Well, you've read the notes, you did a Buy It Now on the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently on eBay buying a rare first edition of a book by Charles BuCOWsical.

Good morning all.

We have a full day ahead.

Dear Larry is coming over for a visit and to pick up some CDs and then we are meeting a friend for dinner. He came into town unexpectedly and called to ask us out for a meal.

It's still grey and rainy in New York though the temperature is supposed to rise as the day goes along.

Sandra, I just finished watching Arthur. He's on at 7am on the PBS Kids digital channel. D.W. learned the value of money.

Good morning.

Re e-bay: I bought a lot of vintage postcards for DRs Sandra and Megan (and they still have them, I understand) many years ago. After a while, it seemed only the dealers had the Evelyn Nesbit postcards and they wanted so much for them. I have no idea if they are worth anything now. Probably not. I haven't bought on e-bay in years, since it seemed most of the sellers were dealers.

I love EBAY - I buy this and that there.....some things for the store including some jewelry and some odd collections of used books that help fill up the shelves.....New Age Paperback and Occult Collections.  They usually go for 12 or 15 books for $15 or so including shipping.

Good morning, all! The alarm went off at 7 am and I settled back into bed for another 93 minutes of peculiar dreams involving a cat and a lodge somewhere in a forest. That's all I remember of it now.  The neighbor above me arrived home quite late and quite noisily, but he brought no one with him, thank you, Jesus.

I am now a proficient on downloading videos from youtube, and I have to thank DRs George and singdaw for their helpful emails and links, several of which I could not decipher - i am not good at computer or sound equipment vocabulary - but after having a horrid time with a site called Keepvid, which DR George recommended and becoming quite frustrated, I reread the information sent by DR singdaw and discovered another site called Clipnabber, which worked like a dream. Thank you, gentlemen!

So, today, more of the things on my worktable and a trip dwntown to visit DR Ben and Anthony. I may make a stop at Toyland on the way to drop off some things that are piling up here.

Good morning!

Another beautiful morning! It was a little chillier this morning than yesterday, but still very bracing and invigorating. I am sure these walks are part of the reason my recovery came about fairly swiftly once the therapist gave the go-ahead to do it. Now, I look forward to being out in the fresh air almost every morning.

I am very grateful to Ebay for helping me to acquire a fair number of sundry objects at very good prices including the keyboard that I am now typing on. I can't think of anything I've been scammed on though I did wait six weeks for the delivery of an object and had to threaten the vendor with an Ebay investigation before he sent me the item.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I've already had a bowl of cereal, a cup of coffee and the rest of the almond cookie I bought last night from one of the Chinese bakeries in Flushing. -Although, I actually think it was a coconut walnut cookie.  In any case, it made for a perfect breakfast dessert.

Since MAD MEN's season has concluded, that's one fewer show I'll have to worry about watching on the DVR during the week.

The new six-part remake of THE PRISONER which begins tonight on AMC has not gotten good reviews at all, so I don't plan to watch it.

I was very glad to see that MEDIUM once again topped the ratings of all network broadcasts on Friday night. It dipped in the ratings a little bit last week when NBC put a second LAW & ORDER episode on opposite it, but it was back to par this week once again scoring higher than its GHOST WHISPERER lead-in.

As far as eBay, I don't lookf for collector items so much anymore, but I did get an entire set of phones that go with my current phone system for a steal.  From the messages still on the answering machine it's clear someone's business went under, so I'm sorry for him, but really glad I cot such a great deal. I literally saved about $500

I've only bought one thing off of eBay and that was about eight years ago, and I've never sold anything on eBay.  I gave up eBay and PayPal a few years ago after I had discovered that someone had cloned my account and was listing fake items.  Thankfully, I did not lose any money, nor did I receive any negative feedback, but it took a while to get everything straightened out.

DR Michael Shayne:

I believe I mentioned that if I saw the GONE WITH THE WIND Blu-ray being sold in a slimmer, cheaper edition than the deluxe edition, I'd write about it.

I saw the ad for the Target exclusive edition this morning in the newspaper. It's about $10-15 cheaper than the full sized edition. I have not seen if Wal-Mart is selling an even cheaper edition like they did for THE WIZARD OF OZ. There was no Wal-Mart circular in my newspaper this morning.

