Last night, we had our last performance of our first weekend of "Romeo & Juliet (http://www.buyolympia.com/events/?details=416)." Both Friday and Saturday night's shows were about 3 hours and five minutes. Last night's show was about 10 minutes longer. We're slowing down...but the audience (all 15 or so of them) seemed to really enjoy it. We now have two night's off and our next performance will be Wednesday. Hoo and Ray!! ;D

Yes, DR Ben, it's right next door. Richard just returned from Morning Prayer and we're about to go to breakfast.

Good morning, all! I am about to head to Toyland for some work on formats, then I have a meeting at 11 with my accountant, whose office is conveniently next door to Toyland.
At 2, I'm having lunch with my friend John Margulis. His wife Judy was a big help in getting Teresa Stratas in touch with the McGlinn family. I'm sure we'll have lots of dish.

That's not a new song, but it was new to me, so I thought I'd share - you can also download it free on her website www.janisian.com
I've been admiring Janis Ian and the salesmanship of her music on her website. Despite the RIAA's warnings that free downloads will be the death of the music industry, Janis has been offering free music from her CD's since day one and continues to do a bang up job on sales of her CDs.

I'm pretty sure that the episode that aired last night of ROYAL PAINS was episode 3. It's a shame that i can't watch the full episodes on USA network's website. But i can't seem to click on them to see the full link (not that i even know if they would work)!

Count me as one of the GOONIE razzers. I couldn't stand the kids in the film when I first saw it, and I bought a used DVD for about $3 several years ago to rewatch it to see if my opinion had changed. It hadn't: I couldn't stand most of it.

On the other hand, I really loved THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR. It did not get universally good reviews when it came out, but I always loved it, and found the suspense delicious.

Time Capsule is fine and has gone green. The first thing I'd done when it was blinking amber was go into system preferences and network, where it showed that it was green and working despite the blinking yellow light on the unit itself. This morning I called Apple and he took me one step further, to the Airport Utility screen, where the unit was amber. The reason? Firmware update. Firmware updates for the unit don't show up when the rest of the updates do, so unless you go into the Airport Utility you'd never know. So, we did the update, and all is well and well is all.
-
I'm up. Workers are fairly quiet now, but were just loud enough at seven to wake anyone in a half-mile radius.
-
I'll probably do the long jog, then call the dentist. Show Girl will be here tomorrow and ship right out.
-
bk - If your Time Capsule/Airport is flashing Yellow, you just need to open up the Airport/Time Capsule Utility, and it will tell you what the problem is.
Applications -> Utilities -> Airport Utility
Have you downloaded that latest updates? Sometimes that will cause a blinking yellow.
And if you search the Help Forum on Apple.com, you'll also find that it could be due to some sort of network interference, which I know you've dealt with in the past.

My new neigbor will have workers there all week. I don't think it will be too noisy, though. My guess is he's gutting the kitchen over there and probably ripping out carpeting. He's using the same plumber who messed up my house, but I'm not saying anything because they may be friends.
He definitely lives alone now that his daughter has graduated from college and moved to Boulder, CO. He told a very touching story about the new car he bought for her. So, my little corner of the world now has a single guy in his 30s, a single guy in his 40s and me :D

I'm hoping so, too, and they have moved much more quickly than either I or my neighbors thought they would. I'm thinking the exterior of the house could be done by maybe end of July, which means it shouldn't be too loud as they do the interior.

Believe it or not, I did - and came up with nada. At least now I know if it happens again to go directly to Airport Utility. I might have even done so had it not been showing up green in the Network screen.

DR JOSE thanks for the Gale NYT link. Sweet. Her book is a quick and interesting read.
A couple of things I remember - she was working in Chicago with Producer Randy Wood on her records - and she said she had never been closer to a man than she was with Randy except for her husband Lee. She said that she then understood how it happened that people in show business got caught up in relationships, and she quit recording to save her marriage.
She also said when she was going through her worst alcoholic phase, she would hide bottles of whiskey around the house in case she needed. After she was in recovery and she and her family were moving, the moving men kept finding whiskey bottles she had forgotten about....and she was quite embarrassed.
-
DR LAURA did you find your scanner on your IMAC?
-
DR Michael S - As for burning CDs on your new MacBook Pro, as long as you're using iTunes, it should still be the same process you used on your PC. Just create a Playlist, then select "Burn CD". Very easy. -Almost too easy, actually.
As for burning DVDs, just open iDVD and check the menu options. It does take a while to copy a DVD to your hard drive, and then another "while" to burn a copy. However, if you are just transferring clips that are already on your hard drive, just place a blank DVD-R in your hard drive, select the files you want to transfer, then just drag them to the Blank DVD-R icon in the Finder window.

