Well, you've read the notes, the notes were connected, and now it is time for you to post until the connected cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SEMPITERNAL!
-
I must to bed - the connection is now so slow that I doubt I would have been able to post the notes at this time.
-
With SEMPITERNAL the word of the day, how about for the song of the day

Best pizza: a Pizza Marguerite (accomopmiened by a lovely salad of yumilicious wild greens and a perfect vinagerette dressing to die for) outside at a cafe overlooking the ocean in Nice.
Second best (and maybe a tie-- although completely different) was a deep dish pizza at Two Marbles (Four Marbles?) with extra cheese and well done on top. MusicGuy and I had it about once a week. It got to the point where they recognized my voice and the way I liked it and knew my name and just got to the point of calling it the "Kerry Special." The place no longer exists and I dream of that pizza sometimes. Heaven.
Off the subject, but what made the deviled eggs so special and unique?
Laters!
-
The bacon, perhaps?

Good Evening! Good Morning! Wherever You Are!
Many, many thanks to our hosts for the evening - DR FJL, his ever-lovin' Skip, and Toby and Dylan. The food was delicious. The conversation was sparkling - and sometimes downright scandalous. And the company was perfect.
And without further ado...
-
I was going to take pics of everyone's arrival, but I only ended up getting one of DRs vixmom and the vixter...

Pizza = :D
The best pizza that I've had is at a place in Lacey called Dirty Dave's Gay 90's Pizza...they've been in Lacey for as long as I can remember and they've always had great pizza. I used to always get Hawaiian (Canadian bacon and pineapple) or sausage and pepperoni (anywhere I went), but when I was in college, one of my suite-mates said that his favorite was pepperoni and pineapple. I tried it and have loved it ever since. Also, one of Dirty Dave's specialty items is cashews. I love me some cashews, so another time I got pepperoni, pineapple, cashews, extra cheese and extra sauce on a thin crust. It was THE BEST!! And still is. ;D

As for the Topic of the Day...
I've had many a "this is the best pizza I've ever had" slices. My current favorite is from Artichoke & Basile in the East Village. The make a few basic pies - although "basic" is not truly the right word. They may a classic margherita - tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil. They also make a thick(!)-crusted Neapolitan style. But their claim to fame is a slice of their Artichoke Pizza - which tastes like hot Artichoke-Spinach Dip on top of a hearty pizza crust. Sooooo good. -And only $3.00 for a slice. A HUGE slice.

DR Laura, I think they get it right on the tv, I'll have to look again. It may just be the transcript. That is the station where I was the weatherperson for the day, you'd think they'd know me by now.

If you're accepting that your client was present (albeit under duress) and shot the gun (albeit, again, under duress, and shot to miss) why all this bother about DNA and blood etc?

NEW YORK — Same-sex couples may soon get full health-care coverage for their spouses following a successful court challenges and a directive from the governor.

I don't think I ever had a really outstanding pizza. They have been good and great and tasty, but never outstanding.

It is served at Humpys Pizza & Pannini.

DR Jennifer, re: So You Think You Can Dance
I agree, I was surprised Will got the axe -- but I was wondering if all the fawning over him being Debbie Allen's protege turned a lot of the public off. It did for me in the beginning. Actually, I had real problems with it when she was a judge during the early rounds -- she should have been off the panel from the beginning if any of her students were trying out. And then every chance they got -- someone during the judges' comment, or from Cat, or the camera cutting to Debbie smiling or clapping for him in the audience, etc. etc. -- they kept reminding us. Several weeks there, I was like, okay, enough already, we get it, he trained with Debbie Allen and you want him to win-- it made me root against him even though he's a great dancer because I felt like they were trying to manipulate the voting and us, the audience ... But his James Brown solo won me over the other night, so I thought Mark might be on the chopping block. Comfort was a one-trick pony -- great doing the hip-hop, street stuff, but came across as uncomfortable doing anything else. Katee should win the whole enchilada...
