Well, you've read the notes, the notes were labored, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently doing an impression of Caroline, the Moo Cow.
-
And the word of the day is: FRENUM!
-
And a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to Miss Swishy Sarah - she doesn't come around often anymore, but she's a terrific gal.
-
Welcome fourteen GUESTS.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to (former) DR SwishySarah!
-
Today, I'm ushering for a local production of "Psychopathia Sexualis (http://www.harlequinproductions.org/seasonpages/08/sexualis.html)." It sounds like a fun show. Here's the description:
A young artist is engaged to be married to a beautiful, wealthy oil-heiress, but he has a problem. Without his Father’s argyle socks, he is “less than a man.” But it gets worse. With his wedding date rapidly approaching, his psychiatrist has stolen his socks. He turns to his erudite and debonair “best friend” to help him, but worldly elán is no match for Dr. Block. Enter the fiancé, a rootin’-tootin’ Texas cowgirl that won’t let man, nor beast, nor evil shrink stand in the way of her happiness. A delightful and inspiring comedy about deciphering what is important and what is not.
I didn't know that DR Elan was a character in this play! ;D
-
And on that note (E-natural), I'm off to bed.
Good night, BK and guests. :)
-
Now there's a word of the day to be reckoned with in some circles!
For some reason Neil Young's "The Needle and The Damage done" came to mind.

HAPPY HAPPY HHW BIRTHDAY

Cake for everyone! :D

DR Ginny - Glad that you and DH Richard enjoyed the play, and that your foot didn't get stepped on in the Times Square stampede!
-
And the word of the day is: FRENUM!
It does make one tongue-tied.

Note: not this "one" :)
-
Have a great Sunday everyone.

Happy birthday to swishy sarah!
-
All I remember about Swishy Sarah is that she called my posts boring and something else....NOT good.
Yes she is delightful.

Good morning, all! I awoke at 2 am with itchy eyes and a dry mouth, which means I'm dehydrating. I've also had a charley horse this morning, not good. and I am heading back to the ER.
Since my blasted doctor didn't think it important to see me until Tuesday afternoon, and I have no idea what my blood sugar level is, I think I'd better head up there. What's infuriating is, I felt really good yesterday. I believe I ate correctly - mostly veggies, fruit and a couple of slices of whole wheat bread with peanut butter - - a cup of low-fat yogurt and a couple of eggs, but I've had no dietary advice from HIP since I was released from the ER three days ago, I'm a moron and I'm frankly a bit scared.
I'm hoping I'm back soon and ready to partay tonight, but that's to be determined by the ER.

More health vibes for Larry

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (former) DR SWISHY SARAH, she of the chat-dance!
-
Sunday morning greetings! We're about to leave for 11am mass at St. Mary's and then will head down to Chelsea to pick up our ...80 Days tickets. We'll entertain ourselves there and get some lunch until the 3pm curtain.
DR Elmore, Dr. Richard says to tell you that one of the best things for leg cramps is adequate calcium intake. And it can't be accomplished with food, but supplemental tablets. Do not let them give you quinine - John almost died from taking that!
Hope to see you tonight!
-
Good morning!
I've already closed the house up and turned the A/C back on. It was getting very hot and humid very quickly.
-
Good thoughts accompany DR Elmore on his ER visit today.
-
It rained during the night thwarting my plans to mow the front yard this morning. I'm going to let the sun dry the yard out and maybe mow about 11:30 (or try to). If it's still wet, I'll try tomorrow morning.
-
Well, I couldn't wait to watch it, so after I finished the newspaper this morning, I watched the first side of the 1936 SHOW BOAT laserdisc. I have no doubts that the DVD will look better, sharper when it's finally released, but I hope they do some digital clean-up on it. It's filled with debris on the Criterion version. This time I watched it with the Kreuger commentary off. I hadn't watched just the movie itself in a long time.
-
Right now, the plans are that I'll begin watching LIFE's firstbseason episodes this afternoon and evening. However, my boss suggested I might want to work on KILL BILL on Blu-ray, so that may be substituted if he wants that review up quickly.
-
I do remember Swishy Sarah from the chats we used to do once upon a time, but I don't remember seeing her here in quite some time.

