Re: The discovery of the uncut print of Metropolis.
The quality of the print unfortunately is not pristine. I have seen some captures from it and it will need a lot of cleaning up. I don't think that it will match the quality of the current version.
I have the KINO DVD release which I think is the most recent one.
Here is a link to an article with captures from the lost footage.

It is hard to choose a favorite.
Comedies:
Chaplin, Keaton, Laurel & Hardy, Keystone Cops so many others.
Dramas
Metropolis, Nosferatu, Das Cabinet des Dr, Caligari
To call these German Silent Films just doesn't sound right.
How about Silent Films from Germany?
There is also the first film (and the last film) to win an Academy Award for "Artistic Quality of Production" Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans
Wings
The sad thing about most of the films from the silent era is that they no longer exist.
-
SO WHERE IS EVERYONE!???
USUALLY THERE IS A PAGE OR SO BY THIS TIME!!!!

To wet one's appetite regarding the "lost" Metropolis here is one of the captures

Good morning, all! Around 5:15 this morning, I had fnished everything but haro and celesta, so I decided to crash for a while. Around 5:30 the apartment ghost did its appearance and my computer burst into life and freaked me out. Around 7:30 I had a horrible charley horse in my left calf and now I am out of ed and rady to finish the final two orchestra parts.

Good morning!
Semi-cool morning which is rapidly heating up. I think I'm going to have to turn the A/C back on even before I head back down for lunch preparation. It's been kind of warm in my office this morning even with the window open and the attic fan working.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for the arrival of those Criterion discs today. If they don't come, I can't possibly get them until Saturday since there is no mail delivery tomorrow.
If they don't come, I'll be starting JAKE AND THE FATMAN, but I was kind of holding off on that one until I got the Crterions out of the way.

I'll probably switch back to MURDER SHE WROTE while I cook and eat lunch today. Once I finish the next disc in that set, I'll go back to disc 2 in THE CLOSER set.
Of course, I'd love to just sit and have a CLOSER marathon and watch everything all today, but I want to stretch my enjoyment out as much as possible.

re: last night's SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE show
*
*
*
My favorite dance last night was will and jessica's contemporary. So beautiful. I love him!
I also loved katee and joshua's contemporary (mia michaels).
Chelsie and mark's first dance.
And Twitch and Kherington's bed dance was pretty good.
My worst teams are: comfort and thayne, kortini and matt, and gev and courteney.
I am also not sure about jessica. Sometimes i like her (like the contemporary). But sometimes i don't care for her as much.
It should be interesting once they switch partners because some are at a huge advantage (if their partnership truly works).

I have a great many favorite silent films.
Chaplin, of course, stands tallest for me: THE CIRCUS and CITY LIGHTS among my all-time favorite movies by anyone.
Keaton is right up there with SHERLOCK, JR. and THE GENERAL and OUR HOSPITALITY. (And I've never seen THREE AGES which I will get to one of these days.)
Love the silent BEN-HUR, in many ways more enjoyable than the 1959 remake and MUCH shorter.
WINGS, SUNRISE, THE EAGLE, SHOW PEOPLE, NOSFERATU, THE CAT AND THE CANARY, POTEMKIN.
I could go on and on.
-
Now I need to head down, close everything up and turn the A/C back on. Then, it'll be time to check the mail, and then I'll start on lunch preparation.

