Well, you've read the notes, the notes had fireworks and independence, and now it is time for you to post until the independent cows come home.

And the word of the day is: LINCTUS!

I'm the only one in the jernt. Well, me and these eleven GUESTS.

Fireworks!

I gotta tell you.

Well, no one can say we didn't get to page one.

What am I, doing a monologue?

We have ten GUESTS and li'l ol' me.

On my DVR to be watched: last night's "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List."
Just burned onto a DVD+R: "My Sister Eileen" with Rosalind Russell and Janet Blair, that I recorded on TCM. I'd never seen this original movie, the non-musical basis for Wonderful Town, also starring Rosalind Russell. :D

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I guess I did lose a pound or two while I've been down here in FLL. ;)
-
In other news...
It's been a slow morning for me. The past two weeks have really caught up with me. I have a feeling that once we end rehearsal today, I shall be heading back here to the hotel to finish my packing and then veg and sleep until the shuttle comes to pick us up at 4:30am. We shall see.
-
And thanks once again to DRs Michael S, ArnoldMBrockman and his lovely wife, Roni, for their wonderful company last night. Truly a happy capper of this whole trip/experience.
-
And now...
Laters...
-
Happy 4th of july!

Thanks also for the belated 80th birthday wishes to my Mom as well. I've been relaying the messages to her. She's a very smart lady, but doesn't understand (or more accurately doesn't seem to care to understand) the whole internet thing, so she doesn't seem to understand how I know these people wishing her happy birthday on the internet - so i told her they're online friends of Bruce Kimmel, the producer who did the Last Starfighter readings and album, and she seems to understand it then.
-
So dropping BK's name even registers with my mom. :)

Now if only we could get to page 2

I am totally shocked again that IMO America got it right with the bottom 3 teams. It is so odd. But this is the first year that i can remember that the B3 have (lately at least) been the ones that were the worst.
I will say though that i was a bit surprised with who the judges sent home. Not for hte guys (gev, thayne and matt were in the B). I totally agree that gev should have been safe. His solo was so enjoyable. And he has been doing great on the show. I was torn between matt and thayne. I think i like matt better. But he'd been in the bottom a bunch of times. And he just did not "work" with his partner (he left). I will say i was quite surprised that they sent kortini (his partner) home. I thought they loved her. I was not surprised they saved courtney (gev's partner). She did a good solo and had done well on the show. And had never been in the bottom. So it was between comfort and kortini. Comfort never really did anything for me. And i was really surprised that only nigel voted for comfort to go.
I still think it will be interesting once the teams split up. There are people like will, who i am sure it will not affect. Since he is better than his team. But there are others like kherington, who works so well with her partner, but may not be as popular alone. I wonder how many weeks till the split?

I wondered aloud yesterday if my dad had had a little too much sangria at the celebration since the sangria was flowing - but he seems to be fine and dandy, so in retrospect I'm glad he enjoyed.

And dad wasn't driving, so no issue there anyway.

Awesome photos, Cillaliz! I haven't figured out how to take fireworks photos. But then, I don't go to fireworks shows, so I guess it's a moo point.

Yes, DR LAURA it is a Moo Point.
And you get there one way or an udder.

Happy Fourth everyone!!!

I saw fireworks on the way home from rehearsal last night..... I had arrived at the theatre about 3:30. I hung a light instrument, focused it, and added it to the necessary cues.
Then of course discovered that the light bled underneath the front porch and also through the siding.... So I had to cut styrofoam to mask that....
Then I put a couple of rugs down inside the "house" to keep the stomping of the cast down.
Then I carried all of the props from the Youth Theatre Workshop upstairs - they had been left at the foot of the steps in several boxes.
Then I put ivy on the arbor arch.
Then I finished the display case in the lobby. Then it was 6:15, so I sat down to rest before rehearsal.
Then my friend Karen came by with her new car, a Chrysler Crossfire, and she took me for a FAST spin in it. It's a great car. She says Chrysler can't give them away, a two seat sports car is not what America is looking for. She got a great deal on this Executive Model that had 1000 miles on it....less than half the SRP.
-
It looks just like this:
-
Those Crossfires are fine looking automobiles....I wish they came in a sedan size...not that I could afford one.
-
I was wrong. We didn't have three people gone last night.
We had FOUR people gone. Chris - one of the leads had emailed me and a couple of other cast members that he would not be in tonight.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Well I told the cast that I would read the role, and that I would do it from the house or onstage whichever they preferred. They ask me to read onstage....so I did.....and we cut almost 55 minutes off the show....he talks that SLOWLY......
I am at a loss....but I am starting to learn the part....although I am WAY too old for it.....
And that is why I am in a very very bad mood on this 4th of July.
-
They make a coupe....but I still think it only seats two people. But they are nice.....and FAST!!!
-
Good morning!
It wasn't cool enough when I went to bed last night to turn off the A/C and open the windows, so I'm without fresh air inside the house this morning, the first morning all week where that's happened. Supposedly, tonight it to be a bit cooler, so I might be able to do it then. We'll see.

