Well, you've read the notes, the notes were young at heart, and now it is time for you to post until the no longer young cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MEPHITIC!
-
Nobody here but us chickens. And ten GUESTS.

As promised, for those who'd like to preorder before the book is listed at Kritzerland, Murder At The Grove and a special gift bonus can be yours for $24 (less than amazon and other sites will be charging), plus $5.00 for priority shipping. Only the first thirty preorders will come with the special gift bonus - this gift is very different than the other special things I've done - it's actually separate from the book. As always, the paypal address to use is kritzerland at adelphia dot net. Any questions, please e-mail me at the usual address. Copies will, of course, be signed, and preorders will ship before any other orders.

It was very interesting, but in doing the research for the new CD limited edition soundtrack, I was led to a site that had a lot of good and fun information - there was a links section for other sites with information about this particular film, but there were only a couple of links there - and one of them led right back here. Isn't that funny?
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
Make that twelve GUESTS.

Condolences to you and your family, DR DakotaCelt.

Massachusetts sees all the out-of-state money flowing to California, and now they're going to allow out-of-state same-sex couples to get married there, as well. They have had gay marriage for four years, but previously you had to be state residents.

It's a quarter to three in the a-m and I've pre-ordered! :D

And the word of the day is: MEPHITIC!
"Did CHIP EMIT something MEPHITIC?" Mrs. Potts inquired ever so sweetly. "My, my, I suppose I'll just have to put him through the dishwasher again."

See what you could have saved in airfare if you hadn't been so impatient.
What are we to do with these whippersnappers?
-
It's a quarter to three in the a-m and I've pre-ordered! :D
If that was from some other site than this one, then it's more information than I need.

Time to get to work. There is much to be done.
Hasta.

Good morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And a cab to the airport it is. -Thank you, Mr. Snooze Alarm.
-
In the meantime, I'm having breakfast here - a bowl of oatmeal (a.k.a. The Breakfast of Hainsies/Kimlets), and watching the news. A little calm before the proverbial storm of the airport.
-
DR DakotaCelt - My condolences to you and your family.
-
DR Cillaliz - Give 'em heck! -And Breathe... then Breathe again. ;)

And on that note - D-flat (my favorite scale)...
Until Orlando... (or possibly LGA)

THANKS for all the Travel Vibes!

DangerMouse and Baxter never met. DangerMouse was a mid-80s phenomenon and Baxter began clowning around in the late 80s, plus he was on Long Island and DangerMouse traveled around but never to the Isle of Long. He did get to Canton OH to ride in a parade sponsored by the National Football Hall of Fame. He also traveled to other remote U.S. locations to open malls and appear at minor league baseball games but never did Baxter and DangerMouse cross paths.
-
Well, I have a bowl to wash and my boss is returning after 7 days away so there will be meetings and catch ups and all sorts of work-related work. Gotta go.
-
Good Morning, once again.
Greetings from Gate D10 in Terminal B.
They just made an announcement saying that my flight has "lots of families traveling with children... And that they were looking for adults who wouldn't mind moving to an exit row in order to help the families sit together. Lots of shuffling. In any case...
I just got "upgraded" to an Emergency Row Aisle Seat. Ah... Leg room!
*And I was almost tempted to pay for that upgrade when I checked in... Almost. :)
-
And, yes, it does look like there are a lot of children on this flight. And I'm guessing I will be riding with all of them on the Disney Express to "The World" once we reach Orlando.
-
Hmm... Where'd everybody go?
-
-And for some strange reason, the newspaper kiosk only had $1.00's in their drawer for change. No $5's or $10's, just lots of $1's. Of course, everyone was presenting $20's for their purchases... And their credit card reader was not reading... So... At least I have a bunch of singles for tips now. A bunch meaning seventeen.
-
Oooh... The flight is oversold, and they may be looking for volunteers momentarily - they're still waiting to see if anyone is checking up front. I think I could give up a few hours in the Parks for a free round trip ticket, and/or some other compensation. -They're predicting storms all afternoon in Orlando anyway, so... Hmm...
-
And, yes, I am doing a monologue.
-
And here we are....
PAGE TWO!!
-
Where'd everybody go?
They saw you approaching and they cleared out.

singdaw, thanks for the Massachusetts info. We hadn't heard about it.

You're welcome, DR FJL. It was just in the NY Times this morning.
They're saying "We feel it's the right thing to do." I'm sure financial considerations had nothing to do with it. ;)

BK-- I'm no longer young either, but young at heart (most of the time), and luckily we still look marvelous!
You mentioned Wiliam Eythe the other day. He was Lon McAllister's boyfriend, and a picture of them exchanging rings the night before before William Eythe departed for the war caused much consternation. He was better than they gave him the chance to be. I believe Mr. McAllister helped back some of of Mr. Eythe's later efforts. Bill Eythe's last hit was a Cole Porter musical. His reviews weren't great, but he got to introduce, "From This Moment On." I do believe that Cole Porter was smitten with him for awhile. Lon
McAllistester, being the loyal friend to everyone was also loyal to Bill Eythe. He was as nice a guy as he appeared in movies. Lon remained loyal to all hisfriends. We should all have a Lon in our lives.