Maybe age has something to do with enjoying the GOONIES from the time of one's first exposure to it. I just disliked those kids immensely. The production had some size and scope, but the kids were so off-putting to me that I could never warm up to it.
-
DR LAURA did you find your scanner on your IMAC?
I was about to ask the same thing.
Are you sure you scanner is Mac compatible? -I forget if you were previously on a PC. In any case...
I know with the way my scanner is set up, it only really appears when I start to use it. That is, when I hit the "Scan" button on my scanner. When I hit "Scan", the scanner program automatically starts on my computer.
Since it should be "Plug and Play", one way you could "find" the scanner is to unplug the USB cord that connects the scanner to your computer, then plug it back in. Sometimes - alas, sometimes - that will bring up the "new hardware" connected window.
Did you install the scanner's software on your computer?
-
Now I must head downstairs to get cleaned up for lunch out with best friend John. He's been at the beach for a week, so I'm sure he'll have some stories to tell.

Since the weather folk are calling for rain Wednesday and Thursday, and Ginny, Richard, Jose and Larry are holding both those days for Central Park Shakespeare possibilities -
What does that mean in terms of pre-theatre dinner here Wed or Thurs, or should we assume a "rain check" on an HHW get-together this time around?

What does that mean in terms of pre-theatre dinner here Wed or Thurs, or should we assume a "rain check" on an HHW get-together this time around?
Could we plan on an early dinner on Thursday? Say, 5:00, 5:30?
Since we're "counting" on the Virtual Line for Wednesday night's tickets, if any of us end up winning, then we'd have to be in line at The Delacorte between 6:00 and 7:30 to pick up the tickets. So...
However, since Thursday night looks to be a definite since we'll be waiting in line during the day, a good dinner and visit between the wait and the show would be a good thing. We could all just taxi up to the Park at 7:30 from Chez Skip and Fred.

To me, the kids in THE GOONIES were the ultimate of what I think of as Spielberg Kids--kids who are acting some 30 year old guy's idea of how kids act. A lot of screaming out lines, trash talk, obnoxious laughter. And all done in beats. This wsa used to fine effect in movies like CLOSE ENCOUNTERS where the kids weren't the focus or in E.T. and POLTERGEIST where it's subdued. But in GOONIES, HOOK and any episode of AMAZING STORIES that featured kids, it's there and over the top.

I'm getting a new roof, starting today! The workers are on the roof right now ripping off all the old cedar shingles. So far, it's not too loud, and I'll be leaving for work soon. I think it's supposed to take several days to complete the whole thing...there are four units and a garage as part of my building. The other thing is that I'm going to get a new skylight in the process! I've given the information of what I want to our property manager and she gave the information to the roofers and they're supposed to have gotten the new skylight and will install it and bill me. I like him in "The Great Gatsby", and love "Out of Africa" but don't think he's particularly cast well in it. His "presence" is perfect, but his Americanized portrayal of a British gentleman is not, and it's that one thing that keeps the movie from being absolutely perfect.

Busy little morning. Fixed the Apple problem, did the long jog, and rewrote the music for the "A" sections of the Doing Porn number. As you may recall, I realized in the reading that all the descending musical lines, one right after another, were sucking the energy out of the music and making the lyric impossible to spit out with clarity. I tried a band-aid for it for the second reading, but hated it - today I completely rewrote it and I think it's much better and certainly easier to sing and have the lyric be heard.
-
Ok, back to work, didn't realize I left this page up when I went to lunch.. I went home. There are plumbers, electricians and cable guys at my neighbors house. I guess he really wants to get in there quickly, lol

I met my new neighbor this morning :)
:D
-
I began by watching the first of two new LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT episodes that ran last night.
The first guest starred Eric Balfor as a celebrated TV chef whose girl friend is murdered. This was a case with Jeff Goldblum as the lead detective, and it had a very easy solution.
-
Page Five Dance!!!
-
Next I sped through todays THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Kind of funny: Adam having sex with Rafe (off camera naturally) and after he leaves having to take a shower and have his girl friend come over to have sex with him. I was laughing a lot.
-
I sped through today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE, too, since I knew Kyle was going to be on, and I wanted to get to know the character a bit before that gay storyline starts up.
Many of the same actors are still around from when I watched the show several years ago when Matt Cavanaugh played a gay character for six months or so.
I was surprised how much the actress playing Starr had grown up since I last watched the show. (The character is still a major brat like she always was).
-
I also had time to watch the second LAW & ORDER: CI episode from last night, this one with Vincent D'Nofrio as lead detective. Raul Esparza was the primary guest star in this one, and again, the big "surprise" was no surprise: the cameraman showed a bit too much nose and too much of the hands for it to take anyone observant by surprise.
However, Raul was very good playing this split personality. I enjoyed his performance.