DR JRand and others who direct shows:
I simply cannot believe these cast people. In all the years I have done theater, I have never missed a single rehearsal nor been late for a single rehearsal (even shows where I was driving almost 60 miles to the theater each night). I was in rehearsal during both root canals that I've had in my life, and I didn't beg off from rehearsal because of the surgery. You get cast in a show - you be there for rehearsals when you're called. It's just that simple.
To be honest, I've never felt any of the directors around here showed gratitude over such dedication since many people do miss rehearsals (for a variety of reasons, some understandable, often not) and still get cast in shows, but that's the way I'm made. Just like I never took cuts from class in college even though I had unlimited cuts, I couldn't NOT go to a rehearsal if I'm expected to be there.
-
Have a good time in PWER-TOE REE-KO, DR TPUNK!!

I will be curious to see what kind of crowd is at the grocery store on July 4th when I go run my errands later. I can't remember going there before on the 4th.

Good morning, all! My first night's sleep in two days and I slept a lot. I was all set to watch Kathy Griffin on MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST at 10 but around 9:45, I figured there were enough Bravo reruns to catch it later in the week. It had to be those 2-for-1 margaritas last night.

I had meant to remind DR singdaw that there is so much more to a marriage than the swelling of the organ and the coming of the bride but I think it's too late now. I can't wait to see him and throw a box of Uncle Ben's at him.

Yes, I did indeed meet DR Ron Pulliam yesterday for lunch and retail therapy; not necessarily in that order. I think I probably looked a little silly running up to every man who strolled in front of my hotel, saying: "Ron? RON??" :) But then, I'm used to looking silly, so...
Anyway, DR Ron Pulliam is a complete delight. I highly recommend him. 8)
And after a walking tour, during which he SHAMELESSLY forced to spend money, we met up wih my intended and had some lovely grub.
I did wish we would have had several more hours, at least.

In honor of Independence Day I will watch the Bollywood film AN EVENING IN PARIS (1967) starring Shammi Kapoor (the Indian Tony Curtis) and Sharmila Tagore (the Indian Barbra Streisand).

-
DR Singdaw, I am glad you guys are having such a fun time!!
-
Thanks to DR elmore3003 and indeed all DRs for the continued good wishes. We are truly honored. :)
After a final farewell hug from DR Ron Pulliam, we quickly refreshed ourselves [and by refreshed, I mean we slapped on some fresh deodorant] and jumped in our rented motorcar and proceeded down Route 101 South out of San Fransisco to Palo Alto. Along with about a hundred zillion other folks. But get there we did.
We proceeded to the in-laws of the friend of ours that was authorized to perform our ceremony. This friend lives just a mile from us back home in New York, but happened to be here visiting with family, so it was kismet. [ A Kismet reference. ;) ] Originally, it was just to be our friend and his wife and the two of us - a quiet, dignified affair. However, the plans had changed, so the in-laws were there and participated. We had an in-house photographer, an in-house sous-chef, an in-house orchestra [an 11 year old on a tenor sax], a lovely 8 year old flower girl, and a stalwart 6 year old ring bearer. Plus a chocolate lab for atmosphere [and by atmosphere, I mean free crotch sniffs]. It was serrendipitous and crazy and loads of fun.
The ceremony was heartfelt and beautiful, held in the backyard garden of the house under sun and a breeze. We then had a lovely champagne toast with fancy hors d'oeuvres and merriment and laughter all around. We were presented with a DVD by the host with pictures from the whole thing, converted into a slide show with personalized music, which was absolutely a surprise and a delight. And if I can figure out how to access the stills, I will post one or two here at HHW.
And then the four of us proceeded into town to dine at TAMARINE, apparently named by Esquire as one of the top 20 new restaurants in the country. It was Asian fusion cuisine, and it was to die for.
And when we finally reached our hotel room back in the city, we collapsed. And that was our day. And we are so glad we did it, and so grateful to everyone along the way for kind thoughts and wishes.
That's our story, and we're sticking to it. :)
-
Re: cast problems. I received a missive from my biggest problem child about a rehearsal I was attempting to schedule on Monday. "It's my birthday, so I'm not inclined to rehearse." OK, then--I guess I'm not inclined to play your solos in a key you can sing them in. ;)

If you're in the mood for a just plain old silly goofy movie, the new straight-to-DVD parody 305 has some great stuff in it.

Thanks for the wedding story, Singdaw! Enjoy the rest of your honeymoon!

I received a peculiar email this morning from someone who had read my review of a concert DVD featuring the National Youth Symphony of Spain (who were quite accomplished, I might add). The email said, "Is that you, Jeffrey, with two F's in Kauffman?" I don't recognize her email and the name just said "Carole." All the Carol's I know don't have "e"'s at the end, so I am convinced that Carole King has had a secret crush on me all these years just like I've had on her. :)
-
Today we shall be running around San Fransisco, and if we determine the old bank account can support it, we may be hieing ourselves to a spa. Where we may see some Germans. Or not.

I also have "The Portable Dorothy Parker" next.

