RE: "Ain't Misbehavin'"
Nell Carter, who starred in the Broadway version and (I believe) won a Tony, was briefly my publicity client when the show played Los Angeles.
Nice lady, but she had a lot of problems.

The antique and collectible realms should be buzzing - thanks to the double-dose of Sun and Moon in Taurus, following last night's dynamic Taurus New Moon. Everything connected to tangible assets and art objects is riding high and looking favorable. Enjoy gardening, planting routines and outdoor experiences to the hilt.
Get ready for the arrival of psychic and emotional thunderstorms tomorrow as Mars is approaching a highly volatile square to Pluto (exactly forming at 9:12AM PDT on Sunday).

And now I am off to work. Oh well.
-
Good morning, all! I have nowhere to go today and not much to do besides work, so that's my plan. I will continue to footnote my main report on Babes In Toyland and then work on either Loesser or Moross for a while.
I loved AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' and saw the original production twice. I saw JACQUES BREL . . . several times at the Village Gate as well as tours in Cincinnati and Philadelphia. Sometime in the early 1980s, I have a vague memory that Elly stone, Mort Shuman and two others did the show in the Lincoln Center bandstand. It's too vague now.

Good morning!
Well, the heat wave that California experienced early in the week has now reached us. We're going to have mid-to-high 80s today and for the next five days with rain in the forecast only on Wednesday. Argh! Too early for temps in the 80s, that's for sure!
-
The only revues I have ever seen on the stage were really masterful ones: AIN'T MISBEHAVIN', SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM, and AND THE WORLD GOES 'ROUND.
I guess the movie of NEW FACES OF 1952 counts, and, of course, it's loads of fun.
-
My favourite review was WHAT IF...by our own inimitable...BK!

NBC taped AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' and aired it during the 1981-1982 TV season. I'll bet someone around here has a copy of that show.
-
As I mentioned last night, my work project today will be rewatching the X-MEN movies so I can get a jump start on that massive Blu-ray set that's heading my way.
I should also be getting the Blu-ray of DEXTER - Season 2 in the mail, but it's not due for release for a couple of weeks so there's time to get to it (and I've already reviewed the DVD set anyway, so the major work with that is already done.)
-
I'd loved to have seen TWO'S COMPANY with Bette Davis. And, of course, the other NEW FACES revues would have been fun. Lots of revues from the 1930s like AS THOUSANDS CHEER and THE BAND WAGON have gone down in history.
-
Oh, I forgot to mention CLOSER THAN EVER. It's a marvelous revue with every single song a winner.

I'm up, the sky is blue, and I am PINK.
-
Shayne, yes, I'm going to see No Way To Treat A Lady in a week - its author e-mailed and arranged tix for me.

I'm up (barely) and awake (uh-huh) and I (desperately) need coffee (right now)!
Am going to Trader Joe's this morning for a bit of shopping (I need COMFORT foods). I also need to get gas.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I didn't finish taping up my boxes until sometime around 3:45am last night/earlier this morning.
*Of course, if I had not been watching (bad) TV last night and surfing the interwebs, I probably would have gotten done sooner. Prolly.
-
But, again, I'm already up, and I've already been to the post office.
*And I have to say that the Mount Pleasant, SC, post office is truly one of the most, if not the most pleasant post office I've ever been in. -When the line got two(!!) deep, the main clerk called for more clerks to come out front!

DR JRand - We have a closing matinée tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 which will be followed by strike. No real closing night party, but there will be a late, post-strike party Sunday night.

I have had to turn the fan on in my office for the first time in 2009. It's 11:30, and it's already warm upstairs. Downstairs will be cooler, of course, but I'm also wearing shorts instead of sweat pants this morning for the first time in 2009.

And now I'm going to head downstairs to check the mail and then get started on preparing some luncheon.

I'm currently back at Baked for some coffee and a "Jammer". (Pic to follow, of course.)

