Well, you've read the notes, the notes had the rhythm of Bacharach, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently on their way to San Jose, and yes, they know the way.

And the word of the day is: PIXILATED!

Am I first again?

Ok, for Vixmom, I'll try to post some photos

It's all the same color, but I wasn't able to get a good photo at night - the ceiling is off white so it isn't ALL the same color

Here's the light switch I was complaining about the other night. Still have to figure out how to fix this

TOD: for some reason, my favorite Bacharach song has for years been "Always Something There To Remind Me" - and the song's subject matter has no grounding in anything I've ever experienced, but I love the song

Thanks for your comments in yesterday's postings, Cilla.

I stopped at the market on my way back from the band rehearsal, so I've put the groceries away, had a bit of cereal, and I'll watch THE AMAZING RACE before going to bed. I think tonight's benefit will be wonderful! There are some great folk I had hoped to hear tonight, like Liz Callaway, but I heard lots of others, all really wonderful, and there will be a lot of great moments I will be sorry to miss.
For me, the nostalgia blitz tonight was seeing Jill O'Hara doing her two numbers. In August, 1969, after summer theatre ended, I flew to New York for a week and saw her, Jerry Ohrbach, and the original cast of PROMISES PROMISES at the Shubert Theatre. It was a great production and it was nice to know that Jill O'Hara still has the vocal chops. She and Tony roberts were very wonderful together.
If any HHW folk are going to the event, can you please pick up for me a program?
-
"The moment I wake up, before I put on my make up, I say a little prayer for you..."
I've always liked I Say a Little Prayer even before "My Best Friend's Wedding"

Hope the show goes well tonight.

I posted this question rather late yesterday, probably after most people had signed off, so you'll please forgive my posting it again.
Has anybody here had experience with a screenwriting program called CELTX?
It's a free program that is supposed to convert your screenplay into various other formats (e.g. comic book, stage play, documentaries, etc.). It also does scheduling and a lot of other nifty stuff.
I'm always hesitant to download stuff off of the internet, so I'd appreciate hearing if anybody's had any issues with this program.
Thanks.

Yesterday DR Matt said,
Then I watched LAW & ORDER: SVU which was this week's episode repeated last night, based on DR td's recommendation.
I had NO IDEA DR td was going to be on the show (well, his doppleganger - Martin Mull)! Very good (and tragic) episode.
I mentioned this episode a few days back - - when doppleganger moi joined the cast of some other show along with Jane Curtain.
I hope that they push for an Emmy nomination for Mr. Mull, he's very good in a very uncharacteristic role.
-
Time for me to get some sleep. I have a lot going on at work this week and must get some rest

BK, that cab driver could be the next John Abraham or Akshay Kumar!

My friend Mustafa's bicycle was stolen this week, so I picked him up from his job at the Winco Deli tonight (busses don't run on Sundays).
He is working two jobs, 7 days a week now. The deli job on the weekends and a job teaching English to 4 army guys during the weekdays. He is loving the teaching job! Unfortunately it is only temporary.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm about to head for the bus back to NYC. Or something like that.
-
Yep! It's early!
Laters...
-
...And apparently it's early enough that I'm here before the bus driver is here. The bus is here, I'm here - along with my father - but the bus is still "off", so I guess we're going to wait for a bit.
-
And now that I've read the Notes...
I should be back in plenty of time to make it to tonight's benefit, but there's also a slim chance that I may have to attend to some business tonight once I'm back in town. So just in case I'm not able to make it tonight..

"Alfie" - Which got a nice mention in The Times in an article about "bel canto" singing.
"Knowing When To Leave" - The nervous energy!

