Well, you've read the notes, the notes said this and that, and now it is time for you to post until the all of the above cows come home.
-
DS Gabe is home.
-
And the word of the day is: CUPIDITY!
-
Well, I see I have the playing field to myself. I could do all 130 something names I've thought of, but I won't be mean. Instead, I'll do ten or twenty of my favorites and a few that I don't think most folks would know.

-
The late Jeff Smith, the Frugal Gourmet. A former housemate of mine in college lived close to him in Tacoma and got to know him...he never "knew" him (if you know what I'm sayin' about Jeff Smith), but he had friends who did. :-\

-
singdaw - I thought that joke was implied :) :) :) Maybe it was too subtle
Umm... There's nothing subtle about Mr. Stryker.
*And for those DRs who may not know about Mr. Stryker, it's probably best to keep it that way. Do Not Google At Work! ;D
-
DS Gabe is home.
I bet you are happy & relieved he is home! Did he have a great time?
-
Hmm... Christian Bale is currently being interviewed on "The Today Show"... And I'm trying to figure out what "accent" he's using(?).

-
Welcome Home, Gabe!
*Did he happen to bring home a shark's tooth for his father? ;)
-
I bet you are happy & relieved he is home!
You hardly even notice the shark bites.
If he wears long sleeves.
-
Umm... There's nothing subtle about Mr. Stryker.
*And for those DRs who may not know about Mr. Stryker, it's probably best to keep it that way. Do Not Google At Work! ;D
I'm not at work yet...googled. Ah, now I understand! ;D
-
I really wanted to start a new search engine called GIGGLE-dot-com or GIGGLES-dot-com - type in a word and it comes up with all the jokes on a certain subject. But someone owns own the giggle and giggles domain names :( Thought about using DOT-NET, but those seem taken, too.
Would I get in trouble with the google folk, anyway, I wonder?
-
Dang, it's already warm here and it is only 5:55 a.m. Ugh!
-
Good morning, all! Oy! Such a morning i've had. The computer's power strip died and so I had to go out and buy a new one. I've received more band parts to be proofed from the copyist and now I'm waiting for him to call me for the corrections.
A friend on the Cast Recording List sent me two CDs of a Chicago Light Opera works production of the Houston Grand Opera version of BABES IN TOYLAND for which I did the musical adaptation. I haven't heard this since around 1991 so it's fun to hear. That production, which the HGO never mentions in its publicity, was intended to be an opera house version of the show, sort of an equivalent to the balletNUTCRACKER, but the rehearsals were a battlefield of competing divas, undermining, backstabbing, and throat cutting, one of my most unpleasant work experiences. Chicago Light Opera Works did the show around 1993 and I got a nice royalty check. I don't think it's been performed since.
Jo Stafford.

Yes, William Eythe was gay according to every source I've ever read about classic Hollywood. He had a very effective role in THE SONG OF BERNADETTE as well as some of the films bk mentioned. Allegedly, he and Lon McCallister were a couple both before and after his very brief and unhappy marriage to Buff Cobb.

The coup de grace to William Eythe's career was when he was arrested for men's room activities on the opening night of Cole Porter's OUT OF THIS WORLD, in which he played Priscilla Gillette's husband. I believe he and she sang "From This moment On" before George Abbott (?) cut the number from the show.

Thus...a moratorium is now in effect on the name "John Scott"!
:D
Uh, no.
Der B and I have added an attribution column to the spreadsheet we work with, which is part of why getting the list up is taking so long. More typing. That plus you guys are fast today!
But this means that throwing in a name to create a moritorium on that name cannot work any more. Someone might come up with another specific John Scott, for example, that falls outside the previously posted parameters. (Don'tcha love alliteration?)
Now, quit distracting me, I'm trying to work here!
-
We are going on some errands - bye for now!
-
Good Afternoon!
And it is looking like it is going to be a "good" afternoon. At least a better one. I just got a call back from "them", and it is looking they will be able to resolve the issue sooner than later. Alas, "sooner" still means a minimum of 3 business days, but that was better than the earlier response of "7 to 10" I got earlier.
-And, yes, I'm being purposely vague. For now. ;)
-
John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt
-
Joshua Slocum - The first man to sail around the world by himself.

Uh, no.
Der B and I have added an attribution column to the spreadsheet we work with, which is part of why getting the list up is taking so long. More typing. That plus you guys are fast today!

