RE: last night's DANCING WITH THE STARS
DR Cillaliz, did you pick a favorite yet?
My favorite dance last night was melissa joan hart and mark. I don't think that she is the strongest dancer. But she was much improved last night. And he choreographed an amazing routine.
I also thought donny osmond was very good.
Obviously mya is the strongest dancer. But she really rubbed me the wrong way last night, telling dimitri which of his choreography she wanted to change. To me if a celeb can do their own choreography then they really are too good to be in this competition. It is about them learning from the professionals.
One of my previous favorites was so bad last night that i think he may get voted out (louie). I just thought that was awful. What was chelsie thinking???
I also dislike michael irvin and chuck lidell. And thought aaron carter had problems (but i do like him and karina).
I think derek and joanna were quite good too. It's amazing how mark and derek can take any partner they get and make them quite good. I like them both as choreographers.

I spent a wonderful evening last night having dinner with Larry and then seeing Finian's Rainbow.
What a delightful production. I left the theatre smiling and very happy.
What a score (Look to the Rainbow is one of my favorite songs) and what a cast. Kate Baldwin is great as Sharon and Jim Norton is delightful as Finian. Mr. Jackson is quite good and works very well with KB, He's also very easy on the eyes. Terry White (a personal friend of Mr. Moore) is wonderful. The real treat is Christopher Fitzgerald (a good Irish boy) as Og, the leprechaun. Larry, you're right about his legs! Oh, my.
The cast is uniformly excellent and the score sounds great in the St. James Theatre.
There is REAL dancing in this show. Not a lot of gymnastic jumping around. It's real dancing. How wonderful!
I had no complaints. Larry can be very proud to be connected with this show. I hope it's a hit and runs a long time.
-
Good morning, all! I am back to the McGlinnventory this morning. I Was off a week with FINIAN'S RAINBOW band rehearsals and then our paralegal Geri had other rhings to deal with, so today we reconvene. I believe it will be a good time, and I hope to be out of there around 12. At 2 pm, the NYCGMC music director is coming over to discuss the Appalachian Carols stuation. I don't know if this will be a pleasant or tense meeting, but I simply want the piece performed as I finalized it, protecting at the same time myself and my publisher from illegal copies beng passed about.
After that, a nap perhaps and then a performance of FINIAN; I may learn more about the Finale situation tonight.
Good morning, DR Ben!

I was never a big fan of TV cartoons, primarily because of the limited animation.
That said, two of my earliest publicity clients were Daws Butler and Don Messick and, it was through Mr. Messick that I got to meet one of my childhood heroes, Bud Abbott. It was when they were doing that Abbott & Costello cartoon series back in the 1960s.

Tuesday morning greetings! It's very gloomy here in SW Ohio today.
-
Well, I need a social secretary! There is no McGlinnventory today, as my colleague William Hicks just called to remind me; it's Thursday and Friday of this week. So, I sent an email to my PHI colleague Curtis about meeting on BABES Act Two this morning. In the meantime, I've got cartons to finish off and Fed Ex to phone. Oy.
-
Last night I watched THE MAN WHO UNDERSTOOD WOMEN, a rarely shown film. And now I completely understand why.
-
I always liked the Peanuts Christmas and Great Pumpkin specials and the Grinch. I haven't seen either for years.
-
Another TV special which I love:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/WandaDuck/snowman.jpg)
Okay, it didn't originate as a TV special, but that's where I first saw it.

There was also A CHRISTMAS CAROL shown for a few years during the 70's that was beautifully animated:

I wish this was available on DVD.

Yikes! I realized that I had forgotten all about Jay Ward:
THE ADVENTURES OF ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE
GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE
THE DUDLEY DO-RIGHT SHOW

