Well, you've read the notes, the notes were like a shopping list, and now it is time for you to post until the shopping cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ARGILLACEOUS!
Smoke on your pipe and put that in.

All of a sudden, I have a headache. I don't like headaches. :P
-
Hi, George! Sending you some headache-be-gone vibes!

DR Jane, we missed you and were thinking about you and Keith. Continued comfort vibes to you!

Travel vibes to Ginny---I hope you and Hahahaha Richard have a great time in NY!

We had gelato last night in honor of DR Jose and JRand58's birthday.
Well...that was my story, anyway!
-
Hi, George! Sending you some headache-be-gone vibes!
Thanks, Edi! :-*
I did take some ibuprofen and that's already helping. I hate to try to sleep with a headache, and fortunately, it looks like I don't have to. :D

For ask bk day: I went to a spook show last Saturday night. One of our local indie theatres does this once a month. After the spook show, (which was more like a parody of spook shows but still fun) they showed a pristine print of Jacques Tournier's CURSE OF THE DEMON (the uncut British version).
My question: Did you ever go to spook shows and if so, which was the most memorable and why?

And the word of the day is: ARGILLACEOUS!

I don't know that I'll be able to take us all the way to Page 2. This is only 20 and there would be 10 more to go. I don't know if I have it in me.

Ralph Young, Sandler & Young Singer, Is Dead at 90
By FRANK PRIAL (New York Times)
Published: August 26, 2008
Ralph Young, a singer best known as the English-language half of the popular multilingual duo Sandler & Young, died on Friday at his home in Palm Springs, Calif. He was 90.
Mr. Young’s career spanned the big-band era, Broadway and television. He and his longtime performing partner, Tony Sandler, were particularly popular from 1966, when they signed with Capitol Records and recorded a spate of hits, through the prime of the television variety programs, especially Ed Sullivan’s. They were among the performers on the very last Ed Sullivan show to be televised by CBS, on June 6, 1971. (It was a rerun of a show originally broadcast on Feb. 7 that year.)
The two had an active nightclub and recording career together until Mr. Young retired from the act in 1983, when he was 65. He later made solo appearances.
Born Ralph Israel in the Bronx in 1918, Mr. Young sang in local clubs. After military service in World War II he moved up to the big bands, singing with, among others, Tommy Reynolds, Shep Fields and Les Brown. He later worked in nightclubs as a solo vocalist and in 1958 appeared in the short-lived Broadway musical “Whoop-Up.”
He met Mr. Sandler in 1963, when they both appeared at the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas in “Casino de Paris,” a revue imported from France. Mr. Sandler, a Belgian who was born Lucien Santele in 1933, had come from Europe with the show. Singing casually together between performances, the two became friends and hit on a formula they thought might work for them:
Since Mr. Sandler spoke many languages, they would blend Mr. Young’s English lyrics to a song with Mr. Sandler’s version in the original language. They also worked out routines in which Mr. Sandler sang one song in one language and Mr. Young sang a different song in another language as a countermelody. Others used similar techniques on occasion, but Sandler & Young turned a gimmick into a trademark, applying it often to romantic and inspirational material like “Dominique,” “For All We Know,” “C’est Si Bon” and a combination of “I Believe” and “Ave Maria.”
In their first engagement in a Las Vegas lounge, they were discovered by the comedian Phil Silvers, who urged the singer Polly Bergen to use them in her act at the Thunderbird Hotel. They were a quick success and became one of the most popular nightclub acts in show business.
Their recordings made them as well known in Europe as in the United States. Tony Sandler became an American citizen in 1971.
From the early 1960s the duo appeared on variety shows hosted by Johnny Carson, Red Skelton, Andy Williams, Merv Griffin, Mike Douglas, Dean Martin and Milton Berle, as well as Ed Sullivan.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Arlene; six children, Dr. Neil Young, Arleen Young, Ron Young, Guy Goldstein, Lauren Goldstein and Rachel Diaz; and eight grandchildren.
When he turned 65 in 1983, Mr. Young retired from the act to spend more time with his family in Palm Springs and Los Angeles. But he continued to perform solo engagements, mostly in Southern California. Mr. Sandler, two decades younger, is still active, singing American and European repertory in an act called “Chevalier: Maurice & Me.”
In 2003 Mr. Young teamed up once again with Mr. Sandler for a concert in Palm Springs to commemorate the 9/11 attacks.

