Well, you've read the notes, the notes were called Josephine, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - the cows are called Napoleon.

And the word of the day is: BIBELOT!

And a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to occasional dear readers Joy and Sigerson Holmes.

And now - Dino at the piano.

Happy Birthday to DR MattH on this September 3rd, 2009!

TOD: I cannot have chocolate cake or lemon pie in the house. I will, on virtually every occasion that one of them has been in the kitchen, arise from my bed in the early hours and sneak a piece of either. I will be unapologetic about it, too. Those are my favorite late-night snacks.
Next to them are Klondike Bars. Oooooh....what would I do for a Klondike Bar!!
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR Matt H.!! ;D

I actually had a piece of Pepperidge Farm chocolate fudge cake (with chocolate confetti on top) just about a half hour ago. :D I bought it on a whim last week and I still have two pieces left...I cut it into six pieces. Here's a picture:

I think that this was the very first time that I'd had a Pepperidge Farm cake. I also bought a coconut cake at the same time:

This did not last as long as the chocolate fudge cake has. ;) It was VERY good!

They were on sale. :)

Very Happy Birthday Wishes to both Joy and Sigerson Holmes!

And now, I must get to sleep.
Good night, Ron (and guests).

Good morning, all! I'm off to Toyland shortly, and I will be gone most of the day. I want to finish up the band parts for Brent's album, fax some music to BK, deliver the finished product and move on to other projects.
Last night, because of all the clutter, I lost the last chart for the album I was working on. I looked everywhere for it, and after I finished doing all of the initial work, the missing shopping bag turned up. It had fallen off my bed between the nattress and the footboard. So, I didn't finish it last night as I had planned, and that's another four hours out of my life today and two hours from last night I'll never regain. Oy

Like bk, I love, love, love breakfast at night (that's three loves!). In fact, I love breakfast-type foods at any time of day or night.
-
DR elmore3003 - glad you found the missing charts.
Thank you, DR singdaw! Lotta good it did me, but it's nice to know I didn't leave them in a taxi or the hallway.

I will next post from Toyland. I wish everyone a good day!

Good morning!
How it breaks my heart for us to lose this cool, fall weather. It's going into the 80s today for the first time this week, and it'll be closer to 90 my the end of the weekend. Bah!
-
Many thanks to DRs Ron, George, Ben, Laura, Michael Shayne, Elmore, Arnold, td, FJL, DAW, and, of course, bk, for the wonderful birthday wishes. They are much appreciated.
-
I do plan to make myself something sweet today. I haven't decided if it's to be frosted brownies or a chocolate bundt cake, but I'll make myself something delicious and sinfully unhealthy.
-
My work project today will be the Blu-ray of THE GIRL NEXT DOOR, a RISKY BUSINESS-style comedy with Emile Hirsch and Elisha Cuthbert.
-
Sony released a software upgrade for the PS3 the other day, so I spent this morning downloading it into the machine. When I go down later to watch aother episode or two of LIE TO ME, I'll see what notable changes in the interface I can discern. Supposedly, some of the menus have been reorganized.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR MATT!!!!
-
Happy Birthday DR JOY!!
Happy Birthday Sigerson Holmes!!
-
Steve died peacefully in his sleep about 4:30 this morning. I've got depositions this afternoon on an upcoming trial, so I will keep the same plan and go up tomorrow.
-
Thank you, DR Cillaliz.
And I'm so sorry about your sad news.
-
I'm going to head downstairs now and bake something! Then I'll watch a couple more episodes of LIE TO ME (I think there are three left).