-
Yes, that goes without saying. But thanks for mentioning it! ;)
Hey, I don't have any problems with it, but obviously, Jose thinks this is a "family" site ... ::)
-
Good morning, good day, how are you this beautiful day? I'm up after a pretty good night's sleep, which surprised me. I'll now see if I can get out of here for a jog by nine-thirty. If not, I may have to forego the jog.

Good morning, all! The photos look great from last night, and so does the food. I feel as though I haven't seen DR singdaw nor vixmom in centuries, and I believe this is one of the few times that I've missed my dear friend BK when he's in Manhattan. I send "break-a-leg vibes" to everyone for tonight's show![move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[/move]
Today, I have a trip to the 42nd Street NYPL to look over the 1903-1906 correspondence of Townsend Walsh, business manager and publicist for Babes In Toyland, and I may nmake an emergency run up to my storage space to pick up some of the plastic bags containing pillows, blankets, etc. in mothballs. I figure after 6 months any critters that might be inside them are dead, and I'd like to launder them all tomorrow morning.
I'm also hot to see THE X-FILES movie, so who knows what else wll be on today's agenda?
-
Back from a two-mile jog. I jogged up to 95th, which is slightly uphill all the way - very difficult. Coming back was easier, although by that time I was thoroughly exhausted. But I made it and am now sweating like Ye Olde Pig. In then minutes or so I'll take a shower, get dressed and then be on my way to work with Crista and Michael Lavine, then on to Penn Station, then Great Neck, then the park. I'll be back around midnight so keep the home fries burning until my returning.
-
Thanks for the pics, DR Jose. Looks like a festive, hearty crowd of HHWers!
-
I've showered and will shortly be on my way.
-
Good morning!
Cool enough this morning to go without A/C, but I have a feeling I'll be turning it on when I go back downstairs. It's been overcast most of the morning, and the street was wet when I went out to get the newspaper, so it must have drizzled early this morning.
-
The X-FILES movie has not gotten very positive notices which was a great disappointment to me. I liked the last one and had high hopes for this one.
-
I am now officially caught up on the last two days' worth of posts. I had lots of smart retorts to DR MBarnum's inquiry on gamekeepers but I thought DR Jose said it best, I appreciate DR Ron Pulliam's efforts to get some of Skips yumilicious dinner to me today, and I really liked seeing the photos of last night's gathering and the yummilicious meal.
I forgot to mention last night, that one of my most amazing finds yesterday was the Victor Herbert Orchestra set of parts for the Overture to The Lady of the Slipper; the Violin 1 & 2 parts are marked for stand, so the Violin i parts are marked "Violin I/1 Vilin 1/2 Violin 1/3, etc, " so Violin 1/1 is the stand for the concert master and his associate. On the part is written in pencil "played by Kitty . . . . , Harold Sanford (who was also Herbert's orchestrator as well as concert master), and Fred Landau(!!!)" who was another concert master for the Herbert Orchestra. I'm wondering if there's a 1912 violinist in our DR FJL's past?
I'm off to the NYPL.
Today will be the first day this week that I don't have plans to leave the house for something, either lunch or dinner out or meeting friends for drinks. I'm going to enjoy getting to stay in comfortable clothes all day long and stay inside.
Today I'll finish the episode of FEAR ITSELF that I started last night. It has a kind of STEPFORD WIVES sort of vibe to it that is kind of creepy, so I'll be interested to see where it goes.
-
Or should that be more vile beaus than violin bows
(not true, of course, but it sounds interesting)
-
I had the DVR record off the Universal HD channel the HD showing of PATRIOT GAMES. It's coming oout on Blu-ray this week (along with the other Jack Ryan films), and I wanted to see how much better it looked in HD before plunking down any money for it. PATRIOT GAMES is my favorite of the four films, so I'll look at some of it today to see how it comes off.
-
Tonight I'll be working of the Blu-ray release of THE DOORS for review purposes. It isn't released until August 12th.
Nothing on TV for me to recommend tonight. Others may have some selections.
