whole show.

Just count to ten, and remember what this will look like on YouTube...

Good Afternoon!
Alas, I did not disappear into the mists of the highlands of Scotland, but I did witness some pretty flexible potential Brigadoonizens. ;)
-
Just on a tangent here, but have you ever noticed how plays and other pieces of art are often listed as being anti-war, but you never hear of a play or other piece of art being called pro-war?
DUCK SOUP? "Freedonia's Going To War"!
-
DR Jennifer - Just soak the noodles or give them a good rinse until they're pliable. If you're going to put them into soup, then a good rinse will do - you just want to wash off some of the processing "stuff". Otherwise, soak them in hot water and drain before putting them in your stir-fry. They're sort of foolproof to make in the sense that if you find that they are not soft enough, all you have to do is add some more liquid to the pan and cook them a bit longer.

I am listening to Mike Oldfield's Music of the Spheres. (http://www.amazon.com/Music-Spheres-Mike-Oldfield/dp/B0013XS8A2/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1207764449&sr=8-1) It is interesting, although strongly related musically to Tubular Bells. I'll have to listen to it several times before I can really call a judgement on it.
This, of course, coming from someone who thinks his true masterpiece is Amarok (http://www.amazon.com/Amarok-Mike-Oldfield/dp/B00004T9AT/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1207764700&sr=1-13).

Pretty, DR JoseSPiano! :)

Lots of folks sell those sub-par dupes of dupes of dupes of dupes of Primrose. I have a rather nice copy myself, but you couldn't release it on DVD like that. Years ago, I checked and the master tape (in color) was believed to have been taped over, something the networks did a lot back then. So, it would seem as if the only existing print at the moment resides with the Museum Of Television and Broadcasting in NY. Their print is decent, a 16mm kinescope. One could go off that, but they can't allow anyone to transfer. Furthermore, there's the matter of the John Collier estate, who seem to want to have nothing to do with this film, and the Goldman estate, who've been known to be difficult.

Thanks for the photos, DR Jose! They are, indeed, azaleas, and may be compared to the photo I found via Google:
-
Azaleas, you bet!
-
I think we need to write a hymn for DearReaderLaura to insert into next Sunday's bulletin.
I'm thinking it should rhyme "Come to Jesus" with "Moldy Cheeses."
-

No one can say "You betcha" like Frances McDormand! :)

Went to Staples and ordered 1000 more shipping labels, bought more paper, printing ink, etc. I had two discount cards for the copy center, but not only did they let me use the card for everything I bought (stuff not from the copy center) but they let me use BOTH cards - I saved about 50% off the entire order, basically getting the labels for free. That's what I'M talkin' about.
-
Happily printing away.
-
Must pay more bills today associated with this release. And I have to decide what I'm shipping these things in and what's most cost effective.
-
Thanks, DRs Ron Pulliam and Edisaurus for the Azalea Confirmation. There was another gentleman taking pictures of the blooms, and he asked me what I thought they were. I told him I thought they were azaleas. He thought they were too, but he had never seen an azalea bush that big, and he wondered if they might be some sort of rhododendron or other flower.

-
That "ad" for "The Tudors" actually popped up a few weeks ago. Showtime obviously spent a lot of money on that "wrap" as well as the "wrap" for a number of the double-decker busses in town, as well as phone booth ads. I'm just wondering if Sheraton has any sort of tie-in with the show and/or the network.

Amy, I'll listen to the show again and tell you where the clip is. If I get a chance I'll record the clip and send it to you as a sound file. I forget the specific song and even when it happened in the show (though I think it was after the half-hour point).

Glad to see BK is having some GOOD problems for a change.

DR Jose, are we still seeing Nathan Gunn? If so, when?
Yes! Although, I believe I gave you the wrong day of the week the last time we talked. It's next Tuesday night, April 15 (Tax Day!), Zankel Hall, 8:00pm.
-
The shipping is difficult to decide. I can get a much better deal on these cardboard boxes (around .55 each if I buy 1000) - they hold 1-6 CDs. But, what I'm not sure of is if they'll add sufficient weight that it will up the actual postal costs. I know exactly what it costs when I use those envelopes. But the envelopes are not cheap either - and I always worry for the safety of the jewel cases, although I haven't had many complaints of cracked cases. But basically it costs me about 7.50 per 12 envelopes so it's a lot more money that way - you'd think it would be the other way around.
-
DR elmore - Tom Murray was at the auditions this morning. He says, "HI!" -And he was wondering when and if you were going to see Sunday in the Park with George (and the reduced orchestra). ;)
-
Printing, printing, printing - that is three printings.
-
bk - It's a hassle, but perhaps if you go to the post office with sample packages they can weigh them and tell you the postage costs. I've been on line at the post office and seen people [ebayers?] do this.

