Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both mellow and yellow and now it is time for you to post until the mellow and yellow cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SCRANNEL!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
People come, people go, like Grand Hotel.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR ArnoldMBrockman!! ;D
-
Speaking of graphic novels, I got this in the mail today. Looks very interesting!
-
Happy Birthday. DR Arnold M. Brockman!!!
-
Good evening, George! Or should I say, Good Morning?
-
It's hard to type with a cat on my wrist.
-
I think I will take said cat and go back to bed,
-
Good evening, George! Or should I say, Good Morning?
Good evening...to me.

I think I will take said cat and go back to bed,
Good night to you!

SONG OF THE DAY: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ARNOLD BROCKMAN
-
ASK BK
Sisney Pollack died the other day. Do you have a favorite film that he directed?
-
And the word of the day is: SCRANELL!
Sorry, no SCRANELL in the dictionary.
I did find SCRANNEL, as in:
Gisele, the pencil-thin supermodel, strode down the walkway wearing little more than SCRANNEL No. 5.
-
I've got to get to work. All sorts of lovely paperwork to do.
Hasta.
-
Sorry, no SCRANELL in the dictionary.
I couldn't find it, either. :P
-
My question for ASK BK day:
When you begin a murder mystery, do you pretty much know who the culprit will be? Does this ever change in the course of the writing?

Good morning, all! DRsingdaw, thank you for the vibes! Please, folks, keep 'em coming. I dreamed about a crash last night, so I'm more than usually antsy.
This morning, I will try to do some more Brain surgery between errands with Jo and packing up. I plan to leave here around 1:30 pm and drive up to the Dayton airport.
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to DR Arnold M Brockman !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not used to Jo's computer. I'll be very happy to get back and hug my iMac.
-
Happy Birthday to our own Song Man Mr. Brockman
-
Happy Birthday and many happy returns to DR ARNOLDBROCKMAN!!

Combining a few posts from yesterday:
The Screaming Mimi - Harmless to Humans and Pets.
I also like the book cover tag: He knew seeing her again might get him killed - but he HAD to have her!

Crazy day today, and tomorrow Miss Molly will be in!

Happy, Happy Birthday, Mr. Arnold M. Brockman!!!!!

Continued Vibes and a hug for Elmore!

Singdaw, singdaw, singdaw....
You never fail to put a smile on my face! :)

Happy Birthday Arnold Brockman and I hope you have a lovely day filled with freinds, family and surprises!

JR you look so official..... Nice pic!

It's hard to type with a cat on my wrist.
I am glad I reread your comment. I thought you said cast...

Earle H. Hagen, who both composed and whistled the theme song for television's Andy Griffith show, has passed on.

Awwwww....
He wrote the first book I ever bought about music scoring for films. It came with a couple of 45's in a sleeve in the back. I've still got the book, but wish I still had the 45's.
-
SWEENEY TODD (the Doyle version) opened in Atlanta last night. And Edmund Bagnell is sure "working the room"! I saw him on our local morning show and in a few minutes he'll be on my favorite radio station AM1690, The Voice of the Arts.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday morning greetings! This being my first workday of the week, it sure seems like Monday.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Arnold M. Brockman - your song of the day is "Happy Birthday to You!"
-
Travel vibes to DR Elmore - are you sure you can't stay until Friday to go see Sex and the City with me?
-
(And the song of the day should probably be the theme from ARNIE. I never miss a Herschel Bernardi TV series.)
Happy birthday to Arnold Brockman!!!
-
Good morning!
It's overcast today and we're expecting rain, but it hasn't arrived yet. Cooler than the last morning or two, but nothing like the deliciously cool mornings last week. I think I'll have to turn on the A/C by Saturday. Boo!

