Well, you've read the notes, the notes were eternal and had hope, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they will just as soon as hope springs them.

It's actually just past my bedtime. The day was mild, but tomorrow will be hot...and it's going heat up considerably over the next few days as a high pressure system centers itself over the Bay Area and prevents the fog from rolling in.

I have been off the board almost twenty-four hours (due to a loss of power). So nice to be missed.
-
Yes, a terrific storm blew through here yesterday afternoon around 2:30 with nickel-sized hail and strong winds (tornadoes elsewhere in the area). A downed tree three blocks away fell on a power line that cut power to the entire section of Charlotte with about 3,800 folks without power until about 6:45 this morning.
Needless to say, I was drying a load of clothes, watching JAKE AND THE FATMAN, etc. and my day was then completely disrupted. I went to bed at 10 p.m. last night, the first time that has happened in a long, long time.
-
I did manage yesterday to watch another episode of THE CLOSER from the set. This was the one with Francis Capra as the soon-to-be gang member as two gang killings were investigated. Such a sad story.
-
I began JAKE AND THE FATMAN yesterday. The first episode had one of today's J.R.'s - John Rubenstein - and Robert Reed in a story that had some similarities to the movie NO WAY OUT.
-
The second episode was actually the two hour pilot episode which featured Anne Francis as a nightclub singer.
There has always been talk of Streisand having some of her scenes removed from the release print of FUNNY GIRL, but honestly, the woman CANNOT sing, so if that footage contained any singing, it DESERVEDLY should have been removed.
-
I finished that pilot episode this morning (only got about 40 minutes in yesterday before the storm struck). There was a different bulldog pet for William Conrad in the pilot than in the actual series episodes.
Joe Penny is VERY attractive.
-
I'm very frustrated with certain members of my family right now. There was a party that was a surprise party for my dad's birthday, only I was told it was just a solstice party. Since I'm busy and it requires spending the night, paying a cat sitter etc, I didn't go. I found out over the weekend that the other guests received handwritten invitations to a surprise party for my dad. So, I wasn't at my dad's birthday party.
I was surprised after the party that I received emails from some other people who were there telling me I was missed etc. Saying I'm upset is really putting it mildly. It's the last straw for me and I was able to tell my brother that this morning.
He said it was a last minute thing....Right, and that's why everyone else got hand written invitations in advance and I got an email 2 days before.
I really don't need this kind of aggravation right now.
-
I hiked around the mountain. Slowly. Very slowly.
-
I also watched the third episode (the last on disc one), an episode with a hit woman who lures Jake's partner into an engagement and then kills him. Penny has a really standout episode in this one as he shows great sensitivity to the murder of his friend and anger when he finds out it was his fiance who did it.
The shows are not well written (MATLOCK folks doing the writing). Conrad's D.A. arrives at conclusions by intuition rather than by the suspects tripping themselves up (a la COLUMBO).
I also am at a loss as to why they allowed Conrad to appear so grizzled looking for the D.A. of Los Angeles. He's often unshaven and slouchy looking and that also seems a bit off.
The show ran five years (though during those five years, the character was moved to Hawaii and back, was a private investigator for awhile, and then became D.A. again.)
-
And just in case DR Megan checks in today, I believe this is her first wedding anniversary!
Happy Anniversary, DR Megan and her DH!!

I really loved your pictures, DR Singdaw. You and Jayson look very happy, and I couldn't be more thrilled for the both of you.

Isn't Jerry Rivers the real name of Geraldo Rivera?
Technically, no. His real name is Gerald Rivera. His mother is Jewish, his father Puerto Rican. It's his father's side of the family that dubbed him Geraldo, and when his television reporting career started, the station manager wanted the more ethnic sound, so the name stuck.
From what I can tell, it was his former father-in-law, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., who started the urban legend about the name change. Sounds like something Vonnegut would do, just to be spiteful.
However, since the name is part of urban legend, I'm including it on the list.
(If Melissa Rivers married Geraldo Rivera, she'd be Melissa Rivers Rivera. ::))

DR Cillaliz, That is so weird! The last birthday party for my dad before he passed away was the exact same way for me as well! And my sister! The only reason I found out was that it was a Sunday afternoon and we usually went to see him on Sunday's after church. We showed up and all these people were there (family) only for us to discover it was a surprise birthday party that no one told us about. I empathize exactly! You have ever reason to be righteously angry! >:( I'm angry for you too!