I admire her for doing what was necessary to save her marriage.
Funny story about the alcohol. Gotta give her credit for controlling her addiction. I greatly admire anyone who can do that.

Well, with my worksite still being switched over to the new server/software, my afternoon surf lasted a decidedly shorter amount of time than usual. Guess I can go downstairs and tick off a few more items off my DVR list that are still sitting there waiting to be watched.
WBBL.

Does anyone here do Second Life (http://www.secondlife.com)?
I don't. I can barely keep up with HHW and Facebook.
-
There is a beautiful little bird trying to get into our house. We need help identifying it. I'll post a photo or two in a moment.
-
We are back from a fun day downtown, which I could not have navigated without having taken DR Jose's 2005 HHW walking tour. We took the F-train from Rockefeller Center and made our way to
St. Augustine's Church (http://www.staugnyc.org)
which we'd read about in the NY Times.
After looking around for a while and sitting on the steps watching the news-hound choppers hovering over the courthouse where the Madoff sentencing was taking place, we began our crosstown walk through Chinatown, Little Italy, and SoHo. We stopped for a lovely lunch at Novella in LI, where I had a spinazi & mozzarella frittata (spinach & cheese omelet). That was followed by dessert at Ferrara pasticceria, where we shared a gelato trio (strawberry, chocolate, and pine nut). We stopped in several SoHo shops, making our way to our destination - Deco Jewels on Thompson St. I'd read about DJ in Country Living magazine and took some of my mom's and my "vintage" pieces to see if they were saleable. The owner, Janice (who makes the decisions) wasn't there, but her friend Evan was very nice and fun to talk to. I'll call Janice tomorrow to see if she thinks a return trip would be worth her time and mine.
After a short wait, we caught a 6th Ave. bus back to midtown.

Jose - Thursday at 5 sounds like a good possibility. Is the curtain at Delacorte at 8?
DR FJL - I was going to respond to the earlier conversations that I'd defer to Jose's insights. Based on those, this sounds workable for us. If we see Twelfth Night on Wednesday evening, Richard and I will want to see something here in Times Square on Thursday, and being at your house at 5 would enable us to do that, too. We're looking forward to seeing you!
-
Well, Ginny. Although I would rather see you and Richard, I'm glad I canceled tomorrow. It's become a very, very busy day. At 1pm I got out of an unscheduled 2 hour meeting and I have another meeting at 3. I have a rehearsal tomorrow morning for the WEDNESDAY presentation and then I have the TUESDAY presentation at 2pm! I can't wait until Thursday
DR Ben, you will definitely deserve a weekend off! We may stop in at the Center tomorrow to try to exchange my water-logged publication and do some exploring in the Union Square area.
-
...So, my little corner of the world now has a single guy in his 30s, a single guy in his 40s and me :D
That sounds very promising!
-
Here it is. We have been searching through our bird books & online & can't find an exact match.
-
It really looks like some kind of Warbler.
-
A yellow-rumped warbler? When it flies away from you, do you see a yellow spot like a pat of butter?
-
DR Jane - I think the bird looks like a nuthatch.
-
Yes, surprisingly, the dentist is Dr. Chew. Soonest I could get in there is two weeks, on the 15th.
-
I went to Jerry's deli and had something I've never had there - or anywhere else for that matter - a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich, which, I must tell you, was faboo.
-
All packages have been addresses and are now having postage affixed to them. They will ship first thing tomorrow morning.
-
Yes, surprisingly, the dentist is Dr. Chew. Soonest I could get in there is two weeks, on the 15th.
There's a dentist in Cincinnati who sponsors public radio programming - his name is Dr. Lipps.
-
A yellow-rumped warbler? When it flies away from you, do you see a yellow spot like a pat of butter?
It is amazing, I can now stand right at the window & it will fly back & sit on the edge in front of me. I was finally able to see a yellow pat as it flew away. Every photo of a yellow-rumped warbler we looked at had white at the throat instead of yellow. I've searched some more & found photos with yellow. This could be it.
-
They are really common out here in the winter. You might have been looking at the "Myrtle" race in the pictures. This one looks like the "Audubon's" race.
-
Disclaimer: Your area is waaaay out of my habitat. So I could certainly be wrong.
-
To be precise, we have a Yellow-rumped (Audubon's) Warbler. Audubon specifies it as a Western Yellow-rumped Warbler vs the Eastern Myrtle Warbler.
This photo from the internet giving us a match. I wish we had found it sooner. Thanks DR Laura.
And Thank you DR Ginny for your suggestion.
-
Sometimes we call them "butter-butts."
-
You took a good picture, Jane.
-
http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1913584
Cute :)
-
Sometimes we call them "butter-butts."
I'll have to look that up. I didn't see your post explaining the name differences before I posted.
-
My new neigbor will have workers there all week.
Can I have the one you throw back?
-
You took a good picture, Jane.
Thank you. It wasn't easy photographing a bird through a window that didn't hold still for long. ;D The one from the internet shows how beautiful they are.
-
D Cilla has the plumber already begun working on the neighbor's house? If not I would make sure they aren't friends before keeping quiet.
-
DR TCB - I'd want you at my Pride March.
;D
-
Hoping for no rain. I'm supposed to be going on one of the Circle Line boat rides this evening.
-
...round and round and round in the circle game...
-
Perhaps Cillaliz will bake some cookies this afternoon and meet the new neighbor.
-
***SOON IT ISN'T GONNA RAIN VIBES***
for DR FJL!!!!

