Well, you've read the notes, the notes spread the news, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently spreadin' the moos.

And the word of the day is: HARUSPICY!

And if Arnold M. Brockman finds a song for THAT, he gets a sparkling prize.
-
And now I suppose I'll try to toddle off to the bedroom environment.
-
BK, wishing you a safe flight and a wonderful time in NY, NY!
-
DR Vixmom, sounds like Chauncy has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. It seems that the joy of some service people is to be smug and superior. I know, I worked with a few like that at Bi-Mart.

I watched a couple of M SQUAD episodes and 1 and 1/2 PERRY MASON season 1 episodes. Now to watch the other half.

Sunday morning greetings! We are back from our quick trip to NW Indiana and getting ready to go to Cincinnati for church. DH Richard is now officially on the path to ordination as a priest in the Anglican Province of America.
-
DR Vixmom - I'm sorry your day Thursday(?) was so awful and hope that it provided all of the angst and unpleasantness for this entire experience. Smooth sailing from here on!
-
Travel vibes to BK - please give my regards to Broadway and all the NYC Hainsies & Kimlets!
-
What a story, Vixmom! By the way, vote "no" on the minister. That way when he fails it won't be your fault.
Congrats on Richard's upcoming ordination!
-
I'm up, I'm shaved, I'm showered, and shall shortly be on my way to the airport and then New York, New York. I'll post from the airport. Chow for now.
-
Off to breakfast, then church...bye for now!
-
Safe travel vibes to you, lovely BK. Hug Jose for me.
-
I need to catch up on yesterday's posts.
-
Safe travels, BK!
-
Pray for me, DRs. Zach is the proud owner of his first drum kit. The house is now in Sensurround.
WOW-- just like when Little Ricky got his drumset. You can live out your own "I Love Lucy" episode!
-
Travels vibes for MR BK.....and we need to see many NY pictures, of course, and links to websites with info and pics on the Bend-Knee-Feet.
-
Shocking story, DR VIXMOM......but such a happy ending!

Working again today.....oh well. Temps are down this morning, but a high near 50 degrees has been predicted. We shall wait and see.

Still meeting myself coming and going... I'd love a day off - ummm... that migh be tomorrow!!
Today I have the final for my dialect students at the acting school in Santa Monica - they get to strut their stuff in front of agents and casting folk. Then, immediately hie me to Malibu to a most lovely residential rehab clinic - where I am the arts therapist - we get to color and to draw mandalas and lotsa fun stuff. Beats working for a living, I tell ya! Last April I brought in boiled eggs and paints and stuff - and we did Easter eggs. Once I brought in pine cones and leaves and seeds and feathers and glue and we made creations outa that. For this, I get paid the big bucks!!
Tomorrow, I can resume work on my PhD dissertation. And the weather is cooling off a bit, which I like. Oh, life is grand.

Jeez, I been gone a long time - forgot to mention that I have been approached to take over as managing director of a local theater, here in LA - and they agreed to work around my 3 months in WA every summer. Now THAT is a job I like!!

DR vixmom, I cannot believe how god-awful your hospital visit was! I'm so glad that things finally got settled and I wish horrors of health and emotional life to Chauncy and all those similar fools in healthcare who delight in turning the patient into their victim. It's bad enough being trapped in a morass of paperwork and trivia, but the lying, lack of help, and excuses for not following through should be added to Dante's circles of hell.
On the other hand, now that you're being better treated, I want to know ASAP that you've returnedto us in perfect health.

Really looking forward to that '24' TV-movie tonight. It's two hours setting up the return of the show in January. It hasn't been on since the spring of 2007, so I'm eager for its return. I've watched every season and loved it even when the seasons were erratic in quality.

As I mentioned last night, today I'll be working on the Blu-ray of FRED CLAUS. I had planned on spending today with CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN on Blu-ray, but FRED CLAUS comes out on Tuesday, and PRINCE CASPIAN doesn't come out until December 2nd.
The box says FRED CLAUS is 115 minutes. That seems kind of long for a holiday comedy. I hope it doesn't wear out its welcome.