I just started reading Conrad Richter's Awakening Land trilogy, about the settling of the Ohio territory. The Trees is my book group selection for July, but with all the time I have now, I'll probably read The Fields and The Town, too.

Der Brucer's son-in-law just dropped off an ugly trailer, which is now sitting on the yard portion of our home. If the neighbors don't complain about how ugly it is, they should.
Apparently, he and his wife stopped by the store where I work before heading to their camper at the campground. Apparently, it is very busy there today. So much for the predictions that it wouldn't be as busy today as it was yesterday (and it was very busy yesterday). I may head in early today, just because I can.

Anyhow, i'm not actually sure who i want to win. I really like lauren (the blonde 18 year old) and rhiannon. I sometimes like bailey. Sometimes she seems just like what i think elle woods is. But sometimes she is slightly obnoxious.
I actually sort of liked cassie S. Not that i would have chosen her for the part. But i didn't find her as annoying as the girls did.
The one who i do find comes across as annoying is emma. I did not see this past week's show yet. But was it really such a stunner to have her go?
I am not crazy about autumn or celina for the role. Although i think autumn seems really lovely. They play much too old for me. Not sure about natalie. I know a lot of people already know the winner. But i'm sort of happy i don't. It should be interesting to see the rest of the shows.

I don't know if the actors' taking more time off from rehearsals with the least provocation when it's either nonprofessional or "lower-paying" professional contracts is a generational thing; I'm wondering if it's a function of the times we live in rather than a generational work ethic. As we know from various Fringe and NYMF friends, the practice of taking off from rehearsals when you have auditions or other things to do and leaving others in the lurch happened among older actors as well as younger actors; whatever age, they did it because they were allowed under the rules to do so.

Didn't matter if it was a paying gig or not - I never missed a rehearsal. It was unthinkable. Today, it IS both older and younger actors, but the older ones are just watching the general attitude and going along with it. Just as I would never have thought of missing a performance - Broadway actors today miss performances like crazy, for any and every reason.

Even if I decide to jog, it can't be for at least another hour until this thing is completely cleared.
Or you could join the parade and encourage everyone to speed up!
-
We have our Thanksgiving parade in the autumn when it is cooler.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't to page five.
-
And suddenly, der Brucer gets caught on film!
Over at the Rehoboth Beach Farmer's Market website (http://www.rbfarmersmarket.com/), scroll on down to the big picture. Yep, that's him, walking towards the camera on the right hand side of the pic.
I'm not in the picture. Obviously, I was busy shopping.
-
Fireworks!
-
PORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY - isn't that a name of an actual adult film?
-
A friend whose birthday is July 4th had gotten so used to her birthday always being a day off from work. But then she moved to the U.K. for a while, and found out that she had to work on her birthday for the first time because they didn't consider July 4th a holiday there.
-
Time to get ready for work.
Hasta.
With fireworks!
-
The Rehoboth Farmers Market looks like a great place!
-
I am leaving in less than an hour to attend a yearly Fourth Party and / or Barbecue. This year apparently the barbecue portion has been scrapped as she is serving a Mexican theme, i.e. tacos.
She will also be serving ham as she has asked me to read aloud portions of the Declaration of Independence, as well as a selection from Thom Hartmann's book WHAT WOULD JEFFERSON DO?
-
DerBrucer IS somebody! (Almost a "The Jerk" reference).
-
Damn I thought I timed that better.
-
(http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u271/actr2000/fireworks_4th_7.gif)
-
I'm leaving also, but right now. I need to take a shower, get dressed then move things out of the way in my living room downstairs because my sister and dad are coming over to take away the little couch that my sister gave me...she wants it back. :P
-
Actually, I don't mind giving up the couch. ;) I like it, but I didn't specifically choose it. I've seen a couple of other couch/love seats that I think I like better. AND since it'll be out of the way, I'll have more room to clean up. My aunts (my dad's two sisters) are arriving tomorrow for a two-week visit from California and eventually they'll want to see my place. I've got a couple of weeks before they leave, but I've known for a couple of months that they were coming.
That's me...the King of Procrastinators! ;D
-
Ouch! You're takin' back the couch!
(almost a DO-RE-MI reference)
-
I tidy up, but other folks undo it.
-

You've heard of the British nation and the French nation, this is the Procrastination.