Cason is on his way - he warned me that he has a really bad cold (this is his second in six weeks), and normally I would try not to be around anyone with a very bad cold, but I cannot do this stuff all by myself.  As it is, I do every other Kritzerland thing by myself (from getting projects to picking up tapes, to getting them to the transfer guy, to editing and titling cues and sequencing to doing the liner notes, proofing and approving all of it - I just can't also do the shipping all by myself because it's addressing, doing the postage, now doing all those customs slips and it's just impossible for one person).
Title: Re: THE eBAY CONUNDRUM
Post by: bk on November 15, 2009, 11:16:09 AM
Maybe I'll go out and get some Coldeez or Airborne just to try and put a lid on it.  We can also do the majority of the addressing outside, which will probably help, but the postage stuff has to be done inside.

TOD - I only used eBay a couple of years ago when I decided that for each Vera Bradley bag I also HAD to have the coin purse (for my iPod) and the clam shell eyeglass case.  Of course, all my patterns were discontinued so eBay was the only place I knew to look for them.  Now, there are a couple of Facebook groups for buying/selling/trading Vera and I've gotten smart enough to buy those 2 items before they go "out of print" in the retail stores.

Then I watched CHASING AMY on Blu-ray. The Blu-ray looks nice (but not exemplary; JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK looked better), and the sound is very good indeed.

The movie is actually more deeply probing of sexual identity and feelings than a lot of films that claim to be actually are. I really enjoyed seeing it again and appreciating some really good performances that are being given.

Finally finished addressing and Cason is now doing the customs forms for the overseas packages.  Ever since they changed the rule about no customs forms for packages under an ounce, this has been so damn time consuming and FOR WHAT?  It's disgusting.  All these years it's been fine to not have a customs form on a package under an ounce, but NOW - yes!  We've GOT to have them!  It makes everything so much more secure.  Not.

I was hoping to go deliver the CDs to the dealer and have it be done with - we discussed it being this afternoon - he is not answering his phone and I'm not going to want to drive out there after five.

I haven't had one minute to do anything but address and stamp postage (and have food) and this guy is now impacting the rest of my day.  And his orders keep getting smaller and smaller and if he keeps this up what he'll find is that if he wants our CDs he'll be ordering them from a dealer and paying more.

St Bernard.  Owners of Bernese Mountain Dogs are often asked if the dog is a St. Bernard, so often in fact I've seen t-shirts that say "I'm not a saint".  Because of Sherlock's unusual blue eye we also get asked if he is part St. part Aussie.

Jose, Elmore, Ben, the Vixter and I were walking down a NYC street  having an animated conversation about some some littlw known rules and regulations in the Roman Catholic religion

We finally arrived at our destination - FJL & Skip's apartment - which apparently is conveniently located on the top of a tower in the Shea Stadium parking lot - in fact we had been invited there so we could watch the World Series from their living room window, sione the the half time show was orchestrated by Elmore (I know - there's no half time in baseball)

We were still discussing this technical point about Catholism which was becoming somewhat heated when finally peacemaker Ben suggetsed we ask Skip as he was sure to know since he was in fact the newly elected Pope

Sure enough when FJL opened the apartment door there was Skip in the kitchen  cooking fried chicken in his Pope hat and long white coat ....

and then I woke up

I know little to nothing about baseball. All I know about baseball I learned from Damn Yankees (that's how you know you're gay, by the way, also if everything you know about football you learned from Good News, and if your favorite Western is The Harvey Girls, then, face it, you're Gay!)

I know even less about the Catholic Church.

We had meatloaf last week (turkey meatloaf which I made from scratch) but tonight we went out for dinner with a friend and we went to a place in our gayborhood called Lasagna. We had a very good time and very good food. The Web site is not working at the moment so I can't link to it. I had Basalmic Chicken, Anthony had Chicken Marsala and our dear friend, Alfred, had Penne ala Vodka. We sat and talked and laughed and had a gay old time.