My "John Scott" was meant to be an all-inclusive listing for every OTHER John Scott that might be named.
I could "Jim Smith" you into the nut house, but it seems silly. So would be any other "John Scott" submission, IMO.
However, since there are NO rules....
-
Testa and Goldberg previously Broadwayed togethern in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, didn't they?
I believe they did. Although, Mary Testa may have left the show by that time...
Alas, the IBDB does not have any specific dates for Mary Testa's tenure.

-
James Smith, costume designer
-
Jim S. Smith, actor
-
Jim Smith, writer
-
Jim Smith, producer
-
Jerry Slaff - playwright (a fine play called "Peanuts and Cracker Jack")
-
Now...I place a moratorim on myself from listing any more Jim Smiths...and I have about 15 more I could list.
-
DR JoseSPiano - you need to hire a shrew/harpie to do your Accounts Receivable for you! :)
Alas, A/R has nothing to do with this situation. At least not on my end. What I am dealing with is a night manager at the hotel in Florida that somehow improperly billed and charged me for my whole two-week stay even though it was clearly listed as "Bill To Company". -Even though when I checked out, my final bill (at that time) had a zero balance - I didn't even incur any charges for incidentals during my stay. Apparently something happened during the final part of the billing process after I had checked out, and since it can take a few days for charges to be fully processed, well... I had a very rude awakening this morning when I went to check my bank account balance. Very rude. And since I had also written my rent check last week and made a couple of other payments, well... And since I'm heading down to Florida Wednesday morning, well... Lots and lots of phone calls over the past few hours.
-
Jacob Samuelson, the character played by Jon Voight in September Dawn.

Oh DR JoseSPiano, that is truly awful.

Yes, slip of a finger - I fixed it.

Done, long ago.

Now...I place a moratorim on myself from listing any more Jim Smiths...and I have about 15 more I could list.
Yes, I suppose IMDB does come in handy. :o
;)
-
Oh DR JoseSPiano, that is truly awful.
***PROMPT RESOLUTION VIBES*** to you!!!!!!
Thanks, DR singdaw. I'm just glad that I noticed it this morning rather than tomorrow - when it could have been a much worse situation. I'm also glad that I've been taking it easy and laying low the past week. The only money I've spent over the past couple of days has been in cash. At least I still have a MetroCard!
-
WE NEED THE LIST!
-
John Smith, alias frequently used by the Doctor on Doctor Who.
-
I shall now be on my way to a work session, but before I go:

Hopefully no one's done that name, but without a list, who knows anymore. I've got about thirty names here but I'm sure a few of them have been done and I can't go back looking through nine pages.
-
Done, long ago.
I had the good manners not to mention people who duplicated my earlier posts. ;D
-
John Smith, alias frequently used by the Doctor on Doctor Who.
Is this why we have no list?

I shall now be on my way to a work session, but before I go:
Jon Secada
Hopefully no one's done that name, but without a list, who knows anymore. I've got about thirty names here but I'm sure a few of them have been done and I can't go back looking through nine pages.
I don't use "the list." I use the very handy and accurate Search feature.
-
Is this why we have no list?
I was trying to push us to page eleven before posting, since we were almost there.
-
Yes, I suppose IMDB does come in handy. :o
;)
Just as much as any other reference material. I know some post only what they can recall, but many others do not, so if you think every name posted here pops out of folks' minds "at random," I have a bridge across the San Francisco Bay I'd love to sell you.
As always on this forum, total "numbers" is the quest....and any way to attaining those numbers is fair game.
IMDb is not against the "rules", is it? I know how much you love rules.
-
Testa and Goldberg previously Broadwayed togethern in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, didn't they?
Mary was also a regular on Whoopi's tv series.

As per our esteemed BK, in his notes:
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a morning work session, I must do errands, I must jog, I must have a telephonic meeting, and I must have an evening work session. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s everyone’s favorite – The Initials Game™. You know the drill – everyone is on the honor system – no cheating looking things up on the Internet. Just use your noggin’ and you’ll think of plenty of names. Celebrities, sports figures, cartoon characters, character in books, films, and plays – one name per post, please. Today’s initials should keep the game going all the livelong day and right through into the late evening hours – J.S. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let’s see if we can beat our record of close to 250 names – I think we can if we do all of the above.

Hmmm..... Someone needs some Chocolate Pie.