Today is DS Gabe's 12th birthday party (tomorrow is his actual natal day). Then I'm off to final tech and dress for the Revue from Hell. :)
Saturday morning greetings! This weekend is our local Greek festival, so, of course, it's hot and humid. We'll go there for dinner this evening.
Love, love, love the photos from last night's gathering. The food looks exquisite and I, too, would like to have the deviled egg recipe. Looking forward to seeing our NYC friends in about a month!
Thanks to all for the gossip and the photos of another opening night production by Fred and Skip. It was great to see Vixmom (Wow!), the Vixter (so grown up), BK, Fred, Jose, Julie, the spread, and Jayson's spouse. What a shame that elmore could not attend.
Oh, and if Jose is going to post any more photos, I cast my vote for more photos of the Disney Cruise cow-pokes.
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I've already been to the grocery store. And while I was at the grocery store, I noticed a "family pack" of boneless, skinless chicken breasts that was priced lower(!) than the bone-in family packs. -Hmm... that almost sounds unseemly. In any case... I had originally been thinking about buying some ground turkey - which was also on sale - but after realizing the package of chicken breasts I had found were the last one on the shelf, well... I'll be prepping and chopping and freezing them later today.
Exciting, huh?
Cilla, I was going to tell you to look at today's Non Sequitur comic strip, but when I searched online it seems that the Oregonian has run one that is not being done nationally, which is truly weird. I'll try to scan it and post it later--some cogent commentary on being an attorney and food choices. :)
Hello, everyone. I was just catching up on the posts.
TOD:
I've never been a pizza lover, but I took a Celebrity cruise once and they actually had a pizza oven onboard. Now THAT pizza was good! Since most pizza is cooked to order, it must have been more than it was right out of the oven. I gained several pounds on that cruise, whereas I generally exercise enough on cruises so that I don't gain. Of course, Celebrity also had great desserts. It was the best food of any the the cruises I've been on.
Maybe Jose (or others) can weigh in on cruise food.
-
I thought that everyone looked great in the group photo from last night.
-
Is this the same Stoo who was recently on Broadway?
Stoo's best known for Children's Letters to God, but those of us of a certain age (and I think you might qualify, FJL ;D) love him best for The Silly Book, which had an attendant record named, suitably, The Silly Record. The Silly Book just came out in a revised form a couple of years ago in an oversized edition published by Candlewick Press, IIRC.
In general, I know that Food Service operations are a major(!) focus of cruise lines, so the quality tends to be quite high. I was impressed - again - with the quality and variety of food on the Disney ships, and their "high-end" Italian restaurant, Palo, is very much worth the $15.00 up-charge.
On this last cruise, I only hit the buffet line once - and that was for the first lunch since that was the only dining option - besides the corn-dog/hamburger/chicken fingers counter on Deck 9. I ate the rest of my meals in the dining rooms, including my breakfast. I also found that even though there is still an aspect of "mass-production" to the dining room menus, the kitchen staff were more than happy to make adjustments to certain dishes if anyone had any sort of like/dislike due to dietary restrictions or just personal preferences.
Coming from a food service family, I also know just how much work and planning(!) and storage(!!!) it takes to prepare almost 3000 meals a day. I do have to say that if I were ever to take a cruise longer than seven days - with a string of days at sea - I might start questioning the freshness of the food.
As far as desserts.... -And this is a problem with most dessert buffets anywhere - I've found that I really can't stomach the over-use of "whipped topping". Yes, I know it's very shelf-stable, and will not spoil sitting out on a serving table for an hour - or longer - but, I'm sorry, just because you mixed it up with strawberries, chocolate and/or lemon juice and zest, that does not make it a "mousse" or pastry cream.
-
*One other thing about the food on the Disney Cruise Line - and in the Disney Parks now - they recently overhauled their offerings in order to provide healthier options, with an emphasis on the selections geared toward kids and teenagers. Less breaded and deep-fried foods, and more roasted, broiled and steamed items. And more fresh fruits and vegetables too.