Ah! It's a 7:15am departure time now. At least that's what the hand drawn sign says. And the bus driver is here now too. :)
-
And it looks like it could be a pretty full bus too. Hmmm..
-
...And I'm feeling sorry for the people who showed up this morning without having bought a ticket in advance. It looks like there are going to be a bunch of people who will have to the next bus... At midnight. :-\
-
...And for the ride up to DC I have a row to myself. Alas, the way this bus is configured, I have more legroom to the side of me than I do in front of me.
-
OK. Time to conserve the battery.

I'm up, I'm shaved, it looks like the rain has gone away and in about five minutes I'll shower. I'm going to try and get out of here by 8:20 and walk to the theater.

I was actually okay with the outcome. but i was really nervous watching the show knowing that one team would lose their passports/money and not finish. I had narrowed it down to nick/starr or toni/dallas, and it upset me that one of these teams would be out and the frat boys would most likely be in.
I was happy when in the first 5 minutes they showed starr saying "how are we ever going to get a taxi now" (since that was the line they showed in the preview misdirect making it seem like she had lost the passports). So i had a good feeling it wasn't them.
It is sad that the mom/dallas team are out. they were quite strong. But i do not think dallas would have been able to finish that statue task without tina's help. Plus they took the bus instead of the taxi. So it was mistake after mistake. I'm also curious why they did not just wait in the spot the taxi dropped him off. I would think that the next person in the taxi would have alerted the driver. And obviously he would have realized they were filming a tv show. I thought he might return the stuff. Or at least they could have called the cab company. I was also surprised that tina and ken could not find that last clue box. Not a good way for them to start the finals.
I could not believe how amazing nick was last night. he found the statues right away and was amazing at the subways. I can't remember seeing such an amazing leg. They look unbeatable. I am mad though that the frats are in the finals. If they win i will be furious. I don't find them to be a cinderella story at all. They are underdogs. But they are awful at the race. They make mistake after mistake. And they really do not deserve to be in the finals.

Well, like DR Jose's friends had done, I returned my LG Incite phone yesterday. Despite it's handy-dandy cool features, it has too many design flaws (an irratically responsive touch screen, layers of layers of menus to navigate, etc.)
I returned it to the AT&T store where I purchased it, planning on exchanging it for an actual iPhone. But after signing in and having to wait about fifteen minutes to be called, the guy who was to wait on me said that it would be better if Wendy, the woman who originally sold me the phone, handled the exchange. Wendy was busy selling phones to the King family and it was obviouse that she was going to be with them for a while. When I asked if he would handle me the guy again said that Wendy was "more knowlegable about my situation and would be better suited to do the exchange" and that she would be with me in a few minutes. After a half hour of a few minutes later, I went up to another clerk and told him that I couldn't wait any longer and that it was going to be a simple return. The clerk made it obvious that he was not happy about have to handle a return and seemed to take some delight in telling me that there was a $20 repackaging fee. I took as much delight in not mentioning that I didn't pay for the carrying case for which he refunded me $23.99.
My only mistake was that I allowed him to completely close out my AT&T account and I lost my cell phone number that I've had for about six years.
Afterwards, I drove around the cornor to the Verizon store where I signed up for a two-year contract and got a free Chocolate phone. It handles bluetooth and does voice dialing which is all I really need in a cell phone for now.
-
Last night when i was coming home i noticed that a lot more people had their Xmas lights on outside. And i even saw 4 houses with trees inside!
My inside tree is up and I had it lit for a while last night. I noticed that a few homes had outdoor lights up but not as many as usual. Probably due to the rainy weekend we had.

I agree completely. He deserves an Emmy nomination for a very atypical role and an excellent performance. SVU has won the guest Emmy something like three out of the last four years (or something similar). They do provide their guest stars with very dramatic, meaty material.

Hello, everyone.
A busy day for me. In addition to my usual Monday routine, today is the home inspection. So it's "We love your house. Now go!" time.

The Mitchell Leisen film "Remember the Night", with a Preston Sturges screenplay, starring Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray will be airing on TCM this month.
I have never seen this film but have been assured by folks whose opinions I value that it is a stirring film appropriate for this season, but it's a film that has seldom been seen on TV.
The first airing of it will be Dec. 13. It is on at 3 p.m. PST...if anyone is curious, check your listings for your area.