I think someone should do a remake of Dr. Syn, telling the whole story, instead of the whitewashed Disney version.
I visited Dr. Syn's church in Dymchurch the first time I went to England. They buried him outside the cemetary so he would be near the church but not on "hallowed ground".
It's a beautiful area on the coast of England, near New Romney, where the beginning of the book "Kipps" (adapted and musicalized into HALF A SIXPENCE) took place. A editor I've been friends with for 30 years, ever since we worked together in London, just moved to that area (Kent) so I am tempted to take a nice relaxing trip there after CLOSER season, which now looks like it will end sooner than we all anticipated.
-
DR MBarnum,
If you decide to select some ODD COUPLE discs from NetFlix, don't get anything from Season One. They did it as a one camera show without an audience that year, and the episodes are fairly lame. Seasons 2-5 were done before a live audience, and that feeling of immediacy is paramount for this show.
Seasons 2-4 (now or soon to be available on DVD) are the ones to get.
-
(And the song of the day should probably be the theme from ARNIE. I never miss a Herschel Bernardi TV series.)
I remember that show...don't remember the theme, though.
-
I have to say watching DR. SYN on TV all those years ago used to scare me silly with that hideous cackle the Scarecrow used.
I am looking forward to finally getting the show (the Disney tin will have the three TV installments as well as the movie feature culled from combing those three episodes.)
-
Once again, nothing on TV for me tonight, so I'll finish up THE ODD COUPLE set )hopefully) this afternoon and then move on to 7TH HEAVEN.
I'll also slip in an NCIS episode or two from the Season 1 set.
-
Yes, I read the news about Earle Hagen this morning and was sad to see it. One by one, all the cast and crew of the wonderful ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW are leaving us.
-
Safe and secure travel wishes for DR Elmore. Get back home soon!
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I believe the knot in my lower back is finally loosening up...

That's interesting... I'm going this afternoon to see a chiropractor for my first time ever! :P

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR ARNOLD M BROCKMAN!!!!!

Singdaw, singdaw, singdaw....
You never fail to put a smile on my face! :)
And, thus, he continues to fulfill his main purpose in life.

Go with the moment, DR slickscrawl! It feels SO good.

Hello, everyone!
I only have a minute, as some real estate agents are coming by shortly. But first...
-
Travel vibes to DR Elmore - are you sure you can't stay until Friday to go see Sex and the City with me?
I'd like to. I hear that all weekend showings in Manhattan are sold out!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our very own ARNOLD BROCKMAN!!
May you have a lovely day!
-
I'd like to. I hear that all weekend showings in Manhattan are sold out!
Although, there are a few theatres that will be showing it around the clock this weekend, so if you want to catch the 2:30am showing down in Chelsea... ;)
-
TRAVEL VIBES to LARRY!
-
GINNY,
I've been meaning to ask you if you know about ARCOPEDICO shoes and sandals. They are designed specifically for people with food problems, I believe.
^
THAT was the original version. I was about to correct my typo, but, given that this is HHW, I just COULDN'T. Of course, I MEANT to type "They are designed for people with FOOT problems..."

DR Jose, it's playing at 10:00 am on Friday at 84th Street so I just bought a ticket. I guess the sold out rumor was crap.
Have you seen that Pizza Mia commercial for Pizza Hut?
-
"Collective"?, Jose?
-
Thanks for all of the vibes, DRs! I'm going to log off and tote my luggage to the car. Randy's taking off from work to come and say goodbye. I love him and Jo and their kids, and I appreciate the care and love they provide. In that respect, it's been a really good week.
See you in Manhattan!
-
How about cool, calm, and connected?
-
I shan't be connected much longer, as I have meetings to attend.

Oohh.. Maybe I'll buy a ticket too!
As for the Pizza Mia commercial... I don't think I've seen it yet. However, I keep wondering if the lead "singer" on the newest "Triple Play" commercial is Janine LaManna.
-
Oh... I guess I meant, "Collected".

Travel vibes to DR ELMORE. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Good Afternoon!
Well, I need to head out for a bit and run some errands.
Laters...
-
DR SINGDAW....that was pretty funny.
Thanks DR DAKOTACELT for the compliment, they are always welcome.
LOL DR EDISAURUS.....I will be saying that tomorrow since she gets in at 5:03 a.m.
-
On tv tonight for me:
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (more auditions). Not my favorite part of the show although i do love to see when they get to vegas.
MEN IN TREES.
LIFE (i wonder how many more episodes there are here).
My tv also shows that JANICE DICKINSON modelling show (which i had always wanted to see). So i will record that (assuming it is on). It is listed in our E! (in my tv) but not in the paper.
-
There are so many of the Wonderful World of Disney two and three part series that I would like to see again.
Number One - The Legend of Young Dick Turpin
The Gallagher series with Roger Mobley as a young newspaper reporter at the turn of the 20th Century.
-
DR JENNIFER did the football player from Ohio audition again?
-
Oh I guess Roger is a United Methodist Minister in Texas now.....I also liked him in Emil and the Detectives.
-
Oh....UPS just brought me the CD recording of the Revival of SOUTH PACIFIC. I forgot I preordered it.
-
DR JENNIFER did the football player from Ohio audition again?
I don't know, which one is he?
They don't show all of the auditions. And we only saw the first episode of auditions so far.
-
Awwwww....
He wrote the first book I ever bought about music scoring for films. It came with a couple of 45's in a sleeve in the back. I've still got the book, but wish I still had the 45's.
What happened to the 45s?