Of course, they still have McDonald's French Fries kiosks set up in each park, but they're now offered alongside the smoke turkey legs and fruit smoothies
-
One of the kids here has Asperger's and just had a major meltdown due to the noise level. He slapped his mother, hard, while she just sat there doing nothing. I'm sorry, but that is simply unacceptable, whether or not the kid has a disability. If my autistic nephew ever slapped his parents, there would be heck (so to speak) to pay.
-
The Revue from Hell is looking more and more like a beautiful respite from the cares and worries of everyday life after 2 1/2 hours with all these kids. :)
-
Hang in there, DR JMK! Shouldn't the party be over soon?
JMK - I'm certainly of a certain age, but I don't know from Silly.
I just removed a post, which was duplicative of Ginny's, but why should the posting numbers suffer? :)
I resent being called Hample, You should know the camera adds ten pounds (and there were five cameras in the room by my count when that foto was taken.)
Wasn't Hample's the department store where Rhoda Morgenstern worked on The MTM Show?
Or was that Hemple's?
DR FJL - great minds and all that. That song from Molly Brown spells out some of my favorite theology.
I don't have very discerning tastes when it comes to pizza. I generally have liked all the pizzas I've eaten. In the second production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC that I did, the actor playing Capt. Von Trapp managed a Brixx pizzaria. For an end-of-show gift, I made him a homemade DVD of Tony Award musical numbers (this was before the BROADWAY LOST TREASURE'S starting coming out) from things like GRAND HOTEL, MY ONE AND ONLY, etc. He was so thrilled to get it that he treated me to a night at his pizza place, and I could order anything and everything from the menu I wanted.
THAT was a memorable night. I'm surprised he didn't declare bankruptcy the next day!
:)
-
I began my afternoon watching the remainder of FEAR ITSELF from Thursday night. It's the best episode that they've done in weeks. I really enjoyed it, and it had a neat twist I wasn't expecting.
-
Then I watched more WILL & GRACE episodes. One was the infamous break-up episode between Will and Vince which is the episode that won Bobby Canavalle his Guest Actor Emmy. A very touching episode (lily Tomlin was also a guest star, and I think she was nominated for this same episode.)
-
Followed were two more episodes featuring Jeff Goldblum as Scott Woolly, trying to ruin Karen's life. He was a quirky character; I'm sorry the writers didn't think of more creative things to do with him once they had gotten him established.
-
In the last of those episodes, Scott has fallen in love with Karen and tries to get her to date him at an annual dance at Karen's club. Also there, of course, is the infamous Beverley Leslie (Leslie Jordan) with his "business associate" Benji. And guest starring in the episode were Michele Lee and Chita Rivera as lesbian lovers masquerading as siblings.
With that many guest stars, it was a fun romp.
-
Another episode introduced Ed Burns as Grace's new love interest and featured Jack trying to clip a lock from Patti Lupone's hair so he could complete his Broadway diva's wig. Patti looked good in this episode and sang "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" at the end with assist from Will and Jack as the clippers came ever-closer to La Lupone . . . .
-
Tonight I'll be watching THE DOORS on Blu-ray.
I also noticed that I had the DVR record NANCY DREW on HBO-HD. Never saw this at the theater or on DVD previously, so I'll be curious to see what this is like, too.
-
Have some computer maintenance to do and then will head down to watch THE DOORS on Blu-ray. There are some bonuses on the disc, too, so it looks like I maybe occupied with this disc most of the evening.
Cilla, I was going to tell you to look at today's Non Sequitur comic strip, but when I searched online it seems that the Oregonian has run one that is not being done nationally, which is truly weird. I'll try to scan it and post it later--some cogent commentary on being an attorney and food choices. :)
Well, that tells me a lot ;)
DP Colin and I watched "The Bucket List" last night.
(Was it DR Ginny who was going to watch it?).
It seemed to us to be movie making by numbers!
About Schmidt was so much better,
In the "bucket, the whole was so much less than the sum of the parts.
(Which is of course "A Whole In the Bucket" reference).
