Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a Majorcan feel, and now it is time for you to post until the strangled cows come home from MOOjorca.
-
And the word of the day is: MISPRIZE!
-
Welcome twelve GUESTS.
-
I wonder if our twelve GUESTS have been in Majorca, because they certainly haven't been here. It must be elmore's birthday that got them back here.
-
A SUPER EXTRA SPECIAL HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR OUR VERY OWN DR ELMORE!! ;D
-
In my DVD player, a DVD that I just got from Netflix: Puccini's Tosca (http://www.amazon.com/Puccini-Kabaivanska-Luccardi-Mariotti-Bartoletti/dp/B0007P0LOI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1221808522&sr=1-1) with Raina Kabaivanska, Placido Domingo and Sherrill Milnes. What's unique about this version is that it was filmed at the actual places where the opera is set and I think I had read that it was also filmed at the times of the day in which it takes place.

A VERY Happy Birthday to our very Dear Elmore!
-
I did some research on Bears condition after I posted here. It doesn't look good.
One site I read said that 85% have the tumor regrow within 7 months. 2% don't live past 2 years after the first surgery and whatever treatment is given.
The tumor is so toxic that great care must be taken by the vet doing the surgery because it can cause whoever handles it problems by breathing what it puts out.
I'm upset but Bear is doing well right now. I also read up on the treatments. I don't think I would want to put him through them even if I could.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
-
Thank you, S Woody White and everyone else for the kind words. I know what your saying. I was just in shock last night--still am.
Well, I have to head off to work.

Nothing on the agenda right now.
I'll listen to the BBC and some CDs. Nothing in the DVD player.
I will report back on To Be or Not To Be later.
I will try for a half-price ticket for Equus tomorrow.
The first preview of All My Sons was last night and generated news, only because it was Mrs. Tom Cruise's first performance on a Broadway stage. Apparently she acquited herself well but it's amazing what makes news nowadays.

I'm here all alone so I shall move on and begin work.

I think what's going on with the banks is that people who have other money to get them though can rely on the FDIC paying them back if a specific bank were to go under. But people whose only $$$ are at a bank that there's even a fear of the money being tied up at just can't afford to wait until the FDIC comes through. But consider the thought that if they're choosing your bank as the alternative, the perception must be that your bank is fine and healthy.

A FINE AND HEALTHY BANK - that's the title of my next economic tome

Perhaps, for his splurge today, bk will eat a Monnow Valley Burger - comprised of a hamburger patty with two slices of melted cheese, tomatoes, secret sauce, and onions, sandwiched inside a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed donut and garnished with a slice of gherkin. The Monnow Valley Burger contains up to 1000 calories and 45 grams of fat

I'm sorry to report that I didn't like To Be or Not To Be. I have not seen either movie, the 1942 Jack Benny, Carole Lombard original or the 1983 Mel Brooks re-make. Now I want to see one or both of them to see why people love them so much.
This production didn't work mainly because of the script. There are good people in it. Jan Maxwell, who I think is a wonderful actress and David Rache are the leads. Craig Bierko left the role now played by David Rache and Brian Murray also left during rehearsals. Perhaps that was a sign. I can tell that it's supposed to be wildly funny (at least the playwright seems to think it's wildly funny) but it just isn't. Many of the jokes are old and predictable or just lame. There are also some inside theatre jokes that I think go over the head of the average theatregoer. The lack of real gut busting laughs also hurts the more serious parts of the play. I don't know how faithful it is to either movie but there is a very serious moment near the end of Act Two which should be preceded by wild, crazy humor and audience laughter. It doesn't happen and the shock of the serious moment is greatly diminished. The whole thing lays flat.
I wanted to like it and there are some very funny moments in the show but overall it just doesn't work. Granted I saw an early performance (the first preview was Tuesday and I saw the show yesterday) but even taking that into account I just don't think it works. I don't think the material is dated (it takes place in 1939 Poland after the invasion by Germany) but something is not working and more performances won't make it any better, IMHO.
Just my two cents.
-
Thanks for the theatre report, DR Ben!