I'm back (and still alone).
I forgot to ask. Was the TV version of the Fantasticks (Hallmark Hall of Fame 1964) with John Davidson as Matt, Stanley Holloway and Bert Lahr as the Fathers, Ricardo Montalban as El Gallo and Susan Watson as Luisa ever released in any form? Inquiring minds (Anthony) want to know.
Private replys are fine :D
Oops, I'm not on Cast Recording List right now I'm in a public forum.
Anyway, if anyone knows of a copy I would love to hear about it.
-
Atlanta here I come.
Scarlett, or Ashley? ;)
-
DR Ben - that was released as a bootleg from some guy with a website - I can get the information for you when I'm home if you wish. The price is quite reasonable, but the copy as issued is practically unwatchable. The video is OK, but the sound is wretched [every sustained note sounds like someone was hitting the pitch adjustment knob!].
-
And, of course, the entire show is condensed into less than one hour for television.
-
You're welcome to borrow my copy, if you wish.
-
We'll get to page 2, by hook or by crook!
By any various and sundried means.

...or not...

Morning TCB.
Does The Country's Best Yogurt still exist as a company? If you add a Y to TCB you get that acronym and I remember them from the 80s. It was a frozen yogurt chain. They had a store around 8th Street in the Village.

So they WILL get home! :D

Good morning, all! I had an absolutely fantastic time at the Mexican birthday dinner of the now 40-years-old Jose. I'm sure he stayed up all night unwrapping his birthday gifts.
Today, i've got to finish those Christmas charts. I've made an appointment for tomorrow afternoon to see my doctor, who doesn't seem capable of putting together symptoms as quickly as DRs Ben, Jose, and MBarnum, and I will ask him to test me for diabetes type 2. I think the ultrasound is important to rule out drastic stomach concerns, but I honestly believe it's diabetes. We'll see.
Welcome back, Nursie!
Congratulations, DR Michael Shayne.
I got the new GYPSY recording late yesterday afternoon, and I'm enjoying it quite a lot.

Andromeda Strain IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424600/) review:
Simply horrible: overblown made-for-TV-movie melodrama, poor acting, silly makeup effects and production design, bad direction. And a script that foolishly adds multiple, painfully obvious plot lines to the original story so that the taut and gripping plot of the novel is almost completely obscured. Despite having more running time than the 1971 movie, this soggy mini-series seems rushed to cram in all the stupidity it can.
Watch it at your peril,
BK - are you ghost writing?

GOSSIP GIRL starts next week. I'm not too happy to learn that the local Canadian station is moving it off their main network to one of their other stations that is not available in montreal. :(
And i don't get the CW. My sis has a dish and said she would tape it for me. ANd it might still be available online on the CTV site. But it sure sucks. It's one of my favorite shows. I hope CTV gets a lot of mail with displeased viewers. Even if they showed it at 1am or on saturday afternoons (they've been known to do this with shows they don't have room for) i would be happy.

RE: BIG BROTHER
DRs MBarnum and RonP what did you think of last night's show?
*

*
They actually did not show a key development in what really happened. Ollie and michelle had been laughing all week at dan and saying they would backstab him next week.
I am curious how you guys thought ollie was edited. To me he seemed overly cocky. And they didn't make dan look bad. But they did not show that ollie was going to reneg on his end!
Btw, they started to show ollie going slightly crazy after the pov ceremony. there is a rumor that there could be repercussions for him on thursday. Maybe penalty nom? Should be interesting. I watched on youtube what ollie and michelle did after the pov. And it was pretty funny. Hope they have time to show some of it.

Actually, I zonked out a little after midnight. I was up early yesterday, so... Or maybe I really am getting old(er)? ;)
Of course, my youngest brother, Jay, who lives in San Diego called me around 2:30am - 11:30pm his time - to pass on his Birthday Wishes to me. "Hey, shouldn't you still be out on the town right now in New York City?.... WOW! 40! We're all getting old!" :P

Tonight is the unsatisfying season finale of BONES, the one in which we learn the identity of Gormogon's apprentice. Since I've watched the show's reruns all summer to see how they set us up for this nasty revelation, I will watch this tonight (likely record it and speed through commercials).
I'm very exciting that the show returns with new episodes next week, and with a two hour season premiere set in London! Can't wait for that!