Yes, A Charlie Brown Christmas is one of my favorites also.
-
And Rocky and Bullwinkle.
See, I'm not so esoteric after all.
-
Ginny, I think you and Richard will really enjoy Finian's Rainbow
-
DangerMouse!
I'm flummoxed by your choice! LOL! What other cartoon could there be for your choice? Morning, Ben!
-
Good morning!
Chilly and overcast today with more rain expected. But it seems like fall, and I'm not complaining. It's my favorite time of year.
-
TOD: I wasn't sure if we were talking TV or movie cartoons. It seems we're talking TV cartoons.
-
TOD:
Beyond doubt, ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE were my all-time favorites. I was heartbroken when they only released the first three seasons of the show on DVD. That left two unreleased seasons. Thankfully, I had the old videotapes which contained several of the story arcs from those last two seasons, but lost are the "Fractured Fairy Tales," "Peabody's Improbable History," "Aesop & Son," and "Dudley Do-Right" from those last two years.
-
Arthur!
Arthur? Really? It's a cute show, and for a few years (probably starting when DearNephew Wilson was 3 years old), we probably watched one or two episodes a day. I liked the characters and the lessons.
-
Ginny, I think you and Richard will really enjoy Finian's Rainbow
I think so, too, DR Ben, especially after reading your glowing report!
-
The first half dozen PEANUTS cartoon made-for-TV specials are all unique and wonderful. They retained the same voice cast for those first four or so, and those kids were never eclipsed by any other voice casting. These are the ones I return to the most often to relive and enjoy.
I have never been a fan of THE GRINCH. It bores me to tears. (I didn't grow up on DR. SEUSS.) I have the old original brown DVD release and never replaced it (they did do a DVD remaster that corrected much of what was awful about the original release, but I never bought it. I got the one I have in a used bin for $1.) I won't buy the Blu-ray either unless it's reduced GREATLY in price.
-
Other cartoon shows I really loved growing up:
THE ALVIN SHOW (which I mentioned yesterday)
THE JETSONS
HUCKLEBERRY HOUND
TOP CAT
-
So far, no UPS deliveries, but I haven't checked the front door yet. The UPS truck seemed to drive right by, but I could have been distracted by exercising and not seen him go to the front.
That will mean another day off. Have no clue what I'll watch today if I do indeed have the day off.
-
Page Two Dance!!!
-
TOD:

The Wacky Races
The Flintstones
Yogi Bear
Charlie Brown Christmas
The Grinch that Stole Christmas
-
I still have MONK on the DVR and also THE FOUR FEATHERS which I recorded last Friday morning. I'd like to watch something from the unwatched shelf. Just SO many choices.
-
I am not a fan of the Rankin-Bass non-stop-motion animated cartoons such as FROSTY THE SNOMAN and THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I always thought them badly done and childish. But a lot of people love them and they've attained classic status over the years.
-
I thought FROSTY was traditional animation, but RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER and SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN were the stop-motion types that are so popular.
I was a teenager when they came out, so they seemed very juvenile to me, and I never cottoned to them. My best friend John ADORES them. He grow up seeing them.
-
Now I must head downstairs to see if the UPS man slipped past me and left a package. Then, I'll do some chores and start getting ready for lunch out today.

Because one of the titles I'm reviewing, GHOST SHIP, begins with a nice rendition of "Senza Fine," (sung by Monica Mancini), I pulled out one of my two-fer CDs of The Brass Ring which of course had a pretty sizable hit with that tune when it was interpolated into The Flight of the Phoenix. Good lord, these are some of the most hysterical arrangements ever in 60's instrumental pop. I was literally LOL-ing as I listened all morning.
-
OMG--The Brass Ring is now doing Guantanamera, with a Desiderata-esque voiceover. How could I have forgotten how cheesy these were? :)

Possible SPOILAGE re: "Heroes"
I'm not quite certain what to make of recent developments but am cautiously optimistic that the writers have found their way again after two rather lackluster seasons since the first incredible one.
My favorite character has always been Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia). Peter is the ultimate anti-hero "hero"...always relishing the abilities he acquires and inclined toward using them to help others rather than to acquire power over others.
This season, Peter is working as a paramedic. He's always first on the scene, always saving folks, and has started getting negative feedback from his co-workers who are suspicious as to how he manages to get there first and save the day. Is Peter "causing" these accidents? Happily, the writers only broached this in one episode and have now intoduced a new character (Emma) who is deaf, but who sees colors in waves when she encounters "sounds". She is so attuned to the colors that she is capable of creating beautiful music of her own. The encounter between Peter and Emma was interesting and not at all "rote" the way many can be in TV series. Peter's ability to absorb powers he encounters provides the link he needed to get her attention. I am looking forward, wtih relish, to see where the writers can take this development. (It was great to see Louise Fletcher, as Emma's mom).
Our friend Silar has recovered his form. Last season, Silar killed Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) while he was in the shape of Nathan (Silar has the ability to shape-shift, among many incredible powers). In a turn of events, a character played by Swoosie Kurtz had Nathan killed last week, and the killer also buried the body. Silar, of course, cannot BE killed...and he was healed. But...when he clawed his way out of his grave he had reverted back to the shape of Silar...and with absolutely no knowldege of who he is.
By the end of the episode, Silar had been identified by the police as Gabriel and they were going to arrest him for the murder of his mother. Silar recalls nothing of this murder of his mother (he's guilty, of course). He escaped and found his way to the circus where the new characters introduced in the season' opener are living. This circus seems to be something along the lines of the one in "Something Wicked This Way Comes" because the police were hot on Silar's trail when he found the circus, and the leader of the folks who run it. The police could not see the circus, but Silar was taken in...and has found a new family.
The episode, happily, had only a brief moment with Hiro, who teleported in to Peter's apartment building. Peter put him in the hospital after Hiro collapsed.
I was quite pleased with the episode...moreso than I've been in a long time with any episode of this show.
Also of interest is Claire who is now in college and has an unusual roommate. Last night, we learned that the circus folks have someone in the college who is doing all she can to bring Claire into the circus folks' fold. Murder was involved. Meanwhile, Claire's roomie has a "crush" on Claire and planted a big old kiss on her lips last night. We do not yet know how Claire felt about that.
End SPOILAGE.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And it was nice to get an actual night's sleep last night. -The quick trip down to Richmond this past weekend - and the two bus trips - really did a number on my system. It was nice to wake up "rested" this morning.