And the word of the day is: PEREGRINE!
Long, but patently bizarre and potentially amusing, story alert: I responded to an ad asking for a music transcriber several years ago. A kind of addled looking elderly woman showed up at my doorstep with a bag full of cassette tapes, which she emptied out on my coffee table, proceeding to play me one as an example. The tapes were "a cappella" (I use quotes because this term would usually imply singing of some sort) stream of consciousness ramblings of her "singing" IN THE BATHTUB with water dripping and her pet parakeet in the background chiming in from time to time. This woman was an ardent admirer of Buckminster Fuller (I swear, I am not making any of this up) and her ramblings were full of sprechgesang about geodesic domes and PEREGRINATING falcons. I transcribed one of these tapes, but I don't think she had the money to pay for any more.
Fast forward a couple of years. Gabe had just been born and we got a call from a mobile baby picture service that offered to come to your home and take a free picture of your child (of course, we knew the sales pitch was coming for other "packages" of pictures, but that was O.K.). So we made an appointment, and who should show up but Christina, my PEREGRINATING Fuller fan, to take the pictures. I then remembered she had told me she worked in the baby pic business when she had dropped off the tapes. I don't think she recognized me (frankly, I doubt she recognized herself in the mirror some mornings, if you know what I mean), but I recognized her immediately, pulled Betsy in the other room and whispered, "Do you know who that is? PEREGRINATING!" So we went back out, trying not to laugh. Christina attempted to get us to spring for several hundred dollars worth of pics. I agreed to about a $25 package, and then apologized to her, saying she needed to leave, because I had an important PEREGRINATION to attend to. She got the most quizzical look on her face--it was priceless. ;D
-
LOL. I wonder if she ever figured it out.

Sorry to hear about Finn, DR JMK, I remember when you first wrote a post about him awhile ago.....
I am like you, in that I cannot imagine the sorrow of his parents and other family members......

Thanks to all for the comments on the photos.
Yes, DR TCB, I am generally happy with the set. My lighting was done rather quickly and yesterday in Act Three - which takes place at 2 a.m. - a stray instrument had found its way into the cue and it looked like a huge flying saucer was hovering over Stage Left waiting to beam everyone aboard.....I did get rid of that, now I just have to hang an instrument to put some DAYLIGHT inside the house..
Raining today....of course.

I went to see an amazing film last night with a friend. THE FALL has some of the most stunningly beautiful cinematography that I've seen in recent memory. It wasn't over until 12:15 and then I was wide awake afterwards, thinking about it and didn't get to sleep until 2. So I'm at work and kind of tired today!
Here's a link to the trailer. After seeing the film, I think this is one of the best trailers I've ever seen, because it makes the film look so intriguing without giving anything away.

Speaking of DR Sing, whom I believe someone once called DR Rickshaw--one of the sillier, yet funny lines, in ADRIFT IN MACAO is the femme fatale yelling, "Rickshaw, Rickshaw!" A man comes up and says, "Yes? I'm Rick Shaw..."

Today I officially declared myself an impatient patient. Richard is taking me at 6pm for a haircut and "do," maybe that will help.
I broke my ankle a few years ago and DS Betsy took me to the nearest emergency room, which turned out to be the local Methadone clinic. Heroin addicts were shown right in while the rest of us got to sit and wait. Of course, they wouldn't even give me an aspirin until a doctor saw me. I waited about 45 minutes, with my ankle swelling by the second and finally asked how much longer it would be and a nurse told me "probably 2 to 3 hours." I called Betsy, told her to pick me up and take me to another hospital, and informed the nurse, who screamed at me as I left, "All right, go ahead and leave, but I'm marking your chart that you eloped triage!" Ever since then, we have used the term "eloping triage" as much as possible, whether or not it makes any sense in the context of what we're discussing. ;)
-
I'm late for work! Loved the trailer for "The Fall"! I can't wait to see that! :D
-
THE FALL definitely "falls" into the category of "see it in a theatre". If that's not possible, then Blu-Ray might be a good option.
One of the things that I admired was that there were no computer-generated graphics. There are obviously processed shots and visual trickery but it was shot in real locations (in 28 countries!). It took the director 4 years to make the film and he apparently financed some of it himself.

Wow! I did notice that the trailer was had the copyright date of 2006. If this movie does well, I wonder if it will re-inspire other film-makers that they really don't need all the CGI stuff and can film things "live." Hopefully, they started with a good script.

I shall now be on my way to an all-day rehearsal, after which I shall return.