Because it was "topical" a few days back, and because I did a search and "found it", I am offering this re-print of my comments/thoughts about the live theatrical presentation of "White Christmas" when it played San Francisco back in 2005:
Re:AT ONE WITH ONE
« Reply #123 on: November 26, 2005, 08:02:13 PM »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m back from the thee’ah-tur on this chilly November day less than 30 days before Christmas.
The bill of fare was “Irving Berlin’s ‘White Christmas’” and what a grand spectacle it all was.
It was tuneful, beautiful, spectacular and a fine tribute to the 1954 Paramount film of the same name.
The set design was unbelievably gorgeous and sets changed so often I cannot imagine the complexity of it all. The changes were noiseless, almost all done in total darkness.
The music was classic Berlin: “Happy Holiday,” “Let Yourself Go,” “Love and the Weather,” “Sisters,” “The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing,” “Snow”, “What Do You Do With A General?”, “Let Me Sing and I’m Happy,” “Count Your Blessings,” “Blue Skies,” “I Love A Piano,” “Falling Out of Love Can Be Fun,” “Sisters” (Reprise w/the boys), “Love, You Didn’t Do Right By Me/How Deep Is the Ocean?” (nightclub sequence on a set that totally blew me away!!!), “We’ll Follow the Old Man,” “Let Me Sing and I’m Happy (Reprise), “How Deep is the Ocean” (Reprise), “We’ll Follow the Old Man” (Reprise), “White Christmas”, and for the Finale, “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm.”
“Let Yourself Go,” “I Love A Piano” and the "Finale" were full-blown extended ensemble numbers with some of the finest tapping I’ve had the pleasure of seeing. The choreography by Randy Skinner was wonderful.
The costumes were all 50s kitsch...and you’d swear Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen wore nothing snazzier than their counterparts in this show.
The plot is fairly faithful to the film, but the general’s granddaughter Susan is a 9-year-old visiting from California because she’s never seen snow! The general’s housekeeper, Martha, is no Mary Wickes. No, she’s a former showstopper herself and wrangles her way into Phil and Bob’s show all the while eavesdropping and jumping to Wickesian conclusions.
Susan Mansur plays Martha and she’s terrific. A HUGE voice and a heaping helping of charisma explode onstage every time she’s on.
Husband-wife performers Graham Rowat and Kate Baldwin play the Crosby-Clooney roles. Both have big voices. Baldwin really sells “Love You Didn’t Do Right By Me” and Rowat is fine, with a “trained” voice that gets in the way too often for my tastes. (To me, it’s as if he has a certain note he loves to hit and every time he hits it, it's extended and booming, but it’s seldom the note that “ought” to be accentuated. It’s a self-conscious voice, and I hate to say it, but Baldwin indulges in that self-consciousness a few times, too).
Not so the Kaye-Ellen counterparts. THE spectacular male performer in this show is Mark Ledbetter. He’s a hoofer, a singer with a great voice (a great interpretive singer who lets the song be sung) and he exudes more energy than just about anybody except Mansur who has less stage time. Shannon O’Bryan is Judy Haynes and she’s a Vera-Ellen look-alike, physically (from the Loge, at any rate), with a good voice and plenty of hoofing talent.
Ledbetter was front-and-center in both big ensemble numbers and had some good moments with O’Bryan and Howat, as well. To me, he was the standout performer in the company.
I’ve never been fond of the framing for the story...the sappy front-lines stuff and the later “because we love him, we love him...” stuff. Somebody fetch me an insulin sucret!
And the character development is nominal...we “know” these characters from the movie, so we get more songs and dances than we do dialogue (which is a pure-tee blessing since it’s all rooted in 1954 idiom).
The overall production, though, is splendiferous, and director Walter Bobbie has gotten everything to work...and it’s all magic, with the added Finale surprise of snow blowing out onto the audience for a reprise of "White Christmas."
A VERY enjoyable, delightful entertainment!
Note to Elmore3003: Larry, I hope the near-exact adherence to the film story won't get in the way of your enjoyment of the show. There are many differences and most are for the better.