Loved the photos from DR SINGDAW and JAYSON's special day!!!
And the new avatar that came with them.
-
Late to the party, I forgot it was INITIAL GAME DAY......
Reading all of the posts yesterday....I hope it will not come as a shock to so many of the DR's here at HHW that there is NO such thing as a left sock.
-
DR SINGDAW, thanks for including me in the JR's, and of course DR MBARNUM chose the guy I still swear I was named after!
-
bk, yes, the Sondheim Review Primrose review was very positive. It did mention you and Kritzerland, and even some of your previous recordings of obscure Sondheim. I'm sorry I can't recall from my brief glance this morning whilst shaving whether they included an actual link or address to Kritzerland.
The article/review ended with a sentence something like, "...a MUST purchase for any Sondheim fan." :)

Does anyone still wear ... a hat? I don't even remember making this movie! ;D

I have decided as of this day to not frequent those two theater boards. They are so filled with bitter people, people with agendas, and drooling teens that it's a waste of time. I should have done this ages ago, as there are a couple of people on each of them who use their anonymity to behave like absolute cretins to me personally and, you know, who needs it. I think it's why Marc Shaiman now doesn't post at either place unless someone alerts him there's something that needs to be corrected or some stupidity he has to go after. He was quite a regular on both boards for quite a time, until he figured out how pointless it all was and how agenda-laden it all was.
-
As Martin Mull has said, "The trouble with jogging is that the ice falls out of your glass."
-
Good reason to leave, BK.
-
The thing that precipitated this was the usual jerk, ryhog, and his usual twisting of my words and making them sound like something they weren't - this is his m.o. - he takes a specific comment and turns it into a generalization. He can't stay away from me - he's a Woman Obsessed, and it's just tiresome.
-
Jimmie Rogers, the other folksingers...
-
Martin Mull
I miss DR td! 8)
-
I agree with you about those theatre boards, bk.
I just wish there was a way to glean the information that can be learned there [new releases, etc.] without wading through all the muck.
-
I'll leave it to others to pass on any interesting info - because all I see there is the muck. They're both awful boards, but for different reasons.
-
Johnny Rivers - he of Secret Agent Man.
-
Jean Renoir - director.
-
Jacques Rivette - director
-
Jean Rabier - the cameraman of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
-
Jamie Ross - actor, and one of the stars of Oh, Coward!
-
Jamie Rose - actress.
-
James Remar - actor.
-
Joe Roth - producer (and, I think, head of 20th Century Fox for a time).

There was a board where der Brucer and I used to post, but we both left some time ago. Der Brucer was posting under an alias, and when he was finally uncovered (as my partner) a whole bunch of people assumed that anything he said was something I had said, and vice versa, and they got quite nasty about it.
Now, I'll admit, we are quite alike in our thinking. After twenty-three years, we've rubbed off on one another. And we kinda, sorta look like each other. (I had a new cashier ask me recently "Where's your brother?") But we are not the same person. In fact, the reason der B was posting under the alias was to separate the two of us, to keep us as individuals.
But a group of male bitches unkind people simply would not let der B's aliasness go, and got quite vindictive about it. We finally had to abandon the site. The people who we cared about all knew we had migrated to here, and some of them migrated here for a short time as well. Life goes on.
-
Welcome fourteen GUESTS.
-
Jeff Rizzo - musical director.
-
Jeffrey Rockwell - musical theater performer, especially here in LA.
-

-
Jeannette Rankin, first woman to be elected to the US House of Representatives.
-