I had to take a break from reading THE HEARTS OF HORSES to do a little geography research. Several times Pilot Rock is mentioned which totally confused me. I see Pilot Rock in the distance almost every day (http://www.oregontrails.com/Page.aspx?ID=15 ). The descriptions of the surrounding areas in the novel don’t match my Pilot Rock. I’ve now learned there is another Pilot Rock in Oregon (http://www.cityofpilotrock.org) and the county the book takes place in is a made up county based on Wallowa County near Pendleton, Oregon. I feel much better having sorted this out.
I have read a number of books that mention Pilot Rock & they all referred to the “pilot” they followed on the Oregon Trail from California to Oregon. One book even mentions the first coach stop in Oregon which just happens to be located at the bottom of our road. 8) Recently it was turned into a lovely B & B.

Good Afternoon!
Well... I decided to head back to the apartment to do some cleaning and get a head start on packing my luggage. However, since the vacuum cleaner just broke - I think some internal fuse just blew - I'm taking that as a sign that I'm supposed to be out and about taking in a bit more of "The Holy City" before I head in for tonight's pre-show photo-call.
Sounds like a plan to me. ;)

When Gloria DeHaven left a show, is it apocryphal or did a newspaper actually carry the headline AIN'T MISS DeHAVEN?
-
BK - If the number in question was "What did I do to be so black and blue" - That number did get standing, whooping and hollering back when I saw it in the original production's run thirty years ago.
A middle-of-show reaction of the likes I had previously seen only after "City Lights" in THE ACT.

Does anyone know if the (seemingly obvious) use of "Different Worlds (Theme from ANGIE)" as a parody of SWEENEY TODD has been done in any major venue, such that if did one I should worry about being accused of being a copycat?
The "Love it seeks, love it finds, love it conquers, love it binds" seems to cry out for being reworked with "Lovett" instead of "love it."
This is my rough sketch of the parody.
(celebrating the simultaneous 30th anniversary year of the TV show ANGIE and the debut of SWEENEY TODD, imagine a TV sitcom about Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovett)
Let the crimes grow, let the blood flow
Let the swain glower, let the love sour
Lovett bakes and Lovett brines
Lovett’s bonkers, Lovett pines
She pines but that guy loves a different girl;
She plots and she plans ‘til she earns the fella’s trust
She’s sure that he can’t love that different girl
Then there’s lots of noise an’
She tells him she died from poison
Let the crimes grow, let the blood flow
Let the swain glower, let the love sour
Lovett freaks then Lovett finds
Lovett conquers, Lovett grinds
She grinds while she drives off that different girl
She does it for love that might stand the test of time
Her love gets his mind off that different girl
With this love they harbor
It’s such fun to be a barber
Let the crimes grow, let the blood flow
Let the swain glower, let the love sour
Lovett bakes and Lovett brines
Lovett’s bonkers, Lovett pines
Lovett seeks and Lovett finds
(Lovett sneaks and Lovett finds
Lovett conquers)
Lovett gri-i-i-i-i-i-inds
Lovett seeks and Lovett finds
Lovett conquers, Lovett gri-inds

I am slightly in shock after having visited the theater where The Producers will run this summer. I haven't played this place since a major multimillion dollar remodel a few years ago. I was shown the "pit" today and had assumed it couldn't possibly be worse than the old one, which was actually a little attic space you had to literally climb up a ladder to get to, with no view of the stage. Well this new one is a pit, kind of, but it's "terraced," with three levels that can't see each other. The mind boggles.
-
Fred, I don't know if the song has been used before, but your parody lyrics are funny! :D
-
Thanks, George!
It seems interesting that TV's ANGIE and Angie in Bway's SWEENEY TODD premiered within the same four week span.
-
JMK - Will there be monitors or TV's in the pits for communication between the people?
-
JMK - Will there be monitors or TV's in the pits for communication between the people?
Well, another MD who's done a lot of shows there since the remodel told me that that's what he's done, but it sounded like he paid for that himself. There's no way I'm going to pay for video monitors due to this idiotic design.