Thank you, DR SWW, for doing that painstaking work.
-
Joey Stefano - adult film star and subject of Charles Isherwood's astonishingly great biography "Wonder Bread and Ecstasy"
-
Thank you, DR SWW, for doing that painstaking work.
You are quite welcome.
In fact, you are all quite welcome.
-
Joey Stefano - adult film star ...
In this case, quite different from a child film star. :o
-
Here's a little more kick, Miss Karen. Feel better? :-*
Much! That's right, DR RonnieP, I get a kick out of you ...
-
Thanks a lot, like he's the only one who does it!
I'm the one who started doing the list, he just takes over when I'm at work.
I tells ya, I just don't get the respect. ::)
Me so sorry -- me love you long time, derWoody, for starting list and keeping list going ...
With the respect you think you don't get ~ derK ;D

Julia Swahala or however the hell her last name is spelled (Saffron on AbFab)
-
John Robbins, another food writer, although since he writes about healthy food he's more the kind of guy DR Jane would read than I would.

Sawalha. (Looking things up to double-check is a good thing.)
-
John Robbins, another food writer, although since he writes about healthy food he's more the kind of guy DR Jane would read than I would.

As per our esteemed BK, in his notes:
I've seen "those rules", DR S. Woody.
However, since our own esteemed BK ignores the one about posting frequency (i.e., waiting until someone else posts a name before posting "another" name), I have not felt obliged to consider any of the rules obligatory.
My bad, I guess....but there either "are" rules that are equally applied to eveyrone, or they are merely advisory and non-obligatory.
Besides, I say again: I don't have the luxury of knowing, in advance, what initials are going to be put into play...and therefore, I cannot cogitate on them pre-initials day and then dole out a slew of names to stun and amaze my friends.
Since I am at work during much of the merriment, I have to do what I can do to add to the numbers.
Do put it to a vote, though, and let me know if you would prefer I don't play this very serious game.
-
That's a J.R., not a J.S.
Sorry, spaced out there. Entering this many data entries can do that.
-
Joe Shmoe - frequently used alternative for John Doe
-
or, if you will, Joe Schmo
-
Jacko Sasquatch (son of Big Foot)
...I'll let the experts on Big Foot debate if he's real or just a character in Big Foot folklore...
-
(That's one entry, just alternative spellings) :)
-
Jennifer Smith - delightful Broadway actress
-
Using the Internet to find names would be a clear violation of the rules.
Using the Internet, or any other resource, to check spellings or to jog a faulty memory that partially remembers something should be permissable, however.
-
I've seen "those rules", DR S. Woody.

Since both are used, I'm including it on the list as separate entries.

SPOILER re: 'DESIGN STAR' on HGTV
Last night's episode of "Design Star"was the last I will watch in the current series. I've been extremely disappointed, week after week, that the abomination known as Tracee has been given a free pass after ample displays of tastelessness, inability to work with others and having no sense of her own bad behavior/attitude. That she left last night was too little, too late.
That Mikey V. was the second one they selected to go home last night was a despicable gesture of condescension to personality at the expense of talent and potential. The two ladies in the final three are the best ones in the competition. I've seen that time and again, but Matt is no competition for them, just as he is not in the league -- and never was -- of Mikey V., D. Paul or Michael.
Mikey V. put far more effort and talent into that kitchen than did Matt, and I don't think it was a level playing field that "forced" the judges to go on "camera appeal" alone.
Tracee proved what I saw from the start: She's seriously limited in talent, people skills and personal responsibility. That they tolerated her for this long says tons about the sad standards the judges have been using.
This current "Design Star", for all intents and purposes, truly sucks. I can only hope for a better one next time.
End SPOILER

The "rulemaker" modified the rule regarding not posting a name until someone else posts another name a few Mondays back. Posting multiple names in a row is now allowed, just as long as it is one name per post.

And I'm so glad that you have had the chance to have a second laugh at my expense by reposting a comment I had reconsidered and withdrawn.

Sorry, I had stepped away to wash some dishes...
What'd I miss?
;)

So...
How about that new "New Yorker" cover?

Thank you, Forum UnderSheriff Jose.

DR JoseSPiano - you need to hire a shrew/harpie to do your Accounts Receivable for you! :)
I could do it as my rep from my agency showed up at my work today and said they didn't think it was a good fit for me after all and to go home! Thanks a bunch, huh? ::)
-
Since both are used, I'm including it on the list as separate entries.
Seda, Joe - (P 11)

It's Jon Seda.