-
Of course I thought "As Good As it Gets" was not as good as it gets!
(Helen Hunt just seemed to play her TV show character. I did like her performance though in "Pay it Forward")
-
In the last of those episodes, Scott has fallen in love with Karen and tries to get her to date him at an annual dance at Karen's club. Also there, of course, is the infamous Beverley Leslie (Leslie Jordan) with his "business associate" Benji. And guest starring in the episode were Michele Lee and Chita Rivera as lesbian lovers masquerading as siblings.
With that many guest stars, it was a fun romp.
Speaking of siblings, did JulieC40 and "sister" contact anyone about getting together in Manhattan?
-
Helen Hunt is the movie's equivalent of our Victoria Clark: they win awards for their performances and I don't know how anyone anywhere considers their work remotely worth hiring much less awarding.
-
No-one is alone! Thank you Larry. I thought it was just us!
-
Kind of a slow day around these here parts.
-
I did not like AS GOOD AS IT GETS at all, and only barely liked PAY IT FORWARD, although I thought the idea of it was nice.
-
I am waiting for the mail man.
-
Yesterday the Game Warden, today the Mail Man. ;)
-
Tomorrow the Personal Trainer.
-
A while back I bought this fantastic Bollywood movie poster
(http://shutter10.pictures.aol.com/data/pictures/27/001/3B/7D/43/43/l6-O4jLYDaEm7OjY35qds2puyCPJyzOB01B5.jpg)
I just think it is beautiful. It is from the 1948 film VEER GHATOTKACH (Brave Ghatotkach), a mythological movie featuring a story from the Ramayan.
I finally located a VCD of the movie, which stars the lovely Meena Kumari in one of her first adult lead roles back when she was making a lot of these B movies. It has no subtitles, but it is still a fun movie, and there are some rather attractive actors in the film as well.
-
Yesterday the Game Warden, today the Mail Man. ;)
Well, since the cable guy doesn't seem to come over much anymore..... 8)
-
The Game Warden and the Mail Man... Oh My!
-
Please make sure you don't confuse the mail man with the FedEx man DR Michael.
-
Paging hunky Former Neighbor...
Has anyone seen the new Batman movie..The Dark Knight? I'm thinking about going to it tonight
-
Yes, DR Tomovoz, we also watched The Bucket List last night. It was OK and I was glad we hadn't paid theater prices to see it. I think my DH liked it more than I did.
-
I don't remember the pizza, but one time DR Megan and I found a pizza place called "Marilyn's" that had everything Marilyn Monroe. DR Megan is a Marilyn Monroe fan.
-
After a couple of hectic - happy and sad - weekends, I've found some Me time and have been listening to Ben Folds and Andy Davis. (thanks to a certain Flapapino).
I've now shifted to a Poco collection.
-
Good Evening!
Well, this has turned out to be a very low-key day for me. Also a bit low-energy. Alas, I think my "allergies" may be the start of a summer cold. I'm feeling fine, just been a bit "nap-y" all day. -And I even took a nap a few hours ago. So, if I am dealing with a cold, the rest should be doing me some good. I hope.
I did step out a little while ago for a brief walk, and was very happy to find that it was/is almost unseasonably cool outside. Ah, very nice.
-
I was sort of taken by surprise to hear John Mayer's "Say" at the end of "The Bucket List". I guess it was not written for the film though.
Now that's eclecticism!
-
I was also going back through some recent photos, and realized I may have deleted a whole bunch of them from my camera before I downloaded them to my computer. -They were actually more pizza pictures. Guess that means I may have to head back down to the East Village to regather my photographic evidence. ;)
-
well, I've finally broken down to watch Howard Hughes' THE OUTLAW. I can't tell what unintentionally funny and what actually is funny. The score by Victor Young is terrible: western songs like "Bury Me Not On the Lone Prairie" and a lot of Mickey Mousing for sight gags, which I loathe. I do believe this is the only film I've seen Walter Huston in besides THE MALTESE FALCON, and I keep waiting for him to burst into "September Song."