DR RonP, it's funny but i totally disagree with what you wrote.
Although things did play out slightly differently than what had been reported (since the live feeds had not been turned on when all this happened they were slightly off).
I actually like brian. And although i think he overplayed his hand. I don't necessarily think he would have betrayed jerry. or dan and ollie. I'm glad that jerry was "forced" into nominating brian, and did not do it on his own (like had been mentioned on the spoilers). The one i was impressed with was libra. Such a smart woman (she is the black woman with twins). The one i was totally disappointed in was ollie. He gave his word. He's supposed to be a preacher's son and said he would be honorable. But he's already cozy with april (very cozy). And he totally turned on brian to save his back.I could not believe he did that. I was so not impressed.
I must say i cannot stand renny. Her personality, her shrieky voice. I pray she will go this week! I must read the spoilers to see what is up. But really i cannot stand everything they showed of her.

Good morning, all! The dog in the apartment above me started barking around 10:20 and around 11:15 I went up and knocked on the apartment door because he never barks. I could hear the tv and the dog kept barking but no one answered so I left a note on the door. The dog continued to bark until around 12:15 before it finally calmed down. A some point after 12:30 I dozed off but I slept very poorly.
Today, I believe I have an editorial session with my friend and colleague Curtis, but he's never confirmed a time. He pulled the same thing last week, saying he didn't get my email, so I'm puzzled.
My friend Tara, with whom I worked at Barnes & Noble, has decided to move back to the West Coast after finishing her nursing degree, so tonight I have a farewell dinner with her.

I posted about this a couple of days ago: FROM THIS MOMENT ON was cut from the show out of town. The day of the Broadway opening, William Eythe was arrested by the police for men's room activities. I'm sure that gave the show's PR some major headaches.

I just went to Kritzerland, couldn't find the book to order it! I found the HOLLYWOOD HIGH one, but not the new one.
-
The new book (Murder At the Grove) is not on Kritzerland for a week or two. The only way to pre-order now is to PayPal $$ to bk.
-
On tv at the same time for me tonight:
BIG BROTHER 10
and
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE
-
Good morning!
It was a cool enough night to turn off the A/C and fling open the doors and windows. ENjoyed the fresh air while sleeping for the first time in more than a week.
-
I also talked about William Eythe and Lon McAllister the other day when Eythe's name came up.
-
On TV tonight:
The Season 5 premiere of PROJECT RUNWAY. If I remember correctly, it's on at 9 rather than 10.
-
Today I'll be watching Dreyer's VAMPYR. It will be a first for me, so I'm looking forward to it.
The DVD box set is two discs and also included not only the usual Criterion booklet with stills and essays, but also a paperback book containing the complete screenplay and also CARMILLA by Sheridan Le Fanu.
-
I have a question. It's a bit personal, but since folks do talk about their health here, I figure it's OK.
Who here has had your appendix removed at some point in your life?
I haven't. In fact, the only operation I've ever had (so far) was at age five having my tonsils removed.
-
Just pre ordered the NEW BOOK.
WOW...DRJOSE is hobknobbing with SEE-Lebrities again!
-
Wednesday morning greetings! We're havin' a heat wave here in SW Ohio - and an air pollution alert, too :P
Today is the doctor's appointment at which we'll discuss this "new normal," and how soon I can go back to work. I did discover last night that I can get a slipper on my left foot and could probably wear other adjustable shoes, too, if not for the swelling. Don't know if that's due to the surgery or the circulatory issues or a little of both. My surgeon would probably blame the blood clots and my primary care physician would probably blame the surgery ::).
-
DR MattH - I still have my appendix and am like to keep it unless there's an emergency. The phrase "elective surgery" is no longer part of my vocabulary.
-
the only operation I've ever had (so far) was at age five having my tonsils removed.
DITTO!! :)
-
DR JRand and other will find this of interest.
On November 11, Disney is issuing its next selection of Disney tins. The last collection of Donald Duck shorts and DR. SYN ALIAS THE SCRECROW are currently on the agenda.
DESTINO was also slated to be released but was canceled some weeks ago. Today, I learned that DESTINO will be replaced by a box dedicated to Annette! It hasn't yet been released what the contents of the box are going to be but surely the ANNETTE serial from the MICKEY MOUSE CLUB is likely to be included and also other appearances by the popular star during her Disney years.
Now I'll be buying all three Disney tins in November!
-
Guess I'll head down now to check the mail and then get started on fixing some lunch.

BB10 Spoiler...................
DR Ron Pulliam, my take on Steve is that he is laying low so as to keep out of the way while the debris hits the fan, as it has been doing…a good move, and it keeps him from being a target when the group is focused on others in the house...at this point no one is paying attention to him…however, he will eventually need to step things up so as not to look like he is not playing the game, which is one of the lame excuses BB contestants seem to give when deciding who to vote out.
Yes, this is going to be a fun season, and it was great to see Brian get his comeuppance! Hee, hee, hee. Talk about being full of oneself!
DR Jennifer, I think Ollie did what he had to do to save his behind...and in this game, sometimes that is what you have to do. like it or not. He isn't playing so that Dan and Brian can win, he is playing so that he can win...of course if Dan and Brian stay in the game...well, then what Ollie did might not have been such a good move. But I suspect that Brian will be leaving. Brian could have been a really good player, but he wasn't secretive about what he was doing...so that made him a really bad player.
I am glad Jessie is staying because he is very nice to look at! He also reminds me that I need to get to the gym.