No, absolutely not. In fact, you can watch the reduced orchestra for free every week on NBC's Biggest Loser.
That is how they've been reduced, right, by dieting?
;)

OH! Speaking of Sunday in the Park with George... I'm actually seeing the show again tonight. When I went to pick up my ticket earlier today at the box office, I found out that they discount codes now apply for (almost) any available seat at Studio 54, and not just the ones off to the side and higher-up as usual. They just changed over this week after they announced the next two-week extension.
-
True dat!
Actually, I knew nothing about this DialIdol thing. Very interesting. They say it has accurately predicted the winner every time.
I've never even considered voting. Has anybody here actually dropped a dime on this show?
You bet I have. No one was a more faithful repeat caller for Clay Aiken, Elliot Yamin, and Melinda Dolittle than I was. Didn't help them win, but each got close.
I have voted for no one this year. I never felt passionately about anyone since the Hollywood round.
-
Lunch started very late today, so my viewing time this afternoon was limited. It was such a beautiful day outside that I didn't mind waiting on the porch for my ride and just drink in the fresh air and sunshine.

And speaking of Mr. Aiken... He just got "hand-printed" at the Planet Hollywood in Times Square yesterday. I saw some of the footage on the news. Alas, it looks like he's changed stylists again - or reverted back to his old one...

When I got in, I noticed that I had gotten the DVR to catch a Starz! showing of CUJO, so I watched that this afternoon.
I haven't seen the film since it came out in the theater and I reviewed it. Never read the book, but it certainly seemed faithful to a story King would have written during that era. Daniel-Hugh Kelly was some kind of beautiful as the cuckold husband. What a gorgeous body he had!

I got a box from Amazon today, and I was SO hoping that it was the Musicals box. Alas, it was the Fox/Bette Davis set; good but I'd rather have had the other one. I just watched THE VIRGIN QUEEN on the Fox Movie Channel a few months ago, so I'm not ready for another viewing of it yet. Not in the mood for ALL ABOUT EVE or SWEET CHARLOTTE, so I guess I'll go Blu-ray/HD-DVD tonight. Don't know what yet.

That may be the way Classmates does it, but there are several other companies (i.e. Reunion.com) that won't let you see who wrote to you or what they said, unless you cough up the dough.

Reunion.com has been the least worthwhile endeavor to which I ever subscribed.

I gotta tell you.

Heading down now to clean the den, and then I'll get back to viewing. I may just rewatch ENCHANTED on Blu-ray. The other two times I was taking notes. This would be just for fun and enjoyment.

I gotta tell you.
Yes you do....that is if you read my BK question for today.

Say the question again, MBarnum. I shall now be on my way to the Heim of Ana. There's yet another accident on my usual route, so it's another slog through downtown.

DR Ben - I'll be curious to hear how Daniel Reichard does as Candide.
I'd love to see this...that Daniel is such a cutie! ;)

Well, back on November 20, 2007, there were these posts:

Okay i just went to get them. This is what it says:
Longkou Vermicelli. Yes it has strings around it tying it up. It is in a plastic bag.
The ingredients do not seem right. It says: green beans, broad beans, peas, water.
Keep dry.
But there is no indication of how to cook it (which i find very odd). I was thinking you cook them like noodles. But for less time. but maybe not.
A lot of Asian/Oriental foodstuffs have no cooking directions on them. You're just supposed to know. In any case...
Just give them a good rinse and brief soak until they are pliable before you proceed with your dish.
Quote from: Jennifer on November 20, 2007, 11:07:08 PM
Thanks. So you think they are rice vermicelli? as opposed to noodle vermicelli?
So basically i could soak them and then put them in a wok with other ingredients?
You have "bean threads". They will cook up "clear" rather than "white" like rice sticks do.
And, yes, after the rinse and soak, you just add them to the wok with the other ingredients.
-
DR Jose, lovely photos. Thank you. Our spring flowers are just now popping up.

I'm having some delicious pizza with mushrooms and fresh garlic with a caesar salad for dinner, all quite yummilicious. It's been a good day here at ole 202 West 82. I vacuumed and cleaned the place this morning, then I printed out 5 Ellington scores for this Gay Men's Chorus job. I spent the last 3 hours writing critical notes on The Lady Of The Slipper, mostly on the song "Bagdad," and its references to 1912 events: Otis Skinner in Kismet and The Lenox Avenue gang led by Gyp the Blood and Lefty Louie, who were executed in 1914 for the 1912 shooting of Herman "Beansie" Rosenthal poutside the Metropole Hotel.
I will chill out, watch some tv, catch the latst TOP CHEF and read more about Miss Austen.

What a lovely lot of flowers.
Hoo-boy, a Leslie Bricusse reference!
-
There are probably a million non-related Caesar's around the country peddling pizza.
;D And most are probably better than the chain.