Yep. They're probably some place very obvious. They only "disappeared" for about three hours, so, I know they have to be somewhere here in the apartment. Next, I watched FRED CLAUS on Blu-ray. There are actually some funny, original ideas contained in this mess of a movie. But Vince Vaughn's wiseacre persona wears on me after a short time, and then we go from sarcastic mode to goopy sentimental mode while he makes things right. Ah, well, wasn't THAT predictable?
Still, grand set design and special effects, some of the best I've ever seen that turned John Michael Higgins into a really believable elf.
The Blu-ray is stunning to look at. Sharp as a tack, warm, brownish colors for inside and bright lifelike colors for outside. Deep blacks with superb contrast. Really one of the best video transfers I've seen.
Warners only went with standard Dolby Digital (although a high bit rate) for audio. It's fine, a typical movie comedy soundtrack.
-
I started watching the bonus features. The first two featurettes were forgettable. In the first, everyone stays in character to talk about the elves and working at the North Pole with Santa. In the second, some of the famous brothers in the film (Frank Stallone, Stephen Baldwin, Roger Clinton) talk about working on the movie.
I also listened to about half of the audio commentary (skipping around). The director is proud of his movie and it shows in his enthusiasm for every aspect of the picture in his talk.
-
I have three more bonus features to go (I think). If there's time left, I may start watching some Our Gang comedies from the box set.
-
I made it - am posting from
the taxi. Holland tunnel was open. And I'll be at the hotel soon.

I'm in the hotel and finally connected to the wireless Internet. They charge here, but I paid for all ten days up front so I won't have to keep re-upping every day. Hotel seems nice, fitness room is open twenty-four hours (which is GREAT), and the room itself is fine, but NOT what is shown on their website. On their site, you see lovely widescreen TVs rather than the TV I have, which looks like it's from 1978.

I see - you have to be in the "deluxe" room to get widescreen TV. I'm in a Queen Superior room, which is not a Deluxe room. If I wanted the Deluxe room it would cost another seventy bucks per night. If I was here for two or three days, I'd do it, but not for ten days. So, I'll simply be a Superior Queen on this trip. I hope no one has a problem with that.
-
I wonder how long it will take me to get from here (42nd bet First and Second Ave) to Joe Allen (Eighth and 46th). I'm thinking of power walking over there.
-
When I get home, I'm also thinking of doing an hour of the treadmill or the exercise bike - we shall see.
-
And tomorrow, if I don't want to get up super early, I can always exercise in the late afternoon, then go eat.

My wireless mouse has low battery signal. I hate when that happens.

And you will be watching how much TV?

;D

I am just now catching up on reading yesterday's posts.
I very much enjoyed reading Vixdad's description of DR Vixmom's day from hell. That is completely awful. I am so glad your new doc is so nice!
I can't figure out why the mean guy was mean. But i really cannot believe he was purposely trying
to screw with a patient. It must be that he is either stupid or really bad at his job!
-
I'm STARVING. Alex Rybeck will be joining Jose and I at Joe Allen.
Is he still hosting JEOPARDY?
-
Seems DearReader Laura's mail is still being directed to me!
My name is Jabor Thani, a merchant in Qatar. I have recently been
diagnosed with Esophageal cancer, which has defiled all medical
treatment. Expert diagnosis has shown that I have few months to live.
The intention of this email is to employ the expertise of a business
entrepreneur, who can identify a viable investment and guarantee
reasonable returns on my wealth. This is to secure a future for my 4
years old son who lost his mother during birth. I cannot rely on his
closest relatives any more, as they did not show responsible behaviour
two years ago when I entrusted half of my wealth to them to invest on
his behalf. They thought I wouldnt survive the operation and then
used the money for their personal needs.
To prevent any more mishaps, my attorney will act as a check,
monitoring every aspect of the investment. Funds should be split in
half and distributed to charity organisation and the other half, as
investment for my son.
If this interests you, please reach me on the email address:
jabor.thani@all4rams.com to discuss terms and compensation.
Kind regard
Jabor Thani

No, silly...
Joe Allen went into the restaurant business.

Speaking of incompetence my niece really wants to get this cupcake maker she's seen for Christmas.
It was on sale at a few places this week including Walmart. But Toys R Us sells the same one and is a lot closer. And they put this big fold out on their flier this week saying they match any advertised price and give 10% difference.
It is hard to believe people could be this incompetent. But I went to Toys R Us. Now this is their procedure (and i kid you not).
1. you go to the service counter and the person cuts out the advertisement and must call to make sure said store has item in stock (already here i disagree, because as long as toys r us has the item they should honor it, i'm assuming they put the announcement on the front page of their flyer because they actually want people to do this).
So guy does this (he tells us he usually gets hung up on by walmart) :)
2. then you go to wait in long regular line except that cashier's are not authorized to give price matches.
3. cashier then calls service desk and he confirms price.
4. then cashier has to call supervisor who comes to do the price match.
5. Then cashier and supervisor have no clue about 10% additional price rebate (they have been doing this for years) so they call manager of floor who has to come with key and do this on giftcard (fine althoug stupid).
6. Then as if this were not stupid enough (do they really want people to do this??) the cashier being slightly dumb, presses the wrong key and has to delete the transaction.
So add 4 and 5 again (i am not kidding).
And they don't see anything wrong with this (this took 30 minutes).
To me how it should be done is how they do it a big chain called future shop. You bring in the advertised price at competitor. The cash gives you that price, and takes off 10% more right then.
Time to do this 2 minutes.