Jane Stern, co-author (with her husband Michael) of a long-running column in Gourmet magazine, and the books Two For the Road and Roadfood (along with several others - those are the two I have in my library).
...Who also authored one of my favorite Young Adult Books, "Friendly Relations".
-And we've discussed this here before with a certain DR, but I not certain which DR that was. ???

I'm sorry -- I didn't mean it as a laugh at you, I thought it was with you since I thought it was a post like its use on a Church Lady skit on SNL, at least that's how I read it, and hence why I thought it was humorous.

As a former manager of a couple of temp services, I can tell you there's nothing more dreaded than the client calling and saying, "Please replace....". Usually you're home free if you make it past the first day QC (Quality Control in temp service lingo) and then end of first week QC calls.

Or maybe the Goldstein girls could pay him a visit with some leftover craft supplies from VBS?

I'm currently having a blast doing big choral arrangements of heavy metal tunes for the upcoming Pops season (the choir that JulieC belongs to). We'll be doing songs you never expected to hear a community choir sing, so I have "Born to Be Wild," "In-a-Gadda-da-Vida", some Green Day, some Soundgarden and others on tap. I had asked JulieC to solo on a lounge piano version of Helter Skelter, which I think would have been LOL hilarious, but she demurred, so I may add that to the choral arrangement list.

DR Kerry is now sporting a fashionable purple cast.
Oh, I'm jealous - all I have is a white anti-embolism stocking.
DR Laura - does the cast enable him to be mobile? Please give him a {gentle} hug and tell him I hope he's on the mend!
-
Back from Grant and comping vocals - we did two of the six songs, mixed the two, and sent them off. Two more this evening, and two on Thursday and we're done.

re: the initials game
I think it should be okay to post a few names in a row. But i personally would prefer it if people (at the beginning of the day) did not post so many in a row.
I find that by the time i log on in the morning there are usually so many pages of posts with most of the names i know.
-
The game should be fun. But the rule from the beginning is the honor system and that you must think of the name and know what the person does and who they are. And I think of the initials prior to posting them - that day. I don't cogitate, I just note people I think of as they come to me - ask Mr. Rothman if I cogitated in the car on our endless versions of this game. The fun of it is to come up with as many as you can without using other resources - to me that's the fun of the game. And people here have come up with a whole slew of names that I could kick myself for not having thought of, most especially Jean Seberg!
-
Are you using Neil Sedaka's album for inspiration?
Pat Boone's. ;D
-
And sometimes I see names here and riff on them - they lead me to another name, which is how I remembered Jamie Lynn Sigler.

-
Juliet Shaw, piano pedagogue and one of the original proponents of the theramin as a solo instrument.
[I studied piano with her, but not the theramin, to my regret! :) ]
With a wave of her hands, she made music!
-
Just had Rik to the doctor - her own surgeon is outa town, so we got in to see an associate. Seems she has pains and numbness (yeah, the worst of both!) running from her left hip down her left leg. Oy. Anyhow, guy confirmed that lotsa nerves had been cut during the scalpel-fest, which is why it hurts and why some of it is numb. Her daughter just came in.
-
Recovery vibes for Keith, DH of DR Jane!

Jezebel Sirene - exotic dancer

Three of the four Criterions did arrive today including MON ONCLE ANTOINE which I watched this afternoon. This was the last film I saw in the class of international cinema I took a couple of decades ago, but I had forgotten a lot about it. Parts of it did come back to me as I was watching including losing the casket in the snow.
-
Josef Sabovcik - figure skater

Der Brucer beat you to this one. :-*
He didn't beat me - he beat Mark Rothman.

The first disc in the set also had a theatrical trailer on it, in English, which I also watched.

Is Julia Sweeney and actress or comedienne or something??

I hope DR Laura has no need to growl today.
I hope DR MBarnum is feeling much better.
Will there be a photo of DR Kerry’s purple cast?

We post villians, and villians can post!
Well, there you have it -- I killed two birds with one stone (even though it doesn't count -- I need to go back and see who beat me to the Stalin punch)...

Oh, I'm jealous - all I have is a white anti-embolism stocking.
;D
DR Ginny, are you hoping for an all clear to return to work or an extension?

Thank you DRs Singdaw & Jennifer. I'm waiting for the doctor's office to call back & let Keith know if he can use lubricating drops for the irritation. Other than that he is very bored.

re: the initials game
I think it should be okay to post a few names in a row. But i personally would prefer it if people (at the beginning of the day) did not post so many in a row.
I find that by the time i log on in the morning there are usually so many pages of posts with most of the names i know.
I agree.
-
Vibes to Tomovoz - sorry for your loss.