(((((DR Elmore)))))
I think you'll find you need a mostly meat and vegetable diet, with limited fruit and starch.
But what do I know?
-
CAKE! It's a good thing.
Vibes to Larry. One of the most important things is to try NOT to get stressed about it-- that just just messes up blood sugar levels even more.
-
Gotta go dance in the shower and let the water flow over my firm flesh and shiny tresses. :P ???
-
Yes, plus we all want Kerry to smell good in church today.
-
See ya about 10:15, Kerry!
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I wonder if Dr. Green Eyes is back on-call this morning? ;)
-
Skip is cooking up a storm as we speak (or type).
Larry - hope you're able to come. If you have your cell phone, please keep us posted.
-
Otherwise...
I text'd Larry a little while ago, asking him to call me if he needs anything. I have some stuff I need to take care of here at the apartment, but after I'm done, I'll try to head back down to the hospital to see how things are going.
In the meantime....

When I finally arose, I thought it was really late but it really isn't.

OK - Well, I need to run the vacuum, and spiff up the bathroom for the guests (of my other roommate) who will be here later this afternoon... And then I'll head back down to visit and check in on DR elmore.

DR Elmore, upon your return be sure to start using you blood glucose meter. It is very simple to use. Just poke, squeeze, insert, and wait for the little number to pop up on the screen. Then you can keep track of how high, or low, you blood sugar is.

Oh yes, the other word that girl used to refer to me was Pretentious.
Delightful girl.
As I sit here in the drawing room, looking at my etchings, and listening to Mahler, I can think of no more pretentious person than I.
-
On this last day of August 2008, I would feel terribly remiss if I did not point out a couple of errors in der Brucer's posting of yesterday evening: ;)
Indeed!
The Mayor of New Orleans has ordered a mandatory evacuation.
The issue is not will their be victims, but rather, where will the victims be.
The Republicans have tough choices to make, To hold a celebratory convention while people are running for their lives is not a good idea.
One of the prime reasons for a convention is to get PR - and now all eyes will be on the Gulf Coast, not the Twin Cities.
The logistics of postponing the convention are horrendous - in fact it is well neigh impossible; rearranging thousands of hotel accommodations and convention space on short notice just can't be done.
One way or another, the Republican Party must meet in convention to conduct the business of the company.
I suspect the convention will proceed on schedule with a re-arrangement of activities and a radical very definite change in tone.
der Brucer
Third line: Should read: "The issue is not will there be victims..."
Sixth line (middle section): Should read: "... in fact it is well nigh impossible;"
;D
Mind you, I'd never have brought it up except that someone took such recent glee in correcting another DR!

I am using still a DIFFERENT program to try to burn this darn DVD.....whew

LATIMES (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/movies/la-ca-25filmsintro31-2008aug31,0,595627.story)
The 25 best L.A. films of the last 25 years
Which films have best captured the city we love? Our choices may surprise you.
August 31, 2008
"LOS ANGELES isn't a real city," people have said, "it just plays one on camera." It was a clever line once upon a time, but all that has changed. Los Angeles is the most complicated community in America -- make no mistake, it is a community -- and over the last 25 years, it has been both celebrated and savaged on the big screen with amazing efficacy.
Damaged souls and flawless weather, canyon love and beach city menace, homeboys and credit card girls, freeways and fedoras, power lines and palm trees . . . again and again, moviegoers all over the world have sat in the dark and stared up at our Los Angeles, even if it was one populated by corrupt cops or a jabbering cartoon rabbit.
A few weeks ago, a group of Los Angeles Times writers and editors sat down to celebrate our celluloid city by selecting the 25 films from the last 25 years that best speak to the essential DNA of the Southland. We started with two simple ground rules: The movie had to communicate some inherent truth about the L.A. experience, and only one film per director was allowed on the list, a guideline that kept City of Angels specialists such as Michael Mann, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Altman and Paul Thomas Anderson from dominating.

DR Elmore, upon your return be sure to start using you blood glucose meter. It is very simple to use. Just poke, squeeze, insert, and wait for the little number to pop up on the screen. Then you can keep track of how high, or low, you blood sugar is.
What I'm worried about is...
DR elmore was mentioning how he couldn't get the blood glucose meter he bought to work, however, after thinking about it, I wonder if his home glucose meter is having the same problem that the one in the ER did: his blood sugar level was so high that is was not registering as a number, just as "RR" - whatever that means. -The nurse was thinking that it could have stood for "Really, Really High". ;) :-\
So, now I'm wondering if his home meter was working, but just wasn't able to give him a reading over the past few days. Yes, by the time he left the ER the other day, they were able to get a numerical reading, but it was still on the (very) high side. Hmmm... Hopefully, he brought his meter with him to the hospital in order have it checked out, and to get some guidance on how to use it.
Well, that's probably too much information for this public forum...
-
Otherwise, I just finished cleaning up the apartment a bit, and shall now get ready to head out and back down to St. Luke's. I'll have my iPhone with me, so I'll should be able to post an update from the ER.
-And, yes, I shall continue to the Bearer of Good Vibe-ings.

