Well, you've read the notes, the notes were minty fresh, and now it is time for you to post until the newly minted cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FELICITOUS!
-
The Randy Vicar likes Floop?? Who knew!!
-
bk, when you are writing, how often do you hit "save"?
-
Topic of the Day: I have never had sushi, and I never will...if I have anything to say about it! :P
-
And now, to bed.

It will be my first day back at the office after 22 days of vacation!
I just finished oatmeal with walnuts and blueberries and a cup of coffee and now it's time for a shower and then back to the grindstone.
Later, gaters.
-
Sushi is great. Just drop it in the traps, and you can catch a lot of crawdads with it.
-
TOD
Not really sushi eater
-
I only wish that we could get some good, reasonably priced sushi here in Austin.
:'(
-
I also wish that the town had a GOOD NY-style deli.
:'(
-
And the word of the day is: FELICITOUS!
And The Song Of The Day Is: IT'S DE-LOVELY
-
TOD: It's too early ion the day for raw fish.
-
Good morning, all! First up today, a trip to the post office and then to work on the songwriter's concert next Monday night. Yesterday, the songwriter and Joshie were looking for a bass player and my friend Kirk Bailey has now been hired to do the show. I'm taking the next two days off from my Herbert/Kern work to get my half of the show written. It's a small group: piano, bass, drums, and cello; it won't take long.
I'm having a holiday dinner with my friends Alice and Cathie tonight, so at some point this morning I need to run up to 85th Street and pick up a Victoria's Secret gift certificate for Alice. At three o'clock my friend Jesse's coming over to sell me a ticket to a concert of Mozart's MAGIC FLUTE in which he's singing Papageno, the comic lead. At some point, and I hope it's earlier than later, UPS is hopefully delivering a package.
I've had my oatmeal and I'm off to the Post office.
-
No shusi eaters here, thank you.
-
It is 8 degrees here.....but I must go in the car to some places. I shall return.
MOVING DAY VIBES FOR DR CILLA LIZ!
-
Ugh...first of all, what in the world am I doing up so early and second of all, what is it exactly that I am suppose to be doing here...
Yes, I am back at work for the first time in a month. And I am not at all happy about it. I seriously think it's time I thought about a career change.
-
I guess the "wish I could sashimi like my sister Skate" bit has already been done.
-
TOD:
Hmmm...I eat sushi when it's put down in front of me, but I'm no connoisseur of it and and I probably could not tell a shrimp roll from a non-shrimp roll. To tell the truth, I much rather eat liverwurst.
-
A few nice things waited for me in the office this morning: a cute and funny Christmas card from DR George and a beautiful calendar and card from DR Tomovoz.
I can't wait for August 20--it's Borroloola Show Day!
-
What's also strange about being back at the office is that I am no longer an employee of this company. My particular development team has been what they now call rebadged (or, as they used to call it, outsourced.) The people on my team now work for another company and are considered contractors. I will continue to do the same exact kind of work and on the same exact project, but someone else will be paying me (and charging me a heck of a lot more for medical benefits.) Also, once they create the space for us in their office, we will no longer work in this office in Philly but in the new company's headquarters in Conshohocken, PA. I am not too keen on that, either...
-
I guess I'm the exception here, because I love sushi/sashimi and the freshness of the various fish. I love a slab of fatty tuna and the sweetness of some raw shirmp as much as I enjoy a juicy steak. Why? I can't begin to describe the sensuous nature of the textures of the various forms of seafood as you slowly chew them or the flavors that unfold. I've spent way too much on it in my life. It's an expensive habit, and one that, if you haven't acquired, your wallet will be grateful if you stayed away. (That also means more for me.)
-
I don't eat sushi that often. But i really like it. I do like the rolls and stuff with rice better than the raw stuff.
Here we have some buffets that also serve sushi. But we also have restaurants where for a fixed price you can have as much sushi as you can eat.
-
Good morning!
The deep freeze continues, and it felt colder this morning than yesterday. But, I changed jackets and gloves and sweat pants so that may have had something to do with it. And no let-up in this all week. COld, cold, cold.
-
TOD:
I was dating a restaurant critic for awhile, and one of the restaurants he reviewed was a new Japanese restaurant where sushi was a big part of the menu. (Fortunately for me, they had some regular Japanese cuisine, too, so I didn't end up having to go hungry.) Of course, I had never had sushi before, but he insisted I try it, and I sampled four or five different things. I didn't like any of it. Just not for me at all.
-
I just got another Criterion review set: Chantel Ackerman in the Seventies. I don't think I've seen any of the five movies in this Eclipse set. That's three HUGE box sets from Criterion for the month. Wow!
-
I'm still expecting CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN 2 on Blu-ray at some point this week (I did see the first one but not the sequel). And I found out last night I'll be reviewing THE SIMPSONS's 20th season on Blu-ray when it comes out, I think next week.
-
Nothing for me on TV tonight, but there are some shows that are having new episodes, and, of course, the new season of THE BACHELOR begins, too.
-
I'll be working on THE MARINE 2 on DVD today (which will make for a very easy day), and if CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN 2 doesn't come in tomorrow morning, I'll probably go ahead and start on the DVD set of CHE even though it doesn't come out until the 19th of January.
-
Heave ho!