DR Cilla-OPENING TRIAL VIBES TOMORROW!
DR JulieC40: May each new day at work be more enjoyable & comfortable.
Thanks Jane, but it's next Tuesday not this Tuesday.
-
derWoody ~ An edit please, when I went back to page 3 to find that it was JMK who beat me to Stalin, I found that DR Mark beat me to the Mormon founder his Smith Mormon "anchor" is I'm sure my Joe Smith, prophet. So delete my Joe Smith. Sorry about that ...
-
Sorry, this is just too much to wade through...I'll come back when the game is over
-
The game should be fun.
I read what you say, but I also read what you wrote just 12-plus minutes into the new day after you'd "randomly picked" the day's initials:
Well, I see I have the playing field to myself. I could do all 130 something names I've thought of, but I won't be mean. Instead, I'll do ten or twenty of my favorites and a few that I don't think most folks would know.
So, if I'm a bit incredulous that you spontaneously knew 130 names, including the number, just moments after starting the game, well....I hope you can see how doubts can occur that the name was predetermined much earlier.
-
...
DR Ginny, are you hoping for an all clear to return to work or an extension?
DR Jane - I'm in kind of a "Que Sera, Sera" mode. While I do miss the hustle and bustle of my normal routine, I still feel kind of like a walking time bomb. If it were just the foot surgery, I'd be fine to work, I think, but this other situation still presents a lot of uncertainty.
We'll know more in about 48 hours.
-
So very sorry to hear about Magnus.
[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[/move]
-
Awww, I'm so sorry, Tomovoz. :(
-
Yep, derWoody, I just looked it up and the Joe Smith I meant is the Joseph Smith Jr. that DR Mark had already posted -- so a delete is in order.
-
Speedy easy recovery to our Keith
Thanks Penny. He just announced he can already see better, at a distance & in the shadows. His eye is still completely dilated.

Will this go away? It sounds horrible. Did he give her anything to help with the pain?
WISHES FOR THE PAIN TO EASE UP QUICKLY!!!

Thanks Jane, but it's next Tuesday not this Tuesday.
I wish I could have surgery to correct my vision.

WISHES FOR THE PAIN TO EASE UP QUICKLY!!!
Yup - Additional to all the other suffering, she had a horrible reaction to the tape!! Huge red blotches covered in blisters. It's just awful. Hard for her to lie on her back, which is where she is unfortunately confined... oy.
-
Vibes certainly welcome in this house.
I've not checked back today - yesterday our much loved Magnus joined his sister in that great Kennel.
Tom, I'm very sorry to hear about Magnus. :'(

Where are you DR George
Janis Siegel! Manhattan Transfer
AARRGGHH!! I was just about to post this:
And sometimes I see names here and riff on them - they lead me to another name, which is how I remembered Jamie Lynn Sigler.
Jan Siegel - fantasy author - Prospero's Children
Which leads me to Janis Siegel of The Manhattan Transfer! How could I NOT have thought of her earlier??
-
John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.
It's on there. (Go ahead, look it up! ;D)
-
Thank you George. Breakfast time will be odd in a short while. Humans will have to eat all their toast!
Oh.... The humans here are crying. :'(

I just read that BURN NOTICE had its highest ratings ever last Thursday night, a 35% increase from its debut last season. It actually had a higher rating than CBS' SWINGTOWN - that's NETWORK TV!

Yup - Additional to all the other suffering, she had a horrible reaction to the tape!! Huge red blotches covered in blisters. It's just awful. Hard for her to lie on her back, which is where she is unfortunately confined... oy.
DR PennyO - included in my standard answer to "Are you allergic to any medications?" is latex adhesive tape. Paper or cloth tape are OK. Sorry Rikki is having these complications (which can be worse than the actual surgery ::))

I'm going to drop off line for awhile so I can write for a bit. Will go back to continue with the bonus feature disc in the Criterion set.
And then, . . . .THE CLOSER.

-
RLP - since I hate for you to be incredulous, I thought of the initials exactly three hours before posting them.
-
And those names came to me over the course of those three hours - when Rothman and I played the game in the car we could whip off 100 names in thirty minutes.
-
DR Tom ~ Sorry to hear the news -- that is always sad because I know how our pets become members of our families.

Back from a two-mile jog, which has me incredulous.