Jeff Ruby (http://www.jeffruby.com), Cincinnati restaurateur
-
Der Brucer and I have been to Cincinnati. We have eaten in Cincinnati. Our luck was, shall we say, unfortunate.
That anyone would proudly proclaim to be a restaurateur in Cincinnati boggles. Yes, it boggles.
;)
-
Actually, that pic of the salad with the cucumber slice wrapped around it looks mighty nice. (I do love me some good food porn. ;D)
But Beer Can Chicken at $22.95? :o And they probably don't let you keep the beer can!
-
Jessica Rabbit.
:D

Jerry-Rigged ;)

I do hope they put the kritzerland link in that review. It would be most annoying if they didn't, because however would people know to order it, other than perhaps going to footlight.com. If they google it they'll find us. We have had about twenty orders in the last few days - maybe it's because of the review - early copies of the mag or something.
-
Singer James Ray
-
Soap opera star James Reynolds
-
DR SWW - I have never been to a Jeff Ruby restaurant, because they're too darned expensive! I'd be curious to know where you ate that left you with such a negative opinion of Cincinnati.
-
Janet Russell, cable psychic.
-
Just got an e-mail from Merissa saying she's done and where should we meet. She must be sending from her phone or something. I responded, but why wouldn't she just call? Weird. Guess I'll just wait for a response.
-
I do hope they put the kritzerland link in that review.
I will check when I get home and let you know.
-
Folk Singer Jean Ritchie
-
My latest issue of The Sondheim Review arrived while I was away, and it contains a nice, full-page review of bk's Evening Primrose release.
That should net bk at least a few fresh orders! :)
I totally forgot that I got this also! I hope that I can find it. :-\

And James EARL Ray.

Thanks all for the understanding, elmore, I'd be honored to be your sister. My brother called this morning just as I was leaving to go to work to see if there was any damage from the tornado last night. He hadn't read his email so I had to have the whole discussion with him before I left for work. It really threw my morning off and right now I can't decide if I should get to work or go see Wall-E and get my mind off of everything for awhile.
-
I mean work I'm ambivilent about but Wall-E, never! ;)
-
Off to have a breakfast with Merissa, after which I shall return. Going to Hugo's nearby - they have excellent eggs and such, and I will definitely try to be strong and forego the potatoes and bread. If I can do that, it will be fairly low-cal and then I'll jog later today.
-
I'm very frustrated with certain members of my family right now.
That's terrible, Cilla! :(
-
DR SWW - I have never been to a Jeff Ruby restaurant, because they're too darned expensive! I'd be curious to know where you ate that left you with such a negative opinion of Cincinnati.
Now, let's see...
There was the banquet dinner at the hotel where the convention was being held. Salmon and steak, both on the same plate, both tepid and bland.
I remember going to a diner at some mall, where the mac and cheese had no flavor at all.
There was a Spanish restaurant where a bunch of us went the night after the convention. Again, bland.
And der B and I did try some chile. But it wasn't at a Skyline, which was probably the big mistake.
I'm certain that there are good places to eat in Cincinnati, but der B and I managed to miss each and every one! :'(
-
Janet Reno!

And just in case DR Megan checks in today, I believe this is her first wedding anniversary!
Happy Anniversary, DR Megan and her DH!!

DR SWW - I have only once in my life had good hotel banquet food and that was in Chicago. You and der Brucer will just have to come back sometime and let us take you to some of our favorite places: Montgomery Inn, The Grand Finale, Izzy's, Skyline, and (of course) Graeter's.