And George, you wear the crown nobly!
Thank you...I try.
;)
-
Well, I must be off now...until later!
-
God rest the soul of Jesse Helms.
May he be reincarnated and become the first GAY President!
Happy 4th of July, everyone.
-
Regarding DR singdaw and his avatar:
I will attest only to the fact that I had no trouble identifying him as I walked up the street toward his hotel.
I was a bit taken aback that he looked at me and said, "Ron?"
As if I'd changed one bit from my avatar taken 31 years ago!!!!
That said, David and Jayson are TALL men! I'm 6 feet, so I'm guessing they're in the 6'3" to 6'5" area code! :D
-
Back from a full jog. It's really hot out.
-
Ron - Since I've met singdaw a number of times in the past couple of years (almost two decades since my Ron-Pulliam-look-alike avatar was taken), I'd imagine he identified you by looking for someone who looked like me.
:)
-
And I absolutely deny forcing singdaw to spend one dime.
It's simply a matter of my shopping habits being contagious.
That's MY story, and I'm sticking to it!
After reading singdaw's account of their afternoon/evening, I have to say those boys HAD to be tuckered out. I nearly suffered a relapse just reading it. I slept in this morning. In fact, I had to shame myself out of bed at 10 a.m.
I've been catching up on e-mails and posting hither, thither and yon (HHW is "hither"), and now I'm seriously in need of sustenance (I've had a cup of coffee today and that's all). It's time for some carbs...in the form of spaghetti and meat sauce (prepared earlier in the week and frozen).
Play safely, one and all!
Ciao-ders for now-ders!
-
Might I just ask where in tarnation IS everyone? You'd think it was the 4th of July or something.
-
Still sweating like a pig.
-
Perhaps I'll take a drive for a half-hour or so.
-
It's actually a little cloudy today, but that's not stopping the ninety-five degree temperature.
-
Maybe I'll watch something fun on DVD.
-
I am my own frenzy.
-
At long last page six.
-
Anyone missing my earlier post about Jesse Helms, please remit your $3500. Thank you.
-
The City of Studio Thanksgiving neighborhood parade just passed by - so many people and their kids and dogs.
Thanksgiving?
-
I am curious about something
We celebrate July 4th as our Independence from England.
Does England have July 4th?
-
Does England have July 4th?
Yes--I'm told it regularly occurs between July 3rd and 5th.
-
Who amongst you didn't see that one coming?