Re: The Fall and Captain Odious. Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer is something of a standup comedian. In days of yore, I used to conduct a biennial parody show featuring all of the democratic candidates and office-holders statewide, and Earl would usually come and do his standup routine. He had some great stuff, like unknown state mottos (Kansas: Our state is more rectangular than yours), but he did a very funny bit on Oregon health insurer ODS, and he asked, "Why would anyone want odious health insurance?" ;)

It's raining quite heavily here in SW Ohio right now. No thunder and lightening, just a steady, soaking rain. You're doing better than I am. I have pretty much thrown in the towel in terms of pre-staging rehearsals on this Revue. What I don't get is these people are being paid, and relatively well, considering the show is only running two times, and they're bitching and moaning about the group numbers they have to learn (I thought I was being extraordinarily nice by letting them all choose their own solo numbers from their own repertoire, around which I cobbled together some semblance of a plot). But when I offer day after day when they can come to my home to run stuff, they're suddenly very, very busy. Oy.

Much to my delight and sheer relief, the two Criterion discs did arrive today. I did not want to spend another semi-sleepless night worrying over their arrival.

I hope DR Kerry is resting comfortably.

The house is now being air-cooled, that's central A/C, that is. Yep, had to break down and turn it back on, and the second I did, it immediately snapped on showing just how warm and stuffy the house had gotten. I was sitting in front of an open window with a fan blowing on me in my office, so it hadn't dawned on me that the rest of the house was stifling. Much better now.
-
I began my afternoon with another MURDER SHE WROTE from the final disc in the season 8 box. Jessica is in Mexico City where a local gangster is murdered. I had never seen this episode, but I did guess the murderer's identity pretty easily. To my surprise, James Coburn was the central guest star; I never knew he had guested on MURDER SHE WROTE. This was some years before he won the Oscar. Also in the cast were Gregory Sierra and Shelley Morrison.
-
Next, I watched Mishima's PATRIOTISM. Obviously I had never seen it before, but what exotic, erotic, arresting, and disturbing images! And what a gorgeous man he was!

I watched all of the bonuses, too, though I wish the five crew members from PATRIOTISM had had a little more of substance to say.
Knowing that he committed hara-kiri in real life in 1970, all the talk about ritual suicide (and the representation of it in PATRIOTISM) is creepy beyond belief.

I ended the afternoon skimming through AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nice plug for Cyndy Lauper's CD and tour, but I fast forwarded through all of that. The Noah storyline goes maddeningly again into fantasyland. I kept hoping Reg would appear from the shadows and scoop up Luke and take him away.

Those two boys are so screwed up, I think a straight writer's trying to write gay and failing. I'm much happier now the psycho bitch is dead.

Don't you just know that Luke is going to go to the recruiter's office and out Noah to them so they'll have to use "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" to turn Noah down and then that will give Noah something else to hate him for.

Some more Emmy semifinalist lists:

Robert Morse, Mad Men
Peter O'Toole, The Tudors
Oliver Platt, Nip/Tuck

When I saw Peter O'Toole's billing as "Special Guest Star" in the credits for THE TUDORS, I knew then we'd be seeing his name in this list. I'll bet he wins, too. Frankly, of the seven on the list I've seen, I wouldn't give it to any of them.

Last night we watched THE GREAT DEBATERS. We thought it was a fantastic movie.
-
The vet that suggested we go exploring inside Sherlock’s paw for the foxtail called today to check on Sherlock. This vet is basically retired & fills in once or twice a week for our regular vet. It was nice of him to remember Sherlock, check his records & notice we didn’t to the surgery. When I explained how well & how quickly the paw healed he was very pleased & said that is a good indication the foxtail did not remain in the paw. He still thinks a foxtail caused the infection.

After seeing the film, I think this is one of the best trailers I've ever seen, because it makes the film look so intriguing without giving anything away.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/thefall/trailer/
Oh, and part of the visual feast--lots of beautiful men on display!
Sadly, I couldn't see the trailer. It said parts of Quick Time were missing. I naturally sent flowers.

I found this dress today at my local Goodwill Store. The label says Saks Fifth Avenue....it is a size 10....and is in very nice shape.....

Oh sure, now you find Coleslaw a wedding dress!

They have added a new wrinkle to the Tacoma Freedom Fair, which takes place tomorrow right down the hill from me on the waterfront (A Kazan reference). The City of Destiny has given permission for the Air Force fighter jets to practice their flyovers this afternoon, with a rather thunderous reaction. Tomorrow I am sure that they will get a wonderful ovation for the flyover, today's only reaction was the cats both flipping them a paw.