Hello, everyone.
Just back from the usual Saturday morning excursion to the doggie park, which is always fun. Gorgeous day here, too.

One should not wear sandals to the doggie park. (No, I knew better.) One should also be prepared to get knocked down--or close--on occasion due to frisky, playful dogs.

Just wanted to say hello. It's a beautiful Saturday outside.
I have not read the notes or posts since Wednesday night. Will do that later today.
Went to the dentist Thursday (boring story) (I'm having food withdrawls) as I can not eat anything that is hard, crunchy, sticky, or chewy for 14 days. So I am cranky.
Will catch up later, after I snap out of it.

I'm trying to convince myself that at least I'll take off about 10 pounds. Now that is a positive thing.
Till later.

Thank you for asking. It seems to have stopped spreading. My face is almost all cleared up. The patches scattered around my body are much better. I lunched with Bea Arthur (and a few others) once and found her delightfully delightful.
-
I ordered new glasses yesterday. I'll be able to get them in a week to 10 days. My doctor told me many interesting things including that I would be a perfect candidate for lasik surgery - (something I've never been interested in) but he told me that because I'm near sighted, if I had the surgery I could see far away, but would lose my close up vision and would have to wear reading glasses. He suggested I never do it, and I agree

Back from the Hollywood Show (as it's now called) - pretty crowded, but one of the most lacklustre gatherings I've ever seen there. The crowds were there for one reason and one reason only - the cast of Back To The Future and sequels, including Lea Thompson and Christopher Lloyd - I think they've only done this once before and certainly not in LA. The lines were out the door and four thick. They may as well have called it a Back To The Future convention - there were at least eight dealers who were ONLY selling BTTF stuff. I can't even remember who I saw there - Richard Erdman, Warren Berlinger, Gil Gerard, Linda Harrison, George Kennedy (looking SO old), Johnny Whitaker, and that's about it for people I knew. Shocking, really - but as long as they pull off a BTTF sort of deal, they'll be fine. It also seems that there have been more dealers there for the last couple of shows, a good thing.
-
In an hour I'll be having an early supper, then relaxing, then listening to the House Of Flowers master, then going to the Totally Hidden Video reunion partay.
-
Very sorry to read that about Bea Arthur.
-
Very, very warm here this afternoon. My downstairs is still cool enough to do without air conditioning, but without the fan running upstairs, it'd be miserable up here.
-
I watched GHOST WHISPERER while I ate lunch. Not the greatest episode (the one about a soap opera filming in Grandview), but the last five minutes of the show effectvely put a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.
-
Then I watched X-MEN. I hadn't seen this in four or five years, so I had forgotten great portions of it. Very entertaining and a wonderful metaphor for homophobia contained in the movie.
-
I was disappointed to see that I only have the one disc version of X-MEN, and there are only a few bonus features on this edition. I'll watch them tonight, but it's not going to give me a major leg up on the review of the Blu-ray set I thought it would.
My two disc X2: X-Men United does have the full quota of bonus features. I'll likely spend tomorrow working with it.
-
Heading back downstairs for more action with the mutants of X-Men. Then to some bonus features and will likely top off the night with an hour of television from earlier in the week: either SMALLVILLE or FLASHPOINT.

I'm now off to work concessions at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. This weekend (yesterday and today) in Olympia is ArtsWalk (http://www.theolympian.com/topstories/story/831218.html), where a lot happens. ;) The WCPA has its doors open with performers on both stages and art displayed throughout the theater. It's a big, fun celebration that ends with the Procession of the Species, where "costumed humans representing nature will process through downtown."
Have a good day, all!