Thank you, ladies and germs, I'll be here all week.
-
Jesse Helms has shuffled off this mortal coil. Don't let that spoil your fourth. ;)
No, it won't spoil it at all, and I'm just sorry he didn't meet his maker earlier rather than inflict all the damage of ill feelings and hate he did for far too long.
-
I got my answer about the grocery store. When I pulled into the parking lot, it looks relatively empty, so I was heartened by that. But once inside, it was crowded. Not as jammed as I've seen it, but still quite full, and the self-check lane (which has four kiosks) was full with two people ahead of me.
-
I watched the first MURDER SHE WROTE episode while I cooked and ate lunch. It featured Darrin McGavin as a well known playwright being terrorized by person or persons unknown. Also in the guest cast were Stephen Bogardus, Ken Kercheval, and Austin Pendleton.
-
Just as I was finishing up lunch and rinsing off my dish to set in the dishwasher, a friend dropped by for a visit, and he stayed almost an hour. We had a nice talk and some laughs, but by the time he left, it was too late to start MISHIMA and finish it this afternoon as I had originally planned.
I therefore made the executive decision that today will be a holiday for me, and I will view nothing to write about but only stuff for fun.
-
So, the first order of business was to finish watching the remaining two episodes of MURDER SHE WROTE in the season 8 set.
The next one featured an old friend of Seth's coming back to Cabot Cove and getting mixed up in a murder. Gerald O'Laughlin and Robert Lansing were among the guest stars in this episode. I had seen it before and remembered who the murderer was.
-
And the season finale involved a toy manufacturer helping Jessica develop a board game called "Murder Will Out." John Hillerman played the toymaker, and others in the guest cast included Angela's nephew David Lansbury and Barbara Babcock.
-
I had time left over to skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Even though he wasn't in the previews, Luke was on the show today for a couple of scenes with his father. He was in the previews, too, doing exaactly what I predicted yesterday when I wrote about the show.
-
I have '1776' cued up in the player ready to go when I go back down in a little while. I'm looking forward to seeing it upconverted on my TV since this will be the first time I've watched since getting this new TV back in September.
-
Good Afternoon!
12 hours from now, I shall be heading to the airport for my return trip back to New York City... HOO and RAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
-
-And as expected and planned, it was a very easy day of rehearsal for me. I had about an hour's worth of music clean-up to take care of this morning, and then the rest of the day was devoted to revisiting and refreshing "Cirque Asia" - in which there is no singing. So, I was able to spend some time cleaning up and marking and re-marking my score for the Vocal Captain. Best of all, we finished at 3:00!
:)
-
Thank you, ladies and germs, I'll be here all week.
Thankfully, the week ends tomorrow.
;)
-
DR Cillaliz (and AJ) - Great fireworks photos!
-
DR elmore - I'm glad you were able to get some sleep last night. -That's a good way to start the holiday weekend.
-
DR Jose - that's an early wake-up call you have tomorrow!
-
When I got back to the hotel, I started the first part of my "departure procedure". I gathered my trash and put it in the garbage can. I checked the various drawers for any stray items, and I made sure to start charging all the necessary personal electronics (iPod, camera, cell phone). My luggage is basically already packed - I put all my clothes away the other night after doing my laundry. So, come the morning, all I really have to do is put the rest of my clothes in my bag, and head down to the lobby.
There are no plans right now for anyone to head out to catch any fireworks, but I'm pretty sure I'll be staying put and watching some of them on TV, and then try to get a few hours of sleep before I have to head downstairs.
-
DR Jose - that's an early wake-up call you have tomorrow!
YEP!
-I'm actually feeling like napping right now, but I think I'm going to stay up so that I can a few hours of sleep tonight. We shall see...
-
Glad the stores were empty DR MattH. I am hoping the freeway is the same as I must hie myself to the Portland airport soon to pick up an out-of-towner from Baghdad.
-
And I finished AN EVENING IN PARIS...it was a rather fluffy little romantic comedy with not much of a plot...mainly a showcase for some really fun musical numbers.
-
Great fireworks pics!
But i am curious. Why were the fireworks last night and not tonight?
This is a lakes area with a chain of lakes. The lake we are on isn't the primary tourist area. That lake has fireworks on the 4th, so we have our fireworks on the 3rd. It's been this way for years. We kind of like it that way
-
Upon my return from PDX I will continue my movie watching....I don't think I have anything pertaining to America's Independence from England...but I am certain that I have something about India's Independence from England.
Gosh, but England certainly was greedy, weren't they!
-
And I finished AN EVENING IN PARIS...it was a rather fluffy little romantic comedy with not much of a plot...mainly a showcase for some really fun musical numbers.
But that doesn't describe about 90% of Bollywood movies?
-
Congrats once a again Singdaw and husband of! What a wonderful day for you both!
-
...There are no plans right now for anyone to head out to catch any fireworks, but I'm pretty sure I'll be staying put and watching some of them on TV...
A Capitol Fourth on PBS?
Macy's 4th of July Fireworks on NBC?
Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on CBS?
Decisions, decisions!
-
I'm also extremely happy for DR Singdaw and his now officially DH. Much continued happiness and good times for you both!
-
And now, I'm going to head down and get a head start on watching '1776.'
WBBL.
-
MORE FIREWORKS!!!
-
Look at the fireworks, fireworks, up in the night sky (an IN THE HEIGHTS reference)
-
Thanksgiving?
I have no idea what ANY of you are talking about. :)
-
DR Cillaliz - love the fireworks photos!
-
PORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY - isn't that a name of an actual adult film?
It sounds familiar, but I might be confusing it with SHAVING RYAN'S PRIVATES.
-
I'm being very lazy. Took a little lazy drive and now I'm sitting lazily at my computer. And shortly I shall get ready to attend a partay.
-
Well, my work on Babes In Toyland is finished for the day. I'm revising the critical notes so they now look like this:
2. Never Mind, Bo-Peep
Sources: Fa, Otto Langey autograph score, 13 pages, Witmark paper Orchestra Score No. 30 "The Crest, enclosed inside bifolium of the same paper titled "(Act I) 2 Tom Tom and Mother Goose Children," in Langey's hand, LOC-VH.
Fmu, copy of Fa by unknown copyist A with vocal parts and lyrics, 24 pages, Witmark paper Orchestra Score No. 30 "The Crest," enclosed inside bifolium of the same paper titled the same as Fa, in the copyist's hand with the title "Never Mind Bo-Peep" written above the title in conductor Max Hirschfeld's hand, LOC-VH.
Fmg, Charles Gisling copy, 13 pages, 13 pages. G. Schirmer orchestra score paper, no number, 24-line paper, 21 staves and 3 percussion lines, upright, 10.5" x 13.5," enclosed inside bifolium of the same paper titled Act 1 Never Mind Bo-Peep by Victor Herbert" in Gisling's hand, with the following information crossed out "No 3 Tom Tom and Mother Goose Children" and "Never Mind Bo-Peep No 2" penciled at the top of the title page, LOC-VH.
Im 1 and Im2, manuscript Witmark Music Library orchestra parts, LOC-TW, TWML.
Ve03, Songs and Excerpts from Babes In Toyland, M. Witmark & Sons, Inc., 1903.
VeS, Vocal score, Babes In Toyland, M. Witmark & Sons, n.d.
Fmu was used by the show's conductor, Max Hirschfeld, who has written in pencil on the first page of the score Tom-Tom's dialogue cue for the music. On the last page he's made a note about Mabel Barrison's dialogue cue for the next bit of incidental music, Alan's Entrance. The assignment of No. 3 on Fmg would confirm its use as a Spielland score: the deleted "With Downcast Eye" was reinserted between the new opening chorus and "Never Mind, Bo-Peep."
The lyric for this number exists as set by Herbert in MacDonough's copyright libretto (Tt1) with the exception of this section which was rewritten:
Baa! Baa! Baa!
It was the black shee (sic) that led them away!
Led them away by the tales that he told,
Baa! Baa! Baa!
For this the black sheep shall certainly pay
When he is back with the flock in the fold!
The published song sheet (Ves03), and all further publications, lost the rhyme through what appears to be one of several typing errors from MacDonough's typist:
Led them away by the tales that he told
Far from their meadow and far from their home
Fmu is the only source for the correct rhyme, and it has been corrected in this edition. The undated Witmark vocal score published after 1929 (VeS) contains an unauthorized tempo marking of "Faster" at the dance section which can be found in no other source. According to TtS, the dance was performed by Bo-Peep and Tom-Tom.
Oy!
-
Are we STILL on page seven?
-
Larry - Got your message! Thanks for the holiday wishes.