Well.. Just as long as it's all dried out by the time I get down there next weekend for the Fall SETC auditions. Although, now that I think of it, I don't seem to recall a Fall SETC in Charlotte where we've had any sort of inclement weather. -Unlike the Spring ones where we've dealt with torrential rains, snow, hail, and tornado-like conditions... And unfinished hotels.

Of course, we also have PROJECT RUNWAY tonight! I'll probably record that, too, and speed through commercials.

And nothing, nothing, nothing will EVER be the same! 8)

I totally didn't follow the logic of Dan's Veto Ceremony game. I knew what the outcome would be, but I hoped it would make sense to me.
I totally loved the outcome.
As for Jerry, his shenanigans need to be exposed on national TV. He is one nasty piece of work and he has more than sullied the honor of the various branches of the military whose emblems he wears on his caps. There's no fool like an OLD fool.

As I said last night, I'll be working on THE EXECUTIONER'S SONG today. I see from the box that it's 135 minutes. That's a large amount of cutting from the 4-hour miniseries version that originally aired. ANyway, I have such vague memories of the show that I'm looking forward to it.

Re the early Labor Day, and thus the early unofficial September 1 end of summer season: This will presumably be an interesting "test year' for whether the Jewish holidays really have the impact on Broadway box office that so many think it has, with the Jewish holidays not starting until the evening of Monday, September 29th.

Tonight i think we get episode 9 or 10 of season 3 (i think they are the last ones, maybe one more). i really really hope they continue with the new season.
Do you watch it on E!? We have E! canada here and they usually try to show a lot of what E! is showing. Only problem is their website is not very helpful. They don't have episode guides for the shows and they only tell you what episodes are on that week.
I haven't seen any of the publicity that janice has done so i'm not spoiled. But i would love to see seasons 1 + 2. I think they are available to watch online.

RE: the new Fall tv schedule.
Does anyone (maybe DR MattH) know when the new tv shows are featured in the mags. Or are there good places to look online?
I just noticed So YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA starts beginning of sept. One of the judges is from the US version (jean marc genereux). And dan and mary are alternating judges. We have a host i don't know. Oh and blake is one of the rotating judges as well (he was on the first or second season). I will be curious to see if it is anywhere near as good as SYTYCD US.

The show is carried on Oxygen here, so maybe you could try their website.
And as for the spoilers, well... Even with the way the "preview" from week to week, they usually end up including things that don't happen for a couple of weeks. And there have even been times when they previewed "something big", but then once they get to the "something big", you don't see the exact clip they used in the preview. In any case....
It's all about the eye candy anyway. Talk about a show that is so manipulated and manufactured for "dramatic effect"! -I mean, "high end clients" do not simply walk into an agency, ask to see some models, and then hire some of them on the spot... -Without first signing a release form. ;)

I
The new season for the networks other than Fox is still a few weeks away, so the major features on new shows in TV GUIDE and ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY I'd think will happen in a week or two. TV GUIDE usually breaks it into an issue on returning shows and an issue featuring the new ones. Certainly I'm keeping my eyes open.

Running through my mind:
Want leads the lines of love in circles and angles
Want runs deep like a tunnel with a pendulum beat
That touches the heart in many directions
Moving the mind in silent reflection
Of the angles and rhymes of the circles and lines
With the tunnels of love running over
Taking the mind and triangle rhyme
And twisting it to fill the cup of
Sunshine, love shine
Touching the fibers of the feeling inside you
Letting out the things you hide
That touches the heart in many directions
Moving the mind in silent reflection
Of the lines that touch the corners and fibers
Of the feeling that keeps running inside you
Cylinders of hope turning and yearning
Into pendulums of weary hesitation
Taking the line and triangle rhyme and twisting it
To bend the mind in all directions
It's love and want and need and all those things
Tearing you apart

Thank goodness the mind is a sieve....! ;)