The Associated Press is reporting that Bea Arthur has died at 86.
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2009/04/25/arts/AP-US-Obit-Arthur.html
That comes as a shock!
As sad as I am about her passing, her death is not a shock to me. I saw a photograph of her attending some awards show or other a few months back and I remember thinking that she did not look well at all.
It's really been a shame that to a generation of young people Bea Arthur's name had become synonymous with "extremely unattractive". I feel very lucky that I got to know her through her performance as MAUDE and as Dorothy in THE GOLDEN GIRLS. She's given me hours of laughter over the years.

She pines but that guy loves a different girl;
She plots and she plans ‘til she earns the fella’s trust
She’s sure that he can’t love that different girl
Then there’s lots of noise an’
She tells him she died from poison
Let the crimes grow, let the blood flow
Let the swain glower, let the love sour
Lovett freaks then Lovett finds
Lovett conquers, Lovett grinds
She grinds while she drives off that different girl
She does it for love that might stand the test of time
Her love gets his mind off that different girl
With this love they harbor
It’s such fun to be a barber
Let the crimes grow, let the blood flow
Let the swain glower, let the love sour
Lovett bakes and Lovett brines
Lovett’s bonkers, Lovett pines
Lovett seeks and Lovett finds
(Lovett sneaks and Lovett finds
Lovett conquers)
Lovett gri-i-i-i-i-i-inds
Lovett seeks and Lovett finds
Lovett conquers, Lovett gri-inds
:D :D :D
Don't remember if I ever posted this here, but...
(Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett seated at the harmonium)
Todd: Boy, the way Pirelli bled
Mrs. Lovett: Pies I made from his fat head
Todd: Guys like him I soon shaved dead
Both: Those were the days!
Mrs. Lovett: And you slew who no one knew
Todd: Everyone went down with brew
Both: Mister we could use a man
Like Beadle Bamford to chew.
Todd: Offered shaves at a cut rate
Mrs. Lovett: More hot pies they ate and ate
Both: Gee, our barber chair worked great.
Those were the days!

Anyone in LA going to see the musical NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY?
BK produced the Broadway cast album and is one of my favorites
The "hidden" track is a hoot.
Is this show based on the Rod Steiger picture about a serial killer?
Yes

Why not posting #1
My IPod 16,093 (Although they are not 16,093 different tracks. For example I have:
8 versions of Accentuate The Positive, 31 Send in the Clowns (Cast recordings [including reprises] and vocal versions) ,12 versions of Music of the Night ( One in Chinese)
Michael, do you have the Swedish version of "Send in the Clowns" called "Var Ar Min Clown" by Anni-Frid Lyngstad (the brunette from ABBA) on her album, Frida Ensam (http://www.amazon.com/Frida-Ensam/dp/B00005J8MW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1240685869&sr=1-2)? I actually have this CD with me at work right now. There is also a newer, remastered 13-track reissue (http://www.amazon.com/Ensam-Frida/dp/B0009HL8DW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1240685903&sr=1-1) with two bonus tracks, but I don't have that.
Just curious. :)
I would LOVE to hear a Swedish cast recording of A Little Night Music. ;D
No I don't have those recordings