Hello, everybody, and thank you for the support! My blood sugar level is currently at around 238, but when I went in, right after eating breakfast, it was 428, so I wasn't off thr charts but I didn't know that since in my ineptitude I managed to break the $60 glucose tester I purchased on Friday!
There's something about instructional manuals, whether for appliances, cel phones, assembling shelves, or making your glucose tester work, that I cannot read. It's as though they're written in one language, perhaps English, translated to Japanese, and at some point translated to English by someone who knows the language second-hand. Show me how it works, don't give a booklet that makes no sense to me.
Yeah, I wasted $60.00.
-
I meant to add, as well, that the wonderful staff at St Lukes think its's a matter of getting the medication adjusted now, so that's promising.
I had an interesting visit with the wife of the older gentleman in the neighboring bed in my space when I arrived; a composer named Ed Lipton, who's written several children's things. I liked his wife very much. When he was moved out, my neighbor was an elderly gay German gentleman and his partner, now retired, also German.

I meant to add, as well, that the wonderful staff at St Lukes think its's a matter of getting the medication adjusted now, so that's promising.
VIBES THEY ARE CORRECT!
I'm glad you had entertaining company & staff at the hospital.
-
From what I'm reading, your having blood sugar problems, Dr Elmore. Guess what? So am I. :(
I'm "playing" with it right now. One time I go to the doctor and I'm one or two points into having diabetes. The next I'm two or three points below.
Like you, I don't really understand it. I haven't been told to get a meter or been put on any meds or a diet or anything. I don't even know which type I'm supost to have.
-
DR Jane, I'm so sorry to hear about Keiths Mom.
-
Very good news DR Elmore.
And nice to see DR Denise!
And happy birthday to Swishy. i'm pretty sure she's been around once or so this year.
Thank you DR Jennifer.

Another day where the heat and humidity rose at an unbelievably fast rate. It's just ghastly outside, so the mowing will have to wait until early tomorrow morning.
-
I watched the second side of the SHOW BOAT laserdisc. Always makes me tear up to see the lovers reunited. Even in that old age makeup, Allen Jones was incredibly gorgeous. And it's always nice to hear a tenor role being sung by a tenor.
Helen Morgan is simply heartbreaking singing "Bill." She was ROBBED of an Oscar nomination for her performance.
-
Then I watched three and a half episodes of LIFE. The one I only got partly through was the murder case involving the gay couple. I remember how it ended, but it's still enjoyable seeing him get to the solution.
-
Thank you DR Danise.
Have your researched diets to prevent diabetes? Also what you eat before the test effects the results. Did you fast first?
-
Of these first four episodes, I had missed episode #2, so it was brand new for me. All very entertaining episodes, but I can see why the show hasn't become a hit. The continuing story arc involving his investigation into the murder that he was convicted for would be very confusing for anyone tuning in for the first time but had missed the first, say, three episodes.
-
The pilot episode had a commentary attached. There were too many people present (5), but it's SO entertaining hearing Damien Lewis speak in his own way rather than affecting an American accent. Just like listening to Matthew Rhys on BROTHERS & SISTERS commentaries, it's like two different people completely.
-
There were also a couple of deleted scenes connected with episode #3. So far, those are the only bonuses in the set, but that's only disc one. There are two other discs in the set.
I should have no trouble finishing disc two tonight.
-
Thank you DR Danise.
Have your researched diets to prevent diabetes? Also what you eat before the test effects the results. Did you fast first?
I do fast but no I haven't done alot of research. I've been been having to many other ups and downs to really worry about it.
You can really tell there is a storm in the Gulf. The wind is picking up but no rain yet. If you could look at our the local radar, you could see it just off the coast.
My heart goes out to those in it's path.
-
Hey, DR Danise! I've been wondering if you're safe from this storm.
-
Don't worry about me, DR Elmore, I'm more worried about YOU!