Deadline nears on proposed L.A. County toll lanes
(http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-carpool27-2008aug27,0,7976962.story)
California lawmakers must approve a plan on the shared use of carpool lanes on the 110 and 10 freeways soon or risk losing federal funds for the project.
By Patrick McGreevy
Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
August 27, 2008
SACRAMENTO — State lawmakers are moving to allow lone motorists to use carpool lanes on congested stretches of the 110 and 10 freeways -- for a fee.
Vehicles carrying more than one person could still cruise in those lanes without charge under a proposal under consideration by the Legislature.
The measure must be passed by midnight Sunday or the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority risks losing a $210.6-million federal grant that would pay for toll plazas, road and rail improvements, and a fleet of clean-fuel buses that would run as a rapid line along the route.
"What will be extraordinary about this will be the impacts it will achieve in terms of traffic congestion relief, economic development and jobs, and the obvious environmental impacts it will have," said state Sen. Mark Ridley-Thomas (D-Los Angeles).
Ridley-Thomas, who is running for a seat on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, wrote legislation to implement the project with the federal money.
He gutted a bill that previously addressed high-speed rail and inserted the proposal for toll lanes.
The proposal, approved by the Assembly Transportation Committee this week, is already sparking controversy.
"This reflects a view that if you have money, you get to go in the fast lane and if you don't you are stuck in congestion," Sen. Jenny Oropeza (D-Long Beach) said during a Senate debate.
Comment to Ms Oropeza: No, you socialist nitwit, it means if you want added convenience you pay for it!

I have been insanely busy since virtually the moment we returned. Over the past few days I have managed to squeeze out arrangements/recordings of all the fun heavy metal stuff I'll be doing with the Pacific Pops this fall (still have my McGuire Sisters-esque "American Idiot" to do, if I have time), written reviews of several hideous to middling films (hint: don't bother with The Scorpion King 2, trust me), and done a PR blitz for the upcoming Performing Arts series I'm hosting starting in September. I'm very tired. :)

And I'm here to tell you it would make no difference whatsoever to traffic congestion. I drove in those lanes repeatedly during rush hour when I was doing the Brain in Anaheim, and they were frequently WORSE than the normal lanes.

CHEERS: THE CLOSER GOES FOR A CRUZ
Cheers to The Closer for giving Raymond Cruz a shot. The versatile actor (My Name is Earl, Training Day), who's often overshadowed by the showier members of the TNT drama's ensemble, stepped into the spotlight with an episode in which his character, Det. Julio Sanchez, lost his brother in a drive-by shooting. The story line was a cliché — Deputy Chief Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) warned him not to investigate because he was too close to the case, but Sanchez wouldn't listen — yet Cruz impressively ran a gamut of emotions from panic to shock to rage to grief. Perhaps it's no coincidence the episode was directed by another skilled actor, Kevin Bacon (Sedgwick's husband). He brought out the best in Cruz.
Nice to see Kevin Bacon getting some credit!

Well, you're right - once things really get jammed - Gornisht helfn!
However, in the "shoulder hours' - (when the rush is just beginning, or after it starts to taper off) - moving some vehicles from the regular to to HOV lanes should help even out the traffic flow.

I found out that Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and America's Next Top Model (CW shows) all start next week.
I think i remember from last year that is no longer a TV Guide in canada. So i guess i won' t be getting the magazine.
If there are any news shows that are supposed to be must see please post about them.
I think i will try the new 90210 (which starts on tues). And there is a mid-season show called Dollhouse which i will definitely watch.

Speaking of Raymond Cruz, I meant to mention last night that I was surprised to see him among the mercinaries in CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER along with Benjamin Bratt. I hadn't remembered that either of them were in the movie. Great surprise, and Raymond gave another very strong performance.
-
While I cooked and ate lunch, I was in the mood for a musical so I put on the Blu-ray of HAIRSPRAY. That music is just so infectious! Just love "Welcome to the 60s" and "You Can't Stop the Beat." I watched each of them several times.
-
Then I watched THE EXECUTIONER'S SONG. Good performances (Tommy Lee Jones won the Emmy that year against Anthony Andrews and Jeremy Irons in BRIDESHEAD REVISTED and Richard Chamberlain in THE THORN BIRDS; I think the wrong person won), but the direction is rather stodgy and Norman Mailer's screenplay, at least in this director's cut, muddles into mush the appeals section of the story.
So, it's a pretty good movie, but seems like I remember lots of excitement and discussion about the movie when it aired, and seeing this, I don't quite understand why.
-
I went ahead and broke open the PERRY MASON set to get a head start on reviewing that. I watched the first case and enjoyed it. Nice being with "old friends" again. The transfer looked very nice. It's from the 1959-1960 season, so it's quite old but looks excellent.