Jamie Roy - New York cabaret doyenne

Back from a delightfully delighful breakfast with Merissa. We went to Hugo's and I had Papa's eggs, which are scrambled eggs with some minced sausage. I had no bread and no potatoes, just some fruit, so I was a very good lad, and I shall jog later today, although I'm not sure I should since the temperature is over 100.
-
Is it Jaime Roy or Jaime deRoy?
-
I ran into Karen Morrow, who was lunching with elmore's pal and my pal Larry Blank.
-
Interestingly, no orders for Evening Primrose today - I'm really interested to know about the link, so when singdaw gets home hopefully he'll post.
-
the temperature is over 100.
Is it a dry heat? ;)
-
I'm going to have to remove these theater boards from my favorites, because so far, just out of habit, I've clicked on them - the minute I did so I closed the window. Got to go cold turkey, and I'm betting that after today I will have totally forgotten about them and the handful of jerks who live there.
-
Is it Jaime Roy or Jaime deRoy?
Blast you, blingring, your question forced me to Google, and it is indeed the latter.
-
I ran into Karen Morrow, who was lunching with elmore's pal and my pal Larry Blank.
I hope neither of you were hurt!
She is, indeed, a fine actress.
-
Oops, sorry about the Jamie Roy/deRoy confusion
-
I have the feeling that there are many more J.R.'s we can do. I'm sure Rothman will do his usual end of day wrap up, but I think we can probably get this list much higher by then.
-
I swear, I wasn't looking for this, but while surfing about on other matters, I came across the name
Jonathan Ross, British film critic and, at four and a half million pounds a year, currently the highest paid television personality in Britian.
(Heather Mills probably doesn't like him. He's blasted her as a liar, and has been quoted saying that he "wouldn't be surprised if we found out she's actually got two legs.")
-
Hey, DR FJL, at least you didn't reverse the initials the way I've been known to! ::)
-
Had a nice long lunch which I quite enjoyed after suffering through the trauma of no power for so many hours and overnight. With the neighborhood totally blacked out, I couldn't help but think looters or vandals might think it a prime time to strike.
-
DR Cillaliz that is really terrible not finding out about your dad's party. And it's probably good if you talk to your brother.
Very odd though, if you are on speaking terms, why he would have left you out. Maybe if you know he's like that then just remind other family members to let you know of such things in the future!
-
Jamie Ross was also the name of the character played by Carey Lowell on LAW & ORDER.
-
I watched more episodes of JAKE AND THE FATMAN when I got back home. In the first, Robert Culp was an attorney who killed his ex-wife's new lover and pinned it on her.
The show is structured very much like COLUMBO but without the crackerjack set-ups for the crime and the incidious little slip-ups that bring down the perp.
And what a surprise that Alan Campbell is also the ADA in the show. He looks VERY, very young in these episodes.
-
Not too much on tv tonight.
Will watch Canadian Idol. And the results for How Do i solve a problem like maria.
The latter apparently is ending in 3 weeks when Andrew Lloyd Webber will arrive (hopefully he'll take over from simon lee, the conductor guy who is basically making the decisions now.
Interestingly enough ALW has been on a lot even though he is not here. They had all the girls fly to europe and he spent time with them and reviewed them for us.
Musical theatre night was not really what i was expecting. A song from moulin rouge (although it was diamonds are a girl's best friend). and the song from evita was the one from the movie.
One girl go to do "defying gravity" from WICKED. THAt was neat. And there were songs from CHICAGO, CABARET. A song i didn't even recognize (which they said was from OKLAHOMA).
This was the first week that they really made their favorites known (2 girls go today).
There was 1 they loved (she is just okay for me). Another they really love too. And another 2 they liked.
But they were brutal to the others. John barrowman is quite harsh. Although at least he's confident. It just feels like they are swaying the vote.
-
The second one I watched had Mitchell Anderson as a drug smuggler and high class pimp.
-
Joe Regalbuto - actor, Murphy Brown, etc.
-
I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Luke and Noah were on, but the story was kind of dull. They were not in the previews for tomorrow.
-
Jean-Paul Rappeneau - writer/director, Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) and many other French films.
-
I have been off the board almost twenty-four hours (due to a loss of power). So nice to be missed.
You were. I figured you had gone to a friend's for a little end of the holiday weekend fun. I found it strange you hadn't returned later in the evening. I even deleted my first post to you as the information had changed by then.
Glad all is ok now.