Larry - Wouldn't it be great if you could get to post 13000 on your birthday?
I don't know what would be great about it, but it sounds like it might be fun. :)

I didn't like the Brooks-Bancroft version much at all. I have seen the Jack Benny-Carole Lombard version (and have it on DVD), but haven't watched either in so long that it's probably not fair to judge. I remember liking it, but that's all. (And I saw the Brooks-Bancroft version first.)

I forgot to mention that there was another episode of So You Think You Can Dance Canada on wednesday. I might be biased, but they showed the auditions from montreal. I don't know if they showed every single one of the best auditions, but this was the best city auditions i've ever seen including the US version. For some reason there were tons of acrobatics and cirque du soleil type moves in the dances. It was unbelievable. I have no idea how many contestants from across the country will make the finals (i rhink there are usually 300 or so in the US). But it seemed like they took over 60 from montreal.
-
Ben, I'm quite fond of the Lubitsch version of To Be Or Not To Be - Benny, Lombard, Sig Ruman, Robert Stack - it's on DVD. I didn't like the remake at all. From everything I've heard, the reason for the cast departures have everything to do with the director and nothing to do with the piece. In fact, you speak of everything BUT the director. The director, whatever one thinks of his work, is still a novice. He's choreographed one musical, directed and choreographed one musical, and this is his first straight play. And if you don't understand comedy tone, especially in a difficult piece, you're done. These, of course, are just suppositions and/or suppositories. Contrast with a hoary and more importantly a flop 60s comedy like Boeing Boeing, which is suddenly all the hysterical rage - is it the piece (which flopped large, both play and film), or is it the director understanding the mechanics of the piece and finding a way to make it work?

Thanks DR Singdaw. I hope you are feeling better soon.

I had a great walk, up to 94th Street and past my first apartment with the insane jailbird landlord (I wonder if he's still in jail? I hope so), over to Amsterdam and back down. Fed Ex was waiting for me with two packages - sugar-fee Godivas from DR edisaurus and some testing supplies - and I got a lovely book from our DR Nurse Jane. It's been a great day, so far, and I hope the felicitations and vibes from so many friends keep me going safely and healthily for some time to come.
Thanks, DRs Arnold Brockman, Jeanne, JMK, MBarnum, and Nurse Jane for your wishes.
The film crew is still across the street, so maybe it's not LAW & ORDER they're filming?

Now that you mention it, you're right I didn't mention the director and I do think that's part of the problem. It was not well directed. Again, as I mentioned in my first post, I know I'm seeing it early in previews and there were cast replacements but it still feels disjointed and unfinished and the slapstick isn't slapstick enough to make it funny.

Has anyone seen the 1942 or 1983 versions of To Be or Not To Be? Should I look for a copy to watch?
I remember seeing the Mel Brooks version with a friend of mine who is also a theater person. In the remake, there's a character named Sondheim and my friend and I were the only ones in the movie theater who laughed at the line, "Sondheim, send in the clowns!" I don't think that that's in the original, though. ;)

Back from storage, errands, and lunch - I went back to Stanley's and had the Amy's Salad and it was even better than yesterday - plus, no wings, so I'm ahead of the game.