Good morning.

All the best to DR Cilla on her office move today.
-
I DO NOT LIKE SUSHI.
-
Very strange DR DtM - and some management person prolly got a bonus for figuring out how to do that.
-
Monday morning greetings! At 7am I was thinking about getting up and the next thing I knew it was after 9 - that is so unusual for me. Anyway, it's very cold again today and for a while there were sparkly snow flakes swirling around in the air. They actually looked more like something you'd see on stage or screen as a special effect than like snow that would accumulate.
-
The Post Office in Terre Haute says that what the seller mailed is a First Class Parcel for Receipt Confirmation.
The Post Office in Mooresville says it is a First Class Letter so Receipt Confirmation MUST be at Priority Mail rate - hence it cost me $2.95. The seller is adamant that his Post Office gave it the OKAY....

DR FJL - I think you should allow people to discover the Madoff connection as the parody unfolds. But I would put the Madoff name in the tags, so people looking for Madoff related stuff will be able to find it in a search.
-
First day back vibes to DR Ben.
-
And also to DR Dan the Man.
-
First days back at work after a lenghty absence are always a little strange.

I DO NOT LIKE SUSHI.
How do you feel about green eggs and ham?

Are you back home yet, DR Jose?

My dance card is filling up; John McGlinn's executor is coming into the City on Jan 13 for some meetings with estates about the McGlinnventory, and he's booking event tickets for himself, me, and others on the McGlinnventory: we're seeing Rebecca Luker at Lincoln Center on Jan 14, and he's bringing a group to see FINIAN'S RAINBOW on Jan 16. On Friday the 15th I'm going to the orchestra reading for FANNY at Encores! and I've got the closing of FINIAN'S on Sunday the 17th.
I've run all my errands, answered several emails, and spoken to Joshie. My postponing is over so I've got charts to write.
-
Thanks for the advice, Julie
-
I DO NOT LIKE SUSHI.
How do you feel about green eggs and ham?
I do not like it on my plate
I do not want it on a date
I do not like Shu-she or he
I do not like it, Dear Larry.

I think so, too. Those WICKED FAN-atics might not know who he is.

Get to work, DR ELMORE!!
-
Come and Get It - the movie that put 22 year old Frances Farmer on the map is on TCM tonight at 8 p.m EST. She does do a nice job...and if you can get past Edward Arnold in jeans and Walter Brennan's yumping yimitty (Oscar winning) performance - it's a pretty good movie. And of course there's Joel McCrea.
-
DR Julie - I like your poem! :)

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I slept in... And my parents slept in too... So... I'll be on the 1:00pm bus back to NYC from RIC. Hmmm...
-
Are you back home yet, DR Jose?
Not yet, DR Julie. -See my previous post.
My bus should get in around 7:30, but most likely it will get in around 8:00. Although, if the traffic gods are with us, it could get in around 7:00. So...
Please do not let me hold up your dinner plans tonight with DRs FJL and edisaurus. I can check in from the road, and if the timing works out, maybe I can join you all for dessert.
-
And speaking of that bus...