It's a shame when things like that happen, and in interviews later, Lon McCallister would not betray any loyalties-- and he could have. Considering he was retired and owned half of Malibu and still kept all his friends (you can see them in his house used for location in the remake of "Best Friends" with Candice Bergen and jackie Bissett - and a stunning Matt Lattanzi) What a friend indeed.

bk ~ I was wondering about how the LA musical festival went as a whole -- so I guess I need to break it down into several questions:
1. What's the word from the LA musical festival folks -- how did it go? Wasn't it the first year for it? Will it continue? What came out of it for them? I followed what happened with The Brain through your posts, but I wasn't sure how it went for the other shows. How did it go having shows spread out so wide and far across the LA area? Did you get to see any other shows in it?
2. Haven't read much about the festival as a whole. Is there a home website for them that has the info like NYMF has? I couldn't get a feel for how all of it was going to work, and how they pulled it off.
I know that's a bunch of questions disguised as two, but I was just trying to clarify what I'm trying to find out: the scoop, you know like what's the set up for this festival as compared to NYMF, what's the intent, what worked, what didn't, will it continue, etc., etc., etc.
(and if all of this was covered by you while I've been so E and T, just tell me to check the archives)

Regarding "smart" dog posts from yesterday (cucumber as a walk alias made me LOL!). They are funny little critters that catch on quickly. I don't know why we avoid the "walk" word, bacause the gig is up as soon as I go grab my walking shoes and socks -- he starts talking to me -- and then the leash gets him going. Then the times we're leaving town, putting stacks of clothes on the bed, and bringing up a suitcase, are signs that he knows he's getting a trip to the Doggy Dude Ranch, which he loves to go to.
-
Speaking of cucumbers, past due again. Let's see if I can sneak in there and get my shoes before he sees me ...
-
Yes, at the sound of the jangling leash, Bosco starts doing his doggie dance! It makes me laugh every time!

(and if all of this was covered by you while I've been so E and T, just tell me to check the archives)
For us, the LA Festival was a success - the show did well, selling out most performances, we got virtually all excellent reviews, etc. I'm not really sure how any of the other shows were or did, but remember part of the thing that's unique to this festival, I think, is that the venues decided which of the shows they wanted to do and paid for the show themselves, usually making it part of their normal season. I saw no other Festival full productions, but did see one of the readings, which I wrote about.
They do have a website, I'm just not sure what it's called, but google probably has it. I think the idea of the Festival is great, and I like the idea that the writers don't pay to produce their own show. That part is much better than NYMF. Areas for improvement certainly would include publicity - the LA Times ignored most of the festival for reasons that were rather silly (they didn't like that there weren't "commissioned" shows). And my biggest change, if they want my opinion, would be not to have it so spread out and over so long a time. That was the biggest problem - no one's going to keep publicizing a Festival that occurs over a three-month period. That's where NYMF gets it right - three or four weeks, and very concentrated in terms of area. The LA Fest, for example, had no one place where you could buy tix to all the shows - I'm sure it would have been complicated to do that, but I think it's absolutely necessary because without it it doesn't seem like a connected Festival - it seems scattershot.
I know they've professed an interest in hearing my thoughts, so hopefully I'll have a meeting with them. I think it can be a great thing for LA but they need to rethink having it so spread out, location-wise, and really keeping it to LA and environs instead of San Diego to Santa Barbara. They're just starting to look at next year, and I think with some changes it can be great for everyone.
-
I'm not sure I'll jog before the meeting, even though I was hoping to. I've shaved and if I got out of here by 10:15 I'd be fine, so we'll see.

And even more spoilage....
I thoroughly agree with you, Mike. Brian was way too full of himself...promising each person he could "save" them for one week up to three weeks. I kept wondering how stupid these people could be to listen to him pontificate as though he were in control. And he even SAID he was controlling the game because Jerry did whatever he told him to. Brian is a PUTZ! DR Jennifer -- if that's the kind of player you like, then you are welcome to him. I think even Dan woke up and smelled the coffee last night. Brian created an alliance, yes, but he was manipulating his alliance members and that's never cool.
They'd be truly stupid if they didn't evict him this week. TRULY stupid. Of course, that's what I thought each week Dr. Will didn't get voted out. I hope this group is Big-Brother SMART and realizes what needs to be done.
End spoilage.....