I think it might have been easier to just stop there. ;)

I'm much happier wearing my orchestrator hat than my musicologist chapeau!

Well... If a nap happens, it happens...

Just don't miss the boat!
-
Okay, we need a frenzy or three. I'm on my way to attend a partay, but I don't anticipate staying there all that long - I never do. I'll bring my camera, just in case there's something interesting to photograph.
-
Anyway, DR Ron Pulliam is a complete delight. I highly recommend him. 8)
And after a walking tour, during which he SHAMELESSLY forced to spend money...
Friends who take friends to Gump's are to be treasured.
der Brucer
-
This is a frenzy?
-
This is no frenzy. I know a frenzy and this is no frenzy.
-
I took a walk to the partay but there was no one in evidence, so I think I got the time wrong - I think it's five.
-
At least we've got eight GUESTS.
-
In the oven, since I won't get off from work until ten tonight:
A nice big pot of chile. With both beef and pork. And beef stock and beer.
And I've whirred together some cilantro and sour cream to top it with, now chilling in the chill chest.
And he puts Jalapenos in the chile!
The CDC, in their daily salmonella scare, has said maybe it's not tomatoes - could be jalapenos of even cilantro (slasa ingredients).
Hope we're alive come mornin';
der Brucer
-
Going to the O'Neill Center in Waterford, CT to see the show MYTH tomorrow. Dear friends Maureen and Bill are in it.
But I hear the weather is expected to be lousy, so I hope there are no trian delays.
-
Or train delays, for that matter.
-
The show that's appearing at the O'Neill during the day, IN TRANSIT, is excellent - but that's going to have presentations at the York in NYC, so I'm planning on seeing it there in August.
-
So I'll be E&T (Entertained and Traveled) from about 2 pm tomorrow until the wee hours whenever on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
-
Der Brucer's son-in-law just dropped off an ugly trailer, which is now sitting on the yard portion of our home.
I guess the gas crisis hasn't hit home. Son-in-law hooked up a trailer to his Ford F250 truck so he could transport his precious Vintage Mustang to the beach - the family came down in the mini-van.
der Brucer
-
Safe entertainment and travel vibes to FJL!!!!

We have our Thanksgiving parade in the autumn when it is cooler.
"cooler" = mid eighties?

Thanks, Laura!

Well, no one can say we didn't get to page eight.
-
I will, Larry

They could say we didn't get to page eight, but they'd be stinkin' liars

The Rehoboth Farmers Market looks like a great place!
And all those wonderful shade trees just blocks from the beach!

Hi. My name is Bruce.
I'm a jerk.

Time to Nun-proof the condo :)

Really enjoying DR Cillaliz's [AJ's] fireworks photos.

I also leave for the airport tomorrow morning, but not quite as bright & early as DR JoseSPiano.

Time to Nun-proof the condo
NONE PROOF = NO FUN

If you knew Frenzy
Like I knew Frenzy...

A frenzy in need

Do they have frenzies
In Fresno?

DR SWW, I actually did ask the DH if he wanted to carry me across the threshhold.
He said, "What do you want me to do, break my back?" :)
-
Off to another adventure. I love this National Holiday on a Friday deal. We stll have two lovely days of weekend left!! :)
-
Glad the stores were empty DR MattH. I am hoping the freeway is the same as I must hie myself to the Portland airport soon to pick up an out-of-towner from Baghdad.
Is he arriving by carpet?
-
Good Evening!
...And a nap did indeed happen. Much better now. :)
-
-And, now, I'm flipping between "A Capitol Fourth" and the US Olympic Swimming Trials.
Hmm... It does indeed look like Taylor Hicks had had a bit a of grooming and tweezing for his Broadway debut.

DR SWW, I actually did ask the DH if he wanted to carry me across the threshhold.