About every ten seconds :)

I'm up, and have answered e-mails and such. I had one e-mail from a man in Germany who'd ordered The Children's Hour and wanted to know why he hadn't received it yet. I responded and said that a) it wasn't even scheduled to ship until this week, but that all copies had gone out three weeks early, around the 15th of December, b) his copy WAS shipped but that we have no control over either the USPS or the postal service in Germany, and c) it hadn't been THAT long and to please give it another few days - if it hasn't arrived by then I'd send out another copy. Then I see that he's opened a dispute with paypal - that's right, without even having the bloody courtesy to wait for a response to his e-mail, he opens a dispute, which means paypal removes that money from my account until it's resolved - and they are not quick to put this money back, I have to tell you. So, I responded via paypal, as well, and I can tell you it was a rather strong response. I told him that unless he removed the dispute immediately that I would never accept another order from him, and that if the CD were lost I would refund his money rather than send him a replacement, which means he would not get the CD since it's sold out pretty much everywhere. People are so damn stupid and impatient it just boggles my mind.
-
Very strange DR DtM - and some management person prolly got a bonus for figuring out how to do that.
I don't doubt that he did, DR JRand.
-
And also to DR Dan the Man.
Why, thank ye, kind miss!

I love sushi and sashimi. For sushi I recommend the Unagi.
That is my favorite! Second on my list is the flying fish roe (don't remember the Japanese name for it). It is sweet and tasty and does not have the fishy flavor one would associate with fish roe. My little niece Taylor loved it, and she was only 5 years old when she tried it.
The salmon one is also quite tasty. In fact I have only had one type of sushi that I did not like, and I don't recall what it was was.
-
Wow, I just heard what it will cost if I go to a two CD set on our new title AND up the cost and the number of CDs. It makes the decision VERY difficult as it's almost three times the normal license fee. Yes, we'd make more money ultimately (if they were to all sell) but it's not that much more, and I'd be nervous about selling all 1500 copies - we barely got there on Stranger/Tamiko, which was really surprising. This is a much more popular film and the original film tracks have never been available before, so there's that, but I think I have to try and get that fee down or figure out a different way to do it.
-
I must now go do a couple of errands and then have the meeting for the long musical.
-
Ugh--the tomatoes on my sandwich were obviously frozen and thawed. And this iceburg lettuce sucks!
I am so spoiled by eating good decent quality food the past month...
-
I love Roxie and her malaprops on ONE LIFE TO LIFE; she just told Kyle and Fish that Dorian Lord humidified Beau Buchanan at her inauguration party. And adding to the hilarity, Tuc Watkins is coming back.
-
Nothing for me on TV tonight, but there are some shows that are having new episodes, and, of course, the new season of THE BACHELOR begins, too.
And a 2 hour HEROES.

Re THE CD DECISION.....remember what your horoscope for 2010 said:
There will be new challenges to your money supply and how you handle your money, and yet you'll also have new opportunities to correct problems in your material life, and maybe even prosper more than you ever have before.
The hard work that you've sometimes had to put in during the last two years is going to start paying off for you. And for some of you, the rewards will be enormous.
-
DR MBARNUM - those pictures don't make me want to eat sushi.