My sister said she would record True Blood for me in a few weeks when it reairs on HBO Canada. I am looking forward to seeing this.

Has anyone else, besides vixmom, gone to see TWILIGHT?

But think of the money you saved, DR JENNIFER!

Has anyone else, besides vixmom, gone to see TWILIGHT?
Not me.

Joe Allen's is the place to be tonight, I guess. And I will be watching The Amazing Race.
I have started to watch a show on the CW of all places.....it is called Valentine and it's a kind of romantic-magic show with an attractive young cast. I have watched it twice, I hope it sticks around awhile.
Those who enjoy ELI STONE might like VALENTINE.....

Dinner time!

I'm going on tuesday!

:)
It's just so off to me that they could actually think this procedure is acceptable. I'm going to call them about this. I mean why do they put this on the front page of their flyer. They are likely to turn off customers.
I forgot to add the fact that the measely service person treats you like a vulture while he dials the other store's number to see if they have said product in stock.

I'm almost positive it's already been cancelled (and may not even by on tonight).
The CW almost never cancels shows mid-season. But they did for both sunday night shows.

Here is something cute that happened today.
My 3 year old niece was on my bed looking at the shopping channel while i got ready. She likes to know the hosts/guests names if i know.
So she says to me, "auntie what is the black one's name?" And i'm thinking that seems odd that she would call someone out by their skin color (did not know she would know to say something like that).
When i look up at the screen it turns out the lady was wearing A BLACK DRESS. Oy.

Jennifer, the idea is to make the service as inconvenient as possible, so that people will not bother going through the hassle.
-
I am also looking forward to TAR.
No Desperate housewives or Brothers & sisters today.
-
Tomovoz - I had to send that email form Skip's address, so if something comes by email from Skip, it's not junk mail. :)
-
Tomovoz, perhaps you can adopt the four-year-old soon-to-be orphan.
-
DR TCB - you are assuming I am interested in seeing TWILIGHT.
Thanks for the info, DR JENNIFER....I guess I will just watch it until it expires.

And suddenly I'm down to two bars.

Watching Iron Chef America - Thanksgiving Challenge hosted by Alton Brown.....

AHHHH! I think I know why Juan the drywaller didn't come back. I went to put the covers on the light switches and outlets and guess what....they aren't flush with the wall. My only choice is to cut the drywall and the covers are then recessed with drywall around them. I did it on one light switch and decided I'd stop. I have to call the electrician about taking out the heater, so I'm going to see if there is anything he can do to help me. I am very frustrated. I gave someone who claimed he knew what he was doing a chance and got screwed. I have worked so hard on that room and the last thing I want is to have this problem. I can figure out something creative if I have to, but I am hoping the electrician can do something without having to rip out the drywall and start over.
ARG! This is what I get for trying to save money
-
I've been working in the room all day and right now am too frustrated to go back and read the posts
-
Looks like there is a way to fix the outlets. I don't think it would have worked for the light switches. I already cut around them. But if I have to patch that it shouldn't be too hard. I'm going to call the electrician anyway, hopefully he can either fix it or help me figure out what to do.
Plus one of the outlets is broken, so I'm going to see if he can fix that while he's here.
-
I knew this project was going to smoothly
-
But think of the money you saved, DR JENNIFER!
;D
DR Jennifer are you writing to Toys R Us to complain or will you simply go to Walmart next time?
-
Did you pay Juan already?
-
I was thinking the same thing, but then why would he leave tools.
Cilla I hope it all works out to your satisfaction.

I'm ready for a Mallomar. Has anyone seen them in the stores yet?