Nice to run errands around noon and not feel sweaty or at all uncomfortable. I can't wait for it to truly be fall. But this will do just fine!
-
When I started eating lunch, I pulled up my DVR list, and I was very surprised to find that I had recorded the new Fox comedy DO NOT DISTURB on Wednesday night. Not sure why, but I watched it and know THAT will never happen again. Not a laugh in sight even with a wonderful line-up of actors: Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Niecy Nash, Jerry O'Connell. Just awful.
-
Then I watched last night's SUPERNATURAL. Excellent episode with lots of fun in the offing for the remainder of the season. Many things yet to be revealed.
-
I spent most of the afternoon watching the last 2 1/2 hours of THE GODFATHER Part II. Superb film, amazing in its construction and the placement of the past and "present" segments. I also tuned in a fair amount of the time to the audio commentary. It is the same one that was on the 2001 DVD releases, and though there's a lot of starting and stopping, there's some interesting information imparted.
-
In the commentary Coppola mentioned that the next film he was going to work on (and this would have been in 2001), he was going to have two main characters. One who began as pure evil and gained redemption and one who began good and turned evil.
Did he ever make this film?
-
I concluded my afternoon of viewing with today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Zip and zip.
-
And that's not an Elaine Stritch reference.
-
I love THE MARRYING KIND. Both actors are superb (Aldo's first movie; Cukor worked very closely with him to get what he wanted. Aldo admitted many years later that he did let Cukor "get intimate with him" and that he had no regrets about it.)
THE SOLID GOLD CADILLAC is my favorite Holliday film.

What a day this has turned into. I've been dealing with this really annoying situation that has reared its ugly head - it has to do with the benefit we did last November. We needed to have credit card machines for the silent auction - so Cason found a company and we did a deal to have them. I was asked for my bank account number because that's how the proceeds would get to my account. Before I gave it, I asked repeatedly if there was any chance at any point they'd be debiting the account for any reason and I was reassured no, because that's what Cason was told. He signed the contract, which I didn't see at all. I'm sure nothing was very clear in that contract, but I haven't seen it, but will be later today.
So, I get a letter from the company asking us to return the machines. The letter doesn't even say WHAT machines or have an account number or anything. So I called the number on the letter and found out it was this credit card company. Turns out they've been debiting my account $30 every month since January. They had a problem doing the debit in July because, wait for it, there was over $150 less in the account than I thought, and I only keep enough in that part of the account to cover checks I write, and I don't allow anyone to debit anything from that account. So, the reprocesses July this month plus an extra fifteen buck charge for the reprocessing. By this time I'm seething as you might imagine. Then they tell me the account has been closed. I ask when was it closed. A week ago. I get off the phone. Today I called my bank and found out the extent of all these debits and I put a stop payment on any further debits from this company. I then call the company back just to reiterate they will never debit again - again I'm told the account is closed but is now in "collections." I have them switch me to collections. Turns out that according to whatever Cason signed, if they close our account (or I presume we do) before whatever term he signed on for they charge $295.00. I would obviously not agreed to any of this had I known any of this. I told them there was no way we'd be paying that. The snotty woman said, "Would you like me to note that on your account." I said, "In big bold letters." I got off the phone. Part two coming.

I spent most of the afternoon watching the last 2 1/2 hours of THE GODFATHER Part II. Superb film, amazing in its construction and the placement of the past and "present" segments. I also tuned in a fair amount of the time to the audio commentary. It is the same one that was on the 2001 DVD....
Why would there be audio commentary from the movie "2001" on the DVD for "The Godfather Part II"??
;D