-
Oh, and it's not "Jerome Ragni" of Hair (which is why I didn't include him with James Rado) - it's Gerome Ragni.
-
And the word of the day is: GUSTATORY!
And The Song Of The Day Is: FOOD,GLORIOUS FOOD
-
LOL-I'll have to try and watch it the same night it airs. We watch so many of the shows the following day or two.
-
I had enough time left in the afternoon to watch the first 20 minutes of MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST. A fun show thus far.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page eleven.
-
I decided that the movie therapy was in order and went to Wall-E it was delightful.
On the relative front. I really don't think it was my brother's doing, but he's either taking the blame or was in agreement with it. Either way, I'm just tired of it. I think I'm going to stay home for the holidays this year.

After all the e-mails we sent them, that's sort of reprehensible. I'm glad it's a good review, and hopefully people will either google the title or Kritzerland or buy it from Footlight - there's no other way to get it, so it's going to be one of those or nothing.

A SONDHEIM RARITY
Evening Primrose original soundtrack from 1966 is finally released
Review by Andrew Milner
Few long-running Broadway musicals from the mid-1960s have been as frequently recorded as the Stephen Sondheim/James Goldman 1966 made-for-television musical Evening Primrose. Now, 40 years after its broadcast on the anthology series ABC Stage 67, and with three different versions of the four-song score available on CD, the soundtrack of the original television production starring Anthony Perkins and Charmian Carr has finally received its commercial release.
In 1966, Sondheim and Goldman briefly put aside their development of Follies to work on an adaptation of John Collier's oft-anthologized short story "Evening Primrose," which, like Follies, is set at night in an ostensibly abandoned Manhattan building. The broadcast drew mixed reviews and mediocre Nielsen ratings, but critics have appreciated what the work foreshadowed. The opening song "If You Can Find Me, I'm Here" anticipates Follies' equally defiant "I'm Still Here" (even maintaining several similar rhymes), and the lyric "Take me to a world where I can be alive" presages "Being Alive" from Company, Sondheim's next stage musical.
While the existing Evening Primrose recordings - on Mandy Patinkin's Dress Casual (1990), Sondheim at the Movies (1997) and The Frogs/Evening Primrose (2000) - brought the music to a broader audience, the original telecast itself is rarely seen. Though illegal bootleg copies are known to be in circulation, the only copies publicly available for viewing (in grainy black-and-white kinescope form) are in the archives of the Paley Center for Media in New York and Los Angeles. ABC, in the common practice of 1960s network television, erased the original color videotape production after its broadcast (a five-minute bootleg clip of "Take Me to the World" has been available on YouTube). Sondheim said in a mid-1990s Compuserve chat that a VHS/DVD release was unlikely: "The rights are very tightly controlled by the Collier estate [...which] only gave us the television rights, and I doubt if that includes any kind of public sales of the video." During the 1980s a limited-edition original soundtrack LP was privately produced and distributed among Sondheim's colleagues, with copies selling for as much as $1,500 on Amazon.com's auction Web site.
Kritzerland's Bruce Kimmel, who put together Sondheim at the Movies for Varese Sarabande, oversaw the re-mastering of the television soundtrack. For those familiar with the tinny sounds from the nth-generation video bootlegs, the crisp quality of the soundtrack is invigorating, bringing out the impeccable arrangements by legendary television music director Norman Paris (with assistance from David Shire).
The disc's primary revelation is Perkins' vocal performance. Biorgrapher Charles Winecott wrote of Perkins' Broadway singing in Greenwillow (1960), "He wasn't big enough in his delivery: it simply wasn't in his nature." However, Perkins' thin voice translated much better in the more intimate medium of television and record, and his nervousness serves him extremely well in the role of Charles Snell, a poet who seeks refuge in a department store after hours, the first - and by no means the last - Sondheim hero to consciouslytry to cut himself off from humanity. Perkins' voice breaking in the final verse of "Take Me to the World" is one of the album's emotional high points.
Carr, who played Liesl in the film version of The Sound of Music (which was still in movie theatres when Evening Primrose was broadcast), co-stars as Ella, the lifelong hermit with whom Charles falls in love. If she is not quite the vocal equal of others who have sung the part, such as Bernadette Peters of Theresa McCarthy, she still brings the precise amount of innocence to "I Remember" and "When."
For the first time, Evening Primrose's incidental music has been released. Much of it is simply a recapitulation of the existing songs (i.e., "Take Me to the World" is played over the closing credits), and the climactic chase music sounds somewhat formulaic. But the brief dance music (played during the scene in which Charles and Ella plan to escape), scored for clarinets, is a cousin to Sondheim's incidental music to the 1960 Broadway play Invitation to a March (available on the recording Unsung Sondheim), and the piano underscoring for "You're One of Us" anticipates the music to Stavisky. There's also a charming brief song, previously unreleased, in which Charles memorizes the closing schedule of each deparment in the store to the refrain of "If You Can Find Me, I'm Here."
If an official video release of a crystal-clear Evening Primrose remains a pipe dream for now, Kritzerland's presentation of the original soundtrack is a fulfulling substitute and an obligatory purchase for Sondheim fans.