I keep looking at the proposed plans for the redevelopment and expansion of the Penn Station and the Post Office Building, and they are indeed Grand. I'm just not sure if they're necessary.
-
Hmm....
I've seen Bruce Springsteen, and you, Sir, ain't no Bruce Springsteen. ;)
-
Oh... And now he's trying to be Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger and Peter, Paul and Mary all wrapped into one. -Taylor Hicks that's who.
*I wonder who their first through eighth choices were. ;)
-
Hmm... And Jimmy Smits doesn't seem to be reading or speaking all that well tonight either. ;)
-
Awww... And as the camera pans over the members of the National Symphony Orchestra... And as I start seeing the faces of my friends playing or "taceting"... Awwww... A little pang of homesickness.
-
This could be an interesting evening in Rehoboth.
The beach crowd for fire-works is well in excess of 100,000. Many people park out side of town and take a special shuttle into the beach. The fire-works are planned to start in 45 minutes.
It has now comenced to rain! If everybody decided to call it quits, it would take at least 2-3 hours to clear out the town - there are only two exit roads!
Oooh - rolling thunder to introduce the festivities!
der Brucer
I gamble on the fact that our house sits well down a slope - I leave the TV and the computer on even with lightening strikes nearby.
-
Hmm....
I've seen Bruce Springsteen, and you, Sir, ain't no Bruce Springsteen. ;)
Would you believe Vilanch?
der Brucer
-
-Jerry Lee Lewis is still alive?
;D
-
OK... Whoever wrote the introductions for tonight's "A Capitol Fourth" needs... Well... Needs something. ;)
-
I've ended up watching a delightful British comedy SCENES OF A SEXUAL NATURE with two of my favorite actors, Eileen Atkins and Benjamin Whitrow, as an elderly couple and a lot of entertaining younger ones, including Mark Strong of the BBC EMMA and MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY and Ewan MacGregor.
-
I've been down in the family room watching some of the NCIS marathon with Richard and eating our "picnic" dinner - hot dogs, baked beans, chips.
Now, I'm back in my haven watching the Macy's 4th of July gala.
-
DR GINNY - or DR ELMORE.....what dairies would have made home deliveries in your neck of Ohio back in the late 1940's.....what name should I put on the milk box on the ALL MY SONS set?
-
Fireworks are just starting around here.....
And this year, I don't have to worry about Miss Blue Moon being afraid of the loud noises..... I kind of wish I did, though.
-
- hot dogs, baked beans, chips.
Any chance of a cold beer with that?
der Brucer
-
Any chance of a cold beer with that?
der Brucer
Alas, not for me - blood thinners, you know.
-
DR GINNY - or DR ELMORE.....what dairies would have made home deliveries in your neck of Ohio back in the late 1940's.....what name should I put on the milk box on the ALL MY SONS set?
Before my time, DR JRand, but I'll ask Richard. When I was growing up in Detroit in the '50s, our dairy delivery was Borden's.
-
Ha Ha Ha Richard should know! Thanks.
-
Ours was Maplehurst from the time I can remember which was probably '53 or so, but I think they were only in the Indianapolis and surrounding area.
-
Ha Ha Ha Richard should know! Thanks.
Richard says, "Borden's."
-
SLC was Winder Dairy, which was also a big field trip in probably third or fourth grade.
-
Richard says, "Borden's."
Thank you so much!!! Tell DH RICHARD thanks! And that old logo shouldn't be too hard to find on the old innernit! ;D
-
SLC was Winder Dairy, which was also a big field trip in probably third or fourth grade.
Did you see any cows? ;D
-
Was it the cow logo or just the red name on the milk boxes?

Did you see any cows? ;D
Only if you're referring to nice Mormon women in those little paper hairnets. :)

-And, now, I'm flipping between "A Capitol Fourth" and the US Olympic Swimming Trials.
Hmm... It does indeed look like Taylor Hicks had had a bit a of grooming and tweezing for his Broadway debut.
I don't suppose that includes some lipo and a serious butt tuck, does it? He could USE those.
-
Now I'm flipping between the Boston Pops and the rebroadcast of A Capitol Fourth.
-
Hucka Bejeepers!
-
We just had a "Happy 4th" phone call from DS Rob, who was watching fireworks from the shore of Grand Traverse Bay, Michigan.
-
Well, we're off to Adair's, who will have a front row seat of the Ft. Vancouver fireworks from her Columbia River townhome. Of course, I am prepared to be regaled with stories (and pictures) of her new best friend, Burt. ;)
-
Bacharach?
The trees are obscuring my VIEW of the Mooresville Fireworks!
-
Back from a delightfully delightful partay and I have photographs to proove it - which I'll try to post a little later. I ate one bite of excellent jambalaya, and then stopped. I'm sauteeing some chicken, mushrooms and onions now - that's what I had a hankerin' for.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page nine.
-
Well... I've re-packed my bags, cleaned out the fridge, completed the online check-in process, and set my alarms. And now I'm going to try to get a few hours of sleep before those alarms go off. So...
Goodnight.
-
Sleep well, DR Jose, and have a smooth trip tomorrow. You'll be enroute before I wake up, probably.
-
The illegal portion of our fireworks show is slowing beginning, even though it isn't even close to being dark here. Then at 10:30 we have the big City Fireworks, and then, as a finale, the neighbors will continue to blow their heads off lighting more illegal fireworks until around 2:00. Happy Fourth of July!
I think I will go into the bedroom and watch INDEPENDENCE DAY.
-
Lots o' those unofficial fireworks in our neighborhood, too, DR TCB.
-
Our local Olympic hopeful, runner Jeff See, has advanced to the semi-finals and I'm going to try to stay up to watch on USA from 11pm-1am.
-
Enjoyed my rather unpredictable night of viewing.
I started with something very predictable, what I had planned to watch: '1776.'
Words can't describe how wonderful I think this play is, and I'm so grateful to have this faithful movie version of the show as a keepsake. Yes, I'd love to see an HD transfer of it somewhere/sometime, but I won't hold my breath for that to happen.
-
Next, I decided I'd try something different in regard to a review copy. I started with disc 2 of a film I've never seen before and started watching the "making of" features before seeing the actual film. I'm not sure I'll ever do it again, especially for something as unusual as MISHIMA, but what's done is done now.
I watched two documentaries which combined ran over an hour. The next thing is a 40 minute audio interview with the sister of law of director Paul Schrader who wrote the Japanese script for the film (though she got no on-screen credit). I started that interview, but when I saw how long it was going to run, I turned it off and will pick back up with it tomorrow.
-
I concluded the evening by watching the wrenching "Ruby" episode of THE CLOSER from the third season box set. What a GREAT makeup job they did on the suspect in this episode.