**********HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DEAR MATTH**********
-
Happy Birthday DR MattH!!!!! Hope your day is pain free!
I also watched the CBS Fall tv preview special. And was also glad to see them spend so much time on MEDIUM. Did you see the oldest daughter chopped off all her hair.
The one thing i did think that seemed appealing with some of the shows were the co-stars. The Jenna Elfman show has the wonderful woman from UGLY BETTY. And THE GOOD WIFE has Christine Baranski and Mr. Big.
I am torn on the latter. I like the 2 co-stars but am not crazy about julianna margulies. And it seems like she will be on every minute.
As for THREE RIVERS, what i saw did not really appeal to me.
-
Off to another smoky and hot day. Blah.
-
DR Jose re: the spambot facebook person.
Well who knows. I"m not gonna accept someone i don't know. But he was a 60+ year old man with a picture of a little grandkid. Maybe he is using her to lure in the friends! ;)
-
Dear Cillaliz, Many condolences to you and Steve's family.
-
DR Jose re: the GLEE article you posted.
I love what FOX did, putting the show after the finale of AMERICAN IDOL in may. And now putting it again after the SYTYCD special. IT is a good show. And they are creating great hype. There are already a lot of people who want to see it.
-
Dear MattH, enjoy your day and something sinfully unhealthy. ;D
-
DR Cillaliz, my condolences to you, along with Steve's wife and family.
-
DR Jose thanks for posting the fall tv preview article. I'm reading it now.

DR Cillaliz i just caught up on page 2. I'm so sorry.

TOD:
My favorite late night snack used to be a bag of chips, either potato or Fritos or Doritos. But since I don't eat that kind of stuff anymore, I now settle for a small piece of cake or slice of pie.

In honor of today's title, I did some research on the phrase, "Not tonight, Josephine." I had heard reference to it, but never knew what it meant.
Well, now I do. :-[

Thanks DR DAW. Yes tonight is our opening night. We shall see what we shall see.
It is most distressing that a huge WII apparatus has been set up in our green room so that those people who have smaller parts and do not know their lines or blocking have another excuse to miss their entrances.....shocking! I can't sit in their now during the show. It's too distracting. I like to be in a quiet place before I go on, so I guess I will sit in the shop....

I asked the stage manager to hang the drapery cord in a certain way since I only have a short time to pretend to cut it down and loop it correctly before I tie up Mortimer.
She in her usual kind manner and with high school stage managing experience - and who plans to major in theatre stage management - told me "Do it yourself."
I also mentioned that "wine" that is not drunk from glasses should be thrown away NOT put back into the decanter and in fact ALL liquids should be fresh every night. She told me it was too much trouble.

I like ice cream late at night.
But I also like Chex Mix or a nice Chicken Salad sandwich.
Leftover pizza is also nice.

I'm sorry to hear about Steve, Cillaliz. I am glad he had a peaceful passing. Now the prayers go to Gretchen and the family for their recovery.
-
I have a Wii question - can you go figure skating?
-
Thanks all for the condolences. I have talked about this group to Gretchen many times, I will pass on the condolences to her and her family. I may even try to talk her into joining us in the future. It's sad, but a relief at the same time. He had a lot of trouble with the chemo and had a rough year. He's in a better place and she and the family can grieve and move on.
-
I have a Wii question - can you go figure skating?
Yes. There is a game by Decca Sports for the Wii. I haven't played it or seen it, but it came up on a Google search for Wii figure skating
-
Cason has come and gone, I'm showered and coifed and will shortly be on my way to a very long casting day - I know several of the actors coming in today, so that will be fun.

Back to work. Thanks again for the support.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MATTH AND OUR OTHER BIRTHDAY CELEBRATORS.

There was a nice little photo in this morning's Oregonian of a person with elegant hair, lots of lipstick and a nice string of pearls, underneath which the caption read:
DAW
Forced out in August
-
I did get one private reply off of CASTRECL yesterday about my vague (and evidently misplaced, Larry-wise) memory of a post about XXX XXX XX XXX. Evidently, there was indeed a rotating stage, which had been malfunctioning. The leading lady had a gigantic monologue somewhere in the show and as the stage lurched around, she evidently went completely up, looked panicked for a moment and then blurted, "Never mind, I"ll tell you about it later." As far as the theater party lady not getting the name of the show right, I'm still waiting to hear about that. :)

