Noel has vanished...He tends to be a Dear Reader, not that much of a Writer, these days.
I've just discovered that one of the other musicals that debuted in 1948 was Kismet.
With competition like that, no wonder no one has heard of Love Life. It was fate!
1948 was the Wright-Forrest flop MAGDALENA with john Raitt, Dorothy Sarnoff, and Irra Petina and a fantastic score; KISMET's 1951 or 1952 for Broadway, but it began in LA with Edwin Lester.I stand corrected.
I'd loved to have seen TWO'S COMPANY. It's on the books as a flop because it had to close early due to Bette Davis' health (or boredom) issues. It had been selling out for three months prior to her having to leave the show and would no doubt have made a handsome profit if Davis had stayed with it.
BTW, I have a new TV. :)
My favorite part was calling both the Ohio and California corporate offices of Funai to inform them they had broken Oregon state law by telling me I had to send the tv to California for repair. ;)
I always thought TWO'S COMPANY was like JUBILEE and FADE OUT FADE IN: Mary Boland drops out and the show folds; Boland's problems were an alcoholic propensity and being unused to an 8-performance schedule after the liesurely Holywod schedule. I've always wondered how actually sick Davis and Burnett were. Porter never forgave Boland for the JUBILEE closing; when she wrote her autobiography, he refused to write a back cover blurb for her.
Jose - do you think that ever in practice costs you future work, I mean, if you have aunion person "nudge" somebody?

I am really having a time trying to get motivated to do anything, it's so hot outside. The most constructive thing I've done so far is pay bills, go to the post office and get a cup of iced coffee. Maybe the coffee will motivate me to go to the laundromat.
From the short list for movies that should be projected on the side of a building:
Pink Floyd's The Wall.
;D
A high of 95 is predicted today. There's a lot of stuff going on today, but most of it involves being outside.
I'm in the same boat. I had no real plans for today, but I know I should get out and do something. I could make it a movie day, or I could just pick another part of town to wander and explore. We shall see...
of course he asked me, of all people, how the girls were in Hollywood...I told him he would likely have no problem in that department! LOL!

I think young Brandon will do well out in Californy! He has a great attitude, he is not shy, and he is level headed.... of course he asked me, of all people, how the girls were in Hollywood...I told him he would likely have no problem in that department! LOL!
MBarnum - I see from Brandon's online resume that he starred in a school production of STAR WARS. Did he talk about this, and if so, was it a musical?
FJL, how did you manage to find Brandon's online resume?
The Weather Channel is indeed Geriatric MTV, as Cilla says - At one point, before I discovered NY1 and CNN, I would keep it on nonstop because I enjoyed their choice of music. :)

No discs in the mail, alas!
tickets were $38.00 (for non celebrities like me).
Well, you are welcome to drop by here and help with mine:
Spiderwick Chronicles (just forward me your review, I'm sure it will be fine ;D)
John Adams
Bucket List
Prehistoric Earth (big boxed set)
Mannix Season 1
Two Fat Ladies (big boxed set of old BBC comedy series)
Robin of Sherwood (big boxed set of old BBC fantasy series)
Oy. Luckily, I'm through with Spiderwick, about halfway through Adams and Bucket List, and have a couple episodes of Mannix done. But this is one heckuva lot of stuff to have to get through in the next few days!
No thanks.
I wish I could have seen STEEL PIER. I was in New York in '97 to see the first preview of TITANIC. When the TITANIC preview was delayed from Friday to Sunday, I had to flip a coin between seeing two other shows in preview, STEEL PIER and JEKYLL AND HYDE. I lost the coin toss and saw JEKYLL AND HYDE. I did think that Robert Cuccioli was very good in the role, but I wasn't terribly impressed with Linda Eder (maybe she had an off-night).
TCB, was your avatar photo taken in JRand57's front yard?
I didn't even notice that credit until later. We mostly talked about his movie roles, so I am not sure. He took down my phone and e-mail so when I hear from him I will find out.
In honor of 1938, the year most of them got their SAG cards. ;D
What's scares me is I sometimes find myself humming the tune to "Local on the 8s"
...and found out that Kenny is good friends with Matt Battaglia, of all people! They have known each other since the late 80s back in Florida.
Yeah, it's pretty quiet 'round here tonight, DR TCB.
No storms at your place, I hope, Ginny?
Hi, gang. I'm in Chelsea Studios trying out the wireless.
Let me just say this:
I HATE TOUCHPADS!!!
I know that makes me unconnected and an old fogey but I despise them. I will use a mouse over a touchpad anytime. That being said, being in Chelsea using high speed wireless is fun. There is no table or large enough flat area so I'm using the touchpad to navigate. Anthony is here taking a shortened dance class and he's back so goodbye.
Two Fat Ladies (big boxed set of old BBC comedy series)
..we have a Guadaloupe Cucumber!
I bought a passion vine at Lowe's and spent some time (get this) moving caterpillars to it. They seemed grateful. Then I delivered a food box.
Twenty years ago today, Richard, Rob, and I moved into this house. There are some boxes in the basement I still haven't unpacked.
Hoffa Sixpence - my new Tommy Steal musical (oh, we've done this one already)
DR jhvw could use some health vibes. Don't exactly have the whole scoop on what's up because I'm getting my infor second and third hand (we are a dysfunctional midwestern family after all, communication is not one of our fortes). Anyway, he's been sick and has to go in for what I believe will be relatively minor surgery Monday morning. So, health vibes would be appreciated. Thanks
I don't ever understand how people don't understand STRUCTURE.

Thunder and G.I. vibes for Cillaliz!
Indeed, Cillaliz, I am having the time of my life...oh, and I haven't even mentioned the most handsome guy dressed as Tonto, yet! 8)
What I really want to know is why the strawberry rhubarb sauce includes lemon juice. Is it just as a preservative of some sort? It isn't like rhubarb needs the tartness of lemon juice
Rhubarb, like avocado, discolors easily - lemon juice keeps it fresh looking.

Hello.
Vibes to JHVW.....
Structure is important even in a curtain speech....which I will be giving for ALL MY SONS, but I don't think I can be as funny as I usually try to be.
Am American in Paris is on TCM again in a few hours, but I have learned not the bring THAT movie up around here.
Hey BK - ever seen a Mario Bava film caused Bloody Sunday?
If converted to a musical, George could find another star vehicle:

It's actually Black Sunday, and it's one of my top-ten great horror films ever. I actually issued the soundtrack on Bay Cities. It's quite brilliant.

I just got home, and have to catch up on the posts, but....
Currently, outside my apartment, there are a number of police cars. My block is currently cordoned off with police tape. Right before I stepped into my apartment, another police car drove up and a couple officers jumped out of the back of the truck and proceeded to don police gear and pull out their guns and rifles. And as of five minutes ago, there are now two(!) police helicopters circling over the block, and focusing their searchlights on the windows and roof on the row houses across the street...
Guess I'll be up for a while... :-\
Creative Bench vibes for DR Jose!

"Two Fat Ladies" was one of the very few cooking shows I could tolerate - because it was entertainment!
Make that "The Cook and the Chef"