After dinner we browsed at the store next door

Rainbows and Triangles (http://www.rainbowsandtriangles.com/)

They have Pornaments (http://www.pornaments.com/) for your Christmas tree, adult themed Christmas tree ornaments. FYI, this site is NOT SAFE FOR WORK (NSFW).

We then walked our friend to the Subway and he made his way to Penn Station and we made our way home.

The Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream shows a close relationship in your experience to fine evenings in theatre and fine events in church.

You have elevated your HHW friends to great heights in the Show Business World and they are guides for you in what you may find confusing or overwhelming.

Each also maintains his own particular talent.  You also equate good cooking with Godliness....and we know where that leaves Mr Skip!

I had planned to watch one episode of SUPERNATURAL off the Blu-ray disc one, and I ended up watching three of them. They're so darn good! One was the priceless episode where the show was done as if it were a 30s horror movie. Very amusing one-off on the show's usual style.

The third one was a rather disturbing one about a monster living inside a human (forgot the name) that gives him an insatiable appetite, so much so that when the human finally has to devour human flesh, he transforms from human to monster himself.

This was a very disturbing and visually disgusting episode but very much in the spirit of the show.

I didn't have time to watch LAW & ORDER or MONK, but I did have time to watch THE OFFICE, and it was a fairly funny outing (not up to the usual standard except for Dwight's fight with himself in the teaser).

Then I watched tonight's DEXTER. They continue to pull the surprises on us. Wow! The show kept throwing unexpected curve balls that I just loved.

I finished Red Desert and am moving on to Up.  I'll probably watch half tonight, half tomorrow.  Or, perhaps I'll watch half tomorrow and half tonight.

I imagine I'll be getting FIGHT CLUB on Blu-ray tomorrow, and that will be my work project. However, if the UPS doesn't deliver it until later in the afternoon (deliveries have been running around 3 p.m. lately), I'll have to go ahead and start on THE GOLDEN AGE OF TELEVISION, Criterion's 8 live-broadcasts set. I think either PATTERNS or MARTY is the first one in the set, and I may end up watching the first one tomorrow afternoon.

Of course, I could start watching the bonus features from the FIGHT CLUB DVD and have them done before the Blu-ray arrives. That might be a plan, too.

A lot will be dictated by when UPS delivers.

Good Evening!

I just have to say that the past three days have seemed like the longest three days of my life.  Some of it was good, some of it was bad, some of it was stressful.... But I'm here!

DR elmore - Coldeeze only really seems to "work" if you take it at the first sign of a cold.  It's also not meant a "cure", but just something that may help the cold go faster through your system. Next time, just stick to good ole Vitamin C and plenty of rest.  -Of course, if you did actually have a cold, well... And there's been a lot of the "creeping crud" going around lately, so... Hope you're clear-headed and clear-chested soon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~

Vibes for good things and low stress to DR Jose ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thank You, DR Cillaliz - Tomorrow, I start back with Disney Entertainment (Parks & Cruise Line) for a few days.  It's the first time back in the City for this particular team in about three months!  Even they had to cut back on their audition and travel schedule.  Best of all, I get to work with the casting director who hired me for the first time almost 15 years ago!  -He's also the one that got me on board the Universal Studios casting tour that took me to Australia. :)

DR Larry isn't the only one in need of a new comforter. It was quite cold last night and I was freezing. The Occasional Roommate returned today and confirmed that Roommate #1 (the owner) simply will not put the heat on.  A trip to Bed, Bath & Beyond soon became part of my day. $49.99 for a low-end down comforter. If it's not warm enough I'll exchange it for a warmer one.  I have a nice one, of course, but it's in storage. The things you learn about people when you live in the same house!

Did anyone else have a "cafetorium" in their elementary school?  It's a gymnasium that doubles as a cafeteria with metal tables that fold out from the wall.  Although why they combined the words "cafeteria" and "auditorium" I don't know.  Shouldn't it actually be a "cafenasium"??

Yes, David, we had one. Cafenasium sounds rather cafenauseating.

Actually, now that I think about it, ours wasn't a gym--it really was an auditorium.

I went to elementary schools in Germany, Colorado and Washington state.  I don't remember if any had cafetoriums.