Happy birthday Matt!
I was sure that the most common favorite late night snack was going to be popcorn, but I don't think a single person mentioned popcorn. I mean, isn't that the favorite movie snack, and isn't watching a movie the favorite late-night activity? I also expected at least one person to vote for cold leftover pizza, but I don't think I saw that either. I don't mind cold pizza, but ever since microwave ovens were invented, I prefer it warmed up. Years ago, my favorite late-night restaurant snack was a belgium waffle sundae, but I haven't had one of those in ages.
-
And an ache-breaky free birthday for MattH

Broken appendages for one and all on opening night to DR JRand and company for ARSENIC AND OLD LACE!
-
Had a nice, quiet birthday lunch. It flew by, however.
-
When I got in, I immediately sat down to begin today's work project - THE GIRL NEXT DOOR. It has appealing actors and some good lines and moments of physical comedy, but it became more ridiculous and outrageous the longer it ran, and the mix of comedy styles within the film is so erratic that I felt it could never settle down and be something special. It seemed more a grabbag of comedy ideas and motifs.
So, a mixed review from me.
-
It flew by, however.
Like a gazelle doing the Carioca?
-
I also got through all of the bonus features. There were three commentaries (one full one and two other scene specific ones from the stars). And a bunch of fairly unimpressive featurettes connected to the movie.
-
I wonder if bk's long auditions today are going anything like the audition scene in The First Nudie Musical...
-
It flew by, however.
Like a gazelle doing the Carioca?
Not a bad description at all! :)

Condolences DR Cilla. I’m glad Steve’s passing was peaceful. My thoughts of comfort will be with you all this weekend.
-
Thanks DR DAW.
ANYWAY....yes we open tonight for better or worse.
I had to scratch my head the first time I read DR Jrand's post. I thought he said "...a huge WWI apparatus .." and I thought, "A tank? Well, I guess that would be a distraction."
LOL, I had the same initial response.
-
DR Jose, I'm sorry for the loss of your colleague.
-
I wonder if bk's long auditions today are going anything like the audition scene in The First Nudie Musical...
Hmmm, sounds very reminiscent of this evenings rehearsal for The Full Monty - let's just say that we're doing "Let it Go" in costume - and the rehearsal is closed to other cast people besides the guys and certain production staff.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR SIGERSON HOLMES!!

-
I also thought it said WWI.
-
From Cilla:
Oregon lets dogs into food stores? Hmm, looks like that might change
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/03/us/03dogs.html?_r=1&hp
I think of all the times Keith or I stood outside of that Whole Foods with Sherlock while the other one shopped. To think all 3 of us could have gone in ;D I don't recall Bryan ever mentioning a dog in there & he shopped there on a regular basis. We never went to the Safeway which opened across from Bryan's condo after he moved.
I do love how Portland is a very dog friendly city.
-
DR Jennifer the oldest daughter on MEDIUM shaved her hair for her role in MY SISTER’S KEEPER.
Thanks for the link to “where shows left off”.
-
Back from accompanying DH Richard to our local public library, where he had a book to pick up. In my browsing I found the OBC recording of Finian's Rainbow on CD and Grand Hotel and Four Weddings and a Funeral on DVD. I've never seen Grand Hotel and thought I should because BK's always saying, "People come, people go, just like Grand Hotel..." I have seen Four Weddings... (a long time ago), but one of Richard's seminary profs told us not long ago that he'd been in all the churches, so I want to see it again. I wasn't paying attention to the churches the first time around.
-
DR Ginny, I was so mad at myself to discover that I had been in the church in Paris containing "the golden line" from The DaVinci Code, but had neglected to look for it while I was there.
-
Break a leg, kisses on your opening, and all that good stuff for tonight JRAnd!
Tonight's the opening? Oh, God, I am out to lunch! It's pathetic when DR MBarnum is more in touch than I am.
Break a leg, DR JRand59!
-
Opening night break-a-leg vibes to DR JRand and his A&OL pals!
Did your prop manager make potato chip sandwiches for Aunt Martha to carry on a tray? That's one of my best memories from my high school turn in A&OL!
No! But what a great idea. Martha just comes in with coffee cups on a tray.
A production a friend was in in high school had one of the cast members lying naked in the window seat for when Mortimer has to open the window seat and do that great take!!!