I think they would mention him when he shows up onscreen....I forget his name. :P
-
No more bed bugs.
Vibes for DR Jason. !!!!!!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
DR Tomovoz i have seen that DRACULA musical dvd here in montreal. I almost got it at costco. But the next time i went they were all gone!
-
I have Earle Hagen's orchestration book, which I got back in college in a Jazz Theory class. It's got a garish green cover, with a plastic roll clip binding. I think maybe Hagen published it himself.
-
which one is he?
-
And Happy Birthday, Arnold M. Brockman.
-
DR Jrand i watch a lot of reality shows.
There have been a few contestants this year who have almost made it before (who tried out again). I will look for the football guy.
-
Thanks DR JENNIFER.....but it can be a low priority.
Wow, DR SINGDAW....I want one of those in my newly designed back yard!
-

ASK BK
Sisney Pollack died the other day. Do you have a favorite film that he directed?
He made many fine films - I do love Tootsie and Three Days Of The Condor - those are probably my favorites.
-
And the word of the day is: SCRANNEL!
Might that be SCRANNEL?
-
My question for ASK BK day:
When you begin a murder mystery, do you pretty much know who the culprit will be? Does this ever change in the course of the writing?
I do these very unconventionally, I'm told. The truth is, on a couple of them I've had an idea but wasn't sure. On the others, I made a conscious decision not to know - in the new one, there were many it could have been, and I sort of went on the journey with the lead character, which was fun.
-

Beyond question, my favorite Pollack film is one of my very favorites: "Out of Africa".
-
And The Song Of The Day Is: SING
(From A CHORUS LINE)
And I believe the Word Of The Day is spelled incorrectly One L and Two N's---SCRANNEL)
I don't know what any of you people are talking about. :)
-
Well, the cat's out of the bag. The secret I was told a couple of weeks ago was made public today - the assistant manager of our department is leaving at the end of June to be director of a small nearby library system. Between the manager and assistant manager positions, this will be the 9th turnover and 8th new person (last year the assistant became the manager) in the almost 11 years I've been here. I thought I'd broken in my last manager before retiring.
-
I guess I am the only person in the world who doesn't like the movie TOOTSIE. But then I may be the only person in the world who doesn't like Dustin Hoffman's performances.
-
My first question for ASK BK day....in years past, television and movie stars would now and then record a record album.
Did you buy any of them? Which were your favorites....the good AND the bad.....
-
DR JRand, my interview with Roger Mobley will soon be in a film magazine near you....I hope.
I don't believe he is a minister any longer. I think he took another job, although I have not heard back from him of late.
He was excellent in an episode of DRAGNET as a hippie wanna be.
-
My first question for ASK BK day....in years past, television and movie stars would now and then record a record album.

James Shigeta and Jeff Chandler...I enjoyed both very much!
And of course the Warner Bros performers all had some nifty albums.
-

Certainly I had one of Patty Duke's albums - not great then, not great now.
I had anything Hayley Mills recorded.
I think I bought George Chakiris's albums.
Those are the ones I remember.
-
Beth Malone will be coming over shortly.
-
Oh, and I'm up.

Great! Details appreciate when and if......... ;D
-
I think I still have my copy of the LP Richard Chamberlain Sings.
-
MR BK - how could you miss Dwayne Hickman's LP, and Elke Sommers' love album.....and Dick Kallman's HANK SINGS!
I loved tv stars record albums......
-
When I was a young lad, the ads for Bob Hope and Elke Sommer in BOY DID I GET A WRONG NUMBER looked very spicy indeed
-
Not as spicy as ITALIANNETTE, but a different kind of spicy

True dat on both counts DR FJL.