Friday afternoon greetings! I'm posting from my very own computer in our very own house with our very own power! Richard says it came back on early this afternoon, which makes is almost 5 full days that we were without it. Seemed like an eternity.
Great news, Ginny!! :D
-
Happiest of birthdays, dear DR Elmore!!! Sorry I couldn't even send you an e-card today.
Thank you, DR Ginny! The best gift I got was knowing that you and your family have your electricity back at home. And I go some mighty nice gifts, to boot!
-
There's a good possibility that I'll be working on a new book soon. Would really like to do it. That's all I can say right now.
Gotta scoot.
~~~Successful Book Working On Vibes for DR Jeanne!!~~~
Good Afternoon!
Well, I ended up being done at 4:00, so that gave me a little bit of time to head back home before heading back down to meet up with our very own birthday, boy, DR elmore, for tonight's theatrical excursion.
And, yes, it was another wonderful day of auditions all around.
*And, on a very personal note, it was soooo nice to have my "possibilities encouraged", rather than having my "deficiencies acknowledged". :)
-
I love THE MARRYING KIND. Both actors are superb (Aldo's first movie; Cukor worked very closely with him to get what he wanted. Aldo admitted many years later that he did let Cukor "get intimate with him" and that he had no regrets about it.)
That's nice to know. ;)
That's a nightmare! Didn't you notice a strange $30 deduction every month?
-
Welcome back to the 20th Century, DR Ginny! ;)
-
*And, on a very personal note, it was soooo nice to have my "possibilities encouraged", rather than having my "deficiencies acknowledged". :)
Well, I'll fix that tonight! ;)
-
I forgot to mention that there was another episode of So You Think You Can Dance Canada on wednesday. I might be biased, but they showed the auditions from montreal. I don't know if they showed every single one of the best auditions, but this was the best city auditions i've ever seen including the US version. For some reason there were tons of acrobatics and cirque du soleil type moves in the dances. It was unbelievable. I have no idea how many contestants from across the country will make the finals (i rhink there are usually 300 or so in the US). But it seemed like they took over 60 from montreal.
DR Jennifer - Cirque du Soleil's "training camp" and main rehearsal facilities are in Montreal.
-
Well, I'll fix that tonight! ;)
Well... I usually pay someone for that.
:o
:-X
-
THE SOLID GOLD CADILLAC is my favorite Holliday film.
I like this film, too! Why isn't it on DVD? Or is it?
-
Well... I usually pay someone for that.
Are we talking psychological personal pain or euphemism? I'm in the first camp.
-
That's a nightmare! Didn't you notice a strange $30 deduction every month?
I was about to ask the same thing. With "electronic theft", unfortunately, being a common crime nowadays... Do you have your bank statements so that you can reference the debits?
-
Are we talking psychological personal pain or euphemism? I'm in the first camp.
Usually, they go hand in hand. A two-fer if you will. ;)
-
Dear BK - this didn't happen to involve the credit card you took with you on your last trip to NYC, did it?
It could explain way too much. :P
-
TOD:
Book - Stand Facing the Stove, a dual bio of the mother and daughter who wrote The Joy of Cooking.
CD - Doctor Who, soundtrack for the third season. Lots of fun.
DVD -
Just finished Heroes, Season Two.
Torchwood, Season Two has arrived.
But before I get to that, I've got History Boys waiting to be enjoyed.
-
Happy
Birthday
DR
Elmore!!!
:D
-
I feel like taking a nap.
Somewhere in this house, there has to be a dog who would like to cuddle.
-
So, when Cason gets here we'll talk everything through, but it seems to me no matter what the contract says, Cason asked specific questions and was given specific answers (and he has the name of the person) and none of it jibes with what happened. Also, one could take the tack that THEY closed our account, not us - so since WE didn't close it early, why should WE have to pay this penalty. Cason, I'm told, was very clear with the person who set this up, and was told we could cancel at any time - penalties were never mentioned. How it will play out is anyone's guess, but I'm livid at these people and I'm also petrified they'll attempt to debit the $295 right now - if they do we're screwed because the stop payment takes three days to go into effect.
-
I was about to ask the same thing. With "electronic theft", unfortunately, being a common crime nowadays... Do you have your bank statements so that you can reference the debits?