And a good job, it was! ;D

No, the final season aired during the 2007-2008 TV season. I'll be interested to see if it gets nominated for an Emmy for its final season. It WON the Emmy during its initial season.
-
And now I'm ReALLY going!
;D
-
Jai Rodriguez, star of ZANNA DON'T and one of the five stars of QUEER EYE.
I just read HERE (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/118744.html) that Jai Rodriguez is playing Desi Arnaz:
Four concert stagings of the new musical Dance With Me will be presented in West Hollywood July 10-13 as part of the Festival of New American Musicals.
The musical about the lives of the late Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz will cast "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" host Jai Rodriguez as the Cuban bandleader. Jim J. Bullock, the "Too Close for Comfort" star seen on Broadway in Hairspray, will also be part of the cast. Complete casting will be announced shortly.
When I first read about this, I thought that they had said who was going to play Lucy, but it's not mentioned in this article.

Good Evening!
So... Note too all aspiring singing-actresses, and actress-singers out there: When an audition specifies to pick a song from the 50s and/or 60s, that does NOT include Amy Winehouse!
?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
-Otherwise, it was an OK day. Sort of slow, but paced well.
*And I really don't like playing "Son of a Preacher Man".
-
Singdaw, thank you for posting the review.
Bruce-CONGRATS on the nice review!

...When I first read about this, I thought that they had said who was going to play Lucy, but it's not mentioned in this article.
Oh, I don't know. That Jim J. Bullock is game for just about anything!

-
Oh... And just because a song happens to have that iconic 50s-60s triplet accompaniment does not always mean it's a 50s-60s type song.
-
Now, let's see...
Hmm.. So a hotel, a mall, and not Skline chili.... Well... DU-UH!
;)
-
Oh... And one other thing...
Yes, you can be "older" in real life, but still pass for someone in their teens or twenties. However, there is a difference between "passing" and "denial".
<MEOW>
;D

Who is Amy Winehouse? ??? ??? ???

Nice review - I wonder where one can get the CD?

Ginny and Jane thanks. The movie helped. It was cute. I wouldn't say it was the best movie I've ever seen, but I enjoyed it a lot and am very glad I saw it. I went to the 1:30 PM matinee since I wasn't getting anything done anyway. It was me and some parents with kids. There were many times when I was the only one laughing out loud and times when it was just the adults laughing. It would be fun to see it with a big crowd.

Remember Cilla, you always have family here.