Oh, darn, it's not a page turn

Oh! Those.
-
Did you pay Juan already?
Yeah, he was really done except for minor details. That part is my own fault. But, I did a search and it looks like everything I thought was major isn't really that major. Since it's my first big project, there are bound to be problems I'll have to figure out. This is just one of them.
-
I've done that before.
-
I think the electrician can fix the outlets and possibly the light switches. I may have to patch them after he fixes it, but I'll figure it out. It will be ok,
-
I have to leave that project alone until I get back from Thanksgiving. My parents will be staying here Tuesday night and I didn't clean this weekend. Tomorrow will be a long night!

Back from a lovelier than lovely dinner with Jose and Alex Rybeck, who both were great dining partners. I had a large Caesar salad and a shrimp cocktail, Jose had the La Scala salad, and Alex had meat loaf. They shared a huge piece of pumpkin pie - I had not one bite. I also, for fun, jogged over to the restaurant, which Jose tells me is about three quarters of a mile, and I jogged back, too, so that's good. Plus a pretty low cal supper. Plus, I'm going to check out the exercise room right now. Of course, I stopped at CVS (a block away) and got some chocolate licorice to curb my sweet tooth.
-
Tomovoz - I had to send that email form Skip's address, so if something comes by email from Skip, it's not junk mail. :)
Thank you. Received!

G'night!

Tomovoz, perhaps you can adopt the four-year-old soon-to-be orphan.
possibly DR Kerry would prefer the orphan as an alternative to the cat.

Goodnight DR ABC

While BK is in NYC, I think he should join Steve Guttenburg for morning jogging.

;D DR Laura.

Jeez, I been gone a long time - forgot to mention that I have been approached to take over as managing director of a local theater, here in LA - and they agreed to work around my 3 months in WA every summer. Now THAT is a job I like!!
EXCELLENT NEWS!!!
-
Vixmom. I love your husband!
me too!!

I am slightly confused about Thursdays visit. Was this with the same doctor or another one?
Thursday's visit was with the Oncologist. The happier visit was with the Radiologist - I think
der Brucer
I think the days may have gotten mixed up inteh posts: the awful visit was Friday the 14th the wonderful radiologist visit was this past Friday, the 21st

DR Lauras - we did not call the proposed minister - the vote was 80 against, 170 for and 9 abstained
that meant we misssed the required (by our church constitution) 2/3 majority by 3 votes
The senior Pastoral delegate from the Synod said that with that amount od nays that even had we squeaked in witha the 2/3 she would have advised the pastor to decline the call
I am afraid I was even less impressed with him after this morning's Q & A. I think this was definitey for the best
-
It has been a very long weekend .... I am off to bed!
Good night all!!
-
Went down to the exercise room - I was the only one there. I did the treadmill (no exercise bikes) and got used to it very quickly. I ended up doing 3.2 miles, which, in addition to the at least one to one and a half miles I jogged to the restaurant and back, gave me my for miles. Interestingly, the machine tell you how many calories you've burned - running 3.2 at a little faster speed than I normally do on the long jog burned 400 calories. I had no idea - that must mean I'm burning about 450 to 500 calories on the long jog, which is GREAT.
-
Am now eating four count them four yummilicious pieces of chocolate licorice, and I may put on a little of the new DVD that I picked up next to Joe Allen - White Dog. I was taking the plastic off the package and it was on there in such a weird way that I ended up not only taking the plastic off, but ripping to shreds the real plastic of the case. Oh, well.
-
It's for the best, DR Vixmom. I am proud to say that I was the only one who voted no on the previous pastor. I just thought we could do better. Boy, was I right!
-
Welcome to New York dear BK!
-
Did Jose find his keys?
-
I did vote yes on the current pastor, and I still think he is great.

Do you have any spares that would like to serve a Lutheran church on Long Island?

and now I really must get to bed

We are a small denomination, and the ministers have the advantage: there are more churches needing ministers than there are ministers.

Good Evening!
-Just waiting for the movie to begin...
-
DR Laura - Yes, I have looked in the freezer, the fridge, the crisper, the egg compartment...
-
What movie?
-
DR JOSE your keys in the kitchen.
-
Great news from DR PENNYO this morning, I forgot to comment on that!
ORPHANS OF THE STORM is (are?) on TCM in about an hour. Haven't seen it all the way through.
-
MR BK I did the same thing to my CURSE OF THE MUMMY'S BLOOD DVD package.....
-
DR Jose, your keys are where you had them last ;)
-
Where are the photos from the Joe Allen dinner?
Where are the photos of Zach Kauffman playing the drums?
-
DR Jose, your keys are where you had them last ;)
Yup!
-
And the previews have started, so...
-
DR CILLA LIZ your room is still MANY steps toward being completed.....despite the set backs.
Someday you will look back on this and laugh.....
-
I went back down to the room. It's not nearly as bad as I thought it was and I think we'll figure out a good fix without too much trouble. I feel much better. I think I had a few too many of the fumes from spray painting the frame for the bathroom mirror
-
DR JOSE must be seeing a late night showing of TWILIGHT.