Some people just don't appreciate the Lambada.
-
Places, please! We are at places!
This one is for Bea!
-
Vixdad had plans for the day so the Vixter and I sat in the sunny back yard for a while and read. The we decided to go out for a car ride
We stopped at a few garage sales and browsed and chatted with people
Then we went to Checkers ( a fast food place in teh neighborhood, it's been here at least 15 years and I have never been to it).
We had coupons that enable me to geta hotdog, fries and coke for 99 cents and teh Vixter got a "Big Buford" which is a double hamburger with cheesw, tomato, lettuce and tomato, (although she had them hold everything but the meat ) and order of fries and a coke for only $2.99
They do not have any inside seating but they have several nice tables with umbrellas set up on a patio and speakers palying mellow seventies music all around. It was very pleasnt sitting tehr inteh sunshine listening ti the nice music and chatting with the Vixter
I was able to eat the whole hotdog (albeit without teh bun which was too difficult for me to swallow) and several fries
A good eating day for me!!
And they gave us 2 more sheets of coupons so we can go back again
-
Thank you DR Vixmom. I'm very happy you had another nice day, and continue to eat. Are you still supplementing with cans?
-
The Vixter decided that she does not want a cake for her birthday, she wants cupcakes instead so we went to the grocery store and bought some vanilla cake mix and vanilla icing so we can bake them Tuesday afternoon.
On her birthday she must sing in a high school concert so afterwards we can have her grandparents and my brother and his fiancee over for cupcakes and ice cream.
-
Thank you DR Vixmom. I'm very happy you had another nice day, and continue to eat. Are you still supplementing with cans?
I have not had a can since Thursday, they make me feel very full and bloated so it is hard to keep eating. I am trying to eat enough so that I can maintain my weight and then they will allow me tohave the feeding tube removed
If I find I am losing weight again I will start supplementing again, I still have about a dozen cans in the cupboard and I can get more if I need them
-
Well Vixdad just came home and is looking for dinner so laters all!!

memorable lines
Dorothy: Rose, I know this is a long shot, but did you take much acid during the sixties?
Dorothy: Blanche, are you sure you're pregnant?
Blanche: I just did a home pregnancy test - it's right here.
Rose: It looks like a perfume sample.
Dorothy: Put it behind your ears, Rose.
Rose and Dorothy confront Blanche about sleeping with Gil Kessler, Rose says to Blanche regarding the newspaper article]
Rose: Then why does it say the explosion was so great it shattered windows in a building 10 blocks away?
Dorothy: [Holding her head] Rose, that was an article about an earthquake in GUATAMALA.
Dorothy: [to Sophia] Get back here, you deceitful little Sicilian gekko!
Dorothy: It's wonderful dating in Miami. Every single man under eighty sells cocaine.
Dorothy: Blanche, have you heard of the latest campaigns? "Join the navy, see the world... sleep with Blanche Devereaux"? "Join the army, be all you can be... sleep with Blanche Devereaux"?
[getting angry]
Dorothy: "The marines are looking for a few good men who have *not* slept with Blanche Devereaux"!
Walter Findlay: Maude, did you wreck the car again?
Maude Findlay: Did you hear that, everybody? DID YOU HEAR THAT? Not "Maude, are you sick?" Or "Maude, are you unhappy?" Or even, "Maude, are you pregnant?" No, "Maude, did you wreck the car again?"
Walter Findlay: You're right, darling. You're absolutely right. I'm sorry. So tell me, are you sick?
Maude Findlay: No.
Walter Findlay: Are you unhappy?
Maude Findlay: No.
Walter Findlay: Are you pregnant?
Maude Findlay: Yes.
Maude Findlay: [At a funeral] I am not having a good time here.
Maude Findlay: [referring to Carol's ample bosom] To think I bought you your first training bra. Look how you've broken training.
Walter Findlay: [arguing with Maude because she agrees the housekeeper should keep her maiden name after she's married] Well, if you feel that way, why didn't you keep your maiden name when we got married?
Maude Findlay: Because by the time we got married I couldn't remember it!

Back from my haircut and errands. When Richard gets back from his honor guard duties (military funeral), we'll go to Bath & Body Works and Barnes & Noble for some more items for the Japanese Cherry Blossom gift basket I'm creating for a silent auction.
Hey! I got a hair cut today too!. Yesterday I saw an ad for Bobbi Brown cosmetics and it reminded me of our make-overs (DRs Danise, Jane, Ginny and Me) in New York. It would be fun to do that again.
That was fun. I still have a couple of the products left. I remember how shiny we all looked afterward ;D
Oh, yes, we were shiny and here's proof...

And remember, as we were leaving the store, a rep from one of the other companies asked if we'd like to have our make-up done?