MEDIUM SPOILER!!!
From Matt H:
MEDIUM had another fascinating episode.
I have to admit that once we got to the final murder with Patricia Arquette in a naval uniform and the victim saying he had never done this before, I guessed the killer was going to be a gay man.
MORE MEDIUM SPOILER!!!
I began to suspect it was a man once I saw the novels, at which point I knew it wasn't her. I did appreciate the fact she was narrating the dreams, very clever.
I waited to mention my suspicion to Keith until half a minute before Scanlon walked into the elevator. How's that for timing! ;D

DRs Jose and JAne, i had just done an advanced search at the bottom of HHW. and it came up with nothing.
DR Jose, what search did you do to get those posts?
-
DR Jennifer, click on the little face at the bottom of my, or any member's post and then click to read their post. You have options for the number of posts you want to read.
It reads " Show the last (number) posts of this person. "
Did it work?

You can also click on a person's name at the top of their description to the left of each post to take you to their profile, as well. :)

How many words did you search at one time? I've found that if I only search one word at a time, I'll get better (if certainly more) results than if I try to search a phrase.

Well, I'm leaving work. Until later. :)

Time for dinner. I'm going to see The Reckoning: Remembering the Dutch Resistance tonight http://www.orpheumlive.com/events/showEvent.php?p=1&ID=325
It's Tolerance Week here. This time the focus is on the Dutch who hid their Jewish friends and neighbors during WWII. A lot of us living in this part of the state have some Dutch heritage so it's going to be interesting on many levels. There will also be Dutch survivors who participated in the resistance here to speak after the film. I'm looking forward to it
I must read more carefully. I thought you wrote that the focus was on the Dutch who hid from their Jewish friends and neighbors.
-
Well, Fred, I am going to leave you alone.
Good night.
-
Good night, TCB.
-
I did decide to rewatch ENCHANTED on Blu-ray tonight. Such a lovely, loving film. I watched "That's How You Know" twice before moving on with the film.
-
After it was over, I rewatched the first 90 minutes of DREAMGIRLS (also in Blu-ray; it was one of the last Paramount Blu-rays before they went HD-DVD exclusively).
-
I had a few minutes before 10, so I put in the laserdisc of DEEP IN MY HEART. Since I'm expecting the Warners musical box DVDs tomorrow, I wanted to watch a bit of this so I could better compare the quality of the video and audio transfers since I hadn't watched it in awhile.
I'm not reviewing it; just for my own information.
-
And I ended the evening with CSI: NY. A fire in Stell'a apartment building led to some pretty surprising discoveries. OK episode.

:)

Is there an echo in here? ;)
DR DakotaCelt - I have never heard of "snow mold"! :o
Hope the drug store opens soon and that you soon feel better!
Yes, I am feeling better
Snow mold is the white crusty stuff that is sometimes on the ground after the snow melts..
-
Off to bed now so I can get up early and take my car in for its annual state inspection.
Good night!
-
And just for DR Ron Pulliam... Although, upon closer inspection, I'm not sure they're really azaleas... Possibly a rhododendron of some sort?... In any case...

Pretty flowers Jose!

Der Brucer, I meant to post this the other day when we were talking about the GD bugs. This is what they really look like - and no they aren't ladybugs. They are vile stinky biting menaces
You got that right....
-
Cute picture of joshie!

Good Evening!
I'm back from seeing Sunday in the Park with George again. And, yes, I cried again. But it was a good cry... again. ;)
-
One thing I noticed this time was that they cut the second "Ugly American" scene - the one where they ask for directions off the island. Of course, now I'm trying to remember if that was cut when I saw it during previews. In any case, the show is in very good shape, and both Daniel Evans and Jenna Russell seemed to be creating their parts anew. Very fresh, very moving. The pacing also seemed to be a bit faster, and some of the song tempos also seemed a bit more settled too. All in all, very enjoyable evening. Again. ;)
-
DRs Jane and Jennifer - I searched as follows:
-I hit the "Search" button at the bottom of the (this) page.
-I hit "Advanced Search".
-I searched for "vermicelli".
-I indicated that I only wanted to search for posts by JoseSPiano (me).
-I set the oldest post at 500 days.
-Then hit "Search".
-
Awwww, Joshie. :)
-
Yum! Where is it from and did you have it delivered?
LOL, DR Jane, I had to laugh out loud because when I first read your post I thought you were referring to this picture that DR Elmore posted just prior to your post...
....I was shocked! LOL!
But then I realized you were responding to the post about pizza.

IDOL SPOILER!!!
Boring.
-
Back from a good rehearsal.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Bunch of gosh darn sleepyheads is what I'm guessing.
-
I just popped The Brain from Planet X in my CD player and am beginning my first-ever perusal of it.
Am I supposed to review it here honestly? How could one give anything but a rave on this particular forum? ;)