Well, that would do it!

For those of you on Facebook, you may wish to become a "fan" of author Christopher Moore to get his updates - or at least checking out his page. Which you can do without friending him.
Today's, on art from the Louvre (http://www.facebook.com/theauthorguy#/note.php?note_id=128495962489&ref=mf), is most instructive. :)
And very informative!
-
Nothing pegs my angstmeter like not being able to lay my hands on something I know I just recently had.
That's what my date said last night. :-X
::)
;D
-
condolences to Cilla and Steve's family
-
condolences to Jose on the passing of his co-worker
-
break a leg tonight JRand and may the Karloff be with you
-
I’m shocked at the hours DR Vixter puts in for soccer practice! Vibes her muscles adjust to the strain soon & she is up to massaging DR Vixmom’s shoulder.
-
Thank you DR Jose for posting about Erich Kunzel!
I am utterly "disgusted"!
I have loads of recordings done by Mr Kunzel over the years with different orchestras and they have brightened my life and my ears.
I am going to miss his artistry, as much as I miss the wonderful voice Jerry Hadley.
-
I thought your snappy comeback would be more about no one ever forcing you "out." ;) ;D
I'm unpredictable.
No....that's not the word.......hmmmmmmmmm.....
-
DR Ginny, I was so mad at myself to discover that I had been in the church in Paris containing "the golden line" from The DaVinci Code, but had neglected to look for it while I was there.
I don't think it would have mattered. They sent it out for cleaning the week you were there....
-
I was sorry to read about Steve's passing, Cilla, though it was not unexpected.
Please accept my condolences on behalf of his family.
-
BK, did you get my fax?
I have now officially finished my work on Brent's Christmas album. Tomorrow at 11am I have my first meeting with the mighty Rob Berman on FINIAN'S RAINBOW.
-
Birthday greetings to DR Matt H.
-
And the word of the day is: BIBELOT!
Is that what Arthur wore before he became King?
-
Thanks again for the additional condolences. They are having 2 services on Monday. Not sure why there are 2 - one at 2:00 Pm and one at 7:00 PM. anyway, it means I won't be coming back to SC until Tuesday. I had to rearrange a few things, but it wasn't too difficult to do.
-
Callie is feeling much better. I think it was something she ate. The canned food hasn't been agreeing with her, so i think we'll stuck to the dry while I'm gone. That's what they both like the best anyway.
-
We had 3.14 inches of rain last night!
-
Wow! That's a lot of rain!
We are hoping for a storm tonight.
-
It poured all night. I have a slate roof so even rain sounds very loud. It was actually a one day record for Sioux city
-
DR Cilla, good news about Callie :)
And good you could rearrange your schedule to return a day later.
-
DR Laura, any adoption news today?
-
Steve died peacefully in his sleep about 4:30 this morning. I've got depositions this afternoon on an upcoming trial, so I will keep the same plan and go up tomorrow.
I am so sorry to read about Steve's passing. My prayers and my sympathies.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I think I'm going to get a haircut. I haven't seen Mr. Lee in almost four years. -Of course, I've had my hair cut since then, but not by Mr. Lee. ;)
I'm sorry, Jose, but Bruce Lee is dead.