"Nikki" is a sweet melody, too.

They are too far apart and there is a beam going through that will mess it up. So, I can redo a big chunk of the drywall and change the location of the switches or I can figure out a way to fill in the little gap. I'm going to try that first

-
I have been very busy this morning and now need to write a motion and two briefs....back to the salt mine
-
They are too far apart. The electrician had to come up with Jumbo sized face plates to make them fit this way. The holes behind them are very big. It's a good suggestion though, I'll measure and look around to see what I can find
DR Cillaliz, are the switches two separate switches behind the plates? If they are, couldn't they be replaced by a double side-by-side switch that would the fit the faceplate DR Derbrucer suggests? You would still have to patch the adjoining wall but that should be a minor repair.

Thank you, DR Ron Pulliam! I had been told a couple of years ago by friends working on the show that the new script changed the screenplay for the better. I'm still waiting for word on house seats, so maybe I'll call R&H today and get nosey about the situation.
While I'm thinking about San Francisco, this weekend I watched the new DVD release of the San Francisco Ballet's NUTCRACKER, set in San Francisco in 1915; it's quite a glorious production, with some beautiful designs and great orchestral accompaniment. I stilll prefer the City Ballet's version by Balanchine, which has a bit more humor and character in the Act One families, but I enjoyed this West Coast production enormously.

I played "Turkey Lurkey Time" yesterday in honor of the season.
TOD:
"Where Do I Go From Here" (although Hal David's contribution cannot be ignored)
"I Say a Little Prayer"
"She Likes Basketball" (particularly Mr. Haines' version)
"The Look of Love"
"The Things I Will Not Miss"
"A House Is Not a Home"
"One Less Bell"
"Walk On By"

PAGE 5!!!!

Hi, DR Kerry... ;D
-
"A House Is Not a Home"
"One Less Bell"
And here's one for Babs, singing both of them at once! :)
-
I think DR Michael Shayne has been checking his Dionne Warwick CD.
I don't think Mr Bacharach would claim "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". (Cynthia, Barry & Phil)
I've always liked the melody used in "Butch Cassidy ...." - "Where's There's A Heartache". The Sandpipers sing it on one of their albums.
"Windows Of The World" is also quite beautiful. Jimmie Rodgers had a wonderful version.
-
Our pleasure DR JMK!
I thought "Sharks of Australian Waters" would have been less welcome.
(Of course DR TCB probably does not know that "Austria" has sharks)
-
A conversation (and a resultant compilation on CD of versions of the theme) after watching "Laura" led me to eventually replace my old vinyl recording of Percy Faith's "Bouquet".
I'd not had "Bouquet of Love".
Such a beautiful CD.
(DR JMK will be pleased that others share his joy in Percy Faith recordings)
-
I will also list Diana Trask's recording of "Long Ago Last Summer" as a favourite Bacharach/David song.
-
I've been listening all day to THE LOOK OF LOVE: THE BURT BACHARACH COLLECTION on my iPod. This looks to me to be a cheapie 2-disc set, but I prefer it to the enormous TIMELESS compilation. Aside from being more concise, it has a recording of "Nikki", of which I'm also a fan. The only off-moment is an Areatha Franklin cover of "I Say a Little Prayer", which isn't bad but lacks the punch of the Dionne Warwick original.
-
Richard and I attended Mrs. Brown's memorial service this morning. Aside from those to whom I'm related by blood or by marriage, she was the woman who had the most influence on my life. It will take a while to recover from this one.
On a brighter note, I also had a doctor's appointment this afternoon and was told to stop taking the blood thinners - hoo and ray. Bring on the broccoli!
-
Those larger CD sets have the same problem as did the Readers Digest Boxed Sets of Records - they tend to stay on the shelf!
Randy Newman, Babs, Bacharach, Billy Joel, Elton John, Dusty Springfield, The Temptations, Jo Stafford, Marty Robbins, Chicago etc.
Of course they are stored on a different shelf - book Shelf!
-
Congratulations on the decision to give up rat poison in your diet DR Ginny.