Back from a great lunch at Langer's - very hard to be a good boy, diet-wise, but I think I did well. I did end up having a pastrami sandwich with russian dressing and cole slaw - happily, they don't really pile on the meat like other places, so it was a pretty reasonable sandwich, big-wise, and I had one tiny piece of kishka. The boys ordered more food than I've ever seen on a table. Soup, potato pancakes, chopped liver, the kishka, and a sandwich each. It was SO hard not to sample the potato pancakes, but I didn't.

I shall try to be gracious and not let my newfound millions change me too much.

Since I fear that most of my income tax goes to a war in Iraq I neither support nor approve, I sent my Katrina money to the Red Cross.
I bought Publix gift cards with my Katrina money, and gave them to the evacuees we put up for several months. They were not illiterate, BTW, and one of them returned the favor by designing our SACCO AND VANZETTI poster and DVD cover. Thank you, Craig's List!
-
About halfway through the meal, a couple was seated at the booth right next to us (and butted up right against our booth). The guy was a real character and was staring at the kishka on our table. I told him what it was and that it was the best kishka ever, and we all struck up a conversation. He told us he was from Brooklyn and that he was a crook. Very funny. His gal pal didn't seem anything like him - reserved and didn't open her mouth, but he said they'd been together twenty years. We talked about Brooklyn, we talked delis, then he ordered a lot of the stuff we did. At the end of the meal, we said goodbye to him and told him how much we enjoyed the banter. Barry's friend and I went up to pay our portion of the bill, and when Barry joined us he told us he'd found out the guy's name. And, the guy telling us he was a "crook" turned out to be not so far-fetched. Let's just say that this guy's family was one of the biggest crime families ever, and clearly one of the models for the Sopranos, which he talked about lovingly, BTW (by the way, in Internet lingo). I wish I'd gotten his card - there are a few people I'd like him to have a conversation with :)
-

Ginny, which row are you sitting in?
Note re the elevator, only because of your foot: It's a lovely lovely theater space, but theater B is on the third floor (two floors up from street level). Until the house opens, they will only let you up to the bar area one flight up, but if you wait until the house opens (usually 8:05-8:10 for the 8:15 show), then the elevator will take you all the way up to the theatre B level two flights up on the third floor
If you're on the aisle (the most center seats 2,4,6 or 1,3,5) you may want to wait until the rest of your row is seated before sitting, to avoid having to let people pass you and avoid the very minimal risk of people stepping on your foot.

If I had known Keith was going to spend the next 4 hours helping his brother set up his new computer I would have gone for a walk & purchased a Jewish corn rye & a challah. By the time we left there was only enough time to stop by the hotel to freshen up and change. Oh well, next trip.
-
Thank you DR Edi.
-
DR Jane, my special patented get well vibes are going out to your friend!!

And I'm here to tell you it would make no difference whatsoever to traffic congestion. I drove in those lanes repeatedly during rush hour when I was doing the Brain in Anaheim, and they were frequently WORSE than the normal lanes.
Is The Brain in Anaheim a squel to that other BRAIN show?

Ask bk:
I notice there are several versions of Mario Bava's BLACK SUNDAY floating around---some even have different scores. I'd like to buy a copy of it, so which version would you recommend?
There shouldn't be that many now - the Image DVD is, I think, OOP. If you want the best copy, it's the one in the Bava box set - I don't remember if they ever put out that version as a stand alone title - I'll go check. Unfortunately, the only version that's on any of the discs is the original Eyetalian with the non-AIP American dub (done for the British release). It's got the original Roberto Nicolosi score, which is very good. However, the shame is that the AIP version, which has the Les Baxter score and a different English dub has never been available on DVD (it was on laserdisc).
-
Jane, I am glad to see that you are home safely, after what must have been a difficult trip.
-
DS Bryan began medical school so he couldn't attend the funeral. DS Craig is still searching for a job & flew out. He stayed with my brother, a convenient 2 miles from our Priceline hotel.
We stayed at the Hotel Angeleno, (http://www.beverlyhillsluxuryhotels.com/HotelAngeleno.shtml) right off the freeway with nowhere to walk. It was perfect for our situation but I hope it never comes up on Priceline again. If I do stay there again I’ll insist they provide us with more towels. The first night was fine, after that there seemed to be a shortage.
The trip was 4 nights traveling, plus 3 nights in L.A. Sherlock seems to be as exhausted as we are. We think he didn’t sleep all that well without us.
-
DR Jane, my special patented get well vibes are going out to your friend!!
Thank you.