I'm up and have already shaved. Poor Cason has to come up here at eight-thirty to pick up a dolly he left here yesterday - I donated a few things to his new apartment, so he'd brought a U-Haul and dolly here.
Be sure and tell Cason that I said, "Hello, dolly!"
-
No news today.
-
Break a leg, kisses on your opening, and all that good stuff for tonight JRAnd!
Mike! How come you never kissed me on my opening?
-
Tonight's repast: whole wheat thin spaghetti with chicken, tomatoes, and parm cheese in a pesto sauce.
-
Yum, Singdaw.
My DH cooked on the grill: lean hamburgers and corn on the cob.
-
Now we are settled in for our favorite summer evening activity:
Watching the storm approach on accuweather.com
-
LOL DR Laura.
-
I rarely eat late night snacks, maybe once in 5 years and then only because I'm traveling. I remember have a delicious haagen-daz ice cream sunday with Bruce one evening.
-
Yep! I think tonight is going to be a Ben & Jerry's night.
-
There is an interesting article on tvguide.com that reminds us where our favorite shows left off in may:

This is great, Jennifer. Thanks for posting it. :D
-
Just listened to Gaily, Gaily (really like Christmas Eve on Skid Row) , and The Night they Raided Minsky's.
-
Really smoky at work again. Just listened to the health report on the radio, my being so exhausted is common ( I believe they said if you see ashes on your car, it's in the air you breathe).
30 minute nap ahead.
-
Glad a 3 day weekend is almost here, and that I live further from the smoke.
-
DR Sam, healthy vibes!!!!!
-
Glad a 3 day weekend is ahead. And I live further from the smoke.

-
Hi Jane, thank you.

G'night!