Heading down now to clean my bathroom, put away the folded laundry, and then get back to the very cute Damien Lewis.

Back from a quick visit to Cinecon, where I got something extraordinary - I'll try to scan at least a big portion of it because I know it will make some people here smile.
-
No one in the jernt but me? At two-twenty? I'm afraid this will NOT do, oh, no, this will NOT do.
-
Okay, six GUESTS - shall I just close her down? WUSSBURGERING at two-thirty must pay the price ($6.17) - this sort of unseemliness should not go unrewarded.
-
So nice to see Danise today! You've been missed around here, my friend.
-
Happy Birthday to Swishy Sarah!
-
I got this incredible photograph today - a long inscription by Nick Adams to a critic who liked his performance in a Wagon Train episode. The theater is my beloved Wiltern - right around the corner was my father's restaurant - both of which I write extensively about in all three Kritzer books. I'm sure I saw this double bill back then. The photo itself is washed out, color-wise, but the click of a button on my scanner fixed that beautifully. I LOVE this photo, and the inscription is just dear. There's quite a bit more picture information on the right-hand side - too big for the scanner.
-

Thank you for not taking photographs of DR Elmore's Discharge. (It would have ruined the day for Toby and Dylan).

Dear Movie people - is there any news yet on the DVD releases of:
Isadora
Lili
Travels With My Aunt.
-
I was sort of bummed a few minutes ago, because earlier i had looked in my tv to check out this week's premiere of AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL (making sure when it was on). And it wasn't listed.
It really bugs me that we do not get the CW here. And the channel that has carried it every year (city tv) apparently is not showing cycle 11. It is on CTV's A station (same as gossip girl) which is not available in quebec. I don't get why they keep doing this. I'm guessing that ANTM must have viewers!
I still have not found any way to watch GG (although my sis said she'd record it for me). But i was going thru every channel i could think of and apparently STAR will replay ANTM on saturdays. So i can see it on sat sept 6th instead of wed sept 3rd. So that's at least okay. But it had not occured me to that City tv would stop showing it!
-
My muscle is doing okay. It won't hurt and then it will. I was trying to be quite careful. But i spent most of the day at the park having a picnic. And when i was alone with my niece and her friend they wanted to go on the swings. So i had to pick them up. Her friend is light as a feather. But not my niece. Luckily i did not take them out!
I've been icing. And taking the homeopathic meds. So hopefully that will help.
-
Oh and legally blonde the reality show started airing here last week. So tonight is episode 2. I had already seen the first 5 or 6, although on the computer, not on tv.
It's sort of funny knowing who won, and who i liked. And watching the comments the judges made to them.
-
Neat photo, BK!

Good Evening!
Greetings from Fred & Skip's!
Yummers!
-
What's the yummers? Details, especially after the crap I ate from Gelson's. I keep saying never again and should stick to my guns. I had a couple of chicken tenders and some of their lobster salad and a tiny bit of chicken and noodles in glop, just to see what it was like. That's the meal o' the day, but what a waste. I'd have been better off with a Subway turkey sandwich.
-
I sadly left a very merry group at DR FJL's and Skip's, but I'm ready for bed since I slept so poorly last night.
DR vixmom looks amazing and the vixter is turning into a beautiful high school girl. I wish DR Ginny and Richard a safe trip tomorrow. As for my local boys, DR Jose never fails to amaze me and Skip and FJL have the classiest salon in town.
Skip's dinner was wonderful: fried chicken, a fantastic green salad, a wnderful loaf of bread, and I even had a very small slice of blueberry pie and homemade ice cream. I was very careful, I believe, and it was all very very tasty.
I will take my meds, have a bit of snack and ready myself for bed.