I woould guess this film to be an MBarnum fave but I've been wrong before.
-
My memory confuses "Paleface" and "The Outlaw".
-
ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
Due to my work schedule, I will not be scorekeeping the Name Game on Monday.
OK, show
queens aficiandos (and you know who you are): I need help stat. The AD of the theater that's doing the Revue decided this afternoon, at our dress, that he does not like Sondheim's "Silly People." Why he waited until the day before we open I don't know. So we now need a song to fill this spot that isn't quite as dour--but something that still expresses this character's pessimism and lack of belief in other people. Any bright suggestions?
"Lonely Room" from Oklahoma.
;D
-I guess that wasn't exactly "bright".
-
DR Jose - do you have a Rodzinski report. I for one miss him.
-
DR Jose - do you have a Rodzinski report. I for one miss him.
Oh! I do! I do!
We both suffered throughwent to see Grease the other night. He's doing fine. His sports writing job does keep him a bit busy, but he's still able to write the "Leading Men" column for Playbill.com. Other than that - and his engagement - he's doing fine. We may get together for dinner next week, so I'll dig for more details then.
-And, yes, he does miss the denizens on this site, and he did mention the possibility of making a return appearance. However, he did have a request, a condition, if you will, and I passed that on to the power(s) that be. -Or something like that. ;)
"Put On a Happy Face", as sung by Sweeney Todd?
;)
Less faceteously
"A New Town Is a Blue Town" (Pajama Game)
Although this begs the question: what are the parameters of the revue? Is it composer-specific, for example?
-
How about a "quiet" version of "Easy To Be Hard" from Hair?
???
Or "Totally F*cked" from Spring Awakening?
;)
-
*I blame my clogged sinuses.
The only specificity is the FRIGGIN' SET!!! Oy! It's six characters stuck at the Bus Stop Cafe. This particular character is returning to New York after having failed at trying to get away from his wealthy parents (setting up my semi-brilliant medley of Another Hundred People/West End Avenue).
I actually have never seen THE OUTLAW, but the lead man in the film, Jack Buetel, lived in Portland after he left show business.
-
I would tell him it is too late to make changes now.
Or else he can choose a song and sing it himself.
-
Poco has been replaced by Snow Patrol.
"Chasing Cars" is such a great song.
Hear hear! I fully agree.
Der Brucer is watching Law & Order.
I know the show is great at hiring NYC actors, but storywise it sure ain't something that would make me want to live anywhere near that city.
I’ve been lurking today & keeping quiet. I had too much fun last night. My second piece of chocolate cake with creamy peanut butter frosting did me in.
We went to the Britt Festival last night. The Britt is an outdoor theater
in the charming historical town of Jacksonville.
-
We picnicked, visited with friends, and had a very fun evening. The concert was one I had been looking forward to and it didn’t disappoint us. We saw BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY.
Okay, I've been home all day (shh...with the runs :o but I feel fine, otherwise) have been watching TV (because I can't really leave my house :-\). I watched the last four episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" and created chapters for "Independence Day" that I had on my DVD burner that I recorded from one of the digital (not hi-def) channels. I did a few things on my computer and am also doing some laundry. Fun day, huh? ;)
-
But then I put on a DVD that I got from Netflix. The DVD is "Straight Men and the Men Who Love Them." It's a bunch of short movies...the longest is only 22 minutes. Anyway, I'm watching this one called "Popcorn & Coke" and it has two men in a movie theater and something about announcing the 2003 Glitter Awards (I wasn't actually paying that close attention to it...sorry). As the movie starts, one guy comes into the movie theater, buys a ticket and popcorn. Some music starts that sounds VERY familiar. The song is "What Can You Lose" and the singer is our very own Guy Haines, produced by our very own BK!! I couldn't believe it! Guy Haines is singing on a DVD! Another song interrups the wonderful singing of Guy, but then he comes back a little later. For the last couple of minutes of the six minute movie, the song they play is the late Laurie Beechman's "No One Is Alone!" Another song produced by BK! At the end, they show the credit:
WHAT CAN YOU LOSE - GUY HAINES
Courtesy of Varese Saraband Records
But they don't credit Laurie Beechman's song. What's that all about?