DR Cillaliz - Have you ever considered spending the holidays in NYC?
;)
Yes, actually, I consider it every year and am seriously considering it this year. My parents are coming to Sioux City to take me to dinner (well lunch) for my birthday on Saturday, so I thought I'd casually mention that I'm thinking of going to NYC for the holidays. When do they light the tree? Is that Thanksgiving time?
-
I'll do one for tomovoz: Jimmy Rodgers - great recording artist and singer of Honeycomb.
Actually the singer of HONEYCOMB is Jimmie Rodgers.

Usually the week after.
*Just remember that the holiday rates here in NYC get truly ridiculou$, so book early!

Yes, I know that too. I've been thinking of going sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm going to check rates. I may not go on the actual holiday if I can get a better deal that way.

... back to Joe Penny....
WBBL.
Oh, so many times in my life I would like to have said that.
-
I am cleaning my home environment....it is amazing how dusty this place can get.
-
One of our favorite trips to NYC was when Richard and I flew in on Christmas Day 1982 and came home on New Year's Day 1983. We saw 8 shows in 7 days - boy, was it cold standing in the TKTS line!
-
While cleaning I have also been arranging and alphabetizing my Bollywood DVDs which have been watched....
....it would appear that since my introduction to Bollywood a few years ago, I have watched just around 220 Bollywood films.

I wouldn't be surprised if she had three.

Jim J. Bullock could do the part.

Our hike today turned into dog playtime for Sherlock.
There is a small, very small, waterfall along the trail & we paused there to let a large black Lab catch up to us. The Lab SPLASHED around in the small pool beneath the waterfall while Sherlock hesitantly played with him. I say hesitantly as Sherlock would chase and play when the dog ran out of the pool and into the creek. Sherlock was afraid the water in the pool might be too deep. ;D
Then a merle & white Aussie, named Blue, with blue eyes arrived & joined in the fun. When Blue calmly went all the way into the pool Sherlock finally followed. Shortly after a Shiba Inu (http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/shiba.htm) & his mixed yellow lab sibling arrived & added to the growing chaos. We had the large Lab bouncing all around in the water, Sherlock & the Aussie playing tug of war with sticks & the two other dogs barking & play growling-time to continue on the trail.
While the Lab bounced all around, Sherlock & the Aussie decided to continue playing with sticks. Playing tug of war while moving forward isn’t easy, instead they ran side by side each with one end of the stick in their mouth. Two dogs, 3 blue eyes between them, happily running in unison straight at us as if the stick was a bar running through their mouths connecting them. It was so darn cute and I didn’t have a camera!

Richard Rosenberg does not fit in the parameter of "names that start with J.R."

Actually the hotel rates on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are really pretty good. They just about balance out the other days.
-
Gratuitous Post #400.
Just because. ;)
-
And on that note (G#), I'm off. My Two Aunts (that's got to be the title of something) are coming over to my sister's tonight and she (my sister) wants me to come over and help her with stuff before they (the aunts) arrive. Hopefully, it won't be more furniture moving. :P Pray for Rosemary's baby.
Have a good rest of the evening, all! ;D

And, with this, I'm going to call it a night. I've got dinner to get on the table (yep, running late again), and probably won't be back tonight. Der Brucer will be taking over once he finishes his televiewing.
-
Me too.
'night
-
Now we're WUSSBURGERING at 7:22? I'm having tuna sandwiches for my dinner - low-cal no-fat bread.
-
Many more J.R.'s methinks. Don't let Rothman have them all.
-
Well, as she sings... She ain't going to rehab.
That's a woman singing that?!!
-
I finally got my car back.... it shifts gears and everything!
-
Just watched the search for elle woods or whatever it's called. It's really a bit much.
-

-
Thanks, Vixmom.
I just returned from another teleconference meeting.
-
Joe Raposa should be Joe Raposo, shouldn't it?
-
Just watched the search for elle woods or whatever it's called. It's really a bit much.
<nod>
Although, I think tonight's episode wasn't as "much" as some of the previous ones. I think.