Right ;D ;D
Danise & I were really shinning, Ginny & Cilla look much better. :)

Every once in awhile I highlight my hair just about Cilla's color in that photo. I suddenly had an urge to surprise Keith for our anniversary & do it again. I'm not sure if I will. I never keep it & it is such a pain to grow out. It would really be fun for the summer & I'm very, very tempted. What is holding me back is the fact I'm not sure I want to be strawberry blond in Bryan's wedding photos. I think he has set the date for August 2nd.

Well, I need to think about turning in for the night, because I have to get up at 5:30 in the morning. We're going to Lima, OH, for Richard to conduct Morning Prayer at Church of the Holy Nativity.

My afternoon became a lazy day; I watch half of the wonderful OUR MUTUAL FRIEND; another amazing cast including the great Margaret Tyzack, and a Dickens plot of hidden identities, missing heir, murder, sudden wealth, two heroines, evil creeps, goodness and generosity, and a frightening psychopath.
I think I will watch at 11 the first episode of this season's LAE & ORDER: CI and pass out. Tomorrow I've got a friend's senior recital at noon at Manhattan School of Music followed by a performance of DIE FLEDERMAUS with Jason Graae as a guest artist.
-
God'll get you for that, Walter.

Did anyone watch Barbra Streisand's special on CBS tonight? I was busy with my work project, so I did not watch or record it. But I'd love to hear some opinions if anyone did watch it.

Watch Barbra Streisand INSTEAD of COPS? Come on, now, DR MATTH.
I was watching Throw Down with Bobby Flay and House Hunters.

I spent the first part of my evening watching the bonus features on the X-MEN DVD. There was Hugh Jackman's screen test and some deleted scenes and a 22-minute TV special on the film's premiere disguised as a faux-news show with Bruce Davison's senator character giving a press conference. Fairly effective but it kept going back and forth between EPK stuff and the fictional character played by Davison.
-
Then, since I had time, I went ahead and watched X-MEN 2 to get that out of the way clearing tomorrow for the bonus features on disc two.
-
There were two audio commentaries with the second film, and I sampled both of them, but I'll need to listen to more tomorrow to get a better idea of each of them.

From
http://www.michaelbarrier.com/
April 25, 2009:
Ken Annakin, who died last Wednesday at the age of 94, was that great rarity among the people who made Walt Disney's live-action features, a director whose own sensibility shaped the films in significant ways. The typical Disney director—the kind of director Walt favored, alas—was a faceless traffic cop, but in Annakin's four Disney films the actors make up a true ensemble, each of them responding to one another with a seeming genuineness that has few parallels in other Disney features or, for that matter, in live-action features generally.
My favorite among Annakin's Disney features is Third Man on the Mountain (1959); I write about it and another of his features, Swiss Family Robinson (1960), on a page devoted to the DVDs of live-action Disney. Two of Annakin's Disney features, The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men and The Sword and the Rose, have not yet been released on generally available DVDs, and that's unfortunate; they're charming films that deserve to be seen.
Annakin made other good films, but not as many as he had in him, I'm sure, and some that he did make would have been better if he'd had his way. He wanted Dick Van Dyke to star in what is perhaps his most famous non-Disney film, Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965), but for reasons he explains in his 2001 autobiography, So You Wanna Be a Director, he wound up with Stuart Whitman instead. Watch the film sometime and imagine Van Dyke in the Whitman part, and I think you will understand immediately why Annakin was right.
I spent a couple of hours with Ken Annakin and his wife, Pauline, in Los Angeles four years ago, interviewing them for The Animated Man: A Life of Walt Disney, and I came away liking them both. One of the great pleasures of working on that book was meeting and interviewing a few of the people who worked on the Disney live-action features, a badly neglected part of Walt's output. Ken Annakin, Richard Todd, Fess Parker, James MacArthur (by phone), and others whose names are less familiar illuminated Walt's personality and helped me understand why too many of his live-action features fell short of his best work in animation—and they were a lot of fun to talk to, besides.
-
I ended my evening watching an NCIS episode from the second season box set. A nice little budding romance for McGee cut short when the girl was witness to a murder and she herself was killed. Not much of a problem figured out who did it since the pool of suspects was very limited.

