And the word of the day is: SAPIENT!
The greek style yogurts that have come on the market lately are wonderful and so thick that you can almost use them as sour cream!
Sorry to leave you, DR George, but I'm going to head off for another few hours, I hope, of "finishing sleep." :)

Well, I don't think there's any fruit I don't like. And you may take that any way you wish! ;)
I don't know if it qualifies as a recipe, but some evenings after dinner when I'm in the mood for something sweet, I'll take some berries, sprinkle them lightly with toasted wheat germ, and top them with either a bit of plain yogurt or cottage cheese.

As for the tzatziki, you'll want to take two, three, maybe four garlic cloves (the more the merrier, I say), and finely chop them up with some salt. Add them to the yogurt cheese - you may want to do this in a bowl, easier to stir things together than in that plastic container.
Peel and seed a cucumber, chop it up fine and try to squeeze as much water out of it as you can. Add that to the yogurt, along with some finely chopped mint, about a tablespoon should do. A few grinds of freshly ground pepper and a tablespoon of red wine vinegar also go in the mixture. Stir it all up, plop it back into that plastic container, and pop it into the chill chest to "meld" for a bit. It lasts practically forever, and is a great sort of thing to spread on sandwiches, or to dress up veggies (cooked or raw), or whatever else you want to do with it.

I've never come up with a use for the whey that's been drained from the yogurt when making yogurt cheese. Give it to the dogs, I guess, they love that kind of stuff.
apricots are the only fruits I don't like.
At first I thought DR CILLA LIZ wrote: "I live in a neighborhood of orgies."
I have nothing to say, but just wanted to add a post.

I'm on a plan with Con Edison, our supplier of gas & electricity, for a monthly payment over the year based on what I spent the last year. My bill this month is $22 higher than last month. I assume this means that I, and every other Manhattan client, is paying for a con Ed screwup somewhere!
MattH - Thanks for the additional info! I'll go back and fix the post.

Another reason not to clean the house
DR Jose, I was at the county health department clinic last week. Interesting that I felt an overwhelming need to use Purell at the health department.
I most certainly do NOT use Greek-style yogurt when dressing fruit salads. For that I simply grab a thingie of Yoplait Key Lime yogurt and stir it in with the fruit.
Con Ed has already figured in the overall increase for the coming winter months since that percentage has already been decided. Yes, your bill - and ours - was higher this month, but (hopefully) that will ease the sting of the bills from November-February.
Love fruit. It's funny what people like and don't like. I love apricots, big juicy ones from the greenmarket. You split them in half, throw away the pit and yum, yum, yum. There's nothin' like fresh pinapple in my book. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE blueberries. I think they are one of my favorite fruits. I can eat them by the handful. I guess I'm just a contrarian ;)
My least favorite fruit is a delcious apple. They don't taste very delicious to me. Other apple varieties are much more flavorful and fun. I also don't much care for leechee nuts. I've had them both un-processed and processed (from a can with syrup). Yuck.
...-And, yes, I cheat and use the pre-made pie crusts from the grocery store....
:o - Jose's secret revealed!
Actually, DR Jose, we use them, too. Remind me, when we see you in a few weeks, to tell you my favorite story about the pre-made pie crust and the little old lady from church.
Back from a two-mile jog - difficult today on account of very sore calves.
Then again, there IS that twenty grams of fat PER breast. I think I'll pass.
I was going to mention when I posted about my favorite and least favorite fruit that it's gotten too expensive for me to buy in the grocery store. The famers' market is SO far away, and I don't want to spend money on gas just to save a few cents a pound on fruit, so I've done without much fresh fruit this summer. You could go to the market and buy some Fruit Roll-Ups. That way, you could have some fruit flavor and get a big high fructose corn syrup solids kick, too. :P
Can anybody who watches TORCHWOOD confirm that the season that just ended in the US was season 2?Oh, how I could spoil!
I am pretty sure that the season i saw last year was season 1 (since that policewoman girl was introduced to the team).
Well season 2 is starting here this friday.
Yeah!