Lovely to know that you were able to attend the service. There are few people (other than family)that we can single out as major influences on our journeys through life. Sad with her passing but also quite lovely that you shared that influence with the DRs here. I suspect that it has given a few of us cause to reflect on influences and choices.

Glad to give you the opportunity DR DtM.

DR Edi - I am so looking forward to the Mercer Documentary. Any chance that it will be finished in 2009 do you think?
-
On the not coming up with new ideas for American TV - it now seems that a USA version of wonderful UK Comedy "Gavin & Stacey" will be made.

I'm sorry Ginny-- grieving is a long and often unexpexted (and inconvenient) process. But you were there and knew what you had in your life (instead of realizing it after the fact). That is priceless.
Congratulaions on your blood! (Sounds like a new category of greeting cards!)

You've always been my favourite DR Edi!

The CLOSER team just dropped by. Apparently, they are really pushing to get me to come back and are putting together an editing room at Turner per my specs on exactly what I want for equipment, even though it's not a system that they use anymore. I have always turned down steady work there but they may be making me an offer I can't refuse as far as giving me flexibility to work on my own projects there. We haven't hashed out the details yet but apparently the producers I work with have had this in the works for months, but just told me today. I will still freelance if I want, but it's nice to know that I will have work waiting for me when Mercer is done!
-
Good news DR Edisaurus.
-
It's a beautiful day but cold. I probably should have worn a heavier jacket though there wasn't much walk from the car to the restaurant.
-
DR Edi,
THE CLOSER needs you, so if you can see your way clear to joining the team, please do so!
I do love the show so very much.
-
I spent most of my afternoon watching CHUNGKING EXPRESS, this time on Blu-ray. This is one time when the higher resolution works a bit against the film as some of the scenes have been shot with a gauzy sort of soft focus that then jump right into scenes without the softness, and the sharpness in contrast to the softness is really jolting sometimes.
Anyway, that finishes the first tier of Criterion Blu-rays. I start on another TRANSFORMERS animated set tomorrow.
-
I did have time left over to speed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Luke, Noah, and Brian were on. I really don't know where this is going, but it should be fun to see things develop.
-
Tonight I'll have time to watch last night's BROTHERS & SISTERS which I've yet to see a minute of.
-
Good Afternoon!
The bus pulled into Chinatown around 2:20, and then was up at 34th Street for the final drop-off around 2:30. Not a bad trip, but very interesting in a socio-behavioral manner. It really is amazing what happens when people claim that they were listening when they clearly were not - and there are others around them to inform them of that truth. ;)

Janis Hansen, ex-B66 member (not the actress on The Odd Couple), recorded the "hit" version of "Where There's a Heartache" (not that it was much of a hit, sadly) with her post-66 group The Carnival.
-
...And since I happened to have a copy waiting in the mail for me once I got back to my apartment, I'm currently listening to Traincha's first Bacharach Songbook CD, "The Look of Love". -Which could be seen as sort of a warm-up for tonight's benefit... If I make it there...
-
So, once I got back to the apartment, I proceeded to unpack my luggage... -Of course, there were more clean clothes in my suitcase than there were need-to-be-washed - and I thought I had underpacked this time. Ah, well.