Good Afternoon!
Greetings from Disneyworld!!!!
:)
-
The trip down was relatively uneventful, if not that quiet. There was a family a few rows behind me: mother, father, 5-year old son, 4-year old son, 3-year old TWINS! Needless to say, as soon as the "Fasten Seatbelt" sign was turned off, the poor mother was up and about and digging out various toys, snacks and video games to keep her boys happy and less "yell-y".
We did have to wait about 40 minutes before we actually took off, but we only landed about 10 minutes later than scheduled, so, not too bad. I did enjoy the extra leg room, and I got a bunch of reading done on the plane too.
My friend, Jonathan, who is also the coordinator of this whole shebang, was able to meet me at the airport, and we stopped for lunch at Panera before heading to the All-Star Resorts complex. They were able to provide me with a free(!) Park Hopper pass for the day, and I think I really am going to try to make all four Parks somehow over the next couple of hours. The Disney Hollywood Studios (formerly known as the Disney-MGM Studios) are open until 1:00am, so I think I'm going to head over there after the fireworks at Epcot, and stand in line for the Tower of Terror and the Rock'N'Roll Rollercoaster - which has never been open on any of my previous visits?!?!!? It better be working today.
It does look like it's going to rain this afternoon, but I have an umbrella. And I'd rather be caught in the rain down here in Disneyworld than almost anywhere else. ;)
-
Thanks again for all the Travel Vibes.
-
DR elmore - I hope all is well with your upstairs neighbor. -And have a fond farewell dinner tonight with your friend.
-
DR singdaw - Celebrities? I ain't gonna be playin' for no stinkin' celebrities on this cruise. -Now, if I was sailing up the New England Coast with Rosie O'Donnell this week, well, that would be a different story.
-However, Angela Lansbury does provide the narration for "The Golden Mickeys". :)
-
OK... Time for me to board the shuttle to the Parks...

Well, my medical leave has been extended a week - returning to work on July 28 - mostly because I've now been given the go-ahead to be more active and need to regain some strength. The folks at work have been most accommodating and I think another week will make a huge difference.
Thank you for all the vibes, and, yes, DR Singdaw, it turned out exactly the way I wanted!
-
The new book (Murder At the Grove) is not on Kritzerland for a week or two. The only way to pre-order now is to PayPal $$ to bk.
Oy! I'm ordering two books so I guess I'll wait.
-
Ginny, were the blood clots in the same leg that the surgery was on?
-
I never had my appendix OR my tonsils removed.
DR Ron Pulliam may not have chocolate pie or lemon tarts, but he has all his bits still intact! :D
-
elmore drop me an e and I'll tell you what to do.
-
We've had three count them three preorders from folks here, and an additional three from elsewhere.
-
Amazing bird shot, DearReaderLaura DR!! :)
-
elmore drop me an e and I'll tell you what to do.
You put your right hand it,
You put your right hand out...
;)
-
So what did the aliens who abducted you when you were a teenager remove?
I suspect they just probed him and sent him on his way once they realized the lights were on and no one was home.
-
DR JoseSPiano - sounds like you're in a great situation and you should have loads of fun.
-
That's great to hear, DR Ginny! I suspect you're right; the extra days should make a great deal of difference. Glad work isn't being a pill about it.
-
I suspect they just probed him and sent him on his way once they realized the lights were on and no one was home.
Once he started yammering about Bollywood, the experiment was over.
-
Ginny, were the blood clots in the same leg that the surgery was on?
Yes, DR Laura, and I'm not sure they hadn't been there beforehand - but that's neither here nor there at this point.
-

In the words of our HR director, "Get Strong!"
-
I watched another BURN NOTICE this afternoon. This was the superb one with Lucy Lawless as a supposed victim until we learn something else about her. Great episode, one of the most exciting of the entire series thus far.
-
Then I watched VAMPYR. Primitive sound, and the film, once thought lost, has been pieced together from prints around the world, but here it is.
Strange, eerie, disconcerting for sure, and the least "vampish" vampire movie ever. Still effective, though, in establishing a shadowy, sinister world with lots of evil and resolving it by the end.
-
Then, I watched it all the way through again (it's only 73 minutes) listening to the very expert commentary by Tony Rayns. Noticed quite a few things the second time around that I either missed or didn't note the first time through.
-
There are three (what appear to be) lengthy bonus features on the second disc in the set so I'm guessing those and PROJECT RUNWAY will constitute my evening's entertainment.
-
Page Five Nikko Dance!!!
-
Ginny, your experience was my justification for not staying off my foot.
-
DR DakotaCelt, thank you.
Are you shocked your co-worker is voting for the candidate or that she thinks the candidate is sexy?
Condolences on the loss of your uncle.
-
DR Cillaliz. re: your family emailing you garbage.
Every time one of them sends you an email just reply, "i am sorry i cannot read this email until my trial is over, thank you".
:)
;D I like that.
-
Or even....
I'm with DR Jennifer-yuck for me. It just isn't natural looking.
-
DR Jose, it was a very interesting monologue.
I’m pleased to see you have arrived safely. Have a good time.
-
DR Ginny, I'm pleased and relieved your return to work has been extended.
VIBES YOU WILL BE MUCH IMPROVED BY THEN!
-
Back from an annoying and the satisfying lunch. I first went to Hugo's to have their Papa's Eggs and a salad. I should have known better. At twelve-twenty I happily found a parking place. But once inside it was jammed with loud, obnoxious Studio City people and there was a ten-minute wait. I decided to wait, but when they finally sat me and my guest it was at a teeny-tiny table next to a pole and within two feet of another table. I just sat there, my usual claustrophobic self, fuming, and then I packed it in and left. No more Studio City Hugo's for me - EVER. I'll do the West Hollywood Hugo's because they know how to a) run their restaurant and take care of their regulars and b) know how to lay out their room.
-
I then went to Art's, where I got a nice, big booth and I had my tri-salad, two scoops of turkey salad, once scoop of egg salad. Normally I have two pieces of rye bread with butter, but I didn't this time, and therefore I didn't fill up at all. I didn't finish the egg salad, so I think it was a reasonably healthy and reasonable caloried luncheon.