TOmorrow, I plan to watch MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST while I cook and eat lunch, and then I'll spend most of the rest of the day with MISHIMA.
-
Arrgghhh! The top 6 in the 1500m will advance to the finals and our local hopeful finished 7th.
-
I have some computer operations to perform, and then I'm heading down to bed.
Good night!

I have '1776' cued up in the player ready to go when I go back down in a little while. I'm looking forward to seeing it upconverted on my TV since this will be the first time I've watched since getting this new TV back in September.
I'm back from my sister's house (I've actually been home for about an hour, now). The whole family gathered (plus a couple of friends of my parents') and had various hot dog types, chicken fingers, salads, sangria (for some) and homemade strawberry shortcake.
-
While eating, we listened to the soundtrack of "1776" that I made from the extended 176 minute laserdisc version of the movie. It's not the entire movie soundtrack, just the songs with snippets of dialogue. I think that it's better than the offically released (and never on CD) soundtrack, but that's just me. ;)
-
Anyway, I don't know why I didn't do this sooner, but I'm going to make a DVD of the extended 176 minute laserdisc version of the movie. I know that not all of the footage is in pristine condition, but it doesn't matter to me. So that's what I'm watching now. :)
-
Anyway, for this laserdisc, they created an overture. I don't remember if they kept that for the official DVD release, but I really like it.

I'm just curious, does anyone else have the London cast recording to 1776? The one time I went to New York, I went to...the record store that charges SO much for things and then doesn't pay BK for the CDs of his that they sell. ::) Anyway, I paid way too much for it, but I've never seen it anywhere...not even on eBay (when I've looked). So, it was probably worth it.
-
MORE FIREWORKS!!!
Those are great pictures, Cilla! :D
-
I had the London 1776 once upon a time.
-
Fireworks are exploding loudly, but it's just too muggy and disgusting outside.
-
Time to Nun-proof the condo :)

That's all upstairs...the downstairs has always been nun-proof.
;)

Light the sparklers!

No. But I would like to! ;)
-
Too foggy in San Francisco to view any fireworks. :(
-
I am not able to take wonderful photos of fireworks like AJ can, but I thought I would share this photo with you all. The children are refugees from the Congo who came to the US last year. They had never seen fireworks before:

No. But I would like to! ;)
Hmm...maybe...someday.
;D
-
Well, it's 9:45 p.m. in the Pacific NW and I can hear the local fireworks going off. The big display in Vancouver, Washington, will be televised but I'm recording it because I know me and I'll fall asleep. I'm also recording Macy's and another one, I forget which one now. So I'll watch tomorrow.
Grandma (me) is getting old! :) Nightie, night!

Sure doesn't feel like a Friday night, does it?

My chicken dish was quite yummilicious - I had a bagel with it and it was a perfect meal.

What, me worry?
-
I just went down to my garage to look for my CD of the soundtrack to the laserdisc version of "1776" that I made and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a black thing run out from under the shelves to under the wooden pallets that I put all my boxes on! :o I don't know what it was but I don't want to know! (a Dear World reference ;))
-
I don't know what it was but I don't want to know!
Oh, but you do. If it was a member of the rodent family it will delight in chewing up cardboard, and devoring CD and DVD cases! And trust me, it won't just leave you alone.
On the other hand, a nice black snake or a cuddly spider would be OK

Nah, just relax, post a little more than average and you'll break 40,000 before Aug starts.

I wonder if I'll achieve forty thousand by August.

I have never heard of anyone in this condo complex having mice, but I've seen some fairly big and fast spiders. :P I am pretty sure that it was a spider...I hope. :-\

"Mama Look Sharp" just started...it's, of course, sung by Stephen Nathan as the Courier. He went on to play Harry Schechter in BK's very own "The First Nudie Musical"! ;D

What a comedown - from Jesus to Schechter.
He has finally found redemption in producing BONES.

Did you find the CD? How did it turn out?

I found the CD very easily. It was in a box that I indicated had some of my musical theater CDs. :)

I think that I did a good job of adding just enough dialogue so that you sort of know what's going on, but not so much dialogue that you think it's too much. Fortunately, the parts of the movie that were added, the not-in-pristine-condition extra scenes all sound very good, so there isn't any difference (or not enough that I noticed) between the original parts and the new.