Okay, yes, the new Black Sunday transfer is available as a standalone - here's the amazon link so you can see what the cover is:

Jane, I am glad to see that you are home safely, after what must have been a difficult trip.
Thanks. Oddly, or not so, we have had equally or more difficult trips down there. I'll tell you, it isn't fun crying when you don't have a cold, the combination was something. ;D
We kept wondering what else could complicate this, or add additional worry. Fortunately all went very smoothly once we arrived and up until Monday the news on my friend kept getting better & better.
-
Listening to a new import Bacharach collection - filled with tracks I've never heard before - some rare vocalists, and some songs I hadn't heard, along with a few rarities that I love, like Made In Paris (vocal by Trini Lopez), and Doris Day singing Send Me No Flowers - but some very rare stuff here.

This is the DVD I have, with two versions on it:

Link doesn't work - but by two versions, do you mean one in Eyetalian with subs and one in English - I know of no DVD with the AIP version.
-
DVD for tonight is one I know nothing about it - a mini-series co-production between BBC and HBO called Five Days. It sounds like the Dutch film The Vanishing, but I like this type of story so I'll give it a shot. Anyone seen it or heard of it?
-
TCB, here is the trailer for the new Bollywood comedy DOSTANA, featuring both John Abraham and the guy you fell for last week when I postd his photo, Abishek Bachchan...and it has a gay storyline!

I have no idea why that link came out so screwy, but it should still work.

I had this one and I guess I looked at the information on amazon.com too fast.

Yes, that's the old OOP Image disc - the new one is sharper and better.

Okay, here's a (potentially embarrasing) question: what does AIP mean? :-\

Bruce, I asked a question on page 5, but maybe because you were posting at the exact same time, plus the web site was down for a few seconds then, you just didn't see it. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and try not to take it personally. Or perhaps you did answer and I just can't find it amongst all the posts from pages 6 to 8...hmmmm.

DR Amy, I just watched the video of your nephew. I enjoyed it very much, especially how he interacted with the children.

I have a question about "The Broadway Radio Show" here at HHW. Does anyone still listen? I often forget if I'm not reminded that there is a new show up. How often does a new show get posted and is it still affiliated with HHW? What's the scoop?

One more.

TCB...only three more posts for a special number! ;)
-
Yes, the radio show is still here. Donald does go off on long jaunts from time to time - is there a current show up? I'll send him an e-mail and see what's up.
-
Amy, I'll go back and check out your question, which I must not have seen.

Okay, here's a (potentially embarrasing) question: what does AIP mean? :-\
American International Pictures, Sam Arkoff and James Nicholson's distribution company, which released the film in the US.
-
Episode one of Five Days is superb. Riveting. Must watch episode two now. The whole thing is six hours so I don't know if I'll finish this evening.
-
Bruce, since it's "ask BK day" and since I missed the initial rehearsal of "Jersey Men," when are you going to stage the show in L.A. again? Mark had wonderful things to say about it and wished I could have seen it.
Amy
We're looking at venues (I'll see one tomorrow evening), and when we choose one we'll set the date, probably in late October/early November.
Are you and Mark coming to our LACCTAA events - cheap and really good.
-
American International Pictures, Sam Arkoff and James Nicholson's distribution company, which released the film in the US.
Thanks for the info. :)

Well, I'm leaving work. I have a coupon for a local pizza place (Brewery City Pizza) and it expires tomorrow, so I'm going out tonight for some pizza. It's good...and I'll have more than enough to take home and have tomorrow. :D

Until later!

Well, Bruce, why didn't you tell me? I met a similar sort when I was down in Florida last month. And I DID get his name. ;)
(Maybe I shouldn't joke about this!)