This morning, on my way to work, and on DearReaderLaura DR's recommendation, WING entertained me with her renditions of some of ABBA's greatest hits.
I nearly drove off the road! :)
-
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR BIRTHDAY GREETINGS
THE PEOPLE AT HHW ALWAYS MAKE MY DAY BRIGHTER !!
-
DR GEORGE thanks for the trip to Camelot which arrived yesterday!
-
DR MBARNUM you are correct, I love all of the WB stars albums!
-
Doesn't anyone here own Chad Everett's album on MGM Records? :)
-
Or "Bobby Rydell sings songs from 'Bye, Bye Birdie'"?
-
I don't pay too much attention to TV ads, but I do love those Cheetos and Dunkin' Donuts spots!
-
DR JRand57, did you plant any moonflowers? I planted the ones my mother gave me last weekend.
-

More sophisticated palates prefer MERLOT.
der Brucer
-
My ask bk question: Did you get Grant Geissman's snail mail address?
-
And The Song Of The Day Is: SING
(From A CHORUS LINE)
That's so weird! On my way to work today, I was listening to a cassette tape of songs that I had put together for the preshow and intermission music for a local production of Angry Housewives from about 11 years ago. When I turned on the tape, it was in the middle of "Good Morning Starshine" and the last lyrics are:
"Song, song, song, sing,
Sing, sing, sing song."
And the very next song that I put on the tape was "Sing" (as in "Sing, sing a song, make it simple to last your whole life long....") sung by the Carpenters. :)
-
I have logged on several times to day in order to wish DR ArnoldBrockman a happy birthday...and each time I forgot to do so....so now......
Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hee, hee.
-
DR GEORGE thanks for the trip to Camelot which arrived yesterday!
Yea! Hope you enjoy it. ;)
-
My ask bk question: Did you get Grant Geissman's snail mail address?
Yes, I just need the fershluganah zip code now - I'll be seeing him in a few hours.
-
I guess I am the only person in the world who doesn't like the movie TOOTSIE. But then I may be the only person in the world who doesn't like Dustin Hoffman's performances.
Nope. I am lukewarm on TOOTSIE. Parts I think are wonderful; parts I think are tiresome. Hoffman has been since LENNY a chore for me to watch, and I find him much overrated especially as he's gotten older.
-
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR BIRTHDAY GREETINGS
THE PEOPLE AT HHW ALWAYS MAKE MY DAY BRIGHTER !!
And you make ours brighter.
-
Worked with Beth - what a doll she is. And she's so right for this, and it's so sweet of her to actually learn her songs, too.
-
Gonna go grab a bite to eat now. I'm thinking of actually going to a restaurant with my Nudie script, just to make notes and to try and finish the new opening. I've run the new opening by a few people and they all think it sounds just right.
-
I finished all of THE ODD COUPLE episodes in the season 4 set today. Included in some of these final episodes are special guest appearances by Marilyn Horne and Hugh Hefner (separate episodes, obviously).
-
Great to see William Redfield playing Felix's brother Floyd. Floyd owns a bubble gum factory that makes Unger Gum. So hilarious when Felix goes to work for him invented broccoli gum and opera trading cards inside bubble gum packets.
-
And there's that great episode when Felix and Oscar join citizen's watch and start patroliling the hall of their apartment building.
-
So sad that there is only one more season of episodes to come.
-
I had time to watch another NCIS episode from season 1. The death of a marine paratrooper when his chutes didn't open. Nice surprise ending as to the guilty party.
-
I ended the afternoon skimming through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No gay fellas, but they were in the previews for tomorrow.
-
Saw this on the NY Times site about A AFTRA coming to an agreement with the studios, etc

Love ABBA Laura!
-
I would love to see MAMMA MIA sometime or get the recording of hte show
-
Oh, but the ABBA that Singdaw listened to today is very different. VERY.
-
The movie version of MAMMA MIA comes out this summer with Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth.
-
Heading down now to clean the den (didn't get to it earlier when I wanted to), and then will watch another NCIS episode before starting on 7TH HEAVEN.