Unfortunately, I send the statements to the guy who handles the Kritzerland stuff - I don't even open them. Guess that will be changing now.
-
Dear BK - this didn't happen to involve the credit card you took with you on your last trip to NYC, did it?
It could explain way too much. :P
It doesn't involve a credit card at all - just this business services company we used so we could take cc's at our November event.
-
That is absolutely awful, BK.
-
Unfortunately, I send the statements to the guy who handles the Kritzerland stuff - I don't even open them. Guess that will be changing now.
Can you check them online?
Happy
Birthday
DR
Elmore!!!
:D
Thank you, DR S Woody White
-
Why would there be audio commentary from the movie "2001" on the DVD for "The Godfather Part II"??
;D
Yeah, Brando didn't turn into a Monolith until a few years later. :)
-
Have we thrown Elmore his MISPRIZE party yet?
-
Thanks to all for the congratulatory wishes on our emergence from the Dark Ages. Richard and I just poured the contents of our refrigerator down the garbage disposal and filled up 2 curbside recycling bins. The last thing Garbo swallowed was 2 part-bottles of Pepto-Bismol. I'm sure he needed it.
-
Maybe Elmore would prefer a MR. PRIZE party. ;)
-
Perhaps the next Adriana Hofsteter mystery will be THE MURDER OF CASON.
-
Us SciFiAddicts have a new Stargate-Atlantis to watch.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR SWEET LARRY!!!!
-
HAPPY HAPPY NATAL DAY, DR ELMORE! MAY YOUR BIRTHDAY BE GAY, GAY GAY!
-
I'm listening to "Where We Belong" from Boyzone. A classic cd.
-
I'll be finished reading James Rollins' THE JUDAS STRAIN later this evening. Good book.
-
>>financial vibes for BK<<
-
I watched a handmade dvd last night.
-
Has anyone seen the 1942 or 1983 versions of To Be or Not To Be? Should I look for a copy to watch?
They both have their moments, but it's the personalities who carry the story past its weakpoints. Jack Benny is funny, Carole Lombard delightful. The only thing I really remember about the remake is a line: "How can you have any theatre if you kill all the gay people, gypsies and Jews?"
Or something to that effect.
-
Actually, I don't know what I'm going to watch this weekend.
I've been watching the new restored set of THE GODFATHER.
The last 2 nights we watched GODFATHER I & II, so tonight we'll watch III.
Beyond that, I haven't a clue...though there are many possibilities.
BTW; The new set of THE GODFATHER looks terrific.
Eeek!
DR Ginny - so very happy and glad to hear that you're back in the swing of things!!!! :D
Glad to hear of the good news for some, sending out good vibes to everyone (4-legged and 2-legged) who need them.
I want pics of Singdaw in a blue and white thong!
Cason talked to a bunch of people. The fellow who made the deal with him - wait for it - has left the company. But he got a nice lady who asked him to send her a note with the history, and she's going to take it to her superiors to try to get them to waive the closing the account fee. But Cason also got the collections person to agree to settle for half, should the woman not be able to get the fee waived. So, we'll see. The collections people can't do anything for forty-five days anyway - that's how long the remedy period is. I asked them a simple question - was anyone at anytime going to call us and apprise us of this situation. They had no answer.
-
I don't know if this was a question of "so soon?" or "why'd it take so long?" but: [title of show] to Close On Broadway in October (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/121557.html).
-
Off to bed to read for a while - because I can!
'night!
-
Then we shipped back the terminal they'd sent us. So we'll see. Cason then left and I got a call from the authors who I've been advising about NYMF. They are, to put it kindly, in hell. There hasn't been one press release for their show, which opens in twelve days. They are being treated like the runt of the litter. They lost their first director, their second director, and now they have some guy who's the husband of a known musical theater actress - he's never directed before. The musical director is holding them up for all sorts of things he wants down the line, and, of course, they lost one actor, who they've now replaced. Apparently Mr. Wannabe Director doesn't know the first thing about staging or stage pictures, so the choreographer has to move people around in the scenes.