Signing off to get ready to go see The Blind Side with Richard...bye for now!
-
I had time to watch last night's BROTHERS & SISTERS before leaving for lunch. EPisode had me in tears a couple of times; nicely done even if much of it felt like a treading water episode. Next week's looks to be meatier.
-
I love Roxie and her malaprops on ONE LIFE TO LIFE; she just told Kyle and Fish that Dorian Lord humidified Beau Buchanan at her inauguration party. And adding to the hilarity, Tuc Watkins is coming back.
She is one of the most cherished characters ever, and she's always a pleasure to watch. I loved today's episode, just for the brief pillow talk between Kyle and Oliver at the first, and then the deepening friendhsip between Kyle and Roxie. It's wonderful to have a friend like that. I don't know what I'd do without my best friend John in my life.
-
DR MBARNUM - those pictures don't make me want to eat sushi.
Exactly what it looks like and the reason why I never want it again.
-
When I got in from lunch, I got my work project out of the way: THE MARINE 2 on DVD. The sound was great for Dolby Digital 5.1, but the picture looked overly processed and there were artifacts. Color kept going from fully saturated to slightly desaturated and back. Wonder if they filmed part of this with an HD camera and part with film stock? Some parts were grainier than others. I didn't notice this on the Blu-ray, but it seemed very noticeable on standard DVD.
-
I just did a spot check on the bonus features. All of them are there that were also on the Blu-ray.
-
I finished my afternoon viewing by skimming through ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Watched any scene that had FIsh or Kyle in it. Glad to see that the two of them will be taking part in stories other than their own.
-
A few nice things waited for me in the office this morning: a cute and funny Christmas card from DR George and a beautiful calendar and card from DR Tomovoz.

Going to work a bit now on the review for today's work project. Then I can head down and have an evening of leisure viewing.
I got the replacement disc for THE SHOW OF SHOWS from Warner Archives today. I hope it's the proper length now and not missing half of the film. SOmeone at my worksite got his replacement copy, and it was the same 64 minute version as the previous one had been. I'm almost dreading finding out.

Back from a good meeting and shall now try to write a few pages. I will be taking muse Margaret pages before my early dinner.

Of course, I could do what I did on How To Murder Your Wife, make it a two CD set at 1000 units and not up the price, but I think I shoot myself and a lot of collectors in the foot if I do.
-
We do not want any foot-shooting, please.

Mr Hugh O'Brien is the guest star on today's episode of THE VIRGINIAN....and while he is working hard at strutting his stuff - he looks a bit warn out next to James Drury and Doug McClure.....not so much next to Gary Clarke and Lee J. Cobb.

Throw in some rare photos - and up the price.
-
All books ordered yesterday were shipped out today. They should arrive in about a week or so.
Thanks again.

Hi, there -
I've just come from arguing with the Calabasas Sheriff's office - in person! - about a citation I got this morning for expired tabs... well, my tabs say Nov 2010... so you do the math. I called, I complained, I went down there and got Deputy Rubone (yep, that's his name - in Italian it would mean 'Grand Theft') to come outside and actually LOOK at my tabs. Hmmm, Nov 2010 - that's like, almost a year away... they LOOK current...
And I STILL had to write a ^*&^*(&*!#%! letter, contesting the fkng citation, with a copy of my registration, dated Nov 3, 2009, and run it to the post office.
And, yes, I do like sushi and sashimi. I remember fondly many a family dinner at Asakuma and other raw crawdad emporia, where Orloff's sucked down prodigious quantities of raw sea critters. Yummm... Costco actually has a large platter o' sushi for not too many bucks. Jes' fine, when ya gotta have it!
-
hugs penny, how annoying and unfair-been there. they are desperate for money & want you to give up and pay the fine.
-
Wow. What a pain, Penny. I am glad you are RIGHT.
-
I've finished nothing but seem to have been busy all day.
I had a busy day, too. I went bird watching. Our best birds today were a bald eagle and a pair of Harris' hawks.
-
penny, keith said you might have to pay the fine first & wait for a refund if they agree you don't owe anything. that is what happened to us when we received a parking ticket in the mail for a spot we didn't park in.
where were you when you got the ticket?
-
off to walk around and around my house.