They say 90 % of all fires are started by humans.
Truly horrible.
-
Finally home from the long casting session. And guess what? Around four o'clock the people who told me that going this long wasn't a problem, well, funny, their eyes started to glaze over and they could no longer concentrate. Maybe next time, they will listen to me :)
-
We saw some very good people, and we actually got most of the people we'll need for our private table reading - depending on how those people do, then we'll see who we want to keep for the real deal.
-
We only had a twenty-five minute break, and I had two chicken salad sandwiches - not big ones - medium sized. The co-author made the chicken salad and while it was very peculiar it was pretty good. He doesn't use mayo at all - just low-fat sour cream and low-fat cream cheese, so it was actually calorie and fat gram friendly. Then chicken (but dark meat only - not my fave), candied walnuts, onions, and that's about it. I had one on a small onion roll and one on a bagel. So, I'll probably eat a little something in a while. Happily, I had no traffic at all coming home.
-
I sure am glad to be home, and other than a few errands and whatnot tomorrow, I am really looking forward to a holiday weekend of lounging about in my lounging pyjamas.
-
Like bk, I love, love, love breakfast at night (that's three loves!). In fact, I love breakfast-type foods at any time of day or night.
Recently, I have been having a craving for IHOP. I may have to go tonight for dinner. :D
And so, I shall. It's time for me to leave work, so I'm off to IHOP. Until later!
-
They say 90 % of all fires are started by humans.
Probably why Smokey the Bear said "Only You can prevent forest fires."
-
Thanks TCB
-
I recorded the HBO movie Grey Gardens earlier today and just finished watching it. It was much better than I thought it would be. I really liked it
-
DR Cillaliz - I saw the HBO Grey Gardens when Richard and I were in Wisconsin in the spring and I liked it, too.
-
Good Evening!
I had a very nice time at The National Zoo.
I had a very nice walk through Adams Morgan.
I had a very nice walk through Dupont Circle.
I had a very nice walk through Georgetown.
I had a very nice walk up and down "The Exorcist" stairs.
I had a very nice walk across the Key Bridge from DC into Virginia.
And then I had a very nice "sit down" as I rode the Metro from Rosslyn out to Vienna (VA).
Whew!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR MATTH!!!!!
-
After everything that's happened this week. Getting lost in a movie was really nice
-
Thanks to DRs Jane and Francois for the birthday greetings.
-
And thank you, DR JoseSPiano, for the good wishes. Much appreciated.
-
I forgot to mention earlier that while I was waiting to go to lunch this morning, I watched the last three episodes of LIE TO ME from the Blu-ray set. I enjoyed the series but I won't be adding it to my regular viewing schedule in the coming season. If I get the set next year, I'll watch it just as I did these episodes this year.
-
After everything that's happened this week. Getting lost in a movie was really nice
Yep, I know the feeling. Right now, I'm trying not to think about the fact that my DS is on the road to his girlfriend's parents' house in Michigan. He left Cincinnati when he got off work at 8pm and it's a 5 or 6 hour drive.
-
I skimmed through today's ATWT. Luke, Noah, and Mason were all on today, and it was the set-up for their upcoming triangle story arc.
-
So, DR Matt, what was your birthday meal splurge?
-
I watched today's OLTL next. Fish was on, but it had nothing to do with his personal life story plot. Maybe they'll get back to that on tomorrow's show.
-
So, DR Matt, what was your birthday meal splurge?
No splurge. We went to Burger King since it's my favorite fast food place. Really enjoyed it today since I hadn't had it in a long time.
I didn't bake myself anything today. I thought I'd look at cakes already done at the grocery store tomorrow, and if I didn't see anything I liked, then I'll make one tomorrow.
-
Next I watched PERFECT STRANGER, that Halle Berry/Bruce WIllis mystery from a year or two ago. I recorded it last night on FX-HD. Not a great mystery (Berry had some really poor acting moments) but I'm glad I finally got it checked off my list of movies to watch.
-
I finished up my evening of viewing by watching the Helen Hayes/Bette Davis version of MURDER WITH MIRRORS. I've been going back through Bette Davis' second book of memoirs, and she mentions that this was the first film she made after surviving a mastecomy and stroke. Certainly you could tell she was struggling to get lines out and she sometimes seems not a part of the scene, rather disoriented.
This weekend I may pull out Helen Hayes' other Miss Marple film - A CARIBBEAN MYSTERY and rewatch it.
I also got a couple of Blu-rays for gifts today, and they'll also get watched over the weekend. Right now, I plan to take at least Saturday off and maybe Sunday, too, depending on what arrives in the mail.
-
Tomorrow I'll do the last of this week's Fox Blu-ray releases: MASH (the film).
-
I forgot to mention that I watched the extended GLEE pilot tonight, too, which I had recorded on the DVR. Loved the show even more the second time around, and I thoroughly enjoyed the new Matthew Morrison "Leavin' on a Jet Plane" which had been inserted.
I believe the announcer said the show begins its new season next Wednesday night, so I can't wait to see new episodes.
-
Now I'm going to close things down in my office and head downstairs to go to bed.
Good night!
-
'night!
-
We are still tracking the storm. I think it will miss us tonight.
-
While riding the Metro today, I saw a visually-impaired man with a cane get on the train... He was wearing a uniform... "Pentagon Maintenance Staff"... Truly made me think... Hmmm... ???
-
And just who is this Señor Phine that is the subject of this tread?

I gotta tell you.

Night all

I gotta tell you.
Did you get your fax?
-
Well... Me already sleepy...
Goodnight.

Boy, that's a relief, JMK. Maybe that will help pay some of the expenses from the water park.
-
Between my last post and now, we had a downpour. I think it's over now.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I took a nice drive. It's like an oven outside. Went to Amoeba - haven't been in many weeks, maybe even a couple of months. Nothing much happening there. I did pick up a cheapo LP of a score I'm thinking about doing, just to hear it again.

I had dinner at In-N-Out.
Tomorrow I'm going to try to make it my last day to drink coffee at work. They are so many personality clashes in the kitchen area about the coffee, the refrig, the microwaves, the garbage disposal, the toaster oven, the mess. I'M STAYING THE HECK AWAY. I was called crazy because I said something about the coffee being so strong it makes my stomach cramp. I'm used to Starbuck's strong coffee. Bite Me.

That's the end of my uninteresting day. Night all. Yea, it's almost Friday and a 3 day weekend for me.

Glad you got even a little bit of rain, Laura DR!!