I declined it; he gave it to his mother. It was shy. I saw it recently. Not very social. A rottweiler-chow mix, I think.

David and Jayson will very soon be legally wed in the State of California.
I met David (singdaw) today at his hotel and we window-shopped around Union Square and down Maiden Lane. While there, we picked out some jewelry for our moms, gaped at some stoves in Williams-Sonoma, oohed-and-aahed at many delectables inside Gump's (including a vase that could pay for a full set of porcelain veneers, and various/assorted china and silver patterns), stood speechless at the windows of Christofle's and at Bacarat's, and generally had a nice time of dashing here and there.
Then we picked up Jayson and went to "David's" delicatessen across the street from San Francisco's Curran Theater. We each had the special -- hot pastrami on rye. Singdaw also had a sampling of the house chicken liver and Jayson was all over a side of garlic-dill pickles. For dessert, we each had something. I don't know what David and Jayson shared -- something chocolate with some white fluffy stuff on it. I had a peach shortcake-type of dessert only because they were out of the strawberry.
It was fun, it was mad, it was borderline PC and we shared many laughs. The forum was spoken of fondly and considerately.
I had a marvelous time....and then, it was all-too-soon over and we had to part as Singdaw and Jayson needed to be on their way by 3 p.m.
They are very delightful in person and a charming couple.

Happy wedding wishes to DR Singdaw and his soon to be spouse!
-
Thank you for the report, Ron. It sounds like you all had a good time.
I believe we did, indeed. I didn't want to be late meeting singdaw, but my caution got me into the city an hour earlier than our ageed-upon meet time (noon). Earlier this week, we thought we were going to meet as early as 10 a.m., and I was gonna schlep singdaw over toward Pier 39 and then up the hill to climb Coit Tower. After that, I was gonna schlep him into North Beach to see what remains of the Italian influence there. But, alas, 'twas not to be. Singdaw had himself booked on a tour of a museum, so our schlepping time was curtailed. At lunch, Singdaw expressed some relief over the fact that we hadn't, in fact, done any more schlepping than we did in that hour before lunch.
It's just as well, too, 'cause the way my dogs are barking right now, I can say I did enough for one day. The newlyweds have all day tomorrow to explore the city of San Francisco. They have a car, too, in case they want to hop over to Sausalito or somewhere else in Marin County.
In the hour I had before meeting Singdaw, I went to Rasputin (a store similar to Amoeba) and shopped the used CDs. I hadn't planned on doing it. I, in fact, told myself I would not do it. But nothing passes time as quickly as shopping, and CDs are appealing. I walked out with a bag full...four multi-CD sets of operas, including three Philips label Bohm-conducted "Ring" sets (Siegfried, Die Walkyrie & Gotterdammerung) ($12.95 each). And for $9.95, I found a like-new "Turandot" -- Sutherland/Pavorotti/Mehta. It's an extra for me, and will be a gift, someday, for someone I think might enjoy it as much as I do. There were several used movie score-related CDs, too, all in the $4.95 range.
All in all, it was an hour well-spent and a good augury for the next three delightful hours.
-

Well at least you got me to log on Michael!
Oft times we do seem to be in isolation at HHW. I think there are quite often times that although posters are listed, they are not at their PC. My friend BK (Brad) did not cope with the lack of response (I guess some people are more used to "chat" rooms) and I think François has often felt that his posts were really not worth the trouble.
Some times circumstances just are such that we are really not on line with others and when we catch up on 12 pages or so we often don't bother to comment!
Yes Michael - I read your posts. I only ignore those by DR TCB. (because I Can!)
BTW - I now have (thanks to DR td's information) a vocal version of the Oscar nominated song from "Hawaii".
If you read my post :) I'll send you the track when my burner is back up and running.
I'm still using my old PC which is so very slow!
Now to catch up (except for reading TCB's posts. Why would a cruise take 14 days from Auckland to Sydney - people have rowed boats across the Tasman sea!)