DR elmore, I hope all is well with your neighbor.
-
DR elmore, I hope all is well with your neighbor.
I've heard him walking around a couple of times but he hasn't come down to apologize for last night's inconvenience. When I went up to check on things, no one was there. I'll see him in the next couple of days.
-
I have some writing to do, so I'm going to drop off-line now to do that. Then back to the viewing room for tonight's festivities.
WBBL.
-
Eight books gone, which leaves twenty-two left for the special bonus gift.
-
DR Cilla, I have a similar addiction, only to post-its. ;D
DR Ben, thanks for the Danger Mouse/ Baxter history. :)
-
Where is that wedding? Shocking! She looks like a porn bride.
My above questions are for the photo DR Singdaw deleted.
-
DR Jane - I decided to remove the picture. It seemed a bit Unseemly. :)
-
Unseemly for sure, and far from a pleasant sight. ;D And very sad, IMHO.
-
Shall I remove all my posts regarding the non-photo?
-
No, DR Jane...it's OK! Keep everyone guessing. And let them know that they avoided nightmares. :)
-
;D
-
I have a question. It's a bit personal, but since folks do talk about their health here, I figure it's OK.
Who here has had your appendix removed at some point in your life?
I haven't. In fact, the only operation I've ever had (so far) was at age five having my tonsils removed.
I still have my appendix & tonsils. Is there a hidden reason you ask this? I know if you have symptoms you should be checked immediately. Keith’s father waited too long & his surgery was serious & complicated. A few years later Keith’s brother went straight to the doctor & his recovery wasn’t much easier.
I’m glad you stated you had writing to do before disappearing today.

I gotta tell you.

Look at you, color-coordinating your hair and beard with your pants. You need to exchange your puce-colored toga for the chartreuse one that no one has claimed -- not everyone can pull that color off, but it's definitely in your palette, DR SingSong. ;)

Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com?
I got stung by something while hiking today. Whatever it was, I surprisingly wasn't allergic to it. :)
With the help of wrist supports, a wheel barrow & Keith, I carried the bags of salt to the water softener tank and filled it.
Wasn't that exciting news?
-
I'm cooking pork chops for dinner and Richard and I just watched the movie Vantage Point.
Isn't that exciting?
-
Did you like VANTAGE POINT? We have it in our NetFlix queue.
-
DR Jane - I decided to remove the picture. It seemed a bit Unseemly. :)
Well, that's no fun -- that's never stopped anyone on this site before...
-
Did you like VANTAGE POINT? We have it in our NetFlix queue.
It was OK - not a lot of dialogue. Richard got it from NetFlix, too.
-
That's the title of my next novella... The Vantage Point of a Pork Chop...
-
That's the title of my next novella... The Vantage Point of a Pork Chop...
LOL! That's about the only one that wasn't covered in this movie!
-
Glad to see that DR Jose had a smooth flight to Florida. I hope he's having a blast in the parks!
-
You need to exchange your puce-colored toga for the chartreuse one that no one has claimed -- not everyone can pull that color off, but it's definitely in your palette, DR SingSong.
Why thank you, DR Miss Karen! :)
Perhaps, if I'm really good, you will specially design me a toga that's half puce, half chartreuse!!
-
DR Miss Karen, when does your E&T DR and DS start his new school program...in September?
-
Well, that's no fun -- that's never stopped anyone on this site before...
Trust me, it is a sight you could live without. ;D
-
I think I'll take my walk to the mailbox BEFORE I eat dinner.
-
DR Miss Karen, when does your E&T DR and DS start his new school program...in September?
I think classes at UCLA start Sept. 22.
-
Just how far IS your mailbox from your house, DR Jane?
-
It (VANTAGE POINT) was OK - not a lot of dialogue. Richard got it from NetFlix, too.
I rented it from the markets Red Box ($1) - entertaining and worth the time invested, but nothing to write home about.