Just had to share. ;D
-
Sounds like fun, Jane
-
I actually have never seen THE OUTLAW, but the lead man in the film, Jack Buetel, lived in Portland after he left show business.
It is such a bad movie that I would think it could be on your top ten list.
-
Page 7 Fun Jane Dance!!!
How about a "quiet" version of "Easy To Be Hard" from Hair?
Great idea, and the singer likes it, too. Thanks, Jose!
Related events. Clearly.
DR George, what a great, fun story.
Leaving the house vibes!
-
DR Cilla, it was a very nice evening and the weather was perfect.
-
Cilla, having you been working all day? I enjoyed the links you have provided, even the ones that are difficult to hear.
-
The first episode of SORDID LIVES is on! 15 minutes in and it is truly wacko.
so was the movie.
-
DR George, what a great, fun story.
I hope you're referring to the DVD part of the story...not the medical issue.
;)
-
For any EUReKA fans out there, it looks like season three (starting up on Tuesday) will be twenty-two episodes long, as opposed to the thirteen each for the first two seasons.
There's something about the non-broadcast networks having choses thirteen episodes as a season standard that I kind of like. It's certainly better than having a season drag on for what seems forever. The Sci-Fi channel seems to be a bit more fluid than the other cable nets, however, which is probably also a good thing - it doesn't seem to bother them to split a season into two parts, for example.
-
;D
-
I guess I shall have to wait for the DVD of the series DR Elmore. I am pleased to have introduced the movie to DR Ben and Ant.
-
WOW, that is a lot of episodes. I hope they are good.
-
Perhaps I shall play a Tammy Wynette song.
"A Sordid Lives" reference of course.
-
'night
Cilla, having you been working all day? I enjoyed the links you have provided, even the ones that are difficult to hear.
I spent about 3 hours at the jail. I haven't done a lot more than that. Tomorrow I will prepare my cross for the rest of the state's witnesses.
Today is DS Gabe's 12th birthday party (tomorrow is his actual natal day). Then I'm off to final tech and dress for the Revue from Hell. :)
A Very Happy Pre-Birthday for DS Gabe!!
-
Thanks for sharing the poster, DR TCB!!! That's the one!!
We all asked bk last night why "Jersey Men" was premiering in NY State. But, you know - that's show business for ya. :)
Probably for the same reason that OKLAHOMA originally opened in Connecticut.
-
Good Afternoon!
Ah... I believe my sinus cavity is finally starting to clear up. I wonder if a jog around the Reservoir would do more good than harm?
You don't think I'm going to touch that cavity line, do you?
-
I would tell him it is too late to make changes now.
Or else he can choose a song and sing it himself.
I second third this option. Changing something the night before you open is ridiculous!
-
Well, I'm going to attempt church tomorrow. Richard and Rob assure me that no one will mind if the middle strap on my left sandal isn't fastened.
'night!
I'm going to try to get a decent night's sleep.
Hopefully with indecent dreams. ;D
It's all in the timing. ;)
DR JMK - You're welcome.
-
DR Jane - Sounds like you had a wonderful evening. -And last night's cake sounds good too. -I've been craving some sort of chocolate all day, but was too lazy and tired to do anything to satisfy that craving... Which is a good thing, I guess.
~~~~~ADEQUATE TOILET PAPER VIBES TO DR GEORGE~~~~~
;D
-
Thank you thankyou thankyou
FJL and Skip ...as always the hospitality was gracious, and bountiful!
Skip is the most magnificent chef.
Everything was wonderful but the devilled eggs were outstanding...
Whereas BK tried valiently to strick to his diet, I threw all thoughts of calories out the window and just enjoyed
In my opinion, going to Fred and Skip's for dinner and dieting is like going to a Broadway musical and wearing earplugs

Does DR TCB ever contribute posts at weekends?