Good Evening!
Greetings from New York City!!
-
The bus and the bus driver made great time up 95, and I don't even think he was speeding. That much.
The bus (company) I took back up to NYC was different than the one I used to take down to Richmond this time. However, this bus company's "station" is just about a mile from my parents' house. They used to have a stop in the parking lot of a Family Dollar store on West Broad Street - which is a little more than a mile from my parents' house. I called my friend, Mike, who takes the Chinatown busses regularly between Richmond and DC and/or New York City, and he said that this company had moved their "office" out by my parents' house about two weeks ago. It will be interesting to see if they lose any business being located off the main drag, so to speak. However, their new location has a proper parking lot, and I'm guessing if people wanted to park their cars there for a few days at a time, that could work. There's also a bunch of places to grab a bite to eat there around there too, including a 24-hour Wal-Mart. Anyhoo...
It's nice to be home.
-
hi jose. i'm happy to see you made it home safely. i hope the trip was uneventful.
-
i see it was uneventful & convenient :)
-
Alas, I'm not going to be able to join DRs edisaurus, FJL and Julie tonight for dinner. Besides sleeping in this morning - well, rather the reason we all slept in this morning - we all woke up with colds. Thankfully, I'm feeling much better now, and my parents seemed to be non-sniffly when I left, but we were all just moving a bit too slow this morning to try and make the earlier bus. So...
I need to take care of a couple of things around the apartment - unpack, go through my mail, drop off the rent, etc. - then I'm gonna plant myself on the couch and check to see what's on the DVR, and spend a nice cozy evening in.
-
i see it was uneventful & convenient :)
It was very convenient.
*And I still have a voucher for another trip between NYC and RIC on the other bus line.
**And it looks like my parents may even give the Chinatown bus a try. At $60 round trip, it really is quite the deal. Plus, this one makes its first stop right at Penn Station instead of Chinatown. I was back in my apartment just 30 minutes after I got off the bus.
-
One very cute and slightly embarrassing thing from earlier today...
My parents dropped me off at the bus at 12:30. They were heading to lunch at Burger King - yes, Burger King - which happens to be in the same strip mall as the bus stop. My mom had wanted the three of us to have a sit-down lunch, but I really wasn't that hungry, and I also just wanted to make sure I had a seat on the bus. -Thankfully, the bus was not crowded, and I had a two seats to myself. Well...
A few minutes before the bus was scheduled to leave, I noticed an incoming phone call from my parents on my phone... And I then I heard my Dad's voice up at the front of the bus... They had bought and brought me lunch - from Burger King: a grilled chicken sandwich, french fries, iced tea and an orange juice.
Awwww... :)
-
OK... Time to take care of what I have to take care of before I don't take care of them... Or something like that...
Laters...

We're in!!!. This has to be one of the smoothest moves I've ever been through.
I got to the office about 7:30 and borrowed the hand carts from the building manager. I made a couple trips up before Edith arrived a little before 8:00. We worked our tail feathers off for about an hour and had almost all the boxes moved up to the new space before the movers arrived. As we were moving the phone guy arrived to switch the phones to the new suite.
The computer guy was in over the weekend and had the network all fixed up and added a secure wireless network for our office. So I can just show up with my laptop and access all our files. He can make it even more secure if I want him to.
The place had been vacuumed before I arrived today. The carpet guys weren't completely done, so they worked while we moved in, but it all worked out.
By noon the movers were done and we were left to unpack. The office supply delivered the new file cabinets, so all we're waiting on is the couch for the waiting room which will be delivered on Friday. I'm very pleased about that.
Edith is totally amazing. She had so much unpacked in such a short time, I couldn't believe it. I got the computers online and stayed a couple hours after Edith left to start putting my office together. I still have some boxes to empty, but we're in really good shape.
-
Great news, Cillaliz. I hope you will post some photos for us.
-
After the movers left this noon, I finally went home for lunch and there was a wave of relief over me. Wow! I had no idea I was as wound up as I must have been because I was exhausted and relaxed. I did go back and worked and worked and worked some more, but the relief was amazing
-
FANTASTIC NEWS CILLA!

I haven't taken any photos yet. But I will. We still need a few things here and there and have moved things around a bit since the movers left and will probably do that some more. We haven't hung any pictures etc yet either, so there's a little way to go
-
G'night!
-
The new space is very comfortable. It was definitely the right thing to do.
Thanks Laura, Jane and TCB

I'm back from a wonderful Italian dinner with Cathie and Alice. It was great to see both of them and to catch up on everything happening to each of us.