DR Ron Pulliam, thanks for this update. Now, if you'd only get your sorry butt to Manhattan . . .
I'm a bit tipsy from the margaritas at La Cucina, where I met my friend Kirk for drinks and dinner. I couldn't nap, however much I tried today, so I think I'll sleep quite well tonight.

Why would a cruise take 14 days from Auckland to Sydney - people have rowed boats across the Tasman sea!)
Now I'm wondering why this trip includes 4 days "at sea", two of which are back to back.

Thank you Dakota.
He was very cute this afternoon. He likes to flop on our bathroom floor on hot days. I walked in and turned the shower on & he rushed to leave the room. I laughed & said it was ok so he decided to stay, just a distance from the shower.
Later Keith walked in & turned on the shower at which point Sherlock did leave the room.

I bet if a cruise ship were designed to be dog friendly it would be the busiest cruise ship around.

Are we STILL on page eight?

Back from Art's Deli - I had my tri-salad - two scoops of turkey salad and one scoop of egg salad, cole slaw and some rye bread - only meal o' the day, so while it was very filling I'm hoping I don't gain anything and/or finally lose a pound or two. I am determined to be ten pounds thinner in the next four week. And then ten pounds more each month for the two months following that. Then I'll be within pounds of my preferred weight.

I waited about 45 minutes, with my ankle swelling by the second and finally asked how much longer it would be and a nurse told me "probably 2 to 3 hours." I called Betsy, told her to pick me up and take me to another hospital, and informed the nurse, who screamed at me as I left, "All right, go ahead and leave, but I'm marking your chart that you eloped triage!" Ever since then, we have used the term "eloping triage" as much as possible, whether or not it makes any sense in the context of what we're discussing. ;)
Is that because you're a lesbian?
-
I'm quite sated at this particular moment. No more food today, and that's a good thing.
-
I bet if a cruise ship were designed to be dog friendly it would be the busiest cruise ship around.
Apparently, specialty cruises don't always work. Several years ago, Carnival introduced the first totally smoke-free cruise ship. They didn't even allow smoking on deck, and the crew was not allowed to smoke either. Everyone thought it would be the wave of the future.
Recently, Carnival very quietly turned the ship into a regular smoking-allowed cruise ship.

Der Brucer is watching something about Bob Newhart on PBS.

Have a wonderful vacation, T-Punk! And for those of us who are vacation-challenged, please post pictures!
-
At Comcast.net, they have a Photo Center (http://www.comcast.net/photocenter/), and on that page is a description of how Comcast users can share their own photos and the picture next that to description makes me think that TPunk has a twin!
(http://www.comcast.net/ui/images/lib/themes/landing/photocenter/body/img4.jpg) (http://www.haineshisway.com/community/YaBBImages/avatars/TPunkAvatar.jpg)
:)
I see the resemblance, but alas I do not have twin. Although that would have been cool, trading places in school, creating a secret language all our own... ;D
-
Thanks for all the travel vibes everyone!
-
I'm quite tired and fell asleep for thirty count them thirty minutes.
-
I am watching Hairspray while I wait for my hair color to set so I can rinse it out.
-
The same man has both dogs.
;D
-
Those are my favorite days. Nothing to do but sit my pool, read a good book, and nap.
I can manage that for one day, if the previous days have been very busy.
-
DR TPunk, SAFE AND EASY TRAVEL VIBES AND A WONDERFUL TRIP!!!

I am having a friend over for lunch tomorrow... We are having a small picnic ...
-
I have "Fireworks in the Sky" from the brain running in my mind...
-
Is that because you're a lesbian?
That's undoubtedly from his lesbianic gene....possibly from a past life. For all we know, he's the reincarnation of Alice. B. Toklas.
-
I think this has been the week for songs stuck in my mind...
At one time or another during the week:
Bolero from CArmen
Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia by ABba
4th of July from THe Brain from Planet X
Puppy Love by Donny Osmond
Lucky STar by Madonna
Ring of Fire by Johnny CAsh....
-
Or Gertrude Stein....or Virgnia Woolf. He's obviously not a reincarnation of one of those run-of-the-mill butches.
-
I really do need to listen to something to unstuck my mind...
-
nice avatar george....
Thanks! :)