Many of those Odd Couple episodes were written by our very own Mr. Mark Rothman.
-
Back from lunch at Art's - I did some more work on the new opening, then made some cuts and a few line changes. I also have to rethink the comic bits that involve the camera crane in Dancing Dildos, since we won't ever be having one on the stage - I have an idea how to do it, though, that would probably cause just as much pandemonium.

Good Evening!
Over the past few hours, I did this...
Since I had been planning on seeing "Sex & The City" sometime this coming weekend, and since DR elmore had mentioned that he had purchased a ticket for the 10:00am showing this Friday, I went ahead and headed down to the 84th Street Lowe's and purchased a ticket for myself too! See you there, DR elmore! -And maybe we can have some Cosmos afterwards. ;)
*I was very surprised to see that this theatre still had "Matinee Pricing". At first I had thought I had hit the "Children's Ticket" button, but after double-checking, it turned out my ticket was indeed only $6.00! -Rather than $11.00. :)
-
I've seen my share of fidgets.
Not a pretty sight.
I bet you've had your share of fidgets too.
Still not a pretty sight.
-
...And then I did that...
I had to take care of some banking, and did so after purchasing my movie ticket. Then since it was lunch-time, I headed over to Chirping Chicken for a Grilled Chicken Greek Salad. Very filling, and very YUM!
*And, next time, if the same group of UPS drivers double-park their trucks on Amsterdam while eating their lunch, well... I may have to make a phone call or two. -Not that that would do anything, but one never knows, do one?
-
bk - You have mail! -Well, e-mail... Oh, it seems that you got it already. :)
-
I think they would mention him when he shows up onscreen....I forget his name. :P
DR Jrand - I haven't seen the football player yet. Last week's auditions were held in Los Angeles. They hit the midwest and south this week, so maybe he'll show up tonight or tomorrow - if he showed up in the first place.
-
After lunch, I headed back into Central Park for a post-lunch Nature Break, as well as to almost-complete today's NY Times' Crossword Puzzle. -Who knew that a metric volume measurement was a "STERE"?!?!?
-
For those who were following along with my post about a certain record producer who's been posting under an alias on a theater chat board, tub-thumping his own albums while tearing down other people's cast albums, like Xanadu, and leaving rather nasty posts about yours truly - all nasty postings about me have been removed from the board. And they're now on to him, and aren't so thrilled that he's been knocking other people's work, as that's a little self-serving and wrong.
-
(http://rantingdetails.typepad.com/my_weblog/images/2008/05/25/n36407889_32182307_7391.jpg)
No phone number, thank you.
-
The movie version of MAMMA MIA comes out this summer with Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth.
;D - looking forward to that one, too!
-
...And speaking of Xanadu...
After solving all but nine(!) clues in today's crossword, I headed on down to Times Square to the Helen Hayes Theatre - where Xanadu is currently playing - to hear Cubby Bernstein (http://cubbybernstein.com/) give his Tony Prediction Speech. :)
They were also selling "Cub-Cakes" as well as some Cubby Bernstein memorabilia - with the proceeds going to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (http://www.bcefa.org/). Needless to say, I had to support the cause, and enjoyed a chocolate cupcake in the process. :)
*I also stopped into Virgin to pick up the new OCR of South Pacific, and while I was there I realized that they were playing selections from Kerry Butler's new CD. -And they were interviewing her in-store too. There was supposed to be some sort of CD-signing, but the store didn't have their usual CD-signing set-up set up. However, I did run into Ms. Butler as well as the Birthday Boy's son, Craig, back at the theatre afterwards.
-
Really??
Yes, very.

What a hottie! Oh and Tyson is handsome too.

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO [/move]
DR ARNOLD M. BROCKMAN!

-
Singdaw, singdaw, singdaw....
You never fail to put a smile on my face! :)
That's what HE said.
-
...
...
Well, DR Jose, it's a tough job, but someone has to do it!
-
I don't know, which one is he?
They don't show all of the auditions. And we only saw the first episode of auditions so far.
He would be the one in the football jersey with the shoulder pads!