LOL! well, I'm not doing anything with the 30 something. he's a really nice guy, but has had a series of girlfriends and we really don't have anything in common except being neighbors. He's currently involved with a woman with three kids. As he said " I just have no ability to commit to anyone"
He's a cutie though, reminds me of Mbarnum
-
D Cilla has the plumber already begun working on the neighbor's house? If not I would make sure they aren't friends before keeping quiet.
Yeah, they were there this morning. It was the way he said the name and that they'd be there that made me think they were friends or close. There are people who like this plumber. I got the son-in-law who was very hung over and mad he had to work that day.
-
Perhaps Cillaliz will bake some cookies this afternoon and meet the new neighbor.
I met him this morning.... He's over there now..when I look out my living room his house is what I see. When he looks out his kitchen window he sees my house. I really doubt this will be a dating situation. I can't imagine what it would be like to be living that close to someone if it all went bad. I'm hoping for a good friend
-
FJL, today my dad thanked me for the link to your parody. He said it made his day and mom said he'd been humming it all morning. You're a hit with the octogenarians!
-
Cillaliz, I have (or had) the video of Guv. It was hilarious.
-
T.O.D.
BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID
THE WAY WE WERE
THE NATURAL
THE STING
Back in the early Seventies, several of my gay friends and I used to have DOWNHILL RACER parties everytime the movie was on TV. I don't think any of us really cared that much about the movie, except for the one scene where Redford comes out wearing nothing but a very tight towel. There probably wasn't that much to see at the time, but we all loved that scene.
-
I worked for the court reporter on his criminal trial. The lawyer would ask a question, Ev would ramble (never finishing a sentence) for two or three pages without ever answering the question.
-
Cillaliz, I have (or had) the video of Guv. It was hilarious.
I had the t-shirt that said "The Evan Mecham I Told You So World Tour" I took my parents to see it when they were visiting me one year. We laughed and laughed and laughed. I think I may have seen it again when it was updated as the news just got stranger
-
I would love a copy of that video.
-
You couldn't have made that stuff up, Cillaliz.
-
Benson does hurt!

-
I'll see if I still have it. I may have given it to DR Kerry.
-
Holy Moly on Rye!! The GUV video is listed for $149 on eBay
-
Cilla - I always was partial to the eighties!
-
Favorite Robert Redford movie:
WAR HUNT
I have been wondering all day which movie Mikey would pick!
-
Thanks for sending it to them, Cilla
-
And a Very Happy Birthday to the composer of several Kritzerland releases, Bernard Herrmann (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002136/). If he were still alive, he'd be 98 years old. :)
So would elmore!
-
Wow!
-