DR Ginny - Thanks for sharing your morning and your memories with us today. As DR Tomovoz mentioned, it has caused me to pause me more than once today to remember those who have gone before us.
-
Thank you to DRs Tomovoz, Kerry, and Jose for your supportive words. My sadness is tinged with a little bit of guilt that I had not been very attentive to Mrs. B for the past year or so. She lived in the same building as my mother-in-law and, after Harriet died, it was difficult to go there.

Had a wonderful lunch today with Mustafa and two of the three army guys he is teaching Arabic to. Both guys (just kids, really) will be heading over to Iraq next spring-ish, but have been in the army for several years now.
Super nice guys...one is going to e-mail me his Myspace page so that I can hear his singing/songwriting...he also writes a lot of fiction (is working on about 6 different book ideas) and speaks a little each of French, German, Spanish, as well as being very well versed in Arabic. Quite a lot in only 26 years of life!
the other guy is mostly into sports and has a young wife and baby and lives on $24,000 a year...how, I do not know! I had no idea these guys were paid so little. Actually, he said that when he was in Montana, that was plenty of dough...but here in Oregon, it is quite a struggle.
I do hope they stay safe while overseas.
-
I hope it works out that I can do both. After 4 years on The CLOSER, it's been nice to have a break, but I think CLOSER will crank back up in April and I may not be done yet. We'll see...
TNT has lots of new original shows coming up that look really good, so if it doesn't time out right, at least I can go on to another show.

Way to go, DR Edi!

The minutes tick away.....the cast of the review must be having a great time rehearsing and getting set for the show.......does each performer do his/her own makeup? Are the costumes coordinated?
I can only hope that Mssrs. Kimmel & Cates did a better job with "Things I Will Not Miss" that Mr. Hermes Pan did....his staging of that song (for me) was a low point in a movie that was already pretty low.....

DR EDISAURUS this is wonderful and exciting news.

...And I've thought a lot about Mark Wayne Gregory (http://tinyurl.com/5jrv2j) today, and over the past few days too.
There's a strange consolation in realizing that he passed away 12 year ago. I started thinking back to how much time we spent together, and how our paths crossed in the first place, and, unfortunately, how our "lives got in the way" once I was in school and he had moved down to North Carolina. But I still think about him, and I'm forever grateful to him for showing me the true meaning of Bravery. -As well as sharing his massive collection of LPs: cast albums, vocalists, classic disco, even opera. I realized that we had only really known each other "actively" for about three years, but those three years were filled with so many life experiences for both of us.
I was one of his "chauffeurs" when he was dealing with the government lawsuit. I was there when his partner, Larry, died. I was there when we sent off Larry's Quilt Panel to the Names Project, and when, after searching unsuccessfully for a couple of anxious minutes, we spotted Larry's panel being unfurled on the National Mall. He was there the one time I "ran away" from home. He was there when we saw Les Miserables for the first time, and the third(!) time. -I would have never noticed what Valjean was packing in his chest during the Act One finale of Les Miserables. Something so small, but at the same time so big, so meaningful. And I know he was there when I just happened to come across his obituary years later, which then allowed me to properly say, "Thank You and Goodbye", to him during his Memorial Service - which happened to coincide with the final(?) display of the Quilt on the National Mall. That turned out to be a Beautiful weekend in many respects. A couple of Beautiful days for a Beautiful Person. And thousands upon thousands of other Beautiful People.

I gave my car an early Xmas present Saturday. I went in for an oil change...and $600 dollars later, baby had new (brake) shoes, a new belt and other automobile attire. Ouch.