I just returned from a DVD release party here in Tacoma. Now, this is not a common occurrence for Tacoma, even on a Labor Day weekend; but this was the latest release from DEAD Gentlemen Prodcutions which is based in Tacoma. The new DVD is THE GAMERS: DORKNESS RISING.
Now, I do not claim to be a gamer (I don't know a dungeon from a dragon), but since this was filmed locally and features several actors who are my friends; I attended the party, I purchased my copy, and had it signed by cast and crew. Tonight, I plan on watching the DVD, even though I probably won't understand most of it.
BTW: The guy in the dress on the cover, played Charlie's Aunt in the production that Jed and I did two years ago. Do we see a pattern developing?
The movie was a big hit at both Com Con and Gen Con this summer. Also, the film is available for rent from Netflix, or for puchase from Amazon and Blockbuster Video.
-
Thanks for Sharing that DR TCB
(I mistakenly was seduced by the pic and did not realise it was a post from you. Is this your first in some months?)
I too don't know my Dungeon from my Dragon. I have never even played Pacman or Space invaders etc. (I did venture into the world of Carmen Santiago with my students).
I believe Jed is a player of such games!
-
I just finished listening to Ben review GYPSY on the BBC. What a wonderful speaking voice.
-
Sleep well DR elmore!
-
I wonder if anyone has been listening to DR's Ben's review of "Gypsy"
-

Tom! What a surprise! How are things in Vienna? you should really post more often. I am sure many people have missed seeing you online.

Unfortunately I have to wait for the CD to hear his beautiful voice.

Lovely to see you here too. Has the fishing season finished so soon?
I'm hoping to purchase a copy of "The Baker's Boy" by J V Jones today. (My adoptive Dad was a Baker).
Of course I shall need the German Language version.
-
DRs tomovoz and TCB - may you meet in Glocca Morra some fine day.
-
Unfortunately I have to wait for the CD to hear his beautiful voice.
I do will wait for the next CD. Of course it will sound way better than listening to Patti who would have been better getting a gimmick - like singing.
-
Was Glocca Mora that Hungarian Soprano with the reputation for Dwarf throwing?
-
DRs tomovoz and TCB - may you meet in Glocca Morra some fine day.
Thank you, Mr. D. Nice to see you posting. I hope to see more of you! ::)
-
For the people in a parallel universe - will tomorrow's Word of the day be "consort".
Hopefully that is obscure enough.
-
We are also "home" after a lovelier than lovely dinner party at Fred & Skip's. They are such thoughtful hosts and, as you've heard from DR Elmore, the food was fantastic. My first taste of the famous fried chicken didn't disappoint and the salad and bread (which Richard really liked) were the perfect accompaniments. Dessert was outstanding, too.
We went directly to the party after seeing Around the World in 80 Days at the Irish Rep. It was very well done, with only 5 actors and 2 sound effects people. Some very clever performances and quite an enjoyable afternoon.
-
(Imagine me waving my hands about and attempting to impersonate Dick Tufeld.)
Warning! Warning!
I will not be scorekeeping tomorrow, at least not for the first half of the day.
I'm scheduled to work from 6:30 in the morn (that's nrom spelled backwards) until 12:30 just past noon (that's noon spelled backwards).
Of course, things could end up very much like today. Today, two cashiers called out, and I was asked to stay an extra three hours. This made for a nine-hour day, which made for some nice overtime, but it also left me quite exhausted. If the same sort of scenario sticks on the 'morrow, I may not be in good mental shape for scorekeeping until I get a good nap, which means not until the very last hours of the day.
Just thought I ought to warn you.
(It occurs to me that almost nobody is going to get that Tufeld reference, at least not without looking it up. Such is life.)

Didn't I see that show in Ohio?
-
Thank you, Mr. D. Nice to see you posting. I hope to see more of you! ::)
You can see as much of me as you like. ;)
-
Tufeld's best known role - one of the reasons I loathed the stupidity of Lost in Space! (I did look up the reference)
(I guess I was just too old for it)
-
You can see as much of me as you like. ;)
;D
-
But then I find "Ugly Betty" stupid as well. I just don't buy the "concept".
-
Didn't I see that show in Ohio?
;D
-
Ginny, who did you see as Emile and Nellie in SP?
-
Thank you for the report on the Skip and Fred show.
BUT what of Toby and Dylan?
-
Ginny, who did you see as Emile and Nellie in SP?
When I first saw SOUTH PACIFIC as a young lad (yes, it had just opened) I couldn't understand why the guy was named Oatmeal. Of course, I thought the name Emile was pretty strange, as well.
-
It is actually getting a little chilly here this evening.
-