A few hours ago, DR Michael S kindly picked me up at my hotel, and chauffeured me over to Houston's where we me up with DR ArnoldMBrockman and his DW (Dear Wife) Roni.
We managed to get a table outside which happened to be one the water - well, at least by one of the water ways - and one of the draw bridges too.
It was great seeing DR Michael S again, and it was a true pleasure finally getting to meet DR Arnold Brockman - especially since I tend to run into his son in NYC on a weekly basis. We had a had a wonderful meal, shared some great stories, and, surprisingly, none of us had dessert(!!).
After dinner, Michael brought me back to my hotel.
All in all, a very nice evening. :)
-
I plan on having a three day staycation!
-
*DR Michael S did have his camera with him, and the "proof" will be posted either later tonight, or tomorrow morning. -Whichever comes sooner or later. ;)
-
Speaking of DR Sing, whom I believe someone once called DR Rickshaw--one of the sillier, yet funny lines, in ADRIFT IN MACAO is the femme fatale yelling, "Rickshaw, Rickshaw!" A man comes up and says, "Yes? I'm Rick Shaw..."
The whole "Rick Shaw" joke worked like gangbusters on stage. In fact, I the whole show worked better on stage that it does on record, imho.
-
Glad you had a lovely time Jose meeting Micheal and DR ARnoldBrockman.
-
Dang, the cruise lines must already be taking a hit from the high fuel prices. I just got an offer for a 14 night cruise on Celebrity Cruise Lines from Auckland to Sydney including round trip air, starting at $2,799.00 per person.
Yep. Even some of theme parks are offering gas cards and other travel rebates right now as part of their vacation packages.
-
I think Stanley Tucci deserves an Emmy just for breathing.
I love him, too.
Of course, he won the guest actor comedy Emmy last year for his appearance on MONK (playing the Hollywood version of Monk, a very hilarious impersonation).
-
Back from Art's Deli - I had my tri-salad - two scoops of turkey salad and one scoop of egg salad, cole slaw and some rye bread - only meal o' the day, so while it was very filling I'm hoping I don't gain anything and/or finally lose a pound or two. I am determined to be ten pounds thinner in the next four week. And then ten pounds more each month for the two months following that. Then I'll be within pounds of my preferred weight.
Hmmm... So... Turkey Salad... Egg Salad... Cole Slaw... That's a lot of mayo.
Just sayin'.
You really do need to eat more food, and more often.
-
In other news...
The run-thru for the head of the Entertainment of Norwegian Cruise Lines went very well today. Tomorrow - our final day of rehearsal - should be an easy day. There are a few loose ends to take care of, but, otherwise, it will be a day of reviewing and final note-checking. We'll also be ending the day early in order to give time for everyone to get their packing done - and get some sleep. -The shuttle for the airport will be getting here on Saturday at 4:30AM.
-
Had some fun viewing experiences tonight.
I began with THE OLD MAID from the Bette Davis Warners box set. This movie caused the first fight my former partner Steven and I ever had. Neither of us had ever seen it, and I saw it was coming on AMC or some other movie channel. I set the VCR (remember those?) for the length of the movie.
Later, when we were watching it back, we realized that I hadn't figured in enough time for the introduction by the movie channel host, so we missed the last five minutes of the movie.
An innocent mistake and a really stupid fight, but fight we did.
-
The transfer for THE OLD MAID was dazzling, I thought. One of the best non-special edition transfers of a black and white movie I've seen in ages.
-
DR Ron Pulliam - I'm glad you were able to meet up with DR singdaw and his DH Jayson today. It sounds like you had a wonderful time.
*I remember "David's" - YUM!
**And, hopefully, whenever I return to San Francisco - and, hopefully, for more than just one day next time! - we'll finally be able to have a tête-à-tête face to face. :)
***No See's? or Teuscher? or RichArt? ;)
-
Then I plucked TERMINATOR 3 on Blu-ray off the shelf and watched that. It looks better than TERMINATOR 2 and about the same as the original TERMINATOR on HD disc. The sound was an amped up bitrate of Dolby Digital but not a lossless track. WTF?
-
Then I watched tonight's FEAR ITSELF. There were some effective scare moments early on, but much of it was simply repulsive, and the twist ending wasn't really up to par.
-
Gas has gone down another two cents since two days ago, for a total of four cents. Even the idiotic news media had to acknowledge it today, albeit begrudgingly.
-
DR Michael S - As for people not responding to your posts... Well...
I do read all the posts. However, I do not respond to all the posts. Sometimes I don't have a response for any number of reasons, and some posts just don't seem "response-worthy", or rather in need of a response. Some posts - like many on yours - I see as informational, sort of like a news item. In other words, they do provide information, but they don't necessarily act like a "question" or "query". And when you do ask a question, I just don't have an answer. -Yes, I like movies, but I'm not a film buff by any means, so when you ask questions about a release date, an actor/actress, a director, a theme song, etc... Well... ???
That's my story, and I believe that other DRs share the same story.