I will not be at said event. I'm exhausted after unloading the truck and setting up the room and filling two sets of bags. We have a lot more work ahead of us in the next 9 days. I'm going to take a shower and go to bed early.
I will be attending the dinner tomorrow at John's Pizza at 8pm but I'm just too beat to attend the benefit. I knew I would be but just wanted to mention why I'm not there. I look forward to a full report tomorrow.
-
I'm on my way to the benefit.
Ben - looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night.
-
A do is a do, no matter the night.
-
They are too far apart.
I'll check into that
-
30 minutes, ladies and gentlemen
This is your thirty minute call.
-
And I do owe a big Thank You to DR Cillaliz, Priscilla, for helping me find Mark's obituary and other information. I guess I must have been looking too closely at the Google results. It is true that sometimes the thing you're looking for is right in front of your eyes.
You are most welcome, Jose. I'm glad I was able to help you.
-
The only problem with changing the light switches is then I have to patch the hole that will be left in the drywall. Hmmm one way or another...

Well, I suppose that I should be leaving for the theater, soon. Tonight, we'll have some lights...not all, but some. :) Last night, I bought some new black pants (jeans that don't really look like jeans) for my police costume, and I'm definitely going to wear these when the show's over. I just hope my hem job (and that's NOT a euphemism ;)) holds up. I don't want to have to fix it every night.
We'll see. ;D
-
Places please.
Places for the top of the show.....
This is your places call, ladies and gentlemen.
-
Just to be non-lyrical for a moment, I love "Pacific Coast Highway," Burt's nifty tune featuring ocarina.
LOL!
Bacaharch did music for "A William Higgins Film?" :o
-
TOD:
I'll have to add Tick Tock Goes The Clock
-
To some it is the start of the Christian New year; to others it is World AIDS Day. Either way a good excuse to light a candle. And yes, I've worn a red ribbon all day.

Don't forget, "QUIET BACKSTAGE!!!!!!!"

Today is also the birthday of Woody Allen, Richard Pryor and Bette Midler! ;D
-
And now, I'm off. Until later!
-
Good evening all.
Well, I survived my first day back at work, and Jed survived his first day home with Toby. He'll have him for the rest of the week. I missed my baby terribly all day, but I enjoyed being back at work. There's a lot to do to get my classroom back in shape, and I'm glad to be busy again.
Wishing many broken extremities to the benefit people tonight.
-
Good news from DR Samantha. The prednisone is helping. They changed her meds a little today and she's doing the nebulizer thing, but she didn't have to go to the hospital. She goes back on Thursday and if she isn't better than today, they will run more tests. But for now, it's better. She said to thank everyone for the vibes and after she gets out of a friend's sauna, she will try to stop by to say hello.
-
I have had a long day at the office. I got many things accomplished. I brought some work home and may start on it later, but my brain was toast when I got home, so I'm taking a break. Tomorrow is an office day (no court or appointments) so may just wait and do the work tomorrow.
-
Hmmm, I didn't feel like stopping at Curves tonight. Maybe I'll go clean off the treadmill and go for a walk in the basement
-
The board is working! I am so glad. It wasn't working at all this morning - at least for me.
-
John Barrowman seems to be guilty of overexposure (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcasting/a137190/bbc-sorry-over-barrowman-exposure.html) during a recent interview.
This is old news; the stories of his willingness to drop his pants in public are many.

No problems evident in Austria.
The home of care filled torte. (A South Pacific Reference) Sacher it to me.

Have you ever heard anyone comment along the lines of:
"Oh, that old thing? AGAIN?"
-
Our pleasure DR JMK!
I thought "Sharks of Australian Waters" would have been less welcome.
(Of course DR TCB probably does not know that "Austria" has sharks)
Are they way up in the Alps?
-
Richard and I attended Mrs.
Ginny, I am so sorry to read about the death of your dear friend and mentor. I am sure that you will miss her.
-
Thank you, DR TCB.
-
Okay, it's time for bed. I am very tired. I look forward to accounts of the benefit tonight.
-
The benefit tonight was great!!!
-
And it opened with my favorite Bacharach song "Almost Something There to remind Me." And ended with lovely bubbles, which were like big raindrops falling on our heads. "Turkey Lurkey time" was thrilling as expected, but so many thrills.