TOD: I was always fond of Huckleberry Hound and Yogi Bear, primarily because of "other" characters on their shows. On Huckleberry Hound, I was a sucker for Yakky Doodle. And on Yogi Bear, I looked forward to all the SnagglePuss cartoons.
The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show was also a favorite. Love those Fractured Fairy Tales.

I heard about that two years ago, and it prompted me to purchase two or three CHRISTMAS CAROL dvds in hopes that I might find it. Alas, all I've come across are lackluster versions that would bore anyone to sleep.

The real treat is Christopher Fitzgerald (a good Irish boy) as Og, the leprechaun. Larry, you're right about his legs! Oh, my.
I still remember playing a callback for Christopher a few years ago. The role he was auditioning for required the actor to be topless/shirtless for a good portion of the show. Well... The final part of the audition was a "body check" (for tattoos, piercings, scars, etc.) - the production team just needed the actors to take off their shirt. Well... After being asked if he wouldn't mind taking his shirt off... Well... The next thing we knew, he was standing there in front of the production team in just his boxers... Well... They really only needed to see his torso, but... Well... ::)

I really enjoyed the episode last night. Is anyone conserned that they seem to be setting us up to believe that Hiro is going to die? But he can't...at least, not for quite a while. In the first season, Hiro came to Peter (I think) from the future, speaking perfect English with no Japanese accent at all. We don't know when he came from, but as of last night, he still had his accent, so he's safe. :)

The SUnday episode of THREE RIVERS finally showed up on HD On Demand, so I'll watch that when I go back down.

To fill out the afternoon, I decided I grab the first season of MEDIUM off the shelf and rewatch the pilot. How fascinating to see the girls so young and Allison's gift being questioned by everyone.
Interesting side note: the terrible actress who now plays detective Scanlon's pregnant girl friend (she's actually the wife of creator/producer Glenn Gordon Caron) was in the pilot as the only female Texas Ranger on the squad. She was JUST as terrible in that role as she is now as the assistant mayor of Phoenix.

I don't really have a favorite. I think it's time for Michael Irvine and Chuck Lidell to go home. I think Chelsie made the same mistake Lacey did when she first started, she highlighted herself and left her partner just standing there. Not a good move in this competition
I like most of the others, not real fond of Mya. I wouldn't mind if one of many won

We're having mixed precip tonight...rain and snow. But it will be in the 60s by the weekend that will be nice. I'll be raking leaves for sure
-
Cry For Us All has arrived! ;D
-
I watched FRANKENSTEIN 1970 and listened to the entertaining commentary by Charlotte Austin, Tom Weaver, and Bob Burns.
Oof. I still need to pick up that set.
-
Just drizzling now. Had to go do another errand, but now I'm back and shall just start the new liner notes.
-
I've put CRY FOR US ALL into my iTunes, and now I'm heading down to the theatre. I think I will stay and watch tonight's performance.
-
I've been out in the gullywasher about three times today...my trousers got drenched EACH time...and now resemble something slept in over a long weekend by a college student at a frat party.
Sigh. One more trek out in it...and that's in about 8 minutes as I trek toward the home enclave.