Siegel, Janis - Manhattan Transfer (P 18)
Woody, it's The Manhattan Transfer. ;)
Years ago, a friend of mine told the story of when he used to work at The Evergreen State College in the communications/public relations department back in the 1980s. A co-worker (not my friend) was designing and drawing (by hand...remember, this is long before computers did much of anything) a poster for some event at the college and the co-worker had at the very top: "Evergreen State College" (no "The"). Their supervisor made the co-worker completely redo the poster. He (the supervisor) said "It's THE Evergreen State College! Leaving off The in 'The Evergreen State College' is like leaving off Yale in 'Yale University'!"
;D

:o Why Jorge!! Are you insinuating that little ol' moi doesn't follow the rules? Well, I never in all my born days ... :'( ...
...where is one of derB's mooning icons when I need it ....
I make absolutely NO insinuations about anyone, at all! Why would you think that my comment is directed at YOU?? Sounds like you're projecting! Do YOU have something to hide?? ;D
:-*
-
Joe Stampley, country singer
-
It is also "The Beatles" DR George. But is is nevertheless common practice to leave off the definite article when filing, listing etc.
Thus The Manahattan Transfer is lister under "M" on Joel's Whitburn's tome. (As I just checked). I also checked THE Beach Boys but just "Bee Gees".. There is so much to discover!
Why am I writing that to a Librarian?
I've had a difficult day.
-
That really was a pathetic attempt to justify the fact that I too left out the "The" when typing "Manhattan Transfer".
-
I make absolutely NO insuations about anyone, at all! Why would you think that my comment is directed at YOU?? Sounds like you're projecting! Do YOU have something to hide?? ;D

LOL! How much do I owe ya for the session, Dr. Freud?

Time to face breakfast sans Magnus.

{{{{{DR Tommy}}}}
I am so sorry!

On a happier note, I just got an inquiry from a NYMF show; I was referred by Michael Cassara, the casting director for NYMF. The director of the show has a great string of credentials and she's sent me sound files of the score, which I like very much, so we'll see.
I think we're talking later tonight.
-
Tomovoz asked me to post this photo of his and Colin's beloved baby, Magnus, who passed away today.

An amazing array of names. I think when I post Rothman's sports figures we'll close in on 300 - I still think there are more to come - and probably some that we'll each kick ourselves for not thinking of.
-
Joseph Stein - librettist for Fiddler On The Roof - another one I had but thought someone had already done - and the list wasn't yet done when I left so I didn't do it.
I got this one on page 4 but it seems to have missed the list up to page 15.
-
Much love to Tomovoz and family from all of us
-
Jeff Simon, NBC Sports director, former boyfriend of DS Betsy, and current cousin of *J*erry *S*einfeld's close personal friend, Jason Alexander. :)

Condolences, Tom & Colin!

On a happier note, I just got an inquiry from a NYMF show; I was referred by Michael Cassara, the casting director for NYMF. The director of the show has a great string of credentials and she's sent me sound files of the score, which I like very much, so we'll see.
I think we're talking later tonight.
Congrats and great news! :D

RLP - since I hate for you to be incredulous, I thought of the initials exactly three hours before posting them.
Consider my incredulity significantly abated.... ;)

DR Tomovoz - we all grieve along with you and DP Colin. All the more difficult having so recently lost Fosca. My heart goes out to you both.

But not, unfortunately, rebated. :)

Put it on my account, please.

Oh, Tom I am so sorry. :'(

I really like this score! :D

Where in tarnation is DR JRand today...his being gone is the only reason I had to do John Saxon earlier.
-
I really like this score! :D
Me, too!
-
I got this one on page 4 but it seems to have missed the list up to page 15.
I thought you had!
-
I wonder if the show elmore got a call about is the one I met with the two writers about last week - it, too, has a female director with a lot of credentials, most of them as an assistant director.
-
Welcome ten GUESTS.
-
Another Rothman: "Texas" John Slaughter - a character from some Disney TV show played by Tom Tryon.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page twenty.
-
Thank you to DRs Singdaw and MissKaren for the continued vibes. I'm kind of "on hold" until Wednesday afternoon.
-
Sing, I sent you a PM.

Congrats on the call from NYMF, DR Elmore - I knew it was just a matter of time!

What on earth will you do with a Prime Minister?