There's a nice article/profile of actor, Daniel Evans, who's currently starring the revival of Sunday in the Park With George in today's Times. And it's accompanied by a sooooo cute picture of Mr. Evans too. :)

-And, yes, I do read the New York Times for the articles.
-
Shouldn't DR elmore be back in the NYC-area by this time?
-
Well, DR Jose, it's a tough job, but someone has to do it!
And I believe I did it well too. Very well.
-
He made many fine films - I do love Tootsie and Three Days Of The Condor - those are probably my favorites.
I would have to say THE WAY WE WERE.
-
Might that be SCRANNEL?
HUH?
-
Nope. I am lukewarm on TOOTSIE. Parts I think are wonderful; parts I think are tiresome. Hoffman has been since LENNY a chore for me to watch, and I find him much overrated especially as he's gotten older.
My least favorite Hoffman performance is his DEATH OF A SALESMAN. Now granted, I only saw it on TV and not on Broadway, but it was so contrived. You could see the wheels in his brain saying left hand slow tremor, shuffle feet left, right, left. I could not find one true emotion anywhere in his Willy Loman.
-
A very Happy Birthday to DR Craig's Dad.

ASK BK DAY
Do you ever get recognized on the street or in stores or when you attend performances? If so, is there one role or one series that they remember you from more than any other?
-
Sorry DR Ron - Don't have that Rydell album. I've not seen it out here.
-
DR Jennifer - I will no doubt be quite a while before I watch "Dracula". I shall try and remember to let you know if you missed anything worthwhile.
-
Good Evening!
-And maybe we can have some Cosmos afterwards. ;)
Is that a euphemism?

-
DR Jeanne - What a cast in that UK series. I'll watch our for it. It has not aired on TV here as yet.
DP Colin and I have at last started to watch series 2 of "Life On Mars". The "sequel" "Ashes To Ashes", has been received well in the UK.

ASK BK DAY

It does happen from time to time - usually from TV stuff.
-
Tomorrow's outing for the pensioners here is "Indiana Jones". Saturday we shall be seeing a production of "Seussical".
Of course DP Colin has an outing today - to see his GP. We are both battling colds. As usual Colin's cold has gone to his chest. I'm hoping he does not have a secondary infection.
The old saying about treating a cold virus - (you can't) Two weeks with antibiotics - a fortnight without.
Antibiotics are prescribed as a last resort by our GPs these days.
And yes DR MR Birkeland - our prayers are with you. I'm pleased to read you have been well enough to chases buses.
-
-And, yes, I do read the New York Times for the articles.
Yeah, that's why I read PLAYGIRL.
-
DR Jose will no doubt be impressed that I have been listening to more of this century's pop music:
Lily Allen
Duffy
Adele
Amy MacDonald
Snow Patrol
McFly
Mika
Embrace.
Now if American pop could just get its act together and get out of the Idol and rap rut!
-
It does happen from time to time - usually from TV stuff.
I would wager PARTRIDGE FAMILY.
-
I've also found some time to revist the wonderful music of:
The Eagles
America
Poco
Bob Seger
-
I have dibs on Colin and Pierce!!!
Looking forward to Mama Mia!
-
And the soundtrack (http://www.amazon.com/Mamma-Mia-Original-Soundtrack/dp/B0019FOC5E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1212012527&sr=1-3) will be released July 8th! :D
Cool.... I will have to get that...
-
I would wager PARTRIDGE FAMILY.
I'll wager the Lords a Leaping and the Drummers drumming against the Partridge, The French Hens and the Maids a milking.
-
I've also found some time to revist the wonderful music of:
The Eagles
America
Poco
Bob Seger
Those are good groups.... I also enjoy the Eagles and Bob Seger. I tend to also enjoy a lot of the music from the late 70s to the the late 80s when it refers to pop music.
I have also learned to enjoy other forms of music also... :)
-
I doubt I ever watched the Partridge Family or The
Brady Bunch. I gave up after My Three Sons.
-
Yes, very.

I should see if I can find the links again but I came across some where a guy placed all the shows openings from the 1970s and 80s into montages... RAther interesting. There are some shows I do not even remember.