Richard and I both enjoyed The Blind Side. We came home for a dinner of leftover pork roast and I've spent the past hour getting my secretary pro tem act together for the grantwriters' meetings tomorrow. Man, I hope Ritika comes back from India soon!
-
Glad to hear that both DR Jose's trip and DR Cillaliz's office move went smoothly.
-
I like sushi
-
Thanks Ginny
-
i sometimes like sushi, and then only vegetarian sushi.
-
We're in!!!. This has to be one of the smoothest moves I've ever been through.
Very good news! Congrats!

I also like thai food
-
Welcome home DR Jose. Glad you had a nice visit
-
Good Evening, again.
DR Cillaliz - Glad to read that things went so swimmingly today. -And I did have a nice visit. Although, I have to admit, that even though I was only down there for four days, spending New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in Richmond really made it feel like it was a much longer visit than just four days. -Which isn't such a bad thing.

I dropped pages off to muse Margaret and shall wait on pins and needles and also needles and pins until she calls, which will probably be tomorrow. I had some dinner, and now I'll try to write a couple more pages, since I'd only had time to do three today. I think the weekends are going to be when I'm most able to do the bigger page counts, but I'm so far ahead of where I normally am it's actually fine to have only done three today.
-
Just caught the end of COME AND GET IT. Frances really was magnificent, that's all I can say.
-
And as for the Topic of the Day...
I tend to like it all, and I do have to say that once you had some premium-grade, top-of-the-line, properly prepared sushi, there really is no going back. Well, yes, you can go "back", but there really is nothing like truly fresh fish (raw or cooked for that matter).
I also like eel (unagi) which is traditionally served cooked, lightly broiled. As for the raw stuff, I'm partial to tuna: toro and otoro (fatty tuna) and hamachi (yellowtail). I also like the tofu skins that are stuffed with seasoned rice, inarizushi.
-
never partook (such a word?) in Itunes radio selections. Something for everyone. Right now listening to some relaxing music
DR Michael S - Yes, "partook" is a word.
-
OMG, there is actually a show called "The Conveyor Belt of Love"...this is insane
-
I was very nervous putting THE SHOW OF SHOWS in the Blu-ray upconverting player (though upconverting these Archive titles is pretty ridiculous; I don't have anything now except upconverting players).
Within seconds of the titles coming up, I paused the disc and there it was - 2 hours, 3 minutes running time.
What a relief!
The movie is a much duller grab bag of musical numbers and comedy than HOLLYWOOD REVUE OF 1929. Stars are much less glamorous and what they're given to do is much less interesting.
Nice to see Bea Lillie for a couple of moments. Richard Barthlemiss looked nice and had a nice speaking voice. John Barrymore was among the better items in the show doing a soliloquy from HENRY VI. My favorite, however, was Winnie Lightener (sp?) who put lots of pep and verve into her two songs including the one hit to emerge from the movie - "Singin' in the Bathtub."
The two-strip Technicolor sequence that turned up a few years ago was in place and looked wonderful. Myrna Loy was featured in it.
-
After that, I watched another NCIS episode from last season's box set. This was the one where Tony had to unravel a mistaken arrest from three years ago. The mystery was OK, but I found the ending a little unsatisfying.
-
If CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN 2 on Blu-ray doesn't come tomorrow, I'll go ahead and start on CHE. With no appointments tomorrow, I should be able to watch the first part in the afternoon and the second part in the evening.
I'll be doing the DVD set first. That Chantel Akerman five film set that came today is also being released on January 19th, so I'll start on those films later in the week or the weekend. It's that Fox Blu-ray that keeps me from firming up my viewing schedule since I never know when the discs will arrive.
-
The only thing worse that a show called "the Conveyor Belt of Love" is the fact I started watching it! I am now turning the channel
-
Finishing up a few computer chores and then I'll be heading down early and going to bed.
Good night!