DR FJL - thanks for all this info. We're in the Right Orchestra, Row B, Seats 2 & 4.
We will be attending Evening Prayer (6-6:20) at St. Mary's on 46th St., having a light supper, and then taking a taxi over to 59E59. I'm glad for the 8:15 start time
-
Richard and I are in for the night after a lovely dinner with our friends Doug & Jon at Cara Mia on 9th Ave. On our walk back home, we "just happened" to pass Amy's Bread, where we bought some baked goods for tomorrow's breakfast.

Five Days is great so far. I only hope they keep the level of greatness up in the final three episodes. Actually, I'm assuming there are five episodes since it's called Five Days. I'm on number three, which is the end of the first disc.
-
Morning all. It's 8:06am (according to my computer). I have work today and then
LUNCH TOMORROW WITH GINNY AND RICHARD. YAY!!!!!
Chat and Chew here we come.
Until then I'm busy with the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta.
OH! I really like Chat and Chew that sounds like fun!
-
Ginny - That sounds great. You're 3rd row, on the aisle running down the center.
I'm pretty sure I'll be in row F, also on the center aisle.
-
OK, tomorrow's plans are in focus, so I'm gonna crash.
'night!

Haven't caught up but we are starting to have a thunderstorm, so I better sign off.

Had quite a full evening of viewing. I began by skimming through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nada today and nada for tomorrow.
-
and I keep wondering what anyone sees in that skank Madonna . . .
I've never been a fan and I've never understood her appeal. But then, I don't get "modern" pop music anyway.
-
I'm BAAAAAAAAAACK
-
Jane, my deepest condolences to you and Keith and the boys on the loss of Keith's Mom
I will keep your friend in my prayers
-
Is this the laserdisc version? I saw several copies of this on ioffer.com but there weren't many product details.
I'll probably go for the 2007 transfer that you posted.
-
Next I began watching I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY, and I only got about half an hour in and had to turn it off. I couldn't stand it. The premise was absurd, the jokes landed with a thud, and Adam Sandler wasn't hunky (though all those girls hanging on him suggested he was), he was creepy and dreadfully unappealing.
-
Edi- I just got the tubecard! Thanks!!
-
Belated birtday wishes to two of my favorites, Jack & Jose!!
-
So, I went back to PERRY MASON episodes and watched two more. I got the right killers in both episodes. That leaves me with 9 more episodes to watch in this set.
-
Also to Jose and Jack
-
So far, the most famous person to show up as a guest star has been Fay Wray with Ned Glass also in the same episode.
-
Health Vibes to dear elmore, youare always ontehprayer list but I guess I have to pray a bit harder to keep up with you!!
-
Loved the singing card!!
-
Welcome to New York Ginny and Richard!
-
I did watch BONES which was actually the final two episodes of the season strung back-to-back.
Nice to see the gorgeous Ace Young in the episode. I wonder if he'll cut his hair to play Keneckie in the GREASE revival or will he wear a wig? I'm guessing he'll go with a wig.
-
And, of course, I watched tonight's PROJECT RUNWAY. I couldn't really complain about either the chosen winner or loser tonight.
But I was overall impressed with almost all of the designs and the execution. They really stepped up to the plate and hit homer after homer this week.
-
AS promised, some pix from Saskatoon

Good Evening!
Well, it was another amazingly glorious day here in NYC, so I made sure to spend as much of it outside in the thick of it, so to speak, as I could today. A perfect day-after-birthday day.
-
Vixter and her Canadian cousin, currently in Toronto trying to break into the the "biz"
-
And if anyone is wondering... A scoop of Strawberry and a scoop of Pistachio from Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream (http://www.vanleeuwenicecream.com/)

That's a bootleg you do not want. Get the one from amazon - it's the best transfer, really sharp, and good sound and it's uncut.
-
DR vixmom - You all look amazing in those pics! Beautiful!
*And is the Canadian cousin's name either "James" or "Tony"? He looks familiar to me.

vixmom, I hope your book package was there when you returned. Please tell me it got there safe and sound.
-
well it is late so I must toddle of bedwards

I'm still full from my pastrami sandwich eaten at one o'clock. How can that be? One not so huge pastrami, and one little section of kishka - it doesn't even seem as big as a foot-long Subway club.
-
Now for the last two episodes of Five Days.
-
vixmom, don't keep me in suspense for heaven's sake.
-
She's keeping me in suspense.