Then he should be ok.
-
Cillaliz, I have (or had) the video of Guv. It was hilarious.
It was quite an experience living out there during that time, no one back home believed me
-
He offended you.
-
I worked for the court reporter on his criminal trial. The lawyer would ask a question, Ev would ramble (never finishing a sentence) for two or three pages without ever answering the question.
I remember gathering around and listening to the impeachment trials on the radio at the office. I don't remember the criminal trial so muhc. Do you remember who the judge was?
-
Ryan?
-
But then, if you were black, Jewish, working female, gay, etc., he offended you.
-
Thanks for sending it to them, Cilla
MY pleasure. My dad used to write parodies of things, I knew he'd like it. I'll have to send him more of your parodies
-
Off to the pier. Luckily, it's only four blocks away. Two of them are long blocks, but still -
-
In fact, "Willard did it" is probably the only quote that wouldn't offend someone.
-
Were you married at the time? If so, he offended you.
I think I got married shortly after he was impeached. I found him quite funny. I never took him seriously enough to be offended
-
Ryan?
That's what I was thinking. I was assigned to his court room for awhile
-
I went to Jerry's deli and had something I've never had there - or anywhere else for that matter - a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich, which, I must tell you, was faboo.
Gee, that sounds kosher.
-
But after Evan there was Rose Mofford who resembled a cross between Miss Kitty and Tammy Fay Baker
-
DR Michael S - As for burning CDs on your new MacBook Pro, as long as you're using iTunes, it should still be the same process you used on your PC.
Thank you. Now I just have to "migrate" all my music from my PC to MAC
Don't you just love all the techno babble that just means coy!
-
She was never quite the same after she fell off the stage and hit her head
-
Then we had Fife.

I'll be right over.

Then we had Fife.
Yeah, he had his own scandal right? An indictment or something. I was gone by the time he got in trouble.
I was there for Charlie Keating. His Citizens for Decency Laws filed a brief in one of my cases

DR Elmoore
Was that email for Ms. Peters still good?
-
From Wikipedia:
During his first term, Symington was the subject of an investigation over his involvement with Southwest Savings and Loan, a failed Phoenix thrift. He was later cleared, and won reelection handily in 1994.
Later, he was indicted on charges of extortion and making false financial statements, and of bank fraud. He was convicted of bank fraud in 1997. The Arizona state constitution does not allow convicted felons to hold office, so Symington was forced to resign.
-
I remember that he filed a personal bankruptcy, but verbally gave his wife all of the art and other valuable items.
I never understood that. I thought property was jointly held by married couples.

That's right. I knew it was something related to a savings and loan

Michael Jackson didn't have a valid will. Good grief, with all the laywers he had you'd think one of them would have gotten a valid will prepared
-
Time to medicate the cat
-
Wow, Fred's parody has had 1400 hits already. Not exactly Susan Boyle numbers, but pretty good in 24 hours.
-
I just read through WalletPop's list of 57 different retail chains that are closing some or all of their stores. It is a pretty scary world we are living in at the moment.
-
Time to medicate the cat
Yep! That's what I say when I run to the potty, too.

;D

Keith found a pretty video of a Yellow-rumped Audubon Warbler. (http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Yellow-rumped_Warbler/videos) Click on the video titled "male on a branch".

My sister was dating a lawyer when she died and she didn't have a will. I suppose she felt if she made one she would have to admit she was dying, still.......

DR Elmoore
Was that email for Ms. Peters still good?
I don't know. I just passed it on.

Copenhagen.
-
We were walking along when multiple, serious looking black cars, drove up alongside of us & stopped. We knew someone important was there. First the security team hopped out of their cars & then the officials. Loads of people in suits-lol- & a number of reporters. Best of all was the UN Secretary General who was taking a boat trip out to see the windmills for his research on alternative energy. I was standing next to a security guard. We hung around until we received the ok to continue our walk towards the Little Mermaid.
-
The Little Mermaid, which is very little.
-
The harbor area in Copenhagen is lovely. Aside from the great soft ice cream cone in Tivoli Gardens my favorite time there was the walk along the harbor & our boat ride on the canal.
-
I shall now be on my way to NoHo for a salad and then the reading.
-
Beautiful photos, Jane. What a great trip!
-
Thank you DR Laura, and again for solving our bird quandary.
-
I reinstalled the scanner cd. I know I already installed it once.
DR Laura - Have you already tried scanning something? Do you know what the name of the scanning software is? If so, just look under Applications for the name of the program and double-click. If you have a Canon printer/scanner, "MP Navigator" is the name of the scanning program that comes with most of them. *It does "hide" until you push the "Scan" button on the scanner - then it opens automatically, but you can open it up before scanning too.
-
OH!...
Good Evening!
-
Jane, those were great pictures!
-
I am finally home and my first requirement is a nap. I was up until 1:30 am last night and I am exhausted!
I hope you were able to return to your nap after I called you. Sorry, DR elmore.
-
Does anyone here do Second Life (http://www.secondlife.com)?
I don't, but I have some friends who do. In general, I'm not into SIMS-type games, environments, but I have seen some cool things done in Second Life - especially some of the music concerts. I sense that if I did get into Second Life, I'd probably never leave my apartment.
-