Thank you Mr. Oz. I've been chasing them, but I have yet to catch one.
And to all of you, I do humbly apologize for not thanking you all individually for your wonderful vibes and good wishes over the last several days. It is not that I don't appreciate them (or you), it's just that I feel like I am in one long constant health crisis lately. This year, instead of Christmas cards, I am going to send out prayer cards.
-
I doubt I ever watched the Partridge Family or The
Brady Bunch. I gave up after My Three Sons.
BK also was in an episode of MASH. I bought a VHS tape with that one episode. I wonder if I could make a DVD of it. ;)
-
Haven't heard from Mr. Geissman, so don't know if we're on or not for this evening.
-
A Question for BK: Do you have many (any?) of your guest TV episodes on either VHS or DVD?
-

Here's a new Brain review - I'm must say it's nice to have gotten ALL positive reviews for this production!
The Brain From Planet X
by Joyce Rosenthal, Fullerton Observer
May 19, 2008
The year is 1958; the location the San Fernando Valley. A wild-eyed, hyperactive Narrator appears to warn us of the strange and terrible things we are about to see.
However, next we are in the backyard of Fred and Joyce, an idyllic American couple. Fred, an engineer and inventor, is home from work. Joyce, the perfect housewife, will grill steaks for dinner after bringing Fred a beer. Perky daughter Donna is off to the library to catch up on homework. Life couldn’t be better.
But wait—-what’s that awful sound? Are those objects in the sky flying saucers? This was what the Narrator meant! It’s an invasion by the Brain from Planet X who comes to conquer Earth with help from his two assistants, Zubrick (male) and Yoni (female). People on Planet X are all intellect with no emotion. They view humans as all emotion with no intellect. The Brain plans on zapping humans with his “will bender” which will make them do his bidding. Life on Earth may never be the same!
The Brain from Planet X, a spoof of bad 50’s science fiction movies, is cheesy but clever, hokey but hilarious and is a thoroughly delightful musical. David Wechter and Bruce Kimmel wrote the book and Kimmel also wrote the music and lyrics and directed the show; this is only the third time this play has been performed and we are fortunate indeed that it came to Chance Theater.
As the play proceeds, more and more humans are zapped causing them to walk around with vacant smiles on their faces. The military is called in with one-star General Mills in charge, ably assisted by Private Parts. Yoni becomes more and more emotional and exhibits an interest in human males. Zubrick resists longer than her but eventually he too succumbs to emotion—and exhibits an interest in human males.
Daughter Donna and boyfriend Rod (she did not go to the library to do homework) and Professor Leder, her grandfather, join forces with the military and ultimately everyone comes together in Fred’s backyard. ...
The costumes (by deb Millison) are perfect for a 1950’s B science fiction movie. Lighting Design by KC Wilkerson and Sound Design by Dave Mickey and Mitchell Kohen are great. The cast is uniformly talented and delivers a dynamite show. Especially outstanding are Michael Irish (Narrator, Professor Leder), Bob Simpson (Fred), Allison Appleby (Joyce), and Emily Clark (Yoni). Don’t miss it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARNOLD M BROCKMAN!!!!!

A Question for BK: Do you have many (any?) of your guest TV episodes on either VHS or DVD?
I have the box set DVDs released thus far on The Partridge Family, The Doris Day Show, Tabitha, Laverne and Shirley, and Happy Days, and MASH - so I have all those. I think I have all my Donny and Marie appearances on tape. I have some others on tape, too, some 3/4 inch, some Beta, etc.
There are certain things that I'd love to have, like The Young Lawyers, Doctor's Hospital, Ghost Story, Beggarman Thief (only to see my scene with Jean Simmons - I've never seen the film at all), my Angie episode (my 3/4 inch is not viewable and wouldn't transfer). And I'd love to have a copy of the George Kennedy pilot I did, wherein I played his son.

I have seen BK in MASH and an episode of Happy Days (when he was the gambler), but I think those the only tv shows I have seen.
-
The first time I saw a photo of BK I remembered him in Tabitha and Partridge Family and that I had seen him as a guest on other things. I watched a lot of TV when I was a kid.
-
I'm watching SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. I don't really know why, lol.

*I was very surprised to see that this theatre still had "Matinee Pricing". At first I had thought I had hit the "Children's Ticket" button, but after double-checking, it turned out my ticket was indeed only $6.00! -Rather than $11.00. :)
Fantastic, DR Jose! I feel as if I haven't seen you in ages, so I look forward to it.
Yes, I am back in Manhattan. The trip was quite easy and on time. Thanks for all the vibes!