Don't choose a hair color under the influence.
-
How do you tell a Lutheran minister from an Episcopalian priest?
The minister is the one with the out of state license plate.
-
Maybe I will watch a Dee Vee Dee instead of Orphans of the Storm.
-
Oh....I am almost at a milestone.
-
DR CILLA LIZ your room is still MANY steps toward being completed.....despite the set backs.
Someday you will look back on this and laugh.....
What really made me laugh was when I went to Home Depot to get an estimate on putting in the floor. I asked about their installation price and first one of the helpful guys said "why would you pay the labor on that? it's just like throwing money away. You can do it" Then a woman who works there said "That's the easiest thing, my daughter and I laid our kitchen floor...why wouldn't you do it yourself"
Guess I'm supposed to be working on this room.
DR JRand, you are right there are many steps left. I am still enjoying it and will be most proud when it is done
-
Hmmmm.....something good for 33,000....hmmmmmmmmm

hmmm, I was going to color my hair today and just forgot to do it. I already have the color. Don't think I'll do it now.

Jose took a photograph of the pumpkin pie and of my newly-thin hand, which is forty pounds lighter than the last photograph of my hand. I must say I thought my hand looked great. On the other hand, to coin a phrase, I don't like any of the mirrors in this hotel - they're all a little distorted.
-
Then again, I'm a little distorted.
-
I'm not really tired yet, and I found out rehearsal is at eleven not ten, so I'll probably stay up until one.

Oh man! I hate that...distorted mirrors in hotels that is...I can't think of the times I've looked in a hotel mirror and said "AHHHH!" Well I blame the mirror.
Congrats on losing 40 pounds in your hand. That's quite a feat....or is that feet....
-
JRand, are you working on something wise for your 33,000 post
-
The news just said you should go to the holiday light parade because you get candy thrown at you. That sounds really mean. I'd rather have candy thrown to me.
-
Yes DR CILLA LIZ - and here it is.
It doesn't get any better.....watch to the end when they leap back over the railing and start to spin and completely CHANGE DIRECTIONS from clockwise to counterclockwise without batting an eyelash.
The best....for post 33,000, please to enjoy Mr Fred Astaire & Miss Ginger Rogers.

The CW doesn't produce shows on Sunday night. They farmed the night out to another company and just broadcast them. The ratings have been nonexistent, and the company was fired. I don't know how much longer those shows will air.
-
Vixmom I am disgusted to read what happened to you. What a cad!
-
I finished the bonus features on the FRED CLAUS Blu-ray, none of which were really all that good. (apart from the commentary which gave more information on how things were done than were in any of the featurettes.)
-
Next, I opened the LITTLE RASCALS/OUR GANG box set and put in the first disc. I will watch these in order. I had time to watch about six of them, the earliest of the talkies. I had never seen "Railroadin'." I'm guessing the sound was so poor that local stations just didn't bother showing it back in the day. All of the others came back instantly as I watched them. Just fabulous.
-
Glad to hear that bk arrived safely in New York!
-
Continued vibes to Vixmom....
Love vixdad's remarks...
-
I next watched tonight's '24' movie - REDEMPTION. It was OK; had good action and an excellent performance by Robert Carlyle. Cherry Jones will be a regular this season as the President, and Powers Boothe was as excellent as usual as the outgoing Chief Executive.
Certainly an acceptable set-up for the new season.
-
The season finale of TRUE BLOOD was certainly memorable. Loved every second of it. Glad it'll be back in the summer of 2009. We won't have a wait a whole year for new episodes.

It sometimes amazes me how someone can make something so simple so convoluted...

DR Laura - Yes, I have looked in the freezer, the fridge, the crisper, the egg compartment...
jewelry box? Pencil can?

Great news PennyO!
-
When I went to CVS to get my licorice and batteries, I forgot the two other things I went there for - I'll have to get them tomorrow night when I come home.
-
Notes are written and will probably go up in about thirty minutes.
-
I'm going to head downstairs now and go to bed.
Good night!