DR FJL - Yes, the curtain at The Delacorte is at 8:00.
DR Ginny - Would it make it easier for you and DH Richard just to go ahead and plan on seeing something else in Times Square Wednesday night? -Then we can all just plan on waiting in the real line on Thursday for that evening's performance. I also realized that if only one of us happens to "win" the Virtual Line on Wednesday, we'd be short the number of tickets for that night. So, maybe a morning and early afternoon spent in The Park waiting for tickets, then a break to freshen up, then dinner at Fred and Skip's, then back to the Delacorte would be the best way to plan for Thursday right now.
N'est-ce pas?
-
You're welcome, Jane.
Jose, I reinstalled it. There is no button on the scanner. It scans when I click on the mouse. I have no idea what happened to it, but it is there now. Thanks.

You're welcome, DR Laura. What kind of scanner do you have? It should have some sort of scan or copy button on it. ???
-
DRs elmore, Ginny and DH Richard - If we all meet in the Park sometime Thursday morning - I'd say around 9:30 (at the latest) - then we can at least establish our place in line. Then if Ginny and Richard want to "shift" out for a bit to do some exploring on the UWS, it would be kosher with the people in line with us. *This way, with four of us in line, we could actually get 8 tickets just in case any other DRs or friends would like to join us that evening for Twelfth Night.
-
DR Jane, what wonderful photos!!! Thank you for sharing your trip with us.

Need to relax now after doing some work today which required a high degree of concentration. Perhaps I will watch this:

I went to Jerry's deli and had something I've never had there - or anywhere else for that matter - a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich, which, I must tell you, was faboo.
When we lived in Connecticut and would go to the beach - I forget which beach - the snack bar there would serve grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon and tomato. Still one of my favorites. And when I was down in Charleston, I did enjoy a grilled pimento cheese with bacon on sourdough once or twice. YUM!

DR DAW - If you start being able to name Bollywood actors on sight... Well... You know!
::)
-
And speaking of Bollywood, here's the NY Times' review of New York (http://movies.nytimes.com/2009/06/27/movies/27saltz.html) which stars DR MBarnum's personal favorite, John Abraham.

Well... Now you know! :)

-
Just stopping by to say hi.
Hi.
Did read all of today's posts ;D
Good to see everyone is cheerful and :)
See ya later, still really out of it. :-[
-
DR Sam - Thanks for stopping by and reading. Be sure to rest and take care of yourself.
-
DR MBarnum's personal favorite, John Abraham.
It just may be possible that DR MBarnum has even more than one favorite. ;D
-
Be sure to rest and take care of yourself.
DITTO!! :)
-
DR DAW - I love the street sign. I may have to Twitter that. ;)
-
Was just watching an old episode of The Carol Burnett Show.
Rock Hudson certainly didn't have a beautiful singing voice, but darn it, he could carry a tune!
-
I may have to Twitter that.
I guess it's a good thing I'm not tweeting myself! ;)
I am more than happy to provide Twodder. [twitter fodder]
-
DR DAW - Would be interested and available in coming into the city Thursday night for a dinner and/or a show?
-
Thanks DRs George & DAW.
DR Sam I’ve been thinking about you, glad you stopped in to say hello. VIBES!
-
I may have to Twitter that.
I guess it's a good thing I'm not tweeting myself! ;)
I am more than happy to provide Twodder. [twitter fodder]
Which blog is that from originally? I just want to make to sure to give the proper credit.
-
It's a Canon.
-
And while I had the cd out, I installed it on the church's new laptop.
-
:-\
Just read some news bulletins:
-A train collision in Italy - Viareggio - which resulted in some major explosions since two of the train cars were fuel tankers.
-A Yemeni Air plane carrying 150 passengers just crashed in Comoros, in the Indian Ocean.
:-\
-
It's a Canon.
OK - And is it the MP Navigator software?
-
Copenhagen.
It said under the photo that it was Secretary General Medium Web View!