-
I finally got my car back.... it shifts gears and everything!
YAY!
*And did the vixter have to pick up an after-school job in order to help pay the mechanic's bill?
;)
-
James Rebhorn - actor
-
Well, today was a long day for me, and tomorrow will be another long day, so...
Goodnight.
-
Yeah, today was an "I didn't get anything done" day and I can't have any more of those for awhile, so I think I'll get a good night sleep. Night
-
Spent the entire evening with JAKE AND THE FATMAN but I got finished with it. Some pretty good episodes. One was a deliberate steal from NOTORIOUS (Don Stroud was the guest star in that one).
-
Speaking of Jerome Robbins, never ever watch the "King and I" with a broken ankle. It's hard enough to not walk around the house like Yul Brynner in that anyway, but by the time Eliza is crossing the ice in "The Small House of Uncle Thomas," the pain is too much! >:(
-
Certainly I spelled Raposo correctly, at least I think I did.
-
Sandwiches were excellent and filling.
-
Never mind, it's right in the post, just not on the list.
-
Did we already do the bit about the Small House of Ankle Thomas?
-
Hmmm.google seems to find results for both Joe Raposa and Joe Raposo!!!!!!!
-
I learned the truth on page 16
-
The Christmas episode guest starred Joan Darling. A fair episode.
-
Mark Goddard was one of the guest stars in one of the episodes. It was an episode that suggested WAIT UNTIL DARK.
-
I got three more review discs in the mail today: SECRETARY (2002), and two 2008 Blu-ray releases: STEP UP 2 THE STREETS and COLLEGE ROAD TRIP.
-
Joey Ramone of The Ramones.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page sixteen. We got there slowwwwwly, but we got there.
-
Welcome fourteen GUESTS.

Jair Rodriguez

Breaking news: Universal has totally screwed up the new 2 DVD release of Jet Li's Fearless--both DVDs contain the unrated cut and the theatrical cut. The second disc was supposed to have the Director's Cut, which was the only real reason for this re-release.
-
Time to head downstairs to bed.
Good night!
-
Jamie Rocco - choreographer.
-
Listmaker, listmaker
Make me a list
Make it compete
Don't get me pissed
Listmaker, listmaker
Look through the site
And make me a perfect list
There'll be no Pulitzer Prize for those who rhyme "list" with "pissed".

But Woody rides to your rescue by looking it up in Wood's (Sondheim's favorite) and finds it allowable!
Then you should spell it pist!

....I hope it will not come as a shock to so many of the DR's here at HHW that there is NO such thing as a left sock.
That may be true for Indiana farmboys, but us city boys (who were raised to never wear a patterned shirt after 6 PM) are familiar with formal dress socks that have the diamond clocking only on the outward side of the sock:
If you put the socks on the wrong feet, the decoration would not be visible from the side -
So -left sock on left foot, right sock on right foot!

There was a Spanish restaurant where a bunch of us went the night after the convention. Again, bland.
My goat was not bland - it was almost too salty to eat!

The Rothman speaketh the following:
Jimmy Ritz - youngest of The Ritz Brothers.

-
Jackie Rogers, Jr. - Martin Short character
-
Jack Rollins - Woody Allen's manager/producer
-
Jake Rubinowitz - Al Jolson's character in The Jazz Singer.
-
Jack Robin - the stage name of Al Jolson's character in The Jazz Singer.
-
James Randi - magician and physics debunker - known as The Amazing Randi.
-
Jerry Ross - different than the lyricist - this one a TV sitcom writer, Sanford and Son.
-
John Rappoport - comedy writer, The Odd Couple, Laugh-In.
-
J.P. Richardson - The Big Bopper.
-
Jolly Roger - the flag.
-
Junior Riley - Chester A. Riley's son on The Life of Riley.
-
Jose Reyes - Mets all-star this year.
-
John Riggins - all-pro football player.
-
Joe Rudi - Oakland A's World Series hero
-
Jim Ryun - Olympic miler.
-
Jim Rome - ESPN talk show host
-
Jerry Rhome - pro football Quarterback

And that got us to page seventeen.
-