They're very appreciative of my advice and the believe it because everything I've told them, yea AND nay, has come to pass.
-
'night Ginny. Enjoy the luxuries of the 20th and 21st centuries.
-
BK - I'm confused. Their show is 12 days away. They seem to be calling themselves the "producers.' Who (or is it whom) are they expecting will send out these press releases? Or do they mean they haven't bee included in any of the NYMF press releases yet? With twelve days to go, they have plenty of time to, as Jose says, make their own luck. As you may recall. the shows that did not have name stars had to push hard to be part of NYMF's publicity machine, and had to do much on their own.
-
We are about to watch NEXT, with Nicolas Cage, Julianne Moore, Jessica Biel and Peter Falk. I'm hoping the action will wake me up.
'night
Good Evening!
I'm back from seeing Bonnie & Clyde with DR elmore...
We liked it. We really liked it. :)
*I'll leave it up to DR elmore to share his opinions and tales from this evening. -And, yes, there are tales.
-
bk - Is there a reason you hadn't shipped back the terminal before now?
Well... Now that I've completed my usual September obligations - which is why I couldn't do a NYMF show in the first place (again)... well... I know something about pretty stage pictures. ;)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELMORE!!!!
-
Wow! You get diagnosed with diabetes and someone sends you Godiva chocolates? :D
Sugar-free, DR Ron. Our Elmore is sweet enough on his own!
-
Congratulations on seeing the light, Ginny!
-
bk - Is there a reason you hadn't shipped back the terminal before now?
The Terminal...sounds like a good subject for a song...
-
I spent the morning at GSU's Johnny Mercer archives. Boy, there's a wealth of material there. Right now I'm loading an unfinished film that Johnny's son put together about him. That man was a genius!
-
DR Ginny - You're out of the woods, you're out of the dark, you're out of the night.....
Congrats!
-
Thank you, DRs Kerry and td, for the birthday felicitations! It's been a great day: two musicals that are polar opposites in terms of tone and both equally wonderful, a visit with a wonderful friend, our DR Jose, several phone messages includng one from Lady M's husband, several wonderful gifts, and a lot of birthday wishes here and on Facebook, and Peter Filichia's at the intermission of BONNIE & CLYDE.
As to the country western musical, it has great potential: a fun score, very funny book and lyrics, a wonderful cast, very good choreography with lots of funny musical staging and excellent direction by Mark Waldrop. My friend Jason Wooten, with whom I worked and last saw at Goodspeed in 1998, was a wonderful Clyde Barrow, and Julie Johnson, a large lady of indeterminate age and very abundant talent, whom I met tonight, was a fantastic eath mother as Bonnie's surrogate mother. I really think this show has a good future. Julie and I had never met before but we have several friends in common, including Ron Raines and Steve Jones; I had seen her in a reading of NIGHT OF THE HUNTER and at the York in the Schmidt-Jones musical ROADSIDE. Last March I scored "Maybe This Time" for a Lyric Stage benefit in Dallas, so it was nice to finally meet.
Time for my meds.
-
I had a nice day at my parents' place. We talked, I fixed my dad's printer (seems it doesn't work without ink) helped some friends rake up acorns in their yards, sipped tea while hanging out on the new porch and new room and went to my favorite fried chicken place for dinner. A good time was had by all
-
Last summer my parents came to visit and mom forgot to bring the birthday cake she bought for me. Well, when she got home she put it in the freezer and since today was the first time I've been there since my birthday...she took it out and gave it to me to bring home. I haven't had any yet
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELMORE!!!!
Thank you, dear!
I thought I'd posted Milla's Today's Birthdays for Sept. 19 but I'm a little scattered today because of tax work. Anyone we know on the list?
I like this film, too! Why isn't it on DVD? Or is it?
It is; I have it. And as I recall it looks very nice. But I haven't revisited it in quite some time.
-
Thank you, dear!
:-*
-
I spent a great portion of the evening watching THE GODFATHER PART III. Parts of it are as good as the first two films, but on the whole, it's just not quite as compelling. The story also seems a bit unwieldy with all the Catholic Church finances and such.
And the actor/singer who plays Tony is adorable.
-