...And I've thought a lot about Mark Wayne Gregory (http://tinyurl.com/5jrv2j) today, and over the past few days too.
I guess I didn't find the connection to Mark Wayne Gregory. Perhaps someone could explain to me the error of my ways.
Still, I certainly didn't mind seeing John Pagano's photo. Woof!
-
Had a marvelous evening of entertainment. I began with last night's BROTHERS & SISTERS. A pretty good episode. Nice to see the family getting along and not down each other's throats. Nice to see Scottie just one of the brothers.
-
Next, I watched in HD the musical HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN. This is one of my all-time favorite movie musical scores, and in HD, the picture has never looked richer or more glorious. This was Farley Granger at the height of his beauty even if the character he's playing is one of the most selfish and thoughtless in movie history.
-
Then I watched tonight's episode of CHUCK. It was one of the best of the season, an Adam Baldwin-centered tale and he certainly rose to the occasion in tonight's spotlight. Great to see Bruce Boxleitner and Morgan Fairchild as Captain Awesome's parents. Perfect casting.
-
And HEROES was OK, though some of these people have switched sides back and forth so many times you need a scorecard to keep up. Still, I'll be eager to see how they bring Arthur down.
-
And I ended my evening watching a couple more OUR GANG shorts. Always amusing; I'm still in the Jackie Cooper era.
-
....and Miss Crabtree!
-
Teri Garr is all over the place in VIVA LAS VEGAS, which does not have a Bacharach score.
-
I stopped at Big Lots and they had a lot of good movies for only $3 each. I picked up ON THE TOWN, NATIONAL VELVET (Christmas gift), GIG ( Christmas gift), DAMES, THE MAN WITH TWO BRAINS (Christmas gift), and DIE ANOTHER DAY (Christmas gift).
-
DR FJL is right; there were thrills aplenty at tonight's benefit. I'm too tired to go into any detail right now, but bk did a splendid job. Everything flowed wonderfully, and I think I needed a seatbelt during Turkey Lurkey Time. :D
-
Great to hear that the benefit was a success!
-
I'm looking forward to seeing SPAMALOT on Wednesday night. The tour is here for a week. I saw it during its first year on Broadway and laughed myself silly. Hoping it's as funny the second time around.
-
BK has asked that those of us who are gathering at John's Pizza on Tuesday gather a little earlier, at 7:30 rather than 8. (BK has a very early flight on Wednesday morning.)
-
Somehow the alarm on the clock radio in my kitchen was turned on and went off before 6:00 AM, so I got up, got ready and went to work. It was a long day and I'm tired. Think I'll go to sleep and try to get up that early again. I have a lot to do tomorrow and an early start would be a big boost.
-
So, good night. And congrats to all involved in Bacharach to the Future
-
....and Miss Crabtree!
Yes. The next one is "Love Business" where Jackie and Chubby vie for Miss Crabtree's affections.
-
Good Evening!
I'm back, I'm back... From the benefit that is.
And what a truly swell event it was. Kudos to everyone involved, but especially our very own bk, his choreographer, Adam Cates, and the amazing Alex Rybeck!
And it was nice to see a lot of familiar faces on stage as well as in the audience too! I actually ended up sitting next to Anthony Barille!* -Who informed that they are doing a 15th Anniversary Concert of Tommy in two weeks. Must find tickets NOW!
*And I had just watched "Kiss Me Guido" the other night too!
-
I'm heading downstairs to bed myself.
Good night!
-

I'm happy to hear that the benefit was a success! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

And, yes, "Turkey Lurkey Time" was most definitely a high point of the evening. ENERGY! ENERGY! ENERGY!
-
OY... I just realized the "headache" I have is a "you've been up since 4:45am and need to get some sleep" headache, so...
Goodnight.

I'm finally back. Went out to eat with Adam and his dancers, and then lots of other folks connected with the show ended up coming to the restaurant.
I have to write the notes now and I'll of course go into the show in detail - Reader's Digest version: I could not have been more pleased.