If your PC has a FireWire port and you have the proper cable, that will make the migration go much faster. Although, if your whole library is on your iPod, then you can transfer it that way too after your deauthorize your PC's iTunes library.
-
I don't know what that is.
-
Wow, Fred's parody has had 1400 hits already. Not exactly Susan Boyle numbers, but pretty good in 24 hours.
And speaking of Susan Boyle, there was a wonderful analysis of the whole "Susan Boyle Phenomenon" in yesterday's New York Times Magazine:
The Susan Boyle Experience (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/28/magazine/28FOB-medium-t.html)
-
I don't know what that is.
When the scanner program opens up on your computer, what is the name of the program?
Or were you talking about your spaghetti dinner again?
-
DR Jane - It looks like you and Keith had a wonderful, wonderful time in wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen.
-
DR MBarnum's personal favorite, John Abraham.
It just may be possible that DR MBarnum has even more than one favorite. ;D
In his dreams, DR DAW. In his dreams.

Next I sped through todays THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Kind of funny: Adam having sex with Rafe (off camera naturally) and after he leaves having to take a shower and have his girl friend come over to have sex with him. I was laughing a lot.
At first, I couldn't tell if they had had sex, but when I saw that Rafe appeared to be getting dressed, and that his tie was askew, well... -I did miss the first 30 seconds or so, did they show them kiss? -And then when the follow-up phone call from Rafe happened later in the hour, and he confessed that he had been feeling the same thing too... Um, if they had just had sex, didn't that mean he had been feeling the same thing already? ::)
There was no kiss. Just them getting dressed after "sex".
I'm curious what you two think of this. Does it interest you because Y&R is finally showing a gay character and most likely a gay storyline. Or does it annoy the heck out of you that a heterosexual man (adam) would have sex with a gay man (rafe) just so he wouldn't get caught by him!
It's sort of crazy to think that adam could/or would even do this. But why did he booty call heather right after? To assert his manliness or to get the taste of rafe off him? I was definitely shocked (i was expecting a kiss but not sex).
-
Great pics DR jane!
-
Um, Canoscan Lide 60 Scangear CS Photostudio
-
DR Jose, horrible news.
For much of our time in Copenhagen we walked around tired & groggy & cold. I wish we had stayed at the harbor area. We didn't get there until the second day. I'm glad we had the 3rd day to enjoy a canal tour before getting on the ship.
-
I have no idea why I couldn't find it before. Maybe it got uninstalled somehow. But it's there now.
On my laptop, I would just plug it in when I wanted to use it. I just left it plugged in on the desktop, so I didn't know how to find it.

It just interests me since it seems that all the plots lines on "Y&R" right now seem to be in Wacked Out Mode.
And, I'm still not sure if they had had sex (off camera) - maybe it was just a session of making out and heavy petting. ;)
And as for the post-possible-coital heterosexual encounter... I just can't believe that she is so blind - figuratively ;) - right now.
In any case, Adam is a nut case. Maybe him and Mary Jane will end up getting together later.

I would love to, but I can't be away from home that long... I'm caring for Zach on my own this week.

Copenhagen.
It said under the photo that it was Secretary General Medium Web View!
Good thing I explained who he was ;)

Yes, but which story are we to believe?

G'night!

It looks as though our monsoon will be coming on schedule. I wasn't sure what would happen with all the mild temperatures in June.

Thank You. Hmm.. I read that blog too, surprised I missed it.

You can see the strain & fatigue on the final competition. I really don't know why she lost.

Thanks Jennifer.

Don't you have a cute neighbor across the street like DRs Cillaliz and MBarnum who could take Zach out for this ablutions?
-
Nope. :(

That sounds like a great plan, DR Jose! Richard and I have moved Avenue Q onto our list, so might try for that for Wednesday night.

Nope, no kiss shown. And you can have sex without the "feelings" I think he was referring to.

Was just watching an old episode of The Carol Burnett Show.
Rock Hudson certainly didn't have a beautiful singing voice, but darn it, he could carry a tune!
Yes, he could barely carry a tune. He did at least two stage musicals that I know about: CAMELOT and I DO! I DO! and he certainly would have had to sing in the latter.

We can zip up there as soon as Richard is finished with Morning Prayer at St. Mary's. He was back here before 9 this morning, so we could get a taxi and be there within your suggested time frame. We'd been wondering when we were going to get to the UWS (specifically Artie's).