-
I brought my camera, but Jose was doing such a good job at docuementing I left mine in its case
Jose kindly escorted the Vixter and me to the parking garage on 10th after the party broke up
Thank you sir!
-
On the ride home the Vixter said, "I'm glad your're my mom."
Before I had a chance to glory in my daughter's love and appreciation for me she added. "You know the best people"
-
Does DR TCB ever contribute posts at weekends?
Who?
-
In my opinion, going to Fred and Skip's for dinner and dieting is like going to a Broadway musical and wearing earplugs
I've been to a couple where I wish I had earplugs.
-
After a wonderful evening we drove home to the Island o' Long
and got to bed alitelpast midnight... I was up t 6 and at the gym by 6:30... I got in 1/2 hour on the ellipitcal and another hour on the the machines and free weights, drove home and showered, dressed and drove the Vixter out to the Girl Scout camp out just a littel southeast of where Ben and Anthony are spending the weekend
back home to run some errands, asnd start gathering clothes to get rid of....
I have decided I need to remove all the larger sizes from the house so that backsliding will be problematic
-
I've been to a couple where I wish I had earplugs.

I guess the Goodwill will be happy to see me....

Whew! A full evening with THE DOORS on Blu-ray. The movie is very long - 2 hours 20 minutes, and it's always been a bit of a mess. SOme good performances and come good era vibes, but all surface, no substance. Stone's script doesn't burrow into their psyches at all, so I always feel at the end like it's unfinished, there's more to explore and discover.
-
And the disc was loaded with supplements. One was a French documentary on Morrison's life there before his death. It lasted almost an hour. A couple of recently produced featurettes on the film's authenticity (or lack thereof) also combined to about an hour. Then there were 43 minutes of deleted scenes.
And an audio commentary which I only sampled about 30 minutes of instead of listening to the entire thing. Stone was very laid back and not especially chatty in this one.
-
I did have a few minutes, so I started on last night's MONK, but I only got about 15 minutes in. Looks like a good one this week. I'll finish it tomorrow while I cook and eat lunch.
I think I may take a free day tomorrow and watch things only for fun and nothing for review. We'll see how I feel about that tomorrow.
-
OK, writing finished and posted. Now it's time for bed.
Good night!

Planning a quick jaunt to Vegas for August 17-20. Does anyone know how to find out onlinewho's playing the Phantom when?
-
I have an acquaintance in the show. I'll ask.
-
I'm back from a VERY long and exhausting day, and before I get to the notes to talk about it, let me just say that I am a huge fan of Mr. Dello Joio and did as much of his music on CD while at Bay Cities as was humanly possible.
-
Laura - Thanks. I'm especially interested in who's scheduled for the two Monday August 18th performances.
-
FJL, the Venetian website only shows one Phantom: Anthony Crivello
-
The show went very well except for a couple of sound issues, but the audience just ate it up. Very pleasing. And we got out of there and back into town in time enough to go to Joe Allen's. They had no food at all for us at the venue, so I was really starving. I had a small Caesar and their delicious pulled pork sandwich. Great. Then I went to Kevin's apartment and printed out my boarding pass, then came home. Celebrity sighting at Joe Allen: Jeff Goldblum. Celebrity sighting coming out of a jernt two doors west: Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, and George Wendt. I shall now go write some notes.
-
Glad the show went well, BK.
-
Thanks, Laura.
-
Have this already been noted: The Venetian website says in its description of JERSEY BOYS:
"OFFICIAL AGE RECOMMENDATION
Jersey Boys contains smoke, gun shots, strobe lights, "authentic Jersey language" and is not recommended for children under the age of 12. We do encourage patrons to use these notes as deciding factors for the enjoyment of the performance for their children. No one under the age of 5 will be permitted in the theatre, and everyone must have a ticket."
-
"Authentic Jersey language?"
-
"Authentic Jersey language?"
Well...they do say the "F" word on the CD. :-\

Fort Lee?
Fairleigh Dickinson?

Umm...yeah, that's it.
;D