I worked for Dustin on MERCHANT OF VENICE as a researcher, and he gave me a lovely gift. I like him personally very much.
In 1983 or 1984, I was filling in for the manager of the Minskoff rehearsal studios over Christmas vacation; Dustin and co. were rehearsing DEATH OF A SALESMAN there. Everyone was friendly except for John Malkovich. I was working on the Book-of-the-Month "Songs of New York" recording so every morning when Dustin came in, he saw me working on a full score of something or other. After two days, when he came in, he would say "Good morning, Mr Mozart (or Mr Schubert or Mr Strauss)," and I started yelling back to him "call me Wolfgang (or Franz or Johann)." The last day I worked at the studio was the birthday of one of the cast members and Dustin had them bring me a piece of birthday cake and plastic cup of wine.
One less for the memoirs . . .

Welcome home DR Elmore. Glad you had a good trip.

Great story DR Elmore, glad you aren't saving them all for the memoirs

I finally have an hour free and am trying to catch up on the posts.

Glad you had a smooth trip, DR Elmore - we enjoyed our visit with you!
-
Welcome home, DR elmore!
-And I'm looking forward to seeing you on Friday morning too! It has been a while since we've seen each other in person. I just wonder how many other people will be getting up at that hour to catch the movie. I just hope there won't be too many strollers there.
-
I shall shortly be on my way to Mr. Geissman's and we can only hope he has enough energy to finish.
-
Glad to see that DR elmore3003 is safely home! :)

The chiropractor was simply amazing and magical. He assessed, performed a few simple maneuvers, and...crack! crack! crack! Everything was suddenly back in allignment. Just incredible.
-
I think chiropractors are amazing

Hello Jose, Hello Ben!
Happy Birthday Arnold Brockman!
-
Hello, Deb!
-
We simply must start considering the purchase of a 2nd computer... I am always third in line since Vixdad need sit for work and Vixter needs it for school and I just wanna have fun!
-
Currently the Vixter is studying for finals, rehearsing as Alice Kramden in a skit to be performed at a 50's night at her church group and rehearsing her part as a French night club singer in a murder mystery dinner theatre the youth of my church on putting on for the annual church women's dinner

Now I have to throw out all my big clothes so I can't go back!

What a full evening of viewing I've had, and I didn't turn the cable box on at all this evening.
I began with another NCIS episode from season one. It's strange watching the show without Ziva and McGee and Palmer. The gal who's second in billing is not very likable.
-
I watched five episodes of 7TH HEAVEN tonight. Now, I have never watched this show before. Were I not reviewing the box set, I would watch no more episodes of it ever again.
I like several members of the cast, but I dislike the way the episodes are arranged (all of the plots and subplot revolve around a single theme per episode: all about relationship woes, or sympathy for others or being teased) into this overly contrived way of telling stories. What's worse, the writing makes everyone sound like speechmakers rather than real people, and the children all talk much too maturely for believability.
Really am not liking the show at all.
-
I ended the evening watching another NCIS episode, this one about video games leading to a sailor's death. Engrossing, enjoyable episode. Nice to have something to stem that cloying writing from 7TH HEAVEN.
-
There are six discs in the 7TH HEAVEN set, and I'm only on disc two, so there is a LONG way to go.
-
Congratulations, DR Vixmom!!!!

And Barry Watson is also cute (now on SAMANTHA WHO?).
But not much recompense for the time invested.

Now I'm going to write for a bit and then head down to bed.
Good night!

A friend and I were bemoaning the fact that we both ate our last Tim Tam....
We looked up Arnott's on the web and discovered they made 8 different varieties of these lovely treats....

They are very tasty treats!

Congrats Vixmom!

Back from a VERY long close to four-hour work session with Mr. Geissman. It was slow going, but we managed to get all the fixes and style changes done - I'll print out a new copy in the morning and give it a thorough going over - the final time. One of the things that took so long is I have a habit of using a LOT of em dashes, and in this book, for whatever reasons, I probably had twice as many as usual, so we methodically went through all of them and changed over half of them to other forms of punctuation.
-
The notes will obviously be going up late, but there's no one in the jernt anyway, so I'll take my time.