I think the shower was the telling moment: he felt unclean after he did it. Of course, Adam has been to prison, and he was likely subjected to same sex situations there, so it might not be as big a leap as you're thinking.
I think also he needed to reaffirm in his own mind that he could still perform with a woman.
I think what made the sex scene so confusing was that the bed wasn't mussed at all. I guess they made the bed before they put their clothes back on. Or they did the deed somewhere other than the bed.

*Alas, the weather forecast is not looking so good right now, but... The sun is supposed to start reappearing Thursday, so, at least we got that going for us.

I had a different and kind of unusual evening of viewing, most of which I had planned to doing.
I began by watching the two bonus featurettes on the SEARCHERS Blu-ray which I had never watched.
The first had Martin Scorsese, Curtis Hanson, and the screenwriter talking about the aspects of the film that make it so unique. Really enjoyed their comments on the film.
-
As you've probably figured out, we're back from IN THE HEIGHTS, for which we had great seats and enjoyed immensely. I was glad we'd watched the PBS special and listened to the CD beforehand. I was also pleased to see Justina Machado as Daniela - she was one of my favs on Six Feet Under.
-

Well, don't all gay men like to keep a made bed?
::)
Then again, maybe one of them had to lean against the bedroom door in order to keep someone from coming in since Adam is no longer allowed to lock his bedroom door. :-x -And, funny how no one walked in while he was Rafe or Heather.
:-X
-
The second was written and produced by bk pal Nick Redman, and it was nicely done, a documentary on the film pieced together with interviews with surviving cast and crew and home movies and outtakes as backdrop to the audio track. Unique and quite wonderful.

Good thing you aren't here now to see the unmade bed in my bedroom.

After I finished those, I plucked CAMELOT (1967) off the shelf and watched about five of the musical numbers in the movie.
Oh, boy, is THIS movie going to be in need of some serious work before it'll be ready for any kind of Blu-ray transfer. Or has it always been so alternately soft and sharp? I thought a lot of the songs I watched looked rather terrible.
-
When I finished with it, I took BROADWAY: The American Musical off the shelf and watched EPisode 1, the one about Ziegfeld, George M. Cohan, Fanny Brice, Bert Williams, Irving Berlin, and ending with SHOW BOAT.

And I ended my evening with THE CLOSER, a very interesting and affecting gay-themed story tonight. I LOVED the actor who played the young boy friend. He did a superb job in the interview scene.
Ordinarily, I delete the show after I've watched it, but I will rewatch parts of this again tomorrow after work gets finished. It was very emotionally satisfying.

Sometimes we call them "butter-butts."
That's what they called me in grade school!
-
Cillaliz, I have (or had) the video of Guv. It was hilarious.
You loaned it to me, and I need to return it to you!

Keith found a pretty video of a Yellow-rumped Audubon Warbler. (http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Yellow-rumped_Warbler/videos) Click on the video titled "male on a branch".
I think Michael Barnum has that movie!

One last thing, DR Jose - thanks for your phone message!
'night!
-
I'm heading downstairs now and going to my (unmade) bed.
Good night!

You're welcome, Ginny. Sleep well.

It was lovely weather for riding in a boat around part of Manhattan. It was a benefit ride/dinner/concert for a group called the Prospect Group
-
So does that mean we're on for an HHW-mini-get-together here on thursday at 5?
-
Or did Jose's mysterious phone message have something to do with that? :)
-

Yes.

Nothing mysterious about the phone message. I just basically left DR Ginny the same "message" I posted here earlier on HHW. Just wanted to make it easier for her post-show HHW catching up.

Maybe "Adam" and "Rafe" need to read this article from the NY Times:
I Love You, Man (as a Friend)
"Relationships between gay and straight men aren’t always easy, but stereotypes are falling."
*It's actually a nice article.

Was the dinner served on the boat? or was it done land-side beforehand?

Michael Jackson didn't have a valid will. Good grief, with all the lawyers he had you'd think one of them would have gotten a valid will prepared
My sister was dating a lawyer when she died and she didn't have a will. I suppose she felt if she made one she would have to admit she was dying, still.......
Yeah, I don't have one either..I know I should, but...
-
Jose - Yes, it was on the boat, buffet style, but very tasty. There were actually assigned tables, which surprised me.
-
I"m trying something completely different in my kitchen. I couldn't visualize what it may look like with all the yellow so I painted all of the top tonight and a portion of the bottom to get an ideao f what it will look like. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I need a slightly different color on the bottom. I think with that minor adjustment and the new countertops I'll like it. Not sure though. I'm going to have to live with it for a few days

Back from the staged reading, which was very long. I did see lots of interesting folks, so that was nice.