Re: "Big Brother 10"
There's no doubt in my mind that Renny should leave forthwith. That said, I fear it will be like Sheila on the last BB and Renny will cling on and on and be a shrill harpy while better folks bite the dust.
My next-week's hope is for Jerry to go. He irks the crap out of me.
-
DR George, you just made my year decade! :D
My pleasure. :)
-
Consider me mystified by Miss Karen who, apparently, thinks of me as Dana Carvey's "Church Lady" character on SNL:
"Well....isn't that SPESH-ul!"
Harrumph!
-
I think the pleasure should be all HIS, George!

Thank you all for the NYMF wishes. I like what I've heard of the score, but I don't know anything about the book or what they'll think of me. I have no idea if this is the show that BK had a meeting about, and I must admit there were several other shows on the NYMF schedule I would be interested in making an application:
BONNIE AND CLYDE
Musical versions of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM
A couple of others looked good as well, I just can't remember titles.

... I don't know anything about the book or what they'll think of me
Will they like me when we meet?
Will the shy and quiet man they're going to see
Be the man that they've imagined me to be?
Will they like me?
Will they like the man they see?
If they don't, will they know enough to know?
That there's more of me than I may always show,
Will they like me?
Will they know that there's a world of love
Waiting to warm them?
How I'm hoping that their eyes and ears
Won't misinform them
Will they like me, who can say?
Oh, this evening seems a million years away
It's insanity to worry so all day
I'll try not to
Will they like me?
They've just got to...
Will they like me?
They've just got to...
;D

Jamie Summers, "The Bionic Woman"!

Good Evening!
Errands accomplished, as well as a bit of reading. Before grabbing the train back uptown from Columbus Circle, I went ahead and sat in Columbus Circle for a couple of minutes and completed a few more chapters of David Sedaris' new book. After finding myself laughing out loud a couple of times - and getting resulting stares from the homeless man lying on the bench across from me - I went ahead and headed back uptown. And here I am.

While I was walking around midtown, I happened to run into my conductor from the Mamma Mia! tour. He was in town today for the special "Mamma Mia!" screening tonight... Which, as it turns out, I was invited to too. However, since I'm playing auditions tomorrow afternoon, I decided to pass on seeing the movie tonight since there was some pre-trip stuff I needed to take care of here. In any case, it was good seeing him again.

Interesting, how one can come up with names...
Whilst perusing a blog (Michael Ruhlman's, to be exact), I glanced over at some of his blog links and, lo and behold, found a listing for
Jonathon Sawyer, Cleveland-based chef.
(Having a roving eye pays off!)
-
Further, in the previously listed Jeffrey Steingarten's It Must Have Been Something I Ate, which I picked up to read before napping, I came across the following:
According to the Pet Food Institute, the first commercial dog food was created in 1860 by an American named James Spratt, who traveled to England to sell lightning rods and stayed to manufacture dog biscuits.

Speaking of the show I LOVE YOU BECAUSE, Stephanie D'Abruzzo reportedly accepted the offer to play the female lead in PLAISIR D'AMOUR, the one-act musical that Skip wrote with Terrence McNally, when it's presented in SUMMER SHORTS 2 at 59E59.

DR Cillaliz (and other DRS) - Is THIS (http://youtube.com/watch?v=w0ffwDYo00Q) what you go through every morning?
;D
-
Can we have a total number, list-wise? I'm off for my second work session with Mr. Geissman. I ate the rest of my tuna pasta salad. And whilst driving I shall endeavor to think of more J.S. names.
-
DR Jose, I've seen that before. Until it gets silly that is pretty much what cats do in the morning. Kittens also attack & bite feet or other parts of the body. ;D
When cats get older, mine anyway, they just snuggled & purred making it almost impossible to get out of bed.
-
Can we have a total number, list-wise?
I think we're currently at 306.

No, Jose. What I get is Buster coming up to my face, washing it, and then slamming his head on my nose to remind me that he likes having his neck scritched.

I love THE CLOSER!
DR FJL, thanks for posting the site. I need to pick a date and buy me some seats
I had a nice talk with the director of the NYMF show and I've just printed out a libretto to read.