Then I started on the bonus features. None of the newest ones compiled for this new restoration are all that good except maybe Robert Harris' piece on the restoration.
One featurette had the cameras at the premiere of CLOVERFIELD asking the cast and crew and friends of that production what they thought of THE GODFATHER. Why? Just because both were produced by Paramount?
-
Now, I'm going back through the older featurettes compiled for the original 2001-release of the films on DVD (is that better stated, DR George? :o )
-
I love THE MARRYING KIND. Both actors are superb (Aldo's first movie; Cukor worked very closely with him to get what he wanted. Aldo admitted many years later that he did let Cukor "get intimate with him" and that he had no regrets about it.)
Tomorrow I'll likely watch MAD MEN from HD On Demand while I cook and eat lunch. Then, I'll get back to those GODFATHER featurettes. There are a PILE of them.
-
On the contrary, that story made my weekend!
-
Well, I'm going to write for a little while and then head downstairs to bed.
Good night!
-
As a matter of fact I was going to watch THE MARRYING KIND tonight, and preted I was George Cukor...but I cannot find the DVD....so I will instead watch the 1912 silent version of CLEOPATRA that is on my DVR from when TCM showed it a few weeks ago.
MBarnum, I'd be interested to know what you (or anyone else who's seen this) think of the music that they used. It's certainly NOT the original score. :P
I didn't know that.
NYMF sends out press releases for every show - but not theirs. They also are paying a publicist who doesn't seem to be doing a very good job. I feel their pain, frankly, but they should not be the producers - that said, they also hired a general manager firm, so why they're not dealing with it is anyone's guess.
-
bk - Is there a reason you hadn't shipped back the terminal before now?
Because he was told upfront that there would be no charges and no fees - either he misunderstood that or the guy just told him that - who knows? But the inference was that we could use the stuff when we needed to.
Hmm... Sounds like he misunderstood. I'm guessing that the company thought that you were just going to use it for the benefit - a short term rental, and that was it. Otherwise, there's really no reason for you to keep the machine - from the company's point of view. Just be glad you didn't have an additional agreement with VISA/MC or you'd be paying LOTS of other charges right now.
-
Been hooked on the theme song from ANGIE lately. This has happened before - almost any time I hear Maureen McGovern sing, I want to listen to the theme from ANGIE.
-
Oh Dear, FJL, that sounds like a real problem ;)
-
I know, I may have to take an ANGIE-ogram or something like that.
I'll stock up on prunes. because you never know what the effect could be of hearing "Love it conquers, love it binds" over and over.
FJL, I can't believe neither JR nor I posted about FF's 98th birthday today. I guess obsession only goes so far. ;)
I wonder if the WING musical will be next...
Mrs. Miller Does Her Thing, with Monk and Bryggman, Opens at the Vineyard Sept. 20 (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/121530.html)
I will not have what he's having.
Then again, I have some excuses--I have been swamped writing various musics for various groups, and also penning an endless stream of reviews. Just got out reviews on Blu-Ray Speed Racer (I love this movie, I know I may be the only one, LOL), the History Channel's Rome, and just a few minutes ago Torchwood 2. Now I still have Blu-Ray Godfather(s), Blu-Ray Shrek 3, a new Yes concert DVD set and Blu-Ray Interview with a Scientologist (or something like that) to do, which means I will no doubt forget FF's 99th birthday.
Jose - Oh, that's Martha's Vineyard. not NYC's Vineyeard Theater.
I know. I got excited too until I saw the actual venue. Road trip?
On the contrary, that story made my weekend!
I've heard it before, but it's always nice to hear it again.
DRLaura took me for a walk through the Botantical Garden this morning, and boy are my arms tired! Good night, gang!
Well... I was hoping to sleep in tomorrow, but tomorrow is "Exterminator" day. So, sometime between 9:00am and 11:00am there will be a knock-knock-knock on our door, so...
Goodnight.
I gotta tell you. I was watching Enter Laughing, but I was listless and restless, and now I am sitting at the laptop like so much fish.
Sorry, you are not alone. - I took the Grandlads to see it and had a great time (I even have the DVD to share with them.) Leave it to the Matrix team to turn a live-action arcade game into an exciting theatrical romp.