Am watching my weekend Bollywood movie...a grade Z horror-trash-thriller from 2003 called JUNGLE KI NAGIN starring bodybuilder-turned-actor Amit Pachori and some other people.
It is about a young couple who battle a Nagin (she-cobra). It is lots of fun but really, really bad!

Back from an unexpectedly interesting partay. It turned out not to be just a Totally Hidden Video reunion, but other hidden camera shows on which my friend Maura Soden had worked. So, I really only knew a couple of people there besides David Wechter. But as I walked into the beautiful Encino home, which I thought was Maura's house, I saw a beautiful woman who looked instantly recognizable - she looked at me as if she recognized me. She said, "We've met, right?" I said we must have but wasn't sure where. Then Maura introduced us, telling me the gal's name was "Charmie". It took me another two seconds to realize it was Charmian Carr - so I told her I'd put out Evening Primrose and she'd been told that I had by a mutual friend and we just hit it off incredibly well and I spoke to her most of the evening. Luckily and happily I had a CD in the car, which she was thrilled to get. It turns out she doesn't have a video of the show, so I'll be dubbing her a DVD off of mine pretty good copy. What a great gal, and still incredibly beautiful. I suspect there's a dinner in our future.
-
Good Evening!
What a great day this turned out to be! :)
-And because it was so wonderful, I've decided not to spoil it by packing the rest of my luggage right now. I'll have plenty of time tomorrow before or after our closing matinée.

JMK - Will there be monitors or TV's in the pits for communication between the people?
Well, another MD who's done a lot of shows there since the remodel told me that that's what he's done, but it sounded like he paid for that himself. There's no way I'm going to pay for video monitors due to this idiotic design.
A tiered pit? Is it at least in front of the stage? How wide and deep is it? -I'm just trying to picture what kind of tiered set-up would prevent people from seeing each other? -Heck, it almost sounds like a lot of Broadway pits today. Do you have a seventh floor dressing room available for your two keyboard players and percussion? ;)
-
DR FJL - I'm trying to remember who sang the them for "Angie". Wasn't it "somebody"?
*And on a related note... Ooohhh.. Robert Hays... Aaahhh... ;D
-
And what is Robert Hays up to nowadays anyway?

And if any DRs happen to find themselves in Charleston, SC, I truly do highly recommend dining at FIG (http://www.eatatfig.com) (Food Is Good). Not only is the food good, but the people are too. In fact, the kitchen staff even stayed on a little longer tonight to accommodate me, my director and her husband. Due to a bunch of last minute walk-ups, we ended up holding the curtain for 10 minutes. And then after the show, there was another "hold" due to all the friends and family in the audience tonight, so we dropped into FIG a little later than I thought would be comfortable. But Samantha, Michael and Cacky really took care of us. And even though the kitchen was supposed to close at 11:15, they were more than happy to make sure that we at least got our dessert orders in before they started packing up for the evening. -Which didn't happen until around 11:30, and two of the desserts were baked to order.
-
...And as we were about to walk out, a couple walked by, "We enjoyed the show!". -They had come in for a post-show drink too. The husband was very complimentary, and said, "You guys saved the best for last. Because of this show, I've decided to subscribe to next season." -Which brought a great smile to my director's face since she's also the Associate Artistic Director of the company. :)
-
And as much as I'd like to get us to Page 8, I really do need to get some sleep. Tomorrow is going to be quite the day. I'm pretty sure it's going to get a bit emotional for everyone. -Which is a good thing.
Goodnight.
-
After ArtsWalk this afternoon, my friend Margo, her two older daughters and I went to the local Olive Garden for dinner. I had the "Tour of Italy," which includes "homemade lasagna, lightly breaded chicken parmigiana and creamy fettuccine alfredo." For dessert, I had the lemon cream cake...to die for!