I told him he should get himself to New York, he has done some behind the scenes work with Second City . Currently he is helping put together some sort of comedy troupe

Vixmom, those are such wonderful photos. You and the Vixter are absolutely beautiful.

I see a new JoseSPiano avatar. Cute.

Hmm.. OK. Do you happen to know he's submitted himself for either Disney or Jersey Boys in Toronto? Maybe I've seen his 8x10 before.

I have some computer maintenance stuff to do, and then I'm heading down to bed.
Good night!

Bruce, actually the book was in the mail when we got home yesterday and I have already finished it (and it was lots of fun!) and the Vixter is half way through
and don't nag, we will do writeups on Amazon

Ron Pulliam and Jennifer...BB10 was great!!! I can't wait to see Michelle get the boot!
I so admire Dan!
-
Who were those beautifull, blonde Vixwomen!!!!!!!!
-
DR Jennifer, when BB10 began my favorites were Jerry, Michelle, and April.
My least favorites were Renny, Keesha, and Dan.
Now it is totally opposite! LOL!
Ollie is the only one I have liked consitantly the whole season...although I am not rooting for him to win.

I do not know.
I told him to consider Disney even if its the Epcot Canadian pavilion, just to get his foot in the door -
Well, Disney is always auditioning in Toronto for all their various operations (-Land, -World, Tokyo, etc.). In fact, the Cruise Line rehearses their shows there.
-
Vixmom, you do know that the time has now come in which you will have to lock the Vixter in her room until she is 30.
-
Condolences and vibes to DR JANE and KEITH.
-
I am not sure, DRJANE - but perhaps I will retake the photo to get the result you suggested.
-
I went to see my friend Croft Vaughn - in from Brooklyn - who was doing his show in the Indy Fringe Festival.....it was pretty good.
He wrote the one man piece...although he didn't direct it....it was about an hour and had some laughs and a few tears and a couple of songs....

I don't think this one is a remake of an old AIP (and now George knows what that means) flick....but it came out about the same time as another movie called IT'S ALIVE about a mutant baby....this is NOT the mutant baby movie....
-
And I found the following quite interesting too...
When the presidential race began, they had banners announcing "Free Hot Dogs On Inauguration Day!"... But that was only if Bloomberg was being sworn in.
-
DR JOSE it looks like you had more fun on your birthday than I did on mine, but now I want some ice cream.
Sounds like DR GINNY and DH RICHARD are getting into the New York Groove.
DR JEANNE glad you got a good reading - even on the innerweb!

Papaya Hot Dogs?
-
DR Ginny - Well, my schedule is pretty open this week, so... Do you have dinner plans pre-South Pacific yet? -I'd join you guys tomorrow for lunch, but tomorrow is a work day for me.
-
Papaya Hot Dogs?
Well, hot dogs and papaya drinks.
Alas, Gray's Papaya's own site seems to be down at the moment, but here's the website for a related site/foodstand: Papaya King (http://www.papayaking.com/index.htm)
*Be sure to remind DR MBarnum about his "Papaya King" story sometime. ;)

Richard and I are in for the night after a lovely dinner with our friends Doug & Jon at Cara Mia on 9th Ave. On our walk back home, we "just happened" to pass Amy's Bread, where we bought some baked goods for tomorrow's breakfast.
And I bet I walked right past you while I was walking up Ninth Ave. on my way back from the webisode filming. I almost stopped into Amy's Bread myself, but the line was basically out the door, so... -And then I remembered I still had some macarons here too. ;)
-
It is Papa Yaking!

It is Papa Yaking!
I still can't walk down 23rd Street without thinking about that cab ride and :).

And I didn't know until I read her obituary that we have the same birthday! May 5 (different years, of course ;)).

Okay, I'm watching "Nightline" with Terry Moran and he introduced tonight's episode about Barack Obama getting the Democratic presidential nomination today. This is exactly what he said:
"The Democratic Party gave its presidential nomination, and it seemed their heart and soul and the muscle and bone and sinew of their political organization, to Barack Obama, the son of a black man from Kenya and a white man from Kansas. Now, no matter what your politics, that is a moment for the history books."
:o "...the son of a black man and a white man"??
Yup, that would certainly make the history books!! ;D
