And the word of the day is: DISCALCED!
Good Morning! Good Afternoon! Wherever you are!
I'm up, I'm up... And, alas, I slept through the snow... -ish.
Violets in January....that sounds very pleasant
Was everything beautiful? :)
My DN David just became a father again!! so I have another GN! Her name is Violet. This also means Jhvw is an uncle again
Best news I've received so far this year: the secretary of the grantwriters' group is back from India and ready to resume her duties. Whew!
I'm glad it went okay.
Do all the dogs walk without leashes when people hike?
I guess it's sort of remote. but I know i hate it when people have their dogs loose on the bike path (it's a walking path too).

WELCOME BASIL!!!
It is a pleasure to meet you.
Be sure to stop in on your birthday.
Hm? Did you find out my birthdate from somewhere, or something? ;D
...Now that I'm thinking about it, I forgot I had mentioned my birthdate already on my very first post. Silly me.
DR Jane - Walks are good regardless of the path or your speed. Just enjoy the stroll.
Speaking of pains, my followup with the urologist yesterday was rather interesting. He is convinced this residual pain I have, which is the same pain I have been experiencing once or twice a year for about two to three years, is not kidney related. It's too low to be my kidneys, evidently. So they're going to do another CAT scan and see if I have a pinched nerve.
DR Dan (the Man) - I hope it is/was a good lunch. ;)
thanks everyone for the words of support over my outing yesterday. i wish i could return today, but alas i will be back to drugs & PT.

Be careful how you say something like that--you don't want The National Enquirier quoting you out of context on a cover story!
DR Jane, once you've got better use of your arm, maybe you could ask your PT how to take a fall? I've been trying to think of what kind of classes would teach that sort of thing but nothing comes to mind. I wonder if there's some kind of adult gymnastics class?...

Some sports classes - like for skiing and skating - teach proper falling technique.

LOL
actually i'm pretty good at falling. this time i was knocked down flat, nothing to be done about it. i didn't even slide, just smack down hard sideways with the weight of my body on the outer side of my shoulder. it really hurt & i couldn't move, yet i had no idea to the extent of my injury. i never suspected even a little beak. i've hurt that much before on falls, waited several minutes or more & slowly gotten up. this time instead of the pain getting better it kept getting worst. it wasn't until keith finally arrived & they rolled me over that the realization hit me i could not get up & walk out of there.
Being ... can be annoying.
Note to DRs - If you do not want to be angered as much as I am right now, DO NOT read Michael Riedel's latest column in regards to the closing of Ragtime. It's like one giant insult to the whole company of that show.
-And did he not see Bobby Steggert in 110 in the Shade? He's not a "regional" actor. In fact, none of them are "regional" actors. They're just "Actors".

Oh, I didn't mean to say that this injury could have been avoided. It's just that after your first walk outside you sounded a little jittery about it and I thought maybe you needed something to give yourself more confidence about hiking out in hilly terrain again.
But like you said, sometimes, no matter how prepared we are, we wind up on our asses (or shoulders!)
mbarnum & jmk, did you receive your voter's pamphlets?

I received MBarnum's. Why is it full of pictures of naked Bollywood men?

I have window film that looks like etched glass.
I have lots of books at home that I will take to the office. I may box some of them up this weekend. I would have done it sooner, but with the weather, I wasn't about to go in and out of the cold moving them

when i was lying on the ground unable to move the guy who stopped encouraged me not to call an ambulance due to the high cost. after about half an hour on the ground i was wondering of the wisdom not to call. later i was glad i waited.
jmk i'm sure your ambulance bill was nothing compared to the bill the hospital sent my insurance company for my 5 day stay-shocking beyond belief.

I've been watching a ninety minute interview with Sondheim and Frank Rich from the Kennedy Center back in 2001 or 2002. Very interesting, because the Sondheim and Rich show was new back then and Sondheim was fresh.