Last night DP Colin and I went to see a production of "Follies".
For those who know their Australian artists with international acclaim:
John Deidrich
Anne Wood
Philip Gould
Debra Byrne
Judi Connelli
Nancye Hayes
Melissa Langton
Margaret Haggart
Monique Brynnell
Kenneth Collins
-
Judi Connelli was Carlotta.
AMAZING talent.
I recommend her CDs to anyone interested in theatre music.
Debbie Byrne's CDs are also worthwhile additions to any collection of theatre music.
-
Tonight I have THE RUINS
So sorry, DR dB.
Have you tried Immodium?
-
anything for you, dah-ling.
Awww.... You're so sweet!
I don't care what all the others say.
And by "the others," I mean DR Ron Pulliam. 8)
-
Judi Connelli
LOVE her!
I'm so glad that you got to see this. It's so rarely done.
-
I wonder if that Follies has been/will be recorded...legitimately or not. ;)
-
Yesterday Kerry said
Give yourself a break. A trial is like running a 10 mile marathon, and you need to be good to yourself. No diets. No family. Have a cupcake and meditate. I have total faith in your abilities, so give 'em hell, and work on the crud afterwards. I went through this too many times as a paralegal, so I know you have to take care of yourself. I used to make DR MusicGuy (when we were still together) do the same thing before a concert. There is enough physical and mental stress that you don't need to put yourself through anymore suffering. You have nough on your plate right now, dear friend. Eat well, and get some rest.
Thanks Kerry, Yes, it's a marathon and I accepted having only 2 months to prepare. It's fine. The trial is all falling into place as they always do when you put in enough time preparing. I've had lots of jury trials over the years, probably at least 40-50 or so. I don't keep track. I appreciate your advice and am doing exactly that.
Edith mentioned yesterday that I work well under pressure and that's really true. I need the normal getting ready for trial pressure to really help me focus, the other stuff I have told people in no uncertain terms that I am not talking to them or dealing with that now.
-
I don't care what all the others say.
And by "the others," I mean DR Ron Pulliam. 8)
That's just a front, an act. He absolutely adores me. While I was E and T, he was sending me PMs at least twice a day, begging me to return, saying he couldn't live another day without one of my gratuitous postings -- those PMs read like pages out of a romance novel, I'm telling ya ... ;D
-
DR Cillaliz - Give 'em heck! -And Breathe... then Breathe again. ;)
Thanks DR Jose. I took advantage of the excuse of my painters having to leave both my front and back door open so they could dry to bring a couple boxes of trial stuff home and review some depos but in a comfortable relaxed environment with the girls.
We had a pretrial conference this morning. I still have lots to do, but am really right on track for where I should be right now.
However, I do appreciate the reminders to breathe.

I've now seen four productions of Follies over 30 years.
I love the show.
I've been fortunate enough to see Judi Conelli in "Sweeney Todd" and in "Sunset Boulevard".

I'm cooking pork chops for dinner and Richard and I just watched the movie Vantage Point.

Actually, since cooking requires standing up, I say that's very exciting

So, I was at the County Courthouse wearing the same shoes I was wearing when I wiped out in the Federal Building during my last trial and ....no I didn't fall, but I stumbled, bumbled and managed to recover without hitting the floor. The biggest problem is that i sort of strained a muscle in the process. I love those shoes, but am thinking maybe it's time to quit wearing them

From BEST FRIENDS:
Dear Members and Friends,
You’re the best! Thanks so much to everyone who’s signed our petition to invite Barack Obama and his family to adopt a dog.
When the Obamas said they’d promised their kids they’d get a family dog after the election, the American Kennel Club started a campaign to encourage the family to get a “pure” breed from a pet store or commercial breeder.
How much better it would be if they were to adopt one from a shelter or rescue group.
In just over a day, 27,000 of you signed our petition (http://www.obamafamilydog.com) asking them to do just that.
It’s a great start, but we still need lots more signatures.
This is not about politics, by the way, it’s about saving homeless pets. So let’s get all of America talking about why adopting a pet is a winning choice.
Best Friends members have made a big difference already. Wouldn’t it be great to see homeless pets find their way onto the agenda of this year’s election news!

I am SOOO happy with the painters work. Although I think they painted the sliding glass door in the basement room shut, lol. We did discover it today so they are going to fix that before they leave. They discovered that none of the windows had been sealed around the edges, rotten wood that had been painted over etc. They fixed all that stuff and it's looking marvelous. They accidentally put a hole in the front screen door, so they are fixing that tonight and I'll post photos tomorrow when they are done. The backyard REALLY looks better. They also fixed the rotten board where we all believe the bat was getting in.
They have really been a highlight this week

Just how far IS your mailbox from your house, DR Jane?
Half a mile down & half a mile back up hill. I took an extra walk along the irrigation canal which is off of our road.

Think I'll go get a real meal for dinner. I'll be back later...

But I signed it. :)

DerBrucer, I knew I could count on you to post the petition info. I signed it yesterday. I plan to email Best Friends and ask them to offer the family help in finding a low allergy dog.
I am shocked at the AKC. I remember when 101 Dalmatians came out the Dalmatian organizations were requesting people not rush out and get their children a Dalmatian.

I need to call a friend on the east coast, first I want to shower after my walk.
-
Ginny, your experience was my justification for not staying off my foot.
Good plan, DR Laura! How is your ankle?
-
I am back from a tearful farewell to my friends Tiffany and Tara who are moving back to the West Coast. Tara and I worked at Barnes & Noble, and for a while her sister Tiffany worked at the cash register dept. I've seen Tara go from an unemployed newspaper person to a registered nurse and Tiffany go from a paralegal worker to a degree from John Jay Criminal College. We had Mexican food and margaritas, so I'm tipsy, and I will miss their being around for laughs or a horror film.
I'm very sleepy as well.
-
It is much better. Thanks.
-
I think I'm done with today's stuff. I wonder if I shall watch a motion picture or just sit on my couch like so much fish, or listen to CDs, or go record the rest of the songs. I thought I was close to being done, but I went through act three and there are at least five more things, none of which I remember at all, so it's quick new music for those. Because I'm doing it quickly, as soon as I come up with something I push record and get it down as fast as I can before I forget it.
-
Will we never get to page eight?

I have a hankerin' to watch a Jean Pierre Melville film.

Well, DR Cillaliz, when you put it that way...
That's my goal for the next week and a half - do a little more each day and get myself back into "shape" for going back to work.
-
DR Singdaw, here is a view from my walk along the irrigation ditch., except I didn't see any cows this afternoon.