I've finished nothing but seem to have been busy all day.
I had a busy day, too. I went bird watching. Our best birds today were a bald eagle and a pair of Harris' hawks.
I was watching birds, too but they were birds at the natural history museum and they were stuffed. I was visiting my friend Mark who works there. He's currently redoing the whole planet/science area; a 2 mil project. It was interesting to hear him discuss hydraulic robotic arms with a colleague. They have to used them because it's the only way to reach Uranus. I asked what was wrong with Uranus, and he told me that Uranus has a crack in it. I was thinking that JRand would appreciate the conversation.
-
Just had a lovely dinner with DR FJL and DR Julie at one of my old hangouts, Zuni. They used to have jazz on Monday nights, but no more, alas. But in a way it was good because we had more opportunity for sparkling conversation! It was great to see them both.. I was sorry to miss you, DR Jose, but probably better for you to get home and fight your cold!

Where did you go for a walk?

Oh!
So... I was contacted today by the folks at Zagat regarding the prize I won a few weeks ago from/with/through their Zagat Photo Contest. They requested my address and phone number, and said they would be mailing my sparking prize to me once they had said information. I emailed them the requested information, and they emailed me back to confirm that they had received my information, and that they had sent my prize off this afternoon... Via FedEx Three-Day service... And that I should have it Thursday. Well...
The Zagat offices are located at Columbus Circle - 59th Street. I live at 146th Street. Or just two stops away from their offices on the express train. Or probably even just an "automatic" overnight via the USPS. -I'm guessing I may get a knock on my door from the FedEx driver tomorrow morning, but, for some reason, I'm thinking FedEx may just go ahead and take the three days to send it 87 blocks north. We shall see. ::)

Oh, that's great news! That planet area is really showing it's age and wear and tear. -As are some of the other galleries in there. It looks much nicer in "Night at the Museum". ;)

I'm sorry I missed you this time round too, DR edisaurus. However, I do believe, just heading right back here to my apartment and taking it easy was the best thing to do tonight. I'm feeling a lot better, and my head is a lot clearer too. I guess it was just the sudden cold-snap down in Richmond that done did me in.
-
I'm also sorry that I missed dining with DRs FJL and Julie too. Guess we'll just have to plan another HHW-NYC-Contigent Get-Together sometime sooner rather than later.
-
Time for me to head home and watch "Heroes"...assuming my DVR records it.
Until later!
-
Good evening!
-
Congrats on the office move going so well, Cilla
-
I have been listening to SYMPHONY OF STEEL today, and luv it!

Oooo. Ahhhh. Laura takes such pretty walks!

Dinner was very lovely. We had wonderful service and food, and the conversation was indeed sparkling (and somewhat punny). It was really great to get to spend some time with DR Edisaurus. We had only met, very briefly, at the opening performance of Brain From Planet X, so this was a real treat to get to sit down to a nice dinner and have a good chat. I love meeting DRs in person.

375 people have accessed my Farmer article since TCM showed COME AND GET IT. That's probably about everyone who watched the film, I'd reckon. ;)

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if they did something silly like fly to your package to a main sorting facility in Atlanta for putting on a plane back to NY.

I would like that very much. You were definitely missed tonight!

Ah, that's right. It's probably en route to Memphis as we type.

For FJL, here's the quote we were discussing. I was thinking Groucho said something like "calomel" which didn't make sense to me but i guess it was a brand of headache medicine, so now it makes sense:
Wagstaff: I got it! "Haddock".
Baravelli: 'At's a-funny, I got a "haddock" too.
Wagstaff: What do you take for a "haddock"?
Baravelli: Sometimes I take an aspirin, sometimes I take a calomel.
Wagstaff: I'd walk a mile for a calomel.
Baravelli: You mean chocolate calomel? I like-a that too, but you no guess it.

I was very glad that Zuni was chosen so i could have my beloved warm goat cheese salad. Ahhhh....
I would like that very much. You were definitely missed tonight!
-
Hmmm...can't get my message out of quotes even by removing the last quote. Oh well, you know what I mean...