Well I certainly would. One thing is for certain...there's no such thing as too much of a very good musical thing!!!
-
Speaking of musical things....where on earth is DAW today? Did someone tell him to gird his loins and he got confused?
-
Finished about two-thirds of the new liner notes - may try to finish them later tonight.

T.O.D.
MR. MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL
ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE
THE JETSONS
THE FLINTSTONES
-
There was also A CHRISTMAS CAROL shown for a few years during the 70's that was beautifully animated:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8817517652455175582#
I wish this was available on DVD.
I think this is it on VHS at Amazon.com
A Christmas Carol (http://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Carol-Animated-Version-VHS/dp/6305107645/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=video&qid=1255451866&sr=8-3)
Thanks for finding that, DR Ron. But you forgot how cheap I am.
LOL. You could make the money back by making DVD-Rs and selling them to Hainsie/Kimlets for $5 each, plus postage.
Great idea, Ron!
-
DR GINNY - I think we had a girl like that in Indy as well....on Channel 4.
Frances had her poisoned. ;)
Speaking of which, I've been getting some really fascinating PM's from a FB FF fan who evidently got a private tour of Western State. Western State has a room devoted to Frances! I never knew that--I guess I should call them and see if I can drop by sometime.
Oh, they will let you drop in, it is the leaving that could be a problem!
-
Hopefully, CRY FOR US ALL will also be in my home mailbox.
I had my copy sent to my work and it's not here, yet. Hopefully, tomorrow for me.
Mine has arrived!
-
Another nap for me - where did that come from? Hope I'm not coming down with something.
Old age?

Maybe, DR TCB, just maybe...