...
BTW: The guy in the dress on the cover, played Charlie's Aunt in the production that Jed and I did two years ago. Do we see a pattern developing?...
Yes, and the pattern was featured in McCall's.
;)
-
Der B will be wanting his nightly food. I'm seving breakfast for dinner tonight.
-
Good Evening!
Well, I was going to head home for a bit before heading to my next party, but I ended up running into some friends as I was walking up Tenth Avenue, so... After chatting with them for a bit, I headed over to Times Square. I'm currently sitting in the strangely quiet and empty lobby of the Marriott Marquis taking advantage of the WiFi and reading and posting.
-
Watching a Euro-crime thriller. Didn't we have some Nick Adams fans on here?
-
As has been recounted by the other DRs in attendance, tonight's dinner at Fred and Skip's was just wonderful. -And Toby and Dylan seemed to be particularly attentive hosts tonight too.
Yes, pics were taken of the people and the food, but I won't be able to post them until I get home later on tonight or tomorrow morning.
-
DR Danise - Hi! :)
*And it's good to know that you're out of harm's way of/with the current storm and the one a few weeks ago.
-
Watching a Euro-crime thriller. Didn't we have some Nick Adams fans on here?
I thought the photo was great. I remember my grandmother telling me about Nick Adams.
-
It is actually getting a little chilly here this evening.
Here, too. Only 90 degrees. Brrrrrrr.
-
DR SWW - Thank you for your Warning. However, not to dismiss all of your efforts and hard work over the past couple months of Mondays, I am sure we will all be able to keep track of the names - or, at least, "remind" people of any names already listed - on our own until your "return". -Well, maybe except for bk and DR macchus ;) (who only seems to post on Initials Day anyway).
*Although, frankly, since tomorrow is a holiday, Labor Day, I was thinking it would be nice to take a "holiday" from the Initials too.
-
But that's just me.
-
Good evening one and all!
-
Vibes to DR Elmore! ~~~~~~
-
DR SWW - You mentioned your "mental health" in regards to your possible overtime. I hope that you are also watching your physical health too. I ain't heading down to an ER in Delaware too! ;)
*Although, if the doctors and residents are hunky at your local hospital too, well.... ;D
-
It was 90 here today DR Laura....
-
Elmore, I send positive thoughts your way...
TAke care of yourself SWW....
-
And spare a thought DRs for Maureen Bailey in Tasmania today/tommorow,
Yes another year has gone by since OzDerek left us.
(((Tom)))) ((((Maureen))))
-
From reading the posts of the HHW gathering in NYC, it sounds like a fine time was had by all...
-
Ginny, who did you see as Emile and Nellie in SP?
DR TCB - we saw Paulo Szot and Kelli O'Hara. The only original cast member who was out was Danny Burstein, so we saw his understudy as Billis. There was a lot of Danny in his performance.
I think, considering we've been here on a holiday weekend, that we've been extremely lucky to see so few replacements. There was just the one in South Pacific and one in The 39 Steps.
-
I have been searching for a new internet provider. I am getting tired of poor dailup service in this neck of the woods.
Alas... I do not have much to pick from. The dailup service I have now does have dsl in most parts of the country but not in this neck of the woods. Cable internet is ridiculously expensive here. I am hoping to find out if another company provides dsl or at least narrowband access.
-
So, DakotaCelt, are you going to be moving to Utah in the near future?
-
I told Richard earlier this afternoon that aside from our house, our family, and my job, there's really NO reason for us to leave NYC tomorrow.
I have regained my grip on reality and packed my suitcase to the extent that one can do that the night before :'(
-
It was so nice to see DRs Vixmom and Vixter this evening, too! I appreciate their making the trek into the City as much as I appreciate DR Jose making so much time to spend with us over the past several days.
-
DR Ginny & DH Richard, SAFE & EASY TRAVELS HOME!
-
Thanks, Jane. He's already crashed and I'm about to do the same. We're going over to Rockefeller Center to try to meet my long-lost college friend at 9am tomorrow, then come back here to perform out move-out duties on the apartment and head for the airport about 2pm.
'night!
-
Toby and Dylan thank you all for dropping food, I mean, dropping in.
-
Since tomorrow will be a holiday, everyone should be right here, contributing names by the dozens! We should have the most names ever for a Name Game!!
I mean, what else do you guys have to do???
(Der Brucer can do the scorekeeping. I taught him everything he knows. ;D)
-
And with that, I'm going to catch a few more winks.
Meaning, get some more sleep.
I'll have enough winking customers tomorrow. :D
-
I was sorry I couldn't stay & chat while Danise was here. I suddenly realized I was going to be late to see TROPIC THUNDER. It was just what we needed to cheer us up. :)
-
I have some more
evidence shrubs to plant.
-
Hi DR DANISE!!! So nice to see you around here.
Hello to DR DAKOTA CELT and vibes on finding your new IP!!
DR ELMORE...the world is waiting for the answer...exactly how did it feel about being bussed?
-
MR BK - I am so glad you found the picture that Nick sent to me so many years ago. I thought it was lost forever, please return it to me post haste at the usual address.
The Wiltern, isn't that the theater where Carol Burnett worked, as was driven a little crazy by having to listen to BOMBER B-52 a hundred times in a couple of weeks?
-