Today at lunch, I went to the brand new (just opened yesterday or Saturday, I think) Taco Time to try them out. They're only a couple of miles from where I work. Well...it wasn't a good first impression. :-\ The guy behind the counter didn't place my order correctly (and I didn't figure that out until I bit into my burrito) and it was kind of cold. The tater tots were good, though. I usually try to give new places a couple of chances before I decide to never go back, so we'll see what happens. I don't know when I'll go back, but it won't be very soon.
And that was my lunch report. :)

Just watched THE CLOSER. :D
'night
-
Time for me to leave work.
Until later. :)

-
We, too, enjoyed THE CLOSER :D !
-
Aaaahhhh! We've turned off the AC and opened the windows for the first time in more than a week.
-
I don't think anyone's yet listed Dr. Jack Shephard, of Lost.
Argh! Can't believe I didn't think of it!
-
The bonus disc of MON ONCLE ANTOINE contained two documentaries - one about 45 minutes and the other 82 minutes. What a sad life Claude Jutra had, and he died far too young - age 56.
-
I'm getting way too tired - twice now I've gone all drifty and thought the intials were JR instead of JS.
-
The best bonus, however, was a hilarious short film he co-directed in 1957 called A CHAIRY TALE. A simple movie about a man trying to sit in a chair. Yes, it uses some camera tricks, etc. but it was as funny and inventive as the best of the Chaplin short films.
-
DR S. Woody, you've had your work cut out for you today with all of these names. Thank you SO much for all your efforts in maintaining the lists.
-
While I was waiting for THE CLOSER to come on, I went to TCM On Demand and watched about 30 minutes of THE HARVEY GIRLS. I didn't have quite enough time to watch an episode of BURN NOTICE, but I'll watch one tomorrow while I'm eating lunch.
-
THE CLOSER was wonderful with my dream man Jason O'Mara as the principal guest star (though he actually wasn't in THAT much of the show). I did figure out the identity of the murderer, but I HATED that Bill was saying goodbye to Brenda. I want him to return at some future date! They really have a sizzling, dysfunctional chemistry!
Also glad to see the M.E. who joined the show in the middle of last season back with us this season. I love him, too.
-
I need to quit for the night. I'm back on cart-wrangling duty tomorrow, subbing for a regular who's had his hand operated on (ouch), and need my
beauty rest.
Whether der B picks up where we've left off here, I don't know - he's been watching a marathon of Closer reruns all day, and may be wiped himself. But in any case I should be able to work up the final list before heading to work on the 'morrow.
Hasta.
-
DR S. Woody, you've had your work cut out for you today with all of these names. Thank you SO much for all your efforts in maintaining the lists.
You are all very welcome. :D
-
I ended the evening watching the rerun of BONES, a good episode from this past season. I remember figuring out this murderer's identity before it was revealed, too, when the show first aired.
-
Tomorrow I'll be watching the next of the Criterion discs - Jacques Tati's TRAFIC which I've never seen.
-
"All alone Monday, singing the blues . . . ."
-
I'm late to the game, and only have Joey Stompanato to add. I'll have to catch up backwards...
-
There has suddenly been a huge amount of CLOSER work to appear, so it may be a few days before I can read all of today, but I did see that I missed DR Cillaliz's birthday.
Happy Birthday to you!!!
-
And I don't have the whole story yet but I can tell there is tragedy in the Tomovoz household.
Tom, I am SO sorry...
-
Must---go---to---bed. Eyes too tired to read, and cat on arm, drooling.
Will be back soon with tales of Dive-In Theatre, local productions of URINETOWN, etc..
-
Why is it that everything has safety seals and protection caps (from aspirin to juice and milk), but candy and junk food do not?
-
And glad everyone liked THE CLOSER. Wish us good ratings tomorrow! (I think we're trying to beat 5.6 in metered markets, or something like that...)
-
Nytol! Night, Kerry! Hope you're healing well!
-
Thank you Amy.
The quiet is so loud today.
-
Kerry, you should ask your neighbor to help. She seems pretty good at taking things off.
-
Heading downstairs to bed now.
Good night!
-
Jimmy Smith - Jazz Organist "Walk On The Wild Side".
If it's not on the list, it should be - I did it several pages ago. Ah, someone already pointed it out.
-
Back from work session number two - went very quickly and very well.
-
DR Cillaliz (and other DRS) - Is THIS (http://youtube.com/watch?v=w0ffwDYo00Q) what you go through every morning?
;D
Pretty darn close! As I was playing it Callie and Boo were looking all over for the cat. Boo came down from upstairs to see where the cat was, lol.
-
Well, I'm going to get some sleep. I have another big day of prep tomorrow.
-
I smell roses....lovely....
-
Good Evening!
And... Since I need to be up early - well, early for me...
Goodnight.
;)

Can there possibly be any JS's that have not yet been unearthed? :)