Great picture, Jane!

What IS this WUSSBURGERING today? Let's get some postin' goin' on. I've been watching A Hatful Of Rain - don't know if I'll finish it or not. I think I'll take a nice walk now.

Good evening, all! I'm just coming up for breath from CLOSER-land. I'm really tired...
The CLOSER folks pulled something we didn't expect and decided to air episode 404 before 403. (They did something similar last year, but at least we knew about it way in advance!) I had the dailies for both shows but had been working on all the stuff for 403, when one of our astute producers noticed there was something amiss with the grids. So now we are trying to crank out all the elements we need for Monday by the end of tomorrow when our on-line editor leaves town. It's been rather stressful and not as creative and fun as it usually is, because we've been told that 404 is going to be the BIG episode of the year. Nothing like a little pressure...
-
Him: You got new pants.
Me: Yes. I don't really like them, but they have pockets.
Him: I love pockets. You know, when I was in high school, they called me Pockets.
Me: Really?
Him: No.
-
It really is a great episode, BTW.
Also, a friend of mine has a CLOSER blog on the TNT website. She's a good writer and it's fun to read.
In this episode (404) Daniel Baldwin is the guest star. He's kind of like a scary Alec Baldwin; very well-cast!
-
I just got a phone call from my DH, who is working on a film. He said that one of the actors reminded him of bk. So he mentioned that to the actor. It turned out that the actor not only knew who bk was but apparently his mom worked with bk a while back (guess she's an actress, too.)
He said he'd heard about THE BRAIN when it was in NY and wanted to go but never made it. Anyway, Greg promised to find out the name of his mom and write it down. (He always remembers a name that sort of sounds like the name...)

The final nunbers are in:
TNT’s THE CLOSER Scores as Ad-Supported Cable’s
#1 Series Telecast for the Year-to-Date,
With More than 7.8 Million Viewers
SAVING GRACE Wrangles 5.2 Million Viewers
With more than 7.8 million vi ewers tuning in, TNT’s hit series THE CLOSER returned last night with a bang, ranking as ad-supported cable’s top series telecast for the year-to-date among viewers, households and adults 25-54, according to Cable Fast Nationals. SAVING GRACE followed with a strong showing of 5.2 million viewers, coming in behind THE CLOSER as ad-supported cable’s #2 season premiere for the year-to-date among households.
“Once again, TNT has hit pay dirt with THE CLOSER and SAVING GRACE,” said Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks. “We are thrilled that these award-winning shows have gotten their new seasons off to such great starts and look forward to another outstanding year from both.”
Ratings highlights for last night’s season premiere of THE CLOSER include:
· THE CLOSER scored a 6.2 coverage household rating/5.2 national household rating.
· The season premiere was watched by 7,809,000 viewers; 5,914,000 households; 2,475,000 adults 18-49; and 3,292,000 adults 25-54.
· Last night’s episode ranked as ad-supported cable’s #1 series telecast for the year-to-date in delivery of viewers, households and adults 25-54.
· THE CLOSER’s season premiere outdelivered the series’ overall third-season average among viewers (7,809,000 vs. 7,435,000); households (5,914,000 vs. 5,465,000); adults 18-49 (2,475,000 vs. 2,197,000); and adults 25-54 (3,292,000 vs. 2,944,000).

All numbers and claims above reflect Live + Same Day ratings and deliveries. Last year, THE CLOSER ranked as ad-supported cable’s most watched show on DVR. Complete Live + 7 ratings and deliveries for both THE CLOSER and SAVING GRACE will be available in two weeks.
THE CLOSER, which stars Golden Globe® winner Kyra Sedgwick and airs Mondays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), ranks as ad-supported cable’s #1 series of all time among households and viewers.
Turner Network Television (TNT), television’s destination for drama and one of cable’s top-rated networks, offers original series, including the acclaimed and highly popular detective drama The Closer, starring Kyra Sedgwick; Saving Grace, starring Holly Hunter; Raising the Bar, starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben and Jane Kaczmarek; Leverage, starring Timothy Hutton; and Trust Me, with Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh.
And blah blah blah...more PR about the network. But anyway, I guess we can keep our jobs for another year!
-
I haven't watched The Closer season premiere yet. I have it on my DVR. Maybe tonight. I'm almost embarassed to admit this, but I'm finally reading Kritzer Time. I finished the first two Kritzer books some time ago but hadn't gotten the last one done. Well, I'm over 1/2 way through and enjoying it very much
-
Great news, Edi! :D
-
My ankle is fine after my near fall, but I fear I strained my right buttock...lol. It feels a little better when I don't just sit on it, so I went to the grocery store and walked up and down every aisle. It's way to hot and humid to walk outside.
And yes, I bought another dozen roses....
-
Speaking of roses, there is a HyVee in my parent's town. My mother has been hinting to my dad that the roses there are cheap this week. She finally got tired of hinting and when he asked if she needed anything at the store today she said "Yes, a dozen roses". He figured it out and she was very happy to have them. The 50 cents per rose goes for 3 more days, but I think I'm done. 3 dozen is enough.
-
There are fireworks going off for the annual Rivercade festival. I live miles and miles away but can still hear them quite clearly.
-
Back from my evening constitutional - it's quite warm out - eighty-one degrees to be exact.