Hi Dakota.
I know how you feel. After years of petitioning our part of the county finally got DSL & we are very grateful. Fortunately we had 1 or 2 people from the phone company petitioning on our behalf.
-
Love the photo...can you quote the inscription in full for us?
We thought Nick was great as Johnny Yuma. I think i appreciate his performances more now than I did way back when.
He was hilarious in PILLOW TALK, a brash intern in THE INTERNS, and very good in TWILIGHT OF HONOR.
My favorite Nick Adams performances are in THE FBI STORY....an airplane bomber and mother killer, and in FURY AT SHOWDOWN as the brother of John Derek.....
-
Love the photo...can you quote the inscription in full for us?
We thought Nick was great as Johnny Yuma.
Us too. The first episode of WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE had Nick & Michael Landon playing brothers.
-
Homeward travel vibes for DR GINNY and DH RICHARD. I look forward to the tintypes of the do at DR FJL & SKIP's promised by DR JOSE.
-
'night
-
Us too. The first episode of WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE had Nick & Michael Landon playing brothers.
OMG, I forgot all about that! Haven't seen it for years....Nick always played a brother of the star very well....... 8)
I certainly shouldn't forget to mention the subject of the photo NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS.... ;D Nice supporting role....
-
I hope the partay tonight at Fred and Skip's is most delightful.
It was indeed!! Skip once again presented a culinary masterpiece: the world's best fried chicken EVER which was served with a magnificent salad and homebaked coutry frecnh bread... I had two servings of everything... then came dessert--- blueberry crumble pie with HOMEMADE vanilla ice cream----
Jose I am sure will supply the photos since I cleverly forgot my camera \
Thank you thank you, Fred and Skip for your wonderful hospitality

I must rent this - I actually met Vixdad when I was brought to his apartment to play a roleplaying game, Call of Cathulu (akin to Dungeons and Dragons)
I actually finagled the invite after hearing his voice on my friend's answering machine
-
I love Frenhc bread!!!
-
Here, too. Only 90 degrees. Brrrrrrr.
have I ever mentioned I love you?
-
DR VIXMOM is Cathlulu any relation to Caltiki?
-
Calling all Los Angelenos past and present. I am watching FATHER'S LITTLE DIVIDEND.....and there is some location shooting (obviously second unit, of course) of Spencer Tracy and Joan Bennett driving to the hospital.....
Where was the Criterion Movie Theater? And where was SeaBond Loans....and I think Seabond was part of the view from the Ricardo suite at the Beverly Palms hotel....I think....
-
Nick Adams was a good subject for HHW....but he certainly is dead in the water....so to speak.
-
I love Frenhc bread!!!
It's amazing isn't it? So much better than French bread! ;D
-
Nick's one time wife and the mother of his children is Carol Nugent, sister of annoying child actress Judy Nugent who was in Magnificent Obsession and was the annoying crippled girl with braces in the Superman episode. I was always mad that SHE got to be flown all around the world by Superman, when she was obviously such a terrible actress......
-
If you love frenhc bread, then you shall have some when you next visit NYC

Swete. ;D

Well......yes. 8)
-
vixmom - Is it possible that when I was referring to those glamour shots reminding me of someone famous, I was thinking of Deborah Norville?
-
What is everyone's favorite episode of The Adventures of Superman starring George Reeves?
I like "The Stolen Costume", "The Riddle of the Chinese Jade", and "The Wedding of Superman."
-
vixmom - Is it possible that when I was referring to those glamour shots reminding me of someone famous, I was thinking of Deborah Norville?
My friend Chris who interned at NBC way back when said that of all the stars who came through the TODAY show and SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE....none of them were as pretty as Deborah Norville was in REAL LIFE! 8)
-
BEd time for Bonzo and me....separately, of course.
-
[sigh] It drizzled again tonight, so I'm wondering if I'll be able to mow tomorrow morning or not. I really need to get it done.
-