*And they will most likely go back up again after the holiday weekend. Gas stations are trying to make sure that some people DO drive this weekend. -Especially since AAA has been forecasting that people are curtailing their holiday travel/driving plans due to the rising gas costs.
-
My eyes are feeling really heavy now, so I think I'll head down to bed.
Good night!
-
Well, if I'm to be functional tomorrow for my last day of rehearsal here, I best head to bed now, so...
Goodnight.

We(My Wife and I) had a wonderful Dinner and Evening with DR Jose and DR Michael S at Houston's. It was a pleasure meeting Uncle Jo Jo and the amazing(truly amazing) part of the evening was no one-Yes no one (including DR Jose) had Dessert. Maybe a first for Jose? I don't know.A world Record (maybe)-But maybe one for Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
A Great Way To Spend a Thursday Evening

Too late for that, and it's not working. I've heard from many people who were planning on going somewhere who are staying put. I hope the gas stations at least have a bad week.
-
I took a long walk - strolled Ventura Blvd., looked at shops, looked at the line of people outside of the California Pizza Kitchen (on a Thursday night at eight!), looked at the full house at Mexicali, picked up the new edition of Video Watchdog at Barnes and Noble, looked at a new frozen yogurt place that I'll try in a day or two - I rarely ever walk around here, don't really know why, so it was fun.
-
Good Evening! I'm writing from the lake. We had a great time today. The 3rd is when then shoot the fireworks at this lake and we had a crowd of about 20 including DRs Samantha, AJameson, Sundee and of course Baby Gabe. I got some fun photos today but am too tired to edit them and post them tonight
-
AJameson got some fabulous photos of the fireworks. I'll post one tomorrow when it's officially the 4th.
-
DR AJ says hello to everyone. He had to be at work this morning at 5:00 or some ungodly hour like that. He got off work at 3:00 then left for the lake at 4:00 and arrived here around 7:30 PM. We had dinner and watched the fireworks and he just went to sleep. He is very tired and said he's not going to post tonight.
-
Well, it's not really still DR FJL's Mother's Birthday, so belated happy birthday!!
-
We are having our first real monsoon storm of the summer. So far lots of lightening and thunder and wind. I still think it is too dry for rain. I hope there are no more lightening-sparked fires from it.
-
Here's a teaser of AJameson's photos
-
I always read what yiu write Michael and I always enjoy it. and I will put an extra $1 in the collection plate for you this Sunday!
Well bless you for that!!

Here is a memento from My Dinner With
Andre The Brockmans and DR Jose
A picture of Jose before he found out he was picking up the check.

Here is Brockman (husband) thinking about what tune to chose for tomorrows song of the day.

And Brockman (wife) who sparkled with beauty and conversation
-
And now the group photo taken by our charming server Jose
-
Thanks for all the donations.
I will give $20.00 and some can goods to a food bank called Pavarello. They have a thrift shop and food bank for helping people who are HIV+ and have AIDS.
-
Can someone unsqueeze these photos? These people are TOO THIN!