[Thanks, MattH, for the extra info. I had forgotten that Rita Moreno was dubbed as well!]
-Which is also a reason not to get obsessive about using products like Purel and anti-bacterial soap. Yes, they help kill the "bad stuff", but they also kill the "good stuff".
I forget which show I was working on at the time, but there seemed to be a higher number of germ-o-phobes in the cast than usual. Almost everyone had a portable bottle of Purel in their bags, and they had also requested boxes of anti-bacterial Kleenex, and soap for the bathrooms. Well...
There was one guy in the cast who would always turn down the squirt of Purel whenever it was offered to him. "I'm keeping my good germs." Of course, this ended up causing some concern among some of the cast members. "Well, if you get sick, then end up passing it on to one of us..." So... Guess who was the only person in the cast not to get sick or call out during the entire run of the show? ;)
DR Ben - Thanks for the Anthony Update. Glad to know that he made it safe and sound to Chicago. Enjoy your Doggie Pay Date this afternoon! :)
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... I opened my eyes around 8:00... Then 9:00... Then 10:30... Hmm... I guess I slept in. ;)
we are different coasts.
I decided not to go "Mac," for the time being. Not that I didn't want to, but I have too many legacy programs which I don't think are compatible. But some day!
Aww... They just officially announced the passing of writer, Luther Davis.

Interesting food factoid: Did you know that In n Out Burgers cheeseburgers (which are very small and not very filling) have more calories and fat grams than their french fries? True.
Second interesting factoid: Did you know that one apple has about 110 calories, more than I would have thought, whereas one peach has 66 calories.
We just got back from using our four free passes to see the new Mummy movie. It was worth every cent we didn't pay for it. ;)

Hi DR Sandra. Are you home or at work?
Are your latest words of wisdom from a conversation you overheard?
;D
Chocolate & pizza, sounds yummy.

New Yorkers, is this the big story on all your news stations?
I've recently been introduced to frozen grapes - sort of interesting yet not.
It did lead off the news the other night, but since she wasn't hurt, it really didn't "stay" news. :-\
I've only had some cut up carrots today. Almost no calories and certainly no fat.
Another interesting food factoid I read: In order to work off the calories of one apple, one need only jog for three minutes.
Chocolate & pizza, not chocolate pizza.:P
This is a Lean Cuisine deep dish margherita pizza and a Cadbury bar.
Sorry for the delay; I was diagramming a sentence.
I'm a little bored right now.
DR Jose, did you see my post? ;)
Want to join me for a long walk to my mailbox?
DR Jennifer. I would be on the phone complaining. When I subscribe to a magazine I get a free issue for everyone that arrives scented. Years ago I canceled all magazines that did not come unscented, and they were sure to know why.
I suggest a face mask while you read.
She says I sound like something from Star Wars. I'm thinking I should give up my dream of being a singer.

I'm more interested in the lunatic who beheaded the guy on the Canadian Greyhound bus.
The Lean Cuisine pizzas are actually pretty tasty, low in calories and fat grams--I like the roasted vegetable one best.
It's not a subscription, that was my point. :(
She is talking in Esperanto. And THAT is what sounds like she is from Star Wars.

DR Ginny, my condolences on the loss of your friend. It sounds like a heartwarming service.

DR Singdaw, congrats on your new MAC! Were you able to retrieve your info?

I have nothing to say, so I'll link to the Osmonds singing "One Bad Apple"

or at least a cartoon of them singing "One Bad Apple"
I'm off to read some of Marc Acito's Attack of the Theater People and, probably, fall asleep.
'night!
I still say Donny Osmond is groovy.
I love Marc Acito! He owes me a letter.
Nice fox!
So much of working in the theater distorts perspective, if you were to ask me.
JRand, I don't dislike Dack Rambo or anything, but I am not what you would call a fan. I think I only saw him on that one night time soap he did in the 80s.
Well don't be afraid, but I have another disk to send you that I forgot to include the package. :P 8)
I still say Donny Osmond is groovy.

Obviously you read it wrong....before I edited it! ;D
I was thinking the same thing BeefCake wise, especially that guy he practiced his karate on - er - with.
That is the only episode I have ever found....and it certainly doesn't make much sense, science wise....but yes George looks fine. And Joyce is interesting....if not charismatic.
Did they ever record PARISIANETTE?
Or perhaps ASIANNETTE?
I still say Donny Osmond is groovy.
Remember in the words of Melissa Manchester's recording of "For Cryin'
Out Loud"
She painted on a smile and took up with some clown
While she danced without Annette upon the wire

I still think Donny Osmond is hot! :) I think he is better looking now than he was when he was younger and his voice is more mature now and has a wonderful voice, IMO!
Next, I watched Friday night's MONK. A fairly good mystery (I had no idea how the deceit was pulled off), but Shalhoub and Tralor Howard each overplayed their hands.
DR Elmore mentioned it the other night, but I'll say it, too. It was nice seeing Gregory Jbara. He looked very good.
I'm more interested in the lunatic who beheaded the guy on the Canadian Greyhound bus.
Nice fox!
Isn't the actor playing the doctor the same actor who played Barty Crouch, Jr. in HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE?