I disliked her mightily as well. She was simply awful.
-
What is everyone's favorite episode of The Adventures of Superman starring George Reeves?
I like "The Stolen Costume", "The Riddle of the Chinese Jade", and "The Wedding of Superman."
My absolute favorite is "The Haunted Lighthouse." But I also love "The Mystery of the Broken Statues," "Night of Terror," "Lady in Black," "Semi Private Eye," "The Town That Wasn't," "Dagger Island," and "The Lucky Cat."
-
I spent the evening with the LIFE box set. I got 10 of the 11 episodes watched and all of the bonus features. Of those later episodes, I think I had missed two of them making a total of three that were new to me from Season One.
All very good episodes.
-
There were a couple of funny bloopers on the gag reel and Damian Lewis playing "The William Tell Overture" on his teeth.
There was also a fruit-eating montage, and one BIG spoiler featurette revealing the identity of the actual murderer that's revealed in the season finale episode.
-
I'll finish writing up the review tonight, but I won't post it until tomorrow after I've watched the last episode. Have to be sure there are no video or audio problems with the last transfer.
-
Tomorrow I'll be working on the animated feature NEXT AVENGERS on Blu-ray from the Marvel Comics folks.
-
I'm going to do a little more writing and then head down to bed.
Good night!
-
I've been watching THE OUTSIDERS: THE COMPLETE NOVEL. I like the changes which Coppola made very much. Alas, it is a sad movie, so I will not finish it up tonight.
Actually, I shall most likely head off to bed and read that huge INDIANA JONES book on the making of all four films.
I recently read a lot about Nick Adams in HOLLYWOOD BABYLON, the new edition. . .trashy book, but fun in the pissoir.
-
Good Evening!
VIBES TO EVEYONE I'VE MISSED THE PAST COUPLE DAYS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Over the past two days I stained my garage. It has shake shingles so it was quite a feat.
-
http://www.thebatterysdown.com/thesongs.html (http://www.thebatterysdown.com/thesongs.html)
The show isn't up on The Batterys Down, but DR Jose is listed and you can here a bit of his piano playing prowess at the link above
-
Here's a "during" shot of the front of the garage
-
And After - don't like the shadows but I think you get the idea
-
I am tired. I've been watching the Gustav coverage, but think I better get some sleep. Night
-
I liked Nick Adams best in DIE, MONSTER DIE, and in MONSTER ZERO.
-
Hmmmm...favorite SUPERMAN episode...THE MAN WHO MADE DREAMS COME TRUE....THE HAUNTED LIGHTHOUSE...and the episodes with Gloria Talbott and Joi Lansing in them.
-
Finished with Big Brother 10 and I think I will watch a Blondie movie, as I have not watched one in a few years.

Well... After almost an hour of trying this and trying that, it turns out the bar's A/V set-up was/is not capable of playing a DVD and having the audio track from that DVD play at the same time. Well, the A/V guy couldn't figure it out. So I am on my way home to watch it there... On YouTube. :-/
*But I caught up with a whole bunch of old friends, and the eye-candy quotient was quite high tonight too. ;)
-
Calling all Los Angelenos past and present. I am watching FATHER'S LITTLE DIVIDEND.....and there is some location shooting (obviously second unit, of course) of Spencer Tracy and Joan Bennett driving to the hospital.....

The Criterion was on 3rd Street in Santa Monica (what is now the 3rd Street Promenade). In fact, there's a big multi-plex there now which, I think, is also called the Criterion. I saw Scrooge there, and I took my daughter there to see Raggedy Ann and Andy.
-
I'll reprint the Nick Adams inscription in tomorrow's posts - right after midnight.
-
bk - Miss Juliana Hansen sends her best!
-
I see she's in another NYMF show, so that's good.
-
I see she's in another NYMF show, so that's good.
Yep! College: The Musical.
-And she was at tonight's TBD Episode 8 Launch Party... Where Episode 8 did not launch after all... And it seems that the YouTube upload had some problems too. :-\
-
And here's Skip's bread - a pain de campagne, I believe...

Today, I saw "Psychopathia Sexualis" and it was very good and funny! The actors were all very good. It was about two hours long (with intermission) but didn't seem like it took that long. A good time was had by all. :)