We had a good bloodletting today on the last half of the film. Now I have my work cut out for me getting it ready in 6 days to submit to the Full Frame Festival. I may have to call in reinforcements!

Thanks Julie!

EDITING VIBES TO DR EDI ~~~~~~~
-
TIme for sleep.....after all the lifting and carrying today, I think I will sleep very well....oh, I also need to get a lot done tomorrow....we're going to get ANOTHER 5-6 inches of snow....lol...this is just ridiculous...there is no where left to put it!
-
Thanks, Cillaliz, and glad your move went so well!
-
Sorry I missed you this time, DR Edisaurus!!
-
Glad to hear that your move went so smoothly, DR Cillaliz! I guess you found just the right window between storms once again!
-
Well---it's been a long day so I will bid you all adieu. Nytol!
-
Next time, for sure, David!
-
And I believe I'm going to head to bed now too. Me tired. Me sleepy.
Goodnight.
-
Congrats on your smooth move, Cilla
Wait, that came out wrong.
What i meant was...well, glad it went well.

Just had a really fascinating conversation with muse Margaret. She loved the introduction of the book. And for the most part, she loved the prologue and the beginning of chapter one. But there were things in the prologue that really bothered her - not many, but they were there. And that's why her reading these first pages was so important, because this is new territory for me and I am feeling my way about how frank to be and how far to go - and she just felt that some of the really personal stuff wasn't what I'd said the book was going to be - I'm so clear about the impetus for writing it, and then she felt that four different times I veered away from it and she just felt it took away the momentum and made her uncomfortable. And I think she's right - she really has this magical ability to cut to the heart of the matter and the heart of THIS matter is what story are you telling and how are you telling it. So, I'm going to make a few cuts, probably amounting to about three or four pages, maybe not even that much. And then the only other things she asked for was a descriptive sentence about my ex-wife, which is easy to add, and then some descriptive prose about a particular place. So, I'm going to do that, she'll reread it, but I instinctively knew she's right in what was making her uneasy - that's not what this is about.

Hello all!
I'm a semi-frequent poster on Film Score Monthly and the Intrada message boards. I've seen BK around on FSM for about a year now, and I discovered this place about two months ago when he mentioned it in a post on that forum. I've browsed as a guest since then and just now decided to register to post some thoughts every once in a while. I don't know if I can be here every day, and I admit, my life is quite boring since I'm taking a computer systems technology course in college, so I'm quite busy.
My real name is Lucas Sestak. I'm 18 years old (turning 19 on January 17th), and I live in central Canada (more specifically, Saskatchewan).
Hope to see you around, nonetheless!

A rather rough situation. Patience is a virtue, although some people I know don't seem to have much of it. Hope it works out in the end.
-
Wow, I just heard what it will cost if I go to a two CD set on our new title AND up the cost and the number of CDs.
I still have yet to buy the Stranger/Tamiko pairing, but maybe I'll receive it from family as a birthday gift. If not, then I'll see to ordering it myself, if it's not sold out by then.
Regarding the upcoming Kritzerland release: Would it be more financially feasible to make it a run of 1200 copies? Or is the difference negligible? It sounds like a fantastic release already.
-
A happy haineshisway.com welcome to new dear reader Basil. We love new people and I'm sure you'll love everyone here.
-
There is no difference between 1200 and 1500 in terms of the price. The price jumps after 1000.
-
I just did all the cuts - about six pages and boy was muse Margaret right - it works SO much better now. I knew it the minute I made the first deletion. I just have to always remember what the book is about. I then wrote a few more pages - I think I did eight today, but really a lot more with all the fixes and then doing all the cuts. So, even though the page count is now less, I did a lot of work today.

It's only ten-forty - where in tarnation IS everyone?

Well, no one can say we didn't get to page eight. I think it's most unseemly that no one was here to welcome new dear reader Basil.

Welcome New D(ear) R(eader) Basil! Hope you enjoy our little oasis on the Internet. :D