Back from a really nice lunch with a lot of interesting conversation, which could benefit Kritzerland in nice ways over the next few months.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Then I'm sending Mega Vibes! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DITTO!!
I just stopped in to say hi. I hope everyone is well.
G'night!
Holy moley on rye am I glad I didn't go to The Hollywood Show on Sunday. Apparently Mr. Cassidy was a disaster - abusive, surly, unwilling to sign anything but the photos on his table, no shaking hands, no photos with fans, and he left after fifty minutes saying he didn't feel well. He threatened the owners of the show (who'd stupidly given him a guarantee - if he was there three hours he'd be guaranteed a certain amount of money - these new owners are fools - Ray Courts never did that and never would - it's not what his show was about), and apparently the other celebs were rather appalled by his behavior.
-
:o How rude of Mr. Cassidy!
He obviously didn't read (and take inspiration from) the section, "Meeting Mr. Weede (http://www.kritzerland.com/CryForUsAll_Notes.pdf)" in the liner notes of the new Kritzerland release, Cry For Us All (http://www.kritzerland.com/cry.htm). ;)
Good evening...
Somewhat quiet tonight...
Just discovered I have two student workers with the flu and they were diagnosed with swine... Oh goodie... So far ... so good!
-
Got some interesting shows watched tonight. I began by skimming through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Luke was on for a few seconds, but this love triangle (which may turn into a love quadrangle) is certainly tedious.
-
ONE LIFE TO LIVE wasn't much better with an idiot suspect pushing Officer Fish down on a table to escape and then suggesting HE was going to sue him! Ridiculous. By the time we got to the end of the episode, Fish had taken about all the abuse he could stand and snapped. Good for him!
-
Then I went back to HD On Demand and watched Sunday's telecast of THREE RIVERS. Once again, I enjoyed the show for the cast and the cases. It appeared we got a new cast regular, a cute/nerdy guy who's sort of an administrative assistant who earned scorn in the early going but saved the day by the end of the hour. I hope we see more of him. Definitely an appealing addition to the company.
-
I have not really watched a lot of cartoons. A few animated movies here and there
Favorite christmas specials..
Christmas Carol
Non-holiday
Bugs Bunny
Rocky and Bullwinkile
Jetsons
Flintstones
Pebbles and Bam-Bam
Star Trek
Strawberry Shortcake
and yes... I occaisionally watched the Smurfs back in the day
-
Next, I finished the MEDIUM episode I had gotten halfway through and then watched three more episodes. Really love those episodes from the first season.
My favorite, the one where she lets the defense attorney know not to mess with her, ranks among the great classic MEDIUM episodes of the entire five year + run.
-
I concluded the evening with tonight's NCIS episode. It was a flashback episode concerning Ziva's months away from the unit when she had rejoined her father. Not one of my favorite episodes but glad to have her status finally confirmed.
-
Star Trek
I forgot about the animated Star Trek! I used to watch that and I even bought the series on DVD.
-
Time for home!
Goodbye...for now (a Stephen Sondheim reference).
-
I've finished my evening internet surf and will now head downstairs and put myself to bed.
Good night!
-
Page five - I'm just not understanding the reason for this dearth of postings. Where is Jane, where is Jose, where are the errant and truant? I feel a bitch-slapping coming on.
-
So far this is not proving to be a healthy month at the library for student workers...
1 case of seasonal flu
2 cases of H1N1
Mono
and a broken wrist....
-
Good Evening!
I'm here. Well, rather... I'm back.
-
Hi Jose. How's it going?
-
bk - The next time you're in NYC, and you have a hankering for an old-fashioned Hot Fudge Sundae, may I suggest you head out to Forest Hill (Queens) and grab a seat at the counter of Eddie's Sweet Shop (http://www.yelp.com/biz/eddies-sweet-shop-queens). I ordered a two-scoop sundae - one scoop each of Coffee Chip and Raspberry - and it was truly was just a great ice cream sundae. And the hot fudge is a proper hot fudge! The "scooper" even made sure to line the cup with some hot fudge before scooping the ice cream on top. -And, of course, more hot fudge was drizzled over the top after the ice cream was in place. Just the right amount of "melt", and since the sundae cup is served on a metal dish, it's very easy to spoon off the hot fudge that has run down the side of the glass and into the dish which has thickened as it was chilled by the ice cream. It was the perfect way to "warm up" on this chilly night. ;)
-
Hi Jose. How's it going?
Hi, DR Kit Lo! It goes well. I had ice cream tonight, so all is right with the world. ;)
-
DR Dakota Celt - ~~~~~~GERM-AWAY VIBES TO YOU~~~~~~
-
I'm going to Times Square tomorrow so I can see Seth Rudetsky interview that "filthy-hot chick from Alabama."
-
And the meeting over the "Appalachian Carols" went quite well. All is good.
Yeah! :)
-
When I got in from lunch, I watched last night's CASTLE. A fun episode just like usual. The Julliard violinist is REALLY cute, and the mystery caper was pretty intriguing until the writers gave the game away about 2/3 of the way through.
What was the name of the violinist's character? actor? ;)
-
Good evening everyone.
Just wanted to say have a good Wednesday.
-
I've been at a meeting this evening. It was really exciting. Really.
-
May you have a good Wednesday too, DR Sam.
-
The first neighbor who left a note on my door, cooked her own goose early this morning ( I believe that is the right saying). At 4AM her company was in the courtyard of the building yelling and barely able to walk, the manager threw them out, then in the street the woman tried to kick out the window of her boyfriend's car because he would not open the door till she calmed down. And that is the short version of events.
Leave notes on my door, NEIGHBORS, BITE ME.
-
bk, almost done with book.
-
Hi Jose,
Hi Laura,
-
I went to a meeting this evening also, the neighborhood residents association. 40 minutes after it was to start they were still socializing. I had to leave, I did not want to walk out in the middle of the debate that was supposed to take place, and I was not going to stay late in the rain.
YEA, WE HAVE RAIN.
YEA, WE HAVE COOL WEATHER.
-
Night.
-
Mmmm, hot fudge sundae, always worth a trek. I'm through with my viewing for the evening and delightful viewing it was.
-
I cannot believe we're not getting past page six - it's sort of nauseating actually.
-
Are you going to puke, Mr. Kimmel? Puke! Puke!
-
No puke is not a word I would ever use. Vomit is fine as is hurl and maybe, on an off day, barf. But never puke.
-
-
Gimme, Gimme.
-
I must say, I am really not looking forward to this long casting session tomorrow.
-
That is one yummilicious sundae, Jose!
-
Gimme, Gimme.
From Mamma Mia! or Thoroughly Modern Millie?
-
The latter.
-
Not the former.
-
I've finished the notes and am still rather astonished that we could not get past page six. Where IS Jane anyway? She just disappears?
-
I don't know, if we had six measly little postings we'd at least get to page seven.
-
I don't know, if we had five measly little postings we'd at least to to page seven.
-
I could do this by myself.
-
I might do this by myself.
-
I should do this by myself.
-
I will do this by myself.
-
I'm trying to do this by myself.
-
At long last page seven.
-
I've finished the notes and am still rather astonished that we could not get past page six. Where IS Jane anyway? She just disappears?
I believe if you go back and read her most recent posts, you shall find the/her answer.