No hidden agenda at all. I was just curious. When I was younger, I had thought about having my appendix removed just so I would not be potentially troubled with it later. (My mother had hers burst on her while she was in college.) But I never did it.
-
Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com?
Not at all.
-
Busy night, but I accomplished very little.
-
I have a hankerin' to watch a Jean Pierre Melville film.
Criterion is releasing more of his films in October though you may already have them in region 2 releases.
-
I got all of the bonuses on the second disc in the VAMPYR set watched. They included a documentary made in 1966, a video essay on the film (very good), and a radio speech on simplicity in film delivered by Dreyer in 1958 (very dry and a bit dull).
Dreyer did say that in his estimation, color was completely misused in most color films made, and that there were only two or three color films that had ever used color correctly, the best being GATES OF HELL.
-
I pulled out THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT on Blu-ray disc and watched that tonight for my fun movie of the evening. The hit and miss quality of the film clips in TE really shows up in high definition.
-
And I ended my evening with tonight's season premiere of PROJECT RUNWAY.
Some interesting creations, some very pretty indeed. And I had no problem at all with the judges' decision about the losing design. It was certainly the one I liked least.
-
Tomorrow I'm going to start on that TRANSFORMERS box set though I'm thinking now I won't get through the entire thing before I have to put it aside and do at least two other films: HIGH AND LOW from Criterion and THE SCORPION KING on Blu-ray.
-
OOOOH Just watched The Closer... I liked it!
Isn't Kyra going to be on CBS Sunday Morning this week?
-
DS Betsy's brother edited next Tuesday's episode of L&O (which I assume is an SVU--we don't watch that franchise). He has been a trailer editor for years, mostly Pixar and Disney stuff, though he had a couple of major features to his credit, but I think maybe this is his first tv episode.

That likely won't last long. At this point, I don't think I'll ever get my stack down to nothing. By the time I get to the last item, three new things will come in from various places. Right now, I already know in August I'll have four TV box sets from CBS Paramount alone including DEXTER and NCIS (that doesn't count whatever MTV, Comedy CEntral, BET or Logo stuff they send), three Criterions, two or three Disney Blu-rays (including the Miley Cyrus concert and NIXON).

And now, with no more writing to do, I'm heading to bed.
Good night!

Well, since there isn't very many pages of posts. I'll ramble for a minute or so. Today, I started sifting through my clothes, getting rid of what I don't wear and can't wear *never mind* :) and figuring out the clothes I can wear and what needs to be washed. Trying to prepare for the New York trip.

Watched a couple of Law & Orders I had recorded I hadn't seen. Met a friend for lunch I use to work with. Went to Peemkaew's in NW Portland. Delicious Pineapple Rice with Chicken! Could only eat half.
-
BTW, it is a Thai restaurant. Came home and crashed on the couch for about an hour. Haven't been sleeping so hot lately, actually it has been getting better. Then sorted clothes a little more and picked up sister from work as I am on the look out for permanent job and obviously not working currently. I did drop off a big garbage bag of clothes at Goodwill too.

Except that we don't have reviewers assigned to certain studios, like you do. Some stuff is assigned to us, other stuff we get to choose, and I must admit I have probably been choosing too much stuff recently, I've felt overwhelmed at times. So I think I'll cut back--at least until I see some *really* good stuff in the screener pool, LOL.

Guess I've rambled enough. It is now 9:45 p.m. and I guess I should try to get some sleep now. 5 more days till NY! Night, all!
-
I can't wait for the new Criterion of High and Low - I have every other DVD release from all regions, and none of them are quite good enough.
-
And I hope Criterion has some Melville films that haven't come out elsewhere - I already have Le Doulos and a couple of others.
-
Welcome thirteen GUESTS. Pathetic around here, ain't it?
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page eight. Apparently we're not getting to page nine.
-
...I strained my right buttock...
I can just see you in court - with your ass in a purple cast!

Why has DR TCB been absent these last few days?
-
Wasn't Tony Curtis in "The Purple Cast"?
-
Well page nine has arrived.

Reward for missing dog at Washington Dulles
by Grant Martin Jul 16th 2008 @ 1:00PM
If you happen to be riding around in one of the Moon Rovers at Washington Dulles in the next couple days, keep your eyes peeled for any four legged creatures running around the tarmac.
John and Ronia Weisner, two owners of a dog that was traveling with John, an active member of the armed forces, en route to Saudi Arabia, were horrified to find that their pet was lost at Washington DC's Dulles airport, not an hour after they turned her over to United Airlines' airport authorities for luggage check in.
The culprit, they suggest, is the substandard cage that the FAA required them to use -- apparently the new kennel that they purchased had to have screws in it but was still not structurally sound enough to handle the baggage system.
But how did the dog escape? Once the dog and cage went down into the luggage system, it appears that something struck its side and the dog broke free. As to whether the dog could have broken itself free, the Weisner's state:
"There's no way, no something hit it, bended it inward."
Now, in an effort to find the missing animal and restore peace to John and Ronia, the two have offered a $2500 reward, while United has put up another matching $2500. The pair have been scouring the tarmac with escorts looking for the dog and apparently have still yet to find the animal.
My bet is that it will show up in someone's luggage in Abu Dhabi.
